I'm convinced that the people saying Chuuya is never anyones first option have only ever seen the horrible destruction of characters and their relationships that bones has animated.

mary h.how many bsd novels are there i thought it was just the agency aku one and the dazai one but theres more apparently?? how many different bsd spin offs are there i am so confused
OHHHH BOYS. BESTIE YOU ARE NOT READY. THERE ARE SO MANY. and i know this because i own every single novel that has an english release (i'm linking all the ones that do):
Osamu Dazai's Entrance Exam - this is the one with the Azure Messenger, infamously adapted into the present day in the middle of season 1 when it's actually set 2 years in the past as Dazai's entrance exam into the ADA.
The Untold Origins of the Detective Agency - what the title says, currently being adapted in the beginning of season 4. The novel also includes a short story set the day before Atsushi's entrance exam about the ADA planning what his exam should be.
Osamu Dazai and the Dark Era - this is one of the Dazai ones, about his time in the mafia with Ango and Oda, adapted in the beginning of season 2.
Dazai, Chuuya, Age Fifteen - another Dazai one, the one (poorly) adapted at the beginning of season 3, about how Chuuya joined the mafia. Has a currently ongoing manga adaptation.
Storm Bringer - sequel to Fifteen, longest of all the novels by far, set when Dazai and Chuuya are 16 and we find out more about Chuuya's origin story. And so much more, it really is a thicc novel.
55 Minutes - the second longest novel after Storm Bringer yet the least talked about (despite how much it elaborates on skill singularities and the nature of abilities). It's a self-contained story of the ADA going to solve a case on an artificial island off the coast of Yokohama, featuring two new ability users H. G. Wells and Jules Verne (hence a relatively sci-fi heavy novel and i wrote a 2k+ word essay analysing all the science behind it lmao)
Dead Apple - novelisation of the movie with some extra scenes and more elaboration on some details in the movie. Also has an ongoing manga adaptation with official english release.
BEAST - this is the Akutagawa in the ADA and Atsushi in the PM one, with a completed manga adaptation (also released in english) as well as a live-action movie that came out last year.
Gaiden (Another Story): Ayatsuji Yukito vs. Kyogoku Natsuhiko - the novel has no english release yet, but it's a spin-off about different ability users and i think Ango is the only recurring character from the main series there. There is an ongoing manga adaptation which does have an official english release.
The Day I Picked Up Dazai - i don't think this one is formally released yet as it was a bonus novel given out at the screening of the BEAST movie. It's divided into Side A and Side B and i haven't read this one yet but i believe it's about how Dazai and Oda first met, where each side follows the other's perspective. There's a completed fan-translation of both sides by @popopretty.
Kunikida and Katai's Magnificent Days - this is a really sweet short story about Kunikida and Katai's friendship and i have no idea where the official version is from but there is a fan-translation of it you can read here.
In addition to BEAST and Gaiden there is also Wan! which is the super cute casual chibi spin-off manga with no stakes and no angst and only vibes, it is still ongoing and has an official english release. Some of the chapters were adapted into the Wan! anime series with 12 episodes (they are shorter episodes of 10 min each) and it is literally free therapy and will give you a year's worth of serotonin!!
There is also the bsd anthology series, which are side stories written and illustrated by different mangakas, there is no official english release that i know of but you can find fan-translations of some of the side stories here and there online.
We also have bsd mayoi or Tales of the Lost, the mobile gacha game which also includes a high school AU storyline (bsd gakuen)!
Other than these, there are also several stage plays, although it's harder to find content on these in english since they are only performed in Japan.
Bsd fans are truly the most well-fed fans of all time sometimes i forget how much content we have and still we keep getting more, it's unreal

Making Verlaine an executive is still one of the most utterly baffling decisions Mori has made as leader of the mafia. Like why did he do that?

BSD season 6 (theories) - PART IV
PART I - PART II - PART III
With the defeat of Guild by Dazai's plan, Fyodor emerges from the shadows and finally decides to confront Dazai, which sets the stage for the events of Season 3. However, Dazai wins and manages to have Fyodor arrested. DAZAI WINS.
Fyodor doesn't contemplate defeat. For that reason, when Fukuchi approaches him to devise a plan where Fukuzawa becomes the only one capable of using the One Order (as he confesses to Fukuzawa on his deathbed), he devises a parallel plan to defeat Dazai and crown himself as the smartest person (in Fyodor's mind, of course). But Dazai defeats him again. Certainly, Fyodor loses, but remember that all of this is Mori's plan, and he doesn't care what happens to Dostoyevsky. He cares about what happens to Dazai, and in Seasons 4 and 5, Dazai:
Killed countless people
Escapes from prison with the help of a member of the PM.
ALL the crimes Dazai committed while in the PM are leaked. Crimes that had remained erased (as mentioned in Dazai Osamu's Entrance Exam novel). Crimes that Ango had hidden by resorting to a certain organization (as he admitted in Season 4).
Dazai has betrayed several principles of the ADA. Continuing with them could mean a bad reputation for the ADA and for Fukuzawa, so he could be tempted to leave (to lose something he cares about, as always). Fukuzawa could prevent it, but let's remember the deal Fukuzawa and Mori reach in Season 4, where Fukuzawa will have to give up one of his employees. Fukuzawa's condition is that Mori doesn't ask for Yosano, but he says nothing about Dazai.
With this, Mori can claim Dazai as fulfillment of the deal, and Dazai not only would have to return to the PM, but he could feel betrayed by Fukuzawa. For all of this, I believe it is MORI who orchestrates the events of Seasons 2, 3, 4, and 5. ALL to have Dazai as the leader of the PM and fulfill his prediction that, at the age of 23, he would lead the deadliest criminal organization in all of Yokohama.
P.S: I've mentioned that Fukuchi approaches Fyodor to devise the plan that will cause Fukuzawa to be the sole administrator of the One Order. Fukuchi was the leader of the Hunting Dogs, a military figure recognized internationally. What if Fukuchi, displaying the patriotism typical of military personnel, learns that an external organization wants to take control of the book guarded by Japan? What if that organization were the Order of the Clock Tower, and all the events of Seasons 4 and 5 are intended to protect Japan from that organization that Mori has provoked?
And what if what needs to happen in Season 6 is a war that will not only completely corrupt Dazai but will also elevate him as the leader of the PM and declare him an enemy of the ADA?
An enemy of his former comrades whom he only wanted to protect, and his president has betrayed him, selling him out to Mori?
Will Dazai's mind be able to withstand all of that?
.
.
I don't think I'm ready for this to happen, what are your thoughts?

Hello! I wanted to ask you your thoughts on SB. It's implied that Dazai caused the flags deaths. But I heard people talking about how it was a miscalculation due to how he says "we need to get to Chuuya" now all panicky. What do you think?
Hello, sorry for the delay in answering! (calculus homework is a bitch i swear) Anyways! I will be happy to answer your question:D
So in short, No.
Dazai didn't cause the flags deaths, he was responsible for the detective's death in stormbringer however.
I think the problem was that when Strombringer first came out, people spread lots of misinformation and mistranslations to the general public, causing people to think this is canon.
(Twitter and Reddit aren't the most reliable sources!)
@popopretty translated the section of Dazai explaining his inital plan, none of it indicates Dazai being involved in indirectly killing the flags.
Dazai did meet up with Veraline, however it was days after the flags deaths. The only thing Dazai did was buy time, which did infact lead to the Detective dying and Chuuya getting captured by N.
He is such a silly man.
Again, here's Verlaine and Dazai's interaction translated by @popopretty for further confirmation.
Verlaine was set on killing Chuuya's friends from the get-go, believing it was their fault for Chuuya's cling to humanity.
If you need any sort of consolation, Dazai did respect Chuuya's care for the flags enough, he did end up dropping him off to take in the death of his friends and grieve properly after all.
Have a great day anon! <3

I just finished reading the Stormbringer light novel. I have never read a story so deep and heartbreaking at the same time.
Among the thousands things that struck me, the main one was Chuuya's humanity.
This boy has a huge heart for the people he loves. He does his best for his friends, he loves them, he protects them, he would do anything for them, without ever turning his back on them. He suffered a lot but despite this, with an unimaginable strength, he managed to go on, finally being able to love himself as a true human being.
His growth path moved me a lot. If this isn't humanity I really don't know what else it could be. I think Chuuya is a very good example of resilience, strength and courage, as well as self-acceptance and self-love.
His story will always remain in my heart!💖💖

during dazai’s entrance exam:
dazai: “you seem really quiet kunikida.”
kunikida: “oh i’m not…. i’m in the middle of psychoanalyzing the hell out of you.”
dazai: “oh?”
kunikida: “it’s not going well.”
dazai: “oh.”
