Hi all! I recently got the advice to join Bluesky so I can reach more people in the fandom that aren't active on AO3.

Bobby’s kids, part 2

(part 1)

“Harry!” Hen called over the loft balcony in surprise. “What are you doing here?”

“Came to pick Buck up,” he called back, spinning the Jeep keys around his finger.

“I thought you were at your study group,” Buck said, appearing behind Hen.

“We wrapped up a little early,” Harry said. “Thought I’d save you from ubering home.”

“Thanks, man. Wanna come up and grab something to eat?”

“Is it your food?”

“Muffins,” Buck told him. “The lemon blueberry.”

“Sick,” Harry said, speeding up the stairs.

“I’m confused,” Chimney said, Hen and Eddie nodding in agreement behind him.

“Harry’s staying with me for a little bit,” Buck said. “Athena’s staying with May and her apartment’s not that big.”

Harry headed for the muffin tray on the kitchen island and took one for himself, pulling the wrapper off and taking a giant bite.

“No offense, but — why you, Buck?” Hen asked. “Harry, you have family here.”

They both shrugged. “May decided and dropped me off,” Harry said around a mouthful of muffin.

“You mind stopping at the hardware store on the way home?” Buck asked. “I need to get a new gasket for the tap.”

“Ah, the joys of home ownership,” Harry teased. “It’ll cost you another muffin.”

“May wasn’t lying when she called you a garbage disposal,” Buck grumbled. He looked at Hen and Eddie. “Are Denny and Chris like this yet?”

“Home ownership? You own your place? I thought you were renting?” Chim interrupted.

Buck looked at Chim and then glanced away. “Uh, yeah, I own now.”

“How?” Chimney pressed. “Maddie and I had to ask your parents for help.”

“Uh,” Buck hesitated.

“Bobby,” Harry said. “He left the three of us money.”

The rest of the 118 looked between the two of them, expressions varying between shock and confusion.

“They didn’t know about that?” Harry asked Buck, now working on his second muffin.

“Well, they do now,” Buck sighed. “Bobby split the money he'd saved for his kids’ education between May, Harry, and me. I didn’t know about the money until Athena told me.”

“So you bought a house with it?” Hen asked.

Buck shoved his hands in his pockets and shrugged awkwardly. “Breaking a lease and getting kicked out of a sublet in the same year doesn’t really make you appealing to landlords. Had to live somewhere.”

Eddie at least had the decency to look apologetic at that statement.

“So, how long is this 'little bit’ that Harry’s staying with you for?” Chimney asked.

It was Harry’s turn to shrug. “It’s been seven weeks. Mom hasn’t found a place she likes yet.”

“Athena can be … particular,” Hen said.

Harry snorted. “That’s one way to put it.”

“Hey, why haven’t we seen your new place yet?” Chimney asked.

Buck shrugged again. “Things have been… you know. Didn’t seem like the right time.”

“So you’re just crashing on the couch?” Eddie focused on Harry again.

“No, I’m in the guest room.”

“You have a guest room?” The rest of the team looked surprised.

Buck felt defensive. “I mean, I wasn’t going to live in a loft with no walls forever. If I was buying something, why not buy something that has room for other people? Like, say, my niece and nephew who will one day be old enough to sleep over?”

“At least none of you were there for the great paint debate of 2025, figuring out the kids’ rooms colours was not easy,” Harry said, going for a third muffin. Buck was pointedly ignoring the food theft.

“That wasn’t what I meant,” Hen said. “It’s very… putting down roots of you.”

Buck’s mouth twitched, not quite sure how she meant that.

“You can head out a little early if you want,” Hen offered. “We’ll be able to cover the last hour.”

“Oh, I’m fine to wait here,” Harry said. “I have my books and a couple things I can work on.”

“Don’t be silly, you were nice enough to come get Buck, I can let him go early,” Hen insisted. “Captain’s orders.”

“I mean… only if it won’t put you guys out. I wouldn’t mind having a little longer to work on the sink.” Buck shifted from foot to foot, feeling torn.

“Go, go,” Hen shooed them towards the stairs. “See you next shift Buck. Harry, you're welcome to stop by any time.”

Harry flipped the Jeep keys back to Buck as they walked down the stairs. “I don’t know how you drive around this city every day. The drivers are insane.”

“They’re insane everywhere,” Buck told him, his voice fading as they got closer to the firehouse doors. “You get used to it.”

“So… no one else knew about this development either?” Chimney asked when the other two were out of earshot.

“Nope.” Hen shook her head. “Maddie didn’t say anything about an inheritance from Bobby?”

“As far as I know, she thought he was renting too.”

“Eddie, he didn’t tell you anything about it?”

Eddie shook his head. “He just told me he found a place and he’d need a few extra days to get movers.”

“I wonder why Athena didn’t mention the inheritance, or that Harry’s staying with Buck,” Hen mused. “Karen and I had dinner with her last week.”

“She probably assumed you knew?” Chim suggested.

“Yeah, I guess. Anyone else catch that Jee and Robby have their own rooms, and there’s a guest room?”

Tease Tidbit Tuesday

Are people doing these anymore? Anyways, I wrote a bit of the Robbie fic ahead of this week's ep. Godspeed.

“Should Chris and I go see Shannon and then meet you at Bobby’s in, say, 15 minutes?” Eddie asks. He holds a set of crutches out to his son and moves to help Buck with the capsule. Buck lifts the capsule out of the backseat and wipes a smudge of the baby-friendly sunscreen from Robbie’s nose. The boy squirms away from Buck’s touch, making an unhappy noise. “Sounds like a plan.” Buck rests the capsule against his hip, twisting his arm around the handle so it rests more comfortably. He gives Eddie a quick peck and ruffle’s Christopher’s hair, grinning as the 19-year-old grumbles and fluffs his curls up again. “See you in a bit. Say hi to Shannon for me.” They go their separate ways. As Buck weaves through the headstones, he chats quietly to Robbie. The sunshade protects the baby from the worst of the July sun, but his toes catch a burst of light every so often, and he wiggles them with delight as they slowly warm. “We’re gonna go see Grandpa, baby,” Buck tells Robbie as they come up to Bobby’s headstone. It’s not far from a small pond, some trees and benches nearby. There’s families having picnics in the sun, laughing to each other as they pass food around. Robbie tilts his head back, looking for Buck’s voice. He reaches up – a skill he’s perfected in the last couple of days – and bats at the brightly coloured toy that hangs above him. Buck feels a tight clench in his chest as he sees the familiar outline of the deep grey headstone. There’s a shield engraved up the top, a large 118 emblazoned in the middle, and a delicate sprig of flowers that cascades down the side – Athena’s addition. Due to circumstances, Buck & Bobby Week had to be postponed. After discussing it with a lot of you using polls and discord, we've come with a new date:

June 30 - July 6

Everything else stays the same! The prompts assigned to the days, the rules.

So, instead of making one for each event I host, I ended up making a discord server with different categories. I'm still figuring out how things work so things might still change or be added.

BUT I do think it is time to let people in!

I feel like I filled this prompt in a very roundabout way, but I think it turned out pretty damn cute 🥰

“Is this too many pairs of socks?” Eddie asks, pulling out a handful of bundled socks, turning to Buck with a slightly crazed look.

“You know, um—“ Buck says, leaning over to grab the corner of the bag to look inside, sending a few bundles of socks tumbling to the bed. “I think it depends on what exactly we’re doing? Because I can’t think of anything that requires…twenty pairs of socks and only three pairs of pants.”

“You’re right,” Eddie mutters, grabbing another handful of socks and turning around to dump them in back into the drawer. “Can you pull up how long it’ll take to get to El Paso if we left now?”

Buck freezes, then blinks rapidly as he watches Eddie continue to pull clothes out of the dresser, including some that Buck recognizes as his own.

“Did—did Chris call you?” Buck asks, barely loud enough for Eddie to hear. But he does, and he freezes, still holding one of Buck’s shirts in his hands.

“No, uh,” Eddie hesitates for a split second, crumpling the shirt in his hands. “No. Bobby said something to me today after that false alarm at the school and I got it in my head that we should just go get him—I’m his dad, I should’ve talked to him instead of just letting him go in the first place and—“

“Eddie, I think that is a great idea,” Buck says firmly, cutting off Eddie’s frantic rant. Buck sits up, rapidly tapping on his phone. “If we leave now it’ll take us…a little under twelve hours.” Buck trails off at the end with a groan.

“When would we get there?” Eddie asks, shoving the shirt in the bag and turning back for another. Now there are twelve shirts and still only three pairs of pants.

“Two A.M.” Buck sighs, flopping back against the pillows with another groan.

A Feedback to ABC — Let Buck Choose Tommy because He Wanted Him, not because the Other Options Don't Work

Based on Oliver Stark's interview with US Weekly on May 14, 2025, there's a big chance that Buck will get a woman as his next LI to prove that he's bisexual, not gay, while placating the more conservative audience members 🙄. Last week, I've sent a feedback to dissuade ABC from doing that. I've just sent another one this week, with several points which I haven't mentioned in my previous feedback.

Dear ABC

Thank you for bringing Tommy back. It's too bad that things between Buck and Tommy are left unresolved in Season 8. Please make them together again as a couple in Season 9.

I'm concerned that the show might give Buck another love interest or two before getting him back with Tommy. Please don't do that. I want Tommy to be 'the one' for Buck. Getting them back together after Buck having other relationships make Tommy seems to be the last option, not the chosen partner for Buck. It is as if that Buck is back with Tommy, just because his other relationships don't work. In earlier seasons, Bobby and Athena chose each other, so did Chimney and Maddie. Why it should be different for Buck?

After Abby, Buck has been searching for a meaningful relationship instead of just-for-fun ones. So far, there is no other love interest who treated Buck better than Tommy. Tommy listened to Buck and took him seriously, even when Buck was being ridiculous in the Billy Boil case. Tommy took care of Buck when he was sick, and gave him a present for their 6 months anniversary. Tommy was still willing to stole a helicopter for Buck, despite being hurt by Buck's words the last time they met. Tommy felt when buck was hurt (he cried when Buck broke down because of Bobby's death). Yes, Tommy is insecure, but it's something which could be fixed easily, not deal breaker. Tommy is such a good partner for Buck, why should Buck have another love interest?

In fact, in their relationship, Buck often treated Tommy worse than Tommy treated Buck. Tommy still didn't know that Buck dislike basketball. This indicates that Buck has never come clean to Tommy about it. Buck didn't give Tommy anything for their six months anniversary. Buck didn't called Tommy even after hurting Tommy's feeling the morning after they hooked up. Buck only called Tommy when he needed his help (to run from the FBI and the military), but didn't apoligized for his hurtful words. Buck said that his relationship with Tommy was as important as his relationship with Abby. However, his action hardly proved that. Buck treated Abby with a hot air baloon date to impress her. What has he done for Tommy? I want to see Buck chase Tommy, I want to see Buck jealous because a hot guy hit on Tommy, I want to make Buck work for their relationship, because so far we've seen that it was one sided work from Tommy's part.

In a recent interview with US Weekly (dated on May 14, 2025), Oliver Starks indicates that the show wanted to explore bisexual side of Buck when it came to dating. It sounds to me that the show wants to give Buck another love interest, probablyba female one. If Buck is not bisexual and Tommy is a cis woman, there will be no talk about giving Buck another love interest. Why should it be different because Buck is bisexual? It feels like a discrimination.

There are better ways to show Buck's bisexuality without making Buck date other people and ruin Buck & Tommy's love story in the process. That excuse is also discriminative. A virgin heterosexual doesn't have to date or have sex with other people to prove that he/she is heterosexual. Why bisexual people should be different? I'm bisexual and I'm offended if I have to prove my attraction to men and women with sexual acts. Why is my word not enough? Why do people think they know my sexuality better than me?

We have seen Buck dated enough women in the past to know that he's attracted to women. We don't need to watch Buck date a woman again after Tommy, to know that Buck is bisexual. In fact, even if Buck dated a woman after dating Tommy, some people still would not accept Buck's bisexuality. They would say that Buck dated Tommy as an experiment, and Buck was actually straight all along. They are just bigots who don't want to admit that bisexuality exists. And I don't want to see Buck date men and women again because it will ruin Buck & Tommy's love story. It will make Tommy the last option, not the chosen partner for Buck. Why do you ruin a good love story just to prove Buck's bisexuality, especially to people who hell-bent on denying it?

You can give other indications that Buck is still attracted to women. While he's still single, make him talk about a sexy female porn star he saw in a porn video. Make him read a swimsuit magazine like Eddie did. Make Buck admire the beautiful women he met on an emergency scene like the ones in the Bachelor Mansion episode, etc.

In my opinion, the best way to confirm Buck's bisexuality is by making Buck say it out loud on screen. Eddie said on screen that he was straight. Hen also said that she was a lesbian in earlier season. Why couldn't Buck do the same? Why should Buck prove his sexuality through dating/sexual act instead of saying it out loud like Hen and Eddie did? If the show treated Buck's sexuality differently than Eddie's and Hen's, it would feel discriminative.

Look, I was fine with watching a show were buddie never went canon. I was a tv fan through the 2010s, I’m used to shipping queer ships that will never happen.

But a show in 2025 so blatantly spinning up a media storm around a beloved slash pairing in an attempt to recover viewership after the backlash to a disastrous character death storyline, only for it to come to nothing is where I draw the line. If it had just been the material in the show I’d say fair enough, it was just us with shipper googles (though even that was pushing it) but the buddie press tour this week was not that. It was an intentional effort to drag back fans that they had lost by hinting at a storyline they never intend to carry out.

This was queer bait, pure and simple.

The fact that one of the characters is canonically queer does not negate that. They spent a solid week shopping Ryan and Oliver out to every single press outlet they could to talk about Buck and Eddie’s relationship, to cheekily sidestep questions about buddie, to read thirst tweets about each other to generate buzz. Because they knew that’s what would happen.

They knew killing Bobby damaged their relationship with their longtime viewers and so they thought by leaning on buddie they’d get the viewer boost they needed for the finale.

We were used, plain and simple.

What is Buck and Bobby week?

This is a week dedicated to Buck and Bobby from 911 and celebrating their father-son relationship. While a popular relationship, it's not a relationship that people often write about. So, with this event, we make sure there are plenty of new fic for us Buck & Bobby lovers!

What is the schedule?

Today (January 4th) the poll to vote for which month to fo Buck & Bobby week went up and goes for 7 days.

After there will be a poll to determine which week it will be, also running for 7 days.

Once we have a date, I will start working on a form where you can submit prompts and share this. This will be open for around a month. Less depending on how much time is left until the chosen date.

Once the form is closed, I will make a new form where you can vote for your favorite prompts. In the end we need 21 word/trope prompts (example: hugs, navy seal buck, hurt/comfort) and 10 sentence prompts (example: "did you steal my hoodie?", "what do you think you're doing?", "have you eaten yet?")

Depending on how many prompts and the results of votes, there could be a third form with the winning prompts to narrow it down more.

Then I'll make a post with the winning prompts and you can start writing!

And then we'll have Buck and Bobby week :)

Are there any rules?

AI is NOT allowed. Use of AI will end with your posts removed from the AO3 collection and being blocked on Tumblr. AI is theft.

This is to celebrate the father-son relationship between Buck and Bobby, NOT romantically. Romantic fics between them will not be included or reposted.

No abuse or SA taking place between Buck and Bobby. You can for other characters, but PLEASE tag accordingly! Use warning in both the warning section and the tags. I also recommend putting these warnings in an author's note and while posting on Tumblr. These are topics a lot of people want to avoid.

If a fic includes bashing of other characters, please tag accordingly as well. And, obviously, no Buck or Bobby bashing. (It would be preferable no bashing at all, but I'm not going to forbid or restrict you from writing it if you want to.)

Nope. You can just post when it's time. Of course it's fun to let people know you're participating, but that's completely your own choice.

Sure! I do have to say a lot of people avoid anonymous fics because a lot of times they're very triggering or hateful to people. But if you don't feel comfortable using a username, it's a great way to still share your work. And I'm sure plenty of people still read anonymous fics.

Do I have to do all days?

Nope. While that is the most fun, if there's only one day you have time or inspiration for, that's amazing as well. You can skip days you don't want to do. It's completely up to you.

Is it limited to fics?

It's not! You can use any form of creativity. Think of:

Is there a minimum or maximum word count?

Nope. No restrictions here either. This means you can also submit snippets. Or a full on novel with 100k+ words. Every number is allowed :)

How do I get it into the AO3 collection?

The collection isn't created yet and will be around a month before the event. Once it's created you can find the option 'post to collections / challenges' right underneath 'associations'. In this you search for the name, which I'll post on here once it's created. Once your fic is posted it'll be added to the collection.

I've never posted on AO3 before and don't know how.

I'm planning on making a quick tutorial soon, either on here or on @911buddieweek in which I'll explain the meanings of each parts, like ratings and warnings and the most used meanings behind them. Keep an eye out! If you want to know before I post, you can send me a message.
