But heck yeah. I love the idea of Bruce being normally a great detective but being too emotionally illiterated to catch this types of nuance. Bruce is all confused trying to discover the evil thing Riddler was doing at a gay bar and his Robins are screaming, crying, thorwing up over their dad's stupidity even more because Bruce gave them the mission report from Valentine's Day.

Bruce goes to confront Riddler over it and Eddie is genuinally confused the whole confrontation and ends up cconcluding Batman is homophobic. It goes to the point Selina has to talk to Bruce to fix it. Specially because Tim finds the homophobic Batman rumors funny and keeps aaying things like "yeah he totaly discriminates me, yesterday he tried to ground me because I was hanging with my boyfriend" (does not mention that Bruce grounded Tim because he and Bernard were trying to hack into Área 51 with the WayneTec IP) or "He refuses to give me cooffe because I like guys" (Bruce isn't refusing to give Tim coffe is just that all the Batfam members barr Alfred are coffe adicts and therefor who gets the coffe is decided by several races to the coffe machine, will power and the hability to steal the cup from the hand of your fellow batfam member). Bruce slowly is abble to fix it. Mostly with help from the Sirens.

Now while Batman is homophobic Bruce is bi and very vocal about queer rights and defending minorities and a true gay icon.

It’s Gregory Edgeworth time!

I think that I truly began liking him, as in that I went “oh no, I love him” when Manfred von Karma began ranting about him in 1-4. At the time I had no inkling that Ace Attorney Investigations exist, so I was fully resigned to have my favourite AA character to be the dead elevator dad who got precisely two flashbacks and no actual lines. I’ve made do with less, honestly.

Ummm. Hahaha. You’re not gonna believe it, but I haven’t reached the part of AAI where he is, so… Yea. I have no canon quote I can supply. But I have a non-canon one: “Geese.”

He is a younger brother who suffered a lot of headaches because his parents never had his eyesight checked. Was great in geometry and had and still has a very good spice tolerance, because his family currs everything with capsaicin.

Homosexual. But, like, he didn’t realise it. “Everyone wants to have sec with mem, that’s normal. Men are very attractive. You marry and cherish and sleep with women to have a family. That’s how how everyone does it.” And then he never felt the need to ever ask anyone if it was an universal experience.

Future, as in the one in which he is dead? His last will didn’t have much in it, but it expressed specific desires about his funeral. So at the cemetery he lays under a headstone that says “I am telling you, six feet is not deep enough to keep it buried all.” Miles doesn’t remember which cemetery it is (he last visited when he was 9), so one day there is a dark humoured surprise going to tackle him when he walks by.

Gregory was a quiet inquisitive kid that was an absolute problem magnet. He then had a very harsh rebellious phase that hadn’t truly left him, he merely learned to put a suit on. He learned to sneak in and out of the house without being caught, started smoking, learned knife tricks. Surprisingly when he began seeking the trouble out, he could never find it. He was that kind of a kid and teen who Had Ideas, so while he didn’t have many friends, he was often involved in playing and outings to make things interesting.

I am deeply convinced that he started his career as a prosecutor, but then moved to a whole new city and began over as a defense attorney. He’d seen four barrels too much of corruption among prosecutors to enter another Prosecutors’ Office. Ms. Edgeworth might had known, Gant maybe ran fingerprint identity on him and learned, but Gregory never told anyone.

Gregory had gotten himself detained numerous times for trespassing on crime scene and getting into fights with police officers. He also knew how to pick locks, and handcuffs were fairly low-grade locks back in the day, so in fact jamming the attorney badge’s pin in the lock opened the cuffs 98 % of the time. As such, Gregory was usually out of the precinct before the paperwork for his detainment was processed. He returned the collected handcuffs in a present-box sent to the precinct on the New Year. So in Miles’s inheritance as a box of 10 pairs of handcuffs that Gregory ‘obtained through 2001 and never managed to return on the account of dying.

Well! I finished Ace Attorney: Investigations 1!! What a wild ride.

(Here’s my thoughts from before I started the final case)

As for my CURRENT thoughts on the game, I really liked it overall!! I thought a lot of the stuff it did with the Yatagarasu was REALLY great, I love Kay, and Lang endeared himself to me by the end lol. I like how he’s like. intensely gay and mean but also he cares a lot about his “pack.” Talk about an alpha male. AND KAY IS SO. She’s so silly she’s just trying her best. She really adopted Edgeworth as her dad. And he keeps telling her not to commit crimes but she wants to do crime so so SO bad.

But my FAVORITE part of AAI was Edgeworth’s thoughts on justice and truth. Obviously it relates to his past with Manfred von Karma and how he was taught to be a prosecutor, but also the way he forms his own identity and realizes that some people are above the law, but he still believes that the truth has to come out and stop them. I think it forms a great parallel of sorts to Phoenix in AA4, if that makes any sense. Like, themes of using evidence you’re not supposed to use, how you have to break the rules to win... But also changing the game for the truth.

Also, I think it’s hilarious that it takes place over the course of like, three days tops, and Edgeworth finds what, four or five dead bodies in that time? What bad luck.

A few more spoilery things under the cut

My least favorite thing about the last case was how LONG it took to get Alba. Like it was just over and over and over him denying anything. It wasn’t fun!!! But I understand why they wrote it like that. They needed him to be confident, for him to be a foe who’s near-impossible to take down. But by the time they showed the THIRD contrivance that SUDDENLY gave them more evidence when ALL HOPE SEEMED LOST!!! I felt exhausted. And then it just KEPT. HAPPENING.

Worth it for Edgeworth going “what would [Phoenix Wright] do? Someone who can turn around any situation...” though!!! I loved that!!!

My big issue I guess is that while I was VERY interested in the Yatagarasu case, and how Callisto Yew BECAME SHIH-NA and FUCKED EVERYTHING UP, it felt like the smuggling thing was important, but wasn’t, like, EMOTIONALLY important to me. So while Alba getting caught is a win, I definitely think it took too long, because the big emotional climax for me was Yew getting caught and the GUN BEING HELD TO KAY’S HEAD. Literally so cool.

Still!!! Overall very cool!!!

Also Franziska’s presence in the game is perfect thank you Franziska for being there and being condescending to your “subordinate” Edgeworth.

yes i would like to critique AA again

so I feel like AA as a whole but mostly the post trilogy games kinda try not to have emotional moments? So in the trilogy there’s plenty of them i mean Mia’s death, Maya getting to see Mia again when she was channeled by Pearl (which made me fucking sob), the Skye sisters reconciling, Maya reuniting with Pearl and Phoenix after she was kidnapped, THE  WHOLE ENDING OF T&T AND TURNABOUT GOODBYES yeah? and then AA4 uhm i mean i get emotional about a lot of stuff in that game but we’re talking intentionally so the ending it has more of a feel good vibe but Trucy talking about how she knew her dad was alive but she has a new family and then there’s the picture at the end....but why didn’t we have Trucy act more emotional i know she’s supposed to be someone who hides how she really feels (which is something they already did with Maya but anw) but STILL and why didn’t we get a scene after the trial why didn’t we get Phoenix being happy about all the bullshit in his life being over and shit like that, but ok what about AA5...for a game so eeeeh it really delivers in the last case ESPECIALLY on the emotions it hurts like a bitch you fucking feel the grief that Aura feels, and we do get an emotional moment with Athena and Simon so thats something, and i don’t remember like anything from soj other than Trucy hiding in Edgeworth’s suitcase, some of turnabout storyteller and that Trucy did actually open up to Apollo and Athena a bit, and then the AAI games are well...in the first one its just Kay in turnabout reminiscence with her having to learn that her father is dead and also Miles comparing his own experience with losing his father to her. AND then AAI2 the blessing from god to us all honestly is kinda on the same level as the AA trilogy i mean the entirety of the inherited turnabout like do i even have to explain and the entirety of the forgotten tunabout??? i’ve talked about AAI2 a lot so i’ll try to keep this short, Miles accepting the past and just being proud of being a prosecutor and maybe finally understanding that his dad would not be dissapointed in him is so fucking emotional and how much he cares about Kay is also just so AAAAAAA, Sebastian getting the courage to be better than his father and just the groth he shows in that case especially when he says ‘thank you for everything and goodbye’ LIKE THE MATURITY???, Justine’s phonecall with John is also just so heartwarming so much stuff in that game oh my god (i might be very very biased) but seriously i feel like all the games other than AAI2 and AA5 in the last case just don’t do emotional moment like the trilogy does 

and i am ranting so bad this doesnt even make sense anymore probably but i was trying to say that i feel like AA games lack the same strong emotional moments the trilogy had but AAI2 and some of AA5 is an exception to this (and i don’t mean that i don’t get emotional during the other games, i do but it definitely wasn’t intentional)

any dadworth headcanons?

I’m going to start this off with Kay since she’s the one I think about in a Dadworth situation most often. She’s older and fairly independent, so I don’t think she really... thought she needed a dad/father figure? Her own dad died when she was ten, though, so she’d been missing lots of his influence throughout her teenage years.

We never really get much backstory on Kay’s family situation, only that she’s with her maternal grandparents, or at least family of her mother’s, who apparently live far away from the courts -- so it’s strange that she’s back for AAI and AAI2, if she’s supposed to live far away? And it’s also strange that we never hear anything from them. Even when she loses her memories, they never call... and she is shown later to have her phone on her, with no breaks in between the start of the Forgotten Turnabout and the Grand Turnabout. I was talking with my friends about this and we figured out that, since Amnesia Kay is only brought to Miles’ office at 1:23PM, she probably spent the whole morning waiting for a call and no one did. On top of that, even though Amnesia Kay has a lot of differences from normal Kay, she does still appear to keep some subconscious stuff (like the word association thing she does with Miles where she associates everything with thief stuff still.) So I actually find it a pretty interesting character thing where her subconscious seems to believe she’s a burden on everyone; it gives some possible insight into her home life. In that sense she’s probably never felt parental love since she was ten... and, hey, teenagers need trusted adults too.

So then she meets Miles who reminds her so much of her dad, and also worries over her and fights to protect her, and it’s kind of like this return of feelings that she hasn’t experienced since she was a little kid. She might not necessarily need it, but it’s definitely very nice to have. She also trusts him a lot and looks up to him! This is also a big thing for Miles too. There’s a line in the Imprisoned Turnabout where Kay calls him a hero and it makes me feel so much. Here’s Miles who for most of his career was considered a “demon prosecutor” who is generally considered cold and closed-off and cruel, yet Kay can look at him and call him a hero. She’s never known him as the demon prosecutor, just as the hero who helped her take down her father’s murderer and supported her through hard times. That’s a lot!! Then AAI2-4 really lays it on thick how much they care about each other and have changed each other, and ughhh it’s so goooood.

There was a point I was going to make that I’ve spent like ten minutes sitting here trying to remember but I CAN’T

Then you’ve got Seb, who has pretty much never felt parental love in his life, except from possibly his mom, and who knows what happened to her. Miles starts off kind of as a mentor figure to him guiding him through prosecuting, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he took more of a role in Sebastian’s personal life as well, teaching him how to cook and clean and take care of himself, essentially all the things Blaise was supposed to do but didn’t. And eventually Sebastian starts seeing him as more of a father than Blaise was, which isn’t a high hurdle to clear, but it means a lot to him.

In my headcanons, I don’t know if Miles would ever formally adopt them; they are close in age and by the time he considers it, they’d probably be adults already. But they do see him as a father figure, and he’s the person they go for both career and general life advice. Similarly, he cares for them as if they were his children, and goes to their graduations and ensures they’re taking care of themselves and takes pride in their accomplishments. Miles has a lot of family trauma and especially fatherly-related trauma so I think it would be hard for him to accept that he thinks of himself as a kind of father-figure to them, especially when in the case of Seb he has bad experiences with that. People like Ray probably joke about them being Miles’ kids though haha. 

I think that Kay like... barged into his life and helped him open up his heart a bit, and then Seb was the one who really made him think of himself in more of a responsible, guardianship role towards these two basically orphaned teenagers who think he’s cool and responsible and a hero. I think they mean so much to him even if he never fully admits it to himself, and they become such an important part of his family. They share a lot of common points and Miles can be to them what he needed when he was younger.

Jimothan:

He doesn’t like bringing it up and tries to keep it a secret. But uh...when both your eyes and teeth glow it gets kinda difficult.

He would never purposefully show his demon attributes (like horns, tail etc), unless he perhaps get angry? - If anyone’s threatening Parsley he would flip...But don’t tell Parsley that his dad is protecting him.

A part of why he talks so excessively about ‘MANLY’ stuff is because, Well, he’s not a human man. He’s kinda fallen into the habit of kind of,, exaggerating being a human. Parsley has grown up around humans, and has way more of an understanding.

If someone showed him any horror movies or “found footage” videos about demons, he WILL say its fake. He gets a little defensive about it…

If you’re very special to him, there will be a tender moment where he lets his defence down a bit, and he’ll show you his true form. (This can be romantic or platonic aay). But this is a huge this for this poor man. This is him trusting you with a LOT. He’ll try to play it off as nothing, but he’s very nervous.- Mod Gay “His horns curl upward. They’re pretty long, and honestly a pain when doorways are concerned. His tail also has a bit of a crick in it. He says it’s from a fight, and his tail got busted pretty bad.”

Parsley:

He’s very awkward about it….he has a love-hate relationship with his demonic heritage.

Might have some father-son bonding conversations about being partially demon.

This is the sole reason why he can eat “weird” food.

They don’t walk around at night….moths man…..moths.

Gets nervous if someone asks him to explain why his eyes glow...don’t ask him for the love of god.

Even though he’s half?? Demon he has a very low alcohol tolerance.

Despite his looks he’s kinda strong, i mean he is carrying a briefcase around all day. Who knows what’s in there….

If you become very close (romantic or platonic) he might be willing to show you his horns and tail. autistic miles edgeworth headcanons because it’s autism acceptance month and also i’m playing aai2 and i have a lot of thoughts

i’m keeping these mostly happy (even though i have sad headcanons too) because it’s autism ACCEPTANCE month

(which means most of these are gonna be about miles when he’s younger because uh... i can’t look at manfred von karma and think he would be a supportive adoptive parent to an autistic child i’m sorry...)

(note: i’m not on the spectrum myself, i’m trying to be sensitive but if i fucked up just let me know)

i might write fic later on this month? i just... wanted to throw some stuff out there for now.

gregory edgeworth is also on the spectrum, but never got a formal diagnosis, and he and miles have a lot of stims and triggers in common

(gregory totally would have be diagnosed with asperger’s if he had been, though, given his age and how he presented)

(gregory’s parents weren’t super great at handling him being different, so his whole approach to parenting miles is “whatever is the opposite of what my mom and dad did, i’m gonna do that thing”)

when he little miles used a keyring with pictures of emotions to help communicate to greg how he was feeling whenever he went nonverbal, as well as a couple of general/all purpose communication boards he would carry around with him and point at if he was nonverbal and needed to communicate

miles’s favorite stim is rubbing his hands on soft/smooth textures, which is why his suit jackets are super soft (and why he grabs his elbow when he’s upset, because the soft texture is soothing)

on that note, when he was younger he LOVED to rub his dad’s ties because they were really smooth. sometimes he would just sit next to his dad or on his lap and rub his tie between his fingers for ages.

(greg had one tie that was kinda scratchy, which was given to him as a gift and he felt he couldn’t get rid of it, but HE didn’t like scratchy textures either, so when miles touched it once and IMMEDIATELY reacted badly, greg finally donated it to a thrift store)

gregory also loves soft/smooth textures and it’s why in aai2 he will spend time adjusting his tie and touching the brim of his hat

in his in-game sprites miles spends a lot of time looking away from the player/phoenix because he doesn’t do good with eye contact

canon fact: young miles spent all his free time reading law books, to the point that gregory was a little worried he wouldn’t be able to make many friends. headcanon fact: CRIMINAL LAW SPECIAL INTEREST

also, the steel samurai? another special interest

miles was and still is a very “picky” eater, in particular he seriously dislikes certain flavors. this is why he’s a tea and food snob

in addition to soft textures, miles really likes pressure on his skin, especially a snug tightness around his neck, which is why he wore bow ties as a kid and wears the cravat as an adult. if he absolutely *has* to dress down and can’t wear a tie or cravat for some inexplicable reason he’ll wear turtlenecks so he can still have that sense of snugness at his neck

sometimes if miles didn’t have his communication board with him for some reason and had gone nonverbal (especially if miles was having a meltdown) greg and miles had a system where gregory would hold out on hand and ask a question like “are you hurting?” and then hold out his other hand and say “or is something else wrong?” miles would point to whichever hand was correct and greg would basically do a process of elimination with questions until they got to whatever was upsetting miles

also greg would pretty much constantly ask miles “do you need to take a break?” whenever miles seemed to get fidgety/anxious and if the answer was “yes” miles would be immediately excused to go find a quiet/dark place and rub soft things until he felt ready to come back

speaking of soft things, miles absolutely had a very soft blankie he carried with him everywhere

sometimes kids would tease him about having a blankie as he got older, but gregory would just point to linus from peanuts and be like, “it’s okay to have a blankie”

also when miles finally decided he didn’t want to carry the blankie around anymore (mostly because of teasing/bullying), greg offered to have parts of it made into a handkerchiefs. miles still has several of those handkerchiefs

miles is good at metaphors and sarcasm, but just flat-out does not understand 99% of facial expressions or most social cues. it’s why he thinks phoenix is smug at the end of 1-3 and suspects him at the beginning of 1-5 and why he doesn’t ever pick up on anybody flirting (whether they’re flirting with him or someone else)

gumshoe’s been dating maggey for like, two years and miles had no idea they were a thing until they announced their engagement because they never actually told him they were dating

miles picks a lot of his habits and mannerisms up via imitation, which is why he uses the exact same body language as manfred von karma when he’s bratworth a young prosecutor

miles still goes nonverbal as an adult sometimes, and usually uses texting or writing things on notepads to communicate when that happens

uh yeah so. that’s a thing!

i know autism acceptance month isn’t actually about like, fan content, but the real reason i wanted to make this post is because i think there’s a TON of evidence for autistic miles in aai and aai2 and i just wanted to share some random headcanons, and it also just so happens to be april

´Het is goed, Coco. Kom, dan gaan we een tussendoortje eten.´ Coco´s gezicht klaart weer een beetje op. Ze huppelt vrolijk voor mij de deur uit. Ik kijk nog even over mijn schouder, naar Dorothy. Papa zegt dan misschien dat ze op en dag een realistische artificieel intelligente robot wordt, maar nu is ze slechts doodeng.

Priyark31: The Raikar Case is the first web series I've watched and it is Kunal's first web series too, so I feel very happy about it. The role of Mohit was a very essential one, as, though the character wasn't focussed on much, it was central to the storyline. Kunal has brilliantly given justice to this role. I really loved the scene between father and son, when Yashwant and Mohit were shown emotionally connecting for the first time. The regret that this bonding did not take place before is clearly visible in the interaction. @kunalkarankapoor has played the part of an overwhelmed son who finally gets the attention and love of his father, that he had longed for all these years, perfectly and watching his scenes is a treat. Atul Kulkarni sir has also played the part of a guilty father to perfection.

See, the dream thread on Court-Records was a pretty desolate place before I and a few friends essentially took it over and made it into our personal chatroom, though we regularly keep on topic. And so, so many amazing dreams, dream sagas, and running gags have been born of it. It is now one of the most active threads on the forums.

And one of the longest-running is definitely the story of Drunkworth, or drunk Edgeworth. What a rascal. I can’t believe he’s now my mom.

Ahem. It started around when the fan translation for GK2 came out that we got into the discussion of how OOC Edgeworth seemed in both AAI games, and even more so in GK2. Our discussion inevitably went awry when one of us suggested that he wasn’t OOC, just dead drunk throughout the entire thing. And it stuck.

And a while later, after another friend unintentionally set up the Crack Theory thread, my friends and I overtook that one too when someone (was it me?) brought up our dear Father in Heaven Gregory. At first it was just a silly pun, but then the whole thing blew up into a full-on cult, which we now call the Church of Edgeworthism, complete with scriptures retelling the sacrifices Our Holy Father had made, the suffering the Holy Son endured, and the ascension of one disciple, Phoenix Wright, by solving the DL-6 Incident. Praise be.

And somewhere along the lines, we merged them together, so now whenever we refer to Miles, we have to specify whether we mean his normal self, his drunk self, or his Messiah self; or some combination of the three.

But then it only got worse when I started having these dreams, since we were just getting GS6 news, where Phoenix randomly replaced my father. At the time, I wasn’t sure if Maya replaced my mother, but she was there too. And so, Trucy and Apollo also became my siblings. At first, I thought it was a fluke, but then these dreams kept coming back.

And some other point, someone else’s dream established that Phoenix can’t hold his alcohol for his life, and it sealed his fate as a drunkard too. Just, not as bad as Drunkworth. No one is as bad as Drunkworth.

And then another pivotal dream came along, where I thought I woke up, but was actually having a vivid dream. I woke up to the sounds of the TV playing and thought my parents were up already. But when I went out, it wasn’t my parents. It was Phoenix and Edgeworth on my couch, watching TV. And I just went back to bed and pretended I saw nothing.

Henceforth, they’ve been recurring as my parents, spontaneously replacing them at random, and we’ve been through a lot of weird adventures. And by now, I’ve simply accepted the fact that I’m in the habit of calling Phoenix “Dad” and Edgeworth “Mom”. There was even one dream where they added Maya as a second mother in the paperwork, so I guess I’m in a polyandric family?

And as a result, I sometimes come upon situations where “Dammit, Mom! Just because you’re indestructible and the Messiah doesn’t mean you won’t get burned! Put on some gloves when you’re handling the oven!” And when he doesn’t listen, I tell on him to “Grandpa Gregory”, who’s always watching from heaven.

And yet I still wonder why I’m so disturbed.

Finished Dual Destinies:

- Loved the final case (besides it being split into two cases for no good reason); very good final twist (which I did not expect but seemed very obvious in retrospect) and found a way to showcase everyone despite the overall game’s issue of spotlight stealing by Phoenix.

- Why are the Blackquills so hot? o_o

- Athena is <3

- Miles’ 3Dification doesn’t look very good XD tones down his facial expressions too much.

- a destroyed courtroom makes a pretty cool setting.

- Apollo’s arc feels a bit aborted even though it’s complete. Given that we had an occasion to explore his background and develop him, it feels way too little. I liked what he did get to do thought (the construction of doubt and trust as flip side) and how it works with Athena being similar to Phoenix whereas Apollo has an approach more similar to Miles.

- Phoenix actually completely lacks a character arc, for the first time ever in a AA. There’s shade of potential arc about mentorship and about returning to the law but they don’t come to anything. That makes his spotlight stealing.

- Speaking of Phoenix the writing when you play makes it look like he came back to law to resolve a specific case but knows nothing about the case, nor who was the victim, nor that she’s related to someone in his office, and neither when the execution date was set up for, and basically did nothing in the one year he got his badge back to actually solve the case. Good job, Phoenix! I’ve been told on replay it looks like Phoenix may actually know those things (and picked up Athena on purpose?) but the game doesn’t seem to address that in the text in the end?

- There’s a whole series of parallelism to Justice for All. Countdown has the Lawyer being hit on the head, Monstrous the kind setting in a traditional isolate village and another direct reference, and Cosmic/Tomorrow has a series of parallelism to Farewell which are funny to dissect:

Hostage situation

Tense thriller like set up with deadline

Involvement of an international man of mysterious right out of pulp genre

Somebody showing up dramatically with recovered evidences

Miles showing up out of nowhere

Lesbians

Maya drawings

Ending plays up on the fear the culprit may have of being murdered

Since I kinda hated Farewell, but I liked this one, I guess i approve of how they picked up those themes and put them back again XD

Other overall comments on the game as a whole:

- Athena should at least have been led on the first case. The bait & switch there was painful and unwarranted; and if she had you could at least vaguely claim that each protagonists had been lead on 2 cases each.

- Athena’s case is the only one with no direct JfA parallelism, I feel

- Missed the possibility of examining any places (although i liked the extended crime scene investigation, which felt a  bit AAI like)

- Missed Ema.

- Missed Trucy and i know she was right there but she barely did anything (at least we got a few moments of her assisting her dad which was cute as hell)

- For a game that keeps talking about the Dark Age of the Law, this one was remarkably lacking in political satire for an Ace Attorney. The closest thing we got was Academy, and it never felt like it was commentary as such.

- For people keeping count, this is the third time Miles is here on a case where  a child is being accused of murder, and the second time when they’re accused of killing their parent (no counting Reminiscence; or Samurai). Gotta love those traumatism digging traditions.

- No seriously, why are the Blackquills so hot? o_o
