“You’ve conducted yourself quite admirably under all the attention as of late, little sister,” Larys complimented, taking a seat on one of the padded benches. She perched beside him, smiling her thanks at the servant who came buy with mugs of hot, mulled wine. She inhaled the scent of orange and lemon, the warmth of cinnamon before taking a sip. “Even with your, shall I say, antics at the tourney, they were quite well received.”
“Antics?” she asked lightly, feeling the curl of heat spread across her chest. There was no way for Larys to know what sort of other antics they’d gotten up to. The bite Aegon had left along her shoulder had turned bruised and tender, the imprint of his teeth still deep in the soft flesh. That mark was quite well hidden beneath her jacket and shirt besides.
Larys only hummed and took a sip of his drink. “The other lords have expressed concern at my choice of husband for you, but I have assured them there is no reason to fret. I simply wanted my sister to be cared for and happy.” He gave her a sidelong look, placid expression barely shifting, his dark eyes large and innocent in his expression. “And everyone can clearly see how happy you two make one another. The queen…” he trailed off with a sigh. “Has not quite been pleased but…”
Abby looked down at the deep, purple-red wine swirling in the silver goblet. Anxiety prickled through her, confusion at her brother’s attempt, it seemed, to try to bond with her on something more personal. “Her grace has been very indulgent,” she said softly, mouth twitching into an awkward smile that her brother returned. He inclined his head towards her only just.
“We both understand how passionate the queen’s frustrations can run, little sister,” he said softly, the scent of him cold and clean, like a tomb. Abby blinked, the awkward smile falling from her face. Her throat bobbed, the sting of bile in the back of her throat was almost painful. Had the queen told him what had occurred? Or had Larys, with his strange talents, found out what happened himself. “You will not be her ward for much longer. I imagine, like any mother, she is feeling the maternal ache over the loss of her son to his wife, and the loss of you, who is like a daughter to her.”
The most intriguing thing about The Count of Monte Cristo is that - everytime a new character appears - you look for tiny hints that this is in fact not a new character but just Dantes with a wig
Hello! I've rewritten this ask like five times so I'll just come out and say, you're one of my favorite artists, thank you for all the good stuff you put out, it's inspiring <3 I wanted to ask, what's your method of studying anatomy and expressions?
Thank you! <3
Ngl the last time I studied anatomy with effort, I was a kid in high-school. The only book I had on the subject was the Anatomy for the Artist from Jeno Barcsay. It was huge and detailed, literally muscle and bone deep, but I think my brain is wired more for the feel of things than the understanding 😅
I try to find nude or mostly nude pics for anatomy stuff. Adult photo sites rule as a source, people contort their bodies in all sorts of weird ways and I can usually find someone with the build I'm looking for.
When I sketch based on a ref, I try to pay attention to the silhouette, negative spaces and alignments. They help me correct mistakes.
And obviously I love to exaggarate things. (Evident on the waistline and pulled up leg here.)
Same with expressions, I guess. I try to push them but stay within the realm of believable. It's so easy to make a face look uncanny or creepy or w/e with a smile too wide. I have had a couple commissioners ask me before to tone down the initial expressions on their characters, and I think that was a nice reminder to pull me back to reality lol
It can get especially weird with long narrow faces like Buttons'. I find it a bit tricky to make him have a large open smile while fitting it all on his head.
now I’m not saying growing up on tumblr and deviantart and doing twitch made me have no shame and taught me very specific people skills but how did i just get a position of artistic director at an art house cinema it certainly wasn’t school lmao
lrb reminds me that I was like 12 when no scrubs came out and my circle of female friends took the song so seriously that I really think we all thought that having to fend off scrubs trying to holla at us from the passenger side of their best friends ride was going to be much more relevant in our lives than it was in reality. much like quicksand really
Long-term and long time collaborator Shuicide Holla decided to get a fully hand drawn single cover for his song "Splash".
He is probably one of my longest clients to date, since starting the creative studio.
We have done about 25 to 30 projects since and still working!
I will start to document these projects better on here from this day forth.
This was created over a one week period...
He initially explained the concept of wanting something to do with the story of Adam & Eve.
Additionally, for it to also embody sea and water with the appearance of a mystery woman.
For this final result..
Remember, if you'd like to create something for yourself feel free to get in touch by email or the official website's chat option bottom right of the website.
Be sure to have a budget in mind!
I look forward to crafting something special for you.
What makes Persuasion so special imo is that it is the only Jane Austen book - apart from Lady Susan - where the female hero knows that the male hero is in love with her:
And also knows that the male hero is jealous of another male. Yeah even being happy about that jealousy and „supporting“ it.
The last 1/4 of the book is basically just Anne, kicking down metaphorical doors, screaming: „Go man! marry me!“
No other female hero is pushing the male hero - so much - towards a marriage proposal (in a harmless way *looks at Lady Susan*)
And I think it is also fascinating how no adaptation so far has capture this spirit. Yeah we have the iconic: „He ought not, he does not.“ - speech, and every viewer knows what this means. But no one ever shows Anne going: „oh shit! He loves me!“
