User hamatoanne's fic plagiarism

Hello, I’m the author of The Android, an AO3 Robot OC x Reader fic that was plagiarized by hamatoanne on Tumblr in her Aemond x Reader story, System Error. You can read my AO3 post for more info about the issue. As you can tell by the timestamps on AO3 and the screenshots of her now-deleted story, mine was posted months before hers. I didn’t want to make this public, but it appears Anne has not learned her lesson and is grasping at straws to keep her readers in the dark. She’s been deleting her stories to hide evidence of her plagiarism. I think you deserve to know who your beloved writer gets her words from.

I don’t know this fandom, but I’ve heard you guys can get pretty crazy. Control yourselves. The only one who needs to take responsibility is Anne. Don’t send hate to her mutuals. Don’t send hate to her followers. Don’t stalk or harass or dox anyone. Read through this post and form your opinion.

First bunch of screenshots: A side-by-side comparison of her story (now deleted) and mine (still up and linked above). I took screenshots in advance in case something like this happened so I’d have proof if I needed it. I decided to compare the first chapter of my fic with the first part of hers. I could do the whole thing, but I’m a busy college student and I think just a quick skim of the pictures below is enough for people to see the extent of her plagiarism. 

I have screenshots of her entire post, but I don’t want to make this too long to scroll through and Tumblr posts cap at 30 pictures. I’m assuming some of you have already read her story multiple times, so you’re familiar with the words. If you haven’t, then I should warn you that the fic that she plagiarized is very not SFW. I’ll let you know where the not SFW content starts so you can skip it.

Finally, I DM’ed her. This was just before I posted to The Android on AO3 about the situation. To summarize, I wrote about how I would go about the situation and how hurt I was about a bigger creator stealing from me. I admit, I was too kind and too much of a pushover. I just wanted things to go quietly. She later replied with this and deleted her fic immediately. 

“I was completely stupid for not giving your credit” Why do they always play dumb? You copy that much and can’t even think to put my name there? You credit the artist but not the person who basically wrote your whole story? The story that gave you over 3k notes, so much more clout than any of your other stories has earned you? Total BS.

“I had every intention of giving credit where it was due…But I forgot” Right. Sure. Of course. If she felt guilty about plagiarizing, she would not be so shameless to accept praise like she did. I have examples of where she happily thanked people for complimenting "her work”, but didn’t want to bring other blogs into this, especially since they were none the wiser to her plagiarism. Ironically enough, someone even gifted her a badge for being a good writer the day she replied to my DM. She tagged that post “#a breath of fresh air on a horrible day”. I wonder why her day was horrible. Whoever gifted her that badge deserves their money back.

My thoughts when approaching her DMs were:

If she wants to keep up the story? Fine, just edit the post to say that it was heavily influenced by my story and leave a link to the original. I don’t mind. The readers will see that, click my story, compare the two, and think, “Hey, that’s not just inspiration! She plagiarized!” and her downfall would start from there without me having to do anything.

If she ignored me and didn’t fulfill that request, i would take matters into my own hands and expose her on her own post. Even more damaging.

In the end, she chose to delete the post entirely, getting rid of the evidence and her clout. I actually didn’t expect this outcome since I thought she’d like the clout too much, but I guess she decided this route would be the least damaging to her reputation. Everything was swept under the rug for now. 

And like a fool, I said thanks and went on with my life. But I decided to keep track of her. Because while I was too cowardly to do anything, I knew there would always be someone in the crowd who would take action. And it seems like people did. 

After reading the supportive comments from readers of my fic, I started to regret how lightly I handled it. I wanted to be mature even though I wanted her entire blog to fall and her reputation taken away. But I didn’t want to be a “bad person”. I wondered if I should keep pursuing the issue. I realized that my overly-people-pleasing behavior might lead her to continue her ways. I decided to speak out because others might’ve had their works taken by her and that my silence wasn’t helping. 

Next is her post, now deleted (I wonder why), about how she’s been so sad and how she’s going to be deleting her old stories and starting over. I’m likely not the only one she’s plagiarized from if she’s deleting other stories. At the time, I only saw supportive replies and reblogs on it, but maybe she deleted it after people started calling her out? Idk.

She’s playing the victim game pretty hard. Acting as a kind underdog even though she’s the big creator who stole from a nobody like me. I know I said on my AO3 update that people shouldn’t send hate to her (and even censored her name after she deleted her story) but I guess I’m a little happy that people sought to call her out on her shit. I wish I was as brave. 

Later, a nice person (we’ll call her Bob because she asked to remain anonymous) DM’ed me directly with a kind message. After seeing this, I decided I should take action and expose all of this since Anne obviously hasn’t learned and wants to keep it all hidden. Bob confirmed that I’m not the only victim of Anne’s plagiarism either.

Bob asked that I not use screenshots of our DM’s so here is a transcription of the important parts:

“Hey! I just found out that one of your fics had been plagiarized by someone in the HOTD community. First of all, I am tremendously sorry that happened…”

(For Bob’s privacy, I won’t explain her relation to Anne. Just know that Anne has refused to message her back).

“I definitely think you should make a blog post. with side by side comparison. I am still completely gobsmacked that she pilfered your entire story word for word and changed a few things. We found evidence that she had plagiarized multiple stories. Not just yours. We found out her mermaid!aemond fic was entirely stolen as well as a few others. She has quietly deleted them and hasn't spoken on them since.”

“We surmised that she takes ‘underrated’ fics from different fandoms and changes the name and that's it. It's almost like she believed that stealing from other fandoms was going to draw less attention than stealing directly from the HOTD fandom.”

So if you noticed that one of your favorite Aemond fics is gone, now you know why.

‘But benny, she still wrote her own sentences and just changed it around to fit aemond!’

Fanfiction is transformative. You know what the source material is and who created it. You know you’re not reading a copied and pasted text with maybe some words and sentences switched around. This wasn’t fanfic. According to Google, plagiarism is defined as, “the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.” (See what I did there? I credited Google. Is it so hard to give credit where credit is due?) She copied people's work, didn't give credit to the source material, and claimed it as her own. That's plagiarism.

I wouldn’t have had a problem if she properly credited me and linked the original story. I wouldn’t have had a problem if she didn’t blatantly copy and paste the entire text and premise. I wouldn’t even require getting permission to write a story based on my fic if she had satisfied those conditions.

She’s a 27-year-old grown-ass woman with enough free time to simp over some blond guy with an eyepatch. I’m a 21-year-old college student who only posts fics during the summer and winter because that’s when school’s on break. I’m too busy writing lab reports and essays to be an active writer online. The fact that she can disrespect smaller writers so tremendously should not be acceptable. The fact that she also deceived her devoted readers and friends about her "works" is also unacceptable.

What can you do about this? To be honest, I don’t know what to do. I’ve never had to deal with this before. I want to be a good person and say, “Don’t send any hate to Anne, don’t harass her. Just unfollow her and stop supporting her.” But that obviously hasn’t taught her anything. She’ll just make a half-assed apology, maybe go on hiatus, maybe disappear, and then pop up again under another name to steal from another creator. If you have any ideas on how to deal with this, please tell us. 

She can try to block me or delete her posts, but the evidence is out and the damage is done. Anything she does to hide this mess will only make it worse for her. I’d appreciate people bringing more awareness to this issue, especially if it can reach the eyes of others she’s taken from.

Why do you write Steddie?

It started when my partner asked me to. I’ve always loved writing, but I never got into fanfics until they asked me to write a specific type of story that led to the creation of The Devil of Hawkins. From there it was a slippery slope!

What’s your favorite trope to READ?

Due to ADHD and the corresponding comprehension issues, I rarely read. Not just fics, but anything really. Although, I do personally enjoy whatever the sneaking around trope is. The characters being intimate in places or situations where they shouldn’t be.

What’s your favorite trope to WRITE?

So far I’ve found that I enjoy FWB to Lovers with Steddie. Most of my fics tend to revolve around that.

What’s your favorite Steddie fic?

I’m currently enjoying ‘I Think I Could Have Been Someone’ by @madaboutmunson

Is there a trope you’re excited to explore in a future work but haven’t yet?

I’m new to fandoms so honestly I don’t really know a lot of tropes by name, but I have a long list of fics I want to write at some point. I have a ‘Through The Ages’ Steddie series in mind that I hope to do at some point. 

What is your writing process like?

Harrowing. It’s honestly pretty complex as I’m using writing fanfics as a means to improve as a writer in general so I can be more confident when I get around to my originals. But the short version is: Rough Draft -> Proof Read 1 -> Beta Proof -> Proof Read 2 -> Grammar Edit -> Text-To-Speech Edit -> Final Beta Proof.

Do you have any writing quirks?

Probably, lol. I try to keep my writing concise and leave little up to the imagination. The partner that requested I write fanfics has aphantasia (lack of imagination) and they read everything I write, so I want them to be able to enjoy it just as much as anyone else. 

Do you prefer posting when you’ve finished writing or on a schedule?

I’m kind of chaotic on this one. It depends on the fic to be honest. So far, I’ve found I prefer posting ongoing fics without a schedule that I just post a chapter on as soon as I’m done editing it, whenever that happens to be. Other than the ‘You Know Where to Find Me’ series, the only fics I’ve posted on a schedule have been event fics and it’s been a bit more stressful than I expected it to be.

Which fic are you most proud of?

That would have to be my ‘You Know Where to Find Me’ series. Particularly the first one: ‘Valentines ‘85’ 

How did you get the idea for You Know Where to Find Me — Live Aid?

I needed something powerful between ‘Independence Day’ and ‘First Day of School’ but couldn’t think of anything that would work. @stardust-walker helped me work out the details. That entry genuinely wouldn’t exist without their help. 

When writing Nectar, what was something you didn’t expect?

Managing to stay under the 20k word limit. 😅 

What inspired Give Me Fuel, Give me Fire?

What was your favorite part to write from From Hell and Back?

That’s a hard one. I don’t think I have a singular part that I liked the most, but I really enjoyed being able to explore the logistics and lore around Eddie being a shapeshifting demon. In and out of Steve’s bedroom.

How do/did you feel writing Give Me Fuel, Give me Fire?

I was surprised by the reception it got, and I can’t wait to get back to writing it as soon as I’m done with the Stranger Things Reverse Big Bang

What was the most difficult part of writing You Know Where to Find Me — Live Aid?

The time limit. I had 2 weeks to write and edit nearly 30k words. It made me hit burnout HARD, but I got it back pretty quickly.

Do you have a favorite scene and/or line from any of your fics?

I think that would have to be the first kiss in The Devil of Hawkins. It was also the first Steddie kiss I ever wrote. 🤍

“You aren’t stopping me, Harrington.” Eddie’s lips barely grazed over Steve’s as he spoke. “I know,” Steve squeaked. The feeling of Steve’s lips plucking his like a guitar pick was more than he could handle. He leaned forward, finalizing the kiss. They both let out a small groan. Eddie placed his other hand on the back of Steve’s neck, holding his head carefully, yet firmly. Eddie pulled away for a moment and looked at Steve; there was a look of longing on his face. An expression that Eddie was hoping for. He faintly smiled before pushing Steve’s lips to his own, plunging his tongue between them. He could feel Steve tense below him before relaxing into it.

Do you have any upcoming projects or fics you’d like to share/promote?

‘You Know Where to Find Me’ will be coming to a close in March, but there will be at least 5 more entries to it. I will also be posting my entry for the STRBB in March. I hope after those are done I can jump back into my ongoings.

Outside of these questions, Is there anything YOU would like to add?

hello! this is about your recent post where you mention in the tags that it’s okay to ask you about syscourse? sorry if that’s not what you meant, you can ignore this if you want.

for context, i don’t really have an opinion on endogenic systems, since i don’t think i have a place to. i’m a singlet — i once asked several (traumagenic) systems that i knew what their opinions on endos were, and, of course, they all gave different answers. (ranging from “it’s ridiculous and offensive” to “i don’t know, some have their reasons [gives list of reasons]” to “they exist and are harmless.”)

the problem is, i can see the arguments on both sides. like, yes, i agree that psychologists don’t know everything and could be overlooking some systems who really actually exist without a traumamatic origin. but at the same time, how likely is it that they’d totally have missed all these endo systems? but psychologists do miss a lot of things, like how autistic women are just now starting to get diagnosed. then again, is that situation really comparable? are there reputable studies published about endos that i just don’t know of?

i agree with what you said about not doubting others’ experiences of their own selves. but that raises the question of whether you should believe the reasons for what they’re experiencing. for example, i don’t believe in every religion. but if someone told me that they prayed to their god and their god comforted them, i wouldn’t doubt the fact that they were comforted — i just don’t think [insert example god here] exists. that’s just a thing that will happen when people have different beliefs. i wouldn’t say that to them, not unless they directly asked me my beliefs, but i just don’t believe in some religions. that’s just part of living, it would be pretty difficult to believe in every religion and philosophy at the same time. i wouldn’t expect anything different for other people regarding my beliefs, either — if i tell someone with different religious beliefs about a religious experience i had, i won’t be mad if they have a different explanation. (for clarification: i’m not trying to say this to be all “look at me, i don’t get mad but you people do!” i really hope it doesn’t come off that way. i try not to think i’m better than anyone, genuinely. i think i’m right about some things, of course, but who doesn’t think they’re right about some things? i can’t believe anything unless i think some things are correct and some things aren’t.)

it’s similar (though not the same) for systems, i feel like. for endo systems who are spiritual in origin especially. i don’t doubt their experiences, but i just can’t believe that some explanations are correct if my belief system is contradictory to it. does this mean i think all endos are secretly traumagenic, or, the opposite, that they’re all faking their experiences of being plural? very likely not. i haven’t seen everyone’s lives or brains.

i wouldn’t cut someone off solely for being endo, and i wouldn’t cut someone off solely for being anti-endo. i don’t know, i feel like i’m supposed to with tumblr culture being like it is. i understand that there’s many traumagenic systems who believe endos are wrong, or faking, because by modern medical knowledge, endos shouldn’t be a thing. they don’t want to be around people who they truly believe are co-opting their hardships for fun or completely misunderstanding what being plural is actually like. and i know they do truly believe that, they’re not being mean for the sake of it or trying to be ableist — as you’re probably aware, they believe that many endos are the ableists. but i don’t have the negative reaction some traumagenic systems have, because i’m a singlet. i can’t say for-sure-for-sure that endos are all super wrong about everything or that they’re all fakers, because i can’t read minds and i’m not omnipresent. i’m skeptical, but not so skeptical that i’ll dismiss it out of hand. i’m floundering around trying not to offend anybody unduly while wondering which people are the ones i actually shouldn’t mind offending.

i’m realizing i don’t have an actual question here. i guess i want someone to talk to about this, since my friend group (containing several of the traumagenic systems i mentioned earlier, the ones i asked their opinions on) has turned decidedly anti-endo. i don’t know when everyone decided to do this, as last year there were still multiple opinions spinning around, but i guess i missed out on a conversation or something. maybe some do still hold their former opinions, or anti-endo alters are the ones fronting more often when the topic comes up. i think they would be fine if i brought the topic up and told them how i felt — my friends are pretty reasonable when people have genuine questions, i highly doubt they’d kick me out or mock me or anything — but still.

i think i just want alternate opinions to consider, and to learn facts about endos i might not know of. i’ll probably stay pretty ambivalent no matter what people say on the topic (and i don’t say this to discourage anyone from telling me stuff, just trying to be honest about what will likely happen). i can imagine myself taking either stance, which means that i can’t in good faith take ANY stance. i have no clue which is objectively correct. i guess the important thing is just that i try to understand everyone’s perspective and be kind to everyone no matter how my beliefs change.

Hey anon, thanks for sending this and I think you're being very reasonable and handling this very well. I have a pretty strong opinion on this, but I don't want that to come off as me trying to bully you for making sure that you do your due diligence before taking up a stance on it; I think the world would be a better place if more people did that more consistently.

First, I really don't believe in the "singlets shouldn't have opinions on syscourse" thing. There's not really a neutral on this one; being neutral on whether or not to believe people about their lived experiences almost invariably just means you're willing to let the antis fakeclaim and often harass people. If you're existing in spaces with systems, you kind of have to have some sort of opinion on it. (And "I don't know enough to know what I think about this yet" is a valid opinion, and one I think more people should be willing to say!)

A major thing here is that science absolutely does recognize the existence of systems outside of DID and OSDD - which is usually what anti-endo people really mean when they say "traumagenic systems," despite the fact that technically it's possible for a system to be traumagenic without meeting the diagnostic criteria for DID or OSDD, and (and this is the controversial one) it's at least theoretically possible for a system to be DID or OSDD and never have experienced trauma - trauma is not part of the diagnostic criteria, and contrary to what anti-endos often say, DID and OSDD are not classified as trauma disorders in the DSM-V, they're classified as dissociative disorders. The theory of structural dissociation is not the be-all-end-all of theorizing on why DID and OSDD happen, and there's no objectively proving that it is.

Anyway. Tangent aside - even the diagnostic criteria for DID acknowledge that there are plural experiences that are not pathological when it makes an exception for possessions and plurality linked to cultural and religious practices. Outside of that, there are indeed papers and articles focusing on non-traumagenic and/or non-pathological plurality, and doubtless more of them mention it offhandedly - here's one short list which I've at least glanced at each of the entries in, and a longer list I unfortunately haven't had the time to read through and thus can't vouch for the links in yet (but it's there for your reading if you like). I'm certain there's more out there; my resources on this are limited.

Even aside from that, I feel like people forget that in psychology, studies and articles "proving" the existence of a phenomenon are just... recording the experiences of people in a mass format. There's no objective test you can do to tell if someone's plural. It's just large groups of people self-reporting their subjective experiences, instead of people doing it one at a time like you see on Tumblr or wherever else. Should I need a study to tell me that my experience of nonhumanity is real? Why is someone's experience of plurality different?

A pathological form of something existing doesn't mean that a non-pathological form of that thing can't also exist. The non-pathological form existing, likewise, doesn't mean that the pathological form suddenly isn't pathological anymore. Normal anxiety existing doesn't mean a clinical anxiety disorder suddenly isn't pathological anymore, and someone having a clinical anxiety disorder doesn't mean other people can't experience normal levels of anxiety about things without it being either faking or secretly a disorder. I mean, obviously this isn't a perfect comparison, but - do you see what I mean?

Re: not having to believe people on why, this is true and fair, but: I don't need to believe a given system's specific explanation for why they're plural, but I do need to defend their right to believe it, and I need to not insist that my explanation or experiences are universal. I also need to raise the point that if you (general you, not you specifically) are insisting that the why must be trauma, you are doing more harm than good - people's brains can and do make up traumatic pseudo-memories under pressure to remember something traumatic that never actually happened, and that has real effects on them even though those events didn't actually happen.

I do take your point about some anti-endos genuinely believing endogenic systems are either misunderstanding or co-opting their experiences. However, I personally hold to the opinion that frankly, this is solidly a them problem. If you can't understand someone else's experiences, and you decide that because of that they must be either wrong or lying, that is a you problem and you need to work on that. If you see someone having fun with (or just having a normal time with) something that's painful and traumatic for you, and you decide that because of that they must be faking or mocking you, that is a you problem and you need to work on that. It is an understandable you problem, because I get where the gut reaction is coming from, but it is still a you problem.

(Note that this is the same thing we say to transmeds, for the same reason we say it to sysmeds - and no, I don't call them "sysmeds" because I'm basing it on "transmed," I call them that because that's what they are, system medicalists, people insisting that the only way to be a system is for it to be a medical, pathological thing.)

Hopefully that helps give you some thoughts to chew on; I'm more than happy to continue this if you like, of course.

So in case any of y’all were interested in Zippo’s origin from my other post (seen here) here it is. I appreciate that his first appearance has a diagram of his tech, and while his spandex is a bit generic, his harness and wheels make him stand out. It is a bit weird that this PI just randomly has invented a harness, but a future story could explore why a PI is a skilled mechanic and inventor. Maybe he wanted to be an inventor but his tech was too niche or impossible to mass produce, so he was forced to use his eye for detail as a PI. There is potential for future stories here. And as a reminder, Zippo is in the public domain, so he is free to use for anyone for anything.

It’s also interesting that while Zippo is faster than any human, he’s not anywhere near the speed of a proper speedster. The Flash and Quicksilver both are so far out of his weight class it’s hilarious. But that’s not a bad thing, its an unique idea to have a speedster using 1940’s machinery to move fast, I can’t recall any other speedsters like that. The tech also stands out against his uniform; it is far from streamline. There is a sense that it is not the optimal way to move fast, but it still enough to let him foil a villain or two. Almost like a street level speedster. If a writer using him has a more typical speedster in their cast, Zippo could be used to show the limits of technology.

I also appreciate that while Zippo is violent, he did not kill his enemies. This is the Golden Age and before the comic code authority, and as you can see the Pirate is not only willing to kill but I believe he is cleaning blood off his cutlass. Zippo sparing him therefore seems like a point of contrast, the Pirate is willing to even kill his own henchmen, but Zippo does not. You could explore a code of ethics here. And from a practical point of view, this theoretically means the Pirate could show up in future stories.

The story is jingoist, what with the focus on war plants and the USO thing at the end, but this story did come out in 1943. War industry is bad, but at least they are fighting the Nazis. (Though I cannot bring myself to read issue two yet because it’s the forties and while I do not know the plot, if Imperial Japan comes up in a story I expect to be horrified. Captain America comics in the forties were very racist. Zippo seems more based in the states than Cap so it might never come up, but spies and saboteurs are still a possibility, so my anxiety fears)

Other notes, his secretary barely appears but her last name is Smith, so if a writer uses him they could incorporate that name as a play on words. Like, maybe she helps him maintain or build his gear. (again, I have not read issue two yet, she might not stick around or their dynamic might differ. Though there is no reason a retelling would have to treat the original comics as a strict bible) Either way, she is in a position that could easily be a recurring role if not a major supporting character. Shame she is such a blank slate in issue one.

As for Joe’s profession, my gut shouts ACAB, especially his use of threatening violence to get enemies to confess. That said, he is approached by Anderson because he is not a part of the system and they don’t want to cause a panic, so there is potential there for him to be written as outside and contrasted against law enforcement. Is he subtler than the law? Is he less important in the eyes of the public so they would not care as much? Would any of that plus Zippo’s smashing success cause resentment among the cops? These ideas are clearly not in the text, but it could be explored by a modern writer. And I will admit, being a PI gives him a reason to be approached by civilians to help them with their troubles, as well as an excuse to investigate in his civies. Reporter is the classic occupation to justify superhero snooping, but this is not the worst job for a superhero to have. That’s billionaire.

a short (re)introduction + my masterlist(s)!

Hey! Since making this account, I’ve had such a great time interacting with people in my fandom, and outside of, along with my readers and fellow writers alike! I thought it was appropriate to make a bit of an updated introduction here for anyone joining me now that I have my footing!

About Me:

You can call me Kay, and please do. Pronouns: he/him. I’m a political and legal nerd in the U.S. who’s neurodiverse and has been writing their entire life. I’ve really fallen in love with the world of fanfiction this year, but I do write original fiction as well, just none that I’ve shared here! I love rom-coms, sitcoms, literary fiction, and nearly every type of music, though I’m partial to jazz. I’m a hopeless romantic, an occasional poet, and sometimes a bit of a walking disaster, but aren’t we all? I’m also over the age of 21 and as an adult writer, for adult readers, I do write and post nsfw material.

Here on my blog, expect to see me post updates, writing plans, snippets, teases, and fic ideas! My asks are always open for questions, interactions, or sending me ideas — I’m here for it all — though I don't take formal requests. I’m also tag-game friendly, and love “meeting” people that way. What I Write:

My fanfiction journey started because of my love for Padmé Amidala from the Star Wars Prequels. I wanted more stories that centered on her, and so I started writing them!

A majority of my stories (written, in-progress, and to be written) are Padmé x Anakin, occasionally with those little Skywalkers as well. I personally enjoy AUs of all types for reading and writing. A lot of my work you'll find is set in a Modern AU because it allows me to explore different facets of the characters' personalities in worlds with new situations and different backgrounds for them to navigate.

As a general rule, I also like focusing on friendships and familial relationships along with romantic ones, so expect to almost always see other characters joining along the way in all of my writing. Many of my stories are domestic or family fluff, but there is some slice of life, hurt/comfort, and light angst mixed in. 

While Anidala is definitely my OTP, I am both multi-fandom and a multi-shipper, so expect to see many other ships in my work and on my page!

Even after months and months of being with Ari, it still crept up on you sometimes, being so flustered over how completely smitten he was with you.

He was a straight up Greek god come to life, he could have anyone that he wanted, and he wanted you.

Talk about hitting the beautiful beefcake lottery.

You smiled a little at the thought before your eyes wandered to the other end of the sofa.

The foot rub Ari was giving you was so concentrated and good, that you expected to find him staring at your feet, all furrow-browed and focused.

And he was focused, but on your face, which had those very familiar-by-now pterodactyl-sized butterflies taking flight in your belly.

"Stopppp," you whined, sinking lower against the arm of the sofa as you resisted the urge to hide.

Sometimes it was a lot having Ari look at you like he wanted to eat you and protect you forever, all at once.

His laugh was quiet and warm, the look in his eyes tender as he smiled and shrugged. "I can’t help it."

"You always look like you want to eat me," you blurted, your face burning as you stifled an embarrassed groan.

"Oh I do." Ari waggled his eyebrows at you, but the look in his eye was…sinful. Wanting.

Desire made manifest.

Whining some more, despite the way your pussy fluttered under his avid attention, you pulled one of the throw pillows over your face.

You felt Ari's hands retreat from your feet, and the sofa shift under the movement of his big body, and then he was tugging the pillow from your face and tossing it aside before crawling over you and sinking his warm weight against you.

"Deal with it, honey," he murmured as he caressed the curve of your cheek with his knuckles. "It’s what you signed up for, forever."

He reached for your hand, gently holding it aloft and gazing down at the diamond sparkling on your ring finger.

Pressing a kiss to your skin, he smiled at you, your favorite kind of smile, all soft and doting and just for you.

You went pliant then, your nerves and embarrassment fading away entirely as you tipped you face up and caught Ari's lips against yours.

Ok so guess what, Siri?? I just went through my DRAFTS programming posts for the rest of December and GUESS WHAT I FOUND??? Lmao apparently cuz you sent this a while back, it saved to the date that you SENT it, not the date I feedbacked and SAVED it to my drafts so this is repetitive, but here are my original reactions, lmao. Fic Origin Story

What was your first fandom (reading and/or writing)? Reading?  Highlander (I come from the time of geocities and angelfire, when we could not dream of the wonder of A03). Writing?  There’s a fairly appalling Smallville story that nobody except me has ever seen, but that still exists in my g-docs for my periodic nostaligia.

What was the first story you ever wrote (even if it was never posted) and what made you decide to write it? I co-wrote a Merlin University AU with a friend that has never seen the light of day because it was never quite finished.  It was 70% about the two of us missing each other, and 30% about both of us missing Edinburgh and has so many in jokes.  It also - bafflingly - kind of made Arthur and Merlin into actual friends (instead of boys with deep slashy tension).  I’m still not sure how we achieved that.

What's a piece of advice you would give to your younger fic-writing self? Be less afraid of what other people will think of you, and acknowledge that it has value if it makes you happy and you enjoyed writing it.

What's an early fandom interaction that stuck with you (be it a nice comment, a friend you made, a fic that got a lot of feedback etc.)? I think it’s just finding people who think like you do.  I’ve been a part of fandom for a lot longer than I’ve been posting in fandom, and some of my best friends are people I met in fandom and then kept long after we each moved on to different areas of the internet.  There’s something just about finding the people who share the same language that you do that is so important.

Post a sentence or two from one of your older fics, and a sentence or two from a newer one (if you want). From an Old Guard Academic AU that I co-wrote with the same friend I co-wrote the Merlin Academic AU (there’s a theme here), and that we should really finish and post because it’s actually like 95% done. The shape of their conversations change.  They become intimate in a way that he associates with late nights, body-warmed rumpled sheets, and the shelter of darkness.  They share stories dredged up from childhood, and things he's not sure he's ever told anyone else before.  The connection of the phone line, of Joe's quiet voice across thousands of miles, feels fragile and precious, and like they're building the foundation for something unshakeable and real. And for entertainment value, the first few lines of the Merlin Academic AU that will probably never be finished. Arthur sighed irritably and marched down the front walk to yank the horse out of range of the roses and tie him up where he couldn’t do any damage.  He walked back to loom over the man on the ground and asked again, “And who the hell are you?” The man grinned suddenly, “I’m Herne the Hunter.” Arthur blinked, “Come again?” He gestured vaguely, “Herne the Hunter, Elizabethan conceptualization of the Celtic deity Cernunnos,” he paused then added, “or possibly of the Anglo-Saxon god Woden.  It depends on which poorly researched popular theory you buy into.” Arthur raised an eyebrow, “You expect me to believe that the leader of the Wild Hunt can’t manage to stay on his own horse?” Herne, for lack of a better name, looked annoyed, “Obviously I’m not actually Herne the Hunter.”

RULES, LAWS, IMPORTANT STUFFS.FIRST AND FORMOST! I love ALL pairings. I will not tolerate any hatred towards any character.

1) These rules are subject to change.

2) There will be no hate messages on this blog. Meaning if I get sent a hate message it will just get deleted. I will not waste my time brooding over your message so you are just wasting your time typing it up.

3) No god modding. Understandably my characters can’t win EVERY single battle and will not win everything. I usually like taking a few and then your character takes a few. I will always, ALWAYS, come to you and ask how the end of the fight will turn out that way I can write accordingly.

4) Writing. I don’t expect a novel back if I write a novel, and sometimes I do. However, I do expect something to work with, please do not respond back to me if I leave you with a detailed post only for you to give me a one liner, it just kills the mood. – In addition! If you would like to respond to an ask please link the ask on a fresh new post, and tag me just in case, that way it looks more appealing. I do that with other roleplayers. C:

5) Original Characters. I love original characters, I personally suck at writing and developing them so for all of you original characters out there I applaud you. However, please don’t use me to come up for ideas of your original character, that’s not my job. If you like for a starter please understand that I will be staring at your character about page for a long, long, long time. It’s a little difficult for me to write for an original character so please be patient!

6) Ships. Here we go … This is a huge one for a lot of people. I am a Multi-shipper or trash – I’ll accept either lol. You are free to jump in my inbox or IM me and be like “Hey baby. You and my muse * suggestive eyebrow wiggle*”. I will most likely be like “FUCK YES LETS GO!” and bam! We ship. But here is my problem with most people: I have a lot of ships that I absolutely adore however, if you don’t like the ship me and my roleplay partner are doing you can either unfollow or shut the fuck up and ignore it, black list it – whatever. I’m saying that in the nicest way possible. I’m tired of people complaining that they “Hate this ship but I saw it and read it so now I’ll bitch on my blog about it.” Calm down, grow up and again, unfollow that person or ignore the post. Plain and simple or else you’ll probably be hearing about it from me. I have been in too many fandoms where this goes on.

7) Exclusives/Relationships. I am a-ok and more than happy to exclusively ship when it comes to main ideas and plot, but please remember that I am only one person and I do like interacting with other people. Exclusives doesn’t mean you own me in anyway. Exclusives to me normally mean that you are a close friend and most likely already have my discord. The more was talk IC or OOC the more likely I will pick you as an exclusive for main plots.

8) Reblogging when you have no permission. During my time of roleplaying on many sites tumblr is probably the worst for this rule. Anyone who reblogs threads, asks or any other communication between my partners that they are not tagged in will be kindly asked to delete the post. If not deleted within 24 hours you will be blocked from my page and I will not remove it.

9) Nsfw. Is only available for people who are of age and adults. I am 29 and I do not take light of being tricked when it comes to age. I will be asking your age if it is not in your mun section or anywhere visible, I will not be held liable if you are lying to me. You MUST be of legal age, please ask if you are interested in rping nsfw.

10) Personal Tags & Passwords. I don’t do personal tags or passwords. Final answer, if you follow me then it means you understand that I will NOT be tagging any personal tags.

11) Triggers. I don’t expect people to tag my trigger mainly because it only happens around Halloween time. I understand people are in the spirit but I absolutely hate seeing scary things pop out at me. It leads me to paranoia and I just can’t sleep at night. Anything paranormal I can’t handle, which is why I can’t watch scary movies. If I do see this on my dash it does lead to an unfollow, but not a block.

12) Icons. These icons have been created by me, but I do not claim that the art is mine. Anything from the managa or fanart I do not claim to be mine.

Crumpled Up Pages: Old Captain Underpants WIPs #1-4

The First Epic Movie turned 5 earlier this month, and I dug through some old folders to write this post about it. In the process, I found some fanfic ideas I’d written down, fleshed out a little, and then forgot about for years. So while hyperfixation still has its grip on me (and while there’s still some extra activity in the tag), I figured I’d finally set these dust bunnies free!

A few ground rules before this deep dive descends:

When I say “fleshed out a little,” I’m putting major emphasis on the “little.” Some of these docs contain detailed notes and snippets of dialogue, but others are just a title and a vague one-sentence summary. I’ll be transparent about what each one contains, and try to fill in the bigger gaps by memory.

If you were around for the CU Fandom Renaissance of 2017, some of the ideas here might sound familiar, ‘cus I refitted them into fanart and headcanon dumps that actually got posted. I’ll link to those where they’re relevant.

These were all written and abandoned months before a CU show was even announced, so there’s no Epic Tales content or characters in here. Sorry if you were expecting any!

I’m splitting this into two posts cus it was getting and taking too long. This first part will cover the 4 simplest, fluffiest WIPs; the second one will tackle the 6 sadder, more character-heavy ones. And with character-heavy stuff comes spoilers for the movie and books — especially the books. If you haven’t read all 12, you’re probably wondering why anyone would care about Captain Underpants spoilers. First off, your loss; second off, BEWARE!

And finally: if you write fanfiction and feel inspired to use any of these ideas? You have my permission to do so! Seriously, steal anything here and put your own spin on them! I don’t care much for credit, but if these old things help fuel someone else’s creativity, I’d love to know!

WIP #1: Inspiration

It can come from even the worst of places. ...And people, in this case. [Book!Verse, pre-Book 1.]

This document contains a long script, but no context; I can remember the gist though, so I’ll insert that in-between dialogue. Basically it’s third grade, and George and Harold are in detention again. They cheat to fill up the blackboards like usual, but they’re too bummed out to start a comic afterwards. George sits around stewing in his frustration while Harold angry-scribbles Mr. Krupp yelling.

“...Why does he hate us so much, George?”

“I dunno. Maybe ‘cause he can’t handle our coolness? …Nice drawing, by the way.”

“Thanks. …It’s making me sad just lookin’ at it, though.”

“Yeah, me too. …I wonder what he’d look like if he smiled.”

“...?”

“...I mean, like, a real smile, not an I’ve-got-you-now smile.”

“Oh. Hmmm…”

Harold erases Krupp’s wide yelling mouth and draws a goofy smile in its place.

“Aw, man, now it’s just creepy.”

“Darn.”

The boys keep editing the drawing until it stops being creepy and starts being funny. George erases Krupp’s toupee, remembering the time they stole it and the teachers couldn’t take him seriously without it. Harold draws one of his office curtains around his neck, adding more color and kinetic energy. Soon they’re struggling not to laugh out loud, but they manage to calm down… until George gets an idea that takes the sketch from great to legendary.

“Waitwaitwaitwaitwait. Remember what my pop said about Superman yesterday?”

“That he looks like… DUDE. Duuuuuude.”

Harold redraws Krupp’s entire lower body so he’s only wearing underwear. Then with a flourish, he adds the finishing touch – two dots on his chest – and they both lose it. All their laughter finally prompts the real Krupp to check on them, and predictably, he rips up the drawing. It upsets the boys in the moment, but they’re still in much higher spirits than before, and brainstorm a new comic about their new creation as they skateboard home.

“You think we should make his origin issue first?”

“Naw, let’s get right to the action! His outfit’s already the perfect hook – finally, a superhero who actually does fly around in his underwear!”

“Yeah, and he could fight with Wedgie Power!”

God, rediscovering this gave me the most uncontrollable grin. From the date it was last opened, I think this fic was meant for September 1st, 2017 (Book 1’s 20th anniversary), and I gave up after missing it. For shame, 2017!me. For shame.

WIP #2: Untitled Boomer One-shot

Harold won’t admit it, but he’d slay a dragon for his little sister. [Book!Verse but only cus this scene was deleted and is thus dubiously canon]

This doc’s nothing but notes, so I’ll paraphrase the plot: Ms. Hutchins takes Heidi and Harold to Boomer the Purple Dragon: Live! Harold was gonna stay with the Beards but they cancelled last minute, and he’s grumpy about it the whole time. When the show ends, kids gather in front of the stage to meet Boomer; Ms. Hutchins suddenly gets an important call, and makes Harold walk Heidi up there. 

But the dragon’s mascot suit is big up close for a 6-year-old, and Heidi gets so scared she starts crying. She’s rooted to the spot and waves her arms in panic, but “Boomer” thinks she wants a hug and waddles closer and closer... until Harold kicks him in the groin. Their mom understandably grounds him for it, but Heidi is grateful and calls him her hero :)

This one was based on the classic “kid hits mascot in the weak spot” genre of AFV, but also on an early memory of mine! My sister and I loved Arthur as babies, so our mom took us to see this thing. The characters suddenly being real (and huge) was so upsetting that we scream-cried until she took us home early. (Speaking of Arthur, it’s a shame Heidi’s never really done anything in canon, I can see her having big DW energy.)

WIP #3: When Worlds Collide

It was less “love at first sight” and more “love at first squawk.” [Book!Verse, Book 7.]

A quick refresher: George told Harold to take Crackers back to dinosaur times, but he left her in the treehouse with Sulu instead. Later in the book, they’re shown snuggling in their sleep 🥺🥺 Anyway, this fic was about what they got up to in between! It’s actually the most complete of the lot, but only because it’s so short and simple.

It opens with Harold introducing them to each other, leaving out some treats for them (hamster food for Sulu, crackers for Crackers), then telling them to play nice until he comes back. They do not. Crackers pulls a Thunderclap the moment Harold leaves, Sulu karate-chops her throat until she spits him out, and they wreck half the treehouse in the ensuing chase.

Eventually they settle for standing in opposite corners and hissing at each other. Then Sulu… *squints* …records Crackers’ hisses with his bionic ears and plays them back so they can communicate? …Yeah, okay, why not. The outline ends after this sudden development; I’m guessing they talk things out and start to catch feels, before settling in to sleep. Anyway here’s the few sentences I actually wrote out:

Harold opened the door, Sulu got on the floor, and in walked the curious dinosaur.

[…] As predator and prey faced off, a little boy and his mother happened to be walking down Vine Street. “Mommy,” said the little boy, “I can hear a bionic hamster and a pterodactyl fighting in that treehouse!”

“Oh, please,” his mother scoffed. “How do you even know what that would sound like?”

The boy considered pointing out the CHOMPs, SQUEAKs, and SQUAAAWKs emanating from the tree in big blocky letters, but decided it wasn’t quite worth the trouble.

The doc ends with a reminder to not refer to Crackers with any pronouns until the two pets can understand each other. Also I was gonna title this after a Tony Orlando and Dawn song as foreshadowing, but I couldn’t choose one, so instead I went with this Spongebob song lol.

WIP #4: Untitled Tommy One-shot

The school’s been near bully-free ever since Treehouse Comix Inc. was formed. Tommy reflects on this from the safety of his locker. [Movie!Verse with a hint of Book 9. CW: discussion of bullying.]

A Kid I Never Named knocks on Tommy’s locker and offers to trade Pilkeymon. They have to be sneaky, because it’s the 90′s and they have to slip a Link Cable through the locker vents without being spotted.

As they trade, the other kid asks Tommy why he hides all the time. He explains that it’s a habit from when Kipper Krupp terrorized the halls. But Kipper left four years ago, and the legend of Wedgie Magee has kept other bullies at bay ever since; the other kid points this out and asks why he still hides. This led into “a somber discussion on adverse school experiences and the long-lasting coping mechanisms they cause” (exact words from the doc). Unfortunately 2017!me never wrote any dialogue, and I’m mad at her for that.

Trivia drop! I used the Pilkeymon joke a few times at @treehouseblogsinc, but it’s way older than that, and also not mine: Pilkey.com used to have a coloring game named Pilkeymon’s Paintbox. It even had art of Dav’s old spiky-haired avatar with Pikachu ears! There’s no trace of it on the Internet anymore, but I swear I’m not making this up.

I left a note here to add that Tommy has glow-in-the-dark stickers in his locker, which ended up in this headcanon dump. There’s also a list of last names I came up with for him but never chose between: Chambers, Lakatos (which I shared once here), and Lockenspiel. Right now I’m leaning towards the last one, it rolls nicely off the tongue.

18+ Only and have a Rules Page I don’t RP with anyone under the age of 18 years, and selectively with those under 21. I’m ‘mature age’ to say the least, and I am just not comfortable interacting with minors. If I can’t find a statement that you’re at least 18+ on your blog, I won’t follow.

I don’t RP with muses who don’t have their rules somewhere. If there’s something where we just won’t be compatible, I’d like to know before we start.

New rule, 15/3/2023: No more child muses. Unless we’ve already been writing together before March 2023, I won’t be interacting with muses who are young children (ie, under 13 years old). Background NPCs are OK, but not children who are the main muse. Any threads with older teens will be strictly platonic.

Shipping / Smutting.

I’m not here to ‘smut-and-go’. If you RP purely for smut more power to you, but that’s just not my jam. Smut can and does happen here, but we need to have at least some connection between the muses before it will. And on that note …

Shipping needs to be talked about first. Thera is multiship, male-attracted, and we enjoy shipping. But it’s still not going to be an automatic-everybody thing. If I know the mun well and/or we’ve shipped with other muses, it’s probably already a yes. Otherwise there’s got to be some sort of IC build up and OOC talk as well, to see how we and the muses get along.

No means no. On both sides. If I say no to something I expect you to listen. Conversely, if you say no I’m going to take that as final, so if you change your mind later you need to tell me.

Interaction Please communicate, please reciprocate. As it says at the top this is a hobby, but it’s a hobby we should both enjoy and it’s not enjoyable when something’s all one-sided. Busy happens, favourites happen, but if I’m doing all the sending and messaging and you don’t do any, especially if you’re active with others, then no hard feelings but I’m going to move along.  

Reblogging Threads and Personal blogs Please don’t reblog or insert your muse in threads if you’re not already in them.

I don’t RP with personal (non-RP) blogs. I always check to see if a personal-blog follower has RP sideblogs.

Reblogging Memes Please don’t reblog memes or starter lists from me without sending me one. You don't have to send me something, but if you don’t please reblog them from the source instead.

Post length I’m good with any, as long as we’re on the same page. But if I’m doing paras and getting one line back, it makes me wonder if you really want to be doing it at all. If you’re stuck, I’m totally open to waiting, plotting or re-writing.

Starter Calls (mine) Starters take me time, effort and ideas, but a lot of them go unanswered. So, I have a 3-strike rule. If I write you starters you request three times and you don’t reply or let me know there’s a problem, I won’t write any more for you.

Triggers and Tags NSFW or strong violence will be tagged (smut is tagged ‘BadThings’ and 'NaughtyList'), potential triggers as '[thing] tw'. If you need anything specific tagged, let me know (if you have a tag already blacklisted, tell me and I’ll use it).

Likewise, if there’s something you’re not comfortable RPing (or thought you were but then realise you’re not) please say so - I only ask that you do the same for me if needed.

I will not play/write: Infidelity/cheating plots, animal abuse, non-con, dub-con (including A/B/O) or sexual assault. ‘Unrequited crush’ threads need to be talked about first. I’m also very shy of ‘fight’ threads where it’s Thera against someone else’s muse. Her vs random NPCs is fine, but I realise your muse is your baby as much as she is mine, and I’m reluctant to have either of them beat up the other!

Addition: Manipulative/Abusive characters. In short, sorry but no. They can be fascinating characters to watch and explore, but I’ve had to deal with abusive relationships OOC both on and offline, and I do not want to be dealing with them in my RP as well. Villains are on a case by case basis, but muses who are by their canon nature or intended to be played as irredeemably abusive are not. RP is my pretendy-fun-time and that is not fun for me.

God-Modding and Meta-gaming

God-Modding. I write my muse, you write yours, and if in doubt, ask. Please don’t decide for me what she does, thinks or feels (or did before the events of the thread), that your muse has done something major to her, or put her in a certain situation, without running it past me first. Also, ignoring what I’ve just written and continuing as if Thera never said or did something counts as god-modding, too.

Verses are separate unless it's been discussed OOC beforehand. Please don't shoehorn Thera into your own existing group verse without talking about it with me first.

Meta-gaming is giving your muse OOC knowledge IC. There are muses out there powerful enough that they could know things, but please talk to me about it first. Your muse suddenly knowing all about Thera for no IC reason and without asking me is not going to work out.

On those last two points, I also reserve the right to say no.

Anons, Drama, Vague/Guilt-Posting

Anons. Anon hate gets blocked. Next!

Drama. Anyone who flies straight into hate, callouts and encouraging others to harass someone is going to get blocked. I don’t care what your position is, I’ve got no time for that behaviour.

Vague posting/Guilt tripping. If you do this regularly, aimed at me or anyone else, you’ll be unfollowed and I likely won’t interact with you again. We all lapse sometimes, but if you’re always making nasty comments every time a partner does something you don’t like, this is going to apply.

Trying to pressure or guilt me into RPing with you is going to have the opposite effect to what you want. Asking if I saw a post or reminding me once or twice is fine, talking to me directly about a problem, likewise. Messages specifically intended to make me feel bad for not replying/RPing with you are not.

Hello, everyone. It’s emilia. How is everyone doing? This is probably unexpected, I’m kind of surprised at myself as well. Yes, this is a new blog. This has been something that I have been giving a lot of thought towards. I guess I am back, in a way. Under the read more is a lengthy and unclear mess but hopefully it’ll give some answers.

I originally left tumblr a year ago due to my mental health. And in a lot of ways, leaving helped me so much. Of course, there were other factors as to why my mental health was depleting, but tumblr was becoming toxic for me. And I don’t mean anything specifically was toxic, just tumblr in general. I had used it as a way to cope for so long. Finally, my brain had enough and was like, “bitch, it’s time to actually work on yourself.”

So I did. Or, at least, I tried. I have spent this past year working on myself, tackling every obstacle I faced, and experienced a lot of personal growth. I’m not 100% better. In fact, I feel like I only got 25% better. However, tumblr was never far from my mind. And it wasn’t like I was thinking about it 24/7, but what I thought about the most were all of you. People I had befriended over the course of almost ten years. I wanted to reach out to so many of you, but I felt so distant and disconnected. I felt like I no longer had the right to do so. That I no longer had the right to call you my friends. That I was just a bothersome person to everyone. Honestly, I still feel that way. 

But, after much thought, I decided to try and come back. I created a new blog as a fresh start. So, what exactly does that mean? Well, I’m not going to be back full time. In fact, I don’t think you could consider me back in the oc community. But I do miss oc content, I miss interacting with everyone, I miss seeing everyone’s creations, but I also didn’t want to throw myself back in fully if I wasn’t truly ready to do so. Therefore, I have created boundaries for myself. For now, I will not be following any oc creator’s blog. This is no way any hate towards any of you. It is not because I don’t want to follow you all, I do. It’s just, for now, this is the best decision for me. In place of that, I ask all of you who’s tag lists I was on back on my old blog (emiliachrstine), please add this new blog to your tag lists. Also, to any oc creators who comes across this post, and you don’t know who I am, feel free to add me to your tag lists as well! I don’t have a following on this new blog, but I am more than willing to be one more supporter for your creations. This is my way to control what I see on my dash. Due to this, I don’t expect any of you to follow me. I will follow all of you again. I don’t know when that will star to happen. I just need time. Please. That’s all I ask.

I hope that I don’t upset anyone with this decision. Again, I am not doing this to hurt anyone. This is the best way for me to slowly merge myself back into this familiar territory. My mental health is still very much on a seesaw and I still struggle with it a lot, but I’m confident enough with myself that if I set up these boundaries it should create a safe environment for me to use to ease myself back into the swing of things. There may be some who think this is stupid, or that I’m being stupid. I can’t control that. But I ask that everyone respect my decision, please. If you do have any issues with this, I encourage you to reach out to me and we can talk about it. However, I won’t be changing my mind on this decision. 

Also, I would like to say real quick. If we start talking again and I seem a little off or different, it’s not your fault. Like I said, I feel so incredibly distant from so many of you. It feels like I’m a stranger to you all. Like I’m an inconvenience. I’m even more awkward than I was before I left. But I promise that I am still the same Emilia, at least I hope I am. 

This was long and probably doesn’t make any sense. I’m sorry. If any of you need clarification, just let me know. I really hope this works out and I can’t wait to see everyone’s creations again.

About Me Being a Jackass

So. As some of you saw, the other day I fucked up. I am not going to apologize for the fact that something offended me or for my opinion, but I am sorry for how I addressed it. Regardless of how much or little offense what someone else said made me feel, I am the bigger asshole at the end of the day, because I perpetuated a message that screenshotting people’s tags to shit on them behind their back is okay.

@ original person involved: I haven't deleted my posts, because the nature of Tumblr is that other copies of what happened remain on various blogs regardless, and I didn’t want you to feel like I was trying to hide what was said at least until I had made this post establishing that I am the asshole. However, I will go back and hide everything from being visible to randoms opening the notes to minimize the potential of you receiving grief from anyone, and if you would like me to, I will also DM this post to those who reblogged the original incident and ask them to delete their copies of it from their blogs. I can’t promise compliance, but I figure if I ask nicely as the OP, I might have decent luck.

Back to the general audience: I have a few lessons for myself here, and I hope you read them and consider learning from my mistakes too (if you aren't already too smart to be like my dumbass).

Never respond to something that annoyed, offended, irritated, or grossed you out at 3AM. This is, universally, a bad idea. This is something I actually know already, from my many years on the internet, so there isn't an excuse. I have had, "Oh thank god" moments before when waking up to look at things I decided the night before, to not put out into the world and to sit on instead to see how I felt about them the next morning. Rarely have I ever woken up no longer feeling negatively about what someone else said, but I at least wake up with a clearer head on the appropriate response to it. So don't do it. Just shut the fuck up and go to bed. You will save yourself from a lot of stupid decisions.

Never assume that using tags to comment on something means it won't get screenshotted and re-tagged with more note-passing-in-class-style commentary. The person who tagged my post didn't expect anyone to respond. They likely expected at most for their friends to maybe like it and maybe a reblog with '#prev'. I responded to the tags they didn't expect me to comment on while also tagging my addition for something and expecting it to stay on my blog and for nobody to reblog the tags I had added, which was fucking dumb considering the thing I literally just did is make somebody else's tags show hole.

Never assume that reposting something to a sideblog where you don't have very many followers is sufficiently private. It is still an online space. It is not private. If you MUST be upset and vent IMMEDIATELY because you CANNOT help yourself, send it in a DM to your friend instead.

Never assume that leaving off someone's username from their tags when you screenshot them is sufficient to protect that person's identity. Especially not when you are stupid and screenshot their tags on the very post where they tagged what they tagged. There is no excuse for me, because just the other day, I saw someone else post a screenshot of tags on one of their posts (in a separate post, to disagree with them) and almost reblogged it, but then realized that would spread it further around the circle and would feel like bullying to me because it was all being said behind their back. Then my dumbass went and did something that fostered an even more potentially harmful environment for another person... by doing the same thing on the actual post. To my knowledge, I don't believe anyone retaliated directly against the person in question through their mailbox or DMs (and if anyone did, I will lob a spear into your computer over wifi), but I created a potential that was very real for that to happen, and the actual outcome, where people were just shitting on them in my notes, was already bad enough. Just don't screenshot tags you don't like to talk about them, actually. Go to bed. Later on, maybe write your own post in your own words about the idea you saw that you didn't like (not the person who said the idea—the idea. The person is just a person). You'll have a clearer head then anyway and you'll be a lot more eloquent and level-headed.

If the joke you are telling by being snarky about someone's tags you screenshotted is "Haha now we are all mischaracterizing each other", don't go back 5 minutes later and tag what they said for biphobia. If you keep looking at what they said and find it offends you more and more because that's genuinely what you see in it regardless of what was intended, just delete your reblog. It isn’t like you’re having a fun time like you were 5 minutes ago. You are promoting something that makes you feel bad and you have figured out at least one reason why. Also, it will turn into accusations of someone being an evil irredeemable villain when other people pass it around to shit on the person for what they said and what you said about what they said and add more transgressions they committed to the list (see Part 2). If you believe something is intentionally and maliciously offensive (that wasn't the case here FYI) you still shouldn't put it on the dash imo because you'll be giving it a platform. You should block the person if you believe they're actually a bigoted asshole.

Remember that this is all media.

When an offended party's friend DMs you, and in the process of trying to defend their friend while extending an olive branch, actually hands you an olive branch full of spiders (i.e., saying more things that make you go 🙈) just don't respond and move on with your life. It isn't worth it. Tangentially: on the initial (before shit hit the fan) subject and everything you two have left me with as responses from the thread of the initial subject... I won't respond any further about our differing analysis, because I can tell you for a fact it won't be productive. Based on what has been said so far, and how each successive argument that has been brought up included more things that I vehemently disagree with in terms of how it frames a person's lived experiences and issues and how they define a person's value... we simply shouldn't continue talking about it. That doesn't mean I think you're bad people, but it does mean the conversation will only come with more bad vibes for all of us and more hurt feelings. Once again: sorry for being a flaming jackass.

Are you named after anyone? No, i’m not named after anyone. But my name was picking by my grandmother.

When was the last time you cried? About a week ago. Tis a common thing in my life.

Do you have kids? Nope.

Do you use sarcasm a lot? Not really. I used to a lot when I was younger, which is why Sarcastic Sims was my first simblr / instagram name.

What sports do you play / have played? Numerous. I played a lot of soccer and have many trophies from swimming. I dabbled a little in boxing too. But swimming is something I am keen to get back into.

What is the first thing you notice about other people? Mannerism. Things they like and don’t like, things they do. Common phrases. Idk a lot of small things, i’m fairly observational, and my autism makes me good at reading people.

Scary movies or happy endings? Both but i lean towards happier things. Scary movies, like done good original ones that aren’t just never ending sequels can be really inspirational.

Any special talents? I am an artist, I have some certificates and I was 🤏 this close into getting my art into the main art gallery of where I live.

What are your hobbies? This is my info dump section. I like a lot of things, but for years I have had a select few special interest. Of course there’s the sims, i’ve had it since a kid and I many hours in those games. Dungeons and Dragons! I am a DM, Dungeon Master, and i run my own homebrew (which means I made it myself), campaign. I won’t talk too much about it otherwise I won’t stop. Art ofc, but I don’t do as much as I would like to. And recently, reading. I’m currently reading Jurassic Park - very different from the film if you were wondering.

Do you have any pets? Yep! two dogs! Technically more if you count my boyfriends pets, but I myself only have two dogs.

How tall are you? I am barely 5”3

Favourite subject in school? I did two art classes and a film class. They would be my favourite, as I got to be creative. But I also like creative writing assignments in english. And I was partially a science nerd.

Dream Job? No idea. I have changed my ideal job many times over the years. I used to want to be an architect, or a museum technician, or an archeologist, or a teacher. As of right now I have no idea.

Eye colour? Dark Brown. A little boring to some, since it’s all just the same colour of brown, but I like them.

Whumptober Sneak Peek!

I've been planning this project for several months now, and I've been outlining a plot to go along with whumptober prompts since they were released. I'm so so excited to be writing in a completely different genre (sci-fi/cyberpunk) and even if I don't manage to post every day in October, I'm hopeful that I'll be able to get everything out there eventually! (fingers crossed). I've put a prologue/preview under the cut, and if you're interested in seeing more and want to be on a tag list when October comes around, just let me know! I can't wait! :)

My first three days have been largely uneventful. My initial ‘induction’ consisted of various background checks and security screenings. I have been told that I will not be permitted to access any resources or information above public access until I pass each individual screening. They are consistently paranoid, if nothing else. I am confident they will not overturn anything of note; from what I have seen of their technology, they only have the capability to scratch the surface. Perhaps the screenings will become more extensive when I progress further into their ranks.

As of writing this report, the highest-ranking member of this organization that I have made contact with is a level-3 man known only as ‘Grim’. He seems to be nothing more than a lackey, one of the many level-3s in charge of keeping an eye on new recruits and showing them their place. He is followed around by another man, ‘Sol’, who I have yet to learn the rank of – likely another level-3. Sol seems even less a threat than Grim, as Sol is a mute who cannot speak to anyone not fluent in sign without Grim’s assistance. This is probably why the two are inseparable.

I have yet to be assigned a sector. Once I am, I hope to advance quickly to a level-2. I have glimpsed the ‘Leader’ once, and only briefly. My only information about any of the inner circle comes from chattering I hear among level-1s and 2s. It is largely inane gossip. Everything I hear about the Speaker is contradictory and unsubstantial. I can confirm our original suspicions that it will take a long time for me to complete our objective. Nevertheless, I am confident that we will reach the end goal in time.

The new recruit goes by ‘Cent’ – no last name provided. So far, he seems like a decent guy. Friendly enough, though a bit wary of everyone around him. I don’t like the way he was treating Sol - I don’t expect anyone reading this report to think I’m not overreacting, but I’ll say it anyway. He’s dismissive and rude and downright pretentious whenever he’s around Sol. Acts like Sol doesn’t even exist. But hey, maybe that’ll change. Don’t ever say I didn’t give anyone the benefit of the doubt. Cent does seem like a genuine person, so there’s that. He just has some issues to work through.

I’d recommend him for the tech sector; I saw how he acted during his screenings, and he seems highly experienced. Possibly a bit too experienced; I would advise high surveillance and additional screenings before moving him to a level-2. Don’t let him work tech alone.

The new recruit, ‘Cent’, is a self-absorbed prick who can’t be bothered to see past the end of his own nose. His name certainly fits him because he isn’t worth jack shit. I have some questions for whoever let him past the front gates, because they clearly weren’t paying attention. If it were up to me, I would lock him as a level-one at most, and that’s being generous. I don’t know if he’s an infiltrator of if he’s just fucking annoying but frankly, I don’t care. Don’t let him anywhere near the tech sector unless you want to get hacked or have your funds drained or be hit with a virus, or all of the above. He definitely knows his way around tech, and I do not mean that as a compliment.

Grim is reading this over my shoulder and says I’m being too harsh. Yes, Grim, I am aware that I’ve only spent three days around the man, and that was more than enough, thank you. If you insist on keeping Cent around, at the very least don’t let him past level-2. Just keep him away from me.
