Your fingers, combed through Jason's black locks while he focused his attention on you. The two of you had moments on these where you sat together in a comfortable silence. They tended to happen when one of you was upset, usually you but tonight you could tell something was wrong with Jason. So you kept quiet and let him rest. You didn't know if late nights like these would last forever.
"How long are you going to play with my hair princess?"
"Until you tell me what's wrong Jay"
Again you both fell into a silence. This time it was awkward like maybe you should've played dumb but it was too late night to think that. Jason sighed and sat up on your couch and laid his head on your lap. You tried to remove your hand from his hair but he gave this look like this is what he needed at least for tonight.
You weren't sure if or when you and Jason had crossed the friend boundary. The two of you obviously had not slept together but you had kissed numerous times. Sometimes when he was anxious you'd kiss him just to calm him down and it worked, except for the fact you'd end up making out. Or when he would go on patrol and you were worried he would kiss you and then he'd end up cuddling you till you slept off. The kisses you both shared were like little reassurances of love. Though the two of you never actually spoke about what they really meant.
You had wanted to for the longest time but you didn't because in the end you always knew that Jason cared for you. You could tell by the way he always left you breakfast when he had to leave while you were asleep or by the way he'd walk you home if you had decided to work overtime. Jason cared in his own little way and you take what you got especially since he made the best pancakes.
"I fought with Bruce today, he took Dick's side on something and I just got mad…I know they both care, but it doesn't feel like it sometimes y'know? It still feels like they're Batman and Nightwing and I'm still Robin" He stopped himself from speaking further like if he spoke more, he'd say something he'd regret. Jason didn't want to drop all his problems on you because he knew you would listen and he knew you'd comfort him. You did so much for him and was slightly worried he was becoming too much. Jason didn't want to become a burden to you, he enjoyed spending time with you and he didn't wan to fuck that up.
"I've always got your side Jay if that helps and you're not Robin anymore okay and regardless of that, Robin didn't make you…well you" you say, caressing his face. "You're just you Jay and if they've got a problem with you well then they have a problem with me"
"Well, I think I hate myself if I'm being honest" Those words made your hands stop and now you started to really listen. You knew Jason wasn't exactly happy with his life but you didn't think he hated himself. He was so cocky all the time that you couldn't even fathom the idea of him hating himself. "These days getting up in the mornings is so difficult and a good night's rest…I don't remember the last time I had one"
"Well I think we all can relate to that, life kinda sucks for all of us Jay. Everything we do is out of our hands and it seems like no matter how hard we try we're never fully just happy"
"You got that right, the last time I was really happy was…well nevermind, But sometimes I think about killing myself"
"Well I mean we all have, I thought about it a couple of times when work gets hard but-
"No y/n, I mean like really killing myself, like just putting my gun to my head and that's it." He laughs but you still don't manage to find it funny. "I know damn well there will be plenty of people who will probably find it pretty, my brains splattered everywhere and my body lifeless"
"I'd really prefer you'd not do that Jay"
"Okay but in all seriousness-"
"I don't want to hear this Jay"
"I'd want you to plan my funeral, you'd make it beautiful and hopefully not gloomy"
"Jay is this a funny matter, stop joking around"
"I doubt there's an afterlife, seeing that I did die once and I don't remember any floating gates or firey pits"
"Jay please stop it"
"C'mon we both know without you, I'd be better off-"
"No." you said and it came out broken. Jason looked up at you, you weren't playing with his hair anymore, you were crying. He tried to reach up and your tears away but you pushed away his hand. He hadn't meant to upset you, he didn't mean it. Well, he did but he wasn't going to, not when you still cared for him. You were what he was living for. "No, you can't do that Jay"
He again tries to wipe your tears and this time you let him, he sits up and kisses your forehead wishing he had never said anything. You were his world and all he could ever ask for. Without you, who would be there for him after a bad run on patrol? or when his nightmares would start coming back? Deep down Jason Todd is scared of living, he's scared of living without you. "I won't sweetheart, I won't, I promise. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said any of that"
Now he's holding you and rubbing your back, whispering sweet nothings into your ear. The two of you fell back into your comfortable silence, while Jason made himself comfortable again laying his head on your lap. He hates seeing you that way, with that look of fear and worry. He never wanted to cause it. He wanted to say something but all those hours of patrol and working overtime finally caught up to him. He thought he'd just take a nap, he didn't want to burden you with how heavy he was, lying on his lap but he couldn't help you, your lap was so comfy.
For a while, you watched Jason and didn't know why you were. He said he wouldn't hurt himself, he promised. Still, you were scared because of the way he talked about it...it was clear it wasn't the first time. You knew he had fallen asleep, his tell was that his breathing had slowed. You picked that up when he started coming over early in that morning to nap with you. Jason was only ever truly calm when was he asleep with you.
Watching him like this felt natural like you had to do this. You knew he was serious about killing himself and you just couldn't imagine a life with him, without Jason. Gently you caressed his sleeping face, admiring how handsome he was. The things that happened to him, you knew they affected him but you didn't want to think he'd go as far as to…no you couldn't think of it.
You leaned your own body back on the couch and tried to relax. You'd stay all night with him if you had to, you'd make sure he was safe. You weekend a vigilante like him, you couldn't fight and protect him from villains but you could protect him from himself. It probably seems crazy that you want to protect Jason Todd from himself but it's all you know how to do. You're not completely sure if Jason loves you but you know that you love him.
"I will always be with you, I'm yours Jay, I'm with you" you whisper sweetly against his forehead, before planting a soft kiss. You watch him all night and he sleeps quietly and hopefully comfortably with his head resting on your lap. You didn't work the next day and you had stayed up all night before, this wouldn't be difficult for you.
Even if it was, it was for Jason and he was always worth any trouble. You wish you could tell him that but that's a conversation for another time, for now, you just want to make sure he is still alive every morning.
When Jason Todd wakes up the following morning, you're drinking what he thinks is probably coffee and reading a book. His eyes fixate on you and he reaches up to brush his hand against your face, you smile at the soft touch. HE lets out a yawn and finally speaks up, "Whatcha doing up so early, princess?"
"Just admiring you Jay"
"M'sorry for sleeping on you, and I'm even more sorry for making you feel upset last night, you're…you're very important to me y/n, and as long as you'll have me, I'll be here"
"And I'm with you, for as long as you'll have me" you say with a smile as you hand him the rest of your coffee. He drank the rest before gently pressing a kiss to your lips. Another reassure of his love
Jason Todd was yours for a lifetime and you were happy with just that.

no moment of silence
synopsis ; talking and reminiscing with satoru!
Tumblr media
inspired by:
"i always have such a need to merely talk to you. even when i have nothing to talk about, with you i just seem to go right ahead and sort of invent it."
- virgina woolf
notes: au! where no one dies and geto stays, gojo being a silly chatterbox, flashback to when you first met, meet ugly sorta, new girl reference!
wordcount: 1.3k words
Tumblr media
"so!" satoru breaks the silence.
the silence that had lasted for about 15 seconds.
his head lays in your lap and one of your hands is tangled in his soft white locks.
it had honestly made you a bit furious when you first moved in with him and realized all he used was some basic shampoo and his hair was apparently just naturally blessed by the gods to always look perfect and feel soft and silky to the touch.
although that's hardly surprising. every part of him seemed to be blessed by some deity.
you gently scratched at his scalp. today had been a long day for both of you.
you two had been sent on a mission that seemed to last for hours, leaving you physically and him mentally exhausted by the end.
on evenings like this, it often dawned on you how unfair all of this truly was.
you two were just now entering your twenties and instead of enjoying your youth, you had to risk your lives in a fight against grotesque-looking curses on the daily.
before you can spiral down this disheartening path any further like you usually did, satoru's voice interrupts your thought process.
"do you think i should grow out my hair like suguru?"
you glance down at him with a bewildered expression. then you paused to think. obviously, he would look good but-
"you really think sugurus gonna let you do that?" you grin.
he crosses his arms, "he doesn't own that hairstyle! anyone can have long hair." a soft chuckle escapes your lips. "you'd look good. but i doubt you are actually planning on doing that. plus i like your hair the way it is now."
being with satoru made everything feel so easy. he was easy to talk to, he made it easy to forget about the cruelty of this world, and he was so so easy to love. just the mere sound of his voice rambling about the latest odd thought he'd had, flushed away all of your worries at a moment's notice.
of course, they'd always catch up, with both of you, but even in those moments when you would both be too choked up to voice your grievances, the gentle touches exchanged between you seemed to put everything into words.
"what if i got a buzzcut, would you still think i look good then?" he continued.
an awkward silence fell over the room.
"wow, is this how vain you are? is the foundation of our relationship just built on my good looks?" he dramatically placed his hand on his forehead and averted his gaze while sighing.
"you didn't even let me answer!" you protest a lighthearted smile etched onto your features.
"your silence is deafening." he glares.
"i would still think you look good. megumi definitely wouldn't though. so i'd advise against it." you brush a few rogue strands of hair from his face.
"pfft! i don't care what that brat thinks!" he huffs
"he made you cry the other day."
"i told you there was something in my eye!"
"yeah, tears."
"i hate both of you" he sits up and slumps his lanky body against you.
a comfortable silence falls over the room.
that's the thing with satoru, silences are always comfortable even though-
"i'm bored."
they never last very long.
"how is that even possible? it's been two seconds." you chuckle, nudging your head closer to him.
"be honest. do you think i would win against sailor moon?"
"no way." you immediately reply, with a quick shake of your head.
"woooowww, you could've at least hesitated." he scoffs and clutches his chest in a dramatic fashion.
"sorry but she'd beat your ass." you shrug, and he starts pouting.
"i'm the strongest!"
"not as strong as sailor moon! you're just jealous you can't have a magical girl transformation."
"i don't need a magical transformation i always look magical and beautiful!" he pokes your cheek.
"i don't know, i think you'd look more magical fighting in a sparkling skirt." you grin down at him.
"ooh naughty" he says in an overly sultry tone while winking at you
"not like that!" you flick his forehead. (well, maybe just a little like that..)
"anyways she'd win, sorry." you change the topic. he lets out an offended gasp and turns his head in your lap so he is not facing you anymore. "you're always so mean to me, i'm never marrying you." he groans. "aw you wanna marry meee" you reply in a singsong tone. "not anymore" he replies.
you chuckle before saying "you remember what you said to me when we first met?" he turns back around his blue eyes lighting up with surprise then annoyance. "yeah of course i remember, shoko and suguru made me put like 3,000 yen in the jar for that one" he groans at the memory. you smile fondly.
jujutsu tech, common area
(2006, 9:34 pm)
it was your first day in tokyo and your first day at jujutsu tech. you had transferred from kyoto to be closer to your relatives who were sorcerers unlike your immediate family in kyoto. "it'll be good for you to be surrounded by family who have the same abilities as you! they can teach you more about the day to day life as a sorcerer." your mother had said. you didn't want to leave kyoto or your parents but she was right. and often times you were quite honestly frightened that just your mere presence might bring curses to your parents' doorstep. you wanted to protect them. so they wouldn't have to be involved in this world at all.
earlier today you met your new classmates. 2 guys one girl. they seemed polite and pleasant save for one overly confident (and flirtatious) white-haired guy. though he was the only one you'd heard about before. obviously. everyone in the jujutsu world knew gojo satoru. his confidence wasn't exactly misplaced you'll give him that much but that didn't make him any less annoying in your eyes.
besides him, the first day at jujutsu tech had went well. shoko and suguru seemed like nice people and you hoped they would consider you their friend soon like you already considered them yours. you could get attached quite quickly.
currently, you were spending time with them (and gojo) in the common room.
you were chatting with shoko about an arcade that was apparently nearby when suddenly gojo pulled out his wallet and slammed one 1000 yen bill on the table while smirking at you.
suguru glared at him "oh god, you're about to say something stupid, aren't you?"
before you could even process what was happening or why he suddenly put money on the table, he grabbed your hand, pulled you closer, and said,
"girl, i'm gonna marry you."
—☆
("three thousand yen? i've never put that much in the douchebag jar!" satoru protested while you sat on the common room couch and giggled.
apparently, that jar of money that you had been curious about before was instituted because satoru kept saying and doing pretty douchey things, and suguru felt he and shoko should be financially compensated.
"dude, you just met her today! that was like the douchiest thing i've ever heard!" shoko argued. suguru nodded. "i was willing to let the pickup line you said earlier slide, but..that? unacceptable."
satoru pouted and dejectedly stuffed 3,000 yen into the already overflowing jar.
at that moment, for whatever reason, you decided that maybe he wasn't so bad, after all.)
you and satoru's shared apartment
(2009, 8:54pm)
"i think weirdly enough that was the first time i kind of started liking you."
he sits up in shock "what? THAT? can we make it a cuter moment please?"
"nope, no can do." you grin brightly. "you know..now that i think about it maybe we should bring that jar back.." "no! im better now. im a changed man."
you laugh, "the kids would get a kick out of it."
for a moment it's quiet and then.
"i wasn't kidding back then." satoru says in a suddenly serious tone.
"i know you weren't." you smile.
– i'll ask her again soon
– this time i'll say yes.
Tumblr media
a/n: i hope you liked this! i kind of wish it was longer, but i also dont wanna add anything just for the sake of it! the new girl reference is one of my favorite moments in the show, actually! and it also seemed like something gojo would do LOL

the blitz, part three
i don't usually post my thoughts on tv shows here; i tend to annoy my clueless friends with insanely long voice messages instead. but this time i thought why not so here we are.
Tumblr media
[forgive me for my poor english in advance]
let's talk about 1941. i strongly believe this year holds a very significant meaning for aziraphale and crowley's relationship. of course, we all know that, it's like saying the earth is round, but i'm curious as to what exactly had changed their relationship during that year.
if there is going to be a third part of the blitz sequence in season 3, somehow i can see aziraphale and crowley getting heavily drunk after the magic show and all the "shades of grey" talk. a continuation of their date night which has been theorised many times already, but i can't stop thinking about the possible outcomes and how it would explain aziraphale's "you go too fast for me, crowley" later on. sure, they could've met in the middle between 1941 and 1967, we don't know that for this time being, but if they haven't, then, no doubt, something truly pivotal happend in 1941. obviously, the bullet catch trick was quite a stressful experience for both crowley and aziraphale. not to mention the fact that they were almost exposed by furfur. it'd be foolish to think they weren't terrified and even traumatized after all that'd happened. so, perhaps, that's why aziraphale's so afraid to hang out (take a step forward in their relationship?) with crowley in 1967? he's being cautious and doesn't want to take another risk? or did something else happen during the blitz that we don't know yet?
so, 1941. here they are, drunk and a bit giddy. pouring more wine, talking gibberish. it has been a crazy day and alcohol is the greatest stress reliever they desperately need at the moment. then, at some point, they start to reminisce the events of the day.
1. church. explosion. the books. "that was very kind of you". heart eyes. realisation of love?
Tumblr media
aziraphale realised he was in love with crowley. that is one of the things that happened in 1941. and it's huge. and it shows! the way aziraphale looks at crowley, trusts him with his life, invites him in for a romantic candlelight dinner afterwards.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so why wouldn't we see the angel in love in the hypothetical part three of the blitz? that'd be logical.
2. the bullet catch trick. miracles blocked. crowley almost shooting aziraphale in the head. possible trauma?
Tumblr media
for crowley (not to exclude aziraphale, of course, i doubt he was anticipating the moment the bullet would go through his head in case of failure), this whole magic show was torturous. it's in the way his hands are shaking when holding a gun. and, though funny, how he rapidly goes through the instructions in the book upon realising their miracles aren't working.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now we know why crowley despises aziraphale's "magician mode". god- satan- who knows what can happen if aziraphale tries to do magic again.
they don't address these things to each other, of course. because that's what they do: they never say what they're really thinking. but alcohol tends to loosen one's tongue. and, perhaps, that is another important thing that happens in 1941.
now, we know aziraphale had done the "i was wrong dance" several times throughout the history, including the year mentioned.
Tumblr media
maybe crowley asked him to do that as a form of an apology after the absolute hell the angel made him go through. and even though, it wasn't aziraphale's fault entirely (nobody could've guessed the furfur's ambush), crowley did almost blew his brains out. and it didn't feel great. moreover, considering that they constantly quarrel, they seem to save the dance for more serious fights, if i may say so.
and after all that happened on the west end stage, crowley deserves a proper apology.
so, he says "do the dance" and is met with drunken protestations, but eventually aziraphale does it. his head spins, his whole body wobbles after several bottles of wine, but he manages to pull off the dance except for the very last move.
Tumblr media
it doesn't look like a very steady position to me. not to mention, aziraphale is drunk and it makes it almost impossible for him to hold balance when standing at all. so when he trembles and trips, ready for his face to be smashed across the floor, crowley catches him and this is where "the big thing" happens (a bit cliché, i know).
now, some people believe they might've kissed before season 2 episode 6. i tend to disagree but i do believe in the almost-kiss. and i think something similar could happen in the blitz part 3 (in case we get it), if we remind ourselves that aziraphale had just realised he was in love with crowley.
even though the demon manages to save his angel (once again) from falling, he is just as drunk as aziraphale.
"you need to ssssober up, angel", crowley might say.
"so do you!" aziraphale might respond.
from what we've seen, crowley is not comfortable yet to take off his sunglasses in the bookshop in 1941. frankly, he never is until season 2.
but when he's drunk, he tosses them to the nearby sofa.
Tumblr media
they exchange a few phrases, aziraphale's still holding onto crowley's arms, they're both barely standing. after a while, the room goes quiet so aziraphale just stares. lovingly. at crowley's eyes. the demon notices.
"wot?" he might ask.
and then...
"your eyes are so pretty" aziraphale might blurt out.
[it sounds very cheesy, i know. if i could write a fanfiction, i would, but my self criticism won't let me.]
vavoom! this is where something shifts. something changes. i imagine aziraphale leaning in for a kiss and crowley's having a mix of confusion and unknown longing on his face. but, obviously, life is no fairy-tale. something interrupts them (i haven't made up my mind on what exactly) and it ruins the moment. and it's very distracting, since they sober up almost immediately. and, to me, aziraphale would suddenly come to realisation that if they get closer, if he acts on his feelings once again, then it'd be taking a huge risk of them being caught collaborating together. so he pushes crowley away. and this is how we come to "you go too fast for me, crowley".
[thank you for reading my midnight thoughts if you got this far!]

Hi GT, I have a confession to make: I read all of the Harry Potter books and didn't like them, to the point that I cannot remember anything from canon. But reading your fic feels like I am getting to experience the magic everyone else felt when they read the OG series, so thank you for that!
I wanted to say that I especially appreciate your treatment of the female characters. Obviously you are getting rid of the weird misogyny and competitiveness of the books in regard to Hermione, Fleur, Molly, etc (I especially love your Molly, and the respect she gets from the other Order members is delightful) but I really appreciate it when it comes to the "reminiscing" parts of the story. It always bothered the hell out of me that Lily seems to have nobody who really remembers her? Like she was clever and pretty and nice and yet all anybody talks about is how cool James is and he has all these bros who would die for him while Lily had ... No friends? Apparently? Anyway sorry this is so long but I really really really appreciated that Molly, Lupin, Sirius, etc. don't just forget about her in your version, and talk her up to Harry as much as they do his dad.
This is a really incredible compliment. Thank you! It makes me incredibly happy to hear you're having that experience. It was one of the foundational moments of my childhood, and to share it with someone else is a magical privilege.
Lily is so dear to me, even though the source gives us rather little about her. I think it's a great shame that Harry in canon grows up mostly around his father's former friends, who happened to survive the war, whereas Lily's friends (we imagine probably the Gryffindor girls, so... Marlene, Dorcas, etc.?) are all dead or missing when the story starts. There's something grotesquely tragic about that, upon reflection: Harry is robbed of knowledge of his mother because of how the war destroyed her living memory. It's such an insidious remark on what death takes away — not just one life, but the memories and love that the life represented.
I was endlessly inspired by that one throwaway remark Lupin makes about being friends with Lily. It's really odd, in the context of Lupin's setup as a Marauder, that when he finally gets a one-on-one with Harry about his parents, his first move isn't to talk about James, but Lily. (Of course, this is on the heels of a comment about Lily's eyes, but like — Harry is said by many people to look like James, and if Lupin was James's friend first, shouldn't that have been the thing that struck him? Wouldn't it be "you so resemble your father, one of my dearest friends on this earth"?) And what was that kindness Lily showed to Remus? Especially since James literally altered his own biochemistry and risked his life in order to support him on full moons? I'm not saying Lily wasn't a true friend to Remus, but like — that's kind of a hard gesture to top, Lils!!
Between that and the goldfish story with Slughorn, Lily gets a phantom characterization as this intensely selfless, giving person. Problem being: that's not a personality, that's a character value. And we don't talk about people we miss that way! We don't go "damn, I'm missing my friend Lily, a noble heart capable of great kindness," we go "oh damn, Lily would have loved that joke," or "those were her favorite kind of pickles," or "I bet she'd have hated that guy." It's the ephemera of knowing someone that we use to feed their memory, and it's that ephemera Harry will never get.

Obession in Love
People kidnap others for ransom, for money, for blackmail, but what if you get kidnapped for love and pleasure?
Tws: kidnapping, non-con, slight bondage, dacryphilia.

You have had your suspicions on a certain individual for a while now,Johan Liebert , a German man, early twenties, seemingly perfect in everyway, you obviously don't buy his act but whenever and whoever you asked, they all had good views of him, "He's such a nice young man", said an old man as you questioned him about the individual, this answer pissed you off as you always get that same reply one way or another. Getting up from the man's chair , you were about to say your goodbye's to the kind old man but, as you walked towards the door, it opened. Speak of the devil, "good after noon ,mr-", his eyes widened at the sight of you before his lips curled into d smile "Good afternoon ,sir y/n", he extended a hand to you, expecting a handshake, you only turned away ,again, heading towards the exit, fortunately, the man lets you through.
"How unlucky!", you screamed in frustation, slamming your fists on the desk, papers sprawled everywhere, pictures of Johan that were all him looking Straight into the camera despite the pictures being taken in secret, it was all oddly creepy. Ring-ring the old telephone rang, yougot up to answer it, an odd feeling accompanying you, "hello?" , "Is this Sir y/n L/n?" you recognized the voice , "Johan?" "I'm flattered you can recall me,sir", you swore if you were infront of him right now, he would be smiling, "how did you get my number "Sir Moriku gave it to me",
shit,an officer you've worked with in the past had given your personal number to the person you've been investigating, Just your luck, "Oh, what do you want?", "please don't get the wrong idea,Sir, I simply want to invile you to dinner as we got off the wrong foot, do you mind?", as you were about to decline ,your stomach rumbled you rationalized that this could be a chance for you to learn more about him "I don't see why not".
You're in the restaurant Johan had invited you to, you tried to look clean as you didn't want to embarrass yourself in such fancy place. "Sir Y/n i hope i didn't make you wait too long Johan finally reached the restaurant, he took a seat infront of you with a smile of a child, "have you been here before?", he sparked up a conversation with you "I've been here once with someone, it you was a long with time ago though...", you reminisced the good memories you had, "with whom?", " a lover, let's move on" ,you tried the good changing the subject as it was getting personal for your comfort, "What would you two gentlemen like for this evening?" , the waiter asked while a notepad sat on his hand as well as a pen.
"What did you invite me here for?", you asked ,still wary of him and to his know intentions you, he only chuckled before answering, "to get to know you, you're very interesting", "interesting?", you'd have never thought he would say that about you but here you are, puzzled by what he had just said , "Pardon?", " You heard me, you're very interesting you're... different", just as you were about to question him again, the waiter braught in the meals,
lucky bastard.
"Now tell me what you meant, how am i 'different'? I'm just a normal and average individual like you'', you pointed out , "we all know that's a lie", you couldn't tell if he was talking about you or him, was he aware of what he says could reveal some sensitive details at this moment without you knowing. You both sat uncomfortable silence him wearing that grin, a creepygrin At the end of the night, you both go your seperate ways.
In the morning, you woke up thinking everything that happened the night before was merely figment of your imagination though, when you got to work, a certain someone awaited your presence, Johan "it's nice to see you again so soon", you tried to keep up a facade but slurred your words a bit as you were still groggy from waking up so early, "You don't look that good ,sir, i'll get you a cup of water, please wait here", he walked away, to the kitchen you presumed to get a cup of water, you wonder who let him walk in so freely.
Not long after, he comes back with a cup of warm water, he hands it to you "thanks" , you mumbled but loud enough for him to hear.
It was a cycle of hate and tolerance throughout the months that followed, at times, you would warm up to him, only to put your guards on a minute later. These couple of days you've had a feeling, a negative one, as if something would jump at you, you were a bit worried at first but after the feeling didn't go away for weeks, you brushed it off, bad mistake.
"what should i cook for dinner...", you wondered to yourself, it had been long time since you ate home cooked meals "chicken soup should be good", you say to yourself as you drive on the road with a hungry and rumbling stomach. As soon as you stepped out of your car, your legs almost gave out, you didn't know what it was but everything just seemed off, that was when you heard it a chuckle behind you, was he always there? you immediatly turned around, clutching your gun, a person, no, monster emerged from the shadows of your car "Johan", your voice trembled, fuck, you knew it, he's the cause of all of this, you wanted to shoot but every muscle in your body froze out of fear , "I'm sorry for this~" he said in more of a teasing tone rather than an apologetic one, then you passed out.
You woke up in a clean room, it was a bedroom, "Ah, you're awake", a pleased Johan turned to look at your half awake face, you immediatly woke up upon seeing him, realizing you were tied up, "ever since i first saw you, sir, knew you would be the one to help me,to be by my side", he announced to you, face full of genuine feelings, you sat there, dumbfounded, not knowing what or how to answer him "You're all mine now", he approached you with the intention holding you, feeling you.
"Ah, don't!", you tried yelling at the much stronger man, you had trained in the force for years yet, young man is able to hold you off, "You got too involved in my business, a shame, i would have loved toying with you some more", he then pushed a finger you, "Ah~" you moaned out, the pleasure getting to you, erasing any bad thoughts from your mind, not only was he perfect on the outside, he could also fuck you with just one finger, "you like that~?", he smirked a bit, you didn't want to give in, so you still tried to get him off of you, "Seems like you need to be more honest", he then inserts another finger, making you moan loudly, "fuck~!", you moaned out of frustration, he was way too good at this, all you can feel is pleasure, he added 2 more fingers, making you scream, oh god he was amazing at this, you were almost at your climax before he released his fingers, making you whine unconsciously, "Aw, aren't you an impatient one".
As your clothes and his clothes were in the floor, scattered, he pinned you to the bed, both your hands held by his as he relentlessly pounded your hole, it was noticeably very tight, "Is my cock too big for you?~", he teased, full knowing that he was enormous, tears started to drop from your eyes, this turned him on even more "cry more for me, darling, you look ravishing like that", your groans and pleads being ignored by him completely as all he focused on was how you were taking him in so well despite how big he was, almost as if you and him were destined from the very beginning, "ah~ this is like heaven", "what kind of monster, would be allowed in heaven-", you were cut of by him roughly thrusting into you, you shouldn't have said that, he was now visibly pissed, "Darling, keep your mouth, shut.", his smile full of sadistic intentions, it was clear he wasn't going to slow down anytime soon.
"P-please...ah", you weakly pleaded, he had been pounding your hole for more than a few rounds now, your hole ached, your stomach looked a bit bloated from Johan's cum, your eyes filled with tears, both your bodies sweating, you wondered how he could still go on after so many rounds, "It's such a surprise you haven't passed out yet", you close your eyes as he says this before you feel a hand grabbing your cheek, when you open your eyes, Johan was looking into your eyes, his hand on your cheek as he goes in for a kiss, the kiss was long and filled with passion before he lets go of your lips, looked into your eyes once again, and says, "I've always wanted you, Y/N".

"The Seven Teens in Wish don't have much to do in the movie other than being a reference". A criticism that I both agree and disagree with. Like any other Wish criticism, this is one of the few that gets rebuffed if you watch the movie again and payed attention. While i do agree with the issue of a movie having way too many characters, of all the teens, Dahlia, Simon and Gabo are the ones who have the most prominent roles and are tied to movie's themes.
Tumblr media
Let's start off with Gabo. While many others dislike him because he's a jerk, there's some merit as to why he's so pessimistic. While I don't like including info from supplementary material like tie-in books, they do have that extra detail that was lacking in the final movie. In A Recipe for Adventure (which will be used a lot in this post), the author speculates that Gabo is a disappointed optimist. Even though we don't have much to work with other from that piece of trivia, when can always think of something to tie him with the film's theme.
Gabo represents the disappointment in a system where few are given benefits over the majority. He always talks about Simon and Sabino's unfulfilling lives because they gave their wishes away and hoping they will be granted, suggesting that he has seen or what it's like to have an unhappy unfulfilling life. He assumes Asha applying for the role of Magnifico's apprentice so that she can have the benefits of having her and her family's wishes; "cheating" her way to get what she wants while the others are left waiting. Him being a "disappointment optimist" suggests that he had high hopes upon moving to Rosas but has seen how long the waited that his hopes are snuffed and has doubts about the system in general.
At the third act of the film, he decides to help Asha and Star free the wishes because Star reignites his hope for a positive future, one where people can live their lives happy and fulfilled.
Tumblr media
Dahlia has the most screen time and lines of the teens, so obviously she has more character than the rest of them.
She's noticeably uses a crutch to walk. While Disney could've easily made her story about wanting to walk without her crutch, they chose not to. In Recipe for Adventure, her wish is to become the best baker in the kingdom, to which she has already achieved. She works as a kitchen staff in the castle, home of Rosas' founder and king.
This shows that she doesn't need magic to become the best baker, all she has is the effort to work for her dreams despite having a disability. This ties with the film's moral as well as a positive lesson for people with disabilities to overcome the struggles and achieve their dreams.
Also in the book, she has a grandmother who passed away and was the one who taught her about her passion for baking. Her and Asha meeting as kids and becoming close friends ties back to my previous post about Asha, mainly about her suffering from loss and that she and Dahlia supported each other going through their darkest moment.
Tumblr media
Like Dahlia, Simon also has more character than the rest.
Simon was once an active person, loves going outdoors and horseback riding. I suggest the idea that since his wish is to become a knight for the kingdom, he had trained for the position.
After he gave away his wish once he became 18, all that passion was taken away as the once lively and active aspiring knight loses that drive and becomes a husk of what he once was.
There's a saying that Simon's sleepiness resulted from his wish taken away is reminiscent of depression, which I agree. Simon's joy and dream was to become a knight and help defend his people. When that joy was taken away and his dream unfulfilled, he feels he has no purpose.
Him ratting Asha out of his selfish desire to have his wish be finally granted may be stemmed from his desperation to get rid of the emptiness he has felt. Like how people with depression use "means" to feel that joy they craved which resulted in paying the price out of their own health; ie his mind being controlled by Magnifico and their friends and family's concerns; betraying his friends.
After Magnifico's defeat and Simon is out of his spell, he apologizes for betraying Asha, with his reasons that he "wanted to believe in Magnifico." This brings out a dark aspect of Magnifico's wish system, he takes away people's joy, making them feel desperate to beg to him that they'll do anything for him to feel that joy again.
Simon's story may be applicable to people who have achieve their dream job out of their selfish desire to achieve it, like leaving their friends and family behind in order to get it. But once said dreams have strings attached, like working for a corrupted system that only hired you until you're "replaceable", you take it all back and feel disappointed for trusting all your hopes and dreams to an unfair system.
While the rest of the teens don't have the same character put in like Dahlia, Simon and Gabo, I feel like giving them their own arcs would have cluttered an already cluttered movie.
Wish has problems, but those problems aren't fixable by adding in things like an alien love interest and an influencer couple. Wish's issues is that the creators didn't put in the extra push it needed, hence why it feels "not enough".

it's late but I need to get this out
IDEAL COMING OUT SCENE FOR MIKE (FOR ME PERSONALLY, IDC IF ITS THE FIRST TIME HE COMES OUT I JUST WOULD LOVE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN) (not the best writing it's just kind of a basic what I want to happen)
Mike's said something wrong again, he and Will had a fight, or he fully realized something and basically broke down. he runs away, in the middle of the literal end of the world, and everyone freaks out about where he is. Nancy goes out to find him (or multiple but she goes out) and goes to the junkyard.
she finds Mike there, either sitting in a old bus or the backseat of a rundown car, he's crying and curled himself up, as much as his limbs can. she's angry at him for running away and she's ready to yell at him but seeing him in this state makes her soften, she quietly sits down beside him and looks straight ahead.
Mike looks at her, but doesn't say anything. "why did you leave?" she asks, he just sniffles and shrugs. "come on Mike, talk to me" he uncurls himself slightly. "there's something wrong with me" Nancy is confused, of course she is. "what do you mean?" "why couldn't I just love her?" he says it more to himself, Nancy starts to understand. this is about eleven. "you're only young, the one for you will come eventually, it's not weird to not be in love at this age" she thinks she's helping, but Mike cries more. "that's the issue, I have met the one, i met them a long time ago,but I can't ever be with them" she looks interested, maybe picking up on the non-gender specific pronoun. "why?" Mike curls himself up more. "because it's wrong"
it finally clicks. Nancy sinks back into the seat, staying quiet for a moment. the only noise is Mike's sobs, but the camera is focused on Nancy as her face scrunches, confusion and slight sadness. her face lightens up just slightly, a smile forming as she starts to speak.
"do you remember the first time you watched superman?" Mike looks up, confused, but his sobs stop slightly. "because I do.. you were obsessed, like so much that we had to buy the DVD because we were spending so much money hiring it" she's laughing, but Mike just looks confused. "could you tell me about this person.. the one that is the one for you?" and Mike does, he says features about Will, and Nancy's gathered by this point who Mike likes, she already kind of figured. "why did you bring up superman?" it was a weird comment afterall, but Nancy laughs and explains.
"you were so obsessed, with superman, didn't care much for when he was Clark Kent.. but then you met Will" Mike freezes a little, but Nancy continues. "and instead of dragging me to watch the movies with you, you dragged him.. and he liked him as Clark Kent, so you did too.. even though you always had a thing for super powers" Mike 100% has a thing for a super powers so I don't think it would be unusual for him to have a crush on superman as he compared El to him lmao.
they keep talking, and Nancy talks more about his obsession with superman, and Clark Kent, but it turns more and more into Will, just without saying the name. like will using Els name to speak about his emotions.
"because.. everyone taught you to like superman, he was the better cooler version, he was who everyone liked.. but you liked Clark Kent, and there's nothing wrong with liking Clark Kent, even if everyone else likes superman" Mike nods, the scene slightly reminiscent of Wills coming out to Jonathan, not actually saying it but implying it, Nancy just doing it a bit more obviously.
I then feel like at the end of it she would say something like, "are you going to talk to Will?" to really show that she understands, and Mike will say yes, and they will hug and they will say how much they love and care for eachother because they are siblings and yeah.
that was long lol. I will forever spread my Mike has a crush on superman propaganda

headcanon of jesse and seiji's relationship
[spoilers of some interactions in redemption and striking distance]
so first of all, Jesse Coste and Seiji Katayama. They were something, according to Seiji, and because I love these two to an unhealthy amount, I will be sharing my headcanon/theory on their relationship, past and present.
disclaimer: this is my take on their relationship and slight copium. Lots of headcanon stuff up ahead y'all.
Let's talk about Jesse Coste first. Man, this guy. I've seen buttloads of posts about how he doesn't reciprocate Seiji's feelings for him, regardless of whether or not he's aware of it. Going off of Jesse's brief monologue in Rise(I assume it was Jesse, the context fits), it was said that he'd finally found 'someone [he] could share everything with', this implies that Jesse had thought of Seiji as an equal, or a friend somewhere in their childhood. They very likely had an intimate relationship with some romance sprinkled in, but obviously there was a lack of communication that likely caused a rift between them.
Lots of people say that Jesse knows how Seiji feels about him and takes advantage of that, but I like to think that Jesse, though he's super popular, is the densest mf when it comes to romance. For example, when he and Seiji have close moments, he'll feel his heart speed up but he doesn't know why he feels funny around Seiji so he puts up a facade. He's secretly insecure when it comes to Seiji because Seiji doesn't see him as 'the number one' as much as other people, and he's afraid that he won't be enough for him. In Striking Distance, he tries to convince Seiji to go to Exton with him because though he feels insecure around Seiji, he's lonely without someone to stand besides him, and he doesn't know how to express that.
Jesse also doesn't know that his feelings aren't unrequited, but since the first time they met, Seiji's been the only one who could satisfy him and meet him at his level, and so he unconsciously puts him on a pedestal in his heart. He thinks Seiji is too good for him in some ways so he makes sure he's the best at fencing, but this turns to be slightly toxic as he then never addresses Seiji as his equal. From Seiji's POV, it obviously seems like Jesse is dismissing him because Jesse thinks Seiji will never be as good as him, but Jesse was raised with the goal of being number one so he's scared that Seiji will overtake him and leave him, and he's scared of being replaced by someone who can be more to Seiji than him.
For Seiji, he doesn't know how Jesse feels, but he admires Jesse a lot. When Jesse is asking Seiji to fence him in Redemption, Seiji looks mortified and scared- scared because he wants to say yes but he wants to know who he is without Jesse. He has/had feelings for Jesse, but he also thinks that it's unrequited and Jesse won't ever reciprocate that and see him as an equal. Obviously we don't know what happened at the match that made Seiji move to France, but miscommunication or the lack of communication on their feelings in general is likely to have caused it. They clearly share some similar sentiments about each other, but neither side is able to open up about it.
Seiji had reminisced that it was easy with Jesse. It was easy because no words were ever needed to express themselves. They knew each other so well to the point that a short match was more than enough to convey their thoughts and feelings, just not love. Seiji isn't good with social interactions, so it helped that they didn't need to talk as much since their fencing did most of the talking. If one side felt upset, they'd have a short match of first to 3 points and the other would know what's wrong by the end of it.
Then the romance came. Neither knew how to express it through fencing, and perhaps Seiji wanted to tell Jesse that "You can't keep pushing me around" and that he has feelings for him, but through a language only the both of them knew. Fencing.
Seiji's parry came late in the match, similar to how he wasn't able to speak about his opinions in time. In Rise, Seiji says that "I must have practiced that parry a thousand times". Like previously mentioned, fencing was their way of communicating and confiding in each other. Seiji practiced that parry so many times because aside from wanting to perfect that technique, he wanted to stand up for himself and also express his love, but it wasn't delivered as well as he would've liked it. He could've left because he was scared that Jesse didn't like him back, and he has doubts constantly.
When Jesse asks for him to go back, a part of Seiji wants to follow him because he wants to believe that Jesse misses him, and he does, but like I said, Jesse Coste may be the fencing champion but he's failing in figuring out his feelings. But Seiji also doesn't want to go with him because he's scared that their relationship has changed, that Jesse won't see him in the same way now because Seji left so suddenly.
TL;DR: they are both dense idiots, i love them, they love each other but no one can talk properly so their relationship is a slightly toxic, two-sided unrequited love thing with a slightly unhealthy dose of miscommunication.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk. *bows

IWBFT meta: The Arks 1st person perspective
I love how Alice plays with 1st person perspective in IWBFT and the extra stories especially when it comes to the Ark.
First to keep in mind is that the week, we as the audience, are introduced to the Ark, they are not doing so well. All of them are stressed over the new contract. Being famous is a nightmare. Listers addiction issues are getting out of hand, Rowan and Bliss are in a rocky place and Jimmy is starting to regret their success. So it obviously colours their current relationships with each other as well. What's also clear from the bands timeline is that by becoming famous together at such a young age, their friendships aren't just friendships, they are also coworkers and the expectations one has towards one's coworkers is very different from one's friends. They are still navigating those dynamics and given that Listers friendship with Rowan and Jimmy was still relatively new in comparison to when they hit it big (about 2-3yrs old, they've been co-workers longer to be honest) this impacts his relationship with them as well since work has taken over the majority of their lives at this point.
In IWBFT we get Jimmy's perspective on his friends and the bands relationships with each other. I think the mistake a reader could make though is to assume that his perspective is the objective lens on how the boys operate with each other because Ghosted very much shifts a lot of what we were lead to assume by giving us Rowan and Listers POVs
Now there are some things at all three boys know and acknowledge in their POVs like that both Rowan and Lister are closer to Jimmy than they are to each other for example.
However Jimmy says that Lister and Rowan argue alot but in Ghosted we het context that both Rowan and Lister are pretty clear that these swipes at each other are largely banter and play fights for the most part.
Both Lister and Rowan may not have deep talks often but their blunt words are actually quite refreshing, in a better context it could even be a healthy dynamic that the two can shoot straight from the hip with each other. And though they don't share many similar hobbies they both love video games and bond over it.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Lister told Rowan about the studio lady before he ever told Jimmy. And although Jimmy has known Rowan most of his life, it's only in Listers POV that we get a hint that Rowan might have some legitimate mental health issues that he hasn't yet come to terms with. This is big because there is a suggestion, that Rowan and Lister minimise their own issues to help Jimmy with his. But this results in Jimmy having a blind spot that the two of them dont have with each other. Also Rowan knew about Listers crush on Jimmy first. Jimmy wouldn't know some of these things cause Jimmy was not a part of these conversations or revelations. Case in point when Rowan reminisces about how during a sleepover when they were kids Jimmy fell asleep first and he and Lister stayed up watching videos and giggling together. Jimmy wouldnt know about these moments cause he isn't part of them. And its clear Rowan and Lister love each other they say it outright in Ghosted. And his own dynamic with them would shield him from some of these things.
Throughout Ghosted the pattern seems to be that Lister and Rowan start bickering, then have some moments of insight but before they can really pursue it, work interrupts. Lister mentions in Ghosted that Cecily cares about them but doesn't really show it and perhaps once she leaves the big label to become their manager exclusively, she may be able to form a more close relationship with them, maybe not, it's up to her but she will be less pressured by the labels to keep them at arms length
One thing I saw a lot was people critiquing Rowan for not taking Listers predicament seriously enough when they were searching for him in the woods. But some things to keep in mind are that he and Lister had a relatively nice night together chatting, that he only saw the beginning of Listers drunken binge and that he was not present for Jimmy and Listers talk where Lister admitted the Jowan photo was his fault and was in a really bad headspace. Also Jimmy does tend to catastrophise, it just so happens in this scenario that he was right. I think for Rowan he was also slightly in denial the same way he is for his own mental issues and the way he brushed off his own assault by a fan that he didn't realise how serious it was until they found Lister in the stream and was in part convincing himself that Lister was okay because he needed to believe that too.
I imagine if there is a sequel, this might haunt him. But I don't think he should be criticized for not taking the search as seriously as Jimmy initially did because he didn't have the same warning signs.
Rowan says in Ghosted that he has to be the responsible one and it's sort of true, he feels pressured by society to embody Black excellence while having to wrangle his wayward friends. And it's cost him alot, he lost Bliss and he was assaulted by a fan. He even finds he's very pleased to be comforted by Lister since its so rare and one imagines hes really needed it. He's at the end of his rope, he snarls at Lister and Jimmy, Jimmy snarls back and Lister just walks away to drink. The embodiment of this is near the end of the book when Rowan and Jimmy get into a screaming match and Lister surprises them both by shouting at them to stop fighting then wanders off to drink. The issue is that while Jimmy and Lister tell the audience and openly demonstrate that they are not doing well. Rowan insists through gritted teeth that he's fine but he is obviously not. I also think that's why Lister seems to cut him some slack, when Rowan yells at Jimmy, Jimmy yells right back and they hit low, cause friendship is beautiful but it's also ugly when you know the other person so well you can hit em where it hurts. But even when Rowan snaps at Lister with admittedly low blows, Lister doesn't retaliate, he laughs or leaves. But I think it's cause Lister can see Rowans 'fucked up too' and in a rare moment of acting his age (he's the eldest of the trio) and emotional insight and intelligence, he allows Rowan to throw a snit without escalating, he let's the kids (Jimmy and Rowan) fight it out, to an extent he still ends their fights if it gets to far both in Meeting Lister and in IWBFT, on the flip side he also may not feel secure enough with them to hit as low as they do and all of these things can be true at once.
What is excellent about these three is that that they feel real. They can be self absorbed, selfless, hurt, strong, mean and sweet by turns to each other and this is so legitimate in friend dynamics.
The Ghosted POV also reveals that Lister did not realise that he was the source of the Jowan photo until the day he confessed it to Jimmy. At first I had wondered how long he knew and kept it to himself but Ghosted shows that he figured it out at Pieros and confessed that very day. Because he never thinks about it in Ghosted and he would have as he confessed to Rowan about the bathroom kiss.
Lister says that he took the photo in a low moment of loneliness and drunkenly sent it to some friends and that one of then leaked it. But he didn't recall that the photo was originally from him until he was scrolling through his old photos.
The sad thing about Lister is that one of the reasons he drinks, other than to not have to think about his past trauma (sexual assault, bullying, poverty) is to numb the guilt he feels over some of his irresponsible actions (the suitcase photo) and that same drunkenness leads to more irresponsible actions (ex: taking the jowan photo and forgetting about it leading him to joke about stalkers that cranks up Jimmy's anxiety and makes him feel unsafe in his own home) which leads to Lister drinking more in a vicious cycle, leading him to jeopardize his friendship with Jimmy and Rowan as he fails to hold their trust.
What's huge for all of their growth is at the end where they decide to put themselves first over their jobs. It's big for Rowan who was made to undermine his own and his friends traumas in order to get the job done
Going from: " I'm sure being seen as a sex object is quite irritating, but we all have shit to deal with in this game" (the use of the term game has so many layers to unpack) and telling a stylist to cover his brick wound with makeup "You can put makeup on it; it doesn't hurt that much" (like honey no let it heal, take time off oh my god). To "‘No more of this … being pressured to do things. Being manipulated and forced to act in a certain way. We need to stand up for what we want. What we all want. The new contract can literally go and fuck itself.’ ‘Yeah,’ murmurs Rowan" like this is what they need. Keep in mind both Lister and Rowan saw Jimmy unraveling and still went on with work, Jimmy and Rowan both knew for a while that Lister has a drinking problem and still went on with work. Rowan even says in Ghosted that he and Jimmy need to talk to Lister about his alcohol issues before he ends up in the hospital but it'll have to wait until they sort out Jimmy, the irony. Throwing work away to look after themselves is what they all NEED and sadly it came from hitting rock bottom (for Lister literally).
If there is a sequel I look forward to seeing how their relationship will evolve now that they can refocus on their friendship without work getting in their way.

Also. This is your sign to introduce an OC. Here and now
hi ardate :] this is a bit late but, since i did it, i might as well introduce her now in this post
for my april fool's day joke, i did a little trick on the find everything discord server where i made a handful of screenshots showing a new (fake) character:
Tumblr media
this is Myla Warper, a Whatsit Woods NPC
i don't have much on her at the moment, and i suspect a lot about her lore will become obsolete when 0.3 comes around, but essentially, she's an engineer and the inventor of the Warp, the in-game fast travel system. she spends a lot of time at home, but is getting out a little more, using the Warp and a range of mobility aids
she managed to trick a few folks (which, looking at how the first find everything hoax, wouldn't've been a hard thing to pull off) but, shortly after - though, in retrospect, it could've been left revealed until the end of the day, i revealed the prank with:
Tumblr media
anyway, i'll put the fake screenshots under the cut and maybe post Myla concepts in a reblog :] + notes. there'll be notes. i've got notes
Tumblr media
i don't remember when exactly i conceptualised Myla, but it might've been between when 0.2 was released and when the developers streamed their 0.2 launch stream a few days later. this is because i had this thought of Myla living in that old abandoned house, working away at her tech (in the early stages, Myla's outfit in my mind would be a the classic tanktop and half-worn jumpsuit where the top half was tied around her waist, you know the look), but obviously had to be just a fun scrapped idea when it was discussed on the stream that Old Man Majig lives there
still, Myla being hidden away in this corner of Whatsit Woods is reminiscent of that idea i guess. it is also just a very good spot for something you could've missed, especially since the community had been combing through save files looking for the second fun value, but it does sort of make her following dialogue a little strange as she's not near any Warp pads
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this bit is meant to, like, mirror dialogue from "tutorial NPCs" who casually introduce new concepts to the player. having worked hard on drawing Illie last year for Halloween, i had her a lot in mind, with Illie also being a tutorial NPC. looked over her 5 lines of dialogue a lot to try and get the vibe down right (of course, she wasn't the only one, but she was the main one) .. i can wrap my head around the Find Everything art style, but writing stuff that matches the FE vibe got me stumped so i hope it didnt stand out all that much
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
originally, those first two lines where different and. stiffer for a long while ("I actually make a few Warp Drives myself!"/"Er… Let's not be humble, maybe more than a few. Maybe all of 'em."), but i think it worked out in the end. the very first bit of dialogue was also changed ("Hey there, blockling! Just on a walk.") to just be combined with the next line but i just really wanted to preserve that "blockling" here. i know it's just the species name of like. the Roblox character, but it also reads as a little endearing term to me
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ahh, the reason why i sort of thought up Myla in the first place. see, a big contention in the find everything community is Whatsit Woods being the only major area in the game without a Warp Drive, despite there already being Warp pads by its entrances in two neighbouring areas. the lack of a Whatsit Woods Warp is very likely to be changed with the 0.3 map rework, but i always thought this (and the Construction Zone Warp.. ) discourse was stupid. Myla going "No. Why? I live here." is like. cathartic to me.(??)
but regardless, she and Watcher Macallit are kind of ocs born from asking "why is this the way it is?" why is there no Whatsit Warp Drive? what makes a Thing a Thing? just ocs to play with and sort of expand worldbuilding, and i love doing this

X-Men: The Next Mutation (Revised)
I'm sure some of you reading know by now, almost a year ago, as one of my earliest posts on this site, I shared an idea I had for an new cartoon based around the X-Men titled "X-Men: The Next Mutation"
And people really seemed to like it.
But looking back at it, while I don't think its bad by any means, I do feel like I could've gone into more detail on a few things.
So in honor of the recent release of the long-anticipated X-Men '97, I've decided to revised the concept and make it a little more fleshed-out.
So without further ado, let's get started!
A lot of my previous points from my original post still stand, but just to recap....
This series would essentially be a spiritual successor to Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Just like that series, it feature will an all-new take on the X-Men. Though they wouldn’t nearly as drastically changed. Along with that, the series will make the X-Men more powerful than most of their other iterations through Secondary and Tertiary mutations.
In the comics, from what I’ve read, additional Mutations are rather rare, only happening to few mutants.
Essentially this series will be expanding on the concept of Secondary Mutations, as in this universe, they’re far more common among mutants, with about 90% of the population often experiencing them during early adulthood.
Tertiary Mutations, however, are a lot rarer, with only some mutants experiencing them in their lives.
Though on this case on Mutations, they would be categorized and labeled in a similar fashion to the Quirks from My Hero Academia.
The animation for this series would be done by Flying Bark Studios, the same studio that not only did the animation for Rise, but also other shows like Glitch Techs and Monkie Kid.
And I mean….you seriously wouldn’t want a Marvel cartoon with animation like this?!
youtube
I can already feel the whiplash people would have after seeing something like this (and X-Men '97) after having spent a decade with Marvel cartoons with stiff and cheap animation.
As for the art-style, in contrast to the more realistic (and obviously MCU adjacent) style that Marvel’s previous cartoons had used during most of the 2010s, X-Men will have a far more stylized and exaggerated.
Originally, I choose ArtFrenzyBoris as the one do the art-style for this show.
But after thinking about it, I feel like fellow Deviantart artist Garth2The2ndPower would be a perfect choice as well.
Her art-style just screams that it would translate well to animation.
The best way I could describe her style is like a perfect fusion between Japanese anime and Western cartoons.
Its look is quite reminiscent of anime, but you can clearly tell hat it was made in the West.
Plus, it looks like it came straight out of an action cartoon from the mid-to-late 2000s/early 2010s.
Another awesome thing about her style is just how incredibly expressive it. I love when animated characters are allowed to actually feel, well, animated.
It just makes them feel more alive in my opinion.
And given the animation studio Garth would be working it, that’s a must.
Anyway, here’s just some of the art she's done….
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similar to Rise of the TMNT, the series will sport a more comedic, light-hearted tone than its previous iterations and be more episodic with some story arcs sprinkled about. I know some people are gonna have a problem with the first detail thanks to one particular show that I’m not gonna mention making people think that anything remotely comedic involving long-existing superheroes is automatically bad. But similar to Rise, despite being more light-hearted and comedy focused, it won’t shy away from dramatic or emotional moments. As for the latter, that won’t be problem since the 90s show and X-Men Evolution did the same thing as well.
Also, might be a bit controversial, but the way mutants are viewed in this universe is a bit more neutral than most iterations. While some of humanity still hates and fears them, others are actually fine and even like them. I’ve always liked it when the X-Men actually had human supporters (or at least humans who actually appreciate what they do), which most adaptations almost never really explore.
The series will also feature various romantic relationships. Some iconic, some rare, some that were set up but never explored, some popular with the fans, and even some that have never really been considered. Also, there will be no relationship drama (or at least drama that isn’t melodramatic or shit). Yes…that does mean you-know-what will be not featured in the series in any kind of way…..and I think we will all be better off for it.
As for the X-Men themselves, the roster is a little smaller than I initially shared for the first post.
And unlike the first post, I'll actually be diving into their characters apart from their powers.
But before I do that, I do want to bring up this cool detail.
The X-Men in this series (at first), will be wearing team uniforms similar to their teen years.
And this is what they'll look like.....
Tumblr media
Done by TheScarletMercenary, I've always felt these outfits were a perfect modernization of the classic X-Men outfits from the 60s.
Also, there will be some variations on these outfits for some of the X-Men.
Anyway, let's go ahead and actually talk about the team themselves, starting off with the leader himself and the first X-Men, Scott Summers, codename: Cyclops.
This Scott is quite similar to his Evolution counterpart, being far more confident, outgoing and optimistic than most of his other iterations. But he does still have that great sense of discipline and responsibility (which could be the result of his father being an Air Force veteran), that made him the perfect person to be the leader of the team.
Scott himself hails from Anchorage, Alaska, is 18-years old, stands at 6’0 and weighs 187 lbs, has fair skin, a slim (almost gangly-like) but fairly lean build, shaggy brown hair in a curtains style and his eyes are usually covered by either his trademark yellow visor with red lenses or his pair of ruby-quartz sunglasses.
As for his backstory, it's largely the same as in the comics, with only two notable differences.
His younger brother Alex (who I'll touch more on a little later), wasn't separated from him and they actually got to grow up together.
His childhood wasn't tampered/monitored by "you-know-who".
As for what he's capable of....
Scott's Primary Mutation is Optic Blast, which grants him the ability to shoot powerful beams of ruby-colored concussive force from his eyes. However (like in every other iteration), he can’t exactly control them due to a childhood injury. So he has to always wear either his visor or sunglasses in order to keep them at bay. But he does have enough control over them to control the trajectory, size and even density of his beams. From being wide enough to demolish a wall, to light enough to bounce off surfaces. He’s also a surprisingly skilled tactician for someone his age, possesses an uncanny sense of spatial awareness and is trained in hand-to-hand combat.
His Secondary Mutation is Energy Channel, which grants him the ability to harness the energy of his optic beams throughout his body. As you would expect, this grants him new abilities. These including being capable of augmenting his speed and strength to superhuman levels, granting himself the power of flight, and shooting his concussive beams from other parts of his body beside his eyes like his hands and feets.
As for his voice actor, Scott will be voiced once again by his recurring VA, the ironically named Scott Porter.
Next we come to the second member of the X-Men, Jean Grey, codename: Psyche.
Jean is what would expect from any version of the character: spunky, outgoing and caring, she’s sort of like the big sister of the team.
Jean herself hails from Trenton, New Jersey, is 18-years old, stands at 5'5 and weighs 130 lbs, has fair skin, an hourglass figure with a bottom heavy build, red hair in a bob-cut, green eyes and red lips.
As for her backstory, it's largely the same as in the comics and other iterations of the character.
Jean's Mutation is Psionic, which grants her various telepathic and telekinetic abilities. Apart from the obvious reading the thoughts of others and moving things with her mind, she can also project psionic energy (which is colored pink) in the form of concussive blasts, use said energy to also create various constructs and use telekinesis to grant herself the power of flight.
The reason I didn't put down her Primary (which was Telepath) and Secondary Mutations (which was Telekine) is because Psionic is essentially a combination of the two.
Yep! Jean is one of the only two members of the X-Men at the start of the series that already has their Secondary Mutation, since just like in the comics, she was an early bloomer.
As for her voice actor, Jean will be voiced once again by her recurring VA, Jennifer Hale.
Now we come to the third member of the X-Men Henry McCoy, codename: The Beast.
This Henry (along with the 90s animated Henry) is a true return to the Beast we know and love.
He's intelligent, well-mannered, and one of the most mature and level-headed members of the X-Men, due to him being one of the oldest members. But he still has the wit, playfulness and wisecracking nature of a teenager.
Henry hails from San Diego, California, is 19-years old, stands at 6'2 and weighs 302 lbs, has fair skin, a broad and muscular build with a posture and figure akin to that of an ape, abnormally large hands and feet, long blue hair that was tied up in a ponytail and blue eyes.
We also have the first X-Men with some difference to their uniform!
Henry's wouldn't wear any gloves or boots and his uniform wouldn't have any sleeves.
As for his backstory: Henry’s Mutation awakened the earliest out of all the X-Men, with him having it since the day he was born. This unfortunately led Henry to have a rather sheltered childhood. But during his teen years, he would start sneaking out and secretly playing as a star quarterback for the football team of the local high school. But once he joined the X-Men, he finally got the chance to experience life outside his home without having to do it in secret.
Henry's Primary Mutation is Primate Atavism, which granted him the pinnacle of human intelligence along with a body akin to that of an ape, with the physicality to go with it. His physical capabilities seem to be an amalgamation of various primates. He has the strength of a gorilla, the speed of a monkey, the dexterity of a chimpanzee, the agility of a gibbon and the flexibility of a orangutan.
His Secondary Mutation is Genetic Atavism, which allows him to switch between different animalistic forms whose capabilities are an amalgamation of the animal family they represent. These forms include a feline form, a canine form, a bovine form, a bear-like form, a boar-like form, a pachyderm-like form, and a rhino-like form. But his primary form and the look he'll be rocking for the entire series once his Secondary Mutation awaken would be a sasquatch-like form.
This form would grant Henry a muscular, sasquatch-like build, blue skin, blue fur all over his body, large clawed hands, large feet, sharp teeth, pointy ears, long messy blue hair and blue eyes.
It would also increase his height from 6'2 to 7'2 and his weight from 302 to 402 lbs.
The form would also keep the abilities of Henry's Primary Mutation, but enhanced to far greater levels.
As for his voice actor, Henry would be voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, who I've always felt would be perfect for a younger version of the character.
No offense to his recurring VA Fred Tatasciore, but I don't think he has quite the range to pull off an convincing voice for young man.
Next we come the fourth member of the X-Men and the second-in-command Ororo Munroe, codename: Storm.
This version is a mismatch between her typical portrayals and her Ultimate iteration. Being one of the oldest members of the team, Ororo is quite mature and surprisingly wise for her age. She also has a street-smart and witty side to her as well. And for someone who spent most of her life on the streets, Ororo has this odd sense of regalness and composure. These traits have made her essentially the second-in-command of the X-Men.
Ororo hails from Cairo, Egypt (but was originally born in Kenya), is 19-years old, stands at 5'11 and weighs 145 lbs, has dark skin, an hourglass figure, white shoulder-length hair in the form of braids, blue eyes, gold lips, a black headband and gold lightning bolt earrings.
As for her backstory, it's largely the same as in the comics, except she never got worshipped as a goddess among a tribal community.
Ororo's Primary Mutation is Meteorological, which grants her the ability to manipulate all forms of weather. From thunderstorms and tornadoes, to blizzards and tsunamis. She can also generate and manipulate electricity, manipulate wind, water and ice/snow, alter the temperature of an entire environment at will and her own body temperature depending on her current environment, use wind currents to fly, has an uncanny sense that allows her to predict weather patterns, and thanks to her time as a thief, is skilled in picking locks and physical combat.
Her Secondary Mutation is Element Phase, which grants her the ability to transform her entire body into either an electrical, wind, water or icy form. This not only makes her nearly invulnerable to damage (as most physical attacks would just phase right through her), but also enhance her physicality in some ways. Her electrical and wind forms would grant her superhuman speed, agility and reflexes, her water form would grant her elasticity, and her ice form would grant her superhuman strength and resilience. She can also create physical constructs out of the elements, even with her own body, the Secondary Mutation grants her much greater control over the weather than before, and she can even turn into an elemental giant by absorbing the elements (like the air and water) around her.
As for her voice actor, she would be voiced by previous recurring VA, Danielle Nicolet.
Now we come to the fifth member of the X-Men Wren Worthington, codename: The Angel.
You may have already noticed that I referred to Angel as Wren Worthington instead of his full name, Warren Worthington III.
Well that's because in this series, Angel is a female rather than a male.
The reason why I choose to do this is because seen a lot of recent fan reimaginings of the X-Men having Angel either being a female or non-binary, and I thought that would an interesting change to do for the character.
Personality-wise: she’s spirited, carefree and often has her head in the clouds (both figuratively and literally).
Wren hails from New York City, is 18-years old, stands at 5'11 and weighs 145 lbs, has fair skin, an hourglass figure with a muscular build, long blonde hair, blue eyes, sky blue lips, black bird earrings and a pair of big white wings on her back.
As for her backstory: Wren was born into a life of wealth and privilege. However, everything change when her Mutation awakened, which brought her into conflict with her father Warwick, the CEO of Worthington Industries and a hater of mutants. He desperately tried to keep the fact that his daughter was a mutant under wraps. This led to Wren having something of a sheltered life during her adolescence. Thankfully, the X-Men came along and Wren was finally able to be free.
Wren's Primary Mutation is Avian Flight, which granted her bird-like wings that allows her to fly. Her body is also naturally adapted for aerial transversal, can fly at superhuman speeds and possesses enhanced lung capacity and eyesight.
Her Secondary Mutation is Healing Light, which grants the ability to manipulate a special kind of light with healing properties. She can also use the light in an offensive manner and thanks to its properties, Wren also has an accelerated healing factor similar to another member of the X-Men.
As for her voice actor, she would be voiced by Grey Griffin, who I felt would be perfect for a female version of Angel....or any character voiced by LOB.
Next we come to the sixth member of the X-Men Kurt Wagner, codename: Nightcrawler.
He's what you would expect from any version of Kurt: kind-hearted, well-mannered, caring, and a devoted Catholic.
Kurt hails from Germany, is 17-years old, stands at 5'7 and weighs 164 lbs, has blue fur-like skin covering his entire body, a slender build, shaggy dark blue hair, full yellow eyes with no visible pupils, pointy elf-like ears, slightly fanged teeth, three fingered/toed hands and feet and a long pointy demon-like tail.
As for his backstory: Kurt always had it rough. Ever since he was born, he was cursed with the appearance of a demon. He was able to make the most of it by becoming the star of a traveling circus, which made people believe his appearance was just part of the act. However, when the public discovered that wasn’t the case….they didn't really take it well to put it lightly. Luckily, the X-Men came in time to save Kurt him from a slow and painful demise.
Kurt's Mutation is Shadow Move, which grants him the ability to teleport anywhere in a limited radius through a cloud of black brimstone. Thanks to his peculiar physiology, he’s also naturally agile and flexible, can become nearly invisible in shadows, has night vision and is a skilled swordsman.
Yep, Kurt is gonna be showing off his swashbuckling skills here! Three-Sword Style BABY!
As for his voice actor, he'll be voiced again by his recurring VA, the previously mentioned LOB, Liam O'Brien.
Now we come to the seventh member of the X-Men Piotr Rasputin, codename: Colossus.
Piotr is want you would expect from any version of the character: a gentle giant with the heart of the artist.
Piotr hails from Russian, is 17-years old, stands at 6'9 (7'4 in steel form) and weighs 260 lbs (495 lbs in steel form), has fair skin, a broad and muscular build, black hair in a flat-top almost buzz-cut like style and blue eyes (full grey when in steel form).
Also, just like Henry, he doesn't have any sleeves on his uniform.
As for his backstory: Piotr used to live a simple life as a farm boy. But after his Mutation was exposed, he and his family found themselves in great danger. But thanks to the X-Men, the Rasputins found a new home here at the Westchester District, where they could remain safe.
Piotr’s Mutation is Organic Steel, which grants him the ability to convert his flesh and skin tissue into a steel-like substance. This steel form grants Piotr incredible strength and resilience, and when matched with his use of hand-to-hand combat, makes him the team’s resident powerhouse.
As for his voice actor, he'll be voiced by his recurring voice actor, Chris Cox.
Next we come to the eighth member of the X-Men Bobby Drake, codename: Iceman.
Bobby is what would expect from any version of the character: playful, fun-loving and a bit of a prankster and show-off.
Bobby hails from Boston, Massachusetts, is 16-years old, stands at 5'4 and weighs 135 lbs, has light skin, a slim build, shaggy brown hair and light blue eyes.
He also has short sleeves and pant-legs on his uniform, wears no gloves or boots and rocks a black durag with a red X-Men symbol at the center (similar to his Ultimate counterpart).
As for his backstory: Bobby lived a fairly normal life with his family. But when his Mutation awakened, fearing that his family would be put in danger because of it, he ran away from home in order to keep them safe. But he eventually found a new home here at the Westchester District.
Bobby’s Mutation is Moisture Freeze, which grants him the ability to convert the moisture around him into ice and snow. Apart from the obvious freezing objects and creating ice and snow, Bobby also possesses a high resistance to low temperatures (so much so that he can coat himself in a flexible armor of ice) and can create various constructs out of ice. These include the likes of shards, shields, pillars, melee weapons and slides (the latter of which he uses to travel quickly across long distances).
As for his voice actor, he would be voiced by Jason Marsden. I've always felt Jason Marsden would make a great Iceman, and he did a good job as the character in X-Men: Destiny. And chances are, he could've become a recurring voice of the character if Marvel hadn't enter their "the X-Men don't matter anymore" phase because they were huffy about the move rights.
Now we come to the ninth (and the last member of the X-Men with a Secondary Mutation) James Howlett, or Logan as he prefers to be called, codename: The Wolverine.
Personality-wise, he's pretty similar to his iterations from Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men.
Where still keeps his gruff and tough nature, but he's far more responsible, level-headed and laid-back when compared to most of his other iterations.
Logan hails from Canada, stands at 5'2 and weighs 295 lbs, fair skin, a stocky and muscular build, black hair in his trademark devil horn style, a five-o'-clock shadow and blue eyes.
As for his outfit, it's practically the iconic yellow and blue suit. Mask and all!
Backstory-wise: Most of his past is completely shrouded in mystery to the characters and even himself. But they do know that he’s by far the oldest (in spite of his appearance) and most experienced member of the team, having fought in some of the biggest wars of the 20th century. Not too long ago, Logan was once their enemy, constantly trying to take us out. But after finding out that he was being forced to do so in order to save his family, the X-Men decided to help him and out of gratitude, he joined them team.
Logan's Mutation is Healing Beast, Model: Mustelidae. Similar to Jean, it's the combination of Primary and Secondary Mutation. Initially, this granted Logan an accelerated healing factor, which allows him to heal from injuries much faster than the average human, superhuman physicality, enhanced animalistic senses and a pair of razor bone claws that he can eject from his knuckles. But thanks to Weapon X, government genetic research facility project, Logan was made even stronger than before. His healing factor has made so powerful that he’s able to quickly heal from even the most fatal of injuries, his physicality and senses have enhanced to even greater levels and even his claws are now coated in the near-indestructible metal known as Adamantium. A few years later, his Secondary Mutation finally awakened, which granted him the ability to transform into a man/were-wolverine, which enhanced his physicality and animalistic senses to even greater levels. And even more so with the berserker rage the form gave him. Unfortunately, Logan barely has any control over his form, which puts everyone around him in mortal danger, so he rarely ever uses it.
As for his voice actor, you already know who I have in mind.....the one.....the only.....STEVE BLUM!
Now we've made to the tenth and final member of the X-Men Kitty Pryde, codename Shadowcat.
Kitty is what you would expect from any version of the character: an intelligent social butterfly whose also a massive lovable nerd with a passion for computers.
Kitty hails from Chicago, Illinois, is 14-years old, stands at 5'0 and weights 95 lbs, has slightly tanned skin, a slim and slightly petite build, long curly brown hair tied up in a ponytail, hazel eyes, pink lips and multicolored braces.
As for her backstory: Kitty was a near straight-A student and an expert at computers. However, this often made her the target of bullying, which only got worse after her Mutation got exposed in public. But luckily, she found a new school to attend.
Kitty's Mutation is Phase Shift, which grants the ability to make her entire body intangible, along with anything she touches.
As for her voice actor, she would voiced by Jennie Kwan, who you'll known best as Suki from Avatar: The Last Airbender and Chun Lin from Street Fighter 6.
And accompanying her is none other the little dragon himself, Lockheed!
It's actually to think that this series would mark his first major adaptation in anything.
It's weird how despite being the companion of one of the X-Men's most prominent players, they've never had him appear in anything outside of the comics and video games.
It's sort of like the case of Franklin Richards, where despite being the son of the two of the members of the Fantastic Four and a major character in the cast, he's never made an appearance outside of the comics.
Anyway, Lockheed is what you would expect from any animal companion: Playful, mischievous and loyal to the nth degree.
As you expect: He's a purple dragon with full yellow eyes similar to Kurt, and stands at 2'6 and weighs 20 lbs.
Backstory-wise, it's pretty accurate to how it was in the comics.
Being that Lockheed comes from a race of aliens that resemble dragons known as The Flocks, who've been at war with the ravenous alien race The Broods.
Lockheed end up getting stranded on the Broods' homeworld and was being hunted by the aforementioned Broods.
During that time, he would encounter Kitty, who, along with the rest of the X-Men, were brought to Broodworld by force in order to be experimented on.
And it's history ever since.....
As for his voice actor, he would be voiced by everyone's go-to for providing animalistic vocals, Dee Bradley Baker.
Well that's all I have for now.
This is gonna be a multiple-part series.
For this first part, I did want to cover the recurring characters/allies, the villains and even some potential episodes, but I felt that it would make this post a little too long for most people.
So I decided to just dedicate this first part to just introducing the X-Men of this series.
I hoped you all liked this first part and if there's anything you want to know about this version of the X-Men, let me know!

Warning: This article contains descriptions of death and images of blood.
The first part of the review: ORIGINS The second part of the review: THE PLOT
There are small spoilers that do not reveal the plot of the game, but only separately highlight certain moments in the game.
In my opinion, of all the arts, theater holds on to its academic base the strongest. We see a lot of bad painting, just as much sculpture, listen to even more bad music. But I have never seen a bad performance. Being completely honest, I visited only world classics. But agree: in order for the work to evoke emotions, it must be correctly played by modern actors. Sitting in the front row of Vampyr, I had a strange feeling from the first minutes. This state, as if everything is fine, but you do not feel completely satisfied with what you see. It was clear that the game was trying to be poetic. Jonathan's dramatic speech and the visual scene of his transformation into a vampire are reminiscent of a poem. Laconic but eloquent form, good means of expression and incredible power of the actor's voice. I love lyrics. But at the beginning of the scene I feel awkward. After playing the game, when I was making screenshots for my reviews, I started the game over. The second time, I no longer had this feeling of mild-cringe. I think the biggest reason for that was the visual part - animated cutscenes, to be more precise. Why was such a strange style chosen to tell certain moments of the story? Perhaps the experience of working on the previous project of the Life is Strange developers with a more stylized design showed itself here. It also obviously simplifies the production process and reduces production costs and time. But I didn't like this modernization of the vampire story, because it looks more like raw sketches.
Tumblr media
At one time, I was impressed by the way of storytelling in Yakuza. Periodically, we see shots in which the characters are static, but not completely frozen. We hear them talking, but their mouths don't move. Only text and visual 'graphic' effects. In fact, this is a method borrowed from comics or manga, if we are talking about a Japanese game. Yakuza isn't the only game to use this technique though (Bayonetta seems to have a similar tool). But it looks quite organic in a bunch with realistic graphics, unlike Vampyr. Here, these static frames are replaced by artworks. I am not saying that they are bad. They just stand out from the general atmosphere for me.
Oh, what an atmosphere! The smell of baked blood and dry half-decomposed bodies, the suffocating ash of burnt flesh and the crunch of bare bones. What a strange place to be born again! Thirst. Thirst torments all of us from the first seconds of birth. It is so insatiable that it blinds your eyes. And like a blind kitten, overcoming terror, he goes to its call to take a sip that will bring the desired comfort. But no. His soul will not rest. Pain and anger, guilt and despair of loss - this is what brings with it the long-awaited quenching of thirst. This is the price of being a vampire. And now we have to guide our hero along this path.
Tumblr media
I like the beginning of the story. It resembles a climax taken from Shakespeare. In Jonathan's life journey, the role change was indeed a turning point. In the past - a brilliant doctor who once saved lives with his reinvention of blood transfusion. And now - a cursed creature that has to drink blood to save its own life. The creator of our main character claims that death is not God's punishment, but a gift. If so, why from the first minutes we appear in all the tragic before our new gift? God level drama. But Jonathan does not believe in divine providence, he relies on his own mind and believes in the power of science. Because at the moment when humanity raised its hands in supplicating prayer to God, religion betrayed them, leaving them in the vortex of voracious disease.
The game continues to use the game space as a theater stage in cutscenes. The characters are emotional, their speeches are full of drama and have well-accented intonations, complemented by an accent. The figures are arranged in the frame as if in a well-organized performance, and the angles create the impression that we are really in the first row of the parterre. The same feeling is observed in the usual dialogues with the characters, when the camera is directed from behind Jonathan's back to the interlocutor, as if we are watching the action. This fourth wall is broken by the game itself in the section where you enter directly into the theater. Your fight with the boss and the conversation take place on the theater stage, among the red curtains and the remains of the velvet decoration.
Tumblr media
I think that when starting to write a story, we all at some point have the desire to choose a distant era, filled with the rumble of carriages and the rustle of long hems. For vampire works, England of the 19th and 20th centuries is generally like a forbidden fruit - you really want to touch it. Dark streets, cold brick of Gothic cathedrals and the Thames bathed in moonlight. England is such an obvious place for the development of your good story that at one time the developers of the game Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One transferred Sherlock Holmes, the most English character, from the streets of his native London to a fictional island called Cordona. It was a very good move, I must say.
But Vampyr does not need to resort to such tricks. The entourage of London drowned in chaos suits the story and is its addition, not just a pretty background. By 'pretty' I mean well-executed, atmospheric enough to immerse yourself in the game, and with good, intuitive level design. Because 'beauty' is not the word that can be applied to this nocturnal horror of dirty streets and ragged houses that create a miserable appearance. Quarantine reminders and posters with calls to join the army are hung on the walls and doors, littered with junk. I'm sure Jonathan had wild flashbacks every time I stopped to read them. In short, I like the forlorn look of Greater London with its gloomy silhouettes of houses against the night sky.
Tumblr media
You can even see the silhouette of Tower Bridge
Again, returning to the visual component. I don't know how authentic the developers tried to make them. But like the inserts in the cutscenes, they stand out from the general context, seeming too modern for the beginning of the 20th century. In my article about how games introduced me to art, I mentioned a few words about the paintings in Lady Ashbury's castle. In one of the conversations with Jonathan, not wanting to fully reveal her age, she says that she can be found on the canvases of great masters. In particular, these are Vincent Van Gogh and Jan Vermeer. I don't know whether it was by chance or specifically that the artist logically included the works in-between the works of these artists. For example, we know that Vermeer, the master of the genre scenes, painted only one portrait in his entire life - Girl with a Pearl Earring. Let's not talk about all the theories of creation, because in this context it is not important. The date of creation is important - 1665 - 1667, the late period of artist's creativity. Vermeer's portrait of Elizabeth was painted in 1666, that is, in the same time period. The picture in the game is written in a free manner. The image has the appearance of a sketch and tends more towards DaVinci's sfumato technique, besides, it has a strange and uncomfortable perspective. It is very surprising for a representative of Dutch painting, whose artists have always been famous for canvases written to the smallest detail. At that time, the public simply would not have understood a work in such a technique. This is exactly what happened to Rembrandt, who, due to his new painting style, was left without clients, poor and forgotten at the end of his life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I forgot to take a screenshot of Van Gogh's work. I think the website where I found this picture made a mistake in the date, because the year 1666 is also indicated there. With regard to the painting technique, here we also see only an imitation of the form with a complete disregard for the content.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The same applies to the work in which Lady Ashbury is depicted with her lover Lord J. Blackwood. You won't see this type of portrait on 18th century canvases, where a full-length couple is walking against a blank wall. I don't see the slightest need for Elizabeth to be portrayed by famous artists. In the same article about art in games, I gave an example of games that successfully quote art or individual works. Vampyr's attempt to do this feels misguided. These works do not have any symbolism, do not fit with the plot and are carelessly made. I see only one benefit from them - they emphasize that Lady Ashbury is a typical Mary Sue.
Tumblr media
Elizabeth is perfect from start to finish: a mysterious red-haired vampire who captivates the main character immediately after several meetings. She is so ancient and, moreover, incredibly charming that she's on the canvases of great masters (unexpectedly). She is noble and rich, has a talent for painting, restrains her thirst (because she is not some vampire, but a proud ekon), and is also important to the plot. But if she were a person in another work under different conditions, her role in the plot and influence on it would not change at all. Because her character does not move the plot in any way, and is practically not revealed during it. However, if Lady Ashbury has any virtues that are completely irrelevant to the story, the game will let you know about it. At some point, she simply becomes the central protagonist, around whom everything revolves, like the Sun revolves around the Earth in the heretic's imagination.
Jonathan has no reason to have feelings for her, and their romance has no reason to exist. This relationship between the mentor and the student does not develop in any way, does not undergo significant tests that could bring the characters closer. Her image generally resonates with a bunch of heroines in novels of the 19th century, where the characters are beautiful only for some imaginary purity, care, fragility and masculine determination, 'uncharacteristic of the feminine'. The two-day marathon of Dracula reminded me again why I no longer touch fiction unnecessarily. Endless descriptions of heavy sighs, exhausted faces of ladies, their awe-inspiring looks, gentle voices, easy naivety and wisdom. They do absolutely nothing, but only need male guardianship, in order to eventually reach the hero as the main prize for all his suffering. Take away Lady Ashbury's fangs and her title, and she's no different from Mina Harker.
Tumblr media
I like absolutely every female character more than the charming vampire Lady Ashbury, about whom everyone speaks with such piety that I want to shrink away from all that with a crucifix. While browsing the Internet, I came across a comment that Lady Ashbury has that same vampiric charm that makes you immediately fall in love with a heroine who doesn't put any effort into it. Vampire charm is a concoction of modern pop culture that romanticizes ancient sponger pests. I don't see any sense in this, because instead of a complex personality, we get an absolutely flat image of a beautiful lover who can live forever at the pleasure of its beloved. In Le Fanu and Stoker, this 'charm' is the embodiment of sin, everything carnal, forbidden by religion and modern morality. That is why Carmilla and the transformed Lucy captivate others without making an effort. Because they are the personification of lust, living human passion and desire. Lady Ashbury is just a log against their background.
Nevertheless, I cannot say unequivocally that Lady Ashbery is a spoonful of tar in this beautiful story. At some points, the game finds justification for her virtues, her penchant for charity and painting. But it happens too late. The end of the story, which finally reveals Lady Ashbery, does not impress and does not make (at least personally) sympathize with her and her fate. In the whole situation, her father seems more of a victim than his long-suffering daughter. This remorse, this wringing of hands and dramatic speeches about one's own guilt… All this tired me even when I read Dracula and once again related Ashbery to Harker for me. Although Mina's help in the development of the plot is still incomparably greater than the fluttering of Elizabeth's soul.
Tumblr media
Against the background of the gray figure of Lady Ashbury, the character of Mary is much more interesting and meaningful. The first minutes of the game, so sorrowful and filled with regret, stretch for us for the first couple of chapters, and for Jonathan - for the rest of his existence. She reminded me of my own thoughts when I tried to imagine what it would be like to live forever. When the terrible pain of losing the closest people remains with you until the end of time. When you constantly accumulate past mistakes that can neither be corrected nor forgotten. How memories of the betrayal of a loved one eat away the remnants of common sense, turning you into a monster. Mary's story arc is interesting, it really is imbued with that gothic and mysterious flair found in the works of Le Fanu and Stoker. The tragic nature of her image raises a natural question: is eternal life really better than one-time death? Is it worth going through hell again and again, or is it better to end the torment instantly? I cannot despise her even after what she has done, because we all want inner peace. But in Vampyr you have to pay dearly for this peace.
And while Mary's character is great in that respect, her reveal also makes me a little sad. Everything happens too quickly, too hastily, pulling on some dubious motives. Mary throws her motives in our faces in an instant, and instead of being pleasantly enlightened by the truth after a long investigation, all I can say is 'Oh. Wow… Poor thing'. Unlike the rest of the main characters, you don't get to decide what Jonathan should do with his sister. And maybe it's for the best. As I already noted in the first part of the review, in those cases where you have a choice, you want to do the most 'right' thing without hurting anyone. And often you only do worse, being burned by your own desire to do justice. Mary still deserved mercy, no matter how cruel it was. After all, as Dr. Van Helsing said, "But if the most blessed of all, when this now UnDead be made to rest as true dead, then the soul of the poor lady … shall again be free. Instead of working wickedness by night and growing more debased in the assimilation of it by day, she shall take her place with the other Angels".
Tumblr media
It would be possible to talk a little more about other key characters, talk about side characters, complain about the monotonous design of buildings and premises. But I advise you to try it yourself and form a personal impression of this wonderful game, despite all its flaws. I can also mention the music separately. I know absolutely nothing about music. But an ordinary player does not need it. After all, a well-made work can evoke clear and understandable emotions subconsciously. The compositions perfectly support the general tone of the game, emphasize the right moments and set their own intonations. The deep sound of the cello sings in unison with the gloomy atmosphere and mood of the characters. Modern notes are also heard in the compositions. But unlike drawn inserts, they do not spoil the work, but really modernize the story.
Tumblr media
That concludes the Vampyr review. It was very exhausting and I'm not sure I'll ever do such a detailed review of a game like I'm writing a research paper. And although a lot was left out (for example, the sources of inspiration of the developers), I covered all the aspects that I wanted to. I may still do a review on Vampire The Masquerade, but it won't happen anytime soon.

I have always thought that Klaus probably painted many pictures with Tatia's face. He never got over her, he spent entire nights painting that face over and over again. His obsession with her face only got worse after Katherine escaped from him, but now every time he painted it again it was with a mixture of adoration and hatred in equal measure.
I can well imagine him doing paintings where Katherine is being tortured (often by him). The bastard even painted a huge painting depicting the moment where Katherine finds her family slaughtered.
It wasn't until he heard of Elena's existence that Klaus returned to painting that face with the same adoration with which he painted Tatia. His last work before going to Mystic Falls was a painting where he finally breaks his curse; he paints himself holding his new doppelganger in his arms while drinking her precious blood to death...
Okay, so this is incredible to receive, and that headcanon of yours, well, I kinda want to dive right into it, so here we go.
I agree, Klaus never got over Tatia, she was his first love after all. he must've spent countless hours reminiscing over her, and once he could, he absolutely drew her. He likely also hallucinated her asking him to join in her in death when he was afflicted by the hunters curse. And I'm sure that even after the curse was lifted, he was still enamoured with the idea of her, although I doubt he seriously contemplated ending his life after that.
The Katerina one is also fantastic, but I think Klaus was already torturing her when she was on the run. All his life, Klaus has only truly feared one person - Mikael. And for most of his life, that fear was evoked just by rumours of his presence. Klaus hated that Katherine got away, but the way he killed her family, the staging of it, the cruelty of it, was obviously (imo) an imitation of how Mikael tortures him over the centuries. Klaus wanted to make Katherine suffer so he did it in the way that he knows suffering. (Also, is there any gifset of this parallel? The way Klaus staged Katherine's family and the way Mikael staged Marcel and the others in the opera in NOLA?)
Although, now that you've brought this up, Klaus definitely has some paintings of him just torturing his enemies, made in one of his mood swings. And when he does torture them, he likely adds hints of their blood to it like accents. I bet they're hidden away like those letters he collects from his victims.
And Elena, that painting of her being drained by him, I think it's likely the crown jewel of his collection. (Can I include that in some work? Because I can imagine Elena being horrified and fascinated if she finds it.) The adoration with which he paints her lasts till he learns she's alive and then comes back when he realises how inextricably linked to her he is.
This is seriously such a fascinating message though, I love everything about this! Thank you so much for sending me this, and I hope you don't mind the lengthy discussion that followed! (I love diving into Klaus' psyche - so many layers and so rich.)

Love in the Air ep8 messy review
Hello once again. SkyPrapai have finally arrived, so i am not going waste anyone time with small talk and dive right in...
Okay before I dive in, I will call Prapai, Pai because that's how he wants to be called anyway.
Tumblr media
We start off at the street race, where we saw what happened with Rain but not with Sky, even though we knew what happened but here we have the beginning of Sky & Prapai's story, and boy that was something. The way Prapai smiles when his eyes land on Sky, like sheesh that smile is blinding but it also gets Sky's attention and it's evident that he feels uncomfortable and also a bit curious at the same time. Now of course the security spots Sky and they go after him and that's when Prapai jumps in and tells them he is with him, which is enough to make them back off. The way Prapai leans into Sky and tells him they need to talk and pulls him to a quiet spot. Sky is obviously on his guard about this as his eyes turned big. Pai tells him that because he isn't invited he can't leave so sky of course asks him what he wants. Pai does take this opportunity to let Sky make the offer but it's quite obvious what he wants. It annoys Sky instantly but it's also like he thinks "Of course, that's what he wants" as his entire body sighs and let's not forget the pain in his big eyes.
Tumblr media
The way he gives in, you can tell he is frustrated about it but he still goes through with it. I do have to say this even though he doesn't want it, they do share the hot chemistry, and the energy in this NC scene is top-notch. Sky is definitely the aggressive lover, he knows what he wants and I love that, he just takes it and in the meantime is rocking Pai's world
I was a bit confused why we switched back to Rain and Payu's moment but I get it now. It's to show the parallels between the two couples. Like Rain is being protected by Payu but Sky is suffering because he got caught. I think it's brilliantly done, because when you see sky walk into that lobby you can tell the pain he is in, he is exhausted and his spirit is definitely beaten down, it's hard to watch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way he looks at the window and we switch back to the way Pai wanted more and the look of pure sadness on Sky's face before he turns around to face Pai, it's just so sad.
Tumblr media
Right now Pai is nothing more than a handsome player who took advantage of Sky's position. He might not have any bad intentions but I get that Sky does see him like that. My heart feels heavy for Sky though because before he even entered the streetrace he had to talk encourage himself that the people weren't as bad as his ex, only for him to end up this way. Now I do think that if Sky had asked Pai to let him leave without anything in return Pai would've let him but it turned out this way.
I do love how Pai has fallen for Sky, as I said, I don't think Pai is a bad guy at all the situation was just messed up and it's not like he knows Sky's past. Pai is definitely attracted to Sky's coldness and his curiosity has been awoken by it. He loves it and the way he keeps reminiscing .
Okay I might be in love with Pai's smile. We also get to meet Pai's little brother who of course is just as a player as his big bro... Not surprising at all.We switch back to Sky, who has a mental breakdown, which is understandable. I just hope he quickly realizes he deserves the world.
Tumblr media
I love how they take us through their daily lives to show us that Life does go on, even when something bad happens. I love Sky's friends, especially Sig, this boy is too funny and he is a troublemaker,
Now for Pai, I only want one thing, which is for him to stop whoring around. Sure it's his life but seeing as he is interested with Sky, he should just send the handsome man home and keep it in his pants for some time.
Sig really is calming down by using meditation, jeez this boy. Okay I never said this but I do not like Ple. the way her expression changed when Sky mentioned Rain, I do NOT like it at all. I will push her if she ever looks at Rain like that!!
Not Pai trying to get over Sky by racing. Not that he succeeds because all we see are flashbacks. this man is smitten with Sky. The boy has rocked your world. If only he knows that was not mutual at the moment.
I love the little snipbits of him with Saifha and the way he seems so much older than Pai or even Payu. He is not on the same level. the way he is wondering
"Has Sky watching become popular these days" I snickered about this. Poor Saifha never really gets what's going on unless its right in front of his nose.
I love sky's "Shit I f*cked up" Moment for staying up the entire night reading manga. I love his comfortable smile though while he is reading, he is a cutie. I do have to snicker about the moment he picked up the phone because didn't he point out he doesn't want to pick up if he didn't know the number. If I was Sky I would hang up seeing as Pai wasn't saying anything, like wtf?! Also Pai's voice!!! He could sell me anything but then again if he talked to me like that I probably would hang up thinking that he is some kind of pervert. I love how Sky brings up biology and uses it to turn Pai down. Pai is definitely a bit cheesy. I do think it's fair of Pai to warn Sky that he is pursuing him. He knows deep down who it is but he doesn't want to believe it and I love how he gives him the nickname asshole. I love how Pai loves this and you know what I also love Pai's workout.
We meet P' Joy for the first time and even though she is lovely she needs to stop touching Sky because he is not okay with it. We also know that she is nosy, like extremely.
Bonding night is over and done and as Sky picks up the box, he spots Pai who casually walks up to him. I love how Sky thinks hiding behind a box will help him and the way Pai smirks about this, it's too cute. I need to say this, but Pai looks extremely hot the entire time, like have some mercy!!!!!!!
Rain the cutie can not read the room at all. Also the way Pai just outed him to Sky. Rain will be in trouble for sure....
Tumblr media
I CAN NOT GET WITH PAI'S SELF-CONFIDENCE!! dear goodness but what makes it even better is Sky's face xD Pai offers to bring Sky home, and Sky has to accept this because Rain doesn't know what has happened between them, ugh. I like how Sky does not let Pai touch him. Like dude back off. Can I say that I think Sky is a legend, the way he rejects Pai is just iconic. Pai, on the other hand, only sees this as a challenge; even when Sky insults him, he turns it around into something good for him. I mean how do you make "Cyclops" into..
"I admit I'm a giant with a huge, dark one-eyed monster"
Like WTF?! and then he continues to talk to Pai jr..... again wtf?! also calm down Mr. "Hot wind" it's not time for interviews also THAT SMILE!!!!!!. I love their dynamics a lot. Sky does not realize that Pai gets more intrigued whenever he rejects him.
Tumblr media
Lol yeah NONG Sky, get ready to be pursued to the max. I love Sky's face again, he is like "the hell with you" my heart feels heavy when you see how tensed up he was when he closes the door behind him. you can tell how taken back he is by Pai's confession. It's sad that he can't wrap his head around it though.
The next day Rain is screwed as he sits on his knees with his hands up. Poor Rain only gave his number because of Payu, so technically, it should be Payu sitting like this. If it was me I would forgive Rain on the spot, one look at that cute face and I would already be done for. I love how Sky is not falling for the cute act and just dumps his work on him, it's too funny...
Tumblr media
hmm, I don't like the sunflowers though (they are my favorite flowers but) in BLs I think it's best not to give sunflowers. I love how he saved Pai's number under psycho xD this made me snicker for sure. Not him asking Pai to take them back and then Pai proves he is cheesy as Fudge..
"Do you know why I gave you Sunflowers? Cause sunflowers face the sky. I can't be the sun for you but whenever you see sunflowers remember that this wind's watching over them."
Inserts a melting Sky xD Sky likes the cheesiness and even though he says he will throw them away we all know he won't do that. I love that we see this side of Pai that he is actually really interested, as he is doing things he usually wouldn't do.
Tumblr media
I thought this episode was interesting and I have to praise Peat for his acting, because it was obvious that what happened with Sky was traumatic and even though you didn't read the novel, it's obvious what that traumatic thing was. I really can't wait to see Pai mend Sky's heart.
Till the next episode.

riddle of ages gay update (reading through the queer lens)
Hello, my brain is cooperating so I am reading riddle of ages for the first time since the agust d concert. And I am flipping through a little bit, getting back up to speed, when I reread this paragraph:
"Reynie heard Sticky's familiar footstep in the doorway. Reynie started to turn, but something checked him, and he remained as he was, thumbs hooked in the straps of his backpack, regarding the empty room. After a moment he heard Sticky walking quietly up beside him. He hadn't needed to turn. Sticky knew that Reynie knew he was there. And he knew that if Reynie had wanted to be left alone, he would have done something different. They had been friends a long time. Still, Reynie found that he wished he had turned, had gestured for Sticky to join him." (page 210)
And maybe I'm just projecting being queer and insecure onto these two, or maybe I've read too many Merlin fics with this premise (of friendship that never blooms into something more), but oof. Especially because literally on the page before, when Reynie is reminiscing, Mr. Benedict had said you can lose something before it's lost if you don't reach out and work for it. The more obvious context is obviously the possibility all of their friendships being strained by possibly moving away, especially since they're at the age where they either start moving out (to a dorm or apartment), and instead focusing on the loss instead of how that friendship can grow to be different. Which is beautiful in and of itself, and something that I have experience both ways (that being changed, stronger friendships or ones that collect dust and fade away). BUT. If you think about who feels like they are making the furthest leap, it seems to be Sticky and Reynie. Sticky to direct a chemistry institute, Reynie to a (probably) grad program at a university.
And then if you remember Constance's inner monologue about the older three all having crushes on each other, she notes that they were most afraid to change things in fear that it would ruin their friendship. And this seems to me to be a very Sticky or Reynie line of thought, and it also would make sense in this theory as they seem to be the ones with the most frustration between them for wanting to leave the Benedicts' house. In my perspective, it reads like they may be aware on some level of this romantic tension, but do not want to address if they're just going to move out anyways.
Now where is Kate in all of this? I always viewed her to be more practical, and though sometimes that can be a front for her vulnerability, I headcanon that though she can be reticent on emotions, she would eventually act if she wanted to. So in my headcanon, I think her crush on one or both simply faded or she thought about it and felt they were better as friends.
Regardless of how you feel about this (I just think it's fun! also looking back at this point in my life this interpretation would be very relatable to my dumb gay ass), I love both of their characters so much (I still need to make an analysis post on Reynie!), and I hope they resolve the frustrations in their tried and true friendship. I could also see this as a very qpr type deal, but I just want all my blorbos to be happy.
Anyways, however you picture this friendship, I read many MBS characters as queer simply because they are delightfully, sometimes painfully, not normal. And much of the series is about found family, which is familiar as a queer concept, and learning to love yourself for who you are and others as they are.

Alright, rut Mohg Anon here to elaborate. First of all, I'll apologize for what is surely to become an essay.
Lore reasons! The Omen Bairn states this quote in it "Please, don't hate me, or curse me. Please." So we know that Omen's are shunned away from their families into the sewers or are killed via inhumane horn removal, and between Mohg and Morgott we can see that they still very much wish to be loved. Morgott clings onto the love of his Mother despite not ever actually recieving it, and thus clings to the golden order and the Erdtree (most likely because when he got out of the sewers, it was like a beacon of light. Like someone who'd never gone outside adoring the sun.)
Mohg does the same, although unwittingly. He yearns for love, but rather than seek for it from those who wronged him, Marika and Godfrey, he instead yearns for it from outside sources, hence the Formless Mother, and uh the other thing. So pushing that aside, Mohg is someone who desperately craves love and devotion, as seen from him wishing for his dynasty and Varré's last lines. Though note that Mohg still wants Marika's attention, this is seen in two ways, one by basically doing the exact same thing that she had, conforming to an outer god, and two, you can see a stake of Marika right outside of the main Mausoleum boss area. (Obviously has Mommy issues, so maybe a mommy kink-)
Despite going full throttle against the Greater Will/Golden Order and all that jazz, he still exemplifies that he wants to be loved and I'd believe that his rut would only bring that further. He want's to be worshipped, and while normally, being more reasonable and wanting to uphold his position as Mohg the Lord of Blood, he will demand your affection and obedience in doing so, when he goes into rut it may bring out his baser instincts, his yearning to be loved.
Rather than demand you to do anything, he will beg, he wants you to want him, not for you to do something without any love. He want's your love, your affection, your body. Mohg yearns for someone to love him genuinely, and his rut shows this, as he lusts after your touch, for your hands to drag down his body and touch the most sensitive parts of him and commit him to memory. For your words of affirmation, be it gentle or harsh or teasing or degrading, please just give him all of you, all of the affection you have for him.
He'd beg for you to touch everything that makes him him, from his horns to his wings, make him bleed his omen blood and lavish in it, show him you love every part of him without him ever needing to ask to do any of it. All he would do is simply beg for what you want to do with him, he'd beg for your love.
And that's why I had the thought of Mohg being more submissive (especially in rut). Ask Varré and he'll deny that any such exchange ever happened. Ask Mohg and he will also deny that he ever begged, that is until he falls asleep to a nightmare or his next rut occurs.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
No apologies necessary, anon.
This is beautifully heartwrenching. In moments like this, I could see his lover simply holding him and Mohg, despite the heat of his rut driving him, just falls even deeper into their embrace, holding them tight as if he wanted to be one with them.
The facade drops and you see in Mohg the memory of someone rejected for something outside of his control, see in him the hurt and pain that he disguises with grandiosity and a thirst for power, that at its very core, Mohgwyn is synonymous with recognition and validation.
His lover obliges him and for the first time, Mohg experiences the love and affection once denied to him.
...But of course, he'd deny it. Of course. That doesn't keep him from reminiscing about it until the next rut, however.
