But Kokichi can see what other people can't: he can see the strings pulling up the corners of Rantaro's mouth, the threaded hooks pulling his eyes into the perfect facsimile of genuine friendliness. It's so close to normal, but the sliver of a gap between Rantaro and normal upsets the whole thing, like a single hair ruins a whole bowl of soup.

Kokichi's fascinated. He needs to study this man.

Jamil Viper

↬ When you tell Jamil that you've finally gotten your license, he feels, at the very least, proud. Driving is hard no matter how you look at it, and getting a license is just proof of how much you've practiced earning one. He gives you reminders such as to never drink and drive or to always take a break if you feel like you're too tired to drive.

↬ He's quite confident in you, so when you ask him if he wants to join you for a ride, he thinks of how to leave Kalim in someone's care for a while before saying yes. His family would kill him for this, but Kalim would kill everyone in the car if he were to join.

↬ With Kalim out of the way and you being super enthusiastic about driving, the two of you get in the car with high hopes. You've planned on driving around town to do some errands, but the moment you start your car, it makes a weird noise that drains the color from Jamil's face.

↬ "Hey," he says after a long pause, getting nervous and rechecking his seatbelt. You still have a smile on your face, but it doesn't ease his worries one bit. "That doesn't sound good—"

↬ The car jerks forward before moving again, and he swore he got whiplash and a heart attack from it. Your engine sounds like it's dying, making whirring noises that definitely sounded wrong.

↬ "It's okay!" you say as you step on the gas. The car whirs and buzzes as the speedometer rises (along with Jamil's blood pressure), and then realization dawns on you. "Oh! I forgot to change my gear. Hold on."

↬ As you take one hand off the steering wheel, the car starts moving to the side. Jamil snaps, holding onto his seat for dear life as he watches his life flash in front of him. Maybe this was good since it would free him from his duties, and yet… dying in a car crash seems too terrible, even for him.

↬ "What are you doing!?" he asks when you accidentally turn your headlights on instead of making a signal. A car from behind you honks its horn, but you pay it no mind as you make a turn and activate the signal at the very last moment. It's a wonder you haven't gotten pulled over yet.

↬ "Just relax! See, let's park right there," you say, briefly gesturing to a spot sandwiched between two, very expensive-looking cars. Jamil glances between you and the cars, sighing in disbelief as he unbuckles his seatbelt.

↬ "Get out," he says, already halfway through the door. The last thing he needs is to pay for damages when you inevitably crash into those cars. "I'm going to be the one driving from now on."

Jade Leech

↬ Jade is very supportive from the start, his carefully practiced expression dismissing any of your initial concerns. Little do you know there are pads, a helmet, and a first aid kit in his bag, just in case the two of you needed it even before you arrived at the campsite. He observes you as you start the car, noting how you checked the mirrors and seatbelts first before anything else. Good.

↬ It's a long drive ahead, so he's resigned himself to keeping you alert so you don't fall asleep. After all, you're the only one with a license between the two of them, because driving with his new legs is a little too complicated for Jade yet.

↬ The drive starts out fairly fine. He has never heard that many suspicious noises in the span of a few minutes in his lifetime, but he chalks it up to your relative inexperience. No one starts out perfect at driving, especially with how difficult it is in the first place.

↬ He would've applauded you for even getting to the freeways without crashing into anyone yet if it weren't for your personality change midway. You start spewing out insults, pressing on the gas to overtake some poor grandmother who was in the wrong lane. If he hadn't known you for some time, he would've been… scared.

↬ "Yeah, get your ass off the highway if you can't keep up with the minimum speed limit," you spit as you get back to your original lane. Jade retains the calm facade on his face, but he's already thinking if he should force you into pulling over and calming down soon.

↬ "My dear," he starts out, one hand in his backpack in case he already needs to take the helmet out. "Shouldn't you exercise more patience? You are a new driver yourself, after all."

↬ "Nah," you say, swerving as another slow car blocks your way. Jade is sure you're breaking so, so many laws right now. "Oh hey, that's our exit. Crap, I'm not in the outer lane right now."

↬ After narrowly missing your exit and decreasing Jade's lifespan by at least a few years, the two of you are finally at the base of the mountain you decided on camping at. Jade's legs shake as he gets out of the car, threatening to give up as he attempts to walk over to your side.

↬ With a gentle, yet firm hand on your shoulder, he gives you his signature smile before saying, "Let us take the mirror next time, shall we?"

Hmm, well this is primarily a kink blog and when I’m not horny posting I’m usually chatting with KnicKnock about different ways to (emotionally) torture the boys. Cute? Okay, I’ll try…

I think one of the reasons why Achilles’ and Patroclus’ relationship is so strong is Achilles is very vocal about his needs. If he wants attention, he will go right up to Patroclus, no matter what Patroclus is doing, and say ‘I need/want attention.’ And it’s usually a physical gesture. If Pat is sitting at his desk doing work, Achilles will just sit in his lap. If Pat is reading, he’ll take the book/scroll and throw it. If Pat is watching TV, he will stand in front of him and block his view. Even outside a modern AU, Achilles still does this. Pat finds it endlessly adorable and can never help himself in indulging him.

Achilles loves his Patroclus endlessly. He’s very proud of him, thinks the world of him, and is possessive of him. He loves to say ‘this is my husband’ when introducing him. And he loves sharing photos of him with his friends to brag about him.

Achilles likes, no, needs to have his hair played with. He will often let Pat braid his hair. Always, always, always Pat braids his hair before bed to prevent it from tangling. In the Iliad era, Patroclus always brushed Achilles’ hair before bed.

Achilles is very particular about lipstick. Some lipsticks are meant for leaving prints on necks and around cocks, while other lipsticks are meant to just look good. Achilles always drags poor Pat along when he goes lipstick shopping. All lipsticks must be tested for kissability. Sephora employees find it super cute and will often take pics or videos of them to post to the internet.

In The Iliad era, Achilles will only eat food Patroclus makes. For example, Pat and Ajax could make the exact same thing in the exact same way, and he will only like Pat’s. In a modern AU, he’s just a regular picky eater. Patroclus often spoils him by hand feeding him.

Going out to restaurants is often a struggle. Achilles never seems to end up liking what he ordered and will usually end up stealing food from Pat’s plate. Even if he orders a dish Pat ordered the previous week, Achilles is going for Pat’s food. And yes, Achilles is the girlfriend who will say they don’t want anything at McDonald’s and then eat all your fries.

Pat is not really a tech guy, so it’s Achilles who is customizing his phone. Achilles carefully selects all lockscreens and backgrounds etc. The lockscreen is usually a cute couple pic and the background is usually a pic of Achilles looking sexy. Sometimes Pat gets anxiety opening his phone in public bcs he never knows if there’s gonna be a nudes jump scare.

In Achilles’ phone Pat is ‘Husband💕’.

Patroclus doesn’t really care about fashion. For Achilles, fashion is everything. For date nights, parties, and events their looks must coordinate. Achilles carefully curates their outfits. And it will literally take Achilles hours to get ready. Pat has learned to tolerate it. Oh, and this is the same in all AUs.

Achilles has a 70-step skincare routine. It can take him a good hour to get ready for bed. Pat will lie in their bed reading a book or checking emails on his phone, patiently waiting for him.

Achilles’ unspoken philosophy is ‘spoon or be spooned.’ If Patroclus does not spoon him in bed, he will spoon Patroclus. And if Pat ever ends up on his back, Achilles will sleep draped across his chest with a leg thrown over his legs.

They have a designated date night every week. Sometimes it’s a big night out and sometimes it’s a movie night curled up on the couch at home. This was also true in their Iliad era. Every week they took a few extra hours for themselves. Often they would go to the beach to swim and lie in the sand.

When he can, Achilles likes to pack Pat’s lunch for work. He likes to slip in little love notes (or his panties).

Achilles is usually home first and will greet Pat at the door. Often he jumps on him.

They are very ritualistic about kisses goodbye for work (or whenever the other leaves the house/tent) and before going to sleep.

Achilles absolutely cannot cook. Most food is burnt. And he often mixes up ingredients, salt for sugar, baking powder and baking soda, cinnamon and paprika etc. Pat never says anything as he doesn’t want to hurt his feelings and so has built up a tolerance.

In a modern AU Achilles insists on holding hands everywhere. ‘What if you lose me?’ 🥺

They’re both equally obsessed with matching couples sets of ordinary items. Couple coffee mugs, couple bathrobes, couple underwear, couple bracelets etc.

Patroclus was very much the homemaker in the Iliad era. He hunted animals so they could have rugs. He collected flowers to put in vases. He collected shells to put on shelves for decoration.

hi all! here's a little check-in/update for my writing during the month of march. :) i had a really exciting and inspiring month, actually. all the support i have received has been near and dear to my heart. thank you very much.

Chaptered Fics:

At The Heart Of Time: 16/42 chapters. this fic has been my primary focus so far this year - and will continue to be. i have 11 chapters posted and am currently in the process of writing chapter 16!

Forged In Amber: the renowned amnesia fic finally made it to AO3! 7/28 chapters complete, 3 chapters posted. i am really excited to be able to explore Sigrid and Fili's characters in this fic - both together and apart.

A Semblance of my Soul: 2/8 chapters. this fic is absolutely self-indulgent and serves no real purpose beyond being silly :3 simon/hank and steve/tony are all contestants on the famous realty show, Love Is Blind. i'm hoping to get this fic finished this summer.

(sometimes goodbye is a) second chance: 4/4 chapters. i wrote this fic in 2 days for Quicksilver Week 2024, to explore how pietro deals with the revelation that magneto is his real father and how he goes about being a "hero", too.

dream a little dream of me: 13/13 chapters. i finished this fic early on in march! and i am still so, so proud of it. :)

One-Shots:

In The New Dawn: 2.1k words. inspired by/written for a dear friend, hara, this fic has some of the most beautiful prose i've written so far. :) i am immensely proud of it.

Golden: 4k words. this bagginshield one-shot was written for my lovely friend razz's birthday. :) it was so fun to write and i'm very plesaed with how it's turned out!

why, thank you for asking! i've been thinking it through for the last few days, i just wanted to make sure my answer was all written and ready to go first. all... checks notes... 4,000 words of it.

ICYMI, last week i sent asks to a bunch of my friends with a simple question: "what's your favorite game you played this year?" as i hoped, y'all gave a bunch of EXCELLENT answers, all of which i reblogged on my side blog @autumatically! (if you didn't get an ask like this and you want to join in, ping me – i sent too many asks to keep track of and i probably just forgot to send one your way!)

of course i wanted to answer this myself, but i wanted to write about more than just one game! and when i sat down to write, i just kept going, and going, and going...

so we're splitting this up! every day this week, i'll be counting down my top 5 games that i played in 2023. not all of these are games that i've streamed, and only one of them has shown up on anyone else's lists so far, so i'm really excited to reminisce and share my experiences this year 💖

maybe you'll even find a new game to try out? i'm certainly really excited to dig through y'alls lists and try some of the ones i missed out on this year!

to kick things off, let's start with:

Honorable Mentions

two games came out this year that i would probably put in my top 5, no competition. so why didn't i? because i didn't actually play them!

see, as much as i love to play video games, oftentimes i also like to watch them just as much. this has always been great for games that i never intended to play in the first place, like the Final Fantasies and Fortnites of our day… but lately it's also let me take turns with my partner on who plays which new releases.

in fact, for both of the games i'm about to list, i watched my partner play them in full and i've watched no less than two separate people stream them as well. which means, with all that oversaturation, it's probably gonna be a while before i play them myself…

either way! here's my top two games that i didn't play in 2023.

Pizza Tower

this one likely needs no introduction! Wario Land 4 is one of my favorite games of all time, and the way Pizza Tower extends those basic concepts is a masterclass of game design. the moveset is perfectly geared toward accessible speed tech, the level layouts are top notch, the different forms are unique and funny, the art style is GORGEOUS, the combo system adds incredible replay value and pushes the player to their limits…

honestly the only thing stopping me from playing this right now is that the levels are too fresh in my mind, and i'd like a little time to let those memories fade before i dive back in and experience everything in a wave of nostalgia. seeing so much of the game already was totally worth it, though – i had the distinct pleasure of watching my partner learn how to P Rank most of the levels, and the simple joy of watching her build up her skills is one of my standout memories of 2023. proud of you, love!

god, Pizza Tower is a perfect slice of video game. i can't WAIT to play it myself!

Super Mario RPG

as a young kid, i always wanted a physical copy of this game. i could never justify it, though, because i already owned it on Wii Virtual Console, and it was one of the more expensive SNES games i had my eye on… a whole $40 in 2007 money! fast forward to the modern day, and not only do i no longer have easy access to that old Wii copy, but a physical cart now goes for like $90???

blessedly, along comes the Switch remake. i still can't believe this exists – it's a perfect remake in every way, shape, and form! the sprite-based animations are lovingly recreated, the battle system is rebalanced in fun ways, and the music is PERFECTLY re-arranged. even the dialog, which i expected to be completely retranslated… it's smoothed over, but mostly unchanged! the original game's unabashed weirdness and charm is fully intact, and i did NOT expect that out of modern Nintendo.

this is one that i didn't mind watching others play; Super Mario RPG is all about the vibe, and this remake captures that vibe perfectly. i'm excited to play it myself once it's had time to settle! but, for now, i'm perfectly content just vibing with others~

Some days, the bad days, I sometimes consider giving up writing. It seems like an insurmountable task, where every sentence is a challenge. Writing in my second language only makes it even more complicated. On these days, I struggle to remember why I do it, why telling stories is fun and a gift. Unfortunately, on those days, my brain keeps telling me that I'm not good at it, that I'll never write anything special. On those days, I look at other talented writers and feel the green monster Jealousy come to life. It's hard, lonely and I hate it.

My saving grace is that I know it will pass, that tomorrow is a new day and hopefully I will find the joy and passion again. Because I really love creating and telling stories and I still have so much that I want to tell and share.

Your blog is amazing and I am impressed with the work you do to keep up the motivation and encourage everyone to "keep writing".

I'm one of those shy followers who rarely find the courage to interact because I'm afraid of being rejected (which has happened far too often), but today I found the courage, almost.

Wow, if English is your 2nd language, I have to give you kudos for your ability to write in it first and foremost. Your grammar and your word choices are impeccable. 👏🏽

Secondly, I totally get the green with envy stuff. It can be really hard to see someone who seems more talented than you, but you know what? That person may be writing in their first language. The mere fact that you're writing in a language that isn't your native tongue is SUPER inspiring and incredible and you should seriously commend yourself for it.

Writing is hard. Anyone that says "anyone can write" really doesn't consider the mental and emotional toll that writing can have on a person. Maybe "anyone" is capable of putting words on a page, but writing is so much more than just simply putting words on a page, and it can feel so overwhelming sometimes. The emotional toll can be a real burden and I'm so proud of you for sticking it out and continuing through all of these thoughts and feelings.

on the ninth of june this year, i discovered your blog again through your very first installment of your kabukimono series. i never had the courage to send an ask until recently, and my dumbass realized i never followed your blog.

it's a little surreal to believe that it's been so long, i remember being a wee seventeen year old back in 2022 gushing over every kuni piece you published, then i read your masterlist on my birthday, and was swoon since then. it's a shame that i never had the courage to reblog your works at least, but i suppose it's better late than never ~

i saw your post today morning regarding your kabukimono series and i would like to present mindful:

first of all, your last two chapters i did read and HAH! I WAS FUCKING RIGHT ABOUT WANDERER'S BEING BITTERSWEET — cough. excuse me.

but absolutely yes omg. a lesson in forgiveness had my heart reeling because the sweetness of kuni still remembering both little and big things about his dearest beloved almost made me shed a tear which is natural because they were lovers but fuck me sideways that combined with the bitter reality that reader isn't able to remember neither do they remember the past the two shared. i can just about imagine him, after the encounter he had with reader in the cafe, he wonders if he'll be able to make things right, wonders of he deserves a second chance to love you like he used to and... ugh. i hate him. i hope he gets microwaved. ( lies aya loves him way too much )

the bonus lesson, a lesson in the heart — shut up because getting MARRIED to kabukimono is literally fucking everything. that lesson had me giggling and kicking my feet and smiling from ear to ear like come on?? kabuki is literally the husband of all time and i just wanna lay down in the puddle of tears i metaphorically shed reading that lesson :( the way he was just kissing reader so lovingly and talking about how grateful he is for you, how much his life has changed thanks to your wonderful presence like .. fuck. i need a moment

there is so much more that i could honestly say about the last two installments to your series, your series as a whole is something i will never shut up about. such a hauntingly beautiful piece of work and i adore everything it tackled; from the delightful to the depressing and everything in-between if you hyper analyze it like i do — it's surreal to see it come to an end, but it makes me all the more proud to be one of the people who discovered it early, stuck around to read it because it was that enthralling to me.

you rarely ever find a kabukimono fic or any kuni fic in general that's set in a more fluffy and domestic atmosphere ( until shit goes down hill ) and i think that's what adds to the haunting nature of it, something so beautiful and simple can at times be taken away too soon by the hands of fate.

i am so happy for you, smooches. so happy and so proud to see you come this far, and i cannot wait for not only future installments for the other harbingers, but just in general a lot more to come from you <3

if you do start on that dot series, make sure to take your time and write it at your own pace! you are a busy individual, and i hope you get the much needed break you deserve now that the kabuki series has come to a close.

Yup the sad things happened and there's nothing he can do about the past, but the future is always waiting for him. Especially when you're there with him now. I imagine he's a bit stiff and perhaps even a bit quiet around you which is really strange? I mean he's silent around a lot of people except he always has a few scoffs and mean things to say but around you, he doesn't do much of that. It takes a lot of nudging from Nahida to get him back to normal.

I'm glad you feel the same way about marrying Kabukimono 😭 It's literally the SWEETEST thing ever omg he'd be over the moon every single day even though the wedding is months away. He's like. beyond excited to marry you. I just know he tries to be the perfect fiance for you in every way possible. He has a little notebook with tips from the villagers and Niwa. *gives you a tissue and a hug*

AND YEAHHH i think fluff for Kabukimono is in limited quantity so I'm glad i could add to it!! i think adding fluff before angst is a really good way to build up the sadness. Because you see how lovely and simple life was before things changed and it just hits harder since you now know things will never be the same again... </3 once you know how good things used to be, it's hard to accept the opposite.

Dragon Ball GT fic I will never write

Someone went through my blog today and reblogged a bunch of my old Dragon Ball posts and its got me remembering that I once had an idea to do a long fic series taking place after Dragon Ball GT.

That's right, GT. I didn't like the series, but I did really like parts of it.

Does anyone remember the ending?

Not the 100 years flash forward with Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. that was the "epilogue". I mean the Ending, when Goku got on Shenlong's back and they disappeared and the Dragon Balls disappeared with them.

Goku's wish was to bring everyone who died back to life; and that's exactly what happened: everyone who died as a result of the evil dragons came back to life (plus Kuririn who was killed by Super 17).

BUT THAT'S IT!

The people came back to life, but the cities weren't rebuilt, the land wasn't repaired. All the people who just came back to life didn't have homes to live in, the livestock that died wasn't revived, the farmlands weren't repaired.

How did Goku expect the people he just brought back to life to survive?

Goku doesn't have to think about that because Goku vanished with the dragon.

Its everyone else who has to deal with it.

Bulma, Gohan, 18, Kuririn, Yamcha, Vegeta, Trunks, Goten, Pan, Roshi, etc. (I'm not gonna list everyone). They're the ones who now have to figure out how to house, feed, and provide healthcare for the population Goku just revived.

Also-!

(My favorite scene) Remember Vegeta's very well done trauma scene during the final battle? When he was -literally- crying over watching his second home being destroyed. Earth will still need champions and Goku just went poof.

But Goku never taught anyone the Kaio Ken and Genki Dama, the two moves that consistently save the Earth every time, or the Instant Transmission which is arguably Goku's most useful technique. How is anyone supposed to defend the Earth when they no longer have their champion or the means for a new champion to rise to the occasion?

Anyway, my fic idea:

The first part was going to be a "team building" fic of Vegeta going around collecting all the next gen characters

(he tried really hard to get Gohan but Gohan insists that he could do more to help in his capacity as a scholar/doctor/scientist/whatever Chi-chi made him major in, and rebuilt Earth's infrastructure.)

Marron volunteers but she's fully human and isn't the reincarnation of any kind of powerful djinn like Uub, so Vegeta turns her away (and maybe he calls her useless).

So, Gohan and Bulma was working on rebuilding Earth, Vegeta is being a tyrannical task master trying to train most of the kids, and Marron goes to Master Roshi and convinces him to train her in the Kame Style exactly how he trained Goku. Marron wears the turtle shell, she delivers milk, (I forget what else Roshi had them do in Dragon Ball, but Marron does it).

Bulma and Gohan are making great progress rebuilding society. Marron is advancing quickly in her Kame training and is confident and happy. Meanwhile, all the other kids are miserable under Vegeta's strict drills.

Some character development and plot happens, but basically, they realize that they need a "Kuririn" in their group.

They need a human who may or may not be very useful in the actual battles, but never the less never gives up, has a healthy relationship with fear and understands mortality, and is still willing to sacrifice themself if it means saving others.

Marron, even though she was rejected from being a member of their champion group still continued to train independently from them. She'll never be as powerful as the Saiyans or Uub, but its not about power for her, its about doing what she can. She understands her own mortality and has a healthy relationship with fear, but still wants to help in whatever capacity she can.

Marron is their Kuririn.

Vegeta doesn't fully get this concept even if he recognizes that its necessary. He's also too proud to admit that the team might benefit from having Marron after he rejected her the first time.

Trunks is the one goes to Kame House and invites Marron to join the team.

That was gonna be the end of part 1.

Part 2 was gonna be centered around the techniques that Goku never taught to anyone else even though he had plenty of opportunity to teach them to Gohan in the Room of Spirit and Time in Z, or Trunks and Pan during GT.

Vegeta has Bulma build another space ship and sends the kids on a mission to the same planet Goku crashed on after the destruction of Namek to learn the Instant Transmission technique from the original people who taught it to Goku in the first place.

While they're off planet, Vegeta tries to work with the remaining Z Senshi to try and engineer their own version of the Ginki Dama. They all have experience lending their power to Goku to form it, Vegeta was almost killed by it, and Kuririn has actually held and thrown it before. They all have first hand experience (albeit from different angles) with the technique. Vegeta's hope is to have a workable version of it ready to teach to the kids by the time they get back.

October Update

I'm still away but hopefully if nothing goes wrong the plan is to return to the blog after I'm back from my vacation and hopefully return with a super fun project all done and ready (fingers crossed)

And I have not been forthcoming lol Everyone kind of disappeared all at the same time so I kind of stopped talking about what I'm doing but I have been biding my time, quietly putting mechanisms into motion and plotting and occasionally cackling over my cauldron.

I finished the first draft of Blue like don't forget about me and didn't like it so I cut out all the sci-fi fantasy stuff (bye bye aliens farewell superpowers) and in November wrote a new first draft that's all contemporary romance babeee and I'm so in love with it I'm turning it into a little 3-part (possibly 4 if I can't control myself) series.

The original childhood years have been split off into a prequel novella called Red like my bleeding heart in your hand. Then Blue like don't forget about me will take place 20 years later. Nash works at Cherished Hope Nursing Home

OKAY SO AND THEN the next book will be Jo's POV and is called Violet like these delights. and MAYBE there will be a 4th from Luke's POV bc he gets to live this time by the grace of god (me) but it'll depend on how Violet goes (its current state is mostly vibes and a single overarching theme so, stand by).

Red needs a clean-up round of edits to snip out the few little threads that connected it to OG blue. And rewritten blue is basically done. I've done the major revisions and am about to start line edits and after those are done I'm sending it out to beta readers (lmk if you're interested).

WHICH REMINDS ME

The series title is Wildflowers of Deliverance. Which I'm extremely proud of. Did you notice did you notice how each title incorporates a wildflower did you did you? and the town they grew up in where Nash and Teddy first met is called Deliverance!!! It's okay I know I'm a genius.

Eddie Munson of course. Love of my life. I was thinking reader could be Dustin’s older sister, but maybe a year younger than Eddie, so he doesn’t really know her or see her. She’s a pretty badass nerd and proud of it. Into the same music Eddie is, loves to read and write, into classic movies and most importantly, D&D - not that she would ever tell Dustin that since she knows he would BEG her to play all the time. And so, when Lucas goes to the bball came opposed to Eddie’s campaign, reader overhears Dustin freaking out with Mike and she decides to jump in and help. Eddie teases her at first just like with Erica and she has a badass moment and helps them win. After Eddie asks her out and it’s super cute, fluffy.

"Dustin! Hurry up, or else the y/n mobile is saying bye bye without you!" I yelled up the staircase, huffy because my little brother was taking a million years to get downstairs. This was a daily occurrence and I was honestly fed up with it. He was always either feeding Yurtle or caught up in whatever he was doing for Hellfire club that day. Today, he couldn't find his Hellfire shirt.

"HOLD ON AND STOP BEING SO MEAN TO ME!" I rolled my eyes and tapped my fingers together anxiously, checking my watch. Objects clattered and crashed upstairs and I could imagine my brother throwing things around his room like the drama king he was.

"Patience, honey, patience." My mom tousled my hair as she walked by.

"Moooom, I was going to meet up with my friends for Rebecca's birthday this morning and now I'm not going to be able to give her the present I got her until this weekend because he's being stupid."

Mom stroked Mews and handed me a piece of toast. "Calm down and eat this. DUSTIN!! YOU'RE GIVING YOUR SISTER AN ANEURYSM!"

"I'M COMING! SHIT!"

"LANGUAGE!"

His feet thundered as he ran down the hall and down the stairs. He threw on his hat and his wrinkled Hellfire shirt and I smacked him. "Finally! Get in the car!" I took a huge stress bite out of the piece of toast and kissed mom on the cheek.

"Have a great day at school, kids!"

"Remember mom, I have Hellfire tonight!" Dustin ran to the car, backpack bouncing, and I ran after him.

We jumped into my shitty car, and I kicked it into gear.

"Every morning you make me stress eat because you make us late, dude."

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry y/n, Mews hid my shirt under a pile of shit so I couldn't find it, I promise I'm going to be on time from now on."

I sighed, unable to stay mad at my brother for long. He's only two years younger than me, him being a freshman and me being a junior, but I still see him as my baby brother. I tapped the front of his baseball cap and smiled.

"That better be a promise." Dustin smiled his toothy grin at me.

We pulled into the Hawkins High parking lot. Dustin jumped out of the car while I was still rolling to a stop.

"Dustin! Don't do that!" I yelled out the window and people turned to look.

"Idiot." I grumbled under my breath and I parked the car. I grabbed my backpack and ran inside. I saw my friends and grinned, seeing my best friend of ten years, Rebecca, all dolled up for her birthday.

"Babe!!" Rebecca turned with a smile and I gave her the biggest hug. "Happy birthday!! Here, I made this for you!"

I dug the photo album I put together out of my bag and handed it to her. I had spent hours and hours on that thing, asking her mom and my mom for pictures we had taken together over the years, and put it into this scrapbook and decorated it with stickers and glitter and ribbons.

"Y/n!" Rebecca looked up at me in the middle of flipping through the pages, teary-eyed.

"Don't you dare cry, Rebecca Fedson. If you cry, I'll cry and it is too early for that."

She embraced me in a huge hug and I hugged her back, smiling into her hair. "I love you y/n."

Eddie's POV

"Babe!" I heard a familiar voice rush past me and a blur of y/h/c hair flew by. I turned to see if it was who I thought it was.

Y/n. I watched as she hugged her friends and gave her friend a... birthday present? Yeah. A birthday present. I had admired y/n from a distance for years now, ever since I saw her in the halls as a freshman. Back then, I was a sophomore and her smile was what caught my eye. I once had asked Dustin if she knew her, him being younger and more likely to know, and he had looked me quizzically and told me that was his older sister. After that, I occasionally saw her around the halls, but I never dared to approach her. She was always with a friend or two, and at lunch she was surrounded by friends who adored her and who she adored. She was popular, but not like Jason and those assholes. She was... nice. She had caught your eye a few times when you noticed her, and she smiled at you. Nobody smiled at you. Except for the Hellfire club, of course. But other than them, no one ever smiled at Eddie Munson, the self-proclaimed freak. But she did, and sometimes even raised her fingers in a shy wave. I think she knew who I was through Dustin. She probably also saw my Hellfire shirt, on days that I matched with Dustin, and put two and two together. I tried to be as cool as possible, but just the sight of her made me--confident, doesn't-care-about-anyone Eddie--nervous.

I watched y/n and her friend hug each other tight as her friend clung onto the gift y/n had given her. Y/n was always so thoughtful. So nice. But of course, I didn't dare do anything. Not only because she was inaccessible to Eddie the Freak, but also because she was inaccessible to me as Dustin's sister.

Y/n's POV

The day went by normally. Just class, occasionally seeing my friends if we had class together. I wasn't a star student, but I was good enough and enjoyed school enough. Overall, I was content at Hawkins High.

I met Dustin outside the school at the end fo the day, only to find him sitting dejectedly with Mike.

"What's up, guys?" I asked, shifting my backpack on my shoulder.

"I hate high school." Dustin mumbled.

"Whoa, what's going on? Did something happen?"

Mike sighed. "Eddie isn't letting us move Hellfire tonight for Lucas's game, which means that Lucas won't be at the campaign, and without someone to replace him, we can't play."

"We've been trying to find a replacement all day, but no one wants to play D&D."

The two boys slumped on the wall, pouting. I crossed my arms, thinking. Dustin didn't know it--no one did, but I had been dying to play D&D for a while now. When Dustin got really into it, I got a gameplay book to see what his obsession was all about, and as a nerd myself, who loves fantasy novels and movies, I got pretty sucked into it. I knew all the characters, all the rules. I kept this a secret from Dustin because I knew that if he found out, he would incessantly bother me about playing. I sighed, coming to a conclusion.

"I can be your substitute."

Dustin and Mike's heads shot up, surprised.

"What? You don't even know the rules or what a campaign is, or anything. How would you be the sub?" Dustin asked incredulously.

I ran my fingers through my hair before telling him, "I actually have wanted to play for years now. I know everything there is to know about D&D. I just didn't tell you because you'd be annoying about it."

Dustin's eyes widened as he dramatically grasped Mike's arm.

"No. Fucking. Way." Mike stared at me, open-mouthed.

Dustin slowly got up. "You're telling me," He breathed, "That you've kept this a secret from me? All these years?" He clutched his chest, "My dear sister! Who are you!"

I rolled my eyes and smacked him. "You keep this up, and I'm taking it back."

"Nononono, come on! We can go introduce you to the club right now!" Dustin grabbed my hand and dragged me behind him. I laughed and ran behind him and Mike followed me to Hellfire club.

Eddie's POV

I was finishing setting up today's campaign in the classroom when the door slammed open. My head jerked up to see Dustin and Mike standing in front of me, and.... and Y/N.

"And who is this?" I slowly smiled at y/n as her eyes lit up in recognition.

My breath hitched as she stepped around Dustin and walked towards me. She held out her hand and said, "I don't think we've officially met before. I'm y/n."

I smiled and took her hand in both of mine. "Please to meet you, princess, I'm Eddie."

I swear I saw her color a little as she smiled at me. We stood there like that for a moment until Dustin finally said, "Alright, that's enough, break it up. Eddie, this is y/n, my sister, and she's going to be Lucas's replacement."

Wait. What? I let go of her hand and took a step back. "No way miss y/n, miss popular knows how to play. Nope. Sorry princess, but that's not gonna happen." I crossed my arms.

Y/n raised her brows at me and took a step forward to close the gap that I had made.

"Well I'm offended Eddie, you don't think I'm smart enough to play your little game?" I furrowed my brows and retorted, "No it's not that, it's just that I don't trust people who run with the crowd you run with. Little miss thing can't possibly actually want to play, and we don't play with people who are just here for sympathy, to do charity work for the freaks and losers."

Mike and Dustin stood enraptured, their heads switching back and forth between us to look at us as we spoke.

Y/n rolled her eyes at me and retorted, "Trust me, I don't trust the crowd I run in either. But like you didn't choose who you're friends with, I didn't choose either." I gave her an incredulous look. "Listen, ask me anything you want. I've been studying the playbook for years now. I bet I know more than you."

"Alright, Henderson, you asked for it."

I shot off questions rapid-fire. To my surprise, y/n answered all of them with ease and confidence. She even looked bored. As she answered more and more questions correctly, my eyebrows went higher and higher on my face until I thought they would fall off.

"You done yet, Munson?" Y/n studied her nails and glanced up at me.

I paused for a second. Then I grinned. Holding out a hand, I said, "Welcome to the team, y/n Henderson."

Y/n's POV

"Come on, come ON!!" I bent over the table, watching Dustin rattle the dice in his hands. We were on the last leg of the campaign, and we needed one last thing to beat Eddie's long, complicated campaign.

It was like slow-motion. Dustin released his hands and the dice bounced across the table. The numbers spun around and around until...

"YES!" I pumped my arms up in the air and attacked my brother with a hug. Everyone cheered and high-fived, and I laughed as I watched them lose their shit over Dustin. I glanced over at Eddie and caught his eye. He was standing, arms crossed, smiling tenderly at me. I inhaled sharply and smiled back at him.

I walked over to join him on the other side of the table and smiled at the sight of the Hellfire club celebrating their win. Eddie nudged me with his elbow.

"Not bad, baby girl. You really impressed me today. Never would have chalked you up to be a nerd."

I nudged him back, "Well, don't judge a book by its cover, Munson."

He turned to face me, and I looked up to meet his doe-eyes. He smiled gently down at me and bit his lip. He ran his hand through his hair nervously.

"You know, y/l/n, I've... uh, I've," Eddie stammered and took a deep breath, "I've always been quite taken by you." His words rolled out as if they were one, and he looked down shyly.

My heart pounded as I heard him say that. He didn't know it, but ever since Dustin joined Hellfire and started talking about Eddie, I had watched him from afar. At first, it was to make sure that the guy my brother was hanging out with wasn't doing anything sketchy, but then it quickly became a crush. I mean, who wouldn't, with those eyes, those dimples, that famous long black hair?

It took all the courage in me to reach out and take his hand, which was fidgeting with his many silver rings. Our fingers met, and I heard Eddie give out a small gasp.

"I never would have known, but if I had known, I would have told you..." I tucked my hair behind my ear, "That I am also quite taken by you."

Eddie held my hand tighter. He was still looking down at his shoes, and I couldn't read what was going on in that beautiful head of his.

"Eddie? Say something." I said quietly.

He looked up at me. His eyes sparkled in the dim light. His face slowly broke out into a smile, lighting it up in a way I have never seen anyone's face light up.

"Well, well, well. Who would've thunk?" Eddie laughed breathily and I giggled. He finally took my other hand and we stood facing each other like that for a second.

"Y/n, would you... possibly want to.... go out with me sometime?" I grinned at him, unable to contain my happiness, "I'd treat you real nice." Eddie added and smiled back at me. I threw my arms around his neck and I felt Eddie pause, and then snake his arms around my waist.

"Yes, please." I whispered into his ear, and he held me tighter.

"I'll call you tonight, then. For the details." Eddie whispered back.

I pulled back and beamed at Eddie. Eddie Munson. Eddie Munson and me. That just sounded so right for some reason.

I snapped back to reality as the group of jumping and cheering boys jumped over to us and enveloped us in shouts. Eddie laughed and tousled Dustin's curly hair, and smiled back up at me.

"Alright, alright boys, let's calm down before adults come looking for what's causing this ruckus."

Eddie held my gaze and winked at me, ever so subtly. My heart skipped a beat, not-so-subtly. He mouthed, I'll call you later, princess. And I couldn't imagine what I could want more than that.

HITMAN - May Patch Preview

Known internally as Patch 3.1.5.0, this update will bring more than 80 bug fixes, tweaks and improvements – with a focus on addressing many points of fan frustration for our new rogue-like mode Freelancer. We’ve also implemented a new location for Contracts Mode, with the ICA Facility’s Freeform Training mission now supported for the first time, giving players more options to be creative. Before we release the full patch notes next week, we want to give you a look ahead at what’s coming up, including a new Prestige feature for Freelancer. Let’s start with that.

FREELANCER PRESTIGE

We’re adding a new ‘Prestige’ feature to Freelancer that will give you more reasons to play and earn elusive Safehouse trophies for your collection. The ‘Prestige Laptop’ will be added to the Safehouse and will allow you to increase through five Prestige Levels. You can advance your Prestige Level after you’ve collected all the weapons that can be stored in the Safehouse. At that point, three things will happen:

The base Merces payout and XP gain for completing missions will increase

Adds a Prestige trophy to your Safehouse for each Prestige Level (5 in total)

All items in your inventory, all Freelancer gear, all weapons on the weapon walls and all Merces will be reset to 0, as if you were starting fresh. Your safehouse customisations will not be affected.

Prestige in Freelancer is all about risk/reward. Once you’ve unlocked everything, you can start fresh with a higher base payout and XP bonus, earn the trophies for your Safehouse and show off your Prestige Level.

Okay, this sounds great! It'll be a bit painful to lose all weapons at once, but the XP bonus is very much needed once you reach 90.

And Prestige trophies? What a cute idea. Now I imagine Diana giving them to 47 when she's exceptionally proud of him.

ICA FACILITY CONTRACTS MODE

On May 11th, we’re expanding Contracts Mode to now include the ICA Facility location. More specifically it’s the Freeform Training mission that takes place on the yacht. Many of you will have spent hours and hours here in the HITMAN 1 beta back in 2016 and we’re excited to see what contracts you create here. Look out for some of them in the Featured Contracts section soon!

Still kinda happy about it. It's a fun training mission, and it always felt weird to have Contracts Mode for the final test, but not for the yacht!

I'm not too much into Contracts Mode in general though, so not sure how much I personally get out of it (apart from playing the featured contracts that will come).

NEW UNLOCKS

The Black Bruiser Suit The "HITMAN" Challenge tasks you with completing any Freelancer campaign on Hardcore Mode. We think you’ll agree it’ll be worth it. Plus, if you’ve already managed to do that, the suit will be yours instantly when you launch the game after the patch. Get started now and claim it on May 11.

Finally a reason to play Hardcore Mode.

Exploding Pen As the old phrase goes: ‘explosions speak louder than words’. That’s never been more true with the Exploding Pen you can unlock by heading back into the Patient Zero campaign and eliminating Craig Black under some specific and fitting circumstances. This item was previously an Elusive Target exclusive unlock in HITMAN 2, but we’re making it available to all World of Assassination players through this new challenge.

Still super excited about this! I love not only that they're making the original exploding pen available for everyone, but also even more the challenge they picked for unlocking it!

PATCH NOTE HIGHLIGHTS

At the time of writing, there are 87 individual fixes, tweaks and improvements ready to roll out in this patch. A lot of focus has been on player frustration around the Freelancer mode since launch, but there are also some more general fixes for the game in general that will keep things tight, but also have an impact on Freelancer indirectly.

Oh boy oh boy, let's hope the things that annoy me will get patched!

Spycam Toggle (Freelancer) We’ve added an option to “Hide UI” when using the Spycam. This was in response to player feedback that the UI elements can make it difficult to identify the finer details of a character with the elements permanently visible. For example, seeing whether a suspect was wearing earrings.

YES! That's great, not only because the UI made it impossible to see details at times, but also because it made taking nice photos in Showdowns impossible.

Perfect Shooter Tweak (Freelancer) We’ve made a change to the ‘Perfect Shooter’ objective (Do not miss a shot, you will fail if any shot misses a person), that will make an exception for security cameras or recorders. The objective text has also been updated. In short, you can now shoot security cameras and recorders and still earn the Perfect Shooter objective.

Really? I wouldn't have expected them to listen to those who complained. Not mad about it, because I like to shoot cameras, but how can you think it's unfair that shooting a camera fails an objective that tells you you'll fail it when you fire a shot that misses a person?

SA Recorder (Freelancer) We’ve updated the Prestige Objective description for SA/NF and SA/SO to mention “Destroy Surveillance Recorder” if the player gets recorded. Previously, this wasn’t mentioned and the objectives would be failed on mission completion if the player was recorded but didn’t destroy the recorder.

Happy about it. I usually don't forget, because I always erase the footage before I leave a mission, but so many people failed Hardcore because they didn't know it wouldn't tell them.

SA Reward (Freelancer) We’ve adjusted the Payout objectives and Prestige objectives to make Silent Assassin / SA Suit Only (SASO) and Silent Assasin / No Firearms (SANF) objectives more rewarding.

Fair. I usually pick Silent Assassin objectives, so I'm pleased.

Patient Fox We’ve also removed the forced disguise restriction on the Club Entrance Starting location in Berlin for the main campaign. Same goes for the default starting location of the Patient Zero mission in Hokkaido.

Avengers #200 Review: One of the Worst Moments in Marvel History (Comissoined by Brotoman.EXE)

Avengers #200.. is the worst thing i've ever had to cover ofr this blog. I thoguht after the 22 minute transphobic nightmare of quagmire's mom it'd NEVER be topped.. but as I wrote this the anger just welled in me more and more, every stupid line, bad decision, and gross bit of misogny and rape just pissed me off mor eand more and more. Quagmire's dad is close and it physically hurt to write this one too but not as much. I'm honestly suprised I finished writing this, but i'm proud I did but man was it a lot.

If you haven't heard of this issue… super good it means your life is slightly better. But in short it folllows Carol Danvers through the worst moment of her life. At the time Carol was , naturally, an avenger, having migrated from her recently canceled solo by Chris Claremont to the avengers and at what started as a good time: David Michlinne of Iron Man and Spider-Man fan started a , from what i've read of it that's not this steaming bowl of elephant piss, fairly good run, clarifying Wanda Maximoff's backstory , having nice dynamics with the team and writing Carol Herself well. Carol had just had her ongoing by Chris Claremont, which despite it's issues is worth checking out and also integral to the sequel to this story we'll also be covering shortly, canceled but was popular enough to get ported to avengers, and Michline continued the work claremont did having her as strong, indepdneent and badass.

So what to do with her next? Have her slowly work up to leader like future Captain Marvel Monica Ramebeau would? Have her serve? No his plan.. was to get rid of her by magic space pregnancy.

See for a long time the Kree Supreme Intellgence, the incredibly huge head that rules the miltaristic Kree Empire, had wanted to end his species genetic stagnation, and thus was fascinated with Carol as a Kree-Human hybrid. So Dave's brilliant idea… was to have her be pregnant thanks to him.

Yeah that's already not great, but likely would result in her fighting him. and the build up.. wasn't half bad. It still had both the terrible trope of "magic prengancY" which is RIFE with terrible implications on it's own and had a moment.. like this where David interprets "feminism" as "hates the idea of having children" instead of "Supports women's rights to CHOOSE if they want to have a child or not"

But I chalk that up unlike the decision to do this storyline at all or it's awful, AWFUL conclusion to David simply not getting how feminism worked and to his credit when writing Mary Jane on spider-man, the years had taught him how to write an independent female character with a career driven mind with more nuance. I mean he still had her kidnapped and stuff but like… it's progress from "You know what would be funny and ironic? Have carol hate the idea of having a child, as is her perogative, and instead have her get forcibly imprennated?" I mean most writing decisions are better than that but I respect when a writer changes with time and actually evolves as he goes instead of stick to sexist belieifs.

Carol suddenly fates and at the hopsital dr. phil announces her prengancy with all the grace and tact you'd expect.

"I mean what woman WOULDN'T be exicited to suddenly find out she's pregnant after three months and clearly didn't know it? It's not like they have a dangerous job where the baby couldn't of been hurt, could've been assaulted or GASP dont' want to raise a child" Women amirite?. Get used to that last one, as this comic has big "Women amirite" energy

Anyways next issue, we do get a genuinely tender well done scene as Carol admits her vulnerability to Scarlet Witch.. as well as her secret identity.

It's a touching moment between friends and something Chris Claremont clearly remembered for his followup. It's also notable Wanda is one of the only people who seems to consitently think about Carol's needs during this whole debacle.. even if sh'es dead wrong about two thigns: that scarf she tied to her head is absolutely not working for her, and The Avengers are going to be as unhelpful as possible. Well okay unhlepful as possible would be chucking her into the grand canyon while 9 months pregnant, as she'll be shortly, but even that sounds better than some of teh shit they'll do and say.

Finally after an incident involving a giant samurai robot built to kill Godzilla, which also isn't even in Wanda's top 10 but does at least make the top 20, the avengers return to find Carol.. though weirdly Captain America, one of the sharper people in the marvel universe.. can't recognize carol despite not wearing her domino mask. I mean look the ms marvel outfit is fine but like… it's not that concealing. Though frnakly his reactiona t least makes sense as he's shocked since he only saw carol days ago entirley not pregnant. IT's the resonable reaction to finding out your friend has a rapidly escalating pregnancy. The less resonable ones are…

Yeah these responses are a sign of things to come from these three idiots… and just for some context, Janet Van Dyne is fucking aweosme. Henry McCoy used to be fucking aweosme.a nd Simon Williams eh he's alright. But the weird dopplegangers replacing them for avengers 199 and 200 can fuck right off as their written so terribly it hurts. Janet wants to celebrate despite being told in THE PREVIOUS PANEL that she was suddenly 7 months pregnant, beast makes a stupid joke, and Simon CONGRADULATES her. I get Janet wasn't the firey independent woman she'd become post divorce but she still was empathetic enough not to do this. Hank is a certified genius and hindu sex god, he'd at least know whne not to joke and Simon out of all of them at least comes off like he had no idea what to say to any of this. It's also neat Donald Blake is way better to Carol than his alter ego will be, but we'll get to that.

Thankfully Janet is back to being herself for a moment next panel.. as the avengers worry.. and we get one heck of a cliffhanger

Yeah the labor itself is normal. But everything about this is as nuts as it is awful, so join me under the cut as I get into the issue itself if you feel comfortable doing so. I'd normally just say join me under the cut but given the books contents (poitns to content warning) I feel just saying "GET IN THERE" isn't reomtely approraite. So with a bunch of the avengers waiting outside the Mansion's operating theater, where Dr. Donald Blake is tending to MS. Marvel. As for who donald is he's the alter ego of thor, who had one for most of his life till Walt Simonson decided "nah" and did away with that and most attempts to try it again haven't stuck. He's sometimes a diffrent being, sometimes just thor in a human body, sometimes a mad god after being stuck in his own pocket realm. He's a multifacted indivdual. Point is he's the doctor the avengers turn too when needed without most of them knowing he's actualyl mighty thor since they didn't want to bother to introduce another superhero doctor, kinda like how Doc Sampson is the psychatrist to most superheroes. At any rate he's operating with Jocasta. Jocasta is a mechanical wife built by Ultron, who being based on Hank Pym's brain patterns in the comics, decided to base Jocasta's on Hank's then wife Jan. But like all Ultron's creations except his robot dog I just learned existed

Such a good boy he, she rebelled and became a sorta member of the avengers for a while. She also ended up dating Hank Pym despite being her grandfather as she saw him more as "god", and really given her own creator wanted to make her his wife, I can't blame her for not wanting to go with that line of logic.

Waiting around we see some other avengers: Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye and the previously seen Wonder Man and Beast. For those more familiar with the MCU I don't really need to explain the first two. Hawkeye as you can see had one hell of an outfit, one that's both a tad goofy.. and really cool at the same time. Why they coudln't of just adapted this one but took off the giant mask (Which I love but get may of not worked on film), and isntead just gave him a purple bodysuit I don't know. He also had an actual personality instead of "Has family, did spy stuff, natasha was like a sister to him", being a bit abrasive, when just starting out he had a habit of challenging cap at every turn which makes them later being close friends all the sweeter, but ultimately a well meaning guy. He had his lapses in judgment and periods written as a total ass hat, see "getting mad his wife didn't save her rapist" and "any time brian micheal bendis has ever written him", but at his best he's a well meaning hot mess whose far more capable than most give him credit for .

Wonder Man is a sun glasses wearing fellow with a complicated history. In short, he was a faile dindustralist who was given super powers by the masters of evil, think evil avengers, and sent in as a mole. He genuinely bonded with them but his body seemingly gave out.. but instead his ionic powers put him in a death coma, and when he was brought back as a zombie he genuinely came back and thus became an avenger for real. The Vision was based on his brain patterns, with how he feels about Vision depending on whose writing him: At best, like under Steve Englehart, he sees Vision as a brother if it's a bit awkward since he wasn't ask. At worst, lik eunder JOhn Byrne.. he refuses because he wants to sleep with his wife. Most of the time though Simon is pretty likable, just not one of my faviorites.

Finally we have Beast. Most probably know his deal as he's been in almost every x-men adaptation and is you know awesome.. or at least was. But many are likely curious why he's an avenger. It's pretty simple: a few years before this the x-men's ongoing title ended, and for whatever reason Beast got a very short lived solo adventure. It's also where he got his iconic fuzzy apperance as he drank some science juice to give him an extra boost while exploring some corrupt employers and didn't change back in time. For whatever reason Steve Englehart took to this new version of Beast and had him join the avengers during an open tryout. He's also the one who gave beast his cheery personality, with Hank deciding after some moping to make the best of his new form. He and Wonder Man are best pals and he was a valued member for some time and it's why when you see him in the early chris claremont x-stuff, he's with the avengers, first asking the x-men to take care of a dangerious situation we'll get to next month, and then guest starring for a few issues during the dark phoenix saga, which we'll hopefully get to later this year.

So yeah while I just defended clint not a paragraph ago.. this is one of those total asshat periods as.. this is what he has to say abotu cap being understandably worried about his friend having a mystery child she dosen't rmemeber conceiving coming out of her about a day after finding out.

God I wish it were Freddy Kruger. But no it's a seemingly normal baby they all coo over forgetting you know.. this is fucking weird. Also Beast thinks he'll be quarterbacking for the jets. I didn't know Hank liked sports ball.

Also at the birth are a recently arrived Wasp and Yellowjacket. For those less familar with two of my faviorite heroes, their Janet Van Dyne and Hank Pym, but in the comics they were both around the same age as Scott Lang instea dof the previous generation. Their relationship also ended pretty badly with hank having a severe mental breakdown and phsyciclaly and emotoinally abusing janet. Hank did later make amends, get help , and what not but he never forgot wha the did nor stop trying to atone for it. So it makes it kinda awkward to see them here just a few years before all that happened. Hank was Yellowjacket becaause during one breakdown brought on by some lab chemicals, he developed a split personality that claimed he killed haank and Jan's reaction instead of.. telling her friends so she could cure him.. was to marry him like this. I can't imagine why no one voted for that one in the valentine's poll. At any rate Jan goes to check up on Carol, Ms Marvel at the time. Carol is.. abotu enthused about all this as she should be.

Carol is right that both she was used, how we'll get to and this isn't a good thing. She's RIGHT to be pissed after being forced through birth and having everyone around her tell her. It's especially bad since for all we know she has postpartum on TOP of having been grossly used, and everyone's response is "OHHH A BABY SO CUTE WHO CARES IF HE"S A HORRIBLE MIRACLE BABY WHO POPPED OUT OF OUR FRIENDS UTERUS AFTER SOME UNKNOWN ENTITY POPPED IT IN HER" .

So we get some interludes for a bit: Vision and Wanda happily make up for lost time (He stayed on duty during her sabstical), and both agree having kids right now probably isn't the best decision since they both have very dangerous very active careers, while we get a fun scene of Hank hustling Hawkeye at pool, using a calculator to easily fleece him. Both scenes that would be great and fondly remembered if they werne't in the middle of hell.

Speaking of which the demon baby speaks with one word "c'-change" Because apparentlye ven rapists self birthing baby men like david bowie.

Anyways after a guy ends up in another time period after coming back with groceries. This both has an explination and as we've sene is far from the most baffling thing in this comic

We cut back to Carol whose back up and about and in costume.. and we get.. this scene

Okay this one isn't AS infurating as while Simon is still being a dick.. it's more of a "it was 1980 most men would likely say this kind of shit and not get what they were doing". The effects of having a child through rape, which is what this is and what it comes off as in Carol's reactoins, wreen't known and Simon dosen't get forcing her ot face her trauma this soon is bad. But at least he's trying to take her feelings into account and trying to help. He's doing it fucking horribly..but he's not going "OHHH BABY OOHHHH BABY" like he just ate some bad enchaladas. He's still a bit of a dick but it's at least more "this has aged poorly" than

SPeaking of which as you can see Beast's reaction.. is to give the now child nightmare baby some sports stuff but he instead wants electronics. Cap, apparently carying the team brain cell at the moment instead.. interogates him since it's obvious the kid has full intellgence.

…. okay i'm really starting to wonder about that gas leak. So to recap in response to Cap wanting to honestly find out what is going on here, and spoilers Marcus, as he calls himself, ISN'T lying, and it's every bit as horrifying as it sounds but we'll get to that, Tony's response is "Oh just give the mystery baby who apparently impregnanted our friend against her will with himself it'll be fine". We then get simon being a full on dick as his repsonse to Carol not showing up.. is… is… this.

I'm struggling to write this one because a good chunk of this comic is just… pure infuration. Just sexist nonsense about how Carol should just buck up nad face a baby she didn't want nor ask for that was raped into her and that it's just "WOMEN AMIRITE" while al lher friends give said baby man everything he asks for with no questions. Every panel is some form of character assasnatoin and it's not even the INTENTIONAL kind. It's so assinine their doing this purely on accident. I mean so far Jan has cooed over Marcus, Beast just wants to give him sports ball, Simon has berated his friend for not wanting to face her child by rape just yet that also done did it, Hawkeye cracks jokes about Steve being the dad, Tony and Thor give him electronics, and Jocasta hasn't been mentioned by me but is busy being mad Vision is with his wife instead of her, but at least has the exccuse of emotoins being new to her!! Steve , Wanda and Vision are either on the sides or have their own crap to deal with and Carol is you know HORRIFIED. Every other character is being butchred by this fucking thing. And given as I've said I love Hawkeye, Beast, Janet and Hank, it's PAINFUL to see them butchered by this and disgusting to see this done to carol.

Okay so back with the plot Carol decides to see her son when.. this happens

…. just.. my god. The only thing more unsettling than this.. is the reveal of just what's going on her. Which is somehow worse than Carol eyehumping her newly born now adult son.

The Avengers, somehow, have bigge rproblems as a spaceship, a t-rex and god knows what else are appearing outside as time itslef breaks down. And the ensuing actiona s most of the avengers go to deal with it… is pretty awesome. Like the scene with beast were this comic not what it was, this would be pretty badass. I mean iron man punches a dinosaur, vision lasers a ufo, wanda hexes a medivil witch hunting knight. It's all pretty dope stuff.

The dope stuff ends for a second.. with some racisit sterotyping.. and with Cap succumbing to the gas leak.

Yes le'ts not assume the mostly naked man who mysteriously appeared inside your friend's uterus and has been buidling some science fiction tower in your house is behind time suddenly going apeshit. ONE OF THE 616'S GREATST STRATEGESTS EVERYBODY

So while Marcus finishes his machine, the rest of the avengers join the fight and while Vision takes out some lasers, Wonder man gets attacked by a prehistoric snake… and again while the rest of this comic is pure agony.. we get something really awesome. Like… all time i'm going to bring this up when possible awesome. Something that dosent' remotely make this worth it but helps keep me coherent enough to finish instead of just banging my head on the keyboard a few times and calling it a day.

Yeah you saw it here.. unless i'm halucinating this from the stress: Wonder Man just fast balled special a large prehistoic snake into a ptreodactyls' throat to free iron man from it's cluttches. Even in it's darkest hours shit like this reminds me why I love comics.. and it somehow gets better as thor's solution to all of this?

Okay so Marcus is the Son of Immortus, whose also a lot: So Immortus is the possible future verison of Kang the Conquerer, avengers foe and soon to be mcu big bad, a time traveler who conquers throughout time and space, hence the possible future self. He apparently died even though that makes no sense, but we don't have time to unpack that.

Marcus was born when Immortus saved a woman from a shipwreck then …

He's a fucking rapist who put all of reality in danger because he was bored! and his only excuse for not helping was "Would you help if I told you I was the son of your enemy". Well probably not at first but they might've if you reached out. You coudl bring peole there, bring cap there, and give him a few weeks to get to know you. The avengers have the genius of tony stark and hank pym.. well not today, gas leak and all but usually! They coudl've helped you! Instead you raped a woman because you wanted to! Because at the end of the day it was easier to just rape your way into this world and because you WANTED to. And Jim shooter thought THIS was okay? I get he had to change gears but THIS wa shis first thought? and everyone went along with this? All of this can fuck straight off. Originally when I started writing this it was only tied for the worst thing i've read but nothing, not even the blatant family guy transphobia that once held the spot has made me this. fucking . angery. They had a character rape a woman and had the fucking GALL to try to go "oh but he's so sad and lonely". So was the Phantom of the Opera and you know what? He murdered a bunch of people even did a kidnapping but he didn't RAPE christine! He had weird conseual sex that produced a son accoridng ot the sequel but he didn't. You did. You violated a woman because you deep down wanted to and then told the story in a way to make you come out the hero while still BLATANTLY mentoining you manipulated her. It was right there, as Carol will rightly point out in the sequel. Marcus.. is a rapist and the story treats him as the hero

Yeah you just saw that. Marcus leaves.. and they LET Carol go with him despite CLEARLY not being hersel fat the itme, having hated this whole idea before seeing marcus and "suddenly" being infatuated with him. At the very least despite you know, helpng with the stupid tower plan, Tony is clearly like "what the actual fuck" and it's VERY clear he dosen't remotely think this is a good idea, want a part in this or want this to happen. Thor though? thor is like "ZOUNDS I'LL TAKE YOU THERE YOU WANNA GO THERE I'LL TAKE YOU TO THAT GREAT PLACE OF RAPE AND MORE MOLESTATION!"

Thor: God of Dickheads. Yeah as you can tell this issue is a disaster. I'm sure there were letters against it but most dammingly was the essay the rape of miss marvel published by one Carol A Strickland, which nicely details how utterly gross this was with less mental breakdowns than me but just as much anger.

Thankfully her stay wasn't long. And trust me in comics it can sometimes take DECADES for a bad decision to be overturned. The stupid ediotrially mandated retcon that Sam Wilson be a pimp took until the mid goddamn 2010's for a writer to formally say "this didn't happen", and shockingly easily and in a way that could've been done long ago. This only took a year as one of the many pissed off.. was X-Men's CHris Claremont. See before this Chris had written Carols' solo, so the first chance he got he fixed this and just to make sure nothing else horrible happened spirtied carol's body and mind over to Uncanny X-Men. HOw'd he do it? We'll find out next time. As for this issue: it's terrible, you shouldn't seek it out, and you should stay far away form it. You shoudlnt' forget it exist so shit like this dosen't happen again, and it should serve as a dark reminder of the worst comics is capable of.. but you don't have to go through it yourself. It's agonizing, terrible and gross and I feel bad for having read it and everyone involved feels as bad as they fucking should have fo rhaving made it. ☆ doesn't like showing that he's actually into someone. it's actually quite noticeable and funny when Ro becomes a little standoffish and red when he's around T

☆ he's so big on romantic gestures, specifically ones that can be read as romantic; so expect T to get some roses, asked on private 'not dates' to Ro's favorite cafes and spots, openly holding hands with him more and more

☆ loves to wrap his arms around T!!! big fan of being the big spoon, sleeping and awake

☆ T's like the only one that can actually make Ro feel better after being frustrated for some reason. Ro would just get out of a particularly frustrating meeting and everyone would be trying to talk with him, but T cracks one joke and he's all sunshine and smiles again.

☆ everyone knows its bad when T pulls a specifically annoying prank on him and when he reveals its a prank, Ro laughs it off like nothing

☆ same deal with T's nicknames. "Ro-Ro-Ro Your Boat", "Ro-bot", and everything like them have become a lot less annoying to Robaire; it's getting suspicious

☆ regardless of Ro's difficulty expressing his romantic emotions through explicit words, he's the first to confess. he couldn't be happier.

☆ if they can't be public, they're big fans of holding pinkies right before they go onstage or as they're coming off, matching or sharing silly things like socks or jewelry, or sharing knowing, fun glances at each other between interviews

☆ Ro is a very proud boyfriend though, and as soon as they're comfortable or able to be out and proud, he has no problem being very open and happy about being T's partner!

✪ once he starts crushing on Ro, he's like joke master number one. i mean this guy really goes for it whenever he knows Ro is watching.

✪ sometimes the other guys will get after him for trying just a bit too hard. like "okay, T, maybe jumping into that fountain wasn't as charming as you thought. doesn't matter how hard Ro laughed." (doesn't stop him, though!)

✪ if you thought Robaire was bad at expressing his romantic emotions, think again. T shows absolutely no outward romantic interest!! it almost makes Ro second guess himself when confessing

✪ T is a more in-private kinda guy. his forms of romantic or personal expression come in the 'little' things, like seeing him without his hat, allowing him to be around while he's crying, or talking with him when he's not smiling or joking around

✪ but Ro certainly notices these things and really tries to respect whatever unspoken boundaries T has made. not so slowly, though, T starts to realize he's letting his guard down around Ro a lot more than he feels he should

✪ T letting Ro see his feelings is what signals to T that something is certainly up, because this was actually a difference the other guys couldn't pick up on so fast. well, they aren't there to see those more personal moments

✪ when it really does come to T that he likes Ro, he starts getting all giddy around Ro. like, butterflies in his tummy. Ro turns his tummy in a way his other buddies just don't, if you catch my drift ;)

✪ T probably ends up spending more time without his hat, being vulnerable, even in front of the other guys. he doesn't even notice! it's usually just something he wants Ro to notice, and it starts to matter less and less if others do.

✪ T is the best at gift-giving. while he isn't one to give lots of gifts like Ro, he's gotten the most creative. he loves to combine some of Ro's interests into one gift, and he usually nails it. Ro keeps everything!

✪ T is also a proud partner, but it's more in a silly way. think the 'tada' will smith meme. he likes to keep the more personal or sentimental parts of the relationship to himself and his partner. but honestly? that's just him. if his partner wants to do that, T has stopped caring who sees.

2 Scottuary Set (ratings vary from G-E)

My first set of scottuary fics. 13 fics all with a significant amount of effort by myself and @spikeface combining the prompts to fill out an entire card. I was so thrilled when I got that blackout. And I am really proud of every single one of those stories.

3 Deucalion's Progeny (e, dark fic, noncon)

This is the fic that probably really got me back into writing. I did it for nano 2021 and spent a lot of 2022 finishing it. It's incredibly self-indulgent and I really just let myself indulge of my dark little urges for it. It's also truedemon. I'm so close to finishing it, tbh. But I am still proud of it even if it isn't done.

4 Amplification (e, darkfic, noncon)

This was the first wip I have posted before completion in decades. I was Very Concern that it would join many from the past as "never completed forever". But I did finish it. And I really liked how it turned out.

5 Scott/Multishipping Edit

I think this shows a lot of what I have learned re: editing this year. I also love how many different pairings I managed to get. I have plans to make another with just as many *different* pairings. Scott should be the fandom bike and I am so happy to show everyone why.

Listen. I spent so much time on this crack edit you don't even know. And it makes me laugh every single time.

Top 3 Improvements in your writing:

1- Confidence. I know have a lot more confidence in my abilities and ideas than I did before the beginning of last year.

2- Learning to work with a beta reader and really use constructive feedback to make something good Extra good

3-Writing a fic about someone who isn't the POV character and finding that balance. I would point to my Noshiko and Scott, Boyd and Scott and Satomi and Kira fics as fics where I felt like I really learned a lot about find that. It's challenging but so rewarding.

Top 2 resolutions

1 - quit measuring the success of my writing by kudos, especially as compared to others. it's not super reasonable in general, and so much worse in this fandom

2- work with helping other writers, possibly by beta reading. understanding i can offer valuable insight even if I'm not the best at spelling and grammar help

Which, to be fair, is a completely impossible question to answer. I love a lot of the lines I wrote this year. But I haven't had the opportunity to brag about the summary for my scira fic:

Fortunately or unfortunately for you guys, I think I'm hilarious. This summary never fails to make me smile. And the fic is p hot porn, too. Very loving. <3 (For real, actually.)
