Being a woc fan of Bridgerton can be a struggle, especially when it comes to liking the poc characters on the show, especially the woc. Like I remember when s1 came out and the blatant microaggressions and just plain racism coming from this fandom was atrocious. You had people spewing very hateful things about Charlotte, Marina, and Simon and undermining the latter two's pain and trauma at the hands of the white characters---Marina was treated terribly by the Featheringtons and, whether you like Penelope or not, you cannot deny that she also played a part by releasing that letter to the Ton and Simon was violated Daphne no matter how people try to spin the story to offer her some form of sympathy (it still blows my mind that people would want to though).

S2 is just as bad (not even including how they changed the Sharma family's storyline than how it was in the books when that wasn't necessary) and the racist undertones many of the fans have towards Mary and Edwina (as well as Kate but for her it's carries more brown woman needing to be saved by a white man when Anthony is involved because a lot of you all in the fandom are quick to use this trope such as "oh, he's the only one who truly knows her"). The lack of screen time for this family really ends up hurting them to but even with that, whether you like Mary and Edwina or not, it would be a lie to deny the racism a lot in the fandom hold towards them (and how that falls onto the actresses because it was very apparent how many in the fandom couldn't let two Desi women shine without having to bring down the other and Netflix played into that too for drama) and paints every small thing they do as being terrible crimes but in the same breath will not have the same smoke for the Bridgertons, who have their own set of problems (but because they are also the main family, among other things, they are provided more grace without consequences).

i feel like there is so much to be said about drizzt do’urden’s religious views and how he’s a stand-in for culturally christian atheists. he grew up in a corrupt religious society and has religious trauma, so as a result he views all religion as bad. at first it seems like he’s going to have a “pagan finds jesus” story but he eventually rejects mielikki too, and imo, it always felt out of character that he followed her in the first place so i wasn’t surprised when he changed his mind. he was looking for a name to label his preexisting system of ideals, which feels very much like christians who claim “all that matters is that you live by the bible and live in a godly manner”. many religions are about teachings and traditions as much as they are about “just being a good person and following god’s vibes” (which i feel like is INCREDIBLY standard in american protestantism)

i think a lot of it comes down to the fact that the forgotten realms (and a lot of fantasy tbh) treats the gods as just Very Powerful People instead of the forces of nature personified (and again this is to be expected from a christian culture, where jesus was Just A Guy)

i dont knowwwwwwwwwww i just. my thing is that i think the changelings could have an interesting place in the narrative given jims whole conflict is about trying to navigate his place in two worlds neither of which he completely fits in but both of which he needs to be his complete and authentic self. but they shoot themselves in the foot by making strickler the main one and they get sooooo close to doing this with nomura before getting bored and doing it again but worse with strickler. so in my mind i think this is why i was so set on addy being a changeling because i want her to fill that narrative role of someone who's ACTUALLY chill about this dichotomy and who really loves this part of herself without the baggage inherent to nomnoms situation (not acknowledging strickler he did most of that to himself). i just think he needs someone who can show him that its actually genuinely very possible to have both halves of his heart especially post-potion. but man. you cant really get there without dancing around the janus order stuff. and i know if she was real it would just be a cheap lampshade like "welllll shes a polymorph so. no familiar no problem" but that opens up a can of worms that i feel responsible for. and just in general the entire thing has so much baggage. i wish this show was GOOD.

you know, thinking about it more, i know everyone is betting on aaron peters faking being nintendo, but it wouldn't be out of character for nintendo to do all of this either.

i keep thinking back to when giivasunner was struck and everyone thought it was a guy faking being nintendo, which had happened many times before, but nope it was actually nintendo.

i always see a "but why gmod? and why now?" as a counter, but that also makes me think back to hearing (don't know if its 100% true, take with salt) that the terraria calamity mod got a notice to remove the nintendo songs, back before they got dokuro on as a composer, which was half of the reason he was hired anyway. and this was back before calamity and modding terraria as a whole blew up.

and again, giivasunner. they went after brawlBRSTMs3 X two years before giivasunner. they could've jumped sooner, but they waited, and we don't know why. so 15+ years of mods or not; not acting sooner is in-character for them.

all in all, i wouldn't be surprised to hear if this is the real deal, that aaron got nintendo's attention and they decided to act. because you know, a lot of the models were ~illegally ripped~ from their games and shared around for free. and especially since even garry is convinced.

I fucking miss old school youtube lets players yknow. the ones who actually talked and brought their own personality into the videos they made and more often than not committed to finishing the games they started and made multiple videos of them and their commentary was actually relevant to the game and what they thought and how they felt about it and not just random garbage they're chatting with strangers cus you're not actually watching a let's play you're just watching a stream vod. most of youtube let's plays are either "no commentary" or just live stream vods these days. I'm gonna sound selfish but talk to me. tell me what you think about the game. why are you doing what you're doing. how do you feel about the characters. how do you feel about the story. idgaf that someone in your twitch chat went to see the newest marvel movie and now has thoughts about it and wants to know your take on that movie too I don't fucking care and I don't want to hear about it when I'm watching a video of a completely different game I very specifically looked up because I care about that story and want to experience it while knowing I'm too bad at video games to play it myself.
