Any starting resources for someone looking to get into Transformers?
I can’t speak for everyone but if I could time travel this is the list I would give to past me
1 - Transformers Prime. (Great series + basic lore/terms/names introduction for the new fans )
2 - Transformers : More than meets the eye + Transformers : Lost Light (IDW) (Infinitely dramatic gay clownery. Such a gem. 10/10. You need to have at least basic understanding of tf lore and terminology though. This is why I recommend watching “Transformers Prime” first)
3 - You probably have some of those robits as yours favorites at this point. Type “IDW insert name” into google or youtube to find out where to look for more comics with them. Use this image to navigate the timeline chronology so you always know what happens after what. (Don’t try to read everything on that list from the very start in chronological order - you will die of boredom)
Tumblr media
4 - Transformers Animated (This series has it’s own version of tf lore that might cause a lot of confusion if you try to read IDW comics after watching it without being already familiar with the basics. That’s what happened to me lmao There’s a lot of primes instead of just one Prime. And Bots and Cons are kind of like two different species or something.)
5 - Transformers Earthspark ( Very good series but you need to have a lot of prior knowledge to fully understand its themes. It’s writers did a great job at showing how much their characters have changed but absolutely forgot to show what they were like before they changed. This is why you need to read comics or watch the other shows first. Earthspark Megatron is redeemed villain but they didn’t show him being a villain. Earthspark Starscream is traumatised but they didn’t fucking show what exactly happened to him, they just expect you to already know. I could write an essay about this lol I need to stop)
6 - Transformers 1986 animated movie. For some reason I really love it. (The reason is Roddy who am I kidding) Maybe also Prime wars trilogy? Cyberverse? Transformers G1? Poke at everything. Have fun.

The Trigger collab animation came out and it’s the best thing Transformers has done in the current decade.
Truly a love letter to Transformers from G1 to EarthSpark, it squeezes in everything it possibly can from most media. However the catch is that it’s only animated media and the live action movies, the comics (any assorted manga, Marvel, Dreamwave, IDW & Skybound) aren’t referenced, while some Japanese exclusive stuff gets a lil’ bit more attention (understandable since it’s, y’know, Japanese fans being nostalgic about the anime they grew up with).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transformers Go, Q-Transformers, and the Beast Wars anime got particular attention.
Tumblr media
This shot of Liger Megatron and Green Lion Lio Convoy is especially cool.
I think initially I was expecting a Trigger animated greatest hits from select moments from each show, and while they still technically do that in spots…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s mostly a mega crossover with different characters interacting otherwise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it’s all the better for it.
I mean where else are you gonna find TFA Optimus about to smash Masterforce Overlord’s face in?
Tumblr media
There’s no real narrative, it’s just random cool shots though the closest thing to a framing device is the PV opening with Vector Prime looking down on Cybertron across all time lines.
Regarding EarthSpark’s contributions to the short, they’re minimal. The Terrans and Mandroid don’t appear at all, which is a little bizarre.
ES Megatron appears among the other Decepticon leaders instead of being with ES Optimus on the Autobot leader side.
Tumblr media
You’d think Mandroid would be there next to BWII Galvatron instead, but I guess not. Sadly they omitted RiD15 Steeljaw too, instead using RiD15 Megatronus Prime’s floating head.
SatAM Robotnik voice: Ah well, life is not perfect.
The main ES rep are the Maltos.
Tumblr media
This just reinforces ES needed to be 2D, because they actually look good. Roche’s style doesn’t work in 3D.
Anyway the human cast they chose for this final shot amuses me.
Tumblr media
Love seeing my favorite Clays being included. The lack of RiD Steeljaw (G1 Steeljaw did appear with Lio Junior and RiD15 Aerobolt though) is forgiven.
Anyhow, the specific use of the Clays, the (S3) Witwickys, the Maltos and the Onishis (this is especially funny since Koji’s mom never met her universe’s Optimus) is somehow very random, but also kinda appropriate. Like I get Spike and Dot’s families, since it serves as bookends, but the Clays and Onishis still feel a bit random. Still, including both Robots in Disguise families is a nice touch in my book!
The short ends with a different bookend as mentioned.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What starts out as G1 Prime & Megs transitions to ES Prime & Megs shaking hands. The old with the current series. It works~! I admit I’m surprised they didn’t include TFONE somehow. I know it’s technically not out yet, but there’s enough material to have had Orion and D-16 have some kind of tussle. It would’ve been an interesting way to tie it into the above scene and this one:
Tumblr media
When it comes to general rep, the stuff that gets the most focus is G1, Beast Wars, Animated, & Galaxy Force. Cyberverse doesn’t really get anything beyond the leader shot, but there is this awesome but very random shot of Croaton over looking Holi’s Rescue Patrol walking on a beach littered with the dead bodies of the generic Decepticons from “War Dawn”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sucks to be you guys.
It also occurs to me the Rescue Bots cartoons appear to be omitted along with BotBots, but that might partly be due to them not having Japanese releases? I’m not sure, but it’s funny how Q-Transformers is acknowledged of all things, but not Heatwave or Burgertron. Maaaaybe that’s for the best on the later…
Still the PV is a blast and is pry the most earnest passion project that GETS Transformers vs what we’ve been getting post Aligned cartoon wise.
I still hope this leads to a proper TF anime series made by Trigger, like what happened with Gridman. We need a return to good 2D animated TF shows and not more CGI slop like WFC or S2 ES. That Beast Wars and Machines are still superior despite being retro by today’s standards says something…
The catch however is the original video is region locked…
Tumblr media
but some fans have ripped it and posted it on their YT:
youtube
So go check it out while you can! It’s pure Energon-y goodness!

I love blocking IDW1 stans whining about Energon Universe!
I am enjoying Energon Universe because it's a tragedy grounded in the harshness of the reality of war yet softened with kindness and understanding. I am enjoying Energon Universe because it's exploring concepts from G1 I've wanted to see expanded. I am enjoying Energon Universe because the love the writers have for these stories radiates through the pages. I am enjoying Energon Universe because you can tell that the writers are really collaborating. I am enjoying Energon Universe because I like seeing characters genuinely care for each other, even when it hurts.
I've even been enjoying the GI Joe part of it despite never being all that interested in it before.
I can appreciate that IDW1 has its fans and that it means a lot to some people. I cannot say that I enjoyed very much of what I read from it and am happy to move on.

currently thinking about names in tlt. names are very much a subject that is constantly touched on in the universe- names typically follow which house one belongs to. the most explicit of this is the Tridentati, but that extends to pretty much everyone we meet in book 1. when gideon fully adopts the role of harrowhark's caviler at the end, it's repeated for the second time that nav is a niner name.
and then we find out john changed his lyctor's names post loved-one-slaying. their pre-resurrection names are forgotten, revered as holy even within the private og lyctors. he takes their names, a symbol of where they're from and the earth they failed, and strips them to the bone. he tacks on their cavalier's name on the end as an afterthought, a tribute to the graveyard he turned his friends into. even then, the cavaliers names are lost. he replaces them with what he thinks represents them, despite there being very little chance he was close enough to them to come up with something more than an incredibly shallow understanding of who they are. pyrrha becomes Duty. christabel becomes Joy. we don't know cytherea's saint name, but considering how even john wasnt a fan of loveday, it would make sense why she wouldn't want to use an alias for the most important person in her life. even less so one created by the man who not only lead her to her death, but never even liked her. hell, john doesn't even bother using most of the cavalier's names censored in ntn.
and then we're brought to gideon's first name. she is (unwittingly by the ninth house, in their defense) named after g1. after all, wake's ghost's last words come from right after he pushes her out of the airlock. we know that gideon dies in htn and pyrrha takes over the meatsuit. we know from ianthe's blowup in ntn that john is in active grief. so, now imagine, you just lost every last person you loved, and this sad little girl gets brought to you and she's apparently your long lost totally dead daughter. cool, fine, whatever- you're god, so really death is nothing but some annoying hoops you have to jump through to get what you want. he turns her corpse into a construct, tethers her soul to it, and gives her a bedroom with those glow-in-the-dark ceiling stars and all. luckily there are a lot of newly vacant rooms, haha! and then, as he did with everyone his holy hands have touched, john renames her.
kiriona is pronounced closer to gideon than siri-ona in te reo māori. in typical john fashion, he strips her of her name representing where she is from, blessing her with a new one made in his image. and, once again, he turns her into a tribute for what he lost. g1deon is dead. john honors him by naming his daughter after his best friend, in a dead language, both of which john had a hand in murdering.
she can't be called gideon bc it's a memory of how John failed the person who was most loyal to him. she has to be called something similar as tribute. kiriona isnt his daughter, isn't a person, but instead is a vessel for all of his pain and regret. exactly like the ninth house, kiriona has been transformed into a tomb for her father's grief, and her renaming only cements that.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I was wondering why you pair up Hook and HotRod? It's just such an interesting paring I've never seen before!
Well firstly, I think it'd be really funny and interesting to write if Hot Rod's love life is a bit of a mess. He's hotheaded, naive, very well-meaning, kindhearted, and still trying to figure a lot of shit out. At least that's primarily how I write them, pulling a lot of inspiration from the G1 movie and bits and pieces from other iterations. Basically, Hot Rod in my fan continuity is a spitfire trying to figure a lot out all at once because his life has been uprooted over and over before, and their romantic attraction is all over the place. Hook is... not.
Hook is cold. He's distant. It thinks he knows exactly who it is and sticks rigidly to his routines and self-imposed rules. He keeps almost everyone at arm's length, and even most of those close to him find it prickly and hard to read. It kept his head down to stay out of trouble and sharpens his Hook to frighten off anyone who'd dare drag it into a mess. And Hot Rod is...interesting. Hot Rod is a mess. And being an ice cold, rigid killjoy will make a prickly doctor a tad envious and a lot curious about someone who's still got a fire in their chest.
Hot Rod craves understanding himself. And steadiness and reliability. Chaos is what he knows, and soothing calm always seems just out of their reach. And not that Hook's sort of steadiness is calm and soothing for himself, but Hot Rod is drawn in by it, marvelling at how Hook always seems to be a step ahead of them.
The two's curiosity about each other boils over and they have their little meetings off to the side. I wouldn't really call what they have an especially tender romance. They're like fire and ice finding a bit of solace in feeling less like their usual selves next to each other. Hook likes feeling a bit more impulsive and Hot Rod likes feeling a bit more predictable. It's a change of pace for both of them and a comforting one too. Besides, a good old "I kissed someone from the RIVAL TEAM" story will be fun to tell when they're not stranded on Earth anymore.

So the VA for G3 Clawdeen has confirmed the series won't be back for another season.
I am SO FUCKING MAD RIGHT NOW!! FUCK Nickelodeon! FUCK Paramount! FUCK VIACOM!! And DOUBLE FUCK any Monster High "fan" who is happy about this!
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!
Get your head out of your ass and realize not EVERYTHING is your precious G1!
Also weep for the children who lost something special to them and FOR them!! This version felt like it was doing something IMPORTANT!! It was normalizing so many things and THAT'S what children media SHOULD do! Queeness, neurodivergence, bigotry, understanding all these really important things and doing it with some of the most lovable characters ever!
And it's gone. Why? I'm just calling bigotry on this one. ESPECIALLY given what Nickelodeon did to Transformers: Earthspark which ALSO handled similar themes!
That doesn't feel like a coincidence to me!
I wonder if this is why the G3 webisodes were taken down from the YouTube page?
I just hope Nickelodeon will release the rest of season two AND release it on DVD as well cause I want to complete this generation if nothing else!
Fuck, between this and having COVID again my Sept is already ruined.

Admittedly, I've been feeling terrible lately. I didn't even finish my weekly drawing and broke my now months long streak. I thought I would be able to do it, but my emotions weighted me down too much. I might go back to drawing one art every two weeks.
Anyway, I feel like I should do more fun things. I mean, drawing is fun, and I love creating stories for my OCs, but I do have a lot of other interests. And tho I'm sticking to talking about LEGO today, I want to talk more and get out of my shell. And maybe give you more insight into me as a person.
So today I'm going to talk about my favourite LEGO themes and why I love the series, plus how I personally got i to all of them. It's not a normal review whatsoever, just an excuse to ramble about my interests freely. Just remember this is my experience and my feelings.
(And it's not at all like I'm making this post because I need all of this to prepare for a speaking class and the only way to motivate myself is by making a post about it o _o Come on, I'm killing two birds with one stone here!)
Okay, so, my all-time favourite themes are (in chronological order to when I found them):
1. Bionicle
Honourable mention: Hero Factory
2. Ninjago
3. Legends of Chima
4. Monkie Kid
5. Dreamzzz
1. So. Bionicle. I have a weird history with Bionicle. My dad's friends used to get movies for us, and one day it just happened that my dad's friends gave us a pen drive with Bionicle: Legend Reborn on it. I think I would be around... Seven or eight when I watched it I've seen fans say that it was a pretty weak film, but I didn't know Bionicle back then, and I really enjoyed it! That movie was a soft reboot of the series, and as someone who started their Bionicle obsession with that movie, in my opinion it worked really well as a standalone supposed to capture new audiences. I really loved the sense of mystery that was probably lost on new fans. It wasn't exactly explained what or who Mata Nui was, besides him being a warrior who lost his people. And the ending... I really thought there would be a sequel to it, and was really intrigued by whom the great beings were, and what happened to the world, why Mata Nui knew them, what the giant ahh robots were supposed to do.
Of course, when a few years later in middle school I looked for the sequel, I didn't find it. And to be honest, the ending was disappointing to me. However, there was a whole other storyline in Bionicle to catch up on! And so one faithful summer was spent reading all the comics I could find, reading wiki pages one after another, playing Mata Nui online game obsessively, refusing to use a walkthrough. Believe me when I say I was obsessed!
And then out of nowhere in 2015 g2 came out, and I was stoked since I missed out on practically the whole g1 as it was being made. (I mean, it's understandable, I was born the same year the first Bionicle movie came out.) I mean, can you blame me for being excited? A dead franchise that I just started becoming a devoted fan of is suddenly revived from the grave. I felt like the luckiest person on earth that day. Honestly, g2 was a lot simpler than g1, but I really like it, even if most people said it sucked. Sure, it wasn't exactly like g1, and even I cringed a few times when watching the g2 show, but for what it was, it was cool in my eyes, and loved finding all the g1 references. And there were quite a few of them! The story of g2 was simpler, but for little kids I think it would've been fine. But alas, LEGO did a crap job promoting it, and it died early, with an ending that was so bad even I can't defend it. It just didn't make sense, and it was rushed as hell. But I still wished it would've continued.
I love both generations for different things, and I'm sad I didn't get any g2 sets when they were out (Lewa was my favourite one). But years later I managed to get a promotional anniversary set of Tahu and Takua, and you wouldn't believe my happiness when I was building it. It's strange being a relatively new fan compared to others I see online, but I still remember seeing Bionicle commercials, and even have a very vague memory of seeing a Phantoka commercial on our ancient TV. I mean come on, I was so into it, I even learned the Matoran alphabet! My mom had to listen to my countless rambling, and if I ask her about Bionicle today, she still remembers some answers, that's how much into it I was. Hell, this blog started as a Bionicle blog before I moved fully to Monkie Kid content.
Okay, this Bionicle ramble is getting a tad long, so I'll wrap this up. Would I recommend Bionicle to anyone? Well... Not really, unless you like long lore researching adventures. The story is so convoluted, with many sides stories, and it went on for so many years, that despite my obsession I still probably missed like, 40% of the lore. G1 at least, wouldn't vibe with casual audience probably. G2 might be easier on the brain, despite it having some deeper lore too. Plus, there's the cultural appropriation issue, that I'm not qualified to talk about, but others already made pages long blogs and articles about. Plus the weird gender situation. But, it's still a good story in my eyes, despite its many faults. But that's just me, and if you didn't catch on yet, I'm already deep in this hole and there's no getting out of here now.
Honourable mention: This brings us to Hero Factory. I watched the first few episodes at around the same time as the first Bionicle movie. Came from the same source as before. I think it deserves a mention, because I still loved it, and did some lore digging, but I wasn't as obsessed with it as the other positions on the list. I didn't like the later stuff as much, tho some concepts were really cool too. But the story of the first episodes was really well done, and worked great as a movie. The fights were tense, and when watching it for the first time, I couldn't really know if the characters would be okay. Honestly, it got me really excited and invested. A factory of heroes is a unique concept, and I always found it intriguing how they made the robot society work. But, I don't think it needed more time than it needed, unlike Bionicle, where I didn't like the ending of either generation. I think it wrapped things up quite well with the first episodes, and the later ones just feel like cool side stories, and it works in my opinion.
This one I would definitely recommend, because I feel like it's underrated, and it's not long. Like I said, the version I got was just a one movie like compilation. I checked and there's just 11 episodes. It would probably take 1–2 hours to watch it, not counting the later movies and all.
2. Next one is Ninjago! I started watching it almost from the start. I must have been around ten or so... The episodes aired on TV, so I had easy access to it! I almost never missed an episode, and watched even the reruns. And believe me, I was hypnotised when watching it. Tho, starting from rebooted I watched the episodes online, first in my native language, then in English since I started getting too impatient to wait. This was my first obsession. For the longest time, when people asked me what I wanted to do, I said I wanted to be a ninja. One of my oldest OCs is Mika, and she grew up with me. Whenever a new season was to come, I would design a new suit for her. I have a whole dedicated blog to her, I wonder if you all can find it lol. Anyway, for a kid's show, the first seasons were really well written, and the show could be dark when it wanted, but it didn't lack jokes, and most were very funny. And honestly, Ninjago had a really big impact on my life. It taught me not to give up, and it made me want to make the world a better place. Grade school was a horrible time for me, and Ninjago was like my escape. Tho, I might have daydreamed about it too much at one point...
I started distancing myself from Ninjago around hands of time. I didn't watch the show as regularly, catching up on seasons long after they aired. I think that's also where the writing quality started dropping… I just didn't like it as much any more. But it should've been expected with a series that went on for so long. I'm not one of the people who think old Ninjago was better than anything. It wasn't perfect at all. But I didn't like the short format of newer seasons. But then secrets of forbidden spinjitzu dropped, and i as a person started getting better too, so I went back to Ninjago, and while it wasn't still the best and people had a lot of issues I loved those few next seasons. I mean, they somehow hit right into my interests with those seasons. First the adventure movies like atmosphere with the Egyptian like tomb, then they get sucked into a video game, then the very DnD like feeling Shintaro. It was right up my alley. My love for Ninjago was back in full force by then. So you can imagine how sad I was when the word that Ninjago was ending started going around. The series has been with me for half my life. My friends even knew how much I liked it, my best IRL friend even bought me a Ninjago set for Christmas one time. But you know, I thought it was probably Ninjago's time. Nothing can last forever after all, and it had a very good run. Why not end it when the story was still quite alright? And then… Crystallized happened. I didn't watch Crystallized. I heard the spoilers, and I wasn't… thrilled. Especially with Harumi. And people hated that season. It left a bitter taste in my mouth. It didn't feel like a send-off Ninjago deserved.
So you can imagine how damn happy I was about Dragon Rising! And surprise, it's the best Ninjago has been in a while! I absolutely loved the first season. The new characters are wonderful, and that change was certainly what Ninjago needed. And the fact that it's merged with one of other of my beloved LEGO series only makes it better. And that's probably my cue to move to it hehe
So, would I recommend Ninjago? Yeah. Its story is easy to follow, you just need to watch the show. If you're ready to watch sixteen+ seasons that it! Even the worse seasons have some value to them I'd argue. But I may be biased with how close to my heart that series is.
3. Yeah boy, Legends of Chima! I started watching Chima around the same time I started watching Ninjago, and I was equally hooked. And yes, my mom remembers this one as well, I watched it every time it was on too. Actually, I think the first fanfiction I've ever written was about Chima. With a pencil on paper. I think that, while the other series captivated me because of magic or the setting or the action, in Chima it was the characters and their dynamics mostly, despite there being plenty of magic powers and action too, plus a unique setting. The main characters all have distinct personalities, and it's fun to see how their personalities clash or work together. I think it's cool because the conflict between lions and crocodiles takes the main stage in the first season. Later seasons are great too, and they shake things up to make things interesting quite well. The lore isn't as broad as in other series, but it's pretty cool and interesting either way. There were some unique concepts there. I can't explain my love for this theme as well as with other series, because I don't think there was anything big that made me like it. It's just a cool show. I think what there was has been satisfying, tho young me was really sad and angry it ended anyway. But it's great for what it was. But I can't say I'm not happy that Chima is now merged with Ninjago, and it works so well together, and I absolutely love Lord Ras.
I would absolutely recommend it. It's a fun show, and only three seasons long. It can be both fun and serious, and I definitely had a blast watching it.
4. Now one of my newer obsessions! Monkie Kid! I watched the pilot in Chinese when it came out, then I promptly forgot about the series and binge-watched it all when season 3 came out. I was reading about Journey to the West long before the series was announced, since I have a liking for old stories and legends and myths and stuff. And Asian cultures fascinate me. I blame Ninjago with its Japanese influence and all the martial arts movies that were on the TV all the time. Plus Mulan and Kung Fu Panda. Anyway, I can't say much about how accurate it is or anything since I'm not Chinese, but I think the show is great. I noticed a lot of references to Journey To The West. No shocker here, it's inspired by it. But being in this fandom made me learn a lot of new things about China, tho I still have a bunch of things to learn. I'm no expert yet. Tho, I try my best to be respectful.
Umm... Like I said, not much to say about how accurate the story is. But I really liked Journey to the West, so naturally I like Monkie Kid too. Plus, MK i really relatable to me. I feel like my personality is really similar to his, tho I'm more introverted. For some reason, I relate to this portrayal of Macaque and Wukong as well.
I dare to say that from all the series so far, I find this one to be the most well written. I just find the writing to be the most impactful. Plus, the artstyle is very different from other LEGO shows. Action scenes are really fun. The artstyle definitely works in its favour. And yeah, I would recommend this show 100%.
5. And finally, the newest addition to the LEGO series, Dreamzzz! The show is really new and just starting, but I love the concept and the writing! Plus again, I really relate to Mateo. The characters feel like real people you would meet, and how they interact feels realistic. And I found myself liking even the characters that annoyed me, because their personalities were the realistic type of annoying, one that you might find out in the wild. And the concept of a dream world just really speaks to me. And it gives the creators a lot of creative freedom. All wacky things can happen in a dream after all. One thing I didn't expect in the show was the secret agency, and I think it's a clever addition to the story.
I would recommend this series. I hope it'll have a bright future, and that the writing will stay this good.
Well, time to wrap all of this up. Whoever suffered through this whole ramble deserves a juice and a cookie 🍪🧃 For a few finishing thoughts... I noticed a lot of the series I like blend magic powers and technology together. I just thought it's interesting. And I wanted to mention that the songs for Bionicle, Ninjago and Chima absolutely slap. I used to listen to them on repeat all the time lol Even my mom really enjoyed those songs
Yeah, I don't know what this post was for, I just felt like writing all that :v

Earthspark trailer spoilers!

.
Personally I'm thrilled we're getting antagonistic Decepticons because the tension between them and Megatron never got resolved. So it would be very weird if the show was suddenly like "Yay! We fought together once (to avoid mutual destruction) and we are now best friends :) :) :)".
I can see why Starscream being an antagonist is surprising to some people. IMO they only put the Starscream-Hashtag episode in Season 1 because they weren't sure if they would get greenlit for Season 2 and Starscream's a fan favorite. But also imo . . . they should have scrapped that episode; it was trying to cram too much into 22 minutes. (Megatron's adverserial relationship with Starscream, Starscream's first proper introduction, Starscream's PTSD, Starscream being shitty towards the other Seekers (but not shitty enough imo sorry), Starscream's redemption). I understand the personalities of G1 Starscream, Armada Starscream, TFP, Cyberverse, TFA, but I still don't know what ES Starscream is like, not really.
Anyway, Starscream is my second favorite Transformer (right after Knock Out) and personally I love to see him cause trouble. I hope he's an antagonist for most of the season, or at least for a good long arc.

LINK TO VIDEO INTERVIEW
Former member of the British boy band One Direction, Louis Tomlinson will perform, in May, three shows in Brazil. It will be the third time that the musician will perform in the country, an experience that, according to him, is always chaotic - and "in the best possible sense". This is what the singer said to g1, in an interview held at Allianz Parque, where he will play in São Paulo, on May 11.
The shows are from the "Faith in the Future" tour, in which Louis returns to his latest album, released in 2022. The setlist also involves songs from the album "Walls" and, of course, One Direction hits.
Fever among children and adolescents in the 2010s, the pop group was formed from the TV show "The X Factor" and lasted six years, breaking up in 2016. Since then, the musicians have followed a solo career. A fact that, in Louis' eyes, is inevitably competitive.
"Your only reference is to compare yourself with the other members," said the Englishman. "You start to think, 'If they're getting this, why am I not getting it?'"
On Spotify, the number of monthly listeners among artists differs a lot. The most popular star of the divorced boy band, Harry Styles has about 58.2 million. Next are Zayn Malik (27.3 million), Niall Horan (17.3 million), Liam Payne (5.7 million) and Louis (2.9 million).
But if success meters like this were once a burden for the musician, today they are no longer, according to him, who also made a point of reiterating that he has always been proud of his friends.
In the interview, the musician also commented on subjects such as the conspiracy theories that describe him as a partner of Styles, the changes of concept between his albums, a Brazilian remix of his "Kill My Mind" - from the funkeiro FP of Trem Bala -, and his interest in fashion
g1 - What is the main difference between the Louis Tomlinson of the X Factor, 2010 and the Louis Tomlinson of today?
Louis Tomlinson - There is a lot of naivete in the boy who appeared in the X Factor. I really didn't know what I was getting into. I didn't know how that would put me sitting here. I definitely had no idea what I was acquiring.
I think I feel much more fulfilled. More confident. It took me a while to have enough courage to say: 'I'm creative, I'm a singer, I'm a composer
Now, I'm just internalizing all these feelings. When you grow up in a place like Doncaster, where I grew up, it takes a while to believe in all these things. Because you only watched it from afar, on TV or on the radio. So, when you become one of these people, there is a whole process until you believe and understand everything.
g1 - And what is the greatest similarity?
Louis Tomlinson - Probably my appearance (laughs). Well, I hope my fans don't correct me here. I like to think that I've always had a very lovely relationship with them. I think that's the only constant thing.
g1 - Do you know any Brazilian singer or band?
Louis Tomlinson - We were talking today about Anitta. And hm... Fresh? Fre? Fresno? I'm learning. I hope [the confusion with the band's name] didn't sound disrespectful, it wasn't my intention.
Do you have any recommendations for me? I got some tips today. What do you have for me?
g1 - There is a Brazilian musician called FP do Trem Bala. He made a remix of 'Kill My Mind'...
Louis Tomlinson - That's cool! So far, you were the one who made the best recommendation. Definitely.
g1 - Can I show you?
Louis Tomlinson - Of course!
youtube
g1 - What's up? Did you like it? Is there anything you would like to say to the FP of the Bullet Train?
Louis Tomlinson - Yes, it's a vibe. Fun. Very fun. Thank you for making a remix of the song.
g1 - This is your third time in Brazil. What comes to your mind when you hear things like 'doing a show in Brazil', 'Brazilian tour', or simply 'Brazilian fans'?
Louis Tomlinson - Chaos. And in the best possible sense. I totally love it.
Live experiences are defined by the most chaotic moments. And coming here and always feeling this energy is as if from the first drum beat, the fans were already there. It's a really triumphant feeling.
g1 - In musical terms, how was the experience of creating 'Faith in the Future' compared to 'Walls'?
Louis Tomlinson - I felt much more fulfilled, confident. I had more understanding of what I wanted to do and how to do it.
[On the first album], there was the factor that I left One Direction. It was as if my head was a mess and there was so much to think about... It didn't have a clear direction. I had to go through the experimentation phase to, in fact, understand who I am as an artist. That took time.
Throughout my creation of 'Walls', this was happening, but I was in a clearer, more concise place going to 'Faith in the Future'. And I think that made [the second] album better.
g1 - Recently, you created 28 Clothing, a fashion brand. What is your relationship with this sector?
Louis Tomlinson - I've always had a very funny relationship with fashion. Without a doubt, I'm interested in clothes, I've always been. Since I was young. But there is a level of haute couture that goes far beyond my understanding.
You know, I like to dress well. The brand is something I've always wanted to do. It is also intertwined with one of my [greatest] passions, football.
Football and fashion have been connected since the game was a game. People's fashion in the stands and everything else...
I think it's a very interesting thing and, for sure, a culture in which I was already inserted when I was younger. So, the brand helps me tell my story.
g1 - You once mentioned that you felt a little uncomfortable and more competitive at the beginning of your solo career. You said you were a little upset because you kept comparing your level of success with that of the other members of One Direction. Do you still feel that way?
Louis Tomlinson - No, I don't feel like it. Really. But I think that anyone - and obviously, there won't be many people who can identify with it - but anyone who has gone through a similar situation...
Being in a band and leaving on your own will always make your only reference be to compare yourself with other members. That's literally all you have.
I think it's a matter of maturity, actually. It took me a long time to look at it for what it was. Because that's where petulance begins. You start to think: 'If they're getting this, why can't I do it?'. And that becomes a little toxic.
Unfortunately, this is the nature of the music industry. It is naturally competitive. We are all competing for spots.
But now I see it in a very different way. And as I said, this requires maturity. I also needed to succeed on my own to be able to get through this. To overcome this.
Now, this comes back as I feel a confidence in saying these things.
Oh, and just to reiterate, because it's important: while I felt competitive, or more competitive than I am today, it wasn't like I wasn't immensely proud of everything the boys were doing.
It was more about reflecting on my own situation. Just about thinking: 'Oh, I wish I had a little of that'.
Now, I feel in a very, very, different place. And it's a nicer thing to feel, because being very competitive isn’t always the nicest feeling.
g1 - I imagine you hear questions like this all the time, right? Does it bother you?
Louis Tomlinson - Yes, it's okay. As I mentioned before, I understand the obvious public interest in One Direction. That's obvious. And you know, I appreciate that these things are interesting. I suppose [that they are].
g1 - Louis, many fans believe in the conspiracy theory that you’re dating Harry Styles, even though you describe this story as ridiculous. Why is this conspiracy so famous?
Louis Tomlinson - What I realized a few years ago is that there is nothing I can say, there is nothing I can do to stop those who believe in this conspiracy. They are so connected with what they believe they will not see the truth for what it actually is. I'm sure many people look and find all these little conspiracies that happen in life interesting.
I would be lying if I said it doesn't annoy me a little, but it's the nature of the work.
There are times when it gets very personal. I have my son, Freddie. He's the most important person in my life. And occasionally, [these theories] end up addressing things that are kind of unfair.
That's what we have now. There's nothing I can do about it. Nothing I can say to stop people from inventing what they want to invent. So, so be it.
g1 - Finally, what is your favorite song at the moment and why?
Louis Tomlinson - My favorite album is Paolo Nutini's last. It's great, amazing. He's an amazing singer, maybe he's my favorite singer. It's indeed an inspiring album.
And favorite music... I can't remember the name, but it's from The Libertines, a band I've liked since I was young.

How do you think the Autobots and Decepticons (TFA, TFP and ES) would react if they met the Unicron (G1), a planet the size of Cybertron, who could also transform into robot mode and tried to destroy Cybertron with his bare hands (literally speaking)
Tumblr media
Hi thank you for the ask! ( May I say that this is an intriguing ask. it's super interesting thank you! I haven gotten very far in Earthspark so I'll only do Optimus and Megatron, I hope that's okay)
Tfa Megatron: Tfa Megatron would attempt to keep his cool in order to gather information about who and what Unicron is. secretly he'd be a little unnerved at the thought of Cybertronian God being real. he would prefer to stay on Unicron's good side so long as he is a threat.
Tfa Blitzwing: Blitzwing would be freaking out at just how crazy it is that a Cybertronian God is real and that he is huge. he's not a fan of Unicron's tendency to consume worlds, however he keeps that little tidbit to himself.
Tfa Lugnut: Lugnut under the orders of Tfa Megatron would remain silent in Unicron's presence because Megatron doesn't think Lugnut would be able to not say anything that could get himself offlined.
Tfa Optimus Prime: The Young Prime doesn't know how to react to Unicron's presence and just does his best to cope he does what ever he can to keep his team safe.
Tfa Ratchet: Tfa Ratchet is extremely unhappy with Unicron's presence and has decide to help Optimus keep his team safe. He wouldn't want to talk to Unicron but he makes sure to keep Bumblebee from saying something inappropriate.
Tfa Bulkhead: Bulkhead helps Ratchet by distracting Bumblebee when ever he can and he makes sure Bumblebee understands how much danger they are in.
Tfa Bumblebee: He's Not allowed to interact with Unicron unless Ratchet or Bulkhead are present. he has a lot of questions for Unicron and really wants them to be answered.
Tfa Prowl: He snuck off to help find ways to send Unicron back to his original universe. Prowl has been gathering information on Unicron and reporting back to those attempting to neutralize Unicron and send him home.
Tfp Megatron: Post TFP Megatron would be the first to nope out of the situation. he was already under the control of one Unicron he does not need to make it two. he would do his best to avoid any and all interaction with G1 Unicron.
Tfp Starscream: Starscream would immediately attempt to get in Unicron's good graces not really knowing that Unicron doesn't have any. he's the most likely to get himself in to trouble involving Unicron.
Tfp Knockout: Knockout would be secretly insulting Unicron's looks in his head but outwardly he would do his best not to gain Unicron's attention by any means necessary.
Tfp Breakdown: Breakdown would do his best to follow Knockouts lead because he trusts Knockout to know what he's doing.
Tfp Soundwave: He is trying to find a way to send Unicron back to where ever he came from without getting caught. Soundwave wants nothing to to with this mess.
Tfp Optimus Prime: After seeing Unicron Optimus decided that he'll help soundwave with his plan and makes sure that whenever needed Unicron is distracted.
Tfp Ratchet: Ratchet decided to follow Megatrons lead for once and nope out of the situation taking the other three with him because he knows their impulses could get them offlined.
Tfp Bumblebee: Never gets the chance to interact with Unicron Because of Tfp Ratchet. he would probably freak out if he does met Unicron
Tfp Bulkhead: The only one not to have a big problem with Ratchet keeping them (him and the other two) away from the situation. the only thing he doesn't like is that Tfp Optimus is left alone with soundwave to deal with the situation.
Tfp Arcee: Doesn't like the fact that Ratchet dragged her away from the very dangerous situation leaving Optimus to handle it him self. She'd have a few choice words for Unicron if she met him though.
ES Megatron: ES Megs want to immediately do whatever it takes to get Unicron away from earth no matter what it takes. He's freaking out a little because Unicron could offline them all if he really wanted to.
ES Optimus Prime: ES Prime does his best to remain calm and attempt to help Megatron not freak out. he would do his best to keep everyone safe until they can find a way to get to proper safety

Monster High Reboot Movie Antagonist Appreciation Post ❤️
I’m not a big fan of either reboot (for different reasons I will not get into) but the movie antagonists always stood out as strong and interesting to me. This is my opinion; feel free to disagree.
Moanica D’Kay🪱 stands out in her movies; her evil intentions and antagonistic demeanor really make her a memorable threat, especially in contrast to the more kiddy world of G2. She commands an army of zombie boys (Zomboys) and is strong leader. Her main goal is to terrorize mankind as vengeance for humans forcing monsters to live in hiding. Moanica has been hurt so much in the past that she wants others to feel the pain she has. She doesn’t want peace; she wants havoc and destruction. Because of this, Moanica doesn’t understand why Draculaura would rather educate and befriend the humans rather than harm them. She is overall pretty f*cked up, even compared to G1 villains, and that’s what makes her so interesting.
Some other interesting facts about Moanica is that her favorite food is vermicelli pasta; she finds it “a scream that the name means “little worms”. She is from South America, more specifically Peru 🇵🇪. Moanica D’Kay is the last doll designed Garrett Sanders, Monster High’s creator.
Mr. Komos 👔 (legal name Eddy Hyde Jr.) is a teacher who serves as the twist antagonist of the first G3 live action movie. He seeks revenge against the monsters of Monster High for exiling, discriminated against, and expelling his father, Eddy Hyde, for being half human. This discrimination by the school led to his father being killed. Eddy teaches anti human sentiment in his class, despite his heritage (True Monster Heart). The movie ends with him being turned to stone by Clawdeen. What interests me about Komos is that the movie tries to sell us on him being a big bad villain. I could never really see his motivations as evil? He is a pretty regular guy. Taking his anger on our main characters was the most cruel thing he did; besides that, he seems more justified than not? If an institution killed my father and spread lies about people like him, I would be pissed too. The fact that Komos wasn't redeemed, even though it would have been so simple as an exchange of apologies, confuses me. He could have been a great resource in making sure half humans feel welcome at Monster High. It would have been such a more satisfying conclusion than literally killing him??
Eddy/Mr. Komos is a intriguing character who could have been so much better if given better writing :(
Toralei Stripe😼 is a foil for Clawdeen and the second G3 movie's secondary antagonist (The main antagonists/villains of the movie, the witches, sucked). She is loyal to monster kind, has a grudge against humans and half humans like Clawdeen, and is Clawdeen's election rival. She is pretty toned down and likable here compared to her (in my opinion more annoying) G3 animated counterpart. Toralei is wrong for her prejudice of Clawdeen yet very sympathetic in her motivations to keep monsters/students safe from human witches. She seems realistic as a character and has a natural charisma to her. A pleasant surprise from a not so good movie.
The writers sometimes miss the mark with her (mischaracterize her very valid concerns about witchcraft as bigoted) but I hope that she continues to be present in the inevitable Monster High movies to come.

One thing I will never understand about people who say they grew up with the OG MH g1 and loved it soooo much is how little they took away from it. And I don't just mean the message of being yourself and loving your freaky flaws and being kind to everyone else (Extreme side eye to everyone who called g3 Drac obese, was racist about g3 Lagoona, and is bitching that Catty is fat now). But like, as someone who grew up with g1, and we're talking, knew these dolls existed before they hit shelves (R.I.P. EverythingGirl.com), a huge thing I and a ton of the other weird freaky girls of the era, both in the targeted age range and older collectors wished would happened was that Mattel would go more into the monstrous sides/aspects of the characters. A little more dark humor in the webisodes or something akin to really, how g3 is now.
Like, I know nostalgia blinds people rose tinted glasses blah blah whatever but that is wild to me that some of the people now (Yeah, ik they prob don't watch any of g3 but still), don't like that aspect? Especially with Lagoona??? I'm sorry but even when I was like, 12 I thought Lagoona would be the perfect character to have as she is now. She's a sea monster so that's perfect when it comes to leaning into more of her monstrous attributes like scales and rows of sharp teeth, as well as like, the fact that while she is a main character, she isn't one of the main three, so they could let a lil more slide. Like in the live action when she was like "Do you want me to eat him?" And started roaring? Yes!!!! That is what I'm here for!!! The comments she's made in g3? Her mannerisms? Her always readiness to eat someone or fuck shit up? Yes!!!!! That's my girl!!!!!
No disrespect to g1 Lagoona but she was literally just the Australian surfer girl trope for the most part, I'm sorry. Like, she had cute dolls and was an alright character, but she came off a bit more bland.
(Then again I'm always a sucker for the scary monster girl that will eat you and cause terror and destruction but also turns out to be a secret hopeless romantic trope. Like, literally me fr. So I'm a bit biased.)
But Lagoona aside, regardless we have an series now where it actually talks about monster lore and we get slightly darker humor and there is an episode where Draculaura literally decomposes and this is the one people hate??? Do y'all not remember being weird 12 year old girls and wishing Mattel would have the balls to do this??? Couldn't be me.
(Also yeah there is something to be said about how shitty some of the g1 fans have been but I'll say that later.)

Louis Tomlinson says he has stopped comparing his fame to that of the other One Direction musicians
In an interview with g1, the musician comments on career changes, competitiveness in the music industry and the Brazilian remix that transforms his 'Kill My Mind' into funk.
Former member of the British boy band One Direction, Louis Tomlinson will perform three shows in Brazil in May . It will be the third time that the musician performs in the country, an experience that, according to him, is always chaotic — and "in the best possible sense". This is what the singer told g1 , in an interview held at Allianz Parque, where he will play in São Paulo, on May 11th .
The shows are from the "Faith in the Future" tour, in which Louis focuses on his latest album, released in 2022. The setlist also includes songs from the album "Walls" and, of course, hits from One Direction.
A craze among children and teenagers in the 2010s, the pop group was formed from the TV show "The X Factor" and lasted six years, disbanding in 2016. Since then, the musicians have pursued solo careers. A fact that, in Louis' eyes, is inevitably competitive.
“Your only frame of reference is to compare yourself to the other members,” said the Englishman. "You start to think, 'If they're getting it, why am I not getting it?'"
On Spotify, the number of monthly listeners between artists differs greatly. Divorced boy band's most popular star, Harry Styles has around 58.2 million. Next are Zayn Malik (27.3 million), Niall Horan (17.3 million), Liam Payne (5.7 million) and Louis (2.9 million).
But if success metrics like this were once a burden for the musician, today they are no longer, according to him, who also made a point of reiterating that he was always proud of his friends.
FULL INTERVIEW UNDER CUT:
g1 - What is the main difference between Louis Tomlinson from X Factor, in 2010, and Louis Tomlinson today?
Louis Tomlinson - There is a lot of naivety in the boy who appeared on the X Factor. I really didn't know what I was getting myself into. I didn't know how that would land me sitting here. I definitely had no idea what I was getting. I think I feel much more fulfilled. More confident. It took me a while to have enough courage to say: 'I'm creative, I'm a singer, I'm a songwriter'. Do you have any recommendations for me? I picked up some tips today. What do you have for me?
g1 - There is a Brazilian musician called FP from Trem Bala. He did a remix of 'Kill My Mind'...
Louis Tomlinson - How cool! So far, you have made the best recommendation. Definitely.
g1 - Can I show you?
Louis Tomlinson - Of course!
g1 - What's up? Did you like it? Is there anything you would like to say to FP do Trem Bala?
Louis Tomlinson - Yes, it's a good vibe . Fun. Very fun. Thanks for doing a remix of the song.

I remember you saying earlier (on twitter, not here) that the autobots were kind of boring, since they only fit into a few archetypes. I’ve kind of been thinking about that, and I thought they may also have been boring because of another thing: these few personality types means no one really bounces off eachother, and it doesn’t lead up to any interesting conflict.
This may only apply to G1,or I may just be talking nonsense, but compare them to the decepticons. The decepticons have a lot of different personalities , so they contrast against eachother and a lot of the times, disagree with eachother, creating conflict. However, with the autobots, the similar personality problem can come when no sort of conflict, even ones between certain characters, exists, and everyone has no sort of unique opinions towards eachother. And conflict, you know, makes up a lot for a story and characters.
A lot of people don’t care much about the autobot moments a lot, however you don’t really need to scour the internet to see videos and people posting about Megatron arguing with Starscream or skywarp getting clowned by rumble and frenzy, if you know what I mean.
hey!! wow, it is always surprising when people remember stuff I said lol
I’m admittedly just not really a big autobot fan (if I get the opportunity to write the autobots they’d be very messy) but I totally agree with you here—people seem to like the autobots, conceptually, for very different reasons than people like the Decepticons, and it factors into an interesting dichotomy between how different people view characters as a literary device.
while it isn’t a rule by any means, I’ve noticed there are a lot of people who love certain autobots, but specifically like them in isolation. the idea of the character is more important than anything they’ve actually done. pretty much every autobot that exists has a fan, but they could have little, if any, screen presence. this isn’t bad, of course! in many cases, it’s extremely novel and sweet. that being said, I’ve noticed that even the most prominent autobots have this happen—Optimus Prime is more of a symbol than a character, and that separation is a source of comfort.
This also happens with Decepticons, but I’d argue it’s to a lesser extent? They tend to have much more defined and consistent character relationships, arcs, and themes. The decepticons who are viewed in isolation most frequently would probably be Soundwave and Autobot Megatron, which is interesting (I am honestly not a fan of the modern characterizations of either of these, but I totally understand why people are!), in that their interactions, story purposes, and even personalities are flattened to separate them from the underlying narrative. People love the idea of Soundwave, but fail to give it a personality.
Once again, I don’t think any of this is bad! Moreover, isolating characters from the existing narrative and putting them in different places according to where they might better suit a story is a very good thing, actually. I’ve never agreed with the pushback for iterative/adaptive media altering existing characters’ traits or personalities to suit their thematic purpose, because I think it takes away the agency and undermines the vision of the artist. obviously you can dislike certain characterizations (I do that often) but blaming a deviation from the norm is extremely reductive. Trying to stick to an idealized checklist of how a character ought to act instead of recognizing them as a reactive, dynamic story device is how you end up with flat, unchanging characters and a boring story.
To tie that back to what I like about the decepticons, I think the fact that they are so messy is their strength—they aren’t all just different skins on the same archetype, they’re unique thematic elements which adapt and serve a function in the story. You can make them physically and even archetypally unrecognizable, but as long as you utilize them as elements in the story and afford them the conflict and complexity they deserve, it’s much more difficult to go wrong.
thanks for reading, and thank you for the question!! I hope this all makes sense—I wiped myself out last night and I’m still recovering, so I apologize if this was incoherent lol

monster highs gen 3 is wrongfully slandered
for SOO many reasons!!! its been like, what, 2 years??? im still seeing people on tiktok that whine about the reboot...
anyway heres a teeny rant on g3 discourse ^_^
first of all, the target audience has changed completely! gen1 was designed for tweens/teens while gen3 is more for younger kids. i dont see a problem with this!
monster highs message has always been about acceptance and diversity. literally a perfect lesson for little kids! this is why the new audience was the same kids who, when presented the choice by mattel, felt pink lagoona was better-looking than blue. and of course theyd listen to their demographic!
(side note: the "her name is lagoona BLUE" argument is the most ridiculous excuse ive ever heard. shes named after the BLUE LAGOON, not her skin color!!)
ill go on tiktok and see the most ridiculous slideshows where its g3 frankie going "im nonbinary" and g1 frankie on the next slide saying "but im a girl...." are you kidding me?? how could you be so insensitive??
"oh theyre completely changing the characters!!!!" and yet you dont understand why they make these changes...... the reboot is to make monster high an environment with more positive diversity in all aspects.
on the topic of the show, i have not seen it... but from others opinions on it, it seems pretty solid!
but i also HATE the cankle complaints.... like im not a fan of the show's artstyle either but its really not that big a deal as long as the target audience of little kids enjoy watching!
one thing i wont defend are some of these outfits though..... i have a mini collection of g3 lagoona dolls going but i am NOT a fan of any clawdeen outfits so far T_T;
PLEEEAASEE feel free to share your thoughts!!! <3 hope the rant made sense lolz
