Thinking about the song "Ship in Port" by Radical Face and clones
Thinking about the line "Farewell to the chains we were born into" and what that can mean for the clones
Thinking about how "But I have always stayed in place/Under that old illusion that it's safe" could equally describe Hunter, Echo, and (s1+2) Crosshair's complete opposite approaches to the Empire and post-war life.
The way Crosshair clings to his identity as a soldier of the Empire
And Echo as a soldier of the Republic
But Hunter puts his identity as a soldier behind him
Crosshair fights for the Empire to gain purpose
Echo fights against the Empire to save his brothers
And Hunter decides the Empire is too strong to even try to oppose
"A ship in port is a safer one"
"but it's not the reason it was made"
"So forgive me if I wander off"
"And forgive me more if I just stay"
Thinking about what The Bad Batch could have been if it had more fully explored the differences between those ideologies
(Thinking about what The Bad Batch could have been if it had dedicated more screen time to the 'reg' clones within the Empire and the underground network's fight to free them , instead of just sidelining Echo and Rex for a hypothetical clone rebellion show we might never get)

don’t get me wrong- every single season of dimension 20 has compelling characters that i have borderline unhealthy attachments to…
however, there’s something purely iconic about the fantasy high characters that i fear will simply never be matched.
i mean, we got kristen applebees!! we got gorgug thistlespring!!! we got adaine abernandt!! we got fabian seacaster!! we got riz gukgak!!! we got fig faeth!! what a fucking lineup.
and the npcs???? ayda aguefort, sandra-lynn, jawbone, gilear, sklonda, garthy o’brien, the cubbys, tracker, cathilda, baby, the hangman, bill seacaster, aelwyn, i could go on forever!!! everyone is so iconic in these seasons!!!
literally nobody is doing it like them!!!! and i cant believe they’re actually coming back to us on january 10th!!!

thinking about the dark side of cesare fanning the flames-- or at the very least just not doing anything to stop them-- of the unholy love/desire he and lucrezia felt for each other when he just playfully chased her around the garden after discovering she was watching him fuck another woman, or when he planted the idea that he'd be the only one to care for her heart, or when he implied the love between them was comparable to the love of God, calling it "as all-consuming and pure as the love of God"....an idea she later reflects in season 3 when she says "one touch of your hand and God comes rushing back" (also in the same scene "whatever it is, it overwhelms".) like, yes, okay I do believe lucrezia is probably the one that shifted their relationship into sexual terrority (not on purpose though!!), but cesare is older by a few years. he would've understood it to be wrong before she did, and he could've sat her down at any point in season 1 or 2 and told her "hey, this isn't how brothers and sisters are supposed to feel about each other. we can't lean into whatever this is, okay?" and then made an actual effort to let her go instead of just half-assing it before then immediately beginning the build up of the already thick sexual tension between them until it was unbearable and she was left thinking her husband didn't care about her because he wouldn't sleep with her, so she climbed into cesare's bed and convinced him they should just get it on because no one else could understand them and people already it whisper about them anyway, so "why deny ourselves the pleasure?" very sick and twisted of him. I kinda hate him for it actually. because if he hadn't gone and created this "ideal lover" in lucrezia's head that only he could fit the mold of, she might've found actual happiness with someone else!! 😡 😡

Boulder and heatwave are often mistaken for parent friends but they really aren't.
i mean heatwave is a great leader for sure but he's kind of a fucking idiot sometimes. he gives great advice and never takes his own. he's terrible with authority figures. he can't stand people. he likes violence. heatwave is an older sister friend. he'd egg someone's house. he'd spread rumors about someone mean to his team. he'd lie to people's faces.
boulder is super kind but he's also kind of a fucking idiot. just in a different way. he's very non confrontational. he gets way too invested in things very quickly. he's terrible at explaining things. he loves taking care of others and sucks at being in charge. boulder is like a babysitter friend. he'd sit with crying teammates (and anyone else). he'd give the team lessons on how to be nicer. he'd be the bigger person in an argument.
how do i know this? simple. i am literally these two people at any given moment. and my word is gospel here. also c'mon boulder is good with kids but not at being like permanently in charge, and heatwave is also good with kids but way too headstrong to be a mom friend (or dad friend).

principal difference between hellblazer/nbc constantine and 2005 keanu constantine imo, besides keanu constantine being american, is their attitudes toward food.
hellblazer/nbc constantine: pub food and hearty shit, meat and potatoes and stews and fish. appreciates a good meal, the effort/time it takes to cook it, and the social rituals that revolve around it. also has a taste for the finer things in life and will scam his way into high-end restaurants to fuck around and embarrass everyone there while eating goooood
keanu constantine: runs on dunkin, lox bagels, and not much else. cannot keep things in his fridge or they will rot before he remembers to eat them. obliterates a mcdonalds hash brown in a single bite
