And, because I am normal and don't think about these guys for hours every day, here's some backstory:

When Cross first joined, Killer actually took to him pretty quickly (Dust and Horror did not get warm welcomes). Which is to say he immediately started flocking to Cross to annoy him and compete with him on missions. Cross didn't have the benefit of knowing Killer already to see these were affectionate annoyances, so to him Killer was just some guy who had a problem and wouldn't leave him alone.

During that mission, Nightmare was calling a retreat when he put a hand to his chest and realised the heart locket was gone. Killer saw him looking all around frantically and had a good idea what was lost, since it was the one thing Cross would absolutely not part with since he joined. So, Killer ran back out towards the stars to look for it, because why learn self preservation now. It was the first thing to convince Cross that Killer actually was being (relatively) friendly, despite all the annoyances.

I have a bookstagram, and I recently followed someone because they posted about the overconsumption issue that most bookish social media seems to have. Today, though, they posted another controversial "opinion": that listening to audiobooks isn't reading, and people who claim to have read a bunch of books that they listened to as audiobooks are lying and/or deluded. Listening to audiobooks, she said, is just consuming books.

I disagreed in a fairly politely worded reply, and I intend to unfollow/block, because I find it unlikely this person will change their mind, especially since I'm far from the only person to point out that this is exclusionary and ableist. But this is tumblr/my house, and now I'm going to be as blunt as I want to be.

I'm a librarian and archivist. So much of the work I and others in my field do focuses on making books and reading more accessible and less exclusionary. It is, in fact, incredibly ableist to negate how important audiobooks are for people who have certain disabilities or challenges, and I would in no universe say they aren’t reading. For that matter, a busy person who only has time for audiobooks and for people who just prefer them--it still counts, as far as I'm concerned.

See, there's a difference between an audiobook and a podcast or long song or radio program. An audiobook is still a book--it was written with a particular narrative structure, and the author plays a defined but limited role (once the book is written, it's written; the author isn't tuning in next episode with comments and corrections based on what listeners said). An audiobook is a book, ergo, listening to one is reading. Using braille is reading, and listening to audiobooks is reading.

The part that has me in full Captain Raymond Holt "apparently that is a trigger for me" mode is that this bookstagrammer called listening to audiobooks consumption. In the context of her other posts about overconsumption as an issue in the bookish community (again, agree, but also...mind your own business), this seems particularly insidious to me. Conflating influencer-driven (and capitalist hellscape) consumption with listening to an audiobook (again, a massive boon for the visually impaired and those with disabilities like ADHD, dyslexia, etc.) is rude at best and dangerously exclusionary at worst. Stop letting comparison be the thief of joy; mind your own business and stop looking at the pages that bother you. Focus on the kindness of leaning towards inclusion, meeting people where they are, and leaving judgment behind.*

*This person also said "feel free to comment if you disagree but please don't be mean or judgmental," as if they hadn't just posted the most ableist and judgmental sludge I've seen today.

As someone who is VERY fascinated with adaptation in film (who spent quuuuuuite some time back in college obsessing over it for assignments) and who adores the graphic novel, my biggest takeaway from Nimona is that it is an EXCELLENT adaptation. Especially considering how much that production went through! Like, all of the changes and things they expanded on made sense for the transition from book to movie. My second takeaway is that I love it <3 Please go watch it I beg of you 🙏

🥲🥲 my account, @therentyoupay, was terminated today while i was eating dinner.

i have contacted tumblr support but reddit says that getting reinstated is really hit or miss. i don’t trust tumblr anymore so i don’t think i will be using it after this, even if they give me my account back. i have no idea what triggered its termination.

all posts from the last eleven years, as well as my fic-only blog (@therentyoupay-fanfiction), my advice blog, my organized fandom event blogs (@evenly-matched and @jelsaweekend), and my main have all been terminated. all the tumblr-only fic, the master posts, the manifestos, mutuals who i had not yet gotten phone numbers for, and fanart—gone.

will i be able to get it reinstated? i don’t know. even if i do, i think it’s a sign that it’s time to move away from tumblr.

it feels weird. i feel okay and also a little bereft. i hadn’t used tumblr for three years at one point but it was always nice to know that i could come back to it.

not sure if there is anything better than tumblr at this point. i think it might be time to just make a website of my own; or just stick to ao3.

i’ll use this account for now as a catchall for anyone who might be trying to find me. otherwise, the surest bet, for now, is ao3 and ao3 only.

Okay, so I’m pretty sure I already know the answer, but on a scale of “someone’s going to die” to “everyone’s going to die” how angry would Sparked!Valtor be if, after an argument, Bloom slept with someone to get back at him?

Like, this is during one of VERY rare times he isn’t watching her and it’s a one night stand with a random guy whose name she doesn’t know that she met at a bar/party. Someone she’s never going to meet again.

AND, as a “fun” little bonus, she flaunts the marks he left while she’s transformed and fighting Valtor.

Mainly, it depends on the timing. If it’s in the first few chapters, he'd be his usual “someone's gonna die” kinda mad, and that someone is the poor unfortunate soul Bloom deemed sexy enough for a one night stand. RIP bozo u really didn’t do anything wrong but alas

On the other hand!!! Valtor LOVES to be the cause for her actions. He THRIVES knowing that Bloom does anything because of him, that he has any kind of direct influence on her. It's entirely possible his reaction would sum up to “she's a little confused, but she's got the spirit!” Additionally, he's never really jealous per se, in Sparked. He thinks Sky is boring and is insulted that Bloom — HIS equal and nemesis! — would waste time on her boyfriend when she could be hunting him instead. And later it’s more that he hates how much Bloom genuinely cares for him, not that he would really acknowledge that. Since I think he's somewhat casual about sex I don’t even think he would be that mad about a one night stand if he can tell himself that really, she was thinking of him all along. The thing that would really set him off is if Bloom entered a serious relationship with someone he deems actually competent and potentially worthy of her, like Stella, because THAT would be a threat. THAT would actually require him to commit copious amounts of crimes, right the fuck now before this gets any worse. Fuck.

If we're talking post Eraklyon tho, that man is unhinged and repressed and entirely too ready for violence, u give him any reason at all to feel slighted and he will start stabbing people. If Bloom looks at any attractive individual for a second too long he will have a breakdown. What does a man have to DO to become his enemy's center of the world and sole raison d'être? Srsly Bloom, he's asking.

I had never really watched much Marvel, other than a few Spiderman movies and Deadpool. I had definitely never seen any Captain America or Avengers movies.

I found your blog a fair while ago and fell in love with your Steve and Bucky. I decided that this year I would watch throught the MCU in chronological order.

I've just finished watching The Winter Soldier.

I don't know whether I want to say thank you or screw you for introducing me to this world of absolute pain. I believe there is one Captain America movie left, and be warned, if it doesn't end well (with a little kissie) I will haunt your blog until the end of time.

That said, could you spare a Stucky thought to soothe my wounded heart?

DO. NOT. watch Avengers: Endgame. If you absolutely must, cut it off about 10 minutes before the end, this is for your own sanity. It came out in April of 2019, I saw it the first night in theaters, and I am STILL furious any time I think about it.

That being said, you should know that you've reached The Peak of the MCU. There are very few MCU movies better than Captain America: The Winter Soldier. One of them is Black Panther.

Of course, I will be happy to soothe the wounds brought on by TWS. Any special requests or will anything suffice?
