Hey, could I ask about your Heartless AUs? The bits I've seen are really interesting. What are they about? What roles do they (the characters) play?

Hoooo boy okay, first of all thank u so much for asking!! I've thought of quite a few but haven't had much time to flesh them out, so this is going to be partially an infodump about stuff I already know about 'em and partially me spitballing lolol

-Pokemon AU is definitely the one that I have the most fleshed out! There's not much in the way of plot (none of these have much plot actually). Heartless, Doppel, and Glass are all trainers, all with different reasons for training. Flint is the current champion and has been for ~a year. Eira, Lance, Alastor, Lorelei, and Alchemy are all gym leaders. The big bad evil group is called Team Pyre; Alastor is the leader, and all the Jury members are Team Pyre members. Bandy poses as a trainer to gain intel. River runs a Pokemon daycare. Diana is the leader of the Pyre division that hunts rare and shiny Pokemon, and Dock takes care of the team's 'mons!

-Greaser AU. Loosely based on The Outsiders, but doesn't follow the plot of the book because I Don't Want To Cry. Heartless, Doppel, Glass, Flint, Dock, Diana, and Lance are all greasers. Alastor, Alchemy, Lorelei, Bandy, River, and Eira are Socs (basically the rich kids if you're not familiar with The Outsiders). As far as plotline, all I really know is that Eira was a greaser as a kid and was best friends with Lance, but he got basically a scholarship to the fancy private school across town becuase his grades were so good, then he ended up basically getting "adopted" by one of the rich kids and his friend group. He left his old friend group behind completely and doesn't keep contact with them anymore, and Lance really resents him for it.

-Siren AU. I don't know a ton about this one tbh. I know that Lorelei, Eira, and Bandy are all sirens, but outside of that, I don't really know what roles people would fill. I'm leaning towards making it more pirate-y rather than modern, but I'm not 100% on that yet

-Flower shop/tattoo parlor AU. This one's Winter Solstice because Of Course It Is. Flint's family runs a flower shop downtown and he works there full-time. Eira is a tattoo artist at the tattoo and piercing parlor next door. Lance is a frequent customer at the tattoo parlor, he and Eira are exes but they're on good terms. Lance is dating Bandy now. Also might make this a bit of a band AU, but I don't want things to get too cluttered. Either way, Lance is in a band. River also works at the flower shop- she and Flint are childhood best friends. At some point, Flint's mom temporarily puts him in charge of handling the bills because she has other things to attend to, but he inevitably forgets to pay some of them and their water gets shut off. He ends up going next door to the tattoo parlor and asking them if he can borrow some of their water. Eira is working the counter that day and says yes, because he's not a dick. Flint kinda chats him up a bit, they have some solid banter and Flint starts making excuses to go over and talk to Eira from time to time :>

-D&D AU!! This one, again, has No Plot Whatsoever lol. All I really have sorted are people's races and classes. This one's gonna be long, sorry 'bout that haha. Heartless is a reborn wild magic sorcerer. Alchemy is a changeling glamour bard. Flint is a fire genasi sun soul monk. Eira is an eladrin battlemaster fighter/storm sorcerer. Doppel and Glass are both half-elf arcane trickster rogues. River is a human life cleric. Alastor is a vampire abjuration wizard. Dock is a half-orc death cleric. Lorelei is an aasimar whispers bard. Bandy is a high elf arcane trickster/lore bard. Diana is a shifter hunter ranger/gunslinger fighter. Aaaand Lance is a (reskinned) dragonborn eldritch knight!!

-Marvel AU. Don't know much about this one yet. Again, no plot. Just characters. I know that Flint is Cap, Eira is Bucky, Bandy is Loki, and Lance will probably be Deadpool. That's all I've got lol-

Weiss sat at the bar in the dance club. There was a man sitting next to her, talking, trying to keep her attention. She couldn't tell you his name. His voice was muffled by the music, barely registering in Weiss’ mind. She was too transfixed by the site in front of her. Her heart thumped in rhythm with the heavy bass. On the dance floor, not twenty feet from where Weiss was watching, Blake and Yang were dancing. 

Yang had her whole front flushed against Blakes back as they moved together. Blake's hand was curled around the back of Yangs neck, tugging her in close until they were sharing air. Yang's hands roamed possessively around her hips, guiding, leading. 

Weiss was having a hard time breathing. She had known there was something going on between the two, but to see it happening right before her… Weiss squashed down the feeling of envy. She tore her eyes away with a heavy swallow just to turn and wave down the bartender. Weiss didn't drink, for obvious reasons, but right now she desperately needed a glass of water. 

Team FNKI was around here somewhere too. She vaguely remembers Neon telling her they were going to go out back for a smoke. She asked Weiss if she wanted to come, but she distractedly declined, focused solely on the movements of her teammates. 

(Neon had given her a knowing look, but Weiss didn't see it.)

Weiss doesn't know how she was convinced by the other two to tag along. She was supposed to go to the movies with Oscar and Jaune. Maybe it was the bright and hopeful look on Yang's face when she extended the invitation to Weiss. Maybe it was Blake offering to do her makeup, her smile soft but her eyes fiery. Weiss found she couldn't say no.

“-and so maybe you could come to my place tonight?”

Weiss blinked. She had actually forgotten about the man sitting next to her. 

“What?”

No-name man smirked, like he thought he was flustering her, and turned his body towards her in the chair. Weiss wrinkled her nose as the smell of his cologne wafted through the air, invading her senses. 

“Come on,” he said cockily, “let's go back to my place. I can show you a good time.”

“No thanks.” Weiss clipped, grabbing the glass of water the bartender handed her way, drinking about half, before setting it down. “I’ll pass.” 

An annoyed look passed over the man's face as he narrowed his eyes. “So what, you're not even gonna give me a chance? I even bought you a drink.”

Weiss looked down to the counter. He had bought her a drink. Granted, it was untouched and she didn't even realize it was there until he just pointed it out. He must've done that when she was… distracted earlier. 

Weiss stiffened when she felt his hand slide onto her lower back. His hands felt too big, too commanding. Weiss felt herself freeze up. 

“No.” She said firmly, straightening her spine and stepping away, only for him to follow. “Look, I'm here with my friends. I'm not interested.” 

“Lets go dance then, maybe I can change your mind.” He grabbed her wrist and tugged her forward. Weiss dug her heels into the ground.

“Let go of me!”

“Hey what's your probl-” He was cut off when a couple things happened at once. 

One, something, or rather someone, grabbed the collar of his shirt and yanked him backwards, sending him reeling away. And two, she was embraced with soft hands, one curling protectively around her waist and the other softly circling the same wrist the man had grabbed. It took her a couple seconds to actually register what happened.

Yang was standing in front of the man, her eyes had flickers of red bleeding into purple. 

“What the hell!” The man got up in Yang's face. 

“Back off.” Yang snarled, Weiss could tell she was holding back, if the clenched fists at her side were any indication. 

A brush of a thumb across Weiss’ wrist drew her attention to her side. Blake had wrapped herself around Weiss. Positioning herself so she was in between the man and the smaller girl. She wasn't paying attention to what was going on behind her, knowing Yang could handle it.

She was searching Weiss’ face for any sign of harm or discomfort. “Are you ok?” 

Weiss blushed, the close proximity making her stomach flop. “Yes, I'm fine. He just couldn't take a hint.”

“Why were you alone, where's Team FNKI?” Blakes eyes scanned the bar behind her. 

“Hey,” Weiss said, drawing Blakes attention back to her with a touch to the arm wrapped around her. “I’m fine, I promise. I can take care of myself you know.”

Blakes ears flattened against her head. “I know I just-”

“What’s a Schnee doing in a place like this anyways?” The man's voice was loud and irritated. Weiss felt her heart sink a little, no matter how hard she tried, she could never unlink herself to that name. He was still in Yang's face, but the other girl seemed more annoyed than angry now, her eyes back to their normal color. 

“Just leave us alone dude.”

The man squared his shoulders, sizing Yang up. Uh oh. That wasn't going to go over well.

Weiss decided to step in. She stepped around Blake, but stayed close to the Faunus so she still had her arm wrapped around her. “Look, just please go, we don't want to cause anymore trouble.” Yang took a step back to fill in the space on the other side of Weiss, bracketing her in.

The man's eyes jumped between the three of them before setting on Blake. They slide from the arm around Weiss’ middle to her ears on top of her head. He scoffs. Weiss feels Blake stiffen and Yang's aura spike.

“Seriously? This must be some type of joke. You of all people, here with a Faunus?” He laughed bitterly. “Didn't know a Schnee would stoop so low.”

Weiss felt anger swell inside her. She felt it bubble up until her face was red. She felt Yang too, her aura flaring up dangerously. She was about to step forward to give that man a piece of her mind, but before either of them could do anything, Blake stepped in front of him first. 

She leveled the man with a deadly look. Her shoulders were pushed back and the ears on top of her head were perked up, proud. Weiss always somehow forgot how tall Blake actually was. The man took half a step back. 

“Leave. Now.”

Her tone was level but Weiss could still hear the silent threat beneath it. The man must've too because he huffed giving a small “whatever” before turning and pushing his way through the crowd. 

“Asshole.” Blake muttered, turning back to her teammates. Her hand automatically reached for Yang, as if she didn't even notice she was doing it. Similarly, Yang reached her hand out as well, grasping Blake's forearm lightly, like it was second nature for them to seek each other's comfort. 

What shocked Weiss though, was that Yang had just as easily slug her other arm around Weiss’ shoulders and how Blake had yet to pull her arm away from her hip.

“Come on let's grab a table.” Yang said, leading them both away from the small crowd that had formed around them.

They found a booth in the back, one that circled all the way around making the sitting area a ‘U’ shape. Plenty of room for three people to have their own space. So, Weiss couldn't for the life of her understand why they were all squished together on one side. She wasn't necessarily complaining. Blake was in the seat closest to the opening of the table, her thighs were pressed up against Weiss’ and her heart jumped every time Blake would lean in close to talk. Yang was on her other side, arm over the back of the booth, her fingers lightly brushing against Blakes shoulder. Weiss could feel Yang's heat radiating off her, making her want to lean back into her chest, tuck her face into her neck. Weiss felt something in her chest. Something that was definitely toeing over the friendship line. 

Weiss was having a hard time concentrating to say the least. She can hear her teammates having a conversation, the music less loud being further away. She thinks they’re talking about Ironwood? She should probably focus. 

“I don't know Blake, it just feels wrong, hiding everything.” Yang's voice. “Atlas should be prepared, even if that means telling the people in charge.” 

Weiss heard Blake sigh. “Could we not talk about this now?”

Yang raised her hands in fake surrender. “Alright, alright.” She lifted her glass of water to her mouth, finishing off the rest. 

Blake must've noticed they were all running low because she gets up and gathers their glasses. “I’ll go get us some more water.”

Weiss nodded in response. For a few minutes they sit there quietly, listening to the subtle thump of the music. Weiss feels a hand on her thigh, warm and gentle, but also firm.

“You ok there, princess?”

Weiss jumped when she felt Yang's breath ghost over the shell of her ear. Yang's arm had moved from the top of the seat and now rested on her shoulders pulling her in. Weiss wanted to lean in, to tilt her head to give Yang access to her neck. Yang's proximity and this realization made her breath hitch. She wasn't looking at Yang's face but she was pretty sure she was smirking. 

“I’m perfectly fine. Just.. thinking.”

“Oh yea? About what?” Yang's low tone made her look over. Her eyes were somewhat lidded as she scanned Weiss’ face. When Weiss swallowed, she watched Yang's eyes track the movement down her throat. Weiss felt like she was on fire. 

Weiss exhaled as she tried to come up with a response. 

“I..”

“Hey guys! Whats up?”

Weiss jerked back from Yang and whipped around. Neon and Flint had made their way over to the table, inviting themselves to sit on the other side of the booth. 

“Hey you two.” Yang said casually, as if her and Weiss hadn’t been close to making out a few seconds ago. “Where's Kobalt and Ivori?”

Flint responded, “Went home, they have a mission tomorrow they need to prepare for.” Yang hummed in response. 

Neon leaned over the table resting on her elbows as she looked at Yang. “How's your night going firecracker?” She asked with a wink. 

Weiss bristled. Yang let out a chuckle. “It's been interesting for sure.” 

Weiss looked up when Blake silently returned, setting down their glasses on the table. She gave only a slight “hey guys” to Flint and Neon before settling back into Weiss’ side, not wanting to interrupt the conversation. 

“Well with you, things are always interesting I'm sure.” Neon said, with a flirtatious wave of her hand. Weiss had to suppress an eye roll. Really? 

“Something wrong kitty-cat?” Apparently, Blake didn't bother suppressing the urge.

It was Blake’s turn to bristle. “No, nothing.” Blake’s body language told her otherwise.

Neon's eyes scanned the three of them, a small, mischievous smile made its way into her face. 

“What do you say firecracker, wanna hit the dance floor?” 

Somehow, Weiss felt all three of them tense up. No. Absolutely not. Weiss thought. But who was she to tell Yang otherwise? She wasn't her girlfriend. Weiss sat back, leaning into Yang's arm, bitterly glaring at the girl across the table, but didn’t say anything. Weiss snuck a glance at Blake. She had a neutral expression on her face but her ears were pinned back defensively. 

(Blakes ears always gave up what she was feeling, even if her face never did. Weiss would think later about how pretty she looks without her bow.)

Before anyone snapped though, Yang spoke up to answer Neon's question. 

“Actually, the three of us were just about to go dance. Maybe next time?” Yang added the last part out of courtesy. 

Neon however, didn't seem too hurt by this statement at all as she sat back in the booth. She scanned over the three with a small smirk on her face. 

“Don't worry, I get it.”

“Get what?” Weiss heard her voice go up an octave and tried not to cringe. 

Neon just casually shrugged, looking pointedly at the places the three girls were linked together. Blakes body leaning into Weiss, Weiss tucked closely into the crook of Yang's side, Yang's arm hanging loosely over both of their shoulders, completing the circle. 

Neon threw them all a wink then turned to her partner. “Come on Flynt, I don't think we’re invited on their date.” 

Flynt chucked and tipped his hat to the other three. “Have a great night ladies. Get out there, that dance floor is waiting for you.”

The three girls watched the two walk away in shock. It was a few minutes before one of them spoke again.

“So,” Blake cleared her throat, “you guys wanna go dance?”

“Yes.”

“Oh absolutely.”

It started out light and fun. The three girls moving around happily with each other to the music, giggling and poking fun. Yang was a surprisingly great dancer. She was showing off her moves while Blake laughed behind her hand and Weiss pretended to be annoyed. 

That changed when the music did. Going from upbeat and poppy, to low and sultry with a heavy base line. They were already standing close to one another. Weiss felt the atmosphere around them change instantly. 

Blake, to Weiss’ surprise, made the first move. Stepping in close and pulling Weiss in by the hips so they were facing each other. Weiss instinctively raised her hands to Blakes shoulders, palms resting on her collarbones. 

Blake bent over a bit and Weiss had to tilt her head back so she could keep eye contact. She felt Blakes heart hammering against her palm. She slid her hands up and around Blakes neck, locking them together. 

She was so focused on the girl in front of her that she didn't notice Yang coming up from behind. She gasped when Yang's warm front pressed against her. She yanked Weiss’ hips back into hers, Blake being dragged forward in the process too, until they were all melded together. 

Yang started to move, swaying slowly behind her, her hands encouraging Weiss to follow her movements. Weiss felt heat in her chest, filling her up then poring lower. Her hands tightened around Blakes neck and pulled her impossibly closer until their legs slotted together. 

Weiss’ senses were overloaded as two sets of hands were on her body. Yangs’ stayed grounded on her hips, controlling how she moved. They squeezed and rubbed, but stayed there, radiating heat. She was having a more difficult time keeping track of Blakes hands. Currently, one was on her rib cage and the other was sliding up, up, until long fingers held her chin. When they tightened and forced her head up, she closed her eyes and exhaled heavily, too overwhelmed. She could feel Blakes breath on her face. 

When she felt a hand leave her hip she forced her eyes open. She watched with lidded eyes as Yang reached over her to grip the back of Blakes neck over her own hands. Even if she couldn't see Yang, she could tell the two girls were giving each other heated eyes, if Blakes jaw-slacked look was any indication. 

Unable to stop herself, Weiss leaned forward and ran her tongue along Blakes exposed collar bone. She heard the Faunus gasp loudly. 

“Hey.” Yang's voice was hoarse. “As much as I want this to continue, we’re drawing a crowd.”

That seemed to lift the haze over Weiss’ eyes momentarily. She looked around. There was a fair amount of people staring at the three. Weiss did her best to shoot them all an irritated look. 

Blake took a half step back, but didn’t pull away completely. Weiss watched with interest as she and Yang had a silent conversation over her shoulder. Apparently they came to a non-verbal agreement and when Blake looked back to Weiss, Yang was already pulling away. 

“Lets go outside?” 

Weiss couldn't use her words just yet, so instead, she wrapped her hand around Blakes wrist, the one that was now cupping her face, and nodded. 

Yang grabbed Blakes hand leading them away. Blake put her other arm around Weiss and pulled her close to her side as they walked outside, ignoring all the eyes that followed them.

The cold Atlas air felt great on Weiss’ skin. She hadn't realized how sweaty the three of them got in there. They were in the back alley behind the dance club, she could still hear the muffled music coming from the closed door. The only light shining from the broken moon above them, dimly lighting the alleyway. 

The three were only outside for a few seconds before Weiss was pushed lightly into the brick wall behind her. She looked up to see Blake, arms placed on either side of her head on the wall. She watched the other girl swallow heavily as her eyes were locked onto Weiss’ lips. 

“What do you think kitten?” Yang wrapped both of her arms around Blakes middle and rested her chin on her shoulder. 

Blake tilted her head a bit, never looking away from Weiss’ face. Even with the cold air around them, Weiss still felt hot under the pair's heated gaze. 

Finally finding her voice, Weiss started to speak up. 

“I…” She took a breath and tried again. “I’m sorry. I didn't mean to take it so far, I just..” Weiss felt too many emotions bubble up inside her. Most notably, longing. 

She grabbed the lapels of Blakes coat and pulled her in. “I want you.” She found she couldn't speak above a whisper. The raw emotion in her voice making it hard to breath. She looked over Blakes shoulder to look at Yang. “Both of you.”

Weiss’ chest felt tight from being so open, vulnerable. She didn't plan for this to take an emotional turn. She felt tears well up in her eyes, threatening to spill over. 

It was Yang that bridged the gap this time, reaching out with her robotic arm to cup Weiss’ face gently, running her thumb over her cheek to wipe away a stray tear. 

“We want you too.” Though Yang spoke it quietly, Weiss heard it as a scream. Relief washed over her in waves. She took a shaky breath and more tears spilled from her eyes. 

Blake gently pulled her in to rest Weiss’ head in the crook of her neck as she cried softly. Weiss gripped the back of Blakes coat and reached out blindly with her other hand to do the same to Yangs, fisting the front of her shirt and pulling her closer, until they were all huddled together in an embrace. 

They stayed there until Weiss’ tears had dried and her white-knuckled grip on the two loosened. She pulled away and looked them both in the eyes, noticing that both sets were watery. 

“Okay.” She said softly as Yang pressed her forehead into hers. “Okay.”

They all jumped when suddenly the alarms blared through the streets of Mantel. Lights turning red around them, signaling trouble.

“Shit,” Blake said through gritted teeth, looking around, “Grimm.”

They all looked back at one another, taking a moment to cherish the last couple seconds they had. 

Weiss straightened up and nodded at the two. “Okay.” Determination heavy in her voice. They all turned to run from the alley, loading their weapons in the process. 

Later, they would have time, just for them. Right now, it was time to do their jobs.

2 - Their emotional/moral weak spots

ah the ‘self-preservation is only a suggestion’ duo.

🕯vinh has... a lot of weak spots, let’s say that. when it concerns the people who she cares for (in the broad scope of mortals, or in that of people under her care), her sense of duty takes a sharp spike and she is incredibly willing to do a great deal of things for them. she’s prone to overexerting herself for the good of other people, going great distances to either right things or just to ensure that things don’t go wrong. the most notable people on this list would be ortho or idia, but she certainly doesn’t hesitate to extend her reach over people outside of her dorm.

⚖️flint’s moral weakspot is probably in that he technically cares way too much. he’s a man of adamancy and is quite the stubborn beast when it comes to the good of other people. he absolutely will never jeopardize the safety of others, no matter what happens, it seems he’s always thinking about the good of everybody. of course, flint is part of this everybody... but he’s also the only dispensable piece that he’s actually willing to lose, if it has to come down to it. stagrove is a notable weakspot, but if he were to be more specific — it’d be in chase and berkeley.

4 - Best places to kiss on their body

🕯‘why’s vinh always wearing high-neck things’ because her neck is pretty sensitive and she doesn’t like to know that it’s exposed. of course, you could also go about kissing her hand or her fingers to woo her the traditional noble style or go for the prize and kiss her face. her flustered face is always fun.

⚖️kiss under flint’s ear. do it. i know u want to. he’s not gonna flush or anything but at the very least, he likes it 🤫 come on. doooo it . whats stopping u 🤭 i think u should do it. (or you could kiss his shoulder. or his knuckles. he doesn’t particularly care. maybe he’ll be impressed by your gutsiness.)

15 - What it takes to make them cry

🕯vinh doesn’t really like to cry — but she’s prone to crying out of anger and frustration. she has a tendency to not really express everything she feels so sometimes she gets caught up in the more extreme emotions that she can’t tamp down fast enough so she boils over, quite literally. whether it be someone romping on her pride, or wrecklessly harming someone she holds dear — she erupts into a rage and it seems her body can’t take the intensity of it all and she simply has to cry.

sometimes she cries out of a feeling that can’t really be named. an odd mix of self pity, guilt, bitterness... maybe it’s just stress. she’s not really bothering to discern them — but she sort of just simmers quietly to herself until she can pluck her pieces back up and carry on as always. she’s done a lot in her life, and sometimes the weight of longevity shows.

⚖️he’s not ashamed to cry, but he just. doesn’t cry a whole lot. doesn’t really ever feel the need. even as a kid, he hardly ever shed a tear. sure he might tear up if something really physically hurts, but all in all, he’s just never really been one to cry ...but what if i, as mod, make him cry 🙈

take away flint’s ability to do anything about a situation — and i mean, anything. if he’s truly at the end of his rope and he has no more means of doing anything else in a crisis. he may shed a few tears out of frustration. he can’t stand being forced to stay stagnant if there’s still something he feels he can do. he refuses to be rendered powerless, because there’s always something else to do.

20 - What-ifs/Alternate Timelines

w....what if they were merfolk....

🕯vinh is a deep sea mermaid, often times found lurking around sea vents — her scales are black with red-tipped fins, parts of her glow a faint red. she doesn’t venture up to the surface very often, so sightings of her are quite rare to both mermaid and human eyes alike. unlike most deep-sea creatures, she has been noted to be an agile swimmer (and sometimes, a rather aggressive hunter) despite her usual languid and slow behavior.

⚖️flint is an arctic mermaid of sorts, with pale scales and fins tipped with black. he has an inclination for cooler waters, however he seems to operate just fine in warmer oceans. he swims with fairly startling speeds and his tail fin is incredibly prolonged — behaving either as something akin to a whip to stun prey or as an aid for breaching over the ocean’s surface, a sight that haunts the tales of fishermen (since he does not often stray close to shorelines)

1. why did they choose their class(es)? their subclass(es)? Becoming a warlock was never in their intentions, it was done more so because both parties would benefit from the relationship. Flint’s patron needs to earn some favor with a higher power to accomplish their own goals and Flint needed to get rid of some undead, so a celestial patronage was a pretty painless deal. They need each other a little more than they might realize though :^)

5. do they follow a higher power? what are their thoughts on divinity? They don’t follow a higher power, necessarily. Because of their patron they do have to keep in mind that their power comes from being in someone’s good books, and they act accordingly to stay there. Otherwise they believe in the power of gods and all, but their relationship with divinity is generally pretty lax. They’re the kind of person who only prays when they need it, if that makes sense?

19. what haunts them? what doesn’t? All the mistakes from Flint’s not-so-distant past bite at their heels every now and then. What doesn’t haunt them so much is probably the fact they rob tombs lmao... As far as Flint is concerned, an angry spirit or two can’t touch them the same way a grudge from the corporeal can.

22. what is a promise they’ve broken? There’s a lot... but probably the one that ruins them the most is a promise they made to themselves not to hurt people.

25. what stories do they like to tell? what stories do they like to hear? Flint is an expert at spooky campfire ghost stories, mostly because they draw from their own experiences. As for what they like to hear... They like very classic “hero gets the girl” kinds of tales! Stuff you don’t have to take too seriously, and are just stories to be stories.

30. what do they seek out from others? Someone to watch their back while they pilfer jewels and to stoke the campfire when it’s their turn to keep watch at night. In a word, reliability!

33. what makes them cry? So many things... Flint acts tough but they’re a baby... To rattle off a few things, they get weepy whenever someone cares too much about them, whenever someone has to say goodbye (no matter how temporary), and whenever they hear something sappy and romantic. It is almost too easy to pull at their heartstrings.

36. what’s a secret they’ve kept? Probably the biggest secret they keep is what they were like in the past. They spent a lot of years doing some pretty... morally and ethically questionable things...

41. what are they attracted to in other people? It’s weird... but probably loneliness? Not in a sad way or anything (exclusively). Flint has ended up surrounded by people who know too much, so much so that it makes them unquestionably different from others. That kind of thing breeds loneliness and Flint likes filling voids. 49. what makes them smile? They will visibly light up when they get close to a certain town. Where a certain person lives. :^) But also they’ll smile in almost any relaxed situation, like while they’re playing music, listening in on casual conversations, or just drinking in nature.

3. what is their goal right now? He’s kind of drifting through life, just with a lot of enthusiasm, so I don’t think he really has grand ambitions or anything. I suppose you could say his goal right now is supposed to be thwarting a lich queen’s evil plans for world domination, but honestly he’s just here to vibe.

8. what are three songs that suit them? Wait I don’t know anything about music- UH Soldier, Poet, King by The Oh Hellos, Here’s a Health to the Company by The Longest Johns, and Halcyon by The Paper Kites kind of fit Cadma’s vibes. Despite his personality he’s pretty mellow on the inside!

15. do they trust their party? why or why not? Cadma trusts his party more than anything, because he’s stuck by them for longer than anyone else. He used to be (and probably still is let’s be real) very flaky- the second something looks more interesting, or things start looking dangerous he’s GONE. So hanging out with the same crew for years, through thick and thin, has gotta mean SOMETHING at this point, right??

21. do they follow their head, their heart, or their body? Definitely his heart, maybe a little his body. Cadma just has no braincells.

52. from whom do they seek validation? People with more brains than him lol... His old captain (even though that ship has kind of sailed), his current party members, pretty much anyone who is perceivably smarter than he is is someone he wants to keep around and impress.

57. what makes them angry? Not a whole lot, but anyone who uses their faith as justification for keeping the status quo gets put immediately on a hit list. That, and anyone who disrespects a ship 😤

59. what is a quiet passion of theirs? Nothing about Cadma is very quiet, but recently he’s taken up whittling because he needed something to do while everyone else in the party figured out puzzles :’) He’s not good at it.

9. do they care about their appearance? how much effort do they put into presentation? Not a whole lot! Feng Huo was kind of cast out of his village with nothing but the clothes on his back, so he does try to keep what he’s wearing tidy since he can’t exactly afford rips and tears. As well as that, he maintains normal upkeep on all his feathers and plumage just to keep healthy!

17. what do they dream about, when their dreams are their own? They dream about going home one day, seeing all the family and friends they were forced to leave behind. He’s a little afraid of how much might’ve changed in his absence, but his heart really aches for his village. He’s super homesick :’(

30.  what do they seek out from others? Nothing! Feng Huo is the kind of person who gives without asking anything in return. I guess what he wants the most is someone who will just be nice to him, or won’t treat him differently? He gets a lot of looks because he’s a phoenix, so being near people who don’t think he’s weird would be very nice!

At first he wants to write a letter home, but then he decides against it when he realizes no one will know where to deliver it so he just makes a paper crane instead. Not in a sad way though!! finally, the purpose of the old builders (DELVING STRAIGHT INTO HC TERRITORY HERE)- in addition to having beings to interact with other than the villagers- were to be sort of microcosms of what romeo is/was to the mcsm universe as operator/op, but for individual worlds (bc the admins aren’t going to be in all of them at once, even if they can inhabit multiple bodies). the role of the operator is to be the creator and catalyst, to keep the universe/server running, to introduce new factors into it so that it can grow and become something better than it was before. (this also means that romeo literally cannot die/be killed, bc the universe is dependent on his existence.)

it’s not that worlds can’t take care of themselves, but in the event of potentially catastrophic threats emerging, it’d be good to have someone with admin powers lite to step in and stop things before things escalated n potentially spread to other worlds- tho only as a very very very last resort, bc otherwise how are u gonna farm champions?

Hey @taylorswift ! Since you made a playlist for us, I thought I’d make one for you. Music is my life, I even study it at school, and my favorite thing about music is songwriting (which is probably why I love you so much). Lyrics are the most important part of a song to me, but soundscapes are also really rad. So here’s 19 songs that I adore, both lyrically and sonically, and hope that you will also like! @taylornation and fellow swifties feel free to listen in as well :)

1.) Lit Me Up- Brand New 

     This is the best opening song of all opening songs. Brand New has created such an interesting soundscape and feel with the whole Science Fiction Album. It’s creepy, but great. Taylor I feel like you’d really enjoy some of the binaural action going on.

2.) Turn Out the Lights- Julien Baker @julienbaker

     Julien Baker is one of THE BEST lyricists I have ever found (besides you of course Tay). Everything she writes is heart-wrenching  and beautiful and I love it. I mean, come on “When I turn out the lights/there’s no one left/between myself and me” (lyk if u cri evrytim). This is a single from her forthcoming album by the same name and I highly recommend you listen to her debut Sprained Ankle cause damn is it good. 

3.) Horseshoe Crab- Slothrust 

     This song is a trip man. Slothrust (its Sloth-rust not Slo-thrust fyi) is this cool little rock/jazz/blues band from Brooklyn that I ADORE. Leah writes some outlandish but still poignant af lyrics. Notably: “Sometimes I feel like I’m a sea horse/Sometimes I think that I’m a horseshoe crab/I don’t have anything in common with myself/Except that I came from the sea just like everyone else did”

4.) Ready to Go- Hurts @adam-hurts

     Suggested activity while listening to this song is dancing because damn it’s a certifiable BOP. 

5.) Queen- Flint Eastwood @flinteastwooddetroit

     You’ve probably never seen these guys play live but Jax Anderson is a hype beast like no other and can get a crowd full of people who have never heard her music to sing and jump along like they’re the headliners. The chorus gets u going and I think that reputation era Taylor would appreciate “I’m a queen not a soldier”

6.) I Forgive No One- Citizen 

     While I’m not sure if this genre/sound is your thing Taylor, it does remind me a lot of the whole reputation era mindset. “I forgive no one for anything/I forgive no one for what can change”

7.) Moonshine- Lights @lightsalot

     Another great bop about staying up late and partying. Also Lights wrote and drew an entire comic book series to go along with this concept album?? How fucking cool is that?? It reminds a bit of New Romantics in the attitude of “who gives a shit lets go party anyway!!” 

8.) Sunshine Type- Turnover @turnoverva

     Turnover is my go-to feel good band. This song actually sounds like the way sunshine feels. “I was thinking that you could love a song that I hate/I’d still play it for you”. 

9.) Separate- Pvris @thisispvris

     I’d imagine that swimming underneath an iceberg sounds like this song. Pvris (pronounced like Paris not p-virus or puh-vris) makes some super spooky but beautiful things. And can we talk about “There’s always been a disconnect/Running from my heart to my head/And no it’s never made much sense” as well as “Pull away the world from me I don’t mind/As long as they don’t separate you from me I’ll be fine”. It’s almost the opposite of Clean, but in a good way. This entire album has got some killer outros btw.

10.) Burn it Down- Daughter 

      Elena Tonra from Daughter is SUCH a GREAT lyricist. You, her, and Julien are probably the best lyricists that I know of honestly. Plus, her, Remi, and Igor as a band make some DOPE soundscapes that you can get actually physically lost in. “Always said I was a good kid/Always said I had a way with words/Never knew I could be speechless/Don’t know how I’ll ever break this curse”. They wrote this album for a video game soundtrack, but the one before this one Not to Disappear is lyrically so powerful I cry every time I see them live lol.

11.) Trainwreck- Banks

     Banks is a bad ass bitch and I think you and her would get along swimmingly. Also perhaps invite her to sing this with you on the rep tour?? (hint hint wink wink) “Born to take care of you, or I thought so/Maybe it was just a phase” It’s like an updated more sonically banging Dear John imo

12.) Helicopter- Deerhunter

     Back on the soundscape train Deerhunter just sounds cool as shit. The lyrics to this one are story-based and talk about some guy who was a victim of human trafficking. BUT Bradford Cox makes it sound cerebral and plucky.

13.) Deadcrush- alt-J

     I love this song cause it has the coolest premise. It’s about the Dead Crushes of the band members. So like, dead people that the band members admire. The crushes are Anne Boleyn and Lee Miller. I particularly enjoy the music video for this song which is weird as all hell. The pulsing beat that drives this song is something that I think you would appreciate, Taylor. This is one of the songs where it feels more like the words are meant to be a part of a music rather than their own separate piece if that makes sense.

14.) SGL- Now, Now @nownowband

     SGL stands for “Shot Gun Lover” and holy heck does this lyrically resemble some of your stuff! Sign me the fuck up for “Starry-eyed/I was young and undone/But I could’ve died/With you there in the sun”. I’ve been listening to this band for almost as long as I’ve listened to you but they recently got a more pop sound and I am LIVING for it

15.) Lose Myself- From Indian Lakes @fromindianlakes

     I saw on your playlist that you like Cigarettes After Sex and so I thought you might also enjoy the recent stuff by From Indian Lakes. This is the kind of song you listen to when driving home from a date. Ponder closely, “Am I the worm on a lover’s hook/And now I’m right where I’m supposed to be/But something still feels wrong with me”

16.) You and I (stripped version)- Pvris

     Pvris gets to be on here twice cause they are that good sorry but I don’t make the rules (wait yes I do). The lyrics here also remind me of you and how we all just have way too many feelings and our best shot at figuring things out is through writing about them. You and I is about a love that’s not working but that is still desperately wanted, “I know it’s cold when we’re apart/And I hate to feel this die/But  you can’t give me what I want/Just give it time”. Listen to this stripped version to hear how beautiful and lilting Lynn’s voice is and listen to the full band version to hear how much of a powerhouse her voice can be.

17.) Jesus Christ- Brand New

     Yes another Brand New song. You know why? Cause they are also fucking amazing. Taylor, I recommend you listen to this song while lying in your bed staring up at the ceiling and thinking “How the hell did I get here, and how the hell am I gonna leave?” (here can be anywhere, your hotel room, you home, this universe). The next time you read a shitty headline about you in a tabloid think about the lyrics, “We all got wood and nails/And we turn out hate in factories/We all got wood and nails/And we sleep inside of this machine”

18.) Townie- Mitski @whoismitski

     “I want a love that falls as fast as a body from the balcony/And I want a kiss like my heart is hitting the ground/I’m holding my breath with a baseball bat though I don’t know what I’m waiting for/I’m not gonna be who my daddy wants me to be”…… do I need to say anything else? Hopefully you’ve already heard some of Mitski’s stuff cause she’s gonna be on tour with your homegirl @lordemusic this next spring!

19.) Pigpen- Slothrust

     Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with the post-chorus riff from this song in my head. Taylor, the lyrics I’d want you to hear the most from this one are; “I would spread my wings/If they weren’t so god damn heavy/Yeah I would spread my wings/If they weren’t coated in honey”

I’m baaaack and this is my screaming from 2x09 through to 3x02 because i’m trash!! (Honestly cannot tell you which screams are for which episodes so this is gonna be a mess, sorry pals)

Ummm i have a LOT of screaming about how beautiful silver is so imma just get that out of the way now. My kink is fictional characters being threatened/thrown around/generally beaten and bloody and 2x10 was a G I F T in that respect!!

First off (idek what ep this was i’m sorry) vane holding the knife to Silvers throat!!! Turning his question back on his, that was intense (but i loved it 👀) And HOW EASY IT WAS FOR VANE’S PALS TO HAUL SILVER OVER THE T O P OF THE CHAIR AND ONTO THAT TABLE LIKE D A M N.

That’s most of my weird shit out the way but i talk a lot about my love of how characters on this show are allowed to have emotions and this was no exception. There is genuine fear from Silver in that moment, that’s obvious and i love that despite somehow ending up as a pirate he’s still afraid (i mean lets be real they’re all afraid of something) but it’s plain as day. BUT HE STILL STAYS LOYAL. HE REFUSES TO BETRAY THE CREW THAT HE HAS BEEN DRAGGED, KICKING AND SCREAMING INTO CARING ABOUT.

And um everyone, E V E R Y O N E standing up when they grabbed Silver??? “That’s our brother you’ve got there” I died :) they all give a shit about one anothr and it still destroys me.

Anyway, Charles deciding to save Flint, plot twist os the century?!?!? And has there ever been a more iconic power move than Charles Vane throwing his chained hands in the air and having Charlestown decimated??? The answer is no. That moment was absolutely perfect.

Ditto Flint turning Ashe to face Miranda’s dead body; that was powerful. Letting him stew in his betrayal as he slowly dies, everything he built crumbling around him because that’s what happens when you’re a piece of shit. That’s the closest thing Flint can get to revenge.

It hurts my soul that he went there with nothing but good intentions, with the hope of maybe regaining a shadow of his former life and instead lost Miranda, any reminders of his former life and his hope too. I will never, ever get over the absolute heartbreak i felt in that moment.

A sidenote now re: flints hair. Shoutout to my housemate for pointing this out and @prouvairablehulk for confirming. The dealio with the hair then. When James is in the navy he has long, tame and styled hair. When he becomes a pirate it’s shorter, less cared for (in sync with the loss of his love, his life and the beginning of a downward spiral) and, as we open on season 3, the shaved head. The symbolism of having lost Miranda too, everyone he cared about (Silver aside because i don’t think he’s quite realised that yet ;)) AND a steep, slippery slope of his misery, darkness, insanity??? (But lbr when you know the full story it’s not insanity at all. It only seems that way to everyone else. That man is d e p r e s s e d.)

Aforementioned flatmate also decided to h u r t me by saying that Flint has no centre any more :) :) (i’m fine).

B U T Silver is tuned in to Flint, he’s noticed the shift in his moods and he knows that’s more than just flints usual saltiness. (Sidenote again: the more i think about it the more it hurts me that other people just see flint at face value. He’s just an angry, insane, power hungry man to them because they don’t k n o w. Everything about him makes so much more sense when you see his whole story.)

I also adored how (appropriately) outraged Vane was about the slaves. Nothing much is said about his time as a slave but i love that he doesn’t back down easily, only when Jack appeals to him as his friend (as someone who cares him, as someone who DOESN’T WANT TO LET HIM DOWN 😭😭) that he relents and even then he shows them respect and helps them out because he can never forget that part of himself.

My last scream is about that entire fucking storm sequence it was so intense i think i stopped breathing. It was (as always) filmed so beautifully.

The raw emotion of the moment between Silver and (i wanna call him Bub so Bub he shall be named) Bub as he dies was just d a m n. Idek what to say it made me cry. They held hands and Silver cried and he begged and he screamed and it was soul destroying.

(Also their conversation before that??? We said we’d take care of you. I’m fine, it’s just allergies making me cry :))

In conclusion: fuck this show. No, but really the filming is persistently beautiful and it adds so much to each of these moments, makes them ten times more powerful and i am in awe of it tbqh. I love how you can cycle through nearly every emotion in each damn episode; there’s always somethin that i can pick out to scream about and it’s fantastic. Basically i will never be over this show, it’s so intense, it’s so emotional, it’s so beautiful.
