I think a thing/subject ikari/rpd!universe touches on as well as RT INTERVALS are imperfect victims. not going more since my head feels too messy to continue.
"perfect" victims. i dont really understand or think they exist, people who react the way they "should".
I think the two examples that come to my mind (one for each) is:
RPD!UNIVERSE having Eleven blame Ikari for getting themselves into a bad situation (said situation is literally eleven tormenting ikari). ikari is far from a perfect person, but eleven strips any idea that ikari is a victim wrongly from them, trying to gaslight, even alter reality to make it so that ikari would just. shut up and roll over. the reason i put this here is because I'm almost sure if a full summary were to be put down of rpd!universe/ikari main lore, people would side with Eleven. Maybe. I mean, if you look at it in a way, ikari didn't HAVE to do anything. Ikari is the one trying to punch a utopia in a face after all (but eleven is the one doing unspeakable things to them, blaming their actions on IMMATURITY, PUNISHING THEM FOR BEING IMMATURE rather than anything else.)
RT INTERVALS having Nameless be goaded/convinced into trying to "talk it out" wth nocide. forgiveness and all. (except that nocide is a unrepentant, neglectful, eldritch being with a streak for sadism with severe anger issues. How could Nameless actually look them in the face and say anything RESEMBLING an apology to them?)

hello fellow gay people in my phone 💞
here is an update on your fav commie dyke‼️ so… most of you know my now ex-partner of almost 7 years broke up with me a couple months ago and they originally told me they would let me live in the house with them until i had to move across the country for grad school. shocking to no one but me they went back on that decision and told me i had three weeks to move out. that was about a week and a half ago.
the only family i have to stay with is my older sibling who lives in canada where they’re a phd candidate. my ex was kind enough to pay for my my passport renewal and a one-way ticket to toronto, but i need to do some long-term crowdfunding to not only buy my ticket back in a few months but also pay for an apartment deposit and some basic furniture/home goods because all of our furniture my ex got from their family. i haven’t been able to find a job for over a year (yes i’ve been looking/applying for jobs DAILY, still am) and i am disabled so really can’t go back to working food/retail because of the strain it puts on my body. i also take daily medications that i absolutely cannot miss/stop.
i know this is incredibly long-winded but i wouldn’t feel comfortable asking for a large sum of money without being fully transparent. if you have any questions anout my situation feel free to shoot me a message :’)
i know times are tough right now and everyones strapped for cash. truly, i know it’s asking a lot to donate, but even sharing means a lot to me!!! i will post updates as donations come in to stay transparent.

People talking about caitlyns arc is almost always hilarious bc of the collective hallucination that the fandom had about her. People casually inserting g*nocide, ethn*c cl*ansing, etc. into her story like WHERE did that happen????? And its so weird bc no one says anything ppl are just like “damn i cant believe caitlyn did that thing she did at Tiananmen square in 1989” and everyones like yes omg shes so bad :P
Im just in awe at how little the fandom actually cares abt the base content. Jinx being painted as a wholesome manic pixie dream girl like she wasnt a kid murderer that wiped out an entire peace advocacy group and helped one of the worst oppressors of zaun while caitlyn and vi are deemed Toxic Beyond Repair and literally compared to the worst people in history when they were bad for a bit before snapping out of it and working for good the rest of the time… wild shit
#arcane critical#fandom critical#caitlyn kiramman#why would caitlyn assassinate archduke franz ferdinand >:(#and then kick that puppy in the face and publicly endorse PETA#i cant believe she would hypothetically do that#rant post#dont get me wrong btw caitlyn fucked up a bunch and vi fucked up a little#girl in her 20s behavior#but im not shying away from the sht they ACTUALLY did

hey! it's been a while :) i realized that i was just not gonna produce any fic content for now but i want to stay true to what i said earlier about using my platform. i've complied some creators that i keep up with regarding the g*nocide in gaza and the history preceding this g*nocide. i've also included some donation links and useful videos/articles that i think could help people understand what exactly is happening here. this is by no means a definitive list of resources but these informed me so i hope this post helps educate and inform you too. i hope that we may find collective peace together as humanity. i really do.
i'd also encourage others to rb this post or make your own with other creators, resources, and donation links that i have not included!
creators:
Ariana Jasmine (@/arianajasmine___ on most social media sites)
ariana is an iranian journalist and formerly did daily palestine updates on her tiktok and instagram. she puts so much research and time and dedication into spreading awareness for palestine and also discusses us politics and injustice. she's a great resource for understanding the breakdown of major events (and finding out about them in the first place). amazing woman, amazing journalist. i have so much respect for her.
Bisan Owda (@/wizard_bisan1 on instagram)
i'm sure many of you familiar with palestine know who bisan is. in the time i've followed her content i've learned what the indomitable human spirit is and bisan is a shining example. she's famous for her "it's bisan from gaza and i'm still alive" video series where she documents the horrors that palestinians have to live through under israeli occupation. she shows the world firsthand what this nightmare is like and how she lives in spite of an occupation that wants her and her people dead. if you are going to follow anyone, follow bisan. i implore you.
Translating Gaza (@/translating_gaza on instagram)
this account offers real footage of palestinians under israeli occupation and translates their words into english so a western audience can understand. this account, like bisan's and other palestinian journalists, is so so important because it documents the real, lived experiences and suffering of palestinians. to understand what is truly happening beyond the western gaze, this account is essential.
Motaz Azazia (@/motaz_azazia on instagram)
like bisan, motaz is a palestinian journalist who fled from palestine but still advocates and speaks out against israeli brutalization. his account is focused on amplifying palestinian voices and spreading their stories and messages and advocating for the freedom of his people.
Jewish Voice for Peace (@/jewishvoiceforpeace on instagram)
this account is jewish-ran in support of liberty for palestine and often make informative posts. they are a beautiful example of "judaism is not zionism", run by beautiful human beings. i strongly encourage you to check them out!
Xiran Jay Zhao (@/xiranjayzhao on instagram)
xiran also has a tumblr and youtube account. they use their platform to boost donation campaigns for families in the gaza strip. if you're looking to donate to families in gaza, xiran is the best resource to find families to help.
Lama Jamous (@/lama_jamous9 on instagram)
lama is a young journalist from gaza who covers the violence and death occurring in palestine. she's a child and has more awareness and empathy than i've seen in any politician this year. she's commendable and a warrior.
Yusuf Abu Hattab (@/reachyusuf on instagram)
yusuf documents his life and experiences while living in occupied gaza. he brings a sense of humor to his perspective and tries to make the best out of this horrible situation. he documents his life in video journals that include "day in the life of a 15 year old in gaza". he is one of many children who had to grow too fast and adapt to this traumatic situation but still tries to find the light in the dark. he's a wonderful content creator and a wonderful human being.
some more creators (all on instagram): (@/claredalymep), (@/huda), (@/eye.on.palestine), (@/ahmedeldin), (@/plestia.alaqad), (@/sahar.gaza3), (@/ahmad_ijaber), (@/watermelonpicturesco) (please go check all these creators out!)
more resources and donation links utc
resources:
Al Jazeera
a qatari-based news channel that posts updates from outside of the western news paradigm. they often have updates in what's happening in many of the major global conflicts, especially including the ethnic cleansing of palestine.
TED Talk featuring a Palestinian and an Israeli
i feel like this ted talk is so important because it establishes that people want peace. lives have been lost on both sides, people have had their worlds turned upside down. maoz and aziz are just two of the many people. we can mourn the deaths of those who died on oct 7th in israel and the deaths of the hostages, while also acknowledging that the murdering and violence israel's IDF and radical settlers are doing to palestinians is immoral, illegal, and should not be happening and collective punishment is never just. we can mourn for lives lost, no matter which side, and still acknowledge that the ongoing violence is unjust.
BDS' Boycott List
provides a list of companies to avoid that support the ongoing g*nocide of the palestinian people
Israel-Palestine conflict summarized by Vox
i think this is a good starting point for introducing yourself to the history of this region, the people involved, and some of the events that led up to what we see now. key word is starting point, as i think this video glosses over a lot of important information (namely the first nakba and the ones that proceeded it).
Al Jazeera's Timeline/History of Palestine
offers a really comprehensive in depth look at the major events leading up to the ongoing g*nocide in palestine. really informative, i highly recommend you watch the vox video first before reading through this timeline.
Al Jazeera on the Nakba
offers a deep dive into the multiple nakbas the people of palestine have been forced to go through. shows that this conflict did not start on october 7th, 2023.
donation links:
UNRWA donation link
Palestine Children's Relief Fund
Mohamed Khaled
Heba Khaled and their family
The Shaymaa Family
Ahmed and his family
Mohammed Qunoo and his family
Help evacuate Mahmoud Albasyouni's family
(xiran jay zhao often boosts a lot of families and individuals from palestine on their account, please go follow them for even more families and individuals you can donate to!)
closing remarks:
i want to believe in human goodness, and i will hold onto my hope of palestinian liberty and a peaceful two state solution where everyone, whether palestinian or israeli, can live peacefully and happily. i'll leave you with the beautiful words of palestinian poet, mosab abu toha:
#cw: genocide#cw: violence#free palestine#save palestine#palestine#gaza#free gaza#gaza genocide#i stand with palestine#all eyes on palestine#important

“Consider the current exhibition landscape: are there artists known for consistently wearing masks who are securing solo shows? How about Black P*lestinian or non-Black P*lestinian artists under sixty? Or Black artists under sixty who have vocally criticized anti-Blackness before it became socially and financially advantageous? What about artists of any race whose work and/or online posts predominantly addresses C*V*D-19 and ongoing g*nocides? It is evident that many prominent figures and trendy art folks now act as if the pindemic has ended, posting only sporadically about g*nocides when it benefits their brand. It remains taboo to acknowledge that much of this behavior is mere virtue signaling. The repercussions for those who practice what they preach, rather than chasing clout, are stark; accounts that do not engage in virtue signaling often face sh*d*wb*nn*ng (or universally hated in the art world). The arts are akin to the Wizard of Oz, with the reality behind the curtain consistently underwhelming and driven by overcompensation.”

this is just a new ish concept but. its so cool to me. like “wow how did i not see this before but like”.
you know with a story with eldritch beings you'd except a grandstanding world ending event to happen (well, it KINDA gets there but.)
they're taken care of. and then there's that second storyline coming in. that other being on the void. you cant let them escape right? or else they'd cause unfamthable damage, right?
right?
except they wouldn't. they'd just live life. they just want to live somewhat freely. to feel the sun and air again. to see life, while being able to keep over their obsessive guardpost.
so who cares? right? in comparasion to everything else that's happened
what's one life to lose?
and that's what Nameless is so scared of. Because there's all this fuss. There'd be so many complications for IF they just didn't give up and give what Nocide wanted.
I mean, what's one life in comparison to a being who did their best to hold a spirit of violence and fear back from wreaking more havoc (although unsuccessfully?) what's one life compared to someone who doesn't even have a name?
When it would be so much easier to throw them to the void and allow someone else who "deserves" a life more than them.
What then?
The final part of this story isn't about stopping some monster from destroying the world(kinda), it's about realizing that you don't NEED a reason to live. Just live. Just find joy. SO what? So what if you cannot remember anything? When you cry and sob, and that tarry vicious bile starts leaking--and you tell yourself you want, you want to live--you don't want to say goodbye
then it's not time to say goodbye. What's the value of a life? It's the life, the person itself. It seems so small compared to everything else, but that's also you. that could be anyone. it could've been Blue, It could've been Mangie. It just happened to be Nameless--is it the fact that ANY life could be so inconsequential enough to throw away that it's worth giving what Nocide wants? Or is it the justification that the person you'd throw to the dogs has no purpose? No name or soul? Maybe there isn't one.
So who cares?! They take the harder, more turbulent path just to save one life. Just to save one more person from madness and nonexistence.

‘CHARON SELINOFOTO’ + origin.
raja, making a brief (i lied this wasn’t brief MY BAD) & somewhat cohesive headcanon post? unheard of! here’s a cool, shiny new muse i created on impulse bc vanessa is my comfort fc, i like vampire lore, & because why not.
before we start! trigger warnings for death, mentions of c*lt like behavior and g*nocide in the loosest term, & i guess i’ll go ahead and add st*lking as well bc luciano is fucking crazy & a terror in all my vampire lady’s lives.
so fun fact. charon is very loosely based on one of my current sims 4 save files i like to play. within that, she’s a vampire sim named contessa vita balda who came from an established vampire family in the 1200′s, lives in a huge ass pent house in san myshuno with way more rooms than she even needs in a single person household, is basically the equivalent of a vampire socialite as she holds meetings at her crib with the v/atores and weirdo ass v/laudislaus, & has mastered the entertainment career in the musician branch. she maxed out the piano skill, nearly maxed violin, and is level 5 pipe organ skill with some mxiology skill. she’s very cool. she’s also very hot. but enough about my fun save files! time to talk abt charon.
she was originally born with the name arpina, which means rising of the sun, and she came into existence in the 1000s to a rather large vampire family which i call clusters for personal lore purposes. at the time period she was born, vampires were not exactly stigmatized or anything to be weary of , exactly — but they also weren’t exactly going around admitting they were vampires either. like, if you knew one, you knew one. if you assumed someone to be, it would go to the rumor mill or something, but they weren’t actively hiding themselves from the general public. (in my head, i feel like majority of the gossip depended on what cluster family you were apart of. like ‘oh, is so & so apart of the western cluster? don’t they feed on like, snakes?’ or smthn like that, bc i’m not in the mood to look up whether ppl in 1100 knew what the fuck a snake was at that time.) arpina’s cluster resided primarily in the northeast. of where? couldn’t tell you. but they tended to roam & own territory within northern africa, greece, italy, the netherlands, and france.
arpina being a pure born vampire gave her not only physical strengths, but mental ones too. she was very smart. looked to as the sort of guide for her cluster, as she knew a lot of necessary things regarding land and humans, as well as supplying knowledge on where & when to hunt. due to this, her cluster was able to live very easily among mortals & appear more human passing than others, so arpina developed a lot of human interests. she really liked astronomy & the cosmos, but it was still largely a dickfest and it was hard enough for established astronomers getting everyone on board with the concept of the sun & moon. so arpina settled for the arts instead. she enjoyed dancing at parties & contributing to the oral passing of songs and stories, and she also found interest in instruments & painting. not many places allowed her to express this. but for those who knew of her cluster, she was able to become an apprentice under many sculptors, painters, & musicians. she just couldn’t have any of her work credited. (millennias have passed & arpina still has beef regarding the s*stine ch*pel. that ceiling? she was behind that!)
time passes, she settles in between the countries of her cluster’s territory, & arpina is more respected as a woman of the arts. in comes our atrocious human-killing fuckboy. the year is 1580, she’s painting in her studio, hears commotion outside and arpina discovers a badly injured & dying young vampire by the name of luciano. his original cluster have since fallen into irrelevancy, and his surrogate cluster has just been slaughtered as tensions between mortals & the supernatural continue to grow. arpina takes him in, nurses him back to health, keeps him company with many stories & portraits & songs, and offers to spar to rebuild his stamina once he’s able to. arpina saw this as simply helping another supernatural prosper. luciano saw her actions as an act of love, and began to court her by entering surrounding areas & brutally wiping its’ people out, saving a handful of mortals he’s turned with intentions of creating a new, powerful family with arpina as his wife. arpina was very perplexed by his actions. she attempts to dissuade him, he interprets this as arpina requesting more vampires to turn. he continues slaughtering small towns with poorer populations, which in turn increases the human wariness against vampires & other supernaturals, and she is not in love with this man by any means but she has got to get his ass to stop. and he won’t! he just keeps professing his love to her & keeps trying to woo her with this nonsense! finally, arpina is forced to fight luciano and kicks him out of her home. luciano goes ‘that’s fine. :) i’ll just come back later with the rest of our new family. :)’
talk abt a crazy ex. the town she’s in begins to suspect her & arpina is forced to flee. from every single area she moves to. because luciano keeps tracking her movements, following her, & murdering / turning anyone she tries to develop a bond with. at this point, it’s like 1818, and arpina is fed up. she goes back to her estates. gathers all of her information, all of her relics, all of her supplies. purposely injures herself, stages a kidnapping & killing by supernatural-fearing townspeople, sets her known-cluster estates ablaze after gathering her important documents, & officially kills arpina. it was pretty traumatic, but hey, luciano finally stopped following her after believing arpina to be dead. instead, he’s decided to name his children & followers in her namesake, dedicating his mission to giving mortals salvation through eternal life — all to serve the rising sun & reunite his family with arpina. in time, minnie o’day would become his newest fixation & wife on december 24th, 1922 & falls victim to his ideology as well before unknowingly taking a page from arpina’s book by defecting & changing her name to jaira black.
after declaring herself dead to her cluster, arpina settles near the new york-canadian border, claims an extremely large area of wooded land overlooking a cliffside rocky beach & decides to rebuild her estate & its’ large, vast library of her centuries of acquired knowledge & original texts, relics, and artwork. it is heavily fortified, rigged with traps, & is very much a maze both inside & out. she would complete this twenty-five floor estate in full in 1953 before changing her name to selinofoto charon — charon being known as one of pluto’s moons as well as the ferrymen of dead souls crossing the styx, and her chosen surname of selinofoto meaning moonlight. she chooses this name out of remorse for the souls being taken & ruined by luciano in her name, and also because she extends her estate to other supernatural creatures in search of information as well as in the event of needing a place to recover or lay low for some time. she is infamously known to many other immortals as the librarian or the historian, or as a more malicious nickname, the silent dog. (because charon is very docile & fair tempered as a vampire. this makes her much more unpredictable, and remembering her status as one of the oldest living members of a strong vampire cluster causes some to view her as a very dangerous elder. many have attempted to take advantage of these traits, and none of them survived encounters with her. good thing she doesn’t like to fight a lot!)
these days, charon spends time tending to the grounds & surrounding forest and beach of her estate, building the contents of her library, painting, & playing instruments — she excels in piano, harp, flute, cello, bass, & violin. occasionally she will venture outside of her estate to hunt / feed & to engage in actual interaction with actual people, however this is minimal due to luciano still being such a sprung piece of shit. charon also tries not to feed on mortals without exclusive permission to do so, therefore she herds sheep & cows to feed off of before cutting & selling the meat to local butcher shops.
in the event that all of that is a bit...Too Much, i have leaned towards a human verse as well. these details are mostly the same, but more consistent with being a human — her ‘cluster’ is just a well known renaissance family of painters, chefs, musicians & historians / professors / writers. she herself is a very intelligent woman with genius level IQ, summa cum laude degree from julliard, & she currently owns one of her family’s libraries that she occasionally works in as well as being a concert pianist. she also will be having an undetermined alternate fc, bc as much as i love vanessa, not everyone is fond of her current source material LMAO.
anyway. get u a mysterious, sexy vampire lady today. bc all vampires are bisexual to me on default.
#charon — facts#me at midnight: this post will be BRIEF! NO LONG TANGENTS!!!!#me now at 2am: :|#like i'm tired but now i'm making it everyone elses problem by subjecting u all to reading this#and i'm such a glutton for punishment bc now......i'm tempted to breeze through shittydale s5 n s6 to cap icons with#i had no interest in that dumpster fire of a show. idek what its about. but now i'm invested in van's character at every moment#PLUS omg. v/anessa is so annoying playing students so much! please play an adult soon babe i'm tired of being nitpicky w my icons!!!!#anyway. this is ass. goodnight <3

reminder that queer solidarity and intersectionality are not optional hobbies or social clout buzzwords for sectarian “discourse” circlejerks but the only strategy queer people have at not being: a) defined out of existence, b) forced to conform, c) g*nocided. we don’t have the numbers to fight f*scism without allies.

HONESTLY like the argument that “oh kyle’s portrayed as sympathetic that’s canon take that antees :)” is STUPID like OKAY IF HE’S PORTRAYED SYMPATHETICALLY THEN THE STORY IS GARBAGE......WHO IS OUT HERE DECIDING THAT WHAT WE /REALLY/ NEED RIGHT NOW IS TO SHOW PEOPLE WHO COMMIT G*NOCIDE CAN BE REDEEMED. WHO WANTS THAT TO BE THE MESSAGE SENT RN...”sorry finn isn’t the hero actually the ONLY person who can save the universe is the white c*lumb*ner whoopsie doopsie” like what a NIGHTMARE thank GOD star wars ended after episode 7

Genuinely it would be healthy for you to log off from twitter for a week and realize that people are not out to cancel you every second of the day. Nobody is going to cancel you because you watched a movie that has an actor in it that was "cancelled". It's not healthy to take this whole online cancel thing this personally.
Thank you for an anon!
But in all honesty, me "complaining" about cancel culture shouldn't be defined as "unhealthy". Especially when it's me venting and a sort of defense mechanism so people know where I stand on the issue and won't cancel me. And especially after I've suffered through it since 2014. And when multiple friends have gone through similar situations, I know it's not just me and it's a terrible culture that I wish could stop. We don't have IRL friends who like the same interests so why are we being so sharpshooted online when there's this expectation for everyone to be perfect?
And what's funny is it's true. Not every second. But when it's happened multiple times, and I've been harassed for literally *years* (my 25th birthday was just an entire day filled with hate messages lol), I have a right to be able to vent. One mistake 4 years ago lead to a 30+ year old harassing me once every 6 months until last summer and telling people how horrible I am.
When watching Taxi Driver makes me a p*do? Because of the scandal with him during the summer of 2020 that has since gone away. The way Brad Pitt was canceled for a week then loved again but countless fans got hate mail that week. When watching The Mandalorian means I support g*nocide because Pedro Pascal worked with Gal Gadot who's a Zionist in WW84?
I just try to put it out there that no one is perfect and I encourage growth and change (excluding rapists, murderers, the worst of the worst, etc.)
Last night I was happy Jay Lethal came to AEW. A minute later I got spammed DMs that "oh hey he was exposed as an alleged abuser during #SpeakingOut."
I literally got *threatened* last week because I like The Undertaker and I didn't know the shirt he was wearing for Veterans Day (which apparently makes me MAGA), was designed by a guy who back in 2017 was arrested for war crimes. Since I didn't know his life story I got hate.
So the minute I do breathe, I just have to be careful. Jake Gyllenhaal isn't popular rn. Guardians of the Galaxy is my favorite film but oops Chris Pratt is in it. Lakeith Stanfield and Lettita Wright's stances are negative.
So it's just a defense mechanism to *try* to prevent further harassment where I can be allowed to enjoy what I want.
I mean if me asking a close friend for a year how they're doing makes me an "abuser" and causes a section of a fandom to be angry at me and I literally have no idea why, that's not OK.
When softblocking or blocking makes me a b*tch and a c*nt.
When a girl gets mad at me and my friends for getting likes by a fave and then says the fave sexually harassed her blatantly lying and admitting she wanted to end his career so she lied.
I've seen it all. So just me constantly saying "people can change and grow excluding the worst of the worst" so people know me watching a movie does not equate my support for problematic behavior so I can try to avoid canceling shouldn't be an issue. But I will make sure it doesn't consume me.
Granted it can be overhwleming and exhausting and no "real" friend would do that but since I see it happen weekly on Twitter I just have to be careful and just not let it affect me to the point that it harms my health.
I know many who won't watch Polanski films for obvious reasons. But if someone likes Chinatown or Rosemary's Baby, doesn't mean they're now a supporter of p*dophilia. I won't label someone that if they watch said film.
Thank you for reaching out. I know true people won't cancel but after all I've been through where the slightest support equates support of the person and their problematic behavior, when no one is perfect and this makes me feel people just want you to stare at a wall, it's just the least I can do to avoid conflict. It shows just how far out I go to avoid said conflict. The main thing I will do is make sure it doesn't affect me mentally and physically in a harmful way but I can only hope people can understand that me watching a movie does not equate support of said bad behavior.

JAIRA IVY BLACK + random headcanons i’ve gathered over the years.
i’ve been writing jaira since late 2016, these are all just hc’s and things i came up with but was too shy to post lolol. establishing trigger warnings for mentions of: violence, death, illnesses (both temporary and chronic), misogyny, mild discussion of gender / gender roles, pregnancy, mental illnesses, g*nocide (sort of???), c*lt like behavior, and more death. vampire stories are not happy stories, y’all.
for reasons unknown, i’ve always sort of played with the idea that jaira’s inevitable death was something that wound up foreshadowing itself through her life. at first it was going to be like, stupid little obvious drops like one of minnie’s favorite novels happened to be nosferatu or something. horror stories just intrigued her, almost as much as baldwin novels or hughes poetry did. but that was also like...too obvious. (i mean, she probably did like the horror genre to a degree & ate mary shelley’s frankenstein up.)
continued toying with said idea led me to come up with the semi-solid fact that minnie was actually a very ill baby. she was struck with fever in infancy and had a very short life expectancy of a few weeks. both of her parents were devastated. her mother already suffered miscarriages, they were preparing to bury their only child as soon as she’d been born. plus, this was literally 1900, so it wasn’t an uncommon thing for babies to fall so ill in infancy. but somehow, minnie survived, and her life continued moderately normal. still with a weakened immune system due to what the fever did to her and susceptible to other illnesses that science would eventually find vaccines for, but her life was relatively unchanged before her death.
jaira’s ‘death’ at twenty two years old / subsequent turning gave her the appearance of permanent youth. which she finds annoying. plus it got her into some pretty traumatizing situations because in her early naivete, she was often dismissed, belittled, taken advantage of and straight up put into danger. i’m talking grown ass men screaming blue in the face and physically striking her for simply thinking she was smarter than them. (she was. she had some college education and did apprenticing to be a seamstress by the time she’d passed away and made excellent marks in her studies.) but don’t worry, she no longer looks like twenty two year old minnie. natural scarring and pollution now makes jaira look a smooth thirty. sometimes she even gets mistaken for twenty five.
turning was a painful experience. 0/10 would never recommend. it is not nearly as poetic or sexy as literature and art make it seem. it is messy and bloody and terrifying and awful and painful and death. it is also a very long process. she literally never saw her parents or immediate family ever again, as after her ‘funeral’, her parents left new york city in their grief and each died of natural causes later in their lives. if they heard about a woman named minnie o’day performing in harlem’s jazz clubs and overseas, they wrote it off as coincidence.
this lines up with something else i came up with some time ago: there is a clear distinction to me between pure born vampires and human beings who have been turned into vampires. not only from a power-based standpoint but a biological one as well. (not to say that turned vampires don’t have powers and enhancements, bc they absolutely do. jaira specifically has super strength, accelerated healing of new injuries only — meaning, the injuries of her car accident do not & will never heal ever, enhanced senses of smell, sight and hearing, some increase in speed that unfortunately doesn’t measure to that of purebreds, telepathic abilities such as the ability to both read and speak into one’s mind, and if she concentrates hard enough she can levitate. but she only really uses levitation if she can’t get to sleep.) whereas vampires born as such were never really explained as having much physiology, humans turned into vampires kind of...are at a standstill to me. their organs, while not entirely dead, just sort of are stuck in more or less the same state they once were in. this means that while their hearts are not actively beating and the blood in their body is sort of just clotted mush at this point, not everything is done for.
(and from the perspective of writing vampires who are also women, such as sam’raa ebadi being a purely born vampire vs. jaira being a human previously, i like to think that while there’s obviously no active menstruation going on, that doesn’t exactly equate to menopause per se. the shit is still there, just turned off. there’s still all of the proper hormones and eggs and whatnot at a stagnant. but things like pregnancy rely on body temperature more than a state of living for me. and since turned vampires no longer have an internal temperature, they have to regulate this themselves externally. this made up a lot of jaira’s later feelings regarding her gender, especially raised up and taught with a completely different outlook of what femininity meant, she often felt frustrated and disillusioned because she is not like other women and she will never be. cue thoughts of: am i even a woman? i was taught what this meant for me but it will never be the same as it once was. i look like a woman but am i really a woman? if i don’t fit the expectations once given to me? what am i? while these thoughts no longer bother her, she is very much sort of disconnected of what she believed were societal expectations for being a feminine woman. she’s too old for this.)
i also believe that humans with comorbidities who were turned into vampires will still retain some of those traits. for example: a human with diabetic retinopathy that is turned into a vampire, while having slight enhanced visions from the biological change, still will have decreased vision based on how damaged their sight was to begin with, which in turn affects the way they hunt compared to a purebred vampire with all enhancements and no morbidities; or a human that is deaf prior to being turned still remains deaf, but with other enhanced senses such as sight or smell or movement that another human would not have. this is also why a lot of jaira’s early chronic pain via the fatal car accident as minnie is retained in her enhanced body, why she still has scarring and body pain, and why turned vampires in general experience increased vulnerability and weakness closer to their body’s death date. they’re not the same kind of enhanced creatures as vampires are; they’re just semi-functional dead bodies.
i never came up with a name for luciano’s cult. mainly because he’s no longer present in her life anyway and jaira has not fully committed to trying to kill him & the rest of the members. i just know that their goal was this weird, fucked up sort of ideology of humans being weaker and lesser than, and must be converted or otherwise exterminated in order to face the true dangers of the world. accomplishing this goal meant scouring the globe and preying on the dying by offering them eternal life in exchange for...well, everything they have. they may even manipulate and intentionally cause life threatening injury to acquire those they are particularly interested in. those who they don’t view as ‘worthy’ of this exchange are just simply eliminated. they also like to populate via vampire ‘children’ (those who are turned + those who happen to give birth to vampire hybrids), preferring those with more affinity of vampire traits than those without. so uhhh yeah. not elaborating any more on that bc it made my brain hurt.
jaira fled said cult in around 1970 after one too many acts of brutal violence and overall atrocity that unnerved her the more she realized their goal was less about helping people live and more about eliminating humans entirely. jaira does not talk about her time with them. she does not talk very much about her relationship with luciano, the humans they’ve killed, the hybrids she helped populate or the trauma and borderline PTSD this has given her. unless they happen to know who she is to them & come to her first, she does not seek out her hybrid children (or even subsequent grandchildren); in fact, the only child she acknowledges despite the estranged relationship is her daughter flora with her first husband ebenezer, born in 1956. (fyi: ebenezer is a seemingly immortal shifter who’s been around since the 1800′s and their daughter flora stopped physically and biologically aging past her 20th birthday. he owns a bakery in chicago. flora helps him run it.)
but on a lighter fuckin’ note. jaira, being a turned vampire and not a pure one, did show up in photographs at one point. given that 19th century cameras were the kind where you had to stay extremely still for and had a slight fuzziness to them, jaira is able to appear on some film cameras and the early 20th century flash bulb cameras because 1. i learned a few years ago that the easiest way to tell if a person was living or dead in an old photo is if the photo is super clear. bc they’re dead. so they’re still. 2. jaira...technically doesn’t have to breathe? like she does it out of habit at this point but it’s not necessary for her to breathe so she is able to sit still without moving. 3. while she ‘shows up’, it still is not a crystal clear image. when the film is processed, any photo of her / with her in it will appear hazy or with distorted looking orbs around her, and she looks almost faded in pictures. very freaky. she does not, however, show up on digital cameras or cell phone cameras bc uh............hm.............never cared to think abt it further than that. whoops lol
i wrote this somewhere actually but jaira is still a traditional vampire in the sense that you have to let her in. i remember this bc i unintentionally wrote in a thread for her once that she stood outside a love interest’s door and didn’t / couldn’t go in until he physically pulled her into the room. (said old thread with @blackplanct is here if anyone wants to be nosy) she is also a traditional vampire in the sense that she hadn’t seen her reflection in nearly a century until they started making aluminum backed mirrors and it scared the shit out of her to see herself in real time. and she is alsoalso a traditional vampire in the sense that, if she’s getting on your nerves? being too violent? don’t wanna let her in bc you’re suspicious of her? drop some rice grains on the floor and she’ll irritatingly count those bad boys up. bonus delayed time if you mess up her count and she has to start back over.
so i’ve never actually contemplated a sort of au of jaira being a human instead. it just feels unrealistic, tbh??? however, if i do choose to write a modern / human verse for jaira for those who think this vampire shit is just...Too Much to contemplate, i’d like to think her life would be relatively unchanged from what it was meant to be during the 1920s — she would have been a seamstress, likely taking over her mother’s showing shop or eventually owning her own clothing store. she still would have married (and prbly still have divorced) ebenezer & had flora, the only change being that flora doesn’t hate jaira as much and she would likely be jaira’s only child. or if i wanted to keep it spicy, she still would be involved in private investigating or some sort of morally ambiguous work or smthn of the sorts. so that is an option on the table if at all necessary.
i will likely make additions / revisions to these at some point or even entirely axe them, who knows. but again these are everything i’ve theorized or vaguely mentioned in memes or threads from like early 2017 to now in 2021. we are also open for plotting & connections, because this old ass lady basically knows everyone over 50 within nyc.
#jaira — facts#long post tw#every time i make long hc posts its like. wow i hate everything abt this actually#i am not opposed to being beat up over this#will i prbly fall in love w it like i did with that one ilyssa hc post that one time? yes most likely#but right now its like. where is the coherence girl#u are on an entirely different plane of existence no one wants to be on and its very hot of you @me

i am almost desperately, feverishly afraid people miss the point of Nocide. I have talked about this before but I will write it again.
originally, in symbolism terms they were depression. just depression. but since nocide is more than that, i expanded that. while they can be called depressed and perhaps they need help their actions still have consequences. consequences that are for probable somewhat relatable reasons--you can see the reasons perhaps in other people or on a smaller smaller scale.
nocide wants to return to older times so they sub in people and project the past onto the present. it's many things going on at once but just because nocide is a character fueled by anguish for the past or for relatable reasons doesn't erase the harm they've created on purpose.
[warning: i have no idea what tw/cws apply. tread with caution.]
they literally deny most or any responsibility and just brush shit off. just because someone has something going on with them doesn't give them free perks to abuse someone. apologies if this post comes off a bit harsh, and again--this is a consequence of having RT INTERVALS so closely related to my experiences. perhaps it was a mistake to make it so. but nocide is both an amalgamation of an era of my life where i was depressed and frequently had thoughts of harm, and partly the aftermath of a shitty "friendship" I was in.
im not saying that like people with shit going on in their lives don't need help or something but like. for this case specifically, nocide is the abuser. im not saying all people with shit going on are abusers. im very afraid of piss poor tumblr reading comprehension (and the fact that i tend to format thoughts/writing into stream of consciousness so writing/thoughts are messy) so I'm putting this down in case anyone wanders by this post.
nocide is the FUCKING BAD GUY. the point of them is that just because someone suffered doesn't mean they get to take it out. on the somehwt other side of the coin, nameless' thing is that it's not the victim's responsibility to "fix" someone. you cant do that. like, it's not even a responsibility of thiers at all.
like. "ohh but nocide is so in loveee" SO WHAT they literally are [spoilers] they are KILLING NAMELESS and they don't really CARE enoughto STOP IT love is NOT A SOLUTION TO THAT SHIT it is not a MIRACLE CURE for ISOLATION and EMOTIONAL BLCKMAIL and physical VIOLENCE (in terms of nocide x nameless)
LIKE. if i ever do come out with a full story. i need people to understand that it is a fucking abusive relationship that is one sided. (and anything on nameless' part is. is not "OHHH TRUE LOVE" ILL KILL YOU)
#ocs#oc#rt intervals#slight vent#c!nocide#ramble#long post#i have no idea what tw/cws apply here so tread with caution#im just. angry sorry guys
