So imagine sliding your finger into a gunshot wound because you need to dig the bullet out and you hush him when he says he needs to go to the hospital because the hospital is really the last thing he needs. What he needs is to sit still and be quiet and be good. This wouldn't have happened to begin with if he just did as he was told. And if you saw your finger in and out, and your breathing feels a little shallow, and you're shifting forward to watch the way the blood leaks out it's just because you're worried. You're always worried about him. The motion of your finger is just that. A finger in a wound. It could be two. It would go faster, with two, but if the hands on your shoulders are weakly pushing at you now they'll be shoving if it's two. So. It's one. You still have to find the bullet. Even if it's tempting to leave it in, just so he doesn't forget. Sew up the gash like you've done a dozen times before, and will likely do a dozen times more. And you'll enjoy it. Because you like to take care of him just as much as you hate how it gives you goosebumps, and you always pay attention to the way his eyelids flicker when the needle goes in and pulls back out and goes back in and pulls back out. Just like your fingers in the wound. Both of them. Digging. Searching. Feeling that slick, coppery warmth. It feels disgusting, like the saliva pooling under your tongue at the smell, and the sound of him saying 'Stop, that's enough, goddamnit I'm gonna bleed out-!' is easy to ignore when you've still got a bullet to find. And no. Going to a hospital is out of the question. You can handle this. You always do. He should leave everything to you.

hey flippy!! can you give some tips on how to deal with unfortunate letter matchups like v/v or c/c?
this is where the magic grays sadly
c/c, because of c only really having one form, has one semi-okay glyph, and it's this:
Tumblr media
in here, its just a circle with two slits cut out of it to play the c's opening. they're usually offset like this because putting the slits on the same level at the center just looks like a weird symbol. here's an example of c/c in use:
Tumblr media
where the intended reading of the c is in red. this gap on the bottom may cause some reading problems, so some prefer to "occlude" this gap with a flourish or line, as seen here:
Tumblr media
where the starting stroke of the r fills the gap of the c at the bottom. a hitch may also be added at the top lip of the c/c for aesthetic effect and cursive recognizability, but would impact the style for the rest of the ambigram.
v/v is rough. there are two main ways to do this. but they work best as multi-letter glyphs.
Tumblr media
this one puts the V at the start of the glyph, leaving a flourish at the end. this flourish is ideally used as the stroke for another letter, but if done well can be left as a flourish. most possible misread would be a lowercase N. here's an example of this in use:
Tumblr media
where the other extra stroke of the V serves as the spine for the E. the second one is where the V is put at the end, and looks like this:
Tumblr media
this one is worse because the N misread is much stronger now, but again would work with the extra stroke as a flourish or as a stroke to another letter. here's an example of this in use:
Tumblr media
where the extra stroke is being used as an i
hope this helps somewhat!!

disabled people who do not directly "contribute" to society and need large amounts of care and resources to survive deserve not only to survive but to have comfort, stability, and fun within their lives while they do. no compromises.

ghost stories are alarmingly easy to spread tbh
when I was like ten I was walking back from the chip shop near my gran's house with a neighbour and we took a short cut down an alley which was enclosed by garages except for one part which was wire fenced and led to the electricity shack
and while I was walking I chucked a chip over the fence. the girl walking with me, C, reasonably asks why I did that
"oh, don't you know?" I say, as if I'm not equally out of my own loop
she shakes her head. the enclosed alleyway has no streetlights. it's after dark. the shack is isolated in the distance.
"a little girl who lived up on the court climbed the fence once on a dare. she went up to the shack and touched it, but there was a wire sticking out, and when she touched it, she got electrocuted and died, right there. if you come back in the daylight, you can still see the black mark."
[editor's note: the court was the smaller road off the side of the crescent, which was the one C's family and my gran lived on. the houses there were slightly more expensive and newer, almost all occupied by wealthy commuters to the city, where most of the crescent houses were occupied by retirees and locals who worked on the trading estate. naturally, crescent kids hated the court. houses there got bricked about once a month.]
"no she didn't," C says
I made up this story for absolutely no reason and with no plan, but I'm not gonna back down now. "sure she did. and if you go past on your way back from the shops and you don't leave her an offering, she'll follow you home through the streetlights. one flickers behind you, then the next, then the next, until you get home. and then the lights start to flicker inside the house. even if you turn out all the electrics before bed, it'll be too late. she's inside. and you'll wake up on the night and see her, and she'll be so awful to see it'll stop your heart."
[editor's note: the streetlights always flickered. this was because our neighbour monkey george kept setting the junction boxes on fire]
"I never did before and she never followed me home!"
"do you come down the alley after dark? or do you take the main road with the streetlights?" I knew she didn't use the shortcut, because I'd been the one to talk her into it that night. she was three years younger than me and scared of the dark.
C claims not to believe me, but she throws a chip over the fence too, and walks the rest of the way looking over her shoulder. I get to pride myself for the night on being good at scary stories, and don't think much more about it.
fast forward six or seven years. I'm back in town. I'm on my way back from the chip shop, taking the same shortcut home. ahead of me on the road are a couple of kids I vaguely recognise as old playmates' younger siblings.
they stop, and I watch one fish out three sweeties from the pack they're sharing. they take one each and throw them over the fence. they carry on walking.
I realise that this is probably my fault, as are any resulting pest control issues around the old electricity shack.
when I get to the fence, I throw a chip over.
