Listen! I will speak of the sweetest dream, what came to me in the middle of the night, when speech-bearers slept in their rest.  It seemed that I saw a most wondrous tree raised on high, wound round with light, the brightest of beams.
-The Dream of the Rood (tr. Roy M. Liuzza)
Read this old poem for the first time a couple weeks ago and found it really neat. I love the rhythm in the Old English poems, and the interesting familiar Christian imagery (though with a smidge of the Woden in it as well?) It’s been a while since i did these kinds of black and white illustrations, so it was neat to do so again. The poem describes the crucifix as being gilded, but the tree-emphasis and animistic aspect of the poem of it made me what to emphasize the “living” feeling.

"Ngk,” said Crowley. Now the angel took a slow sip of his drink, eyes dancing. “Duly noted.” “Double ngk,” said Crowley this time, and Aziraphale giggled.

Crowley has one more fantasy that he's initially hesitant to share - he wants Aziraphale to dominate him, to use his angelic powers on him, and for the angel to use Crowley for his pleasure.
Aziraphale, as always, is only too happy to give him what he wants.

tbh this is my favorite thing I think I have ever painted on CSP. Caed (Gardener) felt much more free and easy as a cowpoke in the Western AU on our SPoP server. I loved playing and painting him as a more secure version of himself.

Feast Day of Caedmon of Whitby, February 11th
Cædmon's Cross, 1898
Erected in his honour in the graveyard of St Mary's Church in Whitby.
The story of Caedmon recounted by Bede in his Ecclesiastical History of the English People [book iv, chapter 24] written about 50 years after his, Caedmon’s, death, tells of a cowherd working on the lands of the monastery of Whitby then called Streanæshalch. Apparently, Caedmon was reluctant to take part in singing at feasts but one night, after he had left early so as to avoid having to perform, he had a dream.
A man appeared to him, who asked him to sing, when Caedmon replied he could not sing the man responded that “you shall sing to me”. Caedmon asked about what should he sing. The reply came that he “should sing about the creation of all things”. This he did, singing verses in praise of God. When he awoke the next morning, he remembered his dream and told his master, the reeve, who took him to Hild, the abbess. She found him a place among the brothers and he was instructed in religious history and the scriptures to create songs and poetry from what he had learned.
The name Caedmon is of British origin and points to the survival of the British in North-East Yorkshire during and after the Anglo-Saxon migrations. He may have been a British Christian, a descendent of those people who were converted in the 4th century under Roman rule, or, he may be been converted when Hild established the monastery around 657 AD. He never acquired reading or writing skills but had an amazing memory to be able to create these songs. Hild recognised that Caedmon’s ability to compose songs in English was of the utmost importance to bring an understanding of Christianity to all people, not just to those who knew Latin.

Spreading the word!
Hi, friends.
I hate doing this with every fiber of my being, but we are in need of some help. Last year left us with significant medical debt that we’re struggling with, my dentist is telling me I need $2k worth of work, and this past Wednesday, my van bit the dust after ten years and 239k miles. It’s a total loss. I am so sorry to ask, but we really, really need some help. If you’d be willing to help us in any way, by donating or reblogging, I’d be eternally grateful. We just need a little bit of a break!
Thank you! 💛

I made this illustration for the chapter 17 of Whickber Street the fanfiction currently written by Caedmon on AO3 😄
You can read it here (if you like Human AUs and an explicit rating is okay with you, you will probably like Caedmon's works! I know I do 😁)
I'm sooo happy by how it turned out.
There's little things like the angle of the arms in the main part or Az' hand in the left corner, but it's the best I can do for now and it's such an improvement for me that I'm not really bothered by it. I know I've still a lot to learn and that's okay, that's normal (and having aphantasia is complicating things further for me.)
The only thing bothering me is the way it's obvious that Gleafer's work are one of my main inspirations. I'm learning a lot by studying her drawings in term of movement, expressions, etc. but I don't want to copy her work 🫤 I really need to work on that
And here's the sketch I did for my daily practice, before I decided that I wanted it to be a "real" drawing
