Yuu has the audacity to ask a question. It leads to some interesting moments  

Jade Leech, Rook Hunt, Vil Schoenheit, Floyd Leech

Jade Leech 

“Jade, can I ask you a question?” It’s not often that the library is so packed that you end up sharing a table but if it had to be with anybody, at least it was Jade.  

Jade wasn’t naturally academically smart. He took a lot of notes and studied in order to come out in the middle. There were folks that thought he was simply keeping his head down, but Yuu found out by accident. She knew Jade was incredibly street smart and people savvy though, no matter what grades he got. It worked in her favor though, as Jade let them copy notes from last year in exchange for not sharing the information anywhere. Not that Yuu planned too, but they weren’t going to pass up such an opportunity either.  

“Of course, I will assist in anyway I can.”  

“Do you have any books that you would recommend for scavenging for local flora and fauna in the woods back at Ramshackle? I’ve tried searching through the library but it’s a bit too vague for what I need.”

If Yuu had blinked, they would have missed the brief surprise and delight on his face.  

“Well,” he sets his pen down, “As the president of the Mountain Lovers club, I’m sure we could discuss that during our meetings. If only you were a member.” he sighed  

“If only Crowley would allow me to join any clubs.” Yuu muttered, “I know it's a requirement for first and second years to be involved in at least one, but he says I have far more to offer as his unofficial assistant. Unpaid is more accurate but what do I know.”  

Jade smiles, the one that matches his brothers. Wide and full of teeth.  

“Leave Crowley to me, dear Prefect. You just meet me in the morning behind Ramshackle. Bring a basket and your camera, oh, and dress warm. It'll be cold for you.”  

He writes some extra instructions on a slip of paper and collects his things, turning left at the library doors. Damn, that was straight to the headmasters’ office too. Jade really doesn't play around when it comes to the Mountain Lover's club.

While Yuu isn’t able to attend every meeting, the Mountain Lover’s club apparently includes trips to other countries, recipes cooked in the Ramshackle kitchen as well as appreciating cultures and crafts made by various peoples which slowly starts to decorate the rickety dorm into something interesting and unique. Jade becomes a different person as a traveler and seems to find joy in just exploring and discovering all the different ways that people create and eat and live.  

After he graduates, Yuu gifts him the book that the two of them created, with pictures and descriptions of all the Night Raven College fauna and flora, their uses, if they are edible, and different recipe and potion ingredients, the regions it comes from, and even snippets of stories and memories they share.  

Jade is not an emotional man, but when he asks you to come with him on his next expedition, his smile is full of joy.  

Rook Hunt

“Rook, can I ask you a question?”  

Rook looks down from his spot in the tree, a camera perched in his hands. “Amazing eyesight, Mon Trickster! I did not anticipate being found. Ask away, but be quick, less Roi de Lion suspects me.”  

“Are there any plays or poetry books that would be good for a beginner? I read a lot back home but I know there is cultural and historical context I'm going to be missing-” 

“I am so happy!” he practically drops the tree, taking both of her hands to kiss the knuckles, “I would be happy to help you. Come, come!”  

Oh, they are going to the library now. Right now. Ok, Yuu should have expected that.  

Rook is always excitable, but he’s mindful as well. Picking out smaller volumes at first, and adding some reference materials, putting a few back as he asks questions about what she has already read or what she typically enjoys. He also writes out a list for audio books and radio performances. Thank the Seven that Crowley finally got them a phone and they could excuse the data usage for school.  

“I have the films I would be willing to lend, but I would ask you be incredibly careful.”  

“Oh, I don’t have a TV or any type of DVD player at Ramshackle. We try and keep the places as authentic as possible. It helps when the ghosts come to visit on Hallow’s eve.” They don’t have wifi either and their electricity runs off a backup generator, but Yuu doesn’t mention that. They are distinctly aware of how rundown Ramshackle is, but they try not to advertise how badly.  

“What dedication you have to your dorm and the history of Night Raven College. We may do so in Pomefiore!”  

And that’s how they end up having movie night basically every Wednesday night, sometimes with other Pomefiore members or even Vil himself refreshing on the classics. Rook would sit close by, quietly explaining certain contexts and even joining Yuu on reading through some of the poetry books. His passion comes out more with his knowledge than his speech in those moments, and it’s...nice. Normally Rook is the most reserved person she knows. He’s family is still a mystery, but she’s learned more about his beliefs and insights into how he perceives life in general. 

“This is how I met Roi de Poison, you know. He enchanted me at first sight, but his mind...he understood my passion for theater, music and beauty. He respected me, once I proved that I loved him for more than his looks and roles.”  

Crazy fan he might have been in the past, it was definitely more of an equal relationship once you saw past the surface level. Yuu eventually started picking a few habits and fashion tips, slowly becoming a bit more refined. Elegant even, she might say.  

When she hesitantly asks for help with other things, it's easier each time. Help with skincare routines, or experimenting with make-up, what colors work best and how silhouettes come across. It’s never been this fun to experiment with her style. It helps that Rook, while thinking certain things definitely work, will be gentle in the things that aren’t.  

“They do not enhance your beauty,” he says, sounding like Vil, “And you are already magnifique.”  

He is the first person that she shares her book of stories with, the precognitions that she has  

“Do you think fairy tales are fiction?” He asks her, quietly skimming over the passages of Snow White. The Fairest Queen is barely mentioned, but without her, there is no story.  

“Living here feels like a fairy tale, but if it is, you’ve made it a wonderful dream.”  

Rook looks at her, a surprised chuckle slipping out. Before he can hide it, his nose crinkles, a smile wide enough to show his gums, and Yuu thinks it enhances all the best of him.  

Vil Schoenheit 

“Vil, may I ask you a question?” 

“At least somebody paid attention when I went over manners. You may.” Vil says, as he adds in some sort of lilac powder. Normally, they wouldn’t have any classes together, but with Yuu acting as an ‘assistant’ towards the teachers to make extra cash, they got to see the second and third years more than even the other first years in their dorms.  

“How do you make time for it all? Between the acting jobs, getting good grades in school, indulging in potionology and homebrew makeup in your limited free time, it seems like you get so much done with just as much time as the rest of us.”  

“Thank you for noticing.” Vil says, looking up from his potion work. “And yes, I do keep a very organized schedule. Every minute is planned and my down time is spent decompressing efficiently.”  

“Is there any articles or techniques you would recommend? Or a template you used?” 

“You could just ask me for help, you know.” he retorts, huffing a bit.  

“I know I could, but I also want to be respectful of what you have on your plate.”  

“Ah, potato...I have plenty of time, especially in this season. I don’t schedule anything this close to finals. Come sit with me this evening for dinner and we will talk goals and progress markers. There is more to this mentally than most people think.”  

Vil is a bit less than impressed when he sees just how much Yuu accomplishes for Night Raven College with no credit and makes a note to talk to the teachers and Crowley about getting her properly compensated or at least. But overall, it goes well, making time for exercise, hobbies, studies and even some time with him. Telling her about the techniques he used and actually practicing them were two different things, and some things are just easier to show rather than tell.  

“Alright, let’s start here.”  

Mindfulness, ironically for somebody outside Scarabina, is important to Vil. Sinking fully into the experience of his daily life, looking at all the colors, enjoying his foods with no screens, or just enjoying the quiet while he removes makeup. His decompress is like a valve that he releases in minutes throughout the day, not hours at the end of it.

“This takes practice. Don’t discourage yourself if you don’t get it every time, eventually it will come more naturally.”  

And it does. Over the months, Yuu feels more productive than ever, even finding time to wonder about her own style. It is a bit embarrassing when Vil enters Ramshackle to use the Guest Room to study and sees her hastily trying to wash off eyeshadow. 

“Oh, spudling, not your color. No, no, here.” He sits, and teaches, a bit harshly at times, but he wouldn’t be Vil if he wasn’t direct. Much like Riddle, he fully believes that people can reach his level, and sees no reason why they shouldn’t. And while Yuu will never be Vil pretty, she certainly feels more beautiful and confident now than she ever has before.  

It isn’t until Vil is reviewing one of his performances that Yuu makes a comment, some offhand remark about the script not quite matching the vernacular expected for the period, that he invites her to sit and review more.  

Yuu doesn’t think it’s anything spectular, it’s kind of obvious, but apparently it wasn’t to the rest of the audience.  

Vil sits at thier usual tea table in the Night Raven Gardens, and slides a ticket over to her.  

“If you have time. I know you recently picked up a few photography jobs in town that would be a shame to miss. Rapport with clients is key, you know.”  

It’s the red-carpet event to a 5th year anniversary movie he did as a child. All glitz and glam, showing just how much they have grown as actors and people since their debuts. It’s a milestone even for Vil, the first and only role where he was played a supporting role that wasn’t a villain or antagonist.  

“What colors are you wearing? I might have something that compliments.” Yuu asks, already going through their mind for anything suitable in Ramshackle.  

“Well,” Vil preens, opening his laptop. “We will just have to buy something together to ensure we match, won’t we? When are you free?” 

It’s so small Yuu almost misses it, but hidden underneath his painted blush is a heated blush, quiet and pink and delighted.  

Floyd Leech

“Floyd, can I ask you a question?”   

Floyd doesn’t even bother looking up from his spot at the table, “Better not be a boring question Shrimpy, or I’ll squeeze ya~” 

“Where do you go to get your shoes repaired?”  

His head snaps up just a bit, left eye brighter than usual.  

“Ace had mentioned that your sole had torn during practice,” Yuu continues, feeling like they have to explain themselves with how intensely he was staring, “But the next day it had been stitched back on like new. There are some fantastic leather boots from the old NRC uniforms that I'd love to use, but I’m trying to find somebody who won’t butcher them or tell me they aren’t repairable just cause there old or out of style, you know?”  

Floyd nods, eyes still searching before ultimately just shrugging his shoulders. “Hmmm...at least it wasn’t boring. Meet at Monstro Lounge at 6 lil’ Shrimpy, bring the shoes!”  

He walks away before Yuu can even say that they have to meet with somebody else, but that really isn’t a possibility when a Leech brother has demanded your attention. Looks like you’ll have to reschedule with Deuce.  

The Monstro Lounge is fairly steady, though Yuu has never seen it slow. Always some sort of deal or exclusive that sets these rich bastards running through the doors, even if it’s just so they don’t have to deal with the lines in the cafeteria or cook their own food.  

Jade waves you in, taking the box from your hands in a gentlemanly manner, and leading you to the side. Floyd is quick to intercept, mumbling a thank you before his long strides leave you almost jogging.  

“Alright, let’s see what we are working with.”  

The dorm is clearly shared between him and Jade. Crisp white walls, a seashell and sea motif on the desk and headboard and some floating shelves that look vaguely like drift wood, exactly what she expected from Octanvinelle. But that’s about all the two sides have in common. Jade’s is organized, of course, but notable is the terrariums on the shelves and a stack of geology books tucked into the corner, along with photos of places he may have been or plans to go.

Floyd’s half is a mess, yes, but it’s organized chaos, like looking at Ace and Deuce’s dorm. High protein snacks are tucked on the shelves, completed 3D puzzles, and...fashion magazines? Huh, he did say that merpeople didn’t really have a reason to wear clothes so land peoples being so obsessed with it would be interesting, especially in different regions or cultures. And the trends are constantly changing. It actually started fitting, the more Yuu thought about it.  

Floyd set the box on the desk, picking up the shoes and bending them this way and that, pressing on the heel or pinches the toe.  

“You’ve taken good care of them,” He says, “The stitches are loose and the nails need to be hammered back in, but the leather is clean and strong. I’d get some new leather laces though, the wax on these has completely frayed from misuse. How old are these?”  

“They're from back when Ezra and the others went to school, but they don’t have a great concept of time.” Floyd raises an eyebrow. “Oh, the ghosts at Ramshackle.”  

“Huh, no wonder it felt like the place was trying to kick us out.” Floyd walks over to the walk-in closet and Yuu has to double take. She would have mistaken the closet for Jade’s! On the left, the clothes are hung neatly on the rack except for the everyday items like the basketball or school uniform which have their own spots hung neatly on the door itself. Below that are clear boxes that seem to hold all sort of tools. Are these hobbies that Floyd has picked up and gotten bored with?

But the right side of the walk in closet is just racks and racks of shoes. Wing tip dress, loafers, even a few kitten heels and red backed stiletos. All perfectly shined and displayed.  

“Floyd, you repair your own shoes?” Yuu taking the box he hands her.

“When you are as tall as me and Jade, you end up having to customize and fix a lot of your own clothes, unless you wanna pay some stupid prices, and standing there while they pin and stuff is boring. I’d rather just do it myself.” He takes out a wicked looking needle and a stand, securing it to the desk with a flick of a lever. “Which pair is your size?”  

“Oh, these.” she says, picking up a pair of loafers and ankle boots. “I can’t afford for you to do this for me Floyd. I don’t have the funds right now.” 

He just leans against the table with a laugh, “Oh, I aint doin’ it for free. Your gonna pay me by letting me keep a pair, specifically those.”

He points to the bottom of the box, a pair of thigh high riding boots from what she can tell.  

“Those are the ones in the worst shape?”  

“Oh, I won’t be able to get them to their original form, but I can lengthen the sole and toe area a bit, add a heel, and have a wicked pair of thighs high stilettos that’ll have even Betta fish jealous~” 

“With your legs, you’d look really good in a skirt.”  

They both blink.  

“Shit, sorry, my mouth ran-” Floyd laughs, something softer than usual.  

“Your damn right Shrimpy.” He smiles, “I do look damn good in a skirt. I prefer dresses though.”  

He takes a seat, motioning for her to take the other side, sets the shoe inside the stand, and starts explaining the process. It doesn’t always make sense but he’s clearly passionate about it.  

This might be a truer version of him, Yuu thinks, seeing him carefully take out a rusted nail to pull out a fresh silver one from an even smaller box. One that isn’t bored or moody, but just...getting able to do something that actually interests him.  

“Hey Floyd. Do you want to go thrifting with me and Kalim on Sunday? I think you’d have some interesting things to say about some of the finds, especially the clothes mart. They literally have a bin of vintage pieces for a dollar a piece.”  

He leans back, and does that smile again. All teeth but his eyes relax, all boyishly charming.  

“You got all the audacity in the world, don’t you?” He chuckles, “I’ll get my shift covered.”

anyways, whether or not you consider yourself a gamer in this scenario, you’ve always been pretty down to play videogames with max.

i mean, like, you never even fully considered that you could sim race at all, like not for leisure at least

at first, whenever max would stream you would probably be doing other things with your time

not that you wouldn’t before, but they were fairly surface level; now you’re asking him about tactics, strategies, and track conditions etc.

he eagerly answers all your questions (maxplaning 🥱), going way more into depth than you were expecting, but what did you think was going to happen

max is always happy to ramble about any small facet of virtual racing (doesn’t matter if it’s the sim, or iracing, or f1 2023) but

it makes him really pleased that you’re showing a genuine interest in it because most people don’t

eventually max finally allows you to play on the sim after he thinks you’ve got the theory down pretty good

but then you start clocking in some hours

after work, during your “lunch break”, using the sim while max is gone and playing during all the practice and media sessions

whenever max is gone, and you have any questions or ask for feedback on how to get better, you text him all about it, of course not expecting an immediate response back

max has told you before that he likes getting out of the car after a practice session and checking his phone to see all the missed messages from you with some wishing him luck and the others asking for his thoughts on your strategies

one day, he’s going for lunch with some of the other drivers and they start to make fun of him for how he’s stuck in his phone, heart-eyes and all as he rapidly texts you

they probably think that you’re sending him cute texts or photos like that one time they caught him looking at photos of you and learned he had a locked photo album of you on his phone ☠️

max remains unbothered under their teasing thinking, “they don’t know my gf can out pace them by .200 in f1 2023”

max even personally bothers christian into getting him another sim for you

Whether you want to turn your own recipes into a cookbook as a family keepsake, or work with a publisher to get the most viral recipes from your blog onto paper and into bookstores, making a cookbook is often a fun but work-intensive process.

How to Make a Cookbook

The process of making a cookbook will depend on your publishing route, but in general you’ll need to work through the following steps:

Concept: The first step of making a cookbook is to figure out what kind of cookbook this will be. Your cookbook can focus on a single ingredient, meal, region, or culture. It can be an educational tome for beginners, or a slapdash collection of family favorites for your relatives. If you’re looking to get your cookbook published, a book proposal is a necessary step towards getting a book deal, and can also help you pin down your concept.

Compile recipes: If you’ve been dreaming of writing a cookbook, chances are you probably already know some recipes that have to be included. Make a list of those important recipes and use that as a jumping-off point to brainstorm how your cookbook will be organized and what other recipes need to be developed. If you’re compiling a community cookbook, reach out to your community members and assemble their recipes.

Outline: Based on your guiding concept and key recipes, make a rough table of contents. Possibly the most common way to divide a cookbook is into meals (appetizers, breakfast, lunch, dinner) but cookbooks can also be divided by season, raw ingredients (vegetables, fish, beef), cooking techniques, or some other narrative structure.

Things to Consider Before Making a Cookbook

Before embarking on your cookbook project, it’s a good idea to get organized, and to figure out what kind of cookbook you want to make.

Photography: More so than other texts, cookbooks often include visual accompaniment. Beautiful pages of full-color photos are expensive, which is one reason publishers like to work with bloggers who can style and photograph their own food. Not all cookbooks need photos, however. Some of the most iconic cookbooks rely on illustrations, or words alone. Figure out what role, if any, visuals will play in your book.

Audience: Are you turning recipe cards into a keepsake family cookbook, or selling this cookbook nationwide? Fantasy high au where over the course of four years, The Bad Kids all end up with online followers for wildly different reasons, and it makes the rest of Solace realise that this disaster group of teenagers are responsible for their continued existence (many times over).

-As in canon, Fig has all her music accounts. However, they all link to her personal accounts (not including any from before freshman year). On her personals, there are plenty of clips of her and the rest of the BK, starting halfway through Freshman year. She has a Fantasy YouTube account where she shows concert clips and music demos, but also running complications of each bad kid being cool/stupid/insane. The highest viewed video is Riz and Adaine pulling Fig into a magic debate, with the quote ‘someone get Kristin, I think they might actually kill each other’.

-Kristin actually gets involved on social media at the end of Freshman year. She starts with taking about her deity ‘yes!’ but also includes stories about unlearning toxic religious teachings, and how to deal with changing/leaving a religion. She gets a lot of ex-religious followers, although few of them actually follow ‘yes!’ When she starts talking about Cassandra at the end of Junior year, a lot of her followers get behind it. Highest viewed video is introducing her Sibling Bucky, who talks about following an older sibling who’s been denounced and escaping a religion as a pattern in families.

-Riz starts his social medias during the summer of Freshman year, when he gets his license and starts getting clients. He has a separate, personal Fantasy YouTube account that’s a mix of reviewing mystery-genre media (books, films, ect), and advice for adventurers (think Polygon Unravelled meets Monster manual guides). Highest video is rating all the enemies the BK’s have fought in their time, with the quote ‘Porter was strong, but he also relied on angry teenagers to be subtle and organised, so that’s a flaw.’

-Adaine is next, takes an idea from Riz and talked about her favourite media, as well as advice to other Wizards. Guides on memorising spell chants. Organising material components. She has Jawbone on some videos to talk about how to deal with the mental effects of adventuring. Most of her videos are very calm and easy to listen to, with a few insane clips of the BK’s thrown in, usually when demonstrating a spell. Highest viewed video is a blurry clip of a car on fire. In the background, Fig is howling laughing. We hear Riz say ‘what have we learned.’ The camera flips, and Adaine’s blank face says ‘do not punch a car to see how far it’s thrown.’ End clip.

-Fabian is terminally offline, and only joins the others online at the end of Sophmore year. His videos are a mix of dancing and fighting techniques. He goes through steps easily, from beginner to expert. His fighting videos include the rest of the bad kids as opponents. He sometimes does talk over them to give advice, but there are also complete dances and fights set to music with no talking. Highest viewed video is his first dance with Mazey. It’s not a ‘couple dance’ it’s almost like breakdancing, but you can tell the two have high chemistry together.

-The group channel is started at the beginning of Junior year. It’s mostly clip compilations, to begin with, since everyone is incredibly stressed and busy, but as the year goes on there’s videos of the snowball fight at moonar yulenear, the frostyfair. Debates between Riz and Adaine, Godess talks with Fig and Kristin. At least half of their videos are the BK’s doing something insane and documenting results, ranging from ‘fantasy jackass’ to ‘fantasy myth busters’ depending on who’s involved. Highest viewed video is Fig surfing a lava river, following Fabian who is riding the Hangman through the same river like a jetski. Adaine is standing on the other bank, holding an ice bag.

-Gorgug is surprisingly last. The audience know about him, he’s appeared in Figs music, Fabian’s fighting, Riz talked about his gadgets and the group channel includes him as much as the rest of the BKs. He just doesn’t really think there’s anything for him to have his own channel for. Until there’s a group video where Fig needs a gadget, and the audience get to see Gorgug’s workshop, where he’s currently working on a robotic, fox-like creature that jumps up on Fig when she walks in. His channel is sort of a Michael Reeves type, where he does such impressive engineering for the most insane reasons. Highest viewed video is a workshop tour that includes three fires, at least one of which is Figs fault. The thumbnail is Gorgug watching the fire on his desk with a completely straight face.

heeseung stood just outside the entrance of the ice skating rink, his heart pounding harder than the bass from the speakers set up for yn’s stream. the lights inside twinkled like stars against the freshly frozen ice, and the excited chatter of her roommates filled the air, creating a vibrant backdrop for this evening.

“dude, you good?” beomgyu nudged hee’s shoulder, breaking him out of his thoughts. gyu had just finished lacing up his skates and wore that signature playful smirk. “you look like you’re preparing for battle or something.”

“shut up,” heeseung chuckled, trying to shake off the nerves. he glanced over at yn, who was animately setting up her stream with her friends. something was captivating about the way you moved, your laughter infectious as you turned every technical hiccup into a moment of playful banter with your viewers. 

“come on, let’s not keep her waiting!” gyu nudged heeseung forward, and he stepped inside, sliding onto the ice with a bit more clumsiness than he had hoped for. the moment his skates met the ice, excitement bloomed within him, masked slightly by the awkwardness of balancing.

“welcome to my ice skating stream, everyone!” yn’s voice rang out, bright and cheerful. heeseung gazed at you as you looked at the camera, a glorious smile lighting up your face as the beanie atop your head slipped slightly. his heart did that weird little skip thing again–was it just nerves, or was that smile exceptionally radiant?

“hey, yn!” hee called out from a few feet away. you turned, your eyes lighting up as they met his, a warmth flooding through his chest.

“heeseung! You made it!” your grin widened as you skated closer, elegantly dodging a klutzy yunjin who had just lost her footing. “not going to lie i didn’t think you’d actually come!”

“wouldn’t miss it for the world, especially after you filled out my epic google form,” he joked, and you threw your head back in laughter, making his heart swell.

the group spent the first few moments getting their bearings, the air filled with playful shouts as everyone pushed each other around the rink. beomgyu attempted some spins he once saw sunghoon do, and hee couldn’t help but laugh as he fumbled, nearly crashing into yuqi and sanha, who mocked his performance.

suddenly, you shouted, “race you to the other end!” before pushing off, gliding with surprising grace across the ice. heeseung was quick to follow, adrenaline pumping as he chased after you.

but just as he caught up, your feet slipped out from under you, and you landed, with a soft thud on the ice. “Yn!” heeseung exclaimed, immediately skidding to your side and kneeling down. “Are you okay?”

“I’m… fine, just a little ice shower!” you giggled, brushing the light sprinkly of snow off your pants. 

“here, let me help.” heeseung reached out a hand, and the moment your fingers touched, something stirred inside him that he hadn’t anticipated. it was just a simple gesture, but the warmth traveled up his arm to his cheeks as he gently pulled you up, trying to shake off the goofy feelings swelling up inside. the moment lingered a heartbeat longer than necessary as their eyes met, a scrape and thud on the ice just a short distance away breaking the spell.

“thanks, heeseung! my ice knight in shining armor!” you teased, a grin spreading across his face.

the rest of the stream panned out into a blur of laughter, ice skates gliding, and ever-so-graceful falls. despite having some skills from past skating outings, hee felt like a beginner all over again after getting caught up in the moment with yn.

lost in thought, your figures became nearly intertwined once more as you sped toward the edge of the rink. his heart raced; the space felt too small but impossibly perfect. your laughter filling his ears as you spun and stumbled, his breath hitching for a moment as you came to a stop, mere inches apart.

“I really had no idea this would be so much fun,” he said, breaking the momentary silence, his voice slightly shaky. “thanks for inviting me.”

“of course! I’m glad you came. it’s not every day i get to skate with *THE* heeplays” you replied, your eyes sparkling mischievously.

at that instance, everything faded except for you–laughter, noise, and the chatter of your friends blurred into the background, leaving just the two of you. the shimmering ice beneath your skates felt both foreign and familiar, a place where the world seemed to stand still.

Got any newbie tips for dream game? I've been playin' for a few hours and I'm totally lost annnnd the wiki isn't very helpful

i'm not sure.. what tips to give whether you mean it lore understanding wise or gameplay wise so i'll try to keep it general.

BUT IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING MORE SPECIFIC IN MIND, PLEASE ASK THAT.. if you need help with something i am more than happy to show you in game.

i'm assuming that you're playing in a private server since that is the recommended way to play the game, public servers become more of a social game.

if you're looking for more of a lore understanding of what is going on in dream game, i'd have to recommend reading and looking at things around windy island before even sleeping as there is a good amount of information missing.

the pools outside of the 12th mansion allow you to force certain surface dreams to visit by changing the numbers on them to match a dream's code from left to write. these dream codes can be found around windy island but for convenience sake, these codes as well as the dreams that they correspond to can be found on this page of the wiki in surface dreams. when you insert the code correctly, a sound cue will play.

more under cut for sake of it's going to be a little long.

i'd also recommend if you're looking to explore certain depth dreams that you force the surface dream pink swamp ( which has a pond code of 1, 2, 7 ) to obtain a mysterious crystal.

and to obtain a mysterious crystal in pink swamp, they can be found in this cave.

when you enter you'll find a the crystal machine giver, and interacting with this button will give you one crystal. obtaining certain badges will give you more ways to obtain crystals without having to constantly revisit pink swamp in one session but for now we'll keep it simple.

these mysterious crystals are used to put into depth orbs which will activate depth dreams which give you a sound cue upon activating them, so the next time you wake up and go to sleep, you will wake up in that respective depth orb's depth dream.

( example of what a depth orb looks like. some orbs might looks similar to depth orbs like the very large ones found in lower ten mou but arent actually )

i'd also recommend for exploration purposes that you obtain the pie in the dream ten mou, which is found in upper ten mou. it's kind of.. essential that you learn how to pie hike.

..my tip for pie hiking is to angle your camera down, it helps the pies get into a better / safer angle for you to stand on. you should also probably get used to changing the way that your character is standing / facing to get a better pie throwing angle as well as understanding where your pie will land if you threw it jumping or not.

pies fall off after awhile so keep that in mind.

i am sort of running out of.. general tips, i dont want to get too specific as i dont want to pinhole you to a certain thing to do. so i have 2 last things.

i would recommend when you find your way to the main island in graveyard sea to purchase the x2 repose slice cake. reposes are everytime you wake up / go to sleep and you can use these reposes to purchase certain things.

for example, these permanent upgrades. you of course are not required to obtain these, but they would be nice to obtain.

for last, if you are done mainly exploring.. from there you can aim for badges to obtain as MOST badges reward you with an item permanently.

these 2 badges are the ones beginners usually get. the ways to obtain these badges and every other badge can be found on the miraheze / wiki. there are also tutorials on youtube you can look up if you need visuals if the instructions are unclear.

while its encouraged to try exploring and figuring things out on your own, it's understandable if things get really confusing so it's okay to seek out guidance in these ways.

i'll reiterate that i'm.. unsure by what's meant by newbie tips but i hope these help. if you need something in specifics, please specify.

HGUC 1/144 E.F.S.F Mass-Production Locality Specialization Type Mobile Suit RGM-79D "GM Cold Districts Type"

More GMs!!! I had a lot of fun with the old 2001 GM, the new 2023 'The Origin' GM Missile Pod, and the GM Sniper II, so of course I had to continue the collection.

The GM Cold Districts Type is a suit that briefly appears in the opening scene of the OVA "0080: War in the Pocket". It's a pretty basic redesign of the classic GM, with the large star removed from the shield, and extra vents added to the face (resembling the GM Sniper II from the same series) and shoulders, and an antenna added to the back of the head.

This kit in particular is from 2003 and reuses a lot of the moulds from the 2001 GM kit. However, this kit seems to have a lot of drawbacks as well. While the shoulders have been competent redesigned in a manner that resembles more contemporary kits (and makes them much more secure), the actual shoulder joint is a peg directly moulded into the torso rather than being a ball joint or hinged peg like most other kits. This gives the shoulders very limited range of movement.

The kit also has the disappointing old solid plastic beam saber, with the hand itself moulded into the saber hilt as well! This is a really bizzare choice even for 2003, so I discarded the beam sabers that came with the kit and re-used a spare from my Origin RX-78-2 alongside a beam effect, which looks a lot better.

I spent a lot of time detailing this kit. I used the old waterslide decal sheet for the 2001 GM rather than the limited foil stickers that came with the kit. I also tried a weathering method @radiofreemagica told me about where i sponged on black onto the sharp angles and high points, then drybrushed over the top with gunmetal. I also sponged on Vallejo pale brown and light rust in key areas to accentuate the weathered effect.

This was my second time using the Tamiya weathering set D on gunpla as well. I used the orange and blue on the gun to give a heat blueing effect, and the "oil stain" pigment worked great over rust areas to even out the light grey plastic.

I think the overall effect worked especially nicely on the darker torso and shield. I also had to paint the face vents, rear camera, back of the shield, and shoulder vents, as well as the yellow waist V logo and the grey border on the bottom two chest vents, so be aware if you're not a fan of colour correcting kits. Also, as always for UC kits, I did the inside of the booster jets in red.

This kit comes with limited hand options, with a single left open hand, left open fist, and right pistol grip, which was a little disappointing as I'm used to at least one open fist for each hand.

It also comes with a really neat machine gun with a large side magazine, triangular stock, and open bolt detail like a Sten MK II, but with an additional underslung grenade launcher.

Unfortunately the stock placement and large square forearms make posing the gun rather difficult, and there's only really one pose that works.

Overall I had a lot of fun building and weathering this kit, and I think I've really improved in making it look less plasticky. I think it's a great kit to round out anyone's collection, although I can't recommend it to gunpla beginners.

“okay kats just follow me” you said softly standing in front of the mirror and watching him through the reflection. you did basic dance moves, easy enough for a beginner so katsuki can get the hang of it, but he ultimately fails, again.

“okay sweets we all know i dont have the proper balance that you do” he says putting his hands on his hips and sighing out in frustration. “wanna take a break?” you ask him sweetly and he nods.

he walks towards you and places his hands gently on your shoulders. he stares at you and a slight smile creeps onto his face. he pulls you into a hug and you wrap your arms around his neck to hug him back.

“whats this for kats?” you asked closing your eyes and relishing the hug. “cant hug my girlfriend?” he says and you laugh softly. you pull away and look up at him.

he looks down at you with the softest eyes you’ve ever seen him with. he sighs out softly and reaches to tuck a piece of hair behind your ear. he doesnt directly say the words but in this moment, just by the way he’s looking at you, you know what he’s trying to say.

“wanna go get food?” you ask him and he nods his head. you clean up and change, immediately walking out and heading down to the on campus cafe. “hey denks, eiji!” you said waving at them with a big smile on your face.

“y/n!” they said together pulling you into a hug. “and katsuki” katsuki grumbles out and you laugh softly. “we got a booth, sero, shoto, jiro, and mina should be coming in soon” denki says leaving his bag in the booth as a placeholder.

“cool do you want us to stay while you both get food?” you asked them and they nod their heads. “thanks y/n” eijiro said and got in line with denki. you and katsuki sit next to each other waiting for them to come back.

“i didnt agree to this” he mumbled out looking at you. “i wanted my food” he says and you smile at him. “youre funny” you said kissing his cheek.

katsuki pulls out his phone and opens his camera app. “say cheese” he says holding the phone out to take a picture of the both of you. “cheese” you say smiling and katsuki snaps it.

you kiss his cheek and he snaps another picture. he turns to look at you and plants a kiss on your lips, snapping another picture. he puts his phone down without pulling away and you giggle into the kiss.

“woah are we interrupting something” hanta says as he, shoto, and mina join you guys at the table. katsuki pulls away and gives you a look and narrows his eyes at his friends. “nope!” you said cheeks heating up.

“im absolutely dreading finals” sero whines and removes his scarf and coat. “you gotta pass if youre the one designing our future buildings” denki says as he and eijiro come back. denki gives jiro a forehead kiss and eiji gives mina a sweet small kiss.

“you all go get food were here to watch the table” eijiro says to you all. “here babe” he says and gives his ID card to mina. denki hands his over to jiro and she takes it, following after all of you.

you and katsuki order your food, him paying with his meal swipes how generous. you stand with katsuki waiting for your names to be called. your phone vibrates in your pocket and you pull it out to see what it is.

you looked up at him as he stares ahead, one arm draped around your waist and he’s fighting off a smile. you open it to see and its the photo you both just took. the kissing one.

you look up and see he’s added it to a highlight and added a song. no. 1 party anthem. he wrote something and you almost missed it completely.

you liked it and turned your phone off, looking up at katsuki. “youre adorable” you said smiling up at him. he looks down at you and maintains eye contact. he leans down to plant a small kiss on your lips.

“katsuki!” a worker yells out and you both move to grab both dishes and return back to the booth. “awww bakubro” eijiro says sliding his phone over the table.

he doesnt say anything, his faint smile present. “aww he’s in love” sero teased as he came back with his food sliding into the booth, next to you. everyone comes back to the table and sits happily, chatting.

“we need to find you a girl man” kirishima says pointing his fork at sero. he shakes his head taking a sip of his drink. “as much as that sounds awesome, i cannot take the responsibility of a boyfriend role at the moment” he shakes his head.

“aw look at that being responsible” you teased and he gave you a deadpanned look. “i think its cause he’s probably too stupid to hold a relationship on top of school” jiro smirked and everyone starts laughing.

“you guys are mean” sero says crossing his arms, offended. after eating dinner with your friends, you all went back to the dorms for a movie night.

you skipped along with mina and jiro, giggling about everything.

you lay in katsuki’s dorm room watching him play video games with kirishima, denki, and sero. you wear katsuki’s big track and field sweatshirt he bought at the beginning of the school year.

you got up and moved to sit in his lap as he continues shooting while sero yells at denki through the headphones. he puts a hand on your waist and you lean your head on his shoulder.

“almost done kats?” you asked him and he doesnt respond. “alright im off” he announces and immediately gets off the game. he turns to you and sighs softly.

he looks at you with tired eyes, but always remains that look he has when he stares at you. the look of love. he leans over and presses a kiss to your lips. you return it back, softly holding onto the back of his head. your nails raked his scalp and he groans.

you pull away and get up, pulling him with you. “wanna see some choreography i have figured out?” you asked him as he takes a seat on his bed. “go crazy sweets” he smiles at you, eyes remained on your figure to let you know he’s watching with intent.

you danced around in his room and his eyes lit up everytime you did something impressive. you stood there huffinf for air as you looked at katsuki. “hey sweets a question” he says with a smirk.

“shoot” you said tilting your head to the side. “youre wearing this big sweatshirt, a nice one at that, with no shorts on?” he says leaning his arms on his knees and tilting his head to the side with the biggest smirk ever.

your face immediately heats up and you cover your face while turning away from him. “no dont get all shy with me” he says grabbing your hands and pulling you closer to him.

you stand in between his legs and he smiles up at you, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. “its okay just teasing” he whispers to you and you smile. he positions you to straddle him and you smile down at him.

“im tired” you breathed out and he nodded his head. he grabbed you tightly and positioned the both of you to finally get some rest. you cuddled into his chest and he wrapped his arm around you.

“i love you kats” you whispered out into the quiet dark room. “i love you sweets” he whispered back and placed a loving kiss on your forehead.

“what is sex like?” you asked as you stormed into the on campus cafe and spotted your girls at a booth. “woah” momo said and turned the other way. toru moved over to make some space for you to sit.

“why you askin’?” mina smirked and you looked at the girls with urgency written on your face. sero and todoroki being in the booth over, listened intently.

“i wanna jump to the next step with kats” you said shyly and all the girls squealed with happiness. “our make out sessions have been getting steamier by the minute and i cant take it anymore” you sighed frustrated.

“yea girl you need some action” jiro says and the girls nod. momo looks flustered as she drinks her tea and looks down at her human anatomy textbook.

“okay miss textbook dont act like you and iida havent done anything” mina points her fork accusingly at momo. momo only looks away as the girls giggle.

“just talk to bakugo about it, im sure he’s been waiting patiently about this too” ochaco says softly and the girls agree.

“okay” you smiled and got up. “wait now?” toru asks and you shook your head no. “im getting coffee. need to hype myself up a bit” you breathed out and got in line for coffee.

later that day, you were in your room, doing your research. a knock on your door dragged you out of your thoughts as you closed your computer and moved to open the door.

katsuki was on the other side and you immediately let him in. “whatcha doin princess?” he asks you placing a kiss on your lips, letting it linger. “hm? doing homework” you said pointing at your laptop and grabbing it putting it on your desk.

“and what brings you here handsome?” you asked him, hands on your hips. “cant spend time with my pretty girlfriend?” he asks getting closer to you.

he puts his hands on your hips and you smile up at him. “here for a makeout session?” you asked him getting on your tip toes to kiss him. he kisses back and your hands tangle in his hair.

you pull away to look at him and you decide to just go for it. you grab the hem of his shirt and pull it over his head, discarding it on your floor. you stare at his bare chest, breathing heavily and you smile.

“that okay?” you ask him and he gets closer smirking down at you. “is the door locked?” he asks you and you glance over his shoulder. “no” you said and he picks you up, your legs wrapping around his waist as he moves to lock it.

“where were we” he says before locking lips with you again. he tugs on your sweatshirt and you pull away to help him remove it. “we really doing this?” he asks you with reassuring eyes. “fuck yes finally” you giggle out kissing him again as he leads you towards your bed, dropping you softly as he climbs over you.

you lay in your bed together, pastel yellow sheets covering your naked bodies. youre in katsuki’s arms as he brushed your hair softly away from your face. “how was it?” he asks you quietly as he traced circles on your bare waist.

“it was great” you said looking up at him. he smiles down at you and cups your face gently. “im happy you are my firsts for everything” he says sighing contently. “im happy you are my firsts for everything too kats” you said pressing a kiss to his lips.

“and it has to stay that way got it?” he tells you and you nod your head. “was planning on it silly” you giggle pulling him in. “i love you kats” you said with a huge smile on your face as you pressed a kiss to his neck (where you left a mark).

“i love you more sweets” he said kissing your neck as he pulled you in closer. “having a sex conversation in public is crazy no?” he says in a teasing tone and you whip your head to look at him.

“what?!” you exclaimed sitting up slightly and resting your head against your hand. in this position your right boob pops out from under your comforter, katsuki looks down at it and back up to your eyes.

“sero and todoroki overheard and reported back to me. honestly you could’ve talked to me about it from the beginning, i wanted you to say something or make the first move to know it was okay to do it” he said sincerely rubbing your shoulder comfortably.

“put that away” he mutters tucking your boob into the comforter. you burst out laughing as katsuki does too. he stops laughing and stares at you.

Palmistry 101

Alrighty y’all so this is the first informational post in my palmistry post series, where I share my personal notes and information I’ve gathered through experience as a semi-professional palmist. The first post, Palmistry 100, is available here if you’d like to read it.

This post will be a bit long, so everything is available under the cut!

Okay so the first thing we’ll cover is which hand to read. Short answer? We absolutely read both hands. We do this to get a more complete and full understanding of someone’s personality. The dominant hand shows the outward personality, actions, and what they’ve done with what they were given, sorta like the sun sign in astrology. The non-dominant hand shows the more inner workings, someone’s inclinations, and more of their way of thinking/reflections, sorta like the moon sign in astrology. Think conscious versus subconscious. So what do we do if someone is ambidextrous? First, I ask them which hand they default to when it comes to writing. Most of the time, they will tell you clearly. On the rare chance that someone says they write with both, check the flexibility of their thumb—the hand with the less flexible thumb is their dominant hand.

That’s cool, now we know to read both hands, now what? How do we study this before going out into the world offering our friends and families readings? Because that’s a lot of pressure. Slow down there tiger, you’ve probably got a long way before doing an in-person reading, especially for someone with a lot of questions. The best way to study palms can be broken down into 2.5 parts.

Number 1, take a print! All you need is some paper and ink. Cover your hand in ink (one at a time of course) and push firmly into the paper. If done correctly, you should be able to clearly see the lines in your hands and even your finger prints and palmar ridges. Here’s an example:

Prints are fantastic for learning, because not only are you able to clearly see the lines and use them as a reference for study, but now you have a print that you can use to compare your hands in the future, because a lot of the lines in your hands will change over time. Having a print allows you to take your time when studying and learning to read palms, much better than asking your curious mom to check her palms and then getting a borage of “What do you see?” and “What does that mean?”

Number 2, pictures! Phone cameras have come a very long way over the years, and most people are able to capture a fairly good image of someone’s palm. The reason this is less preferred than a print is because not only will some of the minor lines and the palmar ridges be basically invisible, but you also won’t be able to measure the fingers against each other (which we’ll get into in a different post). That being said, they’re still a great resource to have, especially if you’re not able to take a print for any variety of valid reasons.

2.5? 2.5 includes pictures of celebrity hands, which can be found accompanying readings from other palmists sometimes, just like is done with celebrity astrology. I would recommend to ignore the other palmist’s reading and just study the palms, especially of the dominant hand, and try to match your findings with the way said celebrity portrays themselves, especially in interviews. For example, Hillary Clinton has a simian line, which in short, makes a lot of sense for her based on her career in politics. Jim Carrey has a long ring finger, sometimes known as the Apollo finger, which is found in a lot of people drawn to being the star of the room, and some people in the public eye like actors and comedians (and I’m not just saying that). You can also find plenty, and I mean plenty, of palm pictures on reddit, specifically r/palmistry, which I will absolutely recommend to beginners as a studying resource once you learn a few things to pinpoint.

So we’ve identified some great ways to get your hands on some other hands, which is fantastic. Learning to read for strangers helps you to build you objectivity when reading—it removes bias from your readings, which sharpens your knowledge on the topic.

In the next post, we’ll begin the discussion on the major lines of the palms, which is where I usually start my readings.

A Guide to Written Roleplay for Beginners

As someone who’s been roleplaying for 15+ years I feel like it’s important to keep this part of the internet alive and welcome newcomers who want to try their hand at it! This post is mainly going to be centered around vernacular and etiquette. If you have any questions please feel free to send me an ask! And if you’re also an experienced role player, share what I miss or your stories from over the years.

Common Vernacular

Canon- The actual story events from the media you are playing in the space of

AU- Alternate Universe, can range from slight differences to canon or be an entirely different world/scenario

Headcanon- What you, as an individual, believe about a character or world you’re playing in. This is not canon, but in general derived from it or sometimes not at all

OC- Original Character

OOC / OoC- Out of Character, this has two meanings depending on context. The first is when you wish to speak with your partner outside of roleplaying or ‘above the table’ if you’re more familiar with DnD terms. The second is when you or your partner is writing a version of the character that is not their Canon selves— of course this only applies to already existing characters

Prompt- The post you or a potential partner make in order to get a roleplay started

Starter- The starting reply to kick off the roleplay

Para- Paragraphs, an older term primarily used on Omegle and sites similar in order to specify the kind of writing style you’d like to do for your roleplay. In this instance, Para means you want writing more akin to how one would write an actual story with prose and dialogue and proper grammar

[Insert number here]+- This means how many paragraphs you or your partner are expecting to be the standard for the roleplay. For some 2-3+ paragraphs work while some people want 4-6+. Sometimes even 8+

Text- Another older term from Omegle and forums to specify writing style. In this instance, Text means one of two things: writing your characters actually texting each other (and usually signing off with their initials at the end of the message ex: I love you, Dean. -C // Don’t do this, Cas. -DW) or writing actions and dialogue without proper grammar or prose (ex: *takes out gun and shoots you* Oh wait this isn’t a camera)

[Insert Genre]!AU- This one is still used in fandom spaces but much less now than before. This is the way people communicate to you succinctly what kind of AU they’re advertising. It can also be used as a way to describe in a single world what your or your partners chosen character’s main attribute is (ex: Pirate!AU, Medieval!AU, Ballerina!Sherlock x Football Player!John, In Love!Light Yagami x Pining!L)

Godmodding- A big no no. This is when you or your partner control a character without the other’s expressed permission. For instance, say you write your character going into a room and picking up an apple and taking a bite. Then your partner sends their reply saying your character starts choking and begs their character to save them. Unless it was explicitly stated before that it was alright for you both or one of you to control both characters, this is godmodding

Multimusing- Playing more than one character

Smutfishing- When you or a potential partner puts this in a prompt, it means to look for smut or NSFW primarily for the roleplay

PWP / PwP- Porn with Plot, this is self explanatory

Lit- Literate, specifying you or your partner want the roleplay to have proper grammar and prose

[Insert age number here]+- You or your partner advertising they prefer either the characters or the person writing themselves to be at or above a certain age (ex: Looking for 21+ partners! // Characters must be at least 18+ for smut)

Bumping- The act of sending a message OOC to check in on a partner who hasn’t replied in a while (ex: Hey just bumping this to check if you were still interested!)

Volleying- When you are both available to immediately reply and can write many replies in quick succession

Matching Length- When you or your partner specifies that they want you to match or get close to matching how many paragraphs they/you are writing

Asterisks and Slashes- Common ways to emphasize a word as though you were italicizing (ex: She looked *beautiful* // She looked /beautiful/)

Ref- Reference or Reference Image, usually you or your partner provides some kind of image of a character being played or setting

Timeskip- When you and your partner decide to skip over a period of time in the roleplay

Etiquette

(These are things I have picked up over the years, they may vary depending on who you interact with)

This is the most important rule to remember: always, ALWAYS, give your partner something to work with for when they write their reply. It is the absolute worst when your partner writes something that effectively shuts out or doesn’t push the scene you’re in forward. From Para to Text, Lit or not, give your partner SOMETHING they can bounce off of. This is improv, writing on the fly! It’s either yes and or no but. Never just one or the other.

Discuss expectations before beginning the roleplay. Some people like to just jump in and reply to a Prompt that already has a Starter attached, but it’s always good to talk OOC beforehand. Telling each other triggers/preferences is important, it doesn’t kill the mood. Whether it’s just setting a standard or literally plotting out the entire story, talk to each other.

Let your partner know when you need a break/hiatus. Another very important rule: Life comes first. It has to. For both you and your partner. You may be at the very climactic moment of your rp, the whole reason for the rp to be done in the first place— only for your partner to say they need to step away for a few days or weeks or (god fucking forbid) months for one reason or another. More often than not people will just silently let roleplays sputter out, try not to take it personally. You have no idea what your partners life is like or what they’re dealing with

NO GODMODDING like seriously just don’t unless you’re allowed. It’s the worst and was very rampant circa 2016

This is more of a rule I like to follow that isn’t shared across the board, but allow your replies to fluctuate in size. For instance, if you’re writing a scene with lots of dialogue, it’s best not to hunker it down with exposition to meet the required length you need to match. And in turn if you’re writing an action scene or a big moment or something very cerebral, write as much as you like! Be sure though to make this clear to your partner and have them agree. There are many people who want to have a certain amount of paragraphs set, usually the lowest is 2-3+

Try not to be too random. You’re writing a story on the fly, not performing in an improv show. Keep to the tone of what you and your partner are doing

Don’t yuck other peoples yums. If you’re not used to seeing extremely NSFW stuff, you are in for an awakening with roleplay. You will discover kinks and fetish you never even knew existed. You will encounter things you are extremely morally opposed to. Unless the site you’re using to rp explicitly states they are not allowed to do the thing they’re advertising in their prompt, it’s game on. Do not connect and lecture them about what they can and can’t do or harass them and make them feel bad

Let your partner know when you love something that they wrote! It’s an incredibly kind thing to do and motivates your partner to keep writing!

If you are underaged, DO NOT roleplay explicitly sexual scenes with an adult and vice versa. I remember what it was like to be a teen and wanting to roleplay with adults because they wrote so much better than other teens. I implore you to resist the temptation. It’s literally illegal! It can also happen on accident sometimes due to anonymity but there have been many times in the past where a parent will find their child’s roleplay, contact the authorities and have the adult arrested despite the adult not realizing that they were roleplaying with a child. Sites that can verify age or just using logic can help avoid this (Omegle, as you can imagine, was notorious for this)

Tell your partner if you don’t like the way a scene is going and you want to change things/retcon. There’s no shame in it and it can actually make the roleplay better for you both

Be flexible, keep an open mind, and have fun! You’re writing a story together, they’re your partner and you are theirs. Enjoy the thrill of seeing and reading your partners reply and coming up with ways as to how to respond
