Sixth Coil Mechanics

since i'm not getting out of the labyrinth any time soon, i thought i'd try to map out how it all works for funsies and how to get around if you want to find all the areas/text

for the most part you don't need to worry about anything other than how to get out (so you don't get in too deep and have to spend 100 actions to get out oopsies), so this is more for anyone interested in finding all the unique areas and text

Basic Navigation

first off, there are FOUR main areas, one for each of the main stats: persuasive, dangerous, shadowy, watchful

you can tell which area you're in by the check on the top available action. so if it's a dangerous check, you're in the dangerous area. those top actions will never take you to another area and are just the default thing to play if there's nothing else interesting

to get between areas you need to use actions that let you go up or down. they only show up at certain airs of the labyrinth and they'll have words like descend, climb, etc

here is a rough map of how the 4 areas connect to each other:

so, for example, if you choose a descend through a trap door type option in watchful, you will end up in dangerous. it you climb up in watchful you will be in shadowy

persuasive is the odd one out as going either up or down from it will take you back to dangerous

rest below the line

Burdens

each area has one item you can pick up, which goes in your burdens slot

shadowy = clinging shadow

persuasive = velvet countenance

dangerous = heavy iron

watchful = predatory clarity

each burden makes the checks harder but increases the rewards you get when you cash out. see the next section for how to get rid of them

Getting Out

every successful action you take gives you +1 coiling ever deeper (little snek icon)

at any point you may start the process of getting out by using the Resolve to leave this place action at the bottom. A successful attempt at that will give you an attribute called Fleeing The Heart. while you have that attribute every successful action will take -1 coiling ever deeper away. when you get rid of all of it, you can leave

there will also be a new option called Shed your burdens. this lets you get rid of your burdens to get out easier if you're stuck (easier checks, not necessarily faster) at the cost of reducing your final reward

update: originally for every point of coiling ever deeper in you went, you had to use an action to go out one (so 100 coiling ever deeper = 100 successful shrine to get out), but a merciful update has made it so that when you obtain fleeing the heart, coiling ever deep is set to 30

Mirror Actions

There are at least 5 mirror actions and I honestly don't know what they do. They are:

bronze mirror

hard mirror

cracked mirror

gold-framed mirror

black mirror

they have really high glassworks checks (at 15 gw i have a 20% chance)

Memory of Light Actions

these are action that show up sometimes based on airs of the labyrinth. they take you between sub areas within the area you're in, but i'm not 100% clear on how that works. they do give you sightings of a parabolan landmark

Gaping Maw Actions

these only show up when you're going into the labyrinth and not when you're coming out. I think they might randomly move you between attribute areas (but sometimes leave you where you are?)

Examine A Sealed Door

This might be the door to the center of the sixth coil, but you can't get in it right now. it only shows up when airs of the labyrinth is exactly 100. There are 99 different flavor texts that can appear within it (the part in italics only). there's a gdoc collecting them all if you want to help out (this is not mine, found on reddit). I will link it in a reblog comment of this post because tumblr doesn't like links in posts despite that being a feature of this completely functional website

Hello! This is my first time requesting something like this so I’m a little bit nervous <:3 But anyway can I request the omori faraway gang (including Mari) with a partner who is just in LOVE with snakes. Like they have several snakes at home, both big and small. She knows all these facts about snakes and how to take care of them. Just a reader who absolutely loves sneks :3

MAIN CAST WITH A READER WHO LOVES SNAKES

OMG SNAKES LOOK SO COOL but I’m absolutely terrified of them honestly . THIS REQUEST IS CUTE THOUGH??? hope u enjoy ! (Spoiler alert: they’re all a bit afraid)

this man SUNNY has definitely never seen a snake personally, i mean he has no reason to after all, he lives in a town! either way he’s probably afraid of them without even realizing it

once he visits your room full of snakes.. he doesn’t move from his place. he’s petrified. you might need to help him walk from his spot at the front of your door.

conclusion: he’s never coming over, which sucks but hey, the man’s afraid after all. sure he had a snake give him daily allowance in his HEADSPACE, but that was in his mind!

AUBREY grew up in FARAWAY TOWN, so she also had no experience with a snake. nobody owned a pet snake until you moved into town (last time i checked). she always listened to when you spoke facts about snakes.

it was weird that you knew so much, she clearly didn’t take the hint that you probably owned one. so when she came over one day… let’s just say AUBREY saw the life flash before her eyes. (exaggeration)

conclusion: she was TERRIFIED at first, but of course you let her know your snakes weren’t venomous. at one point she even held a tiny snake in her hands, until she got too frantic and tried to shake it off. she’s also not letting them around her pet BUN-BUN at all, her bunny is not food for your snakes!

BASIL is a fond of all animals just like he is with plants, but snakes and other scarier animals are just.. scary to him. they are fun to read about.. but to actually meet one in person? he’d die from a heart attack for sure.

even thought that’s the case, he loves hearing all about your snake facts! your conversations are like a deal being made. you give snake facts, and in return basil gives you plant facts. it’s a win-win on both ends. so when he finally comes over and meets all of your snakes..

conclusion: he fainted, well almost. he tried to keep it cool but flinched at every one of them that tried to move. eventually he starts calming down and sees that they’re kinda cute! just.. just don’t ask him to feed them with a dead animal or he’ll actually pass out.

while KEL moved to FARAWAY TOWN when he was just a kid, he had grown accustomed to the town and never expected to meet any strange wild animals. if he did, he would totally go, "woah look! a cool looking bear!"

KEL loves when you rant to him about the snake facts you have up your sleeves! he thinks snakes are so cool and awesome, it’s like he doesn’t even think he’s gonna meet any..! until the day you invited him over.

conclusion: give him time to process the many snakes in your room. he’s gonna think they’re so cool! he definitely the type who goes up to one of them in their glass tank and taps the glass to say, "hey little guy!"

HERO is probably a guy who would pass out the minute he sees an wild animal roaming the streets. thankfully he never had to deal with an exotic animal in his life until.. you came along!

he’s a guy who would ask questions about the things a person is interested in, and would allow them to ramble, so of course he does it with you and your wild facts about snakes! when you asked him to come over, he doesn’t mind and happily says yes! i mean, what could go wrong?

conclusion: you might’ve just given him a new fear. spiders are still his number one enemy but snakes might be in his top 20. of course he tries to like them for your sake but.. it’s hard for him when they’re constantly making noises at him like they wanna bite him..

MARI is someone who’s a fan of regular pets like a cat than exotic ones like a snake. she doesn’t judge though, because it’s MARI after all! you can talk to her about anything and she would always listen!

so of course when you talk about snakes with her, she loves all the snake facts you bring to the table. she’ll even surprise you with a snake fact the next day, she researched it in hopes you enjoyed it! even after all this, she never expected you to actually have snakes in your house until the day she came over..

conclusion: she’s very … flinchy around your snakes at first, so you might wanna help her with that. eventually she’ll grow to love your snakes and start to think they’re adorable the more she focuses on their cute face!

Hi I am about 90% sure I'm asking the right snek tumblr but I follow like. fifty of you. Do you know what X% PH means when it's about morphs? Like I'll see something like idk 50% PH albino and what does that MEAN I've tried to look it up but have found nothing, possibly because I'm searching the wrong terms but who knows.

Hey friend!

PH means "possibly heterozygous," and the percentage is about how possible the heterozygous-ness is.

This comes up when you have one or both parent snakes who are known to be heterozygous for a recessive trait, but it's not certain whether or not their offspring are het since it's not visible. This isn't an arbitrary number nor a guarantee of genetics, it's just a statistical probability that the snake is carrying that gene.

For example, let's say you are breeding two wild-type corn snakes and one is het for the recessive Amelanistic gene. The babies will have a 50/50 chance of inheriting the Amel gene, but they would also be het since they can only get one copy of the trait from the one parent who carries it. Since you can't see a heterozygous recessive trait, all of the babies would be listed as 50% possibly heterozygous for Amelanism, or 50% PH Amel.

If both parents are het for Amel and neither are homozygous, statistically about 1/4 of the babies would be homozygous visual Amel, 2/4 would be heterozygous Amel wild-types, and 1/4 would be of the babies would be wild-types with no heterozygous traits at all. Percentage-wise, the wild-type babies would be 66.667% PH Amel.

Of course, nature doesn't exactly adhere to statistics, so any time you see "PH" consider it a possible bonus or advisement, but not a guarantee of genetics.

Aziraphale is an old man in all aspects except one (biologically), however Crowley is the same age and he would definitely have old man knees. he doesn't know what to do with his joints half of the time due to being snek

yeah there are no books being sold in that bookshop fgfjkfggnv. like, it's all first editions and what-not so i totally get not wanting to give any away but then why open a shop??? instead of a collection???

aziraphale doesn't have a pet (yet) but I think he would love a cat (I mean, he's got Crowley hanging around, basically the same). A tressym is just a very peculiar step up from that (consider: it has it's own wings to match him and Crowley, which is really adorable!!)

crowley's hissy fits are great and can likewise be replaced with Astarion's.

C went out into the middle of the street when he got really frustrated/anxious and exploded lightning from his body

C agreed to take care of the bookshop, not selling any books etc. but tossed any books he was holding into some corner whenever

both of them evaded the immediate ire of their higher ups by pointing out a technicality that amounted to 'this word is explained to be different from the one you're using, but through a miniscule footnote on the last page of this giagantic book'

Aziraphale has an incredible hard time overcoming the trauma and toxic mindset upheld by his superiors, including how he views himself and his partner (that one's just sad, sry)

jungwoo held your hand as he quickly led you through the dark halls. he came to you earlier saying he had found something and that you would have to sneak out past curfew to see it. leave it to jungwoo to find one of hogwarts many secrets. “allohomora.” he whispered the spell to the locked door before gesturing for you to go inside. in the corner of the dark room, you could barely make out the glass. jungwoo muttered a spell and you could finally see it clearly in the new light. it was a mirror. “go look in it.” he urged. you approached it cautiously and saw your own reflection. slowly emerging behind you was jungwoo’s reflection as he approached you, he placed his arms around your waist and began kissing your cheek. however, when you reached a hand up to touch his head you felt nothing. a gasp left your lips as you whipped your head to see that jungwoo was right in the spot you left him and not at your side as the reflection showed you. “it’s the mirror of erised!” you whispered breathless. he grinned as he nodded. “what did you see?” it was a loaded question. the answer could change everything but it was something that was always just bubbling just beneath the surface and it was just a matter of time before it was revealed. “umm… i saw…” you paused. “myself on a hippogriff.” jungwoo chuckled at you, “you do love your magical creatures. maybe hagrid can help you learn to ride one.” you smiled at him before turning to look back at the reflection. “yeah, maybe…”

the world seemed to move in slow motion. one minute mark suspended in mid air and the next he was falling to the ground. you held your breath as you watched the coach rush out to the field where mark laid unconscious. it felt like forever before you heard them yell, “get him to the infirmary!” that was all you needed to start pushing through the crowded stands and rush to meet him at the infirmary. you stood watch at the edge of the room while the nurse tended to him. when she had finished, she turned towards you and nodded, allowing you to come to his bedside. your heart ached seeing him still unconscious and bruised, lying in the cot. she told you he would be fine and left the room. you sunk down into a chair next to the bed and slid your hand into his limp one to bring it to your lips. the next several hours were spent whispering silent prayers to gods you weren’t even sure you believed in but they were calls to bring your mark back to you. you never took your eyes off him. finally as the sky began turning golden, mark began to stir. his eyes fluttered open and as they adjusted he met your gaze. “baby?” he questioned groggily. the breath you had been holding for what felt like an eternity was released. “mark! i’m so glad you’re ok!” the tears you’d held at bay silently fell down your cheeks. “hey,” he shifted, bringing his free hand to stroke your cheek with his thumb. “i’m ok, baby, i promise. don’t cry.” you nodded, trying to smile through the tears. “everything’s ok now.”

the sky was painted in hues of gold and pink as the sun began it’s descent and though you needed to be back on hogwarts grounds soon you were certainly in no rush. haechan walked hand in hand with you as the pair of you stumbled along the dirt path back to your school with your bellies full of the sweetest golden nectar the three broomsticks had to offer. “i think you’re the prettiest.” haechan slurred. “no! i think you’re the prettiest!” you shot back beginning the argument that would stretch for the remainder of the trek. just before you stepped back in the grounds haechan stopped, “no!” you froze with his sudden sternness. he raised his hand to caress your cheek and suddenly the loopy feeling of the alcohol wore off. haechan dissipated the space between you, coming within inches of your face. the fading warm light danced on his bronzed skin making it appear luminous. his chest heaved slightly as whatever distance between the two of you began disappearing and his lips were pressed softly to your. your heart began to race with the touch and you hoped it would never end. all too soon he separated from you but your eyes remained closed and your bare lips chased after his. haechan chuckled at your display and commented, “cute.” that day you learned about a different kind of magic at hogwarts.

Funny pet story (cats and snakes): One day I woke up and my husband was still asleep so I was doing some work outside. My little orange cat ran into the house with something in her mouth. I made her drop it but it slithered into the closet of our office and I couldn't find it. I left a Post-it note on my husband's computer letting him know to be aware of snek. He kept sleeping. The second snake I confiscated as it came in the house. I left another Post-it. The third snake went behind the TV and I managed to sweep it into the dustpan and put it outside. By the time my husband woke up there were four notes for the FOUR snakes Tinycat brought in that day. She was very proud of herself. After the fourth snake I shut her inside to stop her going out to get more.

(No snakes were harmed in the making of this story. I think Tiny believes they are exciting wiggly strings and just wants to play with them. I keep her inside when it's snake weather now because those poor garter snakes don't deserve to be traumatized like that.)

Oh my goodness! Kitty bringing in spicy noodles!!! What a good hunter! How impressive! I like snakes very much so I would have been rather delighted by the gifts provided they were alive. Do you suppose any were the same snake, apprehended by the cat a second time?

There's different types of cats when it comes to hunters. You can tell by the kind of toys they like and the way they tend to attack. Some are mousers, some are birders, and sometimes, just sometimes, you get a snake hunter. Raleigh is a mouser, Sid is a mouser, Etrigan is a birder, and Fancy is a birder and a snaker. (Smooch doesn't have very good vision so he just goes for whatever he can see under his nose.) Fancy popcorns around like a mongoose and smacks her prey into the dirt. Incredible that not only are their instincts so refined, but that some seem almost born to specialize, being good at a certain type either from birth, or maybe taught a particular thing by their mother. (We had birders at my childhood house because our oldest eternal cat taught every kitten who came through the door how to hunt, and she liked taking larger birds like jays and doves. I watched one of her proteges teach her own babies to hunt birds. Grisly but amazing. One of her babies grew up to regularly take whole rabbits. They are devastating to wildlife so I keep mine inside, but I do miss watching cats hunt. They're so amazing.)

Yaaaah! I finally finished one! And because it is my birthday, you will be nice and listen. Like a lot of older Pokemon players, I've found sometimes an extra challenge is in order. Nuzlocke runs are pretty fun, but being honest after a few I learned the real key is patience and so they don't have the same panache. One has eluded me, the Monotype run. Pretty self-explanatory. I couldn't dream of any other type but my beloved Grass buddies. I've tried a few different games but it ends up grinding me out and I lose interest, because this one is a lot harder. So I solved that by trying a game in the series I hadn't actually played yet. Black 2.

Going in largely blind made this one a real test. But it was a game surprisingly conducive to a Grass-only run. You could get a lot early. The test in these compared to a Nuzlocke is you really have to understand the intricacies of the type. Even in Gen 1 where you have limited options, you can't just depend on supereffective shots and having all the best attack moves. You really want to try and diversify, lean into gimmicks and craft a flexible strategy that can handle hurdles.

You can see the final HoF team up above, what ended up making BW2 a good Gen for this was having a lot of options. By the end I had a second team of Grass-Types I could have made. So let's walk through the gang:

Udon the Serperior was my rock, and I knew that'd be the case going in. I've used mostly Grass starters and this big beautiful snek is my favorite. It's like a physical Milotic and that's just so perfect, not a lot of type coverage but Leaf Blade rips through so much backed by the golden combo of status moves in Leech Seed/Coil. That plus Leftovers ensured a strong baseline, and I got a kick out of some of the shenanigans I could pull by rounding it out with Dragon Tail.

Chuggz the Ferrothorn was a project, and one I couldn't have done without the investment. I lagged in the tricky midgame around Skyla the hard flying-type gym largely because I needed to keep the Exp Share on him. But once he hit 40 and evolved he started to dominate. Neutralizing that big poison weakness was crucial to dealing with Team Plasma and so many fights were won off of the classic Iron Barbs/Rocky Helmet combo. Toxic & Ingrain just let this bastard sit there and take abuse, Iron Head and ultimately Thunderbolt also gave me some nice coverage options.

Cabbage the Whimsicott was a great all-around addition. I got one early thanks to the rustling grass feature and while I was initially bummed to not get Prankster as the ability Infiltrator ended up being more important. Because this guy was the big coverage all-star. Kept Leech Seed because it was tanky and sometimes I needed him to set it for Serperior, but moves like Hurricane, Psychic, and Shadow Ball ensured the cotton ball stuck around.

Bongo the Simisage came online late, but ended up being necessary. His speed and moves like Acrobatics and Rock Slide did a lot. But he was such a glass cannon he couldn't do much more than fill in a couple of niche roles. Usually Serperior was just so much of a better physical attacker. What I love about these runs though is how they finally give me an opportunity to use all the other grass types a normal playthrough makes redundant.

Bara the Roserade was one that disappointed me for how long I've thought of trying one. It hit hard as a special attacker, harder than Whimsicott...but Whimsicott could take a hit and was a lot faster. Roserade felt like it'd crumple to even neutral type moves. It did find a great niche though for some specific hurdles. Weather Ball. Thought Sunny Day would be a bigger deal initially, but Rain Dance for troublesome fire moves ended up being the real deal. Also had some fun keeping Toxic Spikes so Serperior could juggle.

Chopper the Sawsbuck...I regret giving him such a cool name. This is one I was excited about trying the run in Unova. I love Stantler in GSC, thought Sawsbuck would be the same. No. He sucked ass. Like, black hole. I couldn't do anything because you'd crumple if another Pokemon sneezed at you, and the one thing I loved in Jump Kick? You kept missing those when we needed them. The only thing he did for the whole E4 run was give me a safe switch and an Aromatherapy setting up Rain Dance for Shantaul's Chandelure.

I also had a Leavanny (Leo) that did work early on. But the strategy worked pretty well. Toxic Spikes and try to check anything in the way of either Serperior or Ferrothorn setting up then grinding opponents out. Surprisingly didn't use status effects much for an all-grass team. Once I got Toxic of course it became a staple but that's late. Leech Seed was crucial though.

Cheren wasn't much trouble but Roxie was such a high wall early. Poison plus needing to get past her for the best options. Burgh was surprisingly easy for an unfavorable matchup, that's where the Leavanny got to shine and Whimsicott made his debut. Elesa's Emogla got a little scary but grass resisting electric helps, Clay got flattened. Skyla's birds might have been too much if they came before I really rounded out the team. Even moreso with Drayden coming right as I finally had Ferrothorn as an option. Then of course Marlon had no chance being a late-game water gym.

~| Very clingy. You will not be able to escape them. It was constrain you in place and rub it's head over your shoulder. If you return their 'hug', it will be very happy.

~| Occasionally, you'll feel their tongue flick out and rub against your cheek or jaw. It's more just teasing you than tasting you.

~| They love it when you kiss them anywhere, but their favorite would be just in front of their ears, below it's temple. It just melts into you then.

~| They'll give a small hiss-laugh every once in a while, mostly before kissing you or snuggling against you.

~| Sometimes it's pet/servant snakes will join in on the cuddles, and you'll have a bunch of little snakes wrapped around your arms, legs, and neck while the big one cuddles your middle. It's practically one big, loving, non-squeezing constriction.

Snake Headcanons Cause He Deserves More Love

• I'm with everyone with the idea of him becoming a tattoo artist. He def started out by doing stick and pokes and worked his way up. He only tattoos the other members of Gangreen Gang though. I can also see him doing mostly traditional Japanese tattoos, it's his way to connect to his Japanese roots.

• Will literally wear anything and everything, no matter what it is, and he damn well knows how to pull a dress/skirt off too. I like to believe that as he got older, he started going down a more alt-esque fashion. I'm not sure what but maybe a mall goth or some type of punk style. But what's gonna stop him from going gothic lolita?

• Also is a makeup pro. Always has a face of makeup on, with painted nails too! Though it can be rough with him having such rugged skin.Will gladly help the gang if they ask him for makeup help. I can see him and Arturo bonding over makeup.

• I see him as being the most cruel of the gang. Like Ace has more empathy than him. I'm sure Snake has a heart at times but I feel that being out on the streets commiting crimes has harden him and made him year for more. He will do anything and everything to get what he wants and to come out on top if that makes sense.

• So with that being said, any type of relationship with him I see as a Romeo and Juliette type situation, or maybe even a Bonnie and Cylde, depending on the S/O. He's the person your parents don't want you being with. There'd be lots of sneaking out, partying, petty crimes, ect. You ain't coming home til the sun starts rising. You'll be out doing all sorts of shenanigans but you'll be having fun regardless.

• Def a protective type, with the gang and a S/O. Will throw hands if anyone messes with the people he loves. He's kinda a weakling so he may not win the fight but it's the thought that counts, right? We love a protective Snek.

• But do remember that sometimes he's not the smartest person in the group at times. He tends to speak before he thinks and will act without realizing, which has lead to many punches from Ace. So because of that, he tends to expect getting hit for his mistakes. He'll love you forever once he realizes that you aren't gonna hurt him for acting/speaking out. Plz give him love :(

• If I'm Correct, in PPGZ his family is wealthy. So I'd like to think that during the summer, his mom would take him to Japan to see his family (no dad though, I just can't really see him having a dad). He hates having to leave the gang for a while but he always makes sure to stay in touch with them and bring them each a gift back so they feel included. And since he goes to Japan so frequently, he has a pretty good with speaking, reading, and writing Japanese (with occasional mistakes). Has probably tried to teach the gang Japanese but failed horribly. Would def teach them curse would and other offensive things.

• Is surprisingly a pretty decent cook. He may not be the best but he at the very least knows what he's doing. He and Billy would be deligated to cooking for the gang, and yes, pink frilly aprons will be worn.

• When it comes to sleeping, his bed is LITTERED with pillows and blankets. Has a heating blanket that is under his sheet he uses to heat his bed up. Will wrap himself in many blankets just to keep warm, since he's constantly cold. May or may not has a stuffed animal in his bed that he got as a gift from his grandma. And you best believe that you'll get a good nights rest in his bed cause of how comfortable it is. Sleeping for him is decent but he tends to have nights where he just can't seem to sleep. Those nights he'll spend with the gang causing mischef.

Level Zeo’s Brilliant Diamond Nuzlocke - Part 2

Hello again.  Welcome back to my Nuzlocke, where I share both my notes about what has happened in the run, as well as my head canons about the personalities of my Pokemon.  If you haven’t seen Part 1, or you need a refresher on the rules/premise/characters, or you just want to read it again because you love me, you can do so HERE.  For everyone else, let’s get into things, shall we?

In part 1, I had just defeated my rival, Melvin.  But I realize that I never went and caught anything on Route 203 after that.  So I do just that.  I sprint around in the grass for a bizarrely long time before running into my first encounter of the update, Orion the Shinx.  He has a Quiet nature and is Alert to Sounds.

Orion’s Thunder Shock makes him very useful against the flying types being used by trainers on this route.  Because of his traits, I see him as a bit of a lazy soul.  Always sleeping, lounging around, coming up with excuses to make myself or Petard carry him around.  But then.  It happens.  A rustle in the grass, a crunch of a twig that no one else notices.  Suddenly Orion is leaping into the fray, blasting whoever dares threaten his new family.

I think that Simmer finally has someone he can connect with.  Him and Orion both enjoy sitting in silence and watching the world around them.  While the others are running about, cracking jokes and itching for a fight, these two sit in the shade and watch.  Only stepping in when the time is right.  Of course, Orion has a lot more courage than Simmer does, and is more likely to jump into battle when necessary.  He’s also more than willing to push his new friend to believe in himself more, and maybe as time goes on it will be something Simmer will take to heart.

With Orion by our side, and with Petard and Boof learning how to use Rollout together, we are able to steamroll through Route 203 and into Oreburgh Gate.  Unfortunately, we won’t be getting any encounters here today, since I already have a Geodude and a Zubat.  Maybe once we can use Rock Smash we can come back and go down a floor, where I can apparently get a Psyduck.

Speaking of Rock Smash, I teach my battle-hardened Boof the move using the TMs I’m given.  I know that the first Gym is rock type, and currently I have three Pokemon who are weak to rock, and two who are weak to ground (which I assume at least one of Roark’s Pokemon has).  This means that currently, Boof is the only Pokemon I have who will (hopefully) be safe, so a fighting move will serve her well.

Upon leaving Oreburgh Gate, I enter the city itself, where I am informed that the Gym Leader is down in the mines.  Entering the worksite with no safety equipment, almost certainly risking injury or black lung, I descend into the depths of the Oreburgh Mine.  After only taking a step or two, I find an Onix as my very first encounter.  I catch her with ease, and obtain Snek, my seventh Pokemon.

I am well aware of the fact that Onix is a bad Pokemon, and I know that she will probably be boxed sooner rather than later, so I decide to let Snek have some time to shine.  Petard is briefly put into the box for a short vacation.  Snek has a Docile nature, and Likes to Run.  Between those and the fact that she jumped out at me immediately upon my entering the area, I see her having the personality of an excitable and loyal dog.  She slithers about the mine as we travel, letting the others ride on her back and even chasing Chips about so they can both get their energy out.

While searching for the Gym Leader, we encounter some miners who are itching for a battle.  The first one pulls out a Machop.  Snek, eager to prove herself, is out first.  Seeing the danger, I switch her out for the equally excitable Chips, who takes a little bit of damage from a Low Kick.  Chips hits the Machop with a Wing Attack for most of its health… and it hits back with a Revenge.

This is what I meant when I said I wouldn’t need set mode for me to lose Pokemon.

Simmer comes in and takes out the Machop, winning us the battle.  But it doesn’t feel like a victory.  I leave the mine with my tail between my legs and go back to the Pokemon Center, sending Chips off to the great PC box in the sky.

I imagine that Simmer takes this very hard.  Chips tried to be Simmer’s friend.  But Simmer just did his best to ignore what he saw as an annoyance.  He and Chips were the first two members of the team, and Simmer never took the time to even get to know him.  And now he was gone.

Petard and Boof are strong souls, they work to keep the team in high spirits.  Even so, Snek is distraught over losing a friend so soon after getting them, and as much as Doc denies it, he loved his little food-stealing minion.  Now there’s only one flier on the team I suppose…

But we don’t have too much time to dwell on this.  At the urging of Orion, I imagine that Simmer would begin devoting himself towards the training of both himself and the team.  He has now seen his fears realized, the result of the dangers of this journey.  So now he can begin working to prevent it from happening again.  He’s still scared, but he has to try, doesn’t he?  The others are all for it, except for Doc.  The Zubat’s words are barbed, making it obvious he blames the Chimchar for the death of Chips.  He’s the starter, he should be the strongest, he should have done something.

Heading north, we enter Route 207.  There, we find an ally who might just help us make it through the upcoming Gym.  Agro the Machop has a Quiet nature and is Very Finicky.  I see him as a stoic warrior, devoted to training, and looking for a group of fellow warriors to join.  The team is willing to oblige, bringing him onto the team (leaving Petard in the box still).

Under Agro’s training, the team begins grinding on Route 207 and in the Oreburgh mine.  Despite his weakness to them, Doc is able to Absorb rock types in the mine.  I probably won’t use him in the Gym, but it's a useful tool to have in my back pocket in case the worst happens.  Since Simmer will be evolving into a fighting type, I picture Agro acting like a mentor to him.  The kind from movies who run their protegee through drill after drill, smacking them with a stick and shouting “AGAIN!”  You know, that sort of thing.  Snek is also able to deal some acceptable damage at this point in the game, and her bulk is nothing to sneeze at.  Hopefully all I will need for the Gym is Agro and maybe Boof, but I will use the rest of my team if I need to, and I need them to be ready.

During this team training, we go back into the mine and find the Gym Leader, who finally goes back to the Gym.  While rushing right in is tempting, I decide that now might be a good time to take a break.  The team definitely needs it before our first Gym Fight.

I’m going to do some grinding to get the team up to around Lvl 14 before continuing.  So next time we will jump straight into the battle with Roark!  I hope you all enjoyed this update.  The first loss in a Nuzlocke is always rough, but I think both gameplay-wise and character-wise, this is something we will be able to move forward from.  Thank you for reading, and I will see you in the next update!

Targaryen Dragons and Their Builds

Types of dragon heads:

Doggo - It seems that the doggo shaped head is the most common, likely because is more attractive to audiences. Among those with doggo head are Balerion, Dreamfyre (I think), Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion.

Snek - the snek-headed dragons have more triangular, more flat heads. These dragons include Caraxes, (possibly) Meleys, Vermax, and Arrax.

NeighNeigh - These dragons have very, very lloooooonnnnnngggggg heads. Included dragons are Vhagar, Vermithor (I think), Syrax, and (possibly) Sunfyre.

Body types:

Birb - Most dragons seem to be built like birbs. Closest build I can think of, off the top of my head, is the parrot. These dragons include basically every one except Vhagar and Caraxes- but Vhagar might just be old.

Dinosaur - Basically, this is a heavier version of a birb. They seem to be built thicker with slightly longer wings. So far, it seems to just be Vhagar.

Snek - The danger noodle of dragons. With ridiculously long necks and leg webbing, these dragons are likely better at gliding- and possibly swimming. Caraxes is the only one so far.

Other Physical Details:

Fin/Comb - like a rooster’s comb… but with a fish’s dorsal fins… most dragons have these. Vhagar, Caraxes, and Meleys don’t have any. Syrax only has two. Everyone else has four.

Spiky Lion Mane - As it says, Meleys has a lion mane made out of spikes. Just her. She seems to be entirely unique- like Caraxes.

Graceful Horns - A lot of dragons seem to have horns, like a goat of some kind, but Syrax and (by the looks of this gif) Sunfyre have much longer protrusions. More like… a different kind of goat…
