listen if you go into g3 thinking it will be just like more episodes of g1 youre gonna be very disappointed. like yeah if I had to choose between them Id choose g1 as it cant be beat, but g3 has its own unique charm and is really good if you accept that the g3 cast isnt gonna be a carbon copy of the g1 cast. they arent meant to be! theyre new takes on their character, by definition, a new generation. yes I still have criticisms for it but also it did a lot of stuff better!

first off, a trans character IN a queer relationship. Ive always related to frankie but gen 3 especially does them so well and no matter what you say them and cleo's relationship is adorable. also I see a lot of you treat them like just a girl who uses they/them pronouns (or ignore that theyre non-binary at all) just because they dress femininely, and I am judging you. their relationship is trixic, not sapphic, and frankie is unlabeled and cleo is bi so theyre not lesbians either. frankie is not your theythem girl or theyfab or whatever. grow up. deuce is also theorized to be trans or intersex and is also canonically aromantic and I fucking love that as well. "b-but my nostalgia abt cleo and deuce" Im still nostalgic about them too and it was nice seeing the "mean girl" and her boyfriend have a healthy relationship but again this is a different take on their character, and I can happily say I could see their g1 versions identify this way as well if mattel wasnt such a coward back then.

next, lagoona. Ill be honest I was one of the biggest haters of g3 lagoona at first, pink skin, vsco girl ass fashion, "this aint my lagoona, she's way less edgier than the others AND g1" Id say, but she really grew on me, and as someone who frequently rewatches g1 as well, I notice she is a LOT more well developed than her g1 counterpart. g3 is fierce and is afraid of no longer being seen as such due to also having "cutesy" interests, and loves graphic novels and sometimes sees them as more true than real life. she also has anxiety and copes with them in an unappealing fashion (chewing). she makes up for her lack of edgy looks with her edgy personality. meanwhile g1 is just.... aussie and loves her boyfriend. g3 is still very sporty and cares for her friends (and crush) a lot, but now has personality past that, she can even find fault in her crush while still loving him, while g1 lagoona just saw gill as the perfect incarnate. g3 just overall, has more fleshed out monsters than g1.

more about deuce, I see a lot of people headcanon him as trans and I love that, but I personally believe he may be intersex. "but both of his parents and his sisters are female, there is no y chromosome in their heritage so how could he develop a y chromosome or testosterone" you may ask, but worry not for I have a biology special interest and am more than willing to explain! deuce's parents are a harpy (bird monster) and a gorgon(snake monster), and both birds and snakes are known to have NOT X and Y chromosomes to determine sex, but Z and W, and it works the other way around! meaning the offspring with zw chromosomes will be female while the offspring with zz chromosomes will be male! and due to deuce being out of the sex norms of both harpies and gorgons (having no males), he is considered intersex! again, I have nothing about his trans headcanons, but him being intersex makes more sense to me. and I LOVE it if thats the intention.

most of my propaganda is reused whole cloth from what ive said for 17 million years of pining, so there will be a significant amount of focus on how long it took them to get together

oh. my god. where the fuck do i start with them for real.

okay so, theyve been friends since early childhood, and before either of them came out (Rashmi is agender, they/them, while Amelie is a trans girl, she/her, and they are in fact canonically bi4pan - or pan4bi, if were going by name order, since Rashmi is pan and Amelie is bi). the earliest time that we know that they have feelings for each other is when theyre both 14, and Rashmi - already out, with their entire family (parents and grandma) supporting them without question - is moving. uhhh 90% of american geography names are the same to me so i might lie there. from Nevada, where they both grew up, to New York, where Rashmi is planning on studying dance further, which has always been their plan; around 14 is when they ran out of teachers at home.

they quietly hope Amelie doesnt confess her feelings for them, as they fear it might tempt them to stay, which they cannot allow themself to do.

Amelie, meanwhile, is very carefully not thinking about gender, because her parents are quite frankly the worst. over the course of the years before they meet back up, Amelie has had some dates, but each time, they dont work out, and in her own words, put logs on the flame she carries for Rashmi.

Rashmi, meanwhile. gets married.

one of Rashmi's biggest struggles in their romantic pursuits has been the fact that they are both Indian and queer. it has been a struggle for them to find someone who respects both - someone who respects their gender identity while not throwing their culture under the bus. that is one of the factors contributing to the way their relationship with "Ajay" (we learn that this name isnt his real one, but it was magically replaced in Rashmi's memories of him and we dont know it) played out: he is also Indian, and the first thing he asked them upon meeting them was what their pronouns were. and it was all good.

until it wasnt.

i would love to get into that deeper, but the important point is that "Ajay" is kind of a piece of garbage, whose crimes include finding Rashmi's address when they didnt give it out, deliberately not sending Amelie her wedding invitation because Rashmi told him they used to have a crush on her, driving them to drop out of dance school, and general possessiveness (notable being the fact that, whenever he is home, he always asks them to stay home too, which leads to them dropping their social circle and their hobbies). one of the places it grows from is "Ajay" being ace and not quite believing that Rashmi accepts that. he also has a substance abuse problem.

all of that culminates as they return from a short visit to their parents, and he in a fit pushes them down a long flight of stairs.

in the meantime... god, i cant even figure out what parts of information are important about Amelie here. i would put as notable the fact that she only figured out she was a girl something like a year before the events of the game - and only ever came out to Rashmi, who in turn told their parents...

and who didnt realize that Amelie's workplace didnt know.

her workplace is just. terrible in social terms. she loves the work itself (its food industry, a restaurant in a casino, dont remember the exact job description) but her coworkers are being the absolute worst. a cesspool of toxic masculinity. also an environment for Amelie's undiagnosed psychosis. she is prone to auditory hallucinations.

after being outed to her boss while also hearing from Rashmi's parents that their husband is... lets just say bad for them, she, while safely at home, hallucinates that her boss or maybe her father is breaking down the door.

simultaneously with Rashmi as they are falling down the stairs, they make Wishes.

these are not widely understood; from the context of the game, it seems as though some people get a Wish when in significant peril, or in distress. you do not need to use the Wish immediately as you get it, but they both did.

essentially, what Rashmi Wishes for is a way to escape from their husband that wouldnt raise a fuss; and Amelie Wishes for a place where she and Rashmi can both be safe. (i am very muddly on the details there) their Wishes create the anomalous clocktower where the game takes place.

Sure, Pan people who say specifically that they identify as pan to include trans and no people are gross and wrong and clearly didn't do their research in bisexuality and pansexuality and that can definitely hurt the bi community.

But you gotta see how that research and article was clearly biased by already taking participants that identified as pan and now identify as bi. And the only purpose it seems to have is wanting to show that the pansexual identity is somehow wrong and shouldn't exist. And that is hurtful for people who identify as pansexual and also panphobic. Which is why I said that the post is panphobic.

Both identities exist, people choose a label that they feel most comfortable with and have their own reasons for choosing it, there is little to no difference between pan- and bisexuality and I wholeheartedly agree that nobody should say that they're pansexual to include trans and nb people like they're doing them a favour or like they aren't included in the bisexuality identity.

But all that beside, as a gender queer and pansexual person I do see the post and the article as panphobic because of its seemingly only purpose to 'out' the pansexual label as wrong and inherently biphobic, which it absolutely isn't. It just exist and started just like bisexuality and homosexuality and it's also very old.

hey, so i really dont want to get involved with 2014 tumblr discourse, especially since i dont identify as bisexual or pansexual. im more approaching this from the outside looking in, as a non binary person speaking about the ways i would like to be perceived etc etc

research is always biased, papers are always biased, articles are always biased. although in social science we try to minimise this bias, it cant be done and it does not (within reason) negate the usefulness of that data. it's still useful, though it's use may be highly specialised or niche. i feel like this research is highly experiential. surveys are never high quality data, they arent like phd material, but they can be a jumping off point. they are useful, and a nuanced view must be taken when reviewing them.

without having the paper in front of me, i remember the questions being asked were predominately about the experience of bi people since the label of pan has began to grow in main stream relevance. e.g. schits creek and everything else recently, using pan as opposed to bi. this can be a means for people to identify as being attracted to all genders without the baggage of the bi label (being promiscuous, untrustworthy to partners, dirty especially when talking about bi men). to a largely cishet audience, this looks like the pan people are accepting, progressive, fun, and every positive connotation which doesnt then translate to bi people. it also has the effect of defining bi in opposition, because since theyre so similar (in your own words) why wouldnt someone just identify as pan? is it because they arent accepting of trans and nonbinary people? which is a commonly explained difference between the labels by pan people? is it because theyre regressive, and are taking a more conservative view of lgbt politics?

like i said before, i believe that people who identify as pan have been guilty of perpetrating these stereotypes about bi people, within and without the lgbt community. i think its important to listen to what theyre saying about their experience with relation to pan stereotypes which are out in media at the moment.

again, please label yourself however you see fit. i dont believe that you specifically, as someone who identifies as pan, are doing direct or demonstrable harm. but these stereotypes out there at the moment certainly can be harmful. its just important to take a nuanced approach to these issues, as little as they may feel.

@tikki-tok this is under readmore because i dont want any of my followers taking this as a cue to be rude or anything? but i.. okay, i dont like to talk about the specifics of my sexuality bc im still unclear of my orientation, and i dont think i ever will go back to labels as they feel constricting and cant cement my personal identity, so i dont feel comfortable putting it anywhere on my blog, but i am by all means asexual. i get the “feeling broken or wrong”, not just for not having sexual feelings but also for struggling with not knowing whether i was experiencing romantic or platonic feelings towards others. i get it!!

the uncertainty on the matter comes from the fact that someone automatically being deemed lgbt for being ace, even if they are cisgender and heteromantic, doesnt make much logical sense, but JUST AS MUCH, if someone is aro/ace, they arent straight, are they? thats where i struggle, and thats why i dont have a true opinion. i read through thoughts from both sides, educate myself through them, and become more aware of the points being made. i used to actually be a staunch exclusionist back in high school, but then i realized i wasnt getting the whole picture. 

so, here i am. believing that ace people getting actively kicked out of lgbt spaces is of course not okay, but also thinking that someone whose only connection to the lgbt community is being asexual will never be able to understand what lgbt really go through. does this mean i think they should be removed? no, of course not, but you have to understand that just because you do not experience sexual attraction does not mean you can equate yourself to a gay or trans person. oppression isnt the only thing that defines lgbt, but it does play a major role in every lgbt persons life. i was once in a lesbian (at the time, because this was before i realized i was trans and then society viewed me as a woman) relationship. and frankly, i was never once treated poorly for being asexual, while on the other hand, i lived in legitimate fear of my relationship being discovered, and was almost outed multiple times with the chance of it coming back to my bigoted and abusive family. not to say that asexuals arent targeted or put down by others at any point, but you gotta understand that most of it is online. if you go to any sort of physical lgbt space, more often than not they’ll be supportive of including asexuality. meanwhile, oppression is a very real thing that lgbt people face every day without fail, directly or indirectly. comparing bigotry against ace people to bigotry against trans or bi, etc, people cant be done, theyre entirely different ballparks!!

as for the reblogging from exclusionists... i didnt check any of them to see what their stances on the ace discourse was bc i only reblogged for information regarding the ace flag, some of them straight up being from googling for more sources. turning the conversation to exclusion or inclusion at that point would be derailing from the hypocrisy and lesbophobia that google displayed, and it really is not the time nor place to be discussing this. again, i say this as someone who is asexual.

im not sure why people think that bi lesbians just have internalized biphobia and/or lesbophobia. i dont feel "shame" for the bi label, if i did i just, wouldnt use it at all?? im not distancing myself from either "bi" or "lesbian" label, they both just feel accurate to describing my attraction more specifically together than either term could alone.

and in no way does bi lesbian somehow say that bi is 50% gay and 50% straight, or even that any bi person with any amount of preference to women are lesbians/have to use the lesbian label.

bi spans across a whole variety of attractions, a bunch of different percentages for different genders, and for me as someone that has attraction so far on the end of the spectrum of bi, using just "bi" or even "bi with a preference" does not suffice or feel accurate to describe myself. when my attraction is about "2% men/mac nbs and 98% women and nbs," calling myself just "bi" or even "bi with a preference" doesnt really put into perspective just how miniscule my attraction to men is compared to my attraction to women.

honestly itd probably be easier to just label myself Just lesbian since my attraction to men is so extremely tiny that its very unlikely that ill actually date any men in the future or want to persue romance with them (im excluding sexual relationships bc im a sex repulsed ace), but even then just lesbian still doesnt feel accurate for me. unlike people are assuming, im not "ashamed" of my attraction to men, or "feel dirty" about it, even with how miniscule my attraction is to them, im actively not wanting to completely exclude my attraction to them, regardless of if ill actually date them or not.

im not wanting to separate/distance myself from either identity, nor do i feel like either identity is "lesser" than the other, especially not lesser in describing their attraction to women, its simply just that put together they mean something more specific that fits my experience with my sexuality than using either term alone, and thats why it feels right.

and as an additional related topic, the myth of "lesbians are secretly attracted to men" and the act of "correction" rape on lesbians, in no way has the fault fall on bi lesbians simply trying to define their experiences in a way most comfortable to them. it doesnt play into the myth or tell men that "yes lesbians Do actually like men too!!", the existence of bi lesbians or lack thereof doesnt have an affect on this stuff. that is because the men believing this stuff do not care. they dont care if theres bi lesbians out there or not, most or all of them probably never even heard of bi lesbians (in my experience, there not even that many ppl that identify as bi lesbians, so im not sure why people seem to think that its a huge cause thats fucking up anything lesbian related).
