working class nonblack people when faced with the plain truth that We have more in common with working class black people anywhere in the world than we will EVER have with the bourgeoisie of our own ethnic groups in our own countries have 2 options: to choose to stand in solidarity with our black comrades and combine our numbers so that we may work together for the liberation of all working peoples, or attempt to "raise" ourselves by stepping on our black comrades and ultimately fail in enacting real change for ourselves let alone anyone else. your anger toward black people is misdirected, dangerous and reactionary, and too many of you fall for these attempts to distract you from who the real enemy is, and that enemy is not working class black people in any country. fucking get it together

Idk personally I think if your profits are so high in every category that the only way to make them higher is start subtracting from how much you pay workers and ending things like shared accounts accounts just to falsely Create new users then it's time to admit you did it.
That there's nothing left. Everything has been capitalized as much as it can be. You won capitalism.
Was it not enough?
Having more money than most of us can even imagine, more security and food, more access to healthcare and much higher quality healthcare at that? Being able to spit on the people beneath you or have the cops show up on demand when you call. All the power. Knowing you can buy politicians and set up your own fucked up chess game.
Having all that and asking for more. Trying to bleed what's already run dry.
How is it possible that these people are trying to find MORE to take?
How is it that everything is not enough?
What is their long game you know? Like there are people making those decisions at Amazon and Unilever and Nestle. To just die rich? Is that it? Have capitalists considered what happens when they reach the end of capitalist potential?
All this suffering just so they can die with some extra zeros in their account? A man made currency put in a digital space? Like let's be real her for a second: it's fucking fake. Money isn't anymore real than the tooth fairy.
And this is the best way for society to function? The earth?
Leeching off one another like parasites for made up currency until we kill each other over it?
None of us are even happy. People who like capitalism will never even be happy with it. Nothing will ever be enough.
How is this worth it? Why aren't we punching every rich asshole in the face?
Why do oil execs still feel comfortable leaving their houses? Jeff Bezos should be afraid of the public. The Waltons should exist strictly as recluses who then die in a fire. I want to see rich people desperately trying to give away their money because someone keeps spray painting "Rich Cunts Are Still Hollow" across their houses. I want the Kardashians and Carters to need a bodyguard detail taking the kids to school.
You know?

They're handing out patents for "inventions" that don't exist
Tumblr media
Today (Oct 16) I'm in Minneapolis, keynoting the 26th ACM Conference On Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing. Thursday (Oct 19), I'm in Charleston, WV to give the 41st annual McCreight Lecture in the Humanities. And on Friday (Oct 20), I'm at Charleston's Taylor Books from 12h-14h.

Patent trolls produce nothing except lawsuits. Unlike real capitalist enterprises, a patent troll does not “practice” the art in its patent portfolio — it seeks out productive enterprises that are making things that real people use, and then uses legal threats to extract rents from them.
One of the most prolific patent trolls of the twenty-first century is Landmark Technology, whose U.S. Patent №7,010,508 nominally covers virtually anything you might do in the course of operating an online business: having a homepage, letting a customer login to your site, or having pages where customers can view and order products.
Landmark shook down more than a thousand productive businesses for $65,000 license-fees it demanded on threat of a patent lawsuit.
But that reign of terror is almost certainly over. When Landmark tried to get $65,000 out of Binders.com, the victim’s owner, NAPCO, went to court to invalidate Landmark’s patent, which never should have issued.
A North Carolina court agreed, and killed Landmark’s patent. Landmark faces further punishments in Washington State, where the attorney general has sued the company for violating state consumer protection laws in a case that has been removed to federal court.
Landmark’s patent contains “means-plus-function” claims. These a rentier’s superweapon, in which a patent can lay a claim over an invention without inventing or describing it. These claims are almost entirely used in software patents, something that has been blessed by the Federal Circuit, America’s most authoritative patent court.
A means-plus-function patent lets an “inventor” patent something they don’t know how to do. If these patents applied to pharma, a company could get a patent on “an arrangement of atoms that cure cancer,” without specifying that arrangement of atoms. Anyone who actually did cure cancer would have to pay rent to the patent-holder.
-A Major Defeat For Technofeudalism: We euthanized some rentiers.

My next novel is The Lost Cause, a hopeful novel of the climate emergency. Amazon won't sell the audiobook, so I made my own and I'm pre-selling it on Kickstarter!

If the economy NEEDS workers working in degrading, dehumanizing, dangerous jobs where they have very little power, then you need to get a different economy. Any world that relies upon the exploitation and abuse of the workers needs to be burned to the ground and rebuilt. We can make a society where no one has to work a job that’s physically, mentally, spiritually, socially, emotionally, or environmentally unhealthy or unsafe for them. We need to create that society.

“No Disturbance At May Day Meetings,” North Bay Nugget. May 4, 1932. Page 14. ---- Timmins Parade Was Mild Affair and Brief Meeting Held at Cobalt ==== Haileybury, May 4 - Special - While reports of three May Day meeting in the TNO area were available at district headquarters of the provincial police here on Monday, no disturbance had been recorded at any of the Ontario point according to Inspector K. M. Creasy. At Timmins and in Kirkland Lake parades  were held and at Cobalt there was a small gathering but there were no untoward occurrence at any of these places, the inspector said. The weather over the district was unfavourable for outdoor meetings.
Inspector Creasy declared that in Timmins the parade there was in line but a short time, and that about half of its membership of between 300 and 400 persona was composed of women and children. The participants gave no trouble, reports to him indicated, although there were hint of hostility to the intruders from the sidelines. At Kirkland Lake, his officials stated the barriers used in the parade were inspected by the township of Teck police and by provincial officers before the procession started out. Official permission to parade had been granted by Teck Council, he said.
At Cobalt, there was no parade but a meeting at which about 100 persons gathered, participants and onlookers, was held on a vacant lot beside the town booster pump station on Lang street. A young Finnish speaker, who delivered his address in English, was the only orator, and the proceedings did not extend more than a half hour. One missile was thrown, the speaker being struck on the back but no attention was paid to the interruption by the celebrant and there was no further sign of trouble. In the one speech delivered, the orator spoke of the Japanese invasion of China as an Imperialistic move of aggression designed against the Soviet Union and he declared that while in 1914 war had been resorted to by the capitalists to relief the economic situation then, it was now four times as bad and he predicted another struggle. The speaker claimed that an attack had been made on working class standards by salary reductions all over the country and he said that even the powerful railway union had taken a cut for their members to permit the CPR to keep up its dividend.
Quoting figures to show that Labor unions in Canada reported 22 per cent of their membership was unemployed and adding that most of the unskilled men in the country were idle, the speaker said that capitalism had planned a calculated campaign to repress the working class and that the leader of this move was Premier R. B. Bennett. He spoke also of mass and over production and made a brief reference in passing to the offer of five dollar monthly for work in road camps and to Section 98 of the Criminal Code which he held should be repealed.

"Being poor is a choice, you can get out of it if you work hard."
I live with 4 people, one of which is a child. I work a full time job. So does another. And the third works two part times.
We have no heating. Our electric keeps getting shut off. We didn't have anything AT ALL to drink for 3 days.
You REALLY fucking think we choose to live like this? You think I want to fucking FREEZE right now as I type? FUCK all the out of touch lucky people saying this shit.
Is it possible to get out of a poor family? Yes. But the majority of the time your area of living is what predicts your wealth.
