I recently made a chain catshark sculpture for an inspiring little marine biologist who is quite dear to me. Thus, creating these little babies that you can carry around for a little cute serotonin boost✨ I only have three available currently, but I’d be oh so happy to make more🌿 check them out here!

Please, wise sharxpert (shark expert), what is the most glamorous shork?
Thank you!
CHAHAINS CAT SHALRK
*takes a breath* chain. cat sharks. Like okay hear me out. Zebra sharks are amazingly beautiful, threshers feel so elegant with their long tails, epaulettes are almost dainty
BUT. Chain catsharks have incredibly beautiful patterns, and add on to that, BIOLUMINESCENCE. They look ETHEREAL
brb gonna cry they're so pretty

🦈 Daily Shark Fact: 🦈
Filetail Catsharks have been observed from deep-diving submersibles near the bottom of the Santa Barbara Basin, an area which is considered anoxic (oxygen deficient) with few if any other vertebrates. Another interesting note is that it is a neutrally buoyant fish as a result of the high concentration of squalene in its liver.

Because I'm going to school for bio anyway I've decided I'm going to make a series where I just post about random animals I find cool and a couple facts about them. I don't know how frequent this will be, but first creature on the list is-
Chain Catshark
Also known as the chain dogfish, chain catsharks are a nocturnal catshark that get up to 59 cm in length. They're found most commonly in the Northwest Atlantic and Western Central Atlantic. They're generally shy, and harmless to humans, their diet consisting of squid, bony fish, crustaceans, and bristle worms.
But the most interesting thing about them is that they're biofluorescent, and one of only four elasmobranch species with this ability!
Look at her! Isn't she gorgeous? I don't have much more to add rn but feel free to admire her beauty until next time I have an animal post

Daily fish fact #670
Large-nose catshark!
It lives rather deep down, up to 925 meters (3 000 feet) near the upper part of continental slopes. These mysterious sharks enjoy swimming in groups, and may even rest in groups like other catsharks.

Dreamt this shark the other night. It was big for a catshark - the adults were a couple of metres long. I don't know what to do with it now that I have drawn it but I had to do so
