hey! saw your tags on the ffviiccr post, about wanting to replay the psp version for the EN voices -- and i feel you so much! i really struggle with some of the new cast. I also want to replay the psp version bc it still has an old charm, but, if it helps, and if you play Reunion on computer, there's a mod for Reunion where it restores the audio from the PSP instead! it means that anything that wasn't voiced in the PSP version will also be muted though, but yeah! if it's just for the voices this is a nice thing to know about ;) https://www.nexusmods.com/crisiscoreff7reunion/mods/32/ Wishing you well <3
oh hey there! thank you for linking that!!
sadly my poor computer isn't strong enough to handle reunion, so i have that for the switch instead!
so psp old charm it'll be, for all the english voice shenanigans :'3
but answering publicly anyway because other people may want that link 👀
thanks again!
#arkeeanswers#also there's one thing psp cc got over ccr#minerva farming is way less awful in og cc (eng version at least)#(the japanese version works just like ccr on that technical level)#(meaning: if you die in a mission in jp/ccr#you lose your loot)#(that doesn't happen in og eng; so you can steal from minerva and lose to her repeatedly)#not that i farm minerva when i go for any% but!!! 👀#ccr reference

Canon Character Refs Post 5, Whiteout
Whiteout! An overall interesting character but not one I take a particular interest in. Yeah, she had some cool stuff going on with her, but we didn't see enough of her for me to particularly love her. Fun to draw, though.
ignore the fact that I didn't immediately post this the day after the last ref aha, tumblr blog here gets updated whenever I feel like it, but this is technically a daily ref series
CCR designs are F2U with credit!

random Steve Randle Top Gun AU h/cs
because although I haven’t drawn this AU much lately, I do think about it often lol
-Mav gives Steve a tape player & some cassettes- CCR, Hendrix, a few other classic bands that are just after Steve’s time, and some 80s covers of 50s songs. Steve’s confused, but likes it. Sends a few to the gang, which is useless to them, since there’s no tape players in the 60s
-Steve watches Star Wars and American Graffitti, and prefers American Graffiti. Really likes the drag racing scene at the end
-Steve and Mav argue about whether or not Steve has to wear a helmet on Mav’s motorcycle. Mav says Steve does, only Mav doesn’t wear a helmet, so…
-Steve discovers hairspray! Still uses grease, but likes hairspray too. Sends some to Two-Bit who thinks it’s drugs
-In this AU I’m gonna make Evie a girl from San Diego who he meets at school. She becomes his only real friend lol. And for the first time in their friendship, Soda’s the one jealous of one of Steve’s friends
-Steve and Evie eventually get together, and Iceman makes fun of Mav for being less successful with the ladies than his hood-ish little brother from the middle of nowhere
-Evie shows Steve the very 80s shopping mall, and he’s blown away. Has never seen so much stuff all together in one place lol
-She also introduces him to video games, which she is very good at, but he sucks at them so he’s not so fond of them. He’ll still go to the arcade with her though, he’ll grin and bear it if she’s happy.
-Steve refuses at first to call Mav “Mav”, and only refers to him as “Mitchell”
-At least until Maverick offers Steve a chance to pick his own callsign. Then Steve’s onboard
-Steve keeps trying to convince Mav to let him at least work on the planes- if he can’t fly them can he at least follow the engineers around?? (he can’t)
-Everyone at school assumes Steve is just another Navy brat, which bugs him for some reason
-Goose and Ice and the other pilots like to joke around with both Steve and Mav in very similar ways, and then compare their reactions
-Goose and Carole become Steve’s self appointed uncle and aunt. They’re both a bit like Soda, so Steve gets along with them better than he gets along with most other adults
-Like Mav though, Steve initially dislikes Ice. He pretends to like him to piss off Mav, but he secretly finds Ice really obnoxious and Soc-y. He’s never close enough to Ice to discover the guy has layers, so he just continues to not vibe with him, yk?
-The room Mav gives Steve originally is completely unfurnished, with just a desk, and a bed with an air mattress on it. Neither Steve or Mav have any real problem with this until Evie, Goose, and Carole find out and are horrified on Steve’s behalf lol
-Soda comes out to visit whenever he can, and much to his irritation, he likes Evie. He wants to hate her for stealing Steve, but he really really likes her. They both will go to the arcade and play for hours. Steve hates this with a passion.
-Steve keeps bugging Mav to teach him how to surf, and Mav keeps coming up with excuses why not to- secretly, Mav does not actually know how to surf
-Eventually Evie teaches both of them lol, and then Soda too
-Steviepop happens at some point, and Mav finds out b/c he walks in on Soda- Steve’s best friend- and Evie, Steve’s girlfriend, kissing. He low-key freaks out and goes to Goose for advice
-And finally Mav brings it up to Steve, only for Steve to get really embarrassed before admitting that he’s dating a girl and a guy who are also dating each other and he knows it’s weird but it’s just how things are-
-Mav just sorta shakes his head and is like…okay, whatever, kids are weird. (In a goosemavcarole au, this makes him realize he’s a little in love with both Goose and Carole which sends him into a slight crisis) (but i only ship that sometimes so idk)
-Steve tries to convince Mav to let him use the motorcycle alone sometime
-Mav says no, less out of fear for Steve’s safety and more out of fear for his motorcycle’s safety tbh

I was a kid when CCR was happening in realtime. Heard all the singles as they came out; I was nine-ten-eleven-twelve for the three big years, '69, '70, and '71.
Back then, it was all AM radio...our town didn't have an FM station and the nearest ones were too far to pick up. You have to admit Fogerty's singing voice was at times about as intelligible as Mick Jagger's, which was to say I spent a lotta time asking "WTF is he singing?".
Sheltered kid in Bumfuck, south-central Texas didn't know there was a town named "Lodi" in California. I thought he was singing "Stuck in A Lodi again"...with an "a" in front of it. My ears heard that, since brain had no reference for what a "lodi" was, the "a" was definitely there to my obsessive musical savant-ish kid ears.
Even now that I know what a "lodi" is, I have a hard time NOT hearing the "a" in front of it.
Historical Perspective, babies...

Some speculations about Rufus' mother & who it could have influenced his insecurity & his choices concerning his father.
I was re-reading translations of the interview that the devs recently made about Shinra's story and something that intrigued me is that we get an idea of how Shinra sr became who he is in OG/Remake. We learn how Heidegger became so loyal to him, that Palmer was his friend whom he kept around to liven up the room & we also get a quick mention about President Shinra's mistresses. However, there's no mention of a legal wife.
I then thought about the museum of Shinra HQ. As the museum is dedicated to Shinra sr's life, you would at least expect something addressing his family. After all, Why not pushing that image of the ideal capitalist entrepreneur who became rich due to his hard work, with his perfect nuclear family to support him in the propaganda?
It got me intrigued and I ended up checking parts of the novels mentionning Rufus' mother. And she is never addressed as a wife. Just his "mother".
The only seemingly romantic relationship that Shinra sr openly had was Lazard's mother, a waitress from the slums, as the npcs around the church in CCR implies.
It makes me wonder if it turns out that Rufus' mother is also another mistress.
It kinda work in the story , as it would explain a lot some of Rufus' fear & thoughts about Evan.
We know Shinra sr always provide severance money to his mistresses who often happened to be secretaries.
Rufus also explain that his other siblings could show up & they would get money after they got to listen their sob stories. And we know that Evan's mother went to beg Shinra sr to get more money for baby Evan's chirurgy. And Shinra sr gave it to her.
It makes me wonder if Shinra sr could have taken in Rufus because his mother died when he was really young & he had no one else to raise him.
During Rufus' childhood memory in CoS, his mother is not mentionned. He is waiting for his father, seemingly wandering around the house late at night. As if he's not worried to be scolded by her, as if she wasn't there in the first place. When Rufus see his whole life stream in front of his eyes, he mostly only sees his father.
Rufus refers to her birthday & day of passing in CoS and her look in TKAA, almost put his own mother on the same level as Annette. Rufus doesn't even show anger at the idea of his father "cheating" on his mother & seems more annoyed & scared by the idea they can provide "replacements for him".
And that's it. We have no glimpse about her personnality, no memories of her etc... just some sparse info. It makes you wonder if Rufus even knew her or misses her.
Something that I've also noticed in the continuity is that Rufus is born a year after Shinra HQ in Midgar is finished. Shinra sr is 37 years old & by that point in time, is becoming a huge political player of the world, which means he has a target on his back.
So he probably had to pick an heir just in case, to raise someone who can be an extension of himself so his legacy & the company can go on after his death
Thus it's another expression of generosity toward his mistress and children in his mind but also provide him an heir that he can mold however he wants, without worrying about his mother's meddling or influence if she's already dead. Killing two birds with one stone.
It adds a lot more weight to Shinra sr threats of potentially replacing him as a child, Rufus would probably that his value & worth as a son is tied to the idea of him being a successful heir. And that threat might feels real when your father has other hidden children laying around.
Now imagine if you add Lazard in the mix. From Rufus' POV, your father suddendly hire your older brother & said older brother not only get control of the most powerful branch of the army but also gets more achievements & acclaimed by the public for it.
And he's charismatic as the employees around like him as well, including the manufactured hero Sephiroth. Meanwhile, not only you have no real achievements to boast about but you are the VP but have no executive power. How would you feel?

The Jenova project being started in 1977 is undebated canon right? So no matter what Sephiroth is not over 15 in 1992? Asking because I have seen some people try to say he was 18.
Recent installations including Rebirth and CCR have firmly established that the Jenova Project officially began in September 1977. AND we know that Angeal and Genesis were both the "prototypes" of the project functioning as Project G--an inferior version that was perfected with the implementation of Project S.
So yeah. Barring Hojo and Lucrecia getting a head start in early to mid 1977 (extremely unlikely), I would say that it is nigh impossible for Sephiroth to be anywhere older than fifteen. He's the youngest of the First trio and it takes nine months to carry a kid to term. So him being even fifteen is kind of a stretch.
He's gotta be fourteen at the most. I know some people have their own personal timelines worked out in their head. My standalone age for him is fourteen. POSSIBLY thirteen. I'll try to get a better gauge once Angeal shows up and I can compare them. But Sephiroth is a kid. Multiple characters refer to him as a kid. He acts like a kid. He's around the same age as Rosen, who is also a kid. He's a very, very young teenager and has just barely begun to come into his own the way he will later on during the Wutai War.

Songs that might actually have real magical power connected to them / may double as a spell.
Vocal spells fall under the element of air since we need air to speak and wind is is what carries our voices and our intentions in our voices. The reason some spells rhyme or are in a foreign language different from the native language of the caster is because that makes you focus more on the words and the intention and meaning behind those words. This focus is what gives vocal spells their power. Whether an incantation, chant, vocal invocation, or, yes, a song.
Here in my top ten list of real pop songs that might double as spells or have magick infused into them.
Disclaimer: Some of these are harmless but others might actually be considered dangerous. Proceed with caution.
1. The Witch Queen of New Orleans by Redbone. Often played on Halloween radio dot net this song is a classic. According to legend if you make an offering to the great Marie Laveau and then dance to The Witch Queen of New Orleans you might invoke the spirit of Marie Laveau. She will grant a boon to anyone who can win her favor.
2. Sympathy for The Devil by The Rolling Stones. It doesn't matter who sings this, according to some rumors, any time this song is performed live, someone near to the performance will drop dead. Whether from being trampled, heart attack, or drug over-dose. The song is considered to be cursed. Even River Phoenix's death may be connected to it as a new cover of the song was being recorded for the movie Interview with The vampire around the time of River Phoenix's death. He was supposed to play Daniel Malloy, the reporter, in the movie. The role ended up going to Christian Slater.
3. Heaven is a place on Earth by Belinda Carlisle. Ever since I was little I took this song as a sign someone I knew and loved was going to die. The song doesn't cause it, but I noticed that it would happen to be on the radio, particularly walking in to a store, shortly before someone's death. Some writer on the 2019 Swamp Thing series noticed something similar and had the song tied to a haunting in an episode of the short lived series.
4. Witches' Brew by Omnia. The lyrics to this song are actually words from Shakespeare's MacBeth. The play, MacBeth, is supposed to be cursed. According to one version of the origin for the superstition, Shakespeare got his Weird Sisters scene from observing an actual witch coven meeting and when he used it in his play, the real witches cursed him and the play. It's a popular theatre superstition that you are not supposed to say MacBeth except in regard to the character's name and to only refer to the play, itself, as "The Scottish play."
As the song Witches' Brew by Omnia is just the dialogue of the witches from that scene put to music, the song is considered to have a power of its own and may also be cursed.
5. Bad Moon Rising by CCR. Many know this song from its use in An American Werewolf in London. The song has been on a few Halloween albums and is also considered a rock classic. Some people have considered the song to be the musical equivalent of a mild hex or The Evil Eye. Mild bad luck has been associated with the song.
6. The Ballad of the Witches' Road (Lorna Wu / Pop version) from Agatha All Along. In the canon of the show the song is a protection spell for Lorna's daughter to keep a family's generational curse at bay. The lyrics, out of context, seem to be about the road of life, particularly for a Pagan or Witch, and the importance of love and its eternal and infinite power. With the references to real occultism, the song might have the power to enhance or infuse a spell casting potential if only slightly. Besides being an affirmation of faith in magick and love. Consider it a magical espresso or booster shot, particularly for Wiccans and some other Neo Pagan groups.
7. Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr. This is an adorable one. Apparently the song, Ghostbusters, was infused with a lot of positive energy such as the emotions of playfulness mingled with hope and so many people can't help feeling a sudden and unexplained optimism and / or joy when hearing it. Ray Parker jr., himself, believes the song can make you smile even if you've never seen the Ghostbusters movie to understand its context. It just makes you feel good for reasons you may not be able to explain.
8. Remember by Ember from Danny Phantom. This song is considered to be cursed. I don't even like putting it at number 8 on the list. Originally it was written for the TV show Danny Phantom. The song gave the backstory of the ghost Ember and how she died. A fan named Randy Robert Stair became obsessed with the character to the point of delusion and ended up shooting up a local store in 2017. The song is now considered tainted by these murders.
As the song was originally the angsty backstory and battle cry of a vengeful ghost from a kids show the song already had an innate negativity to it despite the catchiness of it. Some people even claimed they didn't like to sing along to it or even hear it because any time they dared do that one of their pets would fall ill within a month and die.
9. Angels by Within Temptation. This one is a slow burn justice spell. The song may invoke spirits of justice and if they deem your cause justified and worthy, those who wronged you will be justly punished within three years of the use of the song as invocation for angels of justice.
10. Locked within the Crystal ball by Blackmore's Night. Just an affirmation of faith in the magick that exists in the elements of nature.
11. Bonus mention: Anything written by Charles Manson including The Beach Boys Never learn not to love. All considered cursed. Anything by Fleetwood Mac / Stevie Nicks is magically infused. Stevie Nicks is a practicing witch. And certain songs by David Bowie are about occultism and Kabbalism.

I WANT TO COME LOVE YOU HERE. PLS LET ME.
I miss you. so, tell me: 🎧 You're making your favourite P boy a mixtape, what 3 songs go on it first?
ily
Jo, my love 💜
*Tackle-hugs you*(with consent) - you are too good to me. I haven't come yelling in your DMs in too long and this is unacceptable!
So, first things first, please have this Pedro as apology tax!!
Now, to your question! Eeeeeek! I'm currently Joel-obsessed so here's my songs for him:
1. Walking back to Georgia by Jim Croce, cause every reference to names is purely coincidental 😁
2. I heard it through the Grapevine, and mind you, I'm talking about the 10-minute long version by CCR, cause it's absolutely divine and imagine listening to it during a drive at night in Joel's truck.... Probably one of my fave songs EVER.
3. Wash away by Joe Purdy, cause every now and then Joel needs reminding to let go of the guilt he feels. 💜
Thanks, babe!! 😘

CCR Post 2, Winter
Winter is a pretty interesting guy that I find charming in some ways. He could've definitely been written a little better imo, but I honestly liked his book and arc overall. I can see why so many people consider him their favorite character, even if he has quite the chilling personality. Eh? Eh?

Old Crow Medicine Show at KEMBA Live!, Columbus, Ohio, Jan. 25, 2024
Old Crow Medicine Show ain’t sellin’ no snake oil. No, Sir and Ma’am. Their music is a proven elixir for all that ails at the end of a long day.
And the septet has no problem transforming a bluegrass-country show in to an arena-rock extravaganza, making Ketch Secor’s greeting of: “Let’s get ready to rock ‘n’ roll” entirely plausible despite denim, cowboy hats and mostly acoustic instrumentation.
For just as the balmy, rainy Jan. 25 weather made the Columbus, Ohio winter feel like spring, the Medicine men proceeded to make the rural rock - hard - on the show-opening “Tell it to Me,” delivered as it was with the exuberance of a final encore as the band members danced around the stage like youngsters overdosing on caffeine. That the music inside KEMBA Live! was as tight as the players were loose is just another part of Old Crow’s irresistible appeal, even as cheesy faux-preacher asides and incessant references to Ohio and its Buckeyes college football team grew tiresome over the course of the two-hour gig in front of a respectable-for-a-Thursday-night-sized audience.
The engine-revving continued on the aptly titled “Alabama High-Test” and - despite the occasional balladic breather - across the set that chronicled OCMS’ sonic evolution from the 2004 Bob Dylan leftover-cum-huge-hit “Wagon Wheel” to the social commentary of 2023’s “Louder than Guns.”
And by the time the rambunctious, early-set “Carry Me Back” screeched to a dime-stop close, the audience was crackling with as much electricity as the band. The glorious transfer of energy from stage to floor and back continued all evening, whether the band members were arrayed at their individual mics singing two- to seven-part harmonies or lined up at the lip of the stage tossing harmonicas and guitar picks in to the audience.

This was one of the first Old Crow gigs of 2024. And while the band is looking forward to what’s about to unfold, the players spent a portion of the show arrayed around a single mic and looking back at the musicians lost in 2023 with a medley that included Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” CSN’s “Teach Your Children,” Gordon Lightfoot’s “Early Morning Rain” and Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville.”

Performing in front of a circus-tent backdrop emblazoned with their name, Old Crow Medicine Show traded instruments and swapped lead-vocal duties, making themselves sound like a different band on various songs. Working as one, the seven Medicine men, Secor (fiddle, keys, harmonica, guitar, banjo, ukelele); Cory Younts (mandolin, melodica, banjo, keys, harmonica); acoustic and electric bassist Morgan Jahnig; PJ George (banjo, accordion, mandolin, fiddle, guitar, drums); Mike Harris (guitar, mandolin, banjo, Dobro); Dante’ Pope (drums, percussion, keys); and Mason Via on guitar, guitjo and mandolin - transformed CCR’s “Proud Mary” into a hybrid soul-grass revue with dueling fiddles; presented “Tequila” as a drunken barn dance with a guest spot from the sax player of Bird and Byron, whose homecoming opening set served to help the neo-soul group develop before a large audience; and unrolled C.C. Rider as a piano-driven blues as Pope took the keys and mic while George held steady at the kit.

Shades of the big-“B” Band. But this small-“b” band of brothers, is, despite lots of covers - including an angry rendition of “Ohio” and its celebratory antithesis “Hang on Sloopy” with Ohio- and Old Crow-specific lyrics added - its own singular thing. This is what makes an OCMS show one of the only places on Earth a concertgoer can find himself in the 1950s singing to “Great Balls of Fire;” straddling the distant and recent past while dancing down the middle of “Dixie Avenue” and lustily cheering Secor’s taunting of Ohio’s fearmongering Statehouse.
“Trans kids can dance here, too.” he declared.
No snake oil here. Just the healing and the facts, Ma’am and Sir.

Disclaimer for Any Final Fantasy VII Analysis, Theory, or LTD Content I Create Going Forward
27 years and an entire compilation later, we have vast more lore and story surrounding the beloved characters of Final Fantasy VII. For the sake of honoring all of the hard work the developers have put into the compilation in order to improve our understanding of these characters for decades, I will not engage in straw-man arguments.
For example, if I give evidence from Traces of Two Pasts, I will not entertain people who then want to just talk OG; but if I give evidence in OG, then the same person or persons want to turn around and use something from the compilation to try and counter the point.
I respect the fact that the compilation was created and that it is all canon. These are the works I include based on what has been listed as part of the compilation and specifically novellas written by Nojima, who is one of the main writers of multiple portions of the game compilation such as OG, CC, and the Final Fantasy Remake Trilogy (or ReTrilogy as I refer to it):
Final Fantasy VII (aka OG) Advent Children Complete (AC or ACC) Before Crisis (BC) Crisis Core Reunion (CC or CCR) Dirge of Cerberus (Doc) Last Order (LO) On the Way to a Smile (OTWTAS) The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story (TKAA) Traces of Two Pasts (ToTP) Final Fantasy VII Remake (Remake) Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (Rebirth) 2000 Gil to Becoming a Hero (2KGHero) I also make use of Ultimania quotes and guides. There are only two I do not reference as canon due to the highly contested nature of their inception, the fact that the developers and SE have not acknowledged them as part of the compilation nor are they referenced/used at all in the ReTrilogy, and have several details in them that are directly contradicted by uncontested canon portions of the compilation. While I do not necessarily find the information in them to prove or disprove which ship is canon, I find debating or using them as sources in serious analysis and discussions useless due to these reasons. - Dismantled - Maiden Who Travels the Planet I will end by stating while there is conflicting information in multiple parts of the compilation as it has continued to grow and evolve, if a specific detail has been shown or clarified by the ReTrilogy, I consider the most updated version the intended canon version. For instance, there are several iterations of the Kalm Flashback and Nibelheim Incident. Some details may directly conflict each other. If that is the case, I will consider Rebirth's version of the Kalm Flashback as the authority since it is the most updated version of events. The developers have worked hard to make ReTrilogy encompass the entire FFVII Compilation and make it a more cohesive experience, thus what details are given surrounding lore that are given for it, makes the most sense it is the intended canon version of that information. Thank you!

Craig Werner: Up Around the Bend: The Oral History of Creedence Clearwater Revival (1999)
John Fogerty sounds like a miserable bastard ...
And I'm not just referring to how Fantasy Records owner Saul Zaentz did him wrong -- and he did -- because based on Craig Werner's oral history of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Up Around the Bend, Fogerty seemed to think the entire world both revolved around AND was out to get him.
As told through interviews with John, Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Doug Clifford, plus a select number of CCR associates, this book helps shed light on what made the band such a unique and meteoric phenomenon in late '60s rock.
Among other things, how a band spawned and based in the very epicenter of the era's psych-rock counter-culture could educate so many white rock fans about American roots music from their country's then-largely ignored Southern backwaters.
This book also undermined my previously unwavering support of John's side of the CCR story, as so many testimonials painted a portrait of a generational talent whose growing need for total control over his art and business (the band never had a manager!) eventually led to a state of paranoid paralysis so severe, he chose to quit his own group rather than ask for help, or -- God forbid -- share any of the credit of glory for their success.
Still, in spite of all the public (and legal) vitriol that followed and the unresolved disagreements between four musicians who accomplished so much together, Up Around the Bend also conveys an inspiring and even uplifting story about one of the greatest American rock bands we don't often exalt as much as we should.

Hey thanks for the follow and reblog! Just stopping by to say your WIPs sound interesting and unique. For Storyteller Saturday: Since Life in Black and White is an aughts period piece, is there a song from that time that reminds you of the story or characters? Or a song the characters like? (Believe it or not I was going to ask this anyway before I saw your playlist poll lol. Im curious either way tho!)
Ooooh thank you for this, I love music questions!
I'm sure I will forget some, but here are some songs from the aughts that I associate with the story/characters (many of these were on the original playlist, as I actually drafted the story in the late aughts):
Yellow by Coldplay (2000)*
It's Been Awhile by Staind (2001)
Weathered by Creed (2001)
My Sacrifice by Creed (2001)
Hide by Creed (2001) - This song still makes me emotional to this day, bwuh. 🙃
Breathe Your Name by Sixpence None the Richer (2002)
Down and Out of Time by Sixpence None the Richer (2002)
Dark Diamond by Elton John (2002)
Original Sin by Elton John (2002)
This Train Don't Stop There Anymore by Elton John (2002)
Unwell by Matchbox Twenty (2002)
Bright Lights by Matchbox Twenty (2002)
Clocks by Coldplay (2002)* - I've considered this the story's theme song, pretty much, since I started drafting in 2008.
The Scientist by Coldplay (2002)*
Harder to Breathe by Maroon 5 (2002) - Generally not a fan of Maroon 5 but this song is lyrically great for Gabriel
Fallen by Sarah McLachlan (2003)
Stupid by Sarah McLachlan (2003)
Train Wreck by Sarah McLachlan (2003) - this one is funny because I refer to the Gabriel/Jeff dyad as "trainwreck," but this song is not where the name comes from. It just fits lyrically.
Mr. Brightside by The Killers (2004)
Savin' Me by Nickelback (2005) - The actual only Nickelback song I've ever liked because of how perfect the lyrics are for this story lol
Amid the Falling Snow by Enya (2005)
Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap (2005)
Us by Regina Spektor (2006)
To Build a Home by The Cinematic Orchestra (2007) - Not to be dramatic but I can barely listen to this song now lol.
Death and all His Friends by Coldplay (2008)*
O My Heart by Mother Mother (2008)**
Burning Pile by Mother Mother (2008)**
Body by Mother Mother (2008)**
Ghosting by Mother Mother (2008)**
Try to Change by Mother Mother (2008)**
40 Day Dream by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (2009)
Bulletproof by La Roux (2009)
White Blank Page by Mumford and Sons (2009)
The Cave by Mumford and Sons (2009)
*Can you tell I was listening to a lot of Coldplay as a teenager? The opening chapter is called "A Rush of Blood to the Head" after the album that Clocks and The Scientist are on.
**Alternate playlist for libaw: the 2008 Mother Mother album "O My Heart."
In terms of what music They™ enjoy (ie. stuff they actually listened to at that time, so mostly older stuff than the aughts):
Gabriel's mostly an alt rock/metal/punk & similar type, which I'm sure will surprise approximately no one who's read Gabriel. His frequently played artists include Nine Inch Nails (his favorite band), Joy Division, Tool, Radiohead, RATM and the like. He's also been known to dabble in more electronic genres (eg. we share an appreciation for Daft Punk and Depeche Mode), enjoy classical music (eg. Beethoven), and have a certain nostalgic fondness for some classic rock, such as GNR and Pink Floyd, and Elton John, who was his late mother's favorite singer.
Jeff's a big classic rock snob* - think GNR, Zeppelin, AC/DC, Rolling Stones, CCR, Van Halen, Springsteen. His favorite band is Pink Floyd (favorite album Animals). Caveat: if you get him drunk enough there's a chance he'll jokingly (read: fully seriously) put on either Aquamarine by Aqua or Voulez-Vous by Abba and get very into it.
*He gets that from me. The classic rock part, not the snob part.

Silver. Sorry for the long text. But i really don't have anybody to share my grievances with. Do you feel Disappointed at the devs? Because.. I do. Everytime we have something.. I don't really know if I should be happy about. For every scene that should only focus on Tifa, clearly Only on tifa and remind you of tifa. The devs give scenes that would mislead others. I don't mind subtext and red herrings. I don't. But.. it turn into Bad storytelling when it's not explicitly addressed. Interpretation can easily turn into "this is it". If nothing is explicitly clear, it becomes a majority wins game.
They really had to add that bitch in Tifa's bikini reveal? Do people really even care about the bgm?
That bitch and tifa has a rabbit ear in EC like wat?
They really make it easy for crackshippers to not see the worst dress and mid dress and sena editing best dress.. why?
We see him look like hugh jackman in nptk before we even hold Tifa's hand. What if you didn't watch the film?
Why is there a LA and HA version in creepy date?
Why use a handhold gesture that will look easily misleading?
Like really? They give us a kiss but they don't talk about it. They don't even want to explicitly say which is canon. And tbh, even in games like that, there is one canon. If they ignore the kiss, it's like it never happened. It's like cloud never tried his best. Then what are we celebrating.
So many other scenes that make me sad, I don't know where to begin.
This being scared and "considerate" about crackshippers is what gives me trust issues.
While I know I can Trust Cloud and know the real meaning of these misleading scenes. I know he has Negative Zero attraction to her and that he Genuinely tried to be a good friend just like he does with yuffie, barret, jessie , etc. but why do we have to work for that? Why do everytime I see the answer I can also see them making it easy for crackshippers and stupid 50/50 clotis to see things that AREN'T THERE.
When I see yamazaki explain something to them, I become sad. He wants to say leslie is referring to Tifa but the devs let him be at the storm of this. Her resolution, etc, he's always being careful Not to mislead (I Hope that continues). But again. The devs want to have their cake and eat it too.. they don't do this disrespect only to cloud and tifa. They do this also to zack. He's also a source of guilt? But it's not emphasized. They even released the film where he's not there. Should have been CCR first tbh then ACC.
Devs.. act like crackshippers do, always try to force the bitch on screen even when it's not necessary. She's not written at the same level and effort as tifa. You won't call tifa a mary sue. She barely existed in OG as in existed for the topic of her role. It's all about her love life. And even the external plot, they've downplayed that in rebirth. The only thing she has for what? So it'll look like she's doing this for him just as tifa does? Poor planet wtf.
For every scene this bitch is in. They make it easy for other to cope and defend her. She has flaws but it's not a flaw unless it's addressed. Again, mary sue.
Last night I saw that she only tells she'll hang out with cloti only when it's Tifa's gsd. She doesn't push her self onto yuffie's gsd. Like what the utter fck is that about? Devs making her say "cherish her" and then fck them over after? Then people clamoring, oh she said this so it's okay. What? If your SO said she ain't cheating but you see she is you won't see the disconnect with words and actions? I don't even know where to start. I'm getting a headache with how Disappointed I am with this Bitch and the devs who gaslights people.
While I see ZA apparently it's not so obvious. I just feel bad for the REAL clotis and zeriths with standards.
Sorry again for the long post.. I'm just Truly heartbroken with the attitude devs have of these stuff. Will it just be a subtext? A red herring? Wtvr? Or will it be Explicitly Cleared out? Like Everything in the Entire IP especially 7R? They say.. less room for interpretation. I Need and Want room for No BS interpretation. It's Not fun to be Toyed around like this. Were Not crackshippers and Fcked up clotis who are Goddamn Masochists.
Yeah, she's jealous and disgusting and yet the devs want us to believe she's a good friend to Tifa.
Aerith is the type of "friend" you never introduce your bf to because the second your back is turned she's trying to fuck him.
Fun fact: I had a friend like this and when she did this to our mutual friend that friend punched her.
Aerith is not Tifa's friend, and going one further, if Tifa was lgbtqia then she can do a lot better than that rancid two faced bitch. She's Tifa. She'd be with someone on her level, not a pink trashbag.
