Fawful Month day 11: 🌈BIS Anniversary

Happy anniversary to one of my favorite games of all time!

For the anniversary I decided to include the three Star Sages into the drawing since they don't get much attention which is a crime in my eyes, since all of them are really cool characters!

help now im thinking about the theme of patience in bowser's inside story in general. fawful was EXTREMELY patient. he bided his time for two whole games, being a MINOR SHOPKEEPER NPC in one of them, waiting for exactly the right moment to strike. chakron's whole DEAL is preaching patience to everyone and then that patience turns into utter stubbornness in the face of genuine calamity which sucks even more than being impatient. what the hell....

Can I add my two cents? Kaley is most likely considered the best because she is the most likable and developed character. She has her own internal issues, she’s really adorable, and she cares about her teammates very much. It’s like she had a bad group of friends that turned her bad. Dieter’s cool, but he can be a big jerk at times, and Beef feels like prototype Midbus. Not to mention that Kaley looks like Chakron a bit, so she fits more in the series than the other two.

Kaley indeed is the most popular of the trio. She has her moments of vulnerability, she has weaknesses and strengths, She’s good friends with Dieter and depends on Beef a lot (I like to say they’re close too but I’m doing research here and it really doesn’t show. Unless its one of those “I insult you constantly” kind of relationships). She’s the most dynamic character of the 3. I think she also gets the most screen time.

And yeah, she is the one who the most matches the game’s style... but not much. Chakron looks out of place too, truth be told.

Dieter just goes around insult people’s favorite characters and just overall an arrogant dude. Nothing wrong with that, I like an overconfident dude. Just saying he starts to get a tad annoying when his arrogance is just uncalled for insults.

Beef........ does not talk at all! He’s ignored by nearly everyone! He only speaks his rehearsed lines at the beginning and then for like the majority of the game he’s gone! He doesn’t talk, not even when they reveal the name Brutal Force Federation does he get a line, Dieter and Kaley ignore him constantly until he insults them (Ludwig, insults them, mind you) and then they’re like “oh crap, he talks!” like come on! I’m watching this 3 1/2 hour long video of all the cutscenes in BJJ and Beef barely speaks or is acknowledged or is relevant until like 2 1/2 hours in!!!

Sidenote: I’m watching this video as I’m typing this and I just got to the part where Kaley is beating Ludwig and Beef is like encouraging and going “YOU TELL HIM!!” God that’s so good! I love this....... they’re all gone after that until the final fight.... great.

Anywho, what a terrible way to introduce the BFFs. These are brand new villains and only 2 of them got the special treatment of a personality. Beef was ignored so intensely he wasn’t introduced when Kaley and Dieter got revealed!

Beef deserved better.... or at least equal to Kaley n Dieter.

Meet Chakron (left) and Ella (right), they are part of my idea of using entertainment companies as inspiration for characters:

Chakron is inspired by SEGA villains, specifically Black Mask from Persona 5 and Squares from Puyo Puyo Tetris 2. Her black and blue colour scheme is also based on the black sports version of the Dreamcast console and her name comes from Chaclon, a character from Sonic Adventure who only appears in the Chao race minigames.

Ella is inspired by Nintendo villains. Her red jellyfish-like hair with one eye is based on Mother Brain from Metroid and her face mask is based on the boss Drawcia Soul from Kirby Canvas Curse. She also wields a 3DS stylus.

Do you think that Jaydes and the Shadow Queen might be related?

This is an interesting question to get out of the blue. Hm! I'm not exactly sure tbh. There doesn't seem to be any real in game connection to them aside from appearance, so outside of someone possibly having a hc of them being somehow related... I'm not really involved enough in the Paper Mario series to say for sure that I would or wouldn't hc that. Man its been forever since I last watched a lets play of either games. Its an interesting idea tho 🤔

if it makes you feel any better since its on topic wouldn't it be neat is Chakron was some sort of psychopomp?  on top of being a divine figure that helps to keep the universe and stars from crashing, given his location he could be a guardian or a gatekeeper to one of many entries into the Overthere.  I think that could be neat :>

Reading the stats for enemies in BIS (or just any of the M&L games) is so interesting for some reason because you start to learn/notice stuff such as:

Some bosses have Challenge Medal stats despite being unable to be fought legitimately with the CM

The only enemy in the whole game that doesn't have CM stats whatsoever is the tutorial Bowser, even tutorial Midbus has CM stats but for some reason Bowser (1) wasn't invited to the CM party

Bowser's enemies are much stronger than Mario and Luigi's because Bowser is overall stronger than the bros, but they have significantly lower speed stats

"Enemies" that aren't really enemies having ridiculous stats will always be funny, like the food in the second Midbus fight that has 9,999 HP

9,999 HP is not the true max HP possible because Bowser X with the CM has over 10,000 HP (also fun fact doing over 10,000 damage crashes the game)

For real though some of the CM stats are fucking horrifying, imagine fighting a boss with 800+ POW like holy shit

Bowser X, if his HP and Speed were nerfed, could very easily be a normal endgame Bowser boss (in fact he'd be right at home next to Dark Bowser who actually has more POW than him)

Actually I'm pretty sure most of the X bosses would work as normal Bowser bosses

Belly: HP: 1 (CM: 2)

Seriously though why the fuck does Blizzard Midbus have so much fucking HP? He has more than the final boss (if each phase is independently measured)?? Next to Bowser X he has the most HP in the entire fucking game outside of the "not entirely enemies" (like Chakron)??? Pig’s got more HP than his master too like what’s up with that

Comparing BIS to BISDX, the levels for enemies are often lower in BISDX but the stats are actually higher! From least to greatest, the stat totals for enemies usually goes BIS<BISDX<CM

That being said, there are exceptions to the above! For instance, Dark Fawful has more defense in BISDX than he did with the CM in BIS! A very tanky little boy!
