I know we saw so many people go flow in chap 256 but I think this instance of flow in 251 went unnoticed for the most part
#Like back-to-back instances of flow from the GOAT of strikers and GOAT of midfielders (who isnt ng11)#Man that was so fun to read#And hiori haters apparently have shit ass memory and forgot this godly block#Also I think it really is a testament to how good they are considering they borderline went solo flow against each other#In 256 hiori used flow against 3 people but for this its just rin. Rin is scary man#But also hiori in flow was enough to stop rin for that moment. Hiori is scary man#Theyre both scary this is why they werent allowed on the same team#hiori yo#rin itoshi#blue lock#bllk#hiorin#Ik i have a bias for these two chars but greatness really needs to be recognised

yuri lowell versus gacha games
(*Rays translations in these screenshots belong to me and have been inputted into my own game. full scene hasn't been posted yet)
ability to use his arm and thus fight with that arm lost temporarily in Link before being beat the absolute fuck up by a guy who nearly captured him, threw him in a dungeon and left him barely alive;
brainwashed/memory wiped and given altered memories temporarily in Asteria;
a transgressor from apparently (game shut down before we got a backstory - or frankly anything else at all) being caught committing a crime and put on Vision Central and thus condemned by the majority of the viewers as guilty in Crestoria;
Yuri doing just fine in Rays except Flynn's body is being used by another guy and he does not fucking like it and has a glorious meltdown and is no longer doing just fine upon finding out.
that, uh, does not include the fact that he was seen by Glastein in Rays arc 4 who has a deep obsession with dark hair officially he says black hair but yuri's is purple i'll die on that hill and he also likes lukius' hair too which is clearly brown so uh I'M saying dark hair and commented very very creepily on the length and shine of Yuri's hair and how he wanted to take it home with him.
so yeah! uh! Yuri's gacha life, everyone!
#GTF Yuri Things#they trick you by giving out ample alts of him and making him front and center in all the games#(crestoria was about to so i give them that at least)#and making him all important in the stories... and then they beat him up physically or emotionally#like man Link arc 2 was NOT kind to him LMAO man was physically knocked around so bad#GACHA GAMES DO NOT TREAT YURI VERY KINDLY DO NOT BE FOOLED BY ALL HIS ALTS LMAO#nah i love you claw just. you know. you're still technically. brainfucked yuri. but. i love you bby.#i just wanted to make a shitpost abt the fact that yuri's gacha life sucks LMAOOOO#(reason i left out the glastein scene is bc i don't have that scene properly translated yet so it's not even in my game yet#i usually wait to put translated files into my game until i have the full scene done#so no creepy ass fuckin' glastein screenshots yet)#NOT TO SAY THE GACHA GAMES' STORIES ARE NOT AMAZING BC THEY ARE#just. yuri uh. well. he uh. he gets knocked around. he is not given the happiest storylines.#and no I'm not joking about the Yuri having a meltdown over Flynn thing#and I'm VERY strict about my own translations LOL#so no nobody can pull the ''weh weh she's just a shipper'' actually no i just tl what's in front of me and work with char tone#covering that base before someone tries to crawl up my ass bc god i know they're out there somewhere#whatever the original says i translate to the best of my ability without bias#i might like the content but i never alter content bc god knows i blow a fuse over loc yuri on the daily LMAO

tfwiki the MOST useful feature u could have for me at this point is to simply having a rating for comics/comics writers on the woman (and other marginalities, allegory or not) suckage rating. i dont wanna hear about it. i dont wanna hear about HOW LONG. weve been having cold take shit heads play in the space. just on a scale of arcee was made to appease the feminists to cv/es actual rep of diverse gender AND diverse gender pres. thats all
#some shit#its not called cisformers#IM GONNA" im gonna start lookingat my dash. evenutally. give me a minute#brought on by seeing notes that theres at least one guy who as like. can we make the woman look normal in the comic please? and hasbro said#NO THEY NEED TO LOOK LIKE WOMAN. so people KNOW we have women in our totally girl boss feminist comics#-> they still employ furman to this day#and. previous same guy. IS EDITING OUT. SOUL BASED GENDER. of... trading cards??? for all i know his comics might STILL. suck. to me.#to me. tometome. they only way i can find out if any comic DOESNT suck. is to read them. but. STAMPS MY FOOT.#IT LOOKS WEIRDDDD IN THERE#and b4 u come at me for cartoon bias note how i had to COMIBINE the 2 shows with women cause es has like. normie women. Let's talk about Knight Terrors! But only the Flash (and a little of the Green Lantern) one shot, because we're here for the Halbarry content.
Spoilers for Knight Terrors: The Flash #1, and some discussion of the event in general. And also warnings for some minor gore (Hal's not looking so hot, as you know if you saw the pages) and spoilers from Final Night (from 1996, so you probably know them already)
Also, from the snippet about the Hal/Barry team up in Green Lantern #4 announcement, I don't think this is meant to tie in with that, but I guess we'll see when the issue comes out!
So! Context! The basic idea of the event is that a villain has trapped everyone in their own personal nightmares, tailor made from their deepest fears. Barry's story focuses around him trying to help an injured Kid Flash Wally, while slowly realizing that there's something very wrong with the world he's in. He goes to the Watchtower to use the Cosmic Treadmill to go back to the moment Wally was injured, and instead is met with this:
So, I kind of love this. It's Barry's dream, and his lack of reaction to Hal's appearance makes sense in that context. The entire scene feels less nightmarish and more melancholic, and reads to me as Barry's own regret about not being there through Parallax and Final Night (or just in general). But despite just traveling through a nightmare world that made him question his own actions and acknowledging their mortality, Barry trusts that they'll have more time to address his regrets without blame or resentment.
And then, immediately after Hal comments how he doesn't know when to let things go, he helps Barry go back in time. Hal trusts Barry's judgement, and Barry knows he can count on that, even when everything else in the world is wrong.
And then there's all the little details, like Hal's Boomer vocab calling back to their Silver Age adventures, Barry recognizing Hal by his signature boring constructs, how Barry doesn't think twice about asking for Hal's help despite his condition and Hal being able to make something as incredibly complex as a working Cosmic Treadmill no problem, how Barry only asks everyone else for information until he finds Hal...
Also, I can't help but wondering if Hal's "Didn't anyone tell you what happened?" is a callback to the League not bothering to tell Hal when Barry died. Between that and Hal's comment about no one coming to visit him, I wonder how Barry feels about how the rest of the League treats Hal.
(Though it's pretty funny, that, from a straight reading of the scene, you could come away thinking Barry's sorry that Hal's face no longer features on League merch)
Honestly, I'd forgotten about the "attacked by your fears" part until writing this up, but it works for Barry on that level too: failing the people closest to him in a world that doesn't make sense. The introduction of the story was how Barry grounds himself in facts and the people around him, and Barry's continued struggle even as those things are ripped away (sometimes by his own doing) was really heartening, despite the nightmare and the cliffhanger.
Even outside the Halbarry moments, Knight Terrors: The Flash is a solid stand alone. I loved Barry's introspection about how he sees the world and the Speed Force, and his relationship with Iris. The introduction of the dream stuff works well even if you're not familiar with the larger event with the trippy visuals and the little things out of place, things Barry himself starts noticing throughout the story. Definitely recommend it, though with a warning for the level of gore that you'd probably expect from these pages and knowing that it's a nightmare world.
But it's a dream sequence, which means it's really open to interpretation! If you've got another read, I'd love to hear it!
The Green Lantern one is decent too, though probably better if you go in knowing that about half the issue is about Sinestro. The overall approach addresses Lanterns having a different relationship with fear than the average superhero. I really appreciated it, especially when so many comics forget that.
#spoilers#halbarry#knight terrors#comic recommendations#knight terrors: the flash#knight terrors: green lantern#and despite my own bias#knight terrors: the joker#hal's turn to be charred like a rotisserie chicken#thanks Ceeloi for that colorful turn of phrase#totally not procrastinating my Halbarry Week stuff

Seeing the occasional post in the tag talking abt how cliquey the fandom is and wondering why it's that way always kinda baffles me.
I think a lot of the perceived separation in the fandom and everyone figuratively eating at their own lunch tables is actually pretty natural; the show's been over for a good while now, so there's no new content to bring people together. Fans are mostly only interested in their favs, and a lack of crossover isn't too surprising or bad on its own. 7 K will probably never be my cup of tea, and I wouldn't expect someone big into Cass and Raps as siblings to consume content of them as romantic partners.
But I do think the 'tone' and climate that contributes to cliqueyness is often set by the more popular/active blogs in a fandom. ND fans wondring why Cass fans (and especially Cassn//zel shippers) feel ostracized seems rather obvious to me when the more vocal ND blogs/fans I see in the tag can't even engage with the idea of Cass existing, deride her as a creator's pet/waifu/"OC" [derogatory], and constantly treat her and Eugene's roles in the plot as a zero sum game, with her "stealing" moments from the movie or upstaging him as something Cass-the-character is personally responsible for.
I know there are definitely some bad takes out there from the hardcore Cassn//zel crowd too, and the 'Eugene cut her hair too short/he's too old for her' is kind of a meme to me at this point. I think there's also a lot of similar stuff to be said abt Var fans' attitudes towards Raps/Cass and the diff discourse topics with him- fans projecting and taking the narrative personally, etc.- but that's a diff post.
Anyway, not sure where I'm going w/ this. Having a lot of little niches isn't bad? 'The fandom' as a whole should be more self-aware? Performative neutrality is kind of unconvincing/tacky and you can't please everyone anyway? Some polarization is to be expected, esp as a fandom shrinks over time and the different servers and groups of fans become more insular and boil down/concentrate.
It's always good to be mindful of the atmosphere you create and how welcoming your spaces are to fans w/ different interests, but that's also not a requirement and sometimes different fans just won't gel or enjoy each other, even if they're all v cool people.
#hi folks it's Opinion Time#this started as me being pissy abt Cass hate and turned into a PSA lmao#be cool and respectful Ig and don't put your spicy takes/char hate or 'criticism' in the tags#be honest w/ yourself and your fandom friends/followers#as an aside it's worth noting that the impression I get is tumblr's tags and 'public spaces' have more of a ND bias#while twitter has more of a Cass//nzel bias#and obviously the servers vary#text post#discourse#my post

@octahyde mentioned you on a post “"how did a straight man* come up with the sapphic...”:
@pinkprettycure Also I haven’t watched penguindrum but I have seen the sa scene and that compared to the Utena one where he was on a leash from several people. Sure is something!
Okay i need a full post for this reply lol but yeah like… I really really do love Penguindrum but it has some serious issues there and it doesn't handle the topic of SA with nearly as much grace and delicacy that RGU does.
It really shows imo how RGU has aesthetic qualities that Ikuhara really enjoys and implements into things he works on later on, and how surface level it can really be. Yuri and Masako are both characters that have the Look of RGU. Yuri being an actress in a theatre troupe and Masako just outright having the same hair color and styling of Juri
both are pretty notable to me in that they have a very fairytale-like, 70s shojo aesthetic and its a look that is used a lot across his works. The shojo sparkle eyes and ojou ringlets
Same with like, the stairs, the dramatic poses, the Critters. these are things he likes to bring back over and over
But there is a definite lack of care when it comes to some topics. Yuri as a character might have reasons for the way she is, but the way SA is handled was so so poorly.
With Yuri's backstory they fumble things so badly. her story being that she was abused by her father because she is ugly, ugly things cant be loved but her dad can make her perfect and beautiful by breaking her.
The symbolism used, comparing her to a statue that needs to be chiseled into perfection was actually brilliant. Her dad is an artist, he chisels away at those statues to make them pretty, and it's used as a metaphor for the (particularly violent, "breaking her" seems to be meant as literal as it is psychological) sexual abuse againse his daughter. and then that abuse cycle continues with her wanting to mold Ringo into Momoka, the girl she loves and the girl who saved her life. Momoka was the first person to show her real love and tell her she's beautiful, and if Momoka didn't use step in and use the fate transfer spell, Yuri would have died.
But... before we learn any of this. the scene between her and Ringo happens (Or continues, as it happens at the end of the previous episode) and its a trashy mess. And when Shouma tries to save her it's played comedically, he fails to rescue her and slips on a bottle tossed by his penguin and falls. Yuri doesn't go through with it but not because of Shouma. It's because Yuri can't bring herself to. She wants to see the real Momoka again, not use her sister as a replacement goldfish.
And such a serious scene, a serious episode, did not need Chu-chu styled antics.
We gain an understanding of Yuri but it could have been done without that scene, with a different scene, or with one that treated it with the seriousness it deserved. Even the end of the ep before treated it better and it still felt grody. And it sucks because it's otherwise a fantastic episode that is dragged down by the shittiest buildup imaginable. And its an example of the terrible mindset and biases that Ikuhara seems to have. When the abuse is from Yuri's father to her, it's done in a tasteful way that uses framing and metaphor to build on in a way that's chilling. Lingering on the images of various tools as the sounds of chisels echos through the hall. When a woman is the abuser it's not taken half as seriously and it feels just entirely out of place for the work.
#Are you telling me Char broiled this burger?#octahyde#As this type of issue also appears in YKA iirc#I think its safe to say this is an example of Ikuhara having a bias that he's carrying across works

kaiser/ness being tied with gagamaru is actually so funny to me. the universe is out to get you pluvi
I mean if nobody wants him I don’t have to share right?
#ask.🌧#saintshigaraki#listen I get why he’s losing to kunigami and isagi and barou I get why ppl r more into them#but it’s NOT BIAS when i say he’d be a good bf esp compared to like sae or Kaiser and ness#like unironically he’s one of the most considerate chars in the series ik he’s not one that comes to mind but u can’t deny it#it’s easy to write him off he’s a lil goofy ofc but I’m so dead serious when I say I do think he’d be better than the vast majority#idk if I get into it I’ll feel like I’m putting the other chars down but I think in general…….#gagamaru has the same tendency for worship and utter dedication and borderline obsession as all the other bllk boys#but at the same time he DOESNT have the same level of arrogance and selfishness that the others r very prone to#I’m dead serious when I say that realistically I think his flaws r more bearable than the competitors’#anyway#it’s okay if I’m the only one who sees that then it’s all mine to enjoy :)

#ok thought about it a bit more i actually have mixed thoughts on till dying#probably coloured by bias but. still i guess ivan sacrificing himself only for till to die like. a few days or hour wtv later#could be an overarching point about how little humanity means in alien stage and everything#but personally i think it would be way more compelling if he was kept alive somehow#i think they're going towards the. mizi final girl thing very heavily#so like. i expect numerous deaths like. ngl i expected hyuna to DIE lmao like infront of luka or smthing#lowkey is one char dying every episode. funs#um lost my track of thought kinda. um. i do not think till dying was the best choice narratively like now#but i do like how he died. that was very poetic#i do think he may or may not stay alive though . there's a chance if very low

who's the cutest side character in s class heroine and why is it hestio ligenel.
his silly tsundere banter with ephael where he talks and yells like ephael is a nuisance and thorn in the side but the two of them are always side by side anyway.
the scene from the webnovel in the toy mansion, where ailette gave ephael extra food and hestio visibly looked extremely upset but didn't say a word about it
the iconic "if you keep using honorifics then we won't be your friends anymore!!!"/"huh? i thought you said tesilid wasn't your friend"/"shut up!!! are you going to let him keep talking like that!" scene.
the gap moe of hestio's resting bitch face (in the webnovel he and ailette locked eyes before the dungeon sink and she instantly averted her eyes bc he looked super mad ahsjdj) vs the way he very frequently looks out for the people around him. and also the gap moe of his long black hair in a elegant braid, and then he opens his mouth and he's just yelling his head off. also the fact that as an adult he normally speaks in a somewhat straight-laced manner, but he's also cheeky and quick to pull people's legs
#hestio ligenel#i am WEEPING he is so cute i want to swing him around#his gap moe is everything.....#(SPOILERS IN NEXT TAGS)#this isnt even including the greenwall scene like#i cry. that scene is everything to me#him crying so loud that u can hear him thru soundproof walls#seeing tesilid and then throttling him bc how DARE he not let them know he's alive#I CRIED AT YOUR FUNERAL AND LEFT FLOWERS !#ok but all the other side chars are very cute too tho prinz and bia had some VERY good moments in season 1#too bad we barely see them afterwards.....! hahaha.....! It's funny how these are technically 3 different chars
But due to sheer publicity of the latter 2 and bias, no one cares!
Let's elaborate
Rise of Lyric
RoL Shadow is a dick. However his main reason for fighting Sonic is entirely due to him fucking up in releasing Lyric. Unfortunately this is poorly explained, and most only saw the boss fight, so many assume he was just a bully for no reason
Post Final boss however
The teamwork dissing is important, I'll explain
In John Melchior's draft, the game was apparently meant to be more serious, but late dev Sonic Boom's brand was suddenly meant to be a comedy, so another writer took over to insert comedic elements along with prioritizing the *teamwork* gimmick. Whether Shadow was initially planned or not is debateable, but his dissing on it seems to have been the aftermath of this gameplay focus. It's also important to note that Shadow's origin is straight up not mentioned, and he's treated as a familiar
Shattered Crystal was made likely after this shift, hence
Shattered Crystal
So taking place in its own continuity, Shattered Crystal features Lyric wanting to use Amy's archeological knowledge to access ancient tech. Shadow is captured off screen and used as a pawn
When freed, he's confused and aggravated, especially upon finding that he was mind controlled. He however has no true hostility to Sonic unlike RoL, though mad dashes off to find the snake. Lyric in the end after the boss fight is taken out by him, then we get Stixk's crack teamwork speech
Again, Shadow specifies he's a loner, and weirdly states he's superior, but just leaves harmlessly
Meh attitude, though better than RoL in execution. This was written by Warren Graff, Ken Pontac, Tin Guerrero, interesting as it means they were aware of the brand distinction given differences to mainline
Meanwhile the TV Show
TV
Everyone knows of his infamous S1 finale apparence with him coming in on Eggman's villain council, calling them shit and leaving, then aggressively targeting Sonic and beating him up, says the fucking "shame to hedgehogkind" after breaking an IKEA cabinet entirely cuz...
He's evil
Why??? I really don't know
Season 2 is even dumber, you straight up have him want to nuke the entire universe. Again, villainous for no fucking reason
Even for Boom standards this is beyond stupid. He's an anti hero in SC, and nowhere purposefully destructive in RoL
People learned later about mandates from Sega, though it's important to note 2 things
-Shadow being an edgelord is entirely the writer's idea
-Sega barely wanted to use him in general for Boom TV
I can't stress this, for as much as fans pushed the "Sega wants bootleg Vegeta" narrative, nowhere do either writers say they were forced to. It was just them taking cynical piss at the "no jokes" mandate that clearly wasn't hard pressed given what happened, and did the surface level comparison that was common in the early 2000s. For as limiting as he was, they clearly did whatever the fuck they wanted given how much this contrasts with both Boom games
Ffs, they could've just had him petty at Sonic for taking the last burger at meh burger as a concept, there's a better way to have him be a dick
I'm honestly curious if his backstory would've ever been revealed in a later Boom game (hence the show being explicitly barred from making their own), but as we know, Boom was discontinued around 2016 game wise, and the show ended 2017

Don't Be Afraid, Just Start the Tape
Starting off strong, I want to discuss the argument between Louis and Armand. This, in my opinion, is where everything fell apart. It's just them going back and forth hitting each other in the jugular and it made me want to rip my hair out just hearing it. I, personally, have always hated when things like that get thrown up in arguments so that's my own personal bias. Just hearing Louis throw back the CSA in Armand's face and Armand throwing Paul's suicide, Grace leaving him, and his history with Lestat back up brought me to tears almost. It really sucks that these two felt that they had to resort to these things, but that's the tragedy of it all.
But, for some reason, I think Armand was more hurt that Louis called him dull and boring. My belief is that it hit harder because being boring and dull to Louis means he goes out to look for more exciting things and people, leaving Armand home all night. He doesn't want to lose Louis and the first ounce of real love that he's experienced, so he was taken aback by that. Louis walking out into the sun wasn't much of a surprise to me, but I think him doing it at that moment was. I would have expected a suicide attempt back in Paris, or even in Dubai, but not in San Francisco. I do understand now that the story has unfolded.
I think Louis has just had enough of it all, talking about it with Daniel who kind of brushed it off in his intoxicated state and his argument with Armand only fuels that. He wants to be with Claudia, she's the one that he says is calling him, and if dying is how he's going to get to meet her again, then so be it. Now, the whole situation with Armand leaving Louis on that bed to suffer while he begs for relief definitely rubbed me the wrong way. Louis no longer has Claudia to nurse him back to health, as she did when he was dropped, so he has no choice but to rely on Armand and that sucks. Armand is in here torturing Daniel while he leaves Louis to holler and yell for him, that's so messed up. Even going as far as to contact Lestat and relay messages from him to Louis, and omitting some things. The psychological abuse at play here is crazy to think about.
I also want to talk about the power balance that has been discussed as well. Yes, Louis is able to express himself a bit more and in a different way in his relationship with Armand. They have an understanding of each other and what the other needs and their roles and positions switch based on what one needs at that moment. The whole Arun/Maitre thing is really working in Armand's favor more, in my personal opinion. He knows just how to push enough to get Louis to fall in line with that. You can see that towards the end when Armand calls Louis maitre after all he said. He's all of a sudden asking Louis to lead after everything that has happened, after Louis had to beg, and Louis will happily oblige in order to keep the peace between them. I wonder in what other instances has this happened before. We see Louis trying to keep Armand from falling off of the deep end while he, himself, is the one sitting in the coffin burned and charred begging for blood. So curious as to how this will all unfold in the coming episodes, I know Dubai will be a madhouse just as much as Paris.
Aside from the analysis of relationships and arguments, this episode was amazing. The styling choices in both the filming and wardrobe were superb. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this was Jacob and Assad's first episode they shot. It had to be funny to go from this to all the sweet lovey dovey stuff in the earlier episodes. I want to hear them talk about this more. Also, the SFX makeup was amazing! Much love to everyone involved with that! And it was nice to finally see Luke! He played that part so well. This and episode two are my absolute favorites so far. I wonder what's to come next in Dubai...

rant about gay chars(travis phelps) and fem writers
me watching ppl write travis with a female reader, knowing he's a canonically gay character.
chat that's erasing rep, not saying it's as bad as whitewashing but it's essentially the same thing
females HE'S NOT FOR YOU!!! if you like him romantically just write drafts of him n you? make fanart?
and if u dk how to write male x male, then js don't write travis? it's like cis ppl trying to write trans chars and honestly js making rep worse
but, again, my bias of being a trans mlm aside, i can't stop you. it's just, i hate watching fem ppl erase canon gay rep js bc they find the char attractive.
and yes, ik it's not actually "erasing rep", as it's still canon. it's just very frustrating and id appreciate if writers just left gay chars with their gayness
AGAIN, i CANNOT stop you from writing male(gay char) x female, this is just a rant/vent.
#travis phelps#sally face#travis phelps x reader#travis phelps x male reader#double trouble she ra#erasing rep is bad!!!#rant#trans FtM#trans masc#gay representation#travis phelps x female reader is a lil weird..#this is just gay rep in general but trav and dt were in mind while writing this#yes ik dt is nonbinary#they're also gay tho
