Pollux Deneb Black (1912-1975) - the oldest and the one his parents centered in. He learned from the best professors and became a respectable pureblood heir (he was very classist and racist at all levels). He married Irma Crabbe, a classmate of his, and had three children with her: Walburga, Alphard (II) and Cygnus (III). He enjoyed being the center of attention at all times, which became complicated after the birth of his daughter, who was exactly like him.

Cassiopeia Phaidra Black (1915-1978) - the second, ignored by her father and loved by her mother because of her similarity to her mom's aunt, Elizabeth. She was a confident woman and enjoyed parties and different social events, in which she made 'relations' with married women of all places and took advantage of the lack of freedom to live their sexuality to be with them, she liked the side of being a secret to them. She never married nor had children, she didn't have any interest on any man and any man on her.

Marius Roman Black (1919-1983) - born a squib, was raised secretly by house elves and kicked out once he turned 17. He was the shame of the family and no one but them knew about his existence. His parents had the 'heart' to send him to a good university to study once they kicked him out, because even if he was a squib he couldn't be a complete failure. He met his wife Calista through a coworker at work, who was her brother, and had four children with her: Portia, Bia, Careus and Clotho Graham-Black.

Dorea Euterpe Black (1920-1977) - fourth and kinda forgotten. She wasn't a man, nor similar to anyone her parents loved. She was raised without much attention from her parents, only really being recognized by her siblings and her aunt Belvina and uncle Sirius. Dorea craved attention for anyone, and fell in love with Charlus Potter when she got to know him because of that, he was a very expressive and effusive man that didn't hesitate to show his love. They ended up getting married and they had only one son, named Keelan.

Sirrah Belvina Black (1923-1951) - the younger and the last hope of her parents of having another son. Her father specially resented her for it, in his eyes he only had one son and that's it, so he wanted another child to be proud of. She was really smart but struggled with mental health problems that tended to leave her very depressed. She married a foreign wizard, Morgan Knochenmus, and moved with him to his natal Germany. They had three children: Kunigunde, Torsten and Diana. She ended up committing suicide at only 27 after struggling for years with postpartum depression.

Dorea Potter (née Black) (1920 – 1977) was a pure-blood witch and a member of the noble House of Black. She was the youngest child of Cygnus Black (II) and Violetta Bulstrode and the youngest sister of Pollux, Cassiopeia, and Marius Black. She married Charlus Potter and had a son.

For me, Charlus Potter was Fleamont Potter's brother and Dorea was sister-in-laws with Euphemia. They had a son named Hardwin Potter in 1949, who unfortunately died in 1956, four years before James Potter was born.

The Potters say due to Cerebrumous Spattergroit. Cerebrumous Spattergroit was a particularly virulent sub-strain of the infectious fungus spattergroit. In addition to the regular symptoms of the disease, such as the formation of purple pustules on the skin, it caused severe confusion and memory loss. Dorea was left heart-broken, so when James was born, she became quickly attached with James and bonding with Euphemia very well.

Charlus Fredrick Potter, staunchly proud Potter yet never belonged

Eldest and first son to Clifford (b. 1892) and Susan (nee Sapworthy), born in 1918 raised around horses with his three younger siblings. The nephew to Fleamont (b. 1890) and grandson of Henry "Harry" (b. 1866), Auror and of the Wizengamot. Charlus began college initially though flew Submarine Spitfires in wartime but was thwarted to Grindelwald's Allianz in promises of equality.

Perhaps his love for Dorea Black (b. 1918), formally of the W.S.O. and agent to the Allianz, in their labor from crimes, had urged him towards respect along with regret. They had three children, with many struggles: Lenleoc (b. 1950), Philip (b. 1953), and Tabitha (b. 1955). Not all reached adulthood and most disowned by the House of Black.

Close with each of their families, respect slowly enveloped Charlus as he fought the growing darkness on the Continent as a Wizarding Union Peacekeeper. Longing for heirship, but never his, and was constantly tempted towards the darkness yet battled it until his last breath.

Dorea never let go of her brother Marius (b. 1916) that her family cleaved to, even if it was quiet and later among the respected Blackworth family and nobody discussed their close open relationship with the Weasleys. Did the Potters have any intended or unintended influence on all the Black heirs? Most certainly. The Blacks will never trust any Potters ever again.

Dorea Gaia Black was born in March 1920, ten years into the Global Wizarding War. She was the youngest of four siblings, and the second daughter of Cygnus Black II and Violetta Black (neé Bulstrode).

Since she was merely a little girl, it became quite apparent that she had inherited the so talked beauty of the Black family, with her pale skin, refined bone structure, jet black hair and eyes the shade of mist.

She, as well as her siblings, was home schooled until the age of eleven, and educated in the beliefs of blood supremacy.

Dorea was never close to her oldest brother, Pollux. He had been almost fourteen at the time of her birth, and hadn't even met her until the summer holidays arrived.

Her sister, Cassiopeia, was five years her senior and, in a way, had been a role model to her for the first years of her life. However, she left for Hogwarts when Dorea was only six, and they grew apart.

Marius, on the other hand, was who Dorea was most fond of from her siblings. In 1927, Grindelwald escaped the International Confederation of Wizards, regrouping his army. Cygnus and Violetta decided then to send Marius and Dorea, who were respectively nine and seven at the time, to the United States, as the Black family wouldn't be targeted there as much as in the United Kingdom.

With them went their cousins, Cedrella and Charis. They all spent a bit over two years there, with some family friends. They were some of the happiest times in Dorea's life. She surprised herself at the fact that she didn't miss England. Only perhaps felt saddened at the notion that she had missed the birth of her nephews Alphard and Cygnus III.

After those first two years had passed, Marius and Cedrella were called to return to Great Britain, as they had just turned eleven and were to attend Hogwarts.

Marius, however, never went to the school, and Dorea said her goodbyes that May 1929 without knowing it'd be the last time she'd ever see her brother. No one ever talked about it, and they forbid her to ask. It was many years later, when she was fourteen, that she discovered the truth: Marius was a squib.

At the age of eleven, in 1931, she and Charis returned to England. They were both sorted into Slytherin straight away, but soon made their own separate group of friends, (once again, she was surprised at her ease to adhere to any crowd), growing apart despite sharing most of their classes as well as the common room and dorm.

Her years at Hogwarts were very pleasant. She joined the Quidditch team, playing as a seeker, and surrounded herself with quite an agreeable group of people. She had a number of lovers in her last years; all purebloods, of course. But never a proper boyfriend.

She finished her studies in 1938 and moved back to the United States, which had become the place that most resembled a home to her. She settled in New York, and started working for different newspapers.

She only went back to England for the Christmas holidays, as well as occasions of special importance. Such was her father's death, at the end of 1943, at the age of 54. He had been murdered by a group of rebels, just when the Global Wizarding War was coming to an end.

When she returned to the states after her father's funeral, she decided that the best way to deal with the grief was by working and partying alike. Although one might think partying is not the most appropriate thing to do right after your father's death, Dorea could never say they had been close. After all, she could barely say she knew him.

It was in one of these parties, in the hot month of August, that she met Charlus Potter.

Merlin knew what he was doing in the States, but he caught Dorea's attention almost immediately, with his tanned skin and dark, indomable hair. He was charming and had a quick tongue, which excited Dorea, who never bit her own.

Charlus was eight years older than her, and was to spend a month in New York, since he was the business partner of his brother Fleamont, a thirty four year old man who would look exactly like his younger brother, if it weren't for the glasses he was wearing.

They hooked up the very same night they met. The chemistry between the two of them undeniable, the electricity palpable in the air. A clear case of attraction at first sight, as Dorea's cynicism would have never allowed her to call it love. Not even when that man had achieved to get to her the way no other man had ever been capable of.

Those thirty days of summer went by faster than either of them had expected, and before they realised, it was Charlus's time to leave. They had never discussed where their relationship stood, too comfortable in the naivety of that precious moment of infatuation.

They were polite in their goodbyes, and with a last kiss to her hand, Charlus left the country they both had belonged to, the country that had belonged to them and them only for a whole summer.

His parting broke Dorea's heart. She thought she'd never recover, and that no magic would ever be able to cure this malady that had taken grasp of her and was infecting her very heart.

By the end of September, however, be it destiny playing tricks on her or maybe just a bit of luck, she discovered she was pregnant. Dorea traveled to England to confront her mother about it. Violetta was horrified at the prospect of a bastard child, but when Dorea expressed her wish to keep the kid, she accepted on the condition that she married the father.

It was, perhaps, the most nervous Dorea had ever been in her entire life. She met Charlus at a pub in Hogsmeade. He looked the same as he had during summer, and she had to remind herself that only a month had passed, despite it feeling like an eternity to her.

She explained the situation and before she could even bring up the subject of proposal Charlus was already on one knee, the eternal gentleman.

They got married a fortnight after that rushed proposal and moved to Barnton, Cheshire. Dorea was offered a job in the Daily Prophet and she officially became Dorea Gaia Potter.

Their son arrived in June 1944, when Dorea was twenty four and Charlus was to turn thirty two. They called him Aerglo, which referred to the night sky's natural glow, in honour partly to the Black Family tradition. Aerglo Charlus Potter.

In 1954, Dorea became the first woman to be editor of the Daily Prophet.

She passed away in 1977, one of the first victims of the dragon pox outbreak that year. Her husband would die a year later of the same illness. Their son Aerglo, was murdered in 1979 by a group of death eaters.

So i started writing Harry's family tree for ex nihilo, mostly so I can remember who did what when I mention them and i thought i'd share it here. I'll probably expand upon it at some point but this is what i have so far:

The Potter Family Tree

Eloise Potter nee Peverell and Graham Potter. They adopted Eloise’s younger cousins so the Peverell name would die out and spread rumours saying that the cloak was lost. Eloise was a Slytherin and Graham a Gryffindor. Eloise was a wardmistress. Graham was a halfblood, born from a muggleborn father and an Indian pureblood witch. 11th century

Laurence Potter, one of the adopted Peverell cousins of Eloise Potter. He was the first man cursed with untamable hair of the Potter line. Slytherin, 11th century.

Peregrine Potter, invented among other things a cure for the Carmine Plague that killed thousands in the goblin nation. It gave the Potter the title of goblin friends. He also invented several healing charms and the Blood-Replenishing Potion. Ravenclaw. 16th century

Roman and Lillian Potter (nee Prewett), respectively professors of History of Magic and Charms. Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. 18th century.

Beatrice Potter, wrote the treaty that ended the last goblin-wizard war. Slytherin. She was argentum regina during her tenure at Hogwarts. 19th century. She went on become the head of the International Magical Cooperation department and argued the Goblin Liaison Bureau should be placed under her tenure. She succeeded but it went back to the department of Control and Regulation of Magical Creatures two decades after she died. Likely Fleamont and Charlus Potter's grandmother.

Fleamont Potter. Invented the Sleekeazy Hair Potion and other cosmetic charms. Gryffindor. 20th century

Euphemia Potter nee Fawley. Gryffindor. 20th Century. She used to be an unspeakable.

Charlus Potter. Ravenclaw. 20th century. Also a professional duellist.

Dorea Potter nee Black. Slytherin 20th century. She was the rex’s lieutenant during her tenure at Hogwarts. The rex was a Selwyn. She used to be a professional duellist.

Marius Potter. Ravenclaw 20th century. Charlus and Dorea's son, died from an illness before he could complete his studies. Named after Marius Black, Dorea's squib brother.

James Potter. Gryffindor. 20th century. Wanted to be a cursebreaker but enrolled into the auror trainee program because of the war.

Lily Potter. Gryffindor. 20th century. She was studying to be a wardmistress and potionsmistress.

Augusta Longbottom sat with Andromeda Tonks. Augusta knew the younger woman's pain all too well. Both lost their loved ones to war.

Augusta's youngest brother Neville Bulstrode I was killed at the end of Gellert Grindelwald's War.

Her nieces Wakana Bulstrode died and Folashade Bulstrode was greivously wounded in the Battle of Exmoor. Her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Alice were tortured into insanity shortly after the First Wizarding War's end.

During the course of the Second Wizarding War Andromeda's husband Edward Tonks was killed in the Forest of Dean evading Snatchers.

Her daughter and son-in-law, Nymphadora and Remus were killed in the final battle of the Second Wizarding War.

Augusta had raised her only grandchild Neville and now Andromeda would raise Edward or as he was affectionately called Teddy.

They sat in silence for a few more minutes before Augusta spoke.

"I would like for you and Teddy to accompany me to my maiden house the Bulstrode Villa this afternoon."

"Also a good fresh air will do you some good."

Andromeda was surprised. She didn't know the older woman was a Bulstrode by birth. Andromeda eyed her warily and agreed.

Augusta wasn't someone you could easily say no to either.

Andromdea freshened up Teddy up and bundled him in his coat.

The Longbottom matriarch sent a patronus message ahead. The trio used the floo, and appeared in a grand entrance.

Augusta motioned to a young girl that was around Harry, Hermione, and Ron's age. The older witch called her Millicent. Millicent was accompanied by another, it was Andromeda's younger sister Narcissa.

"Cissy?"

"Andy?"

Narcissa looked just as confused Andromeda did.

It had been just a weeks earlier that they met for tea.

Augusta cough and interrupted the sisters short reunion.

"There is someone that wants to meet the both of you."

They were escorted to a large sun room. There were portraits of two witches who were all to familiar to Andromeda and Narcissa.

Another pair of sisters from the House of Black, Cassiopeia and Dorea. The two painted women looked haughtly at their great-nieces. Dorea especially eyed Narcissa with much disdain.

In between the portraits sat an elderly and yet regal woman. She was not painted and very much alive. Next to her was a black and white photograph, of a young man in rugby attire, signed Marius B. It didn't move like magical photographs.

There was tea and refreshments laid out on the table.

"Come in now don't dawdle."

Augusta removed her signature Gainsborough hat and bowed.

"Lady Violetta, here are Andromeda Tonks and Narcissa Malfoy as requested."

"Violetta!?" Andromeda and Narcissa were both taken aback.

"As in Violetta Black? There has to a mistake?"

"Our great-grandmother passed away in 1946 three years after her husband Cygnus."

"Aunt Burga told us." Narcissa exclaimed.

"This is why you are in the mess you're in, because you lot listened to Pollux's daughter as if she were Morgan Le Fay herself." Dorea pointed at Narcissa.

"If I wasn't a portrait I'd ring that pale goose neck of yours!"

Narcissa eyes widened, she shrank back into Andromeda.

Dorea Black, their great-aunt had married into the Potter family, her husband Charlus Potter. Dorea was a relative of Harry Potter.

"Here I am in the in flesh."

Violetta picked up a teacup not taking her eyes off of her great-granddaughters.

You two have survived a great deal." "Who'd imagine the Princess Constellation and the Little Daffodil as the last ones standing."

Cassiopeia clucked her tongue and rolled her eyes.

"Does one have to dutiful follow her husband even in death?" Majority of the wives of House Black outlived their husbands and gained a much needed peace of mind."

Isn't that right mother?"

Violetta cut her eyes to her youngest daughter's portrait.

"Dorea voiced raised. "So now little Cissy decides she doesn't want to be apart of the heard! "Now she has her own thoughts, now she has a mind of her own that came apparently far too late!"

"Stop it." Andromeda stood firmly.

Cassiopeia raised an eyebrow. "You're defending her?" Letting bygones be bygones? Oh little princess, you are far to kind."

"You know the three you always reminded me of another trio of sisters from our family. Callidora, Cedrella, and Charis."

"Except the roles are reversed. Cissa here is just like Callidora who was the eldest and Bellatrix takes the role of Charis the youngest of the three don't you agree Rea?"

"Oh yes Pia."

"Charis was a madwoman she just hid it better, politics was her vice. Oh the bodies she buried for the Ministry." Narcissa, you knew her grandson, Bartemius Crouch Jr. quite well I presume?" Dorea shook her head in disgust.

"I -

"Cassiopeia scoffed. "What now? Kneazle got your tongue?"

Violetta held up a hand. "Girls that's enough calm yourselves."

"Andromeda, Narcissa please sit down."

"We have two more guests that will be joining us shortly and then we shall start.

Their great-grandmother's voice was stern.

Andromeda and Narcissa looks at each other, they felt like little girls back at 12 Grimmuald Place. The two huddled together on a sofa. Andromeda was still holding Teddy.

"May I see the little one? Violetta's voice softened."

Andromeda got up and sat beside her and gently passed her grandson to her great-grandmother.

How old is he?"

"He'll be two years old in three months."

"Teddy reached out and touched Violetta's robes his hair turning a shade of magenta."

"Oh my! He is a metamorphagus like my father-in-law's aunt and uncle, Alexis and Eduardus. Even Misapinoa and Iola had children that were meta-wix as well."

Really? exclaimed Andromeda. "My Dora was a metamorphagus as well."

"Of course it is an inherited trait after all. There is a great deal you two don't know about the older generations of House Black."

"Well only what you all have been told."

There was a soft knock on the door. It was Millicent again.

"Excuse me, Mrs. Black and Mrs. Prewett have arrived."

Augusta got up. "I'll escort them in."

Mrs. Black? If their great-grandmother was still alive then who else? Narcissa looked at questionably at Cassiopeia and Dorea. The two remained silent.

Violetta continued to play with Teddy.

Andromeda thought of Molly and her grand-aunts but their maiden name was Prewett and this was a "Mrs."

Narcissa and Andromeda gasped as they looked toward the doorway.

"Melania, Lucretia good to see you." Violetta nodded.

Melania Black (née MacMillan) was the grandmother of their late cousins Sirius and Regulus Black. She had been married to Arcturus Black III.

Andromeda looked up at the portaits as another woman crossed over into Cassiopeia's frame.

Lucretia Black. She was Sirius and Regulus aunt. Aunt Walburga's cousin and sister-in-law. Lucretia also just happened to be Molly Weasley's aunt by marriage as well.

Melania stood in front of Narcissa, she turned and frowned at Andromeda. She didn't seem to be pleased with either one of them.

A tense moment of silence.

"How about we we take Teddy to the to front gardens for a bit of playtime and snacks. And you all can catch up. I've got bubbles!" Millicent nervously interjected.

Narcissa looked at her son's former housemate with pleading eyes.

Teddy excitedly clapped his hands. "Oh Grammy bubbles!"

"Alright you can go" Andromeda tightly smiled.

Augusta and Millicent stepped out of sunroom with Teddy quietly closing the door behind them. Leaving the witches of House Black alone.

"Oh shit, Aunt Gussy."

"Oh shit is right." Augusta exhaled.

"Oh shit" Teddy repeated giggling.

"Damn it, I left my hat."

Millie shook her head, "I'm not going back in there."

"That's fair."

Random “Post War” headcanon of the day

Evelyn looks a fair amount like her great-aunt Dorea Black (grandpa Marius younger sister), who married Charlus Potter. Not strikingly so (Evelyn does have grandma Liz’s freckles and coloring, and Sophia’s cheekbones) but enough that Kreacher sometimes mistakes her for Dorea (he’s old and his mind is going a bit) and anybody who looks at Evelyn side by side with a portrait of Dorea would  immediately know they’re related. In the “Post War” universe (which doesn’t take Pottermore info into account) Dorea and Charlus are James’ parents.

Harry and Andromeda both have quite a bit of fun casually reminding Severus that his girlfriend looks like Harry’s grandmother/James mother.
