I couldn't get that idea out of my head of Chakotay stumbling across Kathryn and Dal taking apart a replicator at 3 in the morning as a bonding activity and Chakotay using that photo to introduce Dal to the Bridge Kids.

(8.6.0) DbD PTB Ponderances: Chat Changes

Dead by Daylight's in-game chat isn't a feature that seemed neglected, yet it's received alterations to how accessible and convenient it is to use that're nice to finally have, in retrospect. Most obvious of all is the shift from a transparent background to a black one, increasing the readability of text and decreasing eye strain. Another sight for once-strained eyes is the automated text that now states when someone leaves the chat, removing the inconvenience of having to check the pause menu to see who is still present.

A shame that the removal of inconveniences neither extends to the inability to see dead players' messages if the player was alive when they were sent - though, at least dead players' messages to each other now remain in the chat when switching to spectations and back, I suppose - nor the wonky, should-be-optional censorship system, despite how it's censored normal text referring to a character's name a million times over, for example.

Considering how players come for the flashy new content and stay for the attention to finer details, it really is a shame. While some appreciated work has been done to this chat, there is more to be done, and so more should be done.

A Creator's Insecurities...

Do you ever have insecurities about yourself? Do you have times where you think your voice is too ugly & cringe for audios? Do you ever think your writing sucks? Do you ever think your editing is just laughable? Do you ever think you don't deserve the praise people give you? Do you ever think people are jealous of your work & despise you for it? Do you think people are bad-mouthing you & saying things about you behind your back? I have my insecurities. Big shocker, right? Mine stem from how people view me. My content, my presence, my appearance in chat boxes. I question how I come off to the community. I question if I'm being too much. I question if my constant kindness is looked to as being fake, annoying, or desperate for approval. I'm proud of my work! I love what I do, but there are times when there's doubt slipping in.

If you're aware of my username, you'd know how often I show up on Twitch when VAs & ASMRtists are streaming. Not all of them, but some that are familiar with the community with their own fanbase. It's ironic how I'm not much of a talker IRL, but I have so much to type & say in the Twitch chat boxes. When it comes to streams, the ones who are streaming always call the audience "Chat". Just "Chat". Not that I mean this in any disrespect! I understand why because of boundaries & to avoid parasocialness. It's reasonable! It's also due to how a handful of fans within the ASMR/Audio community are minors so boundaries NEED to be put down! I know how this works. There are times though when I feel talked down to like I'm a child despite how I sometimes do that too. I guess it just feels different when you're an adult & you don't want to be talked to like you're an immature kid. When it comes to me, I always talk to everyone in chat like they're equal like, "Hi, everyone! Nice to see you all!" I always address them by their usernames or what they want to be called. I don't want anyone to feel left out or they're not seen. It just feels wrong to me saying, "Hi, Chat!" "Oh, it's The Chat!" "Chat likes to be funny!" because those are real people behind those usernames! I don't know...it's just me!

I bring that up because I'm also insecure about my Twitch presence. I do question my behavior. No one has really confronted me about it since I haven't really broken any rules because I know better, but I still feel as if I'm doing something wrong. Like I said earlier, I have a lot to say in the chat boxes. I'm either reacting to what streamers are saying, I'm reacting to what happens during the stream, or I'm chatting with others in the chat box. However, the "imaginary audience" keeps yelling at me. I think about everyone who'll eventually watch the VODs. I keep thinking about how others think of me & how I come off as. I feel as if a handful of what I say is unnecessary, a bit unhinged, & sometimes come off self-centered since I tend to use "I" often. I know it's not real & I've been reassured by others that I'm not doing anything wrong, but it's like somewhere in my mind it keeps telling me that even though people don't say these things, they're thinking it. Stuff like, "Can she please shut up?" "No really?!" "Nobody cares about the food you're eating or what you did today or *insert whatever here*!" "Stop filling the chatbox! No one is talking to you! Take a hint!" "Damn! She's so desperate for these people to notice her!' "No, for real!" "Parasocial b@tch!"

It's something I need to work on when it comes to my insecurities. I don't have little self esteem, but I always want to make sure I don't hurt anyone, offend anyone, become someone's doormat, etc. Though, I will have to accept that not everyone will like me. I just have to stick with keeping my head held high & working to be the best creator I can be!
