Half Moon Manicure Set
@therococoprometheus and I teamed up to bring you a set inspired by 1930's nail polish ads ! On my side of this collab you'll find cc nails perfectly suited for 20's, 30's and 40's looks. Check out @therococoprometheus's side here for nail and beauty related vintage clothes and objects ! More pics and download below
In the West, in the 19th and early 20th century, nails were usually cared for and tinted using faintly colored oils or powders that had to be buffed into the nail to achieve a slightly rosier and shinier look. At least by 1917 there was also "nail white", used to get a whiter nail end. Indeed the sought after look in the late 10's and 20's was a pink shiny nails with light contrasting sole and ends. The white nail ends as a beauty standart was pretty classist as it was initially a way to show you didn't belong to the manual laborers (...or at least give the appearance of it) who usually had to dirty their hands (and nails) at work. When liquid nail polish became more widely available in the 20's, this look was emulated by applying the polish solely to the middle of the nail in a crescent shape, and such giving us the half moon manicure an iconic style sported by about every fashionable lady from the late 20s to the late 30s. By the 40's, the half moon manicure started to decline in popularity, the most fashionable looks being either fully painted nails or a version of the half moon manicure with painted ends. By then longer nails were also more popular as can be seen on the likes of Rita Hayworth or Marlene Dietrich. Those nail polishes were quite shiny and a bit sheer so I tried my best to replicate these characteristics in my own cc. The color palette for these cc nails is also directly taken from old nail polish ads.
————————  Short Almond Nails  ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
These nails with their short and oval shape fit the style most popular in the 20s especially in their (20's) half moon manicure version. Though they could also suit later decade for a shorter more work friendly nail especially in the 40s and solid version.
3 versions : 20s half moon, 40s half moon and solids
for each : 1 bare swatch and 47 colored ones
only available for adults
male and female frame versions
Tumblr media
————————— Long Almond Nails ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
In the 30's longer and pointier nails became more fashionable and as such these long almond nails in their half moon versions would be perfect for a 30's look. They would also fit perfectly in the 40's in either their solid or 40's half moon version.
3 versions : 30s half moon, 40s half moon and solids
for each : 1 bare swatch and 47 colored ones
only available for adults
male and female frame versions
Tumblr media
—————————— Coffin Nails ——————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
Such long nails would not suit 20s or early 30's looks, but would be perfect for 40s or late 30s.
2 versions : 40s half moon and solids
for each : 1 bare swatch and 47 colored ones
only available for adults
male and female frame versions
Tumblr media
————————  Short Rounded Nails ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
Short nails have always been around as they are quite practical at all times but I couldn't fit the half moon design on these in a satisfactory manner so enjoy these nails in a bare (timeless) and solid (40s and up) swatches.
1 bare swatch and 47 solid coloured swatches
only available for adults
male and female frame versions

By the 1500s we start to see the broad and square silhouette come into fashion for men. This impressive shape was achieved through the use of over-the-top sleeves, balloon-like pants and overcoats made from layers upon layers of billowing fabric. Wealth and status were communicated through rich fabrics and opulent ornamentation, with some English and French lords even bankrupting themselves to pay for these wardrobes.

My Fair Lady: Regency Era Working Class Dress
Tumblr media
♫How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith in his excellent word, what more can he say, than to you he hath said. You, who unto Jesus for refuge have fled?♫
Aren't you sick of your poor ladies having absolutely NOTHING to wear? They can't afford the latest and finest silks, and of course, they don't want to wear their mother's pre-revolution outfits. Yuck! This is a working-class dress for your regency ladies who are on the less fortunate side and with the new and fashionable empire waist!
This is a frankenmesh of a dress from @peebsplays & @gilded-ghosts. I also used a fichu from @acanthus-sims and an apron texture from @chere-indolente
BGC, with 20 swatches all inspired by actual fashion plates of the time
Below are pictures of actual working-class regency dresses
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, what's this? Sweet little Emma seems to be playing with her brand-new baby doll, Polly. How adorable!
Tumblr media
She's so proud of her Polly that she wants to show her off to the world! She starts tugging on her mother's apron to get her to see Polly.
Tumblr media
Oh no! Her mother isn't giving her any attention. Instead of turning to see Emma's doll, her mama seems to be preoccupied with her own baby, Emma's new little sister, Annabelle.
Tumblr media
Poor, poor Emma. It's hard being a 3 year old. It's harder getting a new sibling who seems to get your mother's undivided attention and you're no longer the star of the show.
Tumblr media
:(
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, but fear not little one, for you will always be the center of attention when Aunt Beth is around.

200 Followers Gift: 19th-century Men's Lookbook
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, here it is. A gift to you all for getting my follower count up to a whole 200. I know it's not a huge milestone, but I'm excited about it, and I'm glad so many other people are interested in the things I make. As of right now I have 212 followers, and there were only about 190 students at my elementary school. That's weird. That's a lot of people.
This is a more informal lookbook than my usual ones. I haven't really gone all in on the photo editing. It's more of a timeline of fashion than a true lookbook. Note that it's a mix of casual wear (1810, 1820, 1830, 1850), regular daywear (1800, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1890) and evening wear (1840).
1800s: hair / glasses (TSR) / suit / boots (Base Game)
1810s: hair / facial hair (Base Game) / vest / breeches / boots
1820s: hair / facial hair / vest / pants (Discover University) / boots
1830s: hair / facial hair (Base Game) / outfit / boots (Base Game)
1840s: hair / facial hair (Base Game) / suit / shoes

1880s: hat / hair / facial hair (Horse Ranch) / suit / boots
1890s: hat / hair / facial hair (Cats & Dogs) / suit (Professor Plum) / shoes (Get Together)

Alexandrea Cole Morales: 1940s Lookbook
A later 1940s lookbook for Alexandrea Cole Morales in her mid-adulthood years. By the end of the decade, Alexandrea has achieved some success as a Hollywood actress. Widowed during World War II, she has found a second chance at love and began dating her fellow actor, Vito Ferraro. She is the parent of two children, teenage Salvador and preteen Gloria. In contrast to the wartime years, Alexandrea now wears fuller skirts and longer dresses, especially for formal events. (I haven't been able to feature all of Alexandrea's many looks in-game yet but hopefully will showcase them more as the decade nears a close!)
everyday 1: hair / dress / tights (TSR) / shoes
everyday 2: outfit
everyday 3: dress / apron / shoes
formal 1: hair / earrings (VG) / necklace / dress / gloves

portraits of the vatore siblings [in-game wall art]
Tumblr media
I'm having a lot of fun putting the Vatores in period clothes, so I made some renders of them dressed up in 1890s-1940s clothing and threw them into that big frame from Vampires.
download [sfs]
This was a pretty big project: 3 cc wall art pieces covering 6 decades of fashion with 12 separate outfits, which resulted in 18 individual renders and 144 total swatches. Also, the frame itself is huge. I prefer them sized down (shift + [ in buy mode) but they are 100% the type to own larger-than-life portraits of themselves.
My hc is that the Vatores were born in the late 1930s/early 1940s, so imo they aren't actually old enough to have worn any of these clothes when they were first in style. I think they dressed up like it’s old times and took a buncha pictures just to confuse people trying to figure out how old they really are. Sibling bonding!
Included below are all 18 renders, with cc and full color below the cut.

Newlyn Fisher Clothing Set
I come to you today with this little historical seaside fashion interlude (before going back to work on more 1880′s sets). This set includes cable knit sweaters in high and low waisted, and variations on traditional fishermen smocks. More pics and download below
This set is partly inspired by the works of the school of Newlyn, a group of painters known to have depicted the surrounding of Newlyn, a Cornish coastal town, and its many fishermen in the 1880′s to 1900′s. And here is the painting that I referenced in the promo picture.
—————————  Cableknit Sweater  ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
This is the sweater from the Werewolf pack without the little laced up strings on the shoulders (why do you always add these unnecessary details EA ? 😅). I’ve made a short version (S) for my high waisted needs and a long (L) version, for both masc and fem frames, as well as both adult and children.
Cableknit sweaters originated from Ireland, in the Aran Islands, though other types of knitted jumpers called gansey already existed in the British, Irish and Channel isles. They were created between the 1890′s and 1900′s. They were initially knitted with unwashed and undied wool. Both the natural lanolin from the virgin wool and the knitted patterns made for water resistant sweaters and as such : good alternatives to the previously used ganseys made of oiled wool died with indigo.
These Aran sweaters slowly became some fashionable sportswear item during the 20′s and 30′s, and later reached its peak popularity in the 50s’ and 60′s worn by the likes of Grace Kelly and Steve McQueen.

——————————— Vareuse V1 ——————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
Vareuses are a style of fishermen smocks with a V neck. This style was typical of Brittany fishermen though I have seen depiction of Norwegian fishermen for example sporting this style of smocks on 1880s paintings too. While I couldn’t find substancial informations on their origins and date of appereance, vareuses seem to have been used at least as far as mid 19th century and were still worn as work wear up til the mid 20th.
It is said that traditionally fishers wore different colors depending on their fishing style : yellow ones for those shellfish picking, rust colored ones for those using fish traps, red ones for oyster farmers and blue ones for those fishing in the open seas.
Fishermen smocks were oiled to be water repellant and worn on top of clothes and knitted garments to protect them from water and keep them relatively clean.
On this 1st version of the vareuse I’ve not put any clothing “underneath” to allow for warm weather and for combinations with accessory shirts or turtlenecks.
33 solid swatches
for adults and children
——————————— Vareuse V2 ——————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
This 2nd version of a vareuse include a cableknit jumper sticking out of the V neck collar. The set also includes an overlay to pick the color of said cableknit jumper.
33 solid swatches
39 solid swatches on the cableknit overlay (located in the right wrist section)
for all ages
—————————  Cornish Crewneck  ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
Similarly to the vareuse, the crewneck is a style of fishermen smocks. This style is traditionally associated with Cornwall, in the north west of England. Cornish crewneck smocks were used similarly to vareuses.

Next in 1930s fashion is Zelda Darlington, who now goes by her wedded name Duplanchier. Although her looks here much more subdued than they were in the 1920s, they fit not only her current life but also her personality. We even see a retroactive return to many of muted tones she wore in her younger years. While these colors are more subdued than the bright ones she wore in New Orleans, they are also far from the somber palette of Josephine’s looks. Rather, they are calming and earthy, much in the same way Zelda views her life now.
Many of her looks are also suitable for work, although there are still hints of a more fanciful style of dress that she enjoyed in the last decade. This includes her wedding look, and even the silk party dress that she has now; however the latter is very much in line with the silhouette of this decade, representing Zelda embrace not only of their new life, but also the hyper-feminine, almost romantic looks that are now in fashion and well aligned with her personal style.
However, much of the growing rigidity of style in the 1930s as compared to the 1920s is absent in her looks, in part due to her lifestyle but also her personal fashion. We can see this perhaps most clearly in her hair, which is cut to a modern length but never really worn in the heavily styled coiffures and curls of the period. And of course her outfits are rounded out by her personal choice of pearls, now always seen in her wedding ring, and her sister Rosella’s floral pressed jewelry.
All CC linked under the cut.
Everyday 1: hair / headband / earrings / dress / apron / ring (TSR Warning) / shoes (Base Game)
Everyday 2: hair / necklace / dress / ring
Going Out: hat / hair / dress / shoes (TSR Warning)

Underwear: romper
Sleepwear: nightgown (TSR Warning)
Wedding: earrings / headband / lipstick / dress / shoes
Hot Weather: dress

I love sci-fi, I love the 1940s - how about we mash them together? The Closet Historian has been a great inspiration for many years, she perfectly melds retro and futuristic styles into wholly unique outfits, and her lookbooks were a huge influence on today's project. AU FIL DU TEMPS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello there ! I'm Adèle, she/her, 29 and french. I like and follow from @chereindolente (my old abandonned art blog)
I have been amassing historical CC and making some of my own (over on @chere-indolente) for a few years now, but without touching the live mode 🤡. As of this year I took the resolution to go back to playing the actual game (I'm not there yet since my save is far from ready but on my way) and I wanted a tumblr that would be more suited to share my save preping and eventual gameplay as well as to interact and reblog other simblrs ...so here it is !
For now I will mostly introduce my sims, possibly share some of my planning or wip builds, and eventually, once I'm finally ready, some snipets of my 1880s rotational gameplay, which will be set in France as you might have guessed from the title. See you soon bye ❤️
