Mussel and Sweetcorn Fritter Doughnuts.
An experiment that worked much better than I anticipated. I have at last, four and half years after most of the population, contracted COVID. I had a miserable week sleeping, sobbing, sneezing, coughing and shivering and sweating. It was almost as bad as the time I so contracted falciparum malaria years ago. I was very grateful for my CPAP and Vicks Vaporub. But miserable. . I had to wash the…

For the honest character, asks 4, 32, and 43 for Gale.
For Astarion, 2, 29, and 49.
You don't have to answer them all if you are not comfortable ✨️
Thank you my lovely! A little bit of Astarion as well? A little nibble? We love that 💜
Gale:
4. Did you initially dislike/hate this character?
Nope. Adored him immediately. Pulled him from the portal and went 'oh, shit, this one' and just 😍
32. If you could make this character a meal, what would you make them?
Ohhhhhh a tough question for Mr keen cook Dekarios.... I think I would go with 3 courses. The first would be some kind of salad I think, with feta, rocket (arugala), mint as a salad leaf, pomegranate seeds, good olive oil, lots of pepper, something like that.
The second one would be a sort of fish stew I enjoy making in summer. I kind of threw it together out of what I had, but it's a tomato based fish stew. This 'recipe' is just vibes really but if you want to make something like it:
It starts with onions and garlic in olive oil, sweet red peppers (the pointy ones), chilli flakes, sriracha maybe, add a can of tomatoes, a can of butter beans, white fish (I just use frozen fillets of pollock, sometimes I've used fresh sea bass), and prawns/shrimp. Season to taste and add some lemon. I just eat it as is so it's light.
The second thing would be a lemon custard type thing. From memory that's about 5 egg yolks, demarera sugar, lemon juice and zest, whip those together, heat milk and vanilla in a saucepan until hot but not boiling, add a bit of the milk to the egg mix and beat that together so it doesn't scramble, then pour that mix into the milk and keep stirring until it thickens. I put them in small ramekins and pop them in the fridge so they're set and chilled.
43. What type of weather makes you think of this character?
Thunderstorms, but only because that's my favourite weather and Gale uses lightning a lot.
Astarion:
2. Did you always like this character?
No! I staked him in my first playthrough. Hated his guts in fact. It took a long, long time for me to go 'oh, shit' and fall so hard for him I got a tattoo.
29. Do you affectionately bully this character?
No, to be honest. I'll bully Gale a little, but with Astarion I just want to treat him gently because he's had so many years of shit. I just want to be soft with him 🥺
49. What’s your favorite personality trait in this character?
His empathy for Durge makes me cry. He understands what it's like to feel trapped and the way he starts to care for them more than himself... I wept I swear.
💜💜 thank you again darling!

My mom’s fried rice. My most fav fried rice. The reason why I rarely order fried rice from restaurants as they cannot recreate the same taste as my mom’s. It’s very simple but very tastyyy.
Tumblr media

- 10-12 pieces of prawns
- 2 onions and 2 garlic
- 2 spoon dried chilli
- 1 egg (optional)
- salt
- oil
- if got veges, can put also (ours not in stock hence no veges today 🤣)
Steps:
1. Put oil inside the frying pan/wok. Wait until hot
2. Then put in the onions, garlic and dried chilli. Wait until all turn brown-ish/crispy.
3. Put in the prawns and wait until semi-cooked
4. Put in the egg and rice (veges can be put at the same time as rice)
5. Flavor it with salt. Then wait until all fully cooked and voilaa! Enjoy your fried rice 🤤 hope you guys like it!

Prawn and Courgette Pasta (1 spoon)
I sort of have my mother to thank for this one - not because she gave me the recipe, but because she came to raid my balcony herb garden this afternoon. She wanted dill for some mackerel dish, which got me thinking about things I could do with the packet of prawns I got in this month’s grocery shop. They had to be eaten today, and that started the usual ADHD pinball of neurons - dill goes well with prawns, prawns are seafood, the other seafood dish I know well is my tuna broccoli lemon pasta, lemon also goes well with seafood, could use broccoli but I have a courgette and that’s a nicer summer vegetable... Suffice to say, I thought I’d experiment a bit. The result was a tart, tangy pasta dish that could probably be eaten cold as pasta salad and either way is a nice light dish for the summer.
Here’s what you’ll need:
About half a bag of pasta
1.5 cups or so raw king prawns
1 mid-sized red onion, chopped
1 mid-sized courgette (zucchini), chopped
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup lemon juice
3-4 cloves garlic (or 1 tablespoon garlic puree)
3 or 4 sprigs of fresh dill
Salt and pepper to taste
You could probably use dried dill if you really wanted, but I’ve never actually tried to use dried dill so I couldn’t tell you. Let me tell you, stuff like this got a lot easier when I started growing my own.
Here’s what you do:
Boil the pasta; set aside when mostly done to let it finish cooking slowly
Melt butter in a deep frying pan; add garlic and heat for 1-2 minutes, then add courgette and onion and sautee on medium heat for about 5 minutes, or until the onions are translucent
Add lemon juice, dill, and salt and pepper, let heat for 1 minute, then add prawns and sautee on medium-low heat for another 5 minutes
Drain the pasta; add to the pan with the prawns etc. Stir until the pasta is coated, and cook on low heat for 1-2 minutes so that all the flavours blend
Serve
This one honestly doesn’t need any notes about how to make it easier. It’s basically the tuna broccoli lemon pasta with fewer steps, and since the courgette and onion are chopped into chunks rather than sliced, I bypassed a lot of effort with my mandoline. I considered adding a tiny bit of chilli flake but thought it might overpower the dill, but now that I’ve tried it, I’m thinking just a tiny bit of dried chilli flake added at the same time as the lemon juice etc might be nice as a variation. Now, I used fusilli since I don’t have a lot of gluten-free options where that’s concerned, but it might be nice with a linguine too. Not spaghetti, though, because I think it needs a broader sort of noodle.

Recipes: Miss Chu’s rice paper rolls
Nahji Chu, referred to as the ‘Queen of Rice Paper Rolls’ and the mastermind behind Miss Chu, has introduced Sydneysiders and Melburnians to rice paper rolls with a tasty twist. The fillings often deviate from the usual you would expect in the more traditional combinations. I recently attended a class hosted by Nahji Chu and Northland Shopping Centre, and the recipes covered during the class are shown below:
Tumblr media
MISS CHU’S PEANUT AND HOISIN DIPPING SAUCE (250 ml)
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
3 tablespoons plum sauce
3 tablespoons satay sauce or crunchy peanut butter
½ cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons lime or lemon juice
Optional: 1 clove crushed garlic and 1 tablespoon Sriracha chilli sauce or fresh chilli.
Methods:
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl for immediate use or store in a jar, refrigerated, for later use.
TIGER PRAWN AND GREEN MANGO RICE PAPER ROLLS
(makes 12)
Ingredients:
1 bunch Vietnamese mint
1 bunch coriander
1 bunch shiso leaves
¼ iceberg lettuce, shredded
1 green mango, peeled and shredded
12 large round rice paper sheets
100 g vermicelli noodles, cooked and drained
12 large cooked tiger prawns, shelled and deveined
1 Lebanese cucumber, julienned
6 tablespoons roasted ground rice
Optional: crushed pork crackling
DIPPING SAUCE:
½ cup hoisin sauce
½ cup plum sauce
2 tablespoons hot chilli sauce
1 tablespoon tamarind puree
3 tablespoons satay sauce or crunchy peanut butter
Juice of 1 lime
Methods:
To prepare the dipping sauce, combine all the ingredient in a bowl and set aside.
Reserve 12 mint and 12 shiso leaves. Chop the remainder and combine with the lettuce.
Dip one sheet of rice paper into warm water for a few seconds, then place on a clean surface. Place a shiso and mint leaf in the centre of the rice paper and top with rice vermicelli, mint and lettuce mixture, a prawn, cucumber and mango. Sprinkle with ½ teaspoon of the ground rice (and crushed pork crackling).
Roll up neatly. Repeat with remaining rice paper sheets and filling.
Serve immediately with dipping sauce.
DILL EGG OMELETTE, BALSAMIC CARAMELISED ONION AND AVOCADO RICE PAPER ROLLS
(makes 12) Ingredients:
1 bunch Vietnamese mint
1 bunch coriander
1 bunch shiso leaves
¼ iceberg lettuce, shredded
1 large avocado, cut into 12 long strips
12 large round rice paper sheets
100 g vermicelli noodles, cooked and drained
1 Lebanese cucumber, julienned
6 teaspoons roasted ground rice
Optional: fried shallots
EGG OMELETTE:
6 eggs
½ small bunch dill
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon white pepper
BALSAMIC CARAMELISED ONION:
4 brown onions, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
Methods:
To prepare the egg omelette:
On a flat non-stick crepe pan (the size of a dinner plate), make 3 egg omelettes, which should take 1 minute on each side to cook.
Cut the egg into 2 x 5 cm strips.

Top 10 foods for fitness
Tumblr media
What are the top 10 foods for fitness?
1. Cow’s milk
Tumblr media
By Thealthiest Web Desk: With hydrating water, muscle-healing protein, refueling sugar, and bone-healthy calcium, milk is an excellent choice for those who are increasing their level of physical activity. Thanks to its slow-digesting casein and ability to support sleep-inducing melatonin, a glass of tepid milk before bedtime may also help you fade off and get the rest you need.
Fitness benefits
Chocolate milk has always been an endurance athlete favorite. It may sound deleterious, but it contains the two essential constituents you need after a workout: carbohydrates for energy and protein for muscle repair. A fruit beverage or fruit smoothie prepared at home will also suffice.
Recipes to try
Super berry smoothie Cranberry and raspberry smoothie Avocado and strawberry smoothie
2. Dried fruit
Tumblr media
Dried fruits (such as apricots, raisins, and mango) provide a concentrated source of carbohydrates, which makes them an excellent source of energy. Every bite will also provide you with dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals, including potassium.
Fitness benefits
If you can't tolerate energy gels, dried fruit is a wonderful natural alternative because it is rich in carbohydrates that provide energy. Aim for one to two servings prior to a race and two to three servings per hour of running. (one serving is roughly three dried figs).
As with all consumables, competitors should experiment with dehydrated fruit during training and not on the day of the competition.
Recipes to try
Dried fruit energy nuggets Choc orange energy boosters Energy balls
3. Broccoli (and other green veg)
Tumblr media
Broccoli, kale, spinach, and green cabbage are among the most nutrient-dense foods you'll discover. They contain antioxidants that combat free radicals, fiber that aids in digestion, and an army of vitamins and minerals. They are also an excellent source of folate, which is believed to be beneficial for cardiac health and for women who are trying to conceive.
Fitness benefits
When it comes to bone-building calcium, plant-based foods like broccoli and kale are a healthful alternative to dairy products. Low calcium levels make you more susceptible to stress fractures, especially if you participate in endurance athletics; therefore, make sure you consume enough calcium – the NHS recommends 700mg per day for adults.
Recipes to try
Ginger, sesame, chilli prawn & broccoli stir-fry Chicken, kale & mushroom pot pie Creamy garlic & lemon spinach salmon
4. Sweet potatoes
Tumblr media
Sweet potatoes are versatile, provide disease-fighting beta-carotene, iron, fiber, and vitamin C, and count as one of your daily five servings. They may be pureed, baked, or prepared as paté.
Fitness benefits
Sweet potatoes are an excellent supplement to a carb-loading diet, particularly before a half marathon. In addition, they are rich in the electrolyte potassium, which can help prevent cramping during exercise.
Recipes to try
Sweet potato & peanut curry Crispy cod wedges with sweet potato wedges
5. Bananas
Tumblr media
Bananas are the ideal fitness food because they are small, portable, easy to digest, and loaded with nutrients. Don't discard the skin so quickly, however, as Taiwanese dietitians discovered that it contains not only more potassium, but also mood-boosting serotonin and eye-protecting lutein. Try the entire banana, including the rind, in a smoothie.
Fitness benefits
Bananas contain slightly more energy than other fruits, but the majority of their calories come from carbohydrates, making them ideal for refueling before, during, and after exercise. In addition, they are loaded with potassium, which may prevent muscle spasms during exercise.
Recipes to try
Mango & banana smoothie Malt loaf with banana & honey Peanut butter & banana on toast
