It’s been a whirlwind body week+ and today I had the delight of an excited dog landing full force on my left hip causing a cascade of functionality drop. Feeling such gratitude for the folks I was supposed to be on different zoom calls/sessions with today moving plans to the weekend or next week. Gratitude to my Boy helping get me standing, fed, drugged, into/out of baths, even getting my shoes on so I could take an Uber home. I need home time. One of the challenges with my body adventures though is that if it is hip, knee, back, general vertigo, or Meniere’s related, going up and down stairs is tricky… if possible. Had the aha 2 weeks ago to offer keys to my building/home to a few extra folks, plus that if I remove the bug screens from a window I can toss my keys down so others can come up. I have such gratitude for the people in my life. For their generous spirits and open hearts. Now to battle internalized ableism mixed with the dance of not always being able to “prove” it is bad. Plus, to feel the love of well-intended offers of ideas that are not actually viable for me. Having groceries or food delivered, for example, is a well intended offer… but if I can’t go down 2 flights to then carry stuff back up… such a kind gift becomes a challenge I must now overcome. I feel the love, and, breathing deep, I also ask folks to know what helps someone else. What helps you might not help me. The golden rule states “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” A beautiful intention. I believe in the platinum rule, “do unto others as they actually want done.” Today I breathe, stretch, hold, whimper, breathe, hydrate, lay flat, stand up, move slow, move a centimeter at a time, letting tears flow and gasps escape. It is okay to be I say to myself. It is beautiful to be in community and a web that carries such love to and from me. Blessed to have those who do not say “get better soon,” as this is a long-term dance. Blessed be. Today is my third infusion to treat my ankylosing spondylitis. Getting these infusions is especially scary right now since they make me more susceptible to contracting illnesses, and I have to be in a clinic with other people to get them. Fortunately the clinic I go to takes many precautions, including providing a mask for while I'm here. Hopefully it helps to improve my condition in the long run though, I would love to be in less pain. The risks are worth it when it could help at all. In the meantime, I get to sit in a comfy chair with some white noise and a decent little ebook (By These Ten Bones by Clare B. Have you heard of Lipoedema ?
No probably not and hey im not surprised.
Let me tell you a little more about the chronic health condition that affects around 11% of the female population.
The info below is grabbed from the NHS website who have only just recently added this to there acknowledged conditions.
Lipoedema is a long-term (chronic) condition where there's an abnormal build-up of fat cells in the legs, thighs and buttocks, and sometimes in the arms.
The condition usually only affects women, although in rare cases it can also affect men.
Symptoms of lipoedema
In lipoedema, the thighs, buttocks, lower legs, and sometimes the arms, become enlarged due to a build-up of abnormal fat cells. Both legs and/or the arms are usually enlarged at the same time and to the same extent.
The feet and hands aren't affected, which creates a "bracelet" effect or "band-like" appearance just above the ankles and wrists.
Leg and arm size can vary between individuals with lipoedema, and the condition can gradually get worse over time.
As well as becoming enlarged, affected areas of the body may:
feel soft, "doughy" and cold 
bruise easily
ache or feel painful or tender
have small broken veins under the skin
Someone with lipoedema may eventually get fluid retention (lymphoedema) in their legs. This type of swelling can worsen by the end of the day and may improve overnight, whereas the fatty swelling of lipoedema is constant.
The combination of these symptoms can lead to reduced mobility and psychological issues, such as low self-esteem.
There's been little research into lipoedema, so there's some uncertainty about the best way to treat the condition.
Causes of lipoedema
The cause of lipoedema isn't known, but in some cases there's a family history of the condition. It seems likely that the genes you inherit from your parents play a role.
Lipoedema tends to start at puberty or at other times of hormonal change, such during pregnancy or the menopause, which suggests hormones may also have an influence.
