I kind of enjoy the thought, not that they have a whole musical number, but of the older maids giving the new ones full rundowns of how things work.

Prefects aren't necessarily a thing, but most new maids get thrown in with a group of seasoned ones and the maids that have been there longer instruct the new girls on how to survive (as best they can), and be efficient at their jobs.

Though not all of them are nice about it.

I think a lot of maids looked at Melony and collectively though "She'll be dead in a week" but she actually did quite well at her job, and most other staff liked having her around. She didn't provide much for conversation, though.
