Let me share you some examples of people outside of a spiritual realm using the law of consciousness. Reading about placebo opened my eyes to realize whether I believe it or not, use it or not, it is always operating.
1. During wartime, particularly in World War II, when medical supplies were limited, the use of a saline solution as a placebo became prevalent. One notable figure associated with this practice is Henry Beecher, a medic during the war. When morphine, a powerful painkiller, was scarce, Beecher resorted to injecting injured soldiers with a saline solution (a mixture of salt and water) as a substitute. The fascinating observation was that many soldiers responded positively to the saline placebo, reporting a reduction in pain. Beecher’s experience led him to further investigate what is now known as the placebo effect. He discovered that even inert substances like saline could elicit a therapeutic response in individuals, highlighting the power of belief and the mind’s influence on healing. Using saline as a placebo during wartime was a practical solution to address the scarcity of medical resources. It allowed healthcare providers to provide some form of treatment while conserving limited supplies for critical cases. The phenomenon observed in these wartime placebo administrations contributed to our understanding of the placebo effect and its role in medical practices.
2. And then there was another placebo test done with surgeries demonstrated the power of the placebo effect in the context of surgical interventions for knee pain.
The study, often referred to as the “fake leg surgery” study, focused on patients with osteoarthritis in the knee. Participants were randomly assigned to either receive real arthroscopic surgery or undergo a sham procedure where no actual surgical intervention took place. The sham surgery involved making small incisions and mimicking the actions and sounds associated with the actual procedure. The surprising finding was that both groups, those who underwent real surgery and those who had the sham surgery, reported similar improvements in their knee pain and functionality. This suggested that the positive outcomes experienced by the participants were not necessarily due to the physical intervention but rather to psychological factors such as the placebo effect.
3. The most fascinating one was this one: The study aimed to explore the role of mindset in reversing some aspects of aging.
In this experiment, Langer and her team created a simulated environment reminiscent of the 1950s to immerse a group of elderly participants. The participants were instructed to act as though they were 20 years younger and encouraged to engage in activities that required physical and mental activity. It aimed to create an atmosphere where the participants felt as if they were stepping back in time. The results of the experiment were described as astonishing. Participants reportedly experienced improvements in various areas, including physical health, cognition, and overall well-being. The study suggested that by changing one’s mindset and engaging in an environment that challenges typical aging stereotypes, individuals may experience positive effects on various aspects of their lives.
4. The Man Who Overdosed on Placebo" is a story about a 26-year-old man, often referred to as "Mr. A," who was part of a clinical trial for an antidepressant drug. In a desperate state of mind, he attempted suicide by ingesting 29 capsules of what he believed to be the experimental drug. This act was triggered by his depression, which had worsened after a breakup with his girlfriend.
However, unbeknownst to him, the pills he had taken were not the actual antidepressant, but rather placebos - essentially inert substances, often sugar pills, used in clinical trials as a control group. Despite this, Mr. A's vitals showed alarming signs similar to those of a drug overdose, reflecting the power of belief over the physical body, a phenomenon known as the "nocebo effect."
The nocebo effect is essentially the evil twin of the placebo effect. While the placebo effect can lead to improvements in health due to positive expectations, the nocebo effect can cause negative symptoms or even exacerbate existing ones due to negative expectations. In this case, Mr. A exhibited symptoms of an overdose solely because he believed he had taken an overdose.
5. Sam Londe, is one of the best but sad classic example of the nocebo effect, as detailed in Dr. Joe Dispenza's book "You Are the Placebo."
Sam Londe was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, a condition known for its grim prognosis. His doctors informed him that he didn't have much time left to live. Accepting this diagnosis, Londe quickly became bedridden and his health deteriorated rapidly, following the trajectory his doctors had predicted. However, upon his death, an autopsy revealed a surprising fact: there was not enough cancer in his body to have caused his death. The small tumor in his esophagus was not large enough or in a position to interfere with his swallowing or breathing. Essentially, Londe didn't die from cancer; he died from believing he was dying of cancer.
This case demonstrates the power of the mind over the body, both positively (the placebo effect) and negatively (the nocebo effect). In this case, Londe's negative beliefs about his prognosis led to physical symptoms and ultimately his death.
I've seen dozens of examples where of stuff like this particularly in the realms of hexing and witchcraft. Honestly, the same could probably be said about subliminals. But it doesn't matter much. Why? Because they work. It's all about observation and choice. You could say it’s the mind but the mind operates on logic. This goes beyond the mind and to your true being, what observes the mind observing the pain in the first place.
Actually I was talking to someone who had been struggling with shifting for a while about this and it really resonated with her which is why I decided to share it. She took a water bottle, labeled it shifting juice and just assumed that when she finishes the bottle she has “full access to shifting powers” is that how it works. Nope. Did she shift after two years of struggling. Yep. It doesn’t matter what story you create yourself whether you want to use logic or not whatever you assume and persist in and know as a fact will harden into truth and therefore reality.I just wanted to share this story bc I find it absolutely hilarious how we sometimes take it so seriously yet it can be so easy. I know placebo is just an assumption. It’s like when you tell children you checked under their bed for the monsters and drafted them and they assume so so they can sleep soundly at night. Call it whatever you want assumption, placebo, it’s all just words and each community calls it something different but at the end of the day it works wether you know the truth behind it or not.

The FUCKING CUPIDO missed his DAMN ARROW AND NOW MY BESTIE IS IN LOVE WITH ME
I am AROACE AND VERY HAPPY ABOUT NOT LIVING THIS SHITTY ROMCOM MOVIE
SEND HELP PLEASE THEY WANT TO
*GASP*
*whisper* hold hands under the moonlight!!!!!???!!!!!!
Oh for pity's sake. This is the reason we need proper licensing laws around this kind of activity. It's all very well to acknowledge the importance of cultural expression, but these things must be done responsibly! Every year, hundreds of people in the UK are victims of misfired Cupid's arrows, causing romantic chaos up and down the country.
It may be a comfort to know that any claims that Cupids' arrows cause “true love” are vastly exaggerated. For one thing, clinical trials have thoroughly disproven any claims that magical intervention can cause true love. One cannot wake a sleeping princess with a kiss from someone under the thrall of a love potion, after all.
At most, your friend is feeling a sort of giddy infatuation with you. If you were to respond in kind, and devote yourself to developing the relationship, then you might well come to develop real feelings for each other. But that would be true whether this unfortunate accident had taken place or not. After all, what is a relationship if not feelings given time and attention?
Fortunately, the opposite is also true. If your friend's feelings are left unacknowledged, they will dissipate in a matter of days. I recommend taking yourself off for a long weekend away, and leaving your friend to deal with their emotions by themselves.
Things may be a little awkward between the two of you upon your initial return. But it's important for both of you to remember that these feelings are not real, and are not founded in any real desires on your friend's part. Under ordinary circumstances, I'm sure they would never dream of infringing on your romantic boundaries in such a way.

Well the comics did a good job squandering any sympathy and shiz for dicklander, and the show too. I only feel bad for his child self. His grown ass can get attacked by rabid kryptonian dogs for all I care.
i disagree.
and look, i ain't gonna tell you how to feel boo, i can't obviously. i can only spew out nonsense and hope i might reach you or someone else who comes along to read my long winded bullshit.
but while both renditions are pieces of shit, i feel so much for comics homie too if not more. he's even more whoobie than show homie but gets dismissed but i digress.
throughout the story, we're made to feel *suspicious* about the claims on homelander or that his story may have more than meets the eye. ennis presents it point blank. he doesn't tell the reader how to feel about homelander, or anything, or anyone. he makes it clear how billy feels, how other characters feel, but he also certainly makes it show that things aren't quite adding up about him and billy's claim. he presents the story and lets *you* the reader feel (which is what real *good* writing does)
BUT it's framed out in a way to make the reader realize he *wasn't* this big bad awful guy he was made out to be, a piece of shit sure, but and not the real monster they were after, that billy was fuckin' wrong (like his dumb ass always is), that his end and final point in the story was manipulated, coerced by outside force, and not truly justified as a result.
leik, this guy got his WHOLE LIFE fucking RUINED, his whole self image, gaslit into fucking oblivion to *believe* he was a bad guy until he *became* a bad guy, after literally never once getting a *choice* for anything, ever, at all, at any point in his whole gotdamn life.
this boi never had a chance... and even after ALL that. people STILL want to control or punish him when he lacks one major vital thing that would warrant him *actually* deserving that.
AGENCY. fucking agency, the answer is agency, homelander has none of it, never has, and still does not have it. (he pretends to but it's not quite the same, the lack of it is what makes him a ticking time bomb)
you seem like someone to really value your own agency so idk, i feel like you should get that??
BUT GOTDAMN LET THE BOI JUST FUCKING BREATHE AT LEAST ONCE PLEASE????
UGH
just try to imagine if every single choice in your life was made *for you* by *someone else*, and that's homelander. and it doesn't stop into adulthood, it just turns into a fucking fucked up conservatorship beside someone who wants to kill you, oh yeah, and stunted growth so you never get a chance to really grow up and feel like or be your own person either.
like i'm not kidding, he might as well be a child STILL in that regard and it is super fucked up how often people exploit and groom him that way. i don't care if he's fucking 16, 40, or in his 70s, the man *ain't* grown like he should be and *needs* the space to actually *grow* before we decide to fucking judge him, else we're no better than his abusers.
and when a kid commits a crime, it's the parents/guardians that are brought up on charges/trial. there is a *reason* for that.
homelander's very clear lack of sanity/mental capacity and vought being his 'guardian'/conservator?? (if he even is a real legal person...) would put him under this spectrum of bullshit, and baby i don't want to say it's ableist not to acknowledge this, but...
i mean if i'm being real, it kinda sorta is...?? wait... HOLD THE--- FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!! OH MY FUCKING SATAN--it IS!! and I JUST GOT WHIPLASH FROM WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THE BOYS FANDOM WHEN IT COMES TO HOMELANDER.
this motherfucker is *CRIMINALLY INSANE*, emphasis on that last fucking part, in every sense of the word *CLINICALLY*. and when that happens, even the fucking laws in the fucked ol' U.S. of A. DO NOT 'punish' a mofo by regular 'incarceration', they still order institutionalization but with a HOSPITAL for TREATMENT. (granted there are a whole mess of other problems in this country that still do not handle this properly jesus fucking christ--)
ABLEISM! it's fucking ableism that doesn't let fandom recognize this!! EVEN some of the people who claim to love him!!
except THEN make it WORSE on top of everything *because* of the stunted growth and vought AND limited personal agency and... fuck me... UGGGGGGHHHHHHH--
but THAT is homelander. and uh... yeah. yeah, you'd probably lose your gotdamn mind too, i don't think ANYONE could walk out sane, realistically speaking. pain is easy to say we'd walk out clean from, and then we all turn into pussies the *second* it's our turn to deal.
and the whole point of the twist is to rob you of any satisfaction of his death and make you angry at his circumstances rather than at him. again, ennis doesn't explicitly *tell* readers how to feel because it's more of a graphic novel but...
Tumblr media
i personally think the show is aiming to recreate this effect because if they can pull it off (and manage to make an entire population feel like utter ableist shitheads for wanting him dead), then they'll be pulling off some kinda magical MAJOR amazing heist of the feels for the ages that will *hopefuly* be enough to push society in some better directions than its current state (man, we really could not have asked for a better time for this series... holy shit--)
as much as it pains me, *this* was why he was killed in the comics. not just for... ugh, sadness, realism... but because it was *part* of the lesson in exemplifying what was actually wrong.
man i am just way too fucking hyper analytical with this shit and also sometimes SO SLOW i--

ARTICLE TEXT:
Puberty blockers, which pause the physical changes of puberty such as breast development or facial hair, will now only be available to children as part of clinical research trials.
It follows a public consultation on the issue and an interim policy, and comes after NHS England commissioned an independent review in 2020 of gender identity services for children under 18.
That review, led by Dr Hilary Cass, followed a sharp rise in referrals to the Gender Identity Development Service (Gids) run by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, which is closing at the end of March.
The clinic has come under repeated scrutiny.
In February 2022, Dr Cass published an interim report saying there was a need to move away from one unit and recommended the creation of regional services to better support youngsters.
She also pointed to a lack of long-term evidence and data collection on what happens to children and young people who are prescribed medication.
She added that Gids had not collected routine and consistent data “which means it is not possible to accurately track the outcomes and pathways that children and young people take through the service.”
Following the Tavistock’s closure, two new NHS services will now open in early April, situated in London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
The NHS has said children attending these clinics will be supported by clinical experts in neurodiversity, paediatrics and mental health, “resulting in a holistic approach to care”.
Former prime minister Liz Truss, who has mooted an amendment to the Health and Equalities act, that includes a ban on the prescription of body-altering hormones to children questioning their sex, both privately and on the NHS, said: “I welcome NHS England’s decision to end the routine prescription of puberty blockers to children for gender dysphoria.
"I urge the government to back my Bill on Friday which will reinforce this in law and also prevent these drugs being supplied privately.”
Health minister, Maria Caulfield, said: “We have always been clear that children’s safety and wellbeing is paramount, so we welcome this landmark decision by the NHS.
“Ending the routine prescription of puberty blockers will help ensure that care is based on evidence, expert clinical opinion and is in the best interests of the child.”
The consultation on the future of services received more than 4,000 responses, including around a quarter from members of the public, 22% from patients, 21% from parents, 10% from trans adults and 5% from clinicians.
John Stewart, national director of specialised commissioning at NHS England said: “Given that the debate is often very polarised, so too were the responses to the consultation.
“Many people said the policy didn’t go far enough in terms of still allowing potential access (to puberty blockers) through research, and others saying clearly they disagreed fundamentally and that these should be routinely available to everyone who believes they need it.”
Regarding the new clinics, he said: “This is just the first step in building a regional model, where our aim is to establish between seven and eight specialist centres including the north and the south hubs over the next year to two years.”
Around 250 patients are expected to be transferred to the new clinics from Gids when they open.
Some 5,000 more children and young people are currently on the waiting list for referral into the new clinics.

@eddiemonth prompt, oct 21st:  Hellfire | Back in Black - AC/DC | Tenacious a/n: so, I've written about Eddie inheriting Hellfire. now, it's time to write about Eddie founding Hellfire! he's a little shit in this one, and I love him so much it's nearly clinical. wrote this in the car on the way to my in-law's family party so it'll go up on ao3 later 🦇 ao3 collection | tumblr masterlist
“Mr. Munson,” the principal starts, seated opposite Eddie across the desk. “You’re a freshman. Freshmen don’t start clubs here. Why don’t you look around a little, broaden your horizons. There are some wonderful sports and music opportu–”
Eddie’s arms are crossed over his chest and he sits with both legs stretched out in front of him, ankles crossed. “It’s Eddie, and no. Why can’t I start a club? Why do only upperclassmen get to? Or is this just because it’s a Dungeons and Dragons club?”
As if I’d wanna go and join the kids who look at me like the spawn of fucking Satan, he wants to say, but he needs to play it cool, hard as that may be. Or at least unless the principal, whose name he hasn’t bothered to commit to memory yet, doubles down on his refusal; then, all bets are off.
“Of course not, we just encourage our youngest students to expand their interests. You might find that you’re good at something surprising or–”
Eddie knows that interrupting over and over again won’t help his case, but he can’t help himself. Hearing the same bullshit over and over again is infuriating and there’s no good reason that he can’t start a Dungeons and Dragons club for himself and the other kids with wild imaginations and nowhere else to go after that final school bell.
“Or, maybe starting a new club will let students try something new, something that’s been shit on for years that they otherwise may not get the chance to try?”
The principal levels him with an exasperated look and a heavy sigh before leaning forward on his forearms over the clunky wooden desk.
“Mr. Munson–”
“It’s Eddie,” Eddie insists for the second time. Mr. Munson is his dad and the name gives him a chill. He may carry a pocketknife and know how to hotwire a car, but he’s still no Al Munson.
Another sigh. “Eddie. The day’s almost over, can we continue this discussion tomorrow? Buses will be lining up any minute.”
Now or never, he thinks to himself.
“Well, then you have about a minute to make a decision. Can I start it or not? Maybe even on a, uh, a trial basis?” He shrugs and smiles with pursed lips and a raised eyebrow.
Principal Whatever His Name Is drops his head for a second before looking back up at Eddie. “You’ve worn me down, Mr. Mun– Eddie. Trial basis only, and you need a faculty member to sponsor it. If you can do your due diligence, I’ll allow it.”
“Great!” Eddie claps once and stands. “Mr. Clarke already agreed, so I think we’re all set here. Good doing business with you.”
“Wait–”
The bell rings, saving Eddie like it has so many times in the past. He’s halfway out the door, stepping into the stampede of students running for buses, when he turns back around to see the principal shaking his head and rolling his eyes.
“You know, my Uncle always says if you roll your eyes too much, they’ll get stuck like that.”
Without another word, he slips into the tide and loads his bus, taking a seat in the back alone and whipping out his notebook and a black marker. Shades of black and red color the lined pages in the form of devils and demons and the words Hellfire Club hover above each sketch.
Good thing I didn’t tell him the name.

According to an analysis, published this month in the International Journal of Vaccine Theory, Practice, and Research, of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial data, the vaccine makers hid fatality data from regulators in order to qualify for Emergency Use Authorization.
Pfizer-BioNTech delayed reporting vaccine-associated deaths among BNT162b2 clinical trial participants until after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the product.
The vaccine makers also failed to account for a large number of subjects who dropped out of the trial.
Together, these strategies kept regulators and the public ignorant of a 3.7-fold increase in cardiac deaths among subjects who received the vaccine, according to analysis in the International Journal of Vaccine Theory, Practice, and Research.
The authors of the paper described it as a “forensic analysis,” defined by the U.S. National Institute for Standards and Technology as “the use of scientific methods or expertise to investigate crimes or examine evidence that might be presented in a court of law.”

Fictional Ties | Zhang Hao ZB1
Tumblr media
Summary : In a web of familial expectations, pretense, and unexpected feelings, Y/N and Zhanghao navigate the complexities of a fake relationship, only to discover the genuine connection that has been there all along.
Genre : Fake Dating, Romantic Comedy, Drama, Contemporary Romance, Coming-of-Age, Slice of Life, Family Drama, Fem Reader
Warnings : N/A
Word Count : 4.8k
Notes : I KNOWWW I'm not finished the RIcky fic yet but if I'm being honest it's kinda feeling like a chore & I wrote a whole plan & story structure like last night so I couldn't help myself
In the wake of Y/N's triumphant completion of her bachelor's degree in dentistry, a sense of anticipation and familial expectations cast shadows upon her future. Hailing from a family of affluence and prestige, Y/N found herself standing at the threshold of a two-year clinical practice, the final leg of her journey to becoming an orthodontist. The air was thick with the weight of expectations, as her family, rooted in tradition, pressed for Y/N to settle down before immersing herself in the demanding world of orthodontics.
Amidst the quiet turmoil of Y/N's familial crossroads, a figure from her university days, Zhanghao, emerged as a steadfast companion. Having earned his legal degree and aspiring to carve a path in corporate law, Zhanghao found himself in the anticipation-laden limbo before embarking on his practical legal training. As life beckoned them towards uncharted territories, the bond between Y/N and Zhanghao would face new trials, testing the delicate balance between personal aspirations and societal expectations.
Tumblr media
The agreement to catch up had been long overdue, the culmination of their individual journeys post-graduation. Y/N, having successfully completed her dentistry degree and venturing into the realm of clinical practice, agreed to meet Zhanghao, her close friend since their university days. As the sun dipped below the horizon, they found themselves at the familiar entrance of the local coffee shop, a nostalgic spot that bore witness to countless conversations during their academic years.
The bell above the door chimed softly as Y/N and Zhanghao stepped into the warmth of the coffee shop. The aroma of freshly ground coffee beans filled the air, triggering memories of late-night study sessions and laughter echoing within these walls. It was a place that held the essence of their shared past. The barista greeted them with a knowing smile, acknowledging the familiarity that exuded from the duo. They chose a corner table, the same one they occupied during countless university meet-ups, and settled into the plush chairs.
As Y/N ordered her favorite latte, the ambiance of the coffee shop transformed into a sanctuary for catching up. The whir of the espresso machine and the murmur of conversations formed a backdrop as the two friends began to unravel the threads of their daily lives. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air, enhancing the atmosphere of nostalgia that enveloped them.
"How's your family been?" Zhanghao inquired, his eyes reflecting genuine interest. Y/N, sipping her latte, felt a nervous flutter in her chest. She paused for a moment before responding, "Well, they're pressuring me to settle down, but you know me—I'm not really ready for a serious relationship." The vulnerability in her voice resonated in the air, setting the tone for a candid conversation. "It's my Dad's birthday soon, though, so he'll be expecting a lot since it's been a while since I've seen them," Y/N added, the weight of familial expectations evident in her words.
There was a momentary silence, a shared understanding lingering between them. Zhanghao, sensing Y/N's unease, broke the quietude with an unexpected proposal. "I can be your fake boyfriend if you want," he suggested, a genuine smile playing on his lips. Y/N, surprised by the offer, looked at him questioningly. "Really? You would do that for me?" she asked, the sincerity of her inquiry hanging in the air. "If it appeases your family, then sure," Zhanghao replied, his smile unwavering. The exchange concluded with a handshake, sealing a pact that would weave their lives into a fabricated dance of companionship for the sake of familial expectations.
Tumblr media
After the candid catch-up at the coffee shop the previous day, Y/N and Zhanghao wasted no time. They both hurriedly retreated to their homes, filled with a sense of anticipation and the practicality of packing for the imminent trip. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the echo of shared laughter lingered in their minds, blending seamlessly with the tasks at hand.
The next morning, a gentle knock on Y/N's door heralded the beginning of a new chapter. Zhanghao, punctual and ready for the journey, stood at her doorstep just as the first rays of sunrise painted the sky in hues of pink and gold. Y/N greeted him with a smile, her large black duffel bag slung casually around her arm. Zhanghao's eyes met hers, and with a gesture of chivalry, he offered, "Let me take that for you." Y/N willingly surrendered the weight of her bag, and Zhanghao effortlessly carried it to the trunk of his car. With her front door securely locked, Y/N joined Zhanghao in the passenger seat, marking the beginning of a road trip that held the promise of familial expectations and uncharted territories.
As the engine hummed to life, Zhanghao typed the address of the hotel into the GPS, a beacon guiding them towards their destination. The quiet hum of the highway accompanied Y/N as she began to unravel the details of the trip. "So my Dad's a CEO of this technology company," she explained, her words weaving a narrative of corporate grandeur. "Once we arrive at the hotel, we have to explore the city with my family." Zhanghao chuckled, the familiarity of their conversation putting them at ease. "What does that have to do with your Dad being a CEO?" he teased as the scenery unfurled beyond the car windows. "Tonight, we're having a big dinner at this fancy restaurant with his associates, four of his close friends, and more people from my family," Y/N continued, painting a picture of an opulent evening. "Doesn't sound too complex," Zhanghao remarked, steering the conversation into the realm of simplicity. "Well, they're gonna be asking a lot of questions," she added, a hint of nervousness in her voice. "Fine by me," Zhanghao shrugged, the easygoing nature of their banter settling any lingering apprehensions.
And so, they continued to drive down the open road, a journey that held not only the promise of a familial charade but also the unspoken nuances of companionship and discovery. The hum of the highway became a backdrop for the unfolding chapters of their shared adventure.
Tumblr media
After three hours of traversing scenic landscapes and winding roads, Y/N and Zhanghao finally arrived at the lavish hotel that would serve as their home during this unexpected escapade. The grand edifice stood before them, radiating opulence under the golden hues of the setting sun.
The exterior of the hotel was a testament to luxury, its facades gleaming in the sunlight. "This is not what I expected at all," Zhanghao commented, his eyes scanning the architectural elegance of the building as he unloaded their luggage. "I told you, CEO Father," Y/N chuckled, a playful glint in her eyes, setting the tone for the indulgent experience awaiting them inside. The two embarked on their journey through the polished entrance, stepping into a world where every surface seemed to shimmer with affluence.
Once inside, they found themselves immersed in an ambiance of pure luxury. The intricately designed interior boasted ornate furnishings, gleaming marble floors, and an aura of extravagance. Y/N and Zhanghao approached the reception desk, where the attentive staff ensured their seamless check-in process. After securing a room on the sixth floor, they stepped into the elevator, a cocoon of silence enveloping them.
"Is this overwhelming for you?" Y/N inquired, her eyes reflecting concern as the elevator ascended. "Nope, not really," Zhanghao nonchalantly shrugged, a calm demeanor masking any potential apprehension. The silence lingered briefly before Y/N broke it with a genuine expression of gratitude. "I'm grateful that you came with me," she confessed, a smile gracing her lips. "It's no worries at all," Zhanghao grinned, offering comfort through a reassuring rub on her shoulder.
Upon reaching their designated floor, they traversed wide, fancy hallways adorned with artistic touches, eventually arriving at their room. As the door swung open, natural light poured in, casting a warm glow on every inch of the meticulously arranged space. "I'd love to stay in here for an hour at least," Y/N remarked, appreciating the serenity of their temporary haven. Zhanghao, with a gentle smile, reminded her of their impending plans. "Well, we have to get ready to go to the city," he said, marking the beginning of the next chapter in their venture. With that, they both immersed themselves in the task of transforming their appearances to meet the standards set by Y/N's esteemed family.
Tumblr media
To create a lasting impression right from the start, Y/N and Zhanghao meticulously coordinated their attire, both opting for a timeless theme of black and white. Just a couple of steps away from the designated meet-up point, they paused, a shared anticipation hanging in the air. Not yet approaching, they deliberated on the perfect entrance. "What shall we do?" Zhanghao asked, seeking guidance for their grand debut. "What are your boundaries?" Y/N questioned in return. "Nothing really," he shrugged. With an unspoken agreement, she began to wrap her hands around his arm, a gesture of unity as they approached her family, adorned with smiles that concealed any underlying nerves.
As they neared the family, the Ahns greeted them with pleased looks on their faces, the synchronized elegance of Y/N and Zhanghao not going unnoticed. A series of prim and proper greetings ensued as the family exchanged pleasantries. Y/N's mother, after releasing a warm hug, addressed Y/N, "You've never told me about your boyfriend, Y/N." Y/N turned to Zhanghao, already looking at her. With a small hand gesture, she beckoned him closer. "Zhanghao, meet my mother," Y/N introduced, initiating a handshake. "Hello Mrs. Ahn, my name is Zhanghao," he grinned politely. "It's really great to meet you," she smiled back, the warmth of acceptance evident in her gaze.
The entire family embarked on a journey through the city, exploring different landmarks and important buildings. "This city is so beautiful," Y/N commented, her eyes sparkling with amazement. "I know," Zhanghao replied shortly, the unspoken connection between them apparent. They exchanged smiles, a silent understanding that spoke volumes in the midst of the bustling cityscape.
After a leisurely stroll, they decided to venture into a small, albeit pricey, restaurant. "They sell the best Kobe Beef here!" Y/N's brother exclaimed with enthusiasm. "Your family seems very fond of this place," Zhanghao whispered to Y/N. "Mainly my brother, but my sister never really cared," she shrugged. Seated at the restaurant, they indulged in high-quality meals featuring juicy beef. Amidst the flavorful bites, the family continued to socialize, sharing laughter, stories, and creating an atmosphere of warmth that transcended the boundaries of familial expectations.
Tumblr media
As they returned to the sanctuary of their hotel room, the air was filled with a comfortable fullness from the delightful dinner. "You did very well to impress them," Y/N complimented, her voice carrying a note of approval. "I hope we were believable at least," Zhanghao smiled, a sense of satisfaction evident in his expression. "I'm sure we were," she reassured, confidence radiating from her. The successful charade had set a positive tone for the evening.
Transitioning from their casual attire, they delved into the realm of elegance. Y/N, with practiced grace, began to curl her hair, while Zhanghao, ever the debonair companion, parted his hair near the middle, revealing a sophisticated look. "You suit this hairstyle a lot," Y/N complimented his appearance, her eyes appreciating the transformation. "I'll keep that in mind when seeing your family," Zhanghao smiled, returning the favor. "But I'm the one that complimented you…?" Y/N looked confused. "Well then, this is the only time you'll see it," he teased before receiving a playful slap on the shoulder. "You're so mean to me!" she complained, the banter echoing through the room.
With their attire carefully selected, they adorned themselves with accessories that added a glimmer to their appearance. "Y/N!" Zhanghao called. "What's up!" she asked. "Can you help me put on my tie?" Y/N left the bathroom and approached Zhanghao. As she fixed his tie with little distance between them, she asked, "Do you not know how to put on a tie?" "This is the first time I'm wearing one," he commented. Looking up at him, Y/N met his piercing gaze. With one final knot, she finished, saying, "There you go." Zhanghao checked himself out in the mirror, teasingly asking, "Would you say I look handsome enough for your family?" "Whatever, let's go!" Y/N jokingly rolled her eyes, and together, they stepped foot outside of their hotel room.
Once again, they walked down the halls, the click of Y/N's heels resonating one step at a time as she walked beside Zhanghao, their coordinated elegance setting the stage for the next act in their charade.
Tumblr media
The restaurant exuded an air of exclusivity, its highly polished interior complemented by black-tinted windows that added a touch of mystery. The group was sizable, comprising nine members of the Ahn family, including Y/N's dad, ten of his associates, four close friends from high school, and the three partners of his children, among whom Zhanghao found his place. The entourage of 26 individuals made a grand entrance, the prestigious family name uttered by Y/N's dad opening the doors to the large and luxurious restaurant.
Arriving at a private room with a grand table, the middle seat reserved for Y/N's father, Y/N and Zhanghao found themselves seated next to each other, not too far away from her father. Warm welcomes were extended by Y/N's grandparents, aunt, and uncle, enveloping Zhanghao in a generous embrace. "How did you two meet?" Y/N's grandmother sweetly asked, her eyes filled with curiosity. "We met the moment we entered the same university together," Y/N replied, narrating their genuine story. "How did you two get together?" Her grandfather inquired. "I took her to a local coffee shop nearby, ordered her the same latte she always orders, and asked the big question." Zhanghao answered, and a shared smile passed between them as their eyes met.
As the evening progressed, orders were placed, with Y/N opting for pasta and Zhanghao choosing risotto, both adorned with white truffles. The table was set for a feast of flavors.
Once the meals were served, Y/N's father took the floor. "I'd just like to welcome today, my youngest daughter's boyfriend, who I had just met today." Applause followed as Zhanghao graciously bowed. "So, child, tell me, what are your plans for the future?" Y/N's father inquired, bringing a moment of thoughtful silence before Y/N responded. "Since I'm starting my clinical practice for 2 years and studying orthodontics after that, while Zhanghao is soon to start his practical legal training to begin his journey to become a corporate lawyer, I'd say we're both focusing on ourselves, our stability, and security with our careers and finance." Y/N smiled, but her father's reaction was less enthusiastic. "That's alright, just expected a bit more from you, though, Y/N," he commented, casting a shadow of disappointment over her. She stared at the ground, feeling displeased.
"We would like to get married, though, find a home to permanently stay at, and build a family," Zhanghao spoke up, breaking the silence. Y/N looked up, and her father's grin widened. "After everything else, though, of course," Zhanghao added. Y/N's dad, now pleased, announced to everyone, "That's more like it, everyone!" The room filled with applause, smiles, and nods, celebrating the future plans of Y/N and Zhanghao's relationship.
Tumblr media
After indulging in flavorful food and high-quality drinks, Y/N and Zhanghao returned to their hotel room, the echoes of the celebratory dinner still lingering in the air.
In the hushed ambiance of their private space, a storm brewed within Y/N. Panic consumed her as she grappled with the weight of the plans laid out at the dinner table. "It's just so much! Imagine all those hopes and expectations for us." Y/N's voice trembled, her chest constricting, breathing becoming a struggle. The room seemed to spin as she paced hurriedly, a cascade of worries and fears pouring out in a torrent. Her eyes welled with tears, and her mouth felt dry as she verbalized the overwhelming thoughts racing through her mind.
Witnessing Y/N's distress, Zhanghao approached her, gently holding her by her exposed shoulders. "Y/N, it's okay," he reassured, his voice a soothing balm. Drawing her into a soft hug, he whispered, "I'm sorry," as Y/N quietly began to sob. "I only said that because I saw how sad you were at your Dad's disapproval," he explained, tears mirroring Y/N's falling from his eyes. "We can always fake break up, okay? You can make it completely my fault and make me seem horrible so it doesn't have a bad image on you." As he let go of her and looked into her eyes, he added, "You don't have anything to worry about, okay? I'm always here for you anyway." A warm smile accompanied his reassurance as he gently wiped away her tears with his thumb. "Thank you, Zhanghao, for everything," Y/N grinned, small tears still escaping from her eyes.
"This is gonna sound really weird," Zhanghao began, his voice carrying a gentleness. "But do you want me to hold you tonight, maybe? I just don't want you to sleep in this state." He asked gently. "No, it's fine. Thank you for making me feel better, though," she smiled. As they began to get ready for bed, going through their night routines, they eventually found themselves in the same bed, a pillow placed between them.
Tumblr media
As the sun dawned on the next day, signaling the conclusion of their trip, the Ahn family decided to spend their remaining moments at a popular amusement park before heading home.
"I'm scared," Y/N whispered to Zhanghao as they stood in line for the roller coaster. "It's okay, it's just a roller coaster," Zhanghao reassured. Once on the ride, Y/N's screams echoed louder than Zhanghao's laughter, the twists, turns, and drops inducing a mix of fear and exhilaration.
The roller coaster adventure behind them, the family moved on to the towering and colorful Ferris ring car. Anticipation mingled with trepidation as Y/N, feeling uneasy, looked at Zhanghao. "Hold onto my hand if you get scared," he offered with a comforting smile. As they took their seats and the ride began, Y/N gripped Zhanghao's hand tightly. Their eyes met, and in that moment, a strange warmth enveloped Y/N, her heart racing uncontrollably as reality blurred with the spinning motion of the ride.
After trying out various rides, the family decided it was time to refuel. The image of Y/N and Zhanghao holding hands lingered in her mind as they sat down to eat. Zhanghao noticed her distant gaze, and he inquired, "What are you ordering?" "Just a corndog and coke, please," she replied. The shared ferris ring car moment played on repeat in her thoughts, leaving her questioning if Zhanghao was more than just a friend.
A face painting booth caught their attention, and everyone in the family wanted to get their faces painted. Y/N opted for a simple rose on her cheek, and the artist took extra care with the details. Zhanghao approached with a raccoon on his cheek, admiring Y/N's choice. The artist finished the rose, and Y/N marveled at the mirror, finding herself adorned with a beautifully shaded flower. The family then ventured to find accessories, with Zhanghao selecting a rose headband for Y/N. "To match with your cheek," he smiled as they admired her reflection. Y/N, determined to reciprocate, browsed through the limited selection for Zhanghao. Unable to find a raccoon headband, she suggested, "Do you just wanna match?" Zhanghao nodded, and they both snapped mirror selfies with their matching rose headbands before embarking on more rides at the park. The day at the amusement park became a vibrant chapter in their shared adventure, filled with laughter, shared moments, and the blossoming of something more than friendship.
Tumblr media
After a day filled with laughter and shared moments at the amusement park, the time came for Y/N and Zhanghao to pack up their bags and return to the realities awaiting them.
"Do you think we were successful?" Zhanghao questioned as they began their journey back. "Definitely," Y/N chuckled, her heart fluttering at the thought. "My dad loves you, and my mum made very nice comments about you, so we were definitely successful." Their smiles mirrored the contentment they felt, the shared success of their faux relationship adding an unexpected layer to their friendship.
As they drove, Y/N found herself admiring the tall trees and the vibrant hues of the sky as the sun began its descent, casting a warm glow over the landscape.
After another three hours on the road, they arrived at Y/N's house. "I'll help you with your things," Zhanghao offered. The two walked up to her door, and as Y/N opened it, Zhanghao placed her belongings on the ground. Gratitude filled Y/N's expression as she said, "I can't thank you enough for this." "Well, I care for you a lot, so of course, I'd help," Zhanghao giggled before pulling her into a warm hug. "I'll see you, Zhanghao!" she grinned. "On our next adventure!" he replied, returning her smile before hopping into his car and driving off. The echoes of their shared escapade lingered in Y/N's mind as she entered her home, grateful for the unexpected turns their journey had taken.

Chapter 10: Practices
In the unfolding chapters of their individual journeys, Y/N and Zhanghao delved into the intricate realms of their chosen careers. Y/N, now immersed in the bustling atmosphere of her dental clinical practice, found herself navigating through the daily tapestry of oral healthcare.
The scent of antiseptic lingered in the air as Y/N moved seamlessly through her responsibilities. Engaging in the artistry of dental procedures, she meticulously performed cleanings, her nimble fingers expertly navigating the contours of each tooth. With precision and care, she executed fillings, infusing renewed vitality into deteriorating enamel. Extractions, while a somber task, became a necessary skill in her repertoire, handled with both gentleness and efficiency.
Dental examinations became a routine, a meticulous inspection of oral landscapes. Y/N's keen eyes scanned for signs of decay, misalignment, or potential issues, each diagnosis a puzzle to solve. As she interacted with patients, she honed her ability to communicate complex dental findings in a way that was both understandable and comforting.
One day, curiosity led Y/N to the orthodontic realm, an area she aspired to explore further. Standing beside one of her seasoned colleagues, she observed the delicate artistry of creating and fitting dental appliances. The metallic gleam of braces adorned the workspace, and Y/N absorbed every nuance, expressing her desire to specialize in orthodontics.
Beyond the technical skills, Y/N embraced her role as an educator. Patient interaction extended beyond the chair, as she imparted valuable knowledge about oral hygiene practices. Her counseling extended beyond the clinical setting, empowering individuals to cultivate habits that would contribute to a lifetime of dental wellness.
In the symphony of dental care, Y/N found her rhythm. Each day brought new challenges and triumphs, as she honed her craft within the clinical confines. As Zhanghao embarked on his own journey in practice legal training, their parallel pursuits carved distinct paths toward professional fulfillment. The separate beats of their careers played on, harmonizing the melody of their individual growth.
Tumblr media
Nearly two weeks had passed since Y/N and Zhanghao delved into their respective careers. While occasional texts maintained a connection between them, their focus was primarily on navigating the challenges of their professional lives.
On a Friday evening, the familiar knock echoed through Y/N's doorway. Zhanghao stood on the other side, and Y/N welcomed him into her home with a warm smile.
Seated comfortably on her couch, the atmosphere shifted as Zhanghao began to open up. "I might need your help," he confessed, revealing the source of his stress – the upcoming Legal Awards Gala. "I'm expected to attend, since my mentor who is an experienced lawyer invited me," he explained.
Curiosity piqued, Y/N inquired, "What's wrong with that?" Zhanghao looked up, gauging her reaction. "He said that I should bring a date," he emphasized, and Y/N's eyes lit up with enthusiasm. "Of course!" she exclaimed, wrapping him in a hug. "Are you sure? I don't want to make you feel forced," Zhanghao questioned, concerned. Y/N assured him with a smile, "No, of course not. When is it?"
"Tomorrow night," Zhanghao replied. The room filled with laughter as they both shared a moment of light-heartedness. "As long as you pick me up, we'll be all good," Y/N playfully added, sealing the deal with a shared sense of excitement.
Tumblr media
The night of the Legal Awards Gala had arrived, and Y/N meticulously styled herself in a sophisticated black dress paired with a chic blazer. As she stepped outside, she found Zhanghao waiting for her, looking dapper in a well-fitted suit and tie.
"You learned how to do it yourself, I see?" Y/N teased, observing his refined appearance. "I had to learn for the whole legal training thing," he chuckled, revealing the practical side of his attire.
They entered the car, and as they began to drive, the night sky welcomed them with a breathtaking display of stars. Y/N, feeling the festive spirit, suggested, "What should our entrance be?"
Zhanghao pondered for a moment before proposing, "Our famous arm hold?"
"Let's go with that," Y/N agreed, anticipating the subtle theatrical touch they would bring to the event.
Upon their arrival, the venue unfolded before them – another grand hotel setting the stage for the Legal Awards Gala.
Y/N elegantly wrapped her hands around Zhanghao's arm as the two made their entrance into the hotel. Escorted to the venue, they found themselves in a breathtakingly luxurious ballroom adorned with glittering chandeliers. The air was filled with an air of sophistication, and the attendees, donned in opulent attire, hinted at the grandeur of the Legal Awards Gala.
A distinguished man approached them and warmly shook Zhanghao's hand. "Y/N, meet my mentor Ryu Chanwoo," Zhanghao introduced. As Ryu Chanwoo extended his hand to Y/N, she greeted him with a warm smile. "Nice to meet you, I'm Ahn Y/N." Ryu Chanwoo chuckled, "I've heard your family name many times thanks to your father. I'm proud of you for bringing a very prestigious date, Zhanghao; this will definitely help with your professional image."
After Zhanghao expressed gratitude to his mentor, Ryu Chanwoo mingled with others. Y/N, amused by the revelation about her father's reputation, chuckled, "I didn't know people knew my Dad that much." Zhanghao replied, "Well, you're helping me a lot right now." The two shared a laugh before engaging in conversations with senior partners from renowned law firms. Topics ranged from industry trends to legal strategies and potential collaborations.
As the night progressed, they took their seats at a table, joining the company of others. Socializing continued over the elegant dinner, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie among legal professionals. In the latter part of the gala, Y/N and Zhanghao witnessed numerous individuals receiving awards for their outstanding achievements in the field of law. Although Y/N had limited knowledge of the legal intricacies, she graciously smiled and clapped throughout the evening.
Tumblr media
The night air was filled with a sense of accomplishment as Zhanghao drove Y/N home after the Legal Awards Gala. However, as Y/N prepared to exit the car, Zhanghao's sudden request halted her movements. "Wait," he said, his gaze piercing hers, prompting her to sit back down.
With a look of genuine confusion, Y/N awaited his words. "Why are we just faking all the time?" he asked, causing her to furrow her brows. As he continued, Zhanghao revealed, "Y/N, we've been friends throughout all of uni." A sense of realization flickered across her face. "Are you saying what I think you're trying to say?" she questioned, searching his eyes for confirmation. "Yes, I am, Y/N," he replied.
A silent pause lingered before he opened up about the feelings he had harbored. "I felt something on your father's birthday trip, or maybe even during uni," he confessed. "I know we've only been fake dating twice, and it's been nearly two weeks. But throughout our adventures, we said we only needed each other for different things. What if we just needed each other, in general?" he asked, a genuine look in his eyes.
Y/N's heart raced as she contemplated his words. "What if I want you to want me instead of being something you need?" she questioned. Zhanghao's response was clear, "I think it's very obvious from what I'm saying right now that I want you." With that, they leaned in for a kiss, a culmination of unspoken emotions. Zhanghao gently held her face, and Y/N placed her hands behind his head. Their hearts raced, and the kiss was now a testament to their newfound connection.
As they reluctantly let go, Zhanghao bid her goodnight, "Goodnight, Y/N," he said, a smile playing on his lips. "Goodnight, Zhanghao," she grinned, stepping into her house with the certainty that she was now more than just a fake girlfriend. New beginnings awaited them both.

INSANITY: The WHO Are Tyrants “In the World Health Organization's founding charter, they wrote an absolute amnesty for all criminal acts conducted by themselves, including murder by the way. By law, not a single one of them cannot only be tried and prosecuted, they can't even be investigated.
Now I wonder if there are examples in the history of the WHO of where that amnesty has been implemented or effective or where its boundaries might likely be tested.
Let's keep it really current. Remember that in 2018, during the Ebola clinical trials run by the World Health Organization in Africa, it was very clear that remdesivir, the drug that was promoted by doctor Deborah Birx and doctor Anthony Fauci as a drug for the treatment of COVID. The World Health Organization and its infinite wisdom and high morality decided that remdesivir was actually too lethal to inject into Africans. And that is because the fatality rate of people exposed to remdesivir in the Ebola trials was 53%. And the bad news about that number is that Ebola doesn't kill 53%.
You get over Ebola. You don't get over remdesivir.

Two depressing news articles today.
Minority ethnic heart failure patients ‘36% more likely to die’ in UK Study also finds people from ethnic minorities with atrial fibrillation more than twice as likely to die than white patients Tobi Thomas Health and inequalities correspondent Mon 3 Jun 2024 00.00 BST Share Minority ethnic patients with heart failure are more than a third more likely to die than their white counterparts, according to research. The study, by researchers at the University of Birmingham and supported by the British Heart Foundation, looked at data from more than 16,700 people from 12 existing clinical trials for heart failure patients. Eleven of these trials were testing the effects of beta blockers, with the remaining one examining the medication spironolactone. The researchers’ analysis found that for patients from a minority ethnic background there was a 36% higher risk of death after an average of 17 months, compared with their white counterparts. People from ethnic minorities who also had atrial fibrillation, a heart rhythm irregularity, were over twice as likely to die during the 17-month follow-up period. The study showed that beta blockers, which are commonly prescribed for heart failure, were able to reduce deaths in white patients by almost a third ethnic minority ethnic patients were inconclusive. The researchers also noted that 89% of the patients included in the study were white, which highlights the under-representation of minority ethnic patients in clinical studies. Previous research has shown that patients who are female, black, Asian or less well-off are significantly less likely to be offered heart valve surgery on the NHS in England.

Summary: One year into working with a young, bright and beautiful junior prosecutor, Y/n, who bears an almost uncanny resemblance to Andy's late wife, Laurie, he finds himself developing feelings for her. Though, when she brushes off his advances, Andy proves that he'll do whatever it takes to recreate his family. Chapter 1
One year into working with a young prosecutor that bears a striking resemblance- in more ways than just the physical- to his late wife, Andy decides to take destiny into his own hands Warnings: possessiveness
Andy had never fancied working with the junior prosecutors, those fresh faced law school graduates with only clinic hours under their belt; they always tried too hard not at all, and often, showing them the ropes felt like having a tail that was easy to trip over. Simply put, they annoyed him. That was why he was so happy when he'd been bumped up to Assistant District Attorney- it meant no more working with the newcomers.
But she, she was brilliant; she could think quickly and analytically, and could argue circles around the best defenders. When he'd first been asked to let her sit second chair for him, Andy had been adamant in his reluctance and had only given in because in the end it had become an order not a suggestion. It had worked out significantly better than he'd expected though; Y/n was young, only a year and a half out of law school, but she'd proven that her inexperience was hardly an issue. Since then Andy had made a habit of requesting that she sat second chair whenever he went to trial.
"I think we should get an expert witness," she declared suddenly, prompting Andy to tear his tired, burning eyes away from the painfully bright screen of his laptop.
"You don't think rebuttal will be enough?" He straightened up a little, though was still slumped against one side of the chair, and propped his elbow on the leather upholstered rest.
Y/n shook her head. Fiddling with the top of her pen, she casually explained, "I don't. Everything we have so far is circumstantial."
"We have the report from ballistics," Andy noted pointedly before backtracking, "But we can't place her and the gun in the same place at that time."
"Nope," Y/n's lips popped and after a minute, she groaned, leaning forward so she could plant her head on her folded arms, resting on the long glass table central to the board room where they'd camped out for the duration of the case.
With a look of amusement, Andy shook his head, a little bemused by her frustration. She was cute, he often thought- that was another reason he liked working with her. Though, cute might have been a glaring understatement. Y/n was gorgeous, and Andy liked to think that she was well aware of the fact. It was in the way she dressed, those tight skirts that left little to the imagination, and her low cut blouses that his eyes occasionally dipped into. Andy usually tried to keep his eyes to himself, but she didn't make it easy and he'd be lying if he said he didn't give into temptation and enjoyed the sight a little more than he should have.
He couldn't count how many long nights had been spent with her name bouncing off his bedroom walls while, with only the memory of her as his company.
"Maybe you should get home," Leaning forward so his chest would be pressed to the lip of the long table, Andy touched her forearm, gently rubbing his thumb along the side of her wrist. "We'll pick up tomorrow."
Y/n sighed as she lifted her head, not seeming to mind that he was pretty much holding her hand. "No," she licked her lips and retired against the back of the plush chair, reaching for her phone and consequently pulling her hand out of reach, prompting Andy to resign to his own chair as traces of disappointment ebbed at him. He liked touching her; she felt….good. Safe.
Familiar; as if he were meant to do it.
"I'd probably just stay up working on it anyway. Do you wanna get dinner?"
His heart leapt at her offer, but he easily maintained his debonair as he shrugged. "Sure," he checked his watch, rubbing his eyes upon noting that it was just past nine, "I think the only delivery we'll get right now is pizza."
"Then pizza it is!" She declared with a tired chuckle as she opened the app to place the order. They'd had dinner together enough times for them to come up with a pizza order that complimented their differing palettes and for her to not have to ask what he wanted before confirming the order.
Tumblr media
"You'll get the next one."
It was the way she smiled when she said it, that pretty glimmer in her eyes and the teasing edge in her tone. Usually, Andy would be able to convince himself that Y/n was just nice, but he was tired and could have sworn that she'd meant something more when she said that. There was clearly an expectation.
The next one. Maybe it was an invitation to ask her out.
Maybe she just meant the next time they worked together.
Maybe-
"Are you even allowed to have this?" Y/n teased when he set an open beer in front of her. There was a rule against unauthorized alcohol at the office, but it was also common knowledge that more senior employees sometimes kept a bottle of whiskey along with a couple glasses locked in their desks. Beer that was cold enough to drink though, that might have been more complicated, particularly because putting it in the communal fridge was asking for a call to the Human Resources.
"Allowed might be a strong word," he chuckled, taking a generous swing of his beer as he sank into his chair across from her, "But there's nothing that says I can't have a mini fridge in my office."
"Perks of being the boss," she joked, bringing the bottle to her lips though not yet taking a drink.
Andy huffed and corrected pointedly, "Almost the boss."
Y/n scoffed, finally tipping the bottle so a few initial sips of the golden hued liquid would trickle past her burgundy stained lips. At the taste of it, she hummed, "This is good," she regarded the bottle curiously, "I don't think I've ever seen it anywhere before."
"Its craft," he explained with nonchalance, "From this brewery upstate," then in a lower, more somber tone, as long past, fond memories washed over him, Andy added, "My wife and I used to make a day of it during the summer, but now I just have it delivered."
Y/n went quiet for a moment and bent her head and began apologetically, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have-”
“Its okay,” Andy cut her off, trying to reassure her with a faint grin, which she eventually returned, though beneath it, he could still see the twinge of remorse. Or, it could have been pity. In that way though, among a few others, Y/n reminded him of his wife. She was so empathetic and could connect so easily with anyone- something that he always struggled to do. Their smiles were similar too; small but bright enough to illuminate even the largest and darkest of rooms. They had the same dark, hypnotizing eyes.
There were a lot of similarities, actually. Too many to be purely coincidental
According to Y/n’s employee file, their birthdays were only a couple days apart too.
They ate in awkward silence for a handful of minutes, and then, presumably when she couldn’t stand it anymore, Y/n spoke up, “You’d be good at it,” he flashed her a confused stare, “The boss, I think you’d be a good boss; Andrew Barber, District Attorney- has a nice ring to it,” she leaned forward, still holding a slice of pizza in  one hand while resting the opposing elbow on the table. Her dainty heels had been discarded a while ago, and she’d tucked her legs under herself, giving off the impression that she was just a bit taller than she actually  was. “Do you ever think about it?” Y/n probed.
After everything, that probably wasn’t even in the cards for him anymore.
Andy shrugged, feigning an air of indifference, “I think about a lot of things.” As they both brought their bottles to their lips, his eyes met hers, and he couldn’t tell if she got the subliminal flirtation in his words.
Setting the bottle down, she licked her lips, “How mysterious,” she teased and again, he couldn’t quite read her eyes. Was she flirting? It seemed like she was.
He couldn't tell, so he didn’t try to. Instead, Andy waited until Y/n resumed her work, using one hand to browse a document on her laptop, to get back to work himself, once again flipping through the police report. They worked through the rest of dinner and then for about an hour after they’d cleared up in comfortable silence, with the exception of trading tidbits about the case before them.
When Andy checked his phone next, he found that it was quarter to one in the morning; he hadn’t even realized so much time had passed. Not that he was complaining- Y/n though, was immediately alarmed. Quickly, she started gathering her things; shoving a couple folders into her handbag, closing down her computer and finally reaching for her shoes. She said something about being worried about the bus and while she hadn’t expressed it, she must have been at least a little scared to walk all the way to the bus stop at that hour.
Three blocks with only dim street lamps and stray headlights acting as the only light. Newton was typically fairly safe, but there was no telling what could happen to young women who chose to walk the streets alone.
He'd never let Laurie walk alone that late at night. Or walk at all.
So Andy offered her a ride; without his active intervention, the odds had simply fallen into his favor. Y/n resisted at first, adamant about not wanting him to go out of his way, but Andy was insistent, citing that he’d rather go out of his way than risk something happening to her. Besides, he wasn’t going to miss an opportunity to see where she lived- he'd been resisting the urge to drive by the place himself, often thing that it might come across as....creepy.
And that was how he ended up parked across the street from a small, run down but clean, convenient store in the thick of Newton. Y/n had just informed him that she resided in the loft above it and the thought of that simultaneously upset and amused him; on one hand, he hated that her abode was so obviously unworthy of her, but on the other, the thought of being the one to whisk her away from such a sad little life was thrilling.
He could be her own, personal hero, which would fit with her obvious admiration of him.
“Thank you,” she smiled warmly, shifting slightly in the warm seat of his luxurious Audi to face him, “I really appreciate this. I would invite you up, but its so late.”
“Its no problem. And maybe next time,” Andy returned softly. Truthfully though, if she had actually invited him, he would have readily said yes; he thought he’d do anything she asked.
A handful of seconds worth of silence ensured and then, Y/n awkwardly reached out to hug him. Without hesitation- perhaps even too eagerly- Andy reciprocated. He just wanted to be close to her; have the fragrance of her jasmine perfume that was so similar to Laurie's and coconut shampoo tickle his senses, feel her chest against his, and have the weight of her in his arms. "Thanks again," she rasped.
With his palms flattened on her back, holding her in place, he resisted the urge to nuzzle her face, "It was my pleasure."
It might have been his words, or the fact that the moment was over, but Y/n pulled away a little and dropped her arms. Still, he maintained a loose hold on her shoulders. She was so, so, beautiful, he thought. Like a photo from a magazine or a star from television.
Or the homage of a goddess, sculpted by the Greeks.
Without thinking much of it, Andy lifted one hand to cup her cheek, but instead of leaning into his touch the way he anticipated she would, Y/n flashed him a curious gaze. Her own hand rose to circle her fingers around his wrist, though only to lead his touch away from her face, "Good night, Andy."
Embarrassed, Andy reclaimed his hands and replaced them on the wheel. Clearing his throat, he tried to manage a smile but only managed a tense splitting of his lips. "Good night, Y/n," he returned softly as she got out of the car.
He watched as she crossed the street quickly, not even offering as much as a backwards glance before disappearing through a doorway at the side of the little convenience store. Even after she’d disappeared into the darkness, Andy lingered at the curb, still nursing his earlier embarrassment; how had he misread the signs so badly? She’d bought him dinner, made all those flirtatious remarks while they worked and then had gone as far as initiating physical contact- only change her mind in the end.
Was it really just in his head? No, that couldn’t be right. He was sure of her advances
Glancing at the darkened industrial windows that faced the street, Andy sighed heavily. “Maybe she’s just shy,” he muttered below his breath, peeling away from the sidewalk and merging into scarce traffic. Maybe she was just waiting for him to take a little initiative.
That he could do.

please, how would the stomach ache + nausea/vomiting whump trope work in your OC's universe?
Whumping in EESU: Nausea, vomiting and stomach ache
(+ purposefully spoiled food for @witchy-shortcake!)
The classic: stomach ache and nausea as a side effect of medicine or chemicals forcibly given to a lab rat whumpee for clinical trials.
Whumpee with a horrible stomach ache surrounded by calm and unaffected ASR doctors, crying for help and begging for pain relief they know they won't get.
Caretaker doctor having to explain to the lab rat whumpee they really can't give them any meds or treatment since it'd very visibly mess with the study results and they'll be suspected of messing it up.
Whumpee having to throw up in a room full of doctors/researchers, not allowed to let it out alone in the cell or bathroom.
That uncomfortable nauseous feeling when a whumpee has a tube inserted down their mouth or nose.
Lab rat whumpee being fed meals containing tested meds or chemicals.
Class 3 whumpee being fed meals containing tested meds or chemicals then having to go back to work afterwards, gradually starting to feel weak and nauseous and not knowing why.
Bonus points if after a while the labor camp guards find them on the ground, curled up with hands around their stomach.
Whumpee coming to the camp hospital with a stomach ache and getting told they're still fit to work and they have to be back.
Whumpee becoming nauseous from even a sight of food - whether because of an illness or from numerous experiences of getting sick after eating.
Detained whumpee being fed spoiled food as a method of pressure (bonus points if the interrogators taunt them with fresh nutritious meals and/or promise to share them in exchange for needed information).
Interrogated whumpee in an already nauseous state tortured with flashing lights. (Bonus points if the interrogators are aware of their ill-feeling and they're making it worse deliberately).
"Personal property" whumpee given spoiled food as a punishment.
Whumpee having a terrible hangover the morning after their owner forced them to drink.
Whumpee is in hiding; when they fall ill with a stomach virus or food poisoning they have to avoid hospitals at all cost and only rely on their caretaker companions.
Whumpee feeling nauseous during or after torture, usually from beatings to the head or stomach.
Sick whumpee brought to the medical office with the sterile hospital smells so strong it makes their nausea even worse.
Whumpee is thrown to their cell after an interrogation; too hurt and dizzy to stand up, they vomit and pass out.
Whumpee becoming nauseous from anxiety or fear when entering their boss's office. Or a room where State Security officers wait for them to make a warning. Or an interrogation room. Or the ASR lab.
"Deep reeducation" technique tests where the researchers purposefully induce pain and nausea in their whumpee when showing them the enemy countries' ideology and propaganda.
Motion sickness. Especially when transported to detention, labor camp or a class 4 designation facility in a tiny dark cell of the van or train.
Caretaker going out for medicine to relieve their whumpee's nausea or stomach pain. What could go wrong? There may be martial law time and they don't have a permission for going out past curfew. There may be a riot or protest action on the streets and they're risking being taken as one of the suspected offenders. They may be a class 2-3 offender living in a labor commune where getting proper medication can be quite a trouble.
