Code 8 Part 2 Review

One of the best things about experiencing stories are those with original concepts. Code 8 is one of those stories. It does feature super powered humans but they craft an original story and world that surrounds that.

When Code 8 Part One dropped I really enjoyed it. It was a dark and gritty take on the super powers story. It was refreshing to see such a movie being made among big budget IPs left and right. Truth be told, we need more movies like Code 8.

Another thing that is rare these days is a sequel being just as good as the original. What works for Code 8 Part 2 is the exploration of the themes. In a world of Super Powers and drugs to enhance that we get a glimpse into Police Corruption and various other real world inspired themes. That allows for the world to be expanded upon and for the characters to be utilized well. Stephen Amell is probably the most fun to watch here because his true motives are unpredictable and that adds a layer of tension.

The core story of the film also had more at stake than the original did. It is why it works so well. It builds upon the foundations of the first film and definitely leaves the door open for more. Superhero cinema is definitely a huge genre right now and stories like Code 8 allow that to be more than just Marvel vs DC. Films like Code 8 show us a good story can always avoid genre fatigue. It also makes the bad movies stand out more. How can a smaller scale movie have better effects and themes? Writing. Code 8 is grittier, real and more grounded than 80 percent of the genre.

It is so much more grounded, reviews for the first film point out the lack of humor and light moments as if that is a blue print to being successful. Code 8 proves that what you need is a good story and dedicated actors to bring that story to life. Let's hope Code 8 Part 3 happens or a series set in the same universe about different characters. Either one would be welcomed.

Code Geass Lost Stories Chapter 3 Summary

For chapter 1 and 2 here and here, then this post keep updated every new part release.

Chapter 3 started several month after R2 and Suzaku take Zero role

(PART 1) Ougi Villeta wedding scene and Disel small mentions as they disappeared right after area 11 last battle and no one know their whereabouts

Some small rebellion (as always), the reason Zero use black Lancelot here because we all know how much Llyord love his Lancelot used by Suzaku (lol) while Lancelot can't be seen used by Zero so they paint it black

Additionally, no Black Knight member know Suzaku taken Zero role as now but Kaguya give this new Zero a cold shoulder as if she know it's not him. Even Kallen, which still not know, still in confuse (lol)

Additional side characters mentioned. Savitri and Benio meet up again even after getting geassed, Benio join as part timer at Tamaki's Zero cafe, and Schee retire from military and finally move on.

Pre Lelouch Ressurection movie scene, CC meet up with Jeremiah Anya before searching on geass cult

(PART 2) Chapter started with Ortlinde telling her story of searching FLEIJA bomb around the world to Black Knight. After Lelouch dead, there are nine FLEIJA bomb missing and it should be at Marybell's hand which Ortlinde telling her story about battle at Spain two month ago

Flashback chapter, as emperor Lelouch reigned after won the war, Miss X informed Cornelia that Lelouch was going to had parade in next two months for rebel's public execution (yup Lelouch dying stage). Cornelia thinks that as a chance for asssssination but there's Marybell, who hold FLEIJA could become a thorn if they leave her alone

Cornelia with remaining member of Black Knight and Chinese Federation gather the forces then finds Oz siblings

Cornelia tell them the plan but Oz siblings decided to do it themself with Nonette and Glinda Knights. Later, Chinese Federation and Sapphire Claudio joins the fray too

It's kinda funny Orpheus having many harem here, every woman loves him. Miss X, his Indian enginner then Marybell. It even had indication that Oz Marybell already doing much more than a love interest... (I never read Oz Reflection so yeah I don't know anything lol)

Battle parts, it stated that Marybell joins Lelouch forces is to direct everyone anger to her and need Ortlinde to play as savior role (so yeah like Lelouch reasoning). Orpheus know that a bit late then doing Ortlinde role by using geass to deceive everyone

Flashback ended, Ortlinde telling Black Knight that she founds four bomb but the other five still unknown and never tell them the real situations with Orpheus and Marybell (I think some bomb gone into Roze adaption lol)

Disel cameo ! They brought into Zikhstan kingdom as Shalio pick them on road. Still unknown why Disel came there.

(PART 3) Into Zikhstan scene, Disel helping Zikhstan's improving their knightmare while involve in small problem around two NPC (Yupito and Nadia). Small rebellion to assassinate Shalio by Yupito repelled by Shanma's prediction.

CC Lelouch searching for geass trace scene. After checking one place and get nothing, she decided to go into Aramu temple (Zikhstan prison). Scene below happened after Lelouch chased on butterfly and slip out there (it explained in movie that Lelouch before his conscious back is kinda like blank out person)

Those three visit Shirley's grave. Telling Milly getting a new movie offer, Kallen into university, Rival nothing unusual (lol). Then telling they gonna came again with Nina Nunally soon

Nunnally Zero getting capture by Shalio. Telling more details on Zikhstan preparations for capture plan and Federation moves for gathering information at Zikhstan by sending Sayoko Kallen and Schee as their backup. The reason for sending those three is they're just a citizen now so it doesn't violate any regulations. Scene below is about those three (exclude Schee) gonna drop into Zikhstan as they can't go with normal route.

After heard Zikhstan doing with Nunnally Zero, Disel try to reasoning with Shalio but getting captured for rebel treason

(PART 4) Mostly same like movie, started from CC Lelouch meets Kallen team until Lelouch comeback scene.

(PART 5) Started from Lelouch prison break time, MC saved by Lelouch team there, until right before Lelouch team meets Cornelia team. More small details explained like Schnee finally talk to Suzaku and MC.

And MC meets Claris at C world, it tells MC wandering around Zilkstan since they don't know what to do after getting their revenge on Kali and Claris is dead. In the end, Lelouch CC brought them into C world, meets Anone (Claris), and finally made their peace.

(PART 6) Started from Nunnally recapture battle start until TamakiOugi steal enemy knightmare to call Lelouch. Mostly same as movie aside more information like Schnee helped Milly going out from Zilkstan on Kallen behalf and Disel joined the battle and fight Nadia.

(PART 7) Movie done, then again mostly same like movie, in addition telling Disel next story (ending credit roll using double Disel VA singing revive, pretty good I must say).

Disel cameback to Japan, planned on surrendering themself for crime of team up with Emperor Lelouch but ended up being not guilty after Sapphire helped them. Later on, Kaguya asked them to become her agent along with Sapphire and Hakuba (yup this means next story will be Pure Almaria)

PS : I kinda like the flow here, pretty slow but still good. Looking at last part, seems there are big possibility even Roze will include in main story later. And I don't even know Pure Almaria stories so yeah gonna read it without knowing anything later (lol)
