I work for a “health system" that had a multi-hour, system-wide network outage yesterday evening. Computers are used EVERYWHERE — patient charts, monitoring equipment — thus having the network go down is like having no running water, and no one realizes that.

Employers don’t want to pay for the people to keep the system running seamlessly. Vendors can’t build solid, easy-to-understand, fast-to-use software (have you watched your doctor’s office do data entry?).

Mira from Luminaera

In the heart of Luminaera, where the city's pulse beats in sync with the neon glow of ever-changing billboards and the gentle hum of airborne cars, there lived a girl named Mira. On the surface, Mira might have seemed like your average city-dweller, but her story is woven with strands of enigma and a touch of the extraordinary.

It was a balmy evening when our tale unfolds, the sun dipping low behind the steel spires of Luminaera, setting the horizon ablaze with a palette only seen when day meets night in a lover's embrace. one thing i love about tumblr is the queue. i have it so five reblogs a day will go up cone rain or shine.

but the queue has a max size of 1_000, so that could mean 200 days between me seeing a post and reblogging it. 200 days. even at ~30 days ive forgotten most of the posts and theyre fresh to me when i see them on my dash.

200 days. thats a pretty long time.

posts ive made have been dead for months and then suddenly someones queue came around and theres a new spark

whenever i see current political posts i fast reblog and queue. sure pretty much no one sees my posts but i see them! i get to be reminded of important events the collective consciousness stops talking about them!

if im ever too ill for screens my blog remains the same.

its my memories that i chose to share with my future self. its something there even when im not. its a reminder its nothing its jokes its memes

i think i have discovered why im bad at coding:

1) absolutely no interest in it outside of its utility to get me money, means I don't think about this shit once i clock out and so things tend to go in one ear and out the other

2) i panic if i think I'm doing bad at work, which isn't conducive to like, bugfixing - this is the new part i knew 1) already

the solution to this in university was to do all my assignments live with friends, but unfortunately team coding isn't a thing after studying; god willing I'll be fired and be able to be a train conductor, no longer needing to punish myself with programming
