I've gotten HITMAN: World of Assassination to work on macOS a total of two times, and both times I don't know what I did.
The current CrossOver bottle I have that successfully runs v.3.210.2 is essentially a glass house that I tip-toe around every time I use it because one breath in the wrong direction, and I feel like the entire thing will come crashing down.
I've tried installing the game in new bottles. Doesn't work. I've tired installing new versions of the game. Doesn't work.
The original version I ran in this bottle was v.3.180.x because that's the version provided in the DODI Repack. That version worked for some reason... but only in this specific bottle. Every other time I've tried installing it in a new bottle, the game was unplayable.
I tried upgrading from v.3.180.x to v.3.210.1, and that didn't work. The game was unplayable.
By then, the entire game was broken, so I almost gave up hope on getting HITMAN: WOA to work on macOS ever again. Then, for some reason, I upgraded it to v.3.210.2, and the it was still unplayable. I started tinkering, which caused me to open and close the game over and over again. It was unplayably laggy (just like every other time and situation) until one time it just wasn't; It started working.
So now HITMAN: World of Assassination v.3.210.2 runs perfectly on my M1 iMac, and I'm never touching this bottle again in my life. It will stay that way–perfectly immortalized for me to play until a CrossOver update, itself, manages to break it.

Sunk Cost Fallodyssey
I spent $2.72 buying Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game and was dismayed to discover that Codeweavers Crossover would only install, but not run the executable.
Unwilling to give up, I spent a few hours attempting different Crossover bottle tweaks before stumbling onto the existence of the Fallout: Community Edition project, a modern reimplementation of the game's engine with compatibility for modern computers.
At last, the game launched successfully, and I learned from the opening cinematic that war is transformative but static, and was allowed to access the character creation screen:
Since I don't know anything about Fallout, I decided to create a character based on Kaladin Stormblessed from the Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive novels. In Sanderson's story, Kaladin is an unlucky son of a small-town physician somehow trapped in a cycle of being beaten within an inch of death while everyone else around him is killed, losing whatever job he had at the time, and ending up with a new job that is somehow more dangerous.
I started by lowering my character's luck stat to the game's floor of 1 (Very Bad), then re-investing the spare points into maxing out his endurance at 10 (Heroic) and bumping up his agility, charisma, and intelligence a bit each. I took a point out of perception because Sanderson's Kaladin usually needs obvious things explained to him.
For his three Tag Skills, I selected Melee Weapons, First Aid, and Doctor since Sanderson's Kaladin had training both as a spearman and as a physician.
For the first of his two optional traits, I selected Good Natured, which dropped his combat skills but boosted his First Aid, Doctor, Speech, and Barter abilities. My other choice here was Jinxed, which causes both the character and everyone around them to roll critical failures more often.
I started the game and died a dozen times to random encounters in the wastes. I was still having fun, but admit that I was growing a bit discouraged when I finally found my first actual spear on a random corpse giant molerats were dining on family-style.
Since grabbing the spear and fleeing those molerats, things have been looking up! I hit level two and have reached Vault 15 with far fewer deaths. The vault itself seems to be in poor repair, but without a rope to drop down the elevator shaft, I may need to continue my adventure elsewhere...

So, I played the Riffins for the first time since I dunno. The first serious time on the new computer, definitely.
I have a bunch posts worth of screenshot backlog for all of my saves, I think, so in theory I could start posting again now. It's really just a matter of doing it.
What follows is some geeking that may interest nobody, but this is just how I roll.
The first silly thing is that I now have screenshots in 16:10 aspect ratio. On my old computer, I ran Windows at a low resolution partly for performance and partly because I could keep the 4:3 aspect ratio, i.e. a much narrower display for the same height. My reasoning is that when you post pics, either on Wordpress or here, the width of the image determines the size you see. A wider aspect ratio gets sized down to the width of the dashboard you're looking at, and everything is smaller. In my current setup. I pretty much have to run at a higher screen resolution, and it looks awfully nice honestly. Sims 3 doesn't have any 4:3 aspect ratio options for modern computer resolutions. I may see if I can hack it in the options file. If I can't, it'll be reeeealy obvious when I move on to the new gameplay 🤷♀️.
For technical nerds, if in fact there are any reading this, I'm experimenting with playing the game on Codeweavers Crossover, a distribution of wine, which in turn is an implementation of Windows API for Mac users. I have traditionally played the game on a Windows virtual machine in Parallels. Running an entire second operating system in order to play one game is a bit much, but you do what you can do. I have messed around in Mac 64-bit, and it does really super smoothly for a new game, but it doesn't support core mods (no ErrorTrap or UntranslatedKey), and existing saves (at least modded ones) have not for me without crashing.
I tried Sims with Crossover on my old Intel Mac (man that thing was so top-of-the-line six years ago), and it ran delightfully fast and crashed within 10 minutes. Crossover has done a lot of updates to its 32-bit support since then, but only for the newer Mac architecture. Now that I have one of these fancy Apple Silicon doohickies, I tried again. The play was not as dizzyingly fast as it was on Intel, with the advantage that it played smoothly with all mods for an entire session of about 1.5 hours. Sooooo.... maybe this will work? I don't want to jinx it. I do have Parallels+Windows to run some other stuff if this doesn't cut it.
I'm not even going to try Reshade. It's too exciting that this no-Windows approach might actually work at all. Plus with the higher resolution and the lack of Windows, the game just looks better to me anyway.
I haven't tried to play the Samples yet with all their weird skintones and custom everything. The decades history challenge might even be worse in that regard. The Riffins at least run in an EA world. We. Shall. See.

That is where CrossOver and CodeWeavers come in. Without CodeWeavers there would be no Wine on Mac. There would be no GPTK. Hell, even Rosetta would likely be more restricted as many of the extensions added in recent months were only added due to pressure from Mac gamers. The revenue from CrossOver is what keeps Wine on Mac alive. By contrast, Whisky is based on CrossOver, but we don't produce any bespoke fixes. I, quite frankly, do not have the requisite skills or time to do so. As a result, the amount that Whisky as a whole contributes to Wine is practically zero. This is not a fair trade, and continuing this parasitic relationship could easily harm CrossOver's continued profitability and the existence of Wine on Mac as a whole. TLDR; Whisky harms Wine on Mac.

CrossOver+ sees a price increase after 13 years

CrossOver+ increases the price with a discount with this Linux software for Windows PC apps. Due to the ongoing work and commitment of developer CodeWeavers. Which you can get with a savings on the official website. So, after months of living in denial about having to pass on the effects of inflation to loyal users. It would certainly seems that CodeWeavers can no longer ignore the fact. As a result has, indeed, increased company's overhead costs. Since their product pricing has stayed stagnate for over 13 years. They are now inform the Linux community of a necessary upcoming price increase. With the exception of CrossOver LifeTime. This also means that CodeWeavers will be increasing the price of CrossOver+ and renewals. This is now effective upon the release of CrossOver 22. Which is coming very soon. But before that happens, CodeWeavers wants to reach out to all the trial, expired and current users. Now offering 35% off CrossOver+ and renewals with deal code ECON35 until August 17th, 2022.
CrossOver+ increases
What that means is if you tried and didn’t buy, then save 35% on a one-year subscription of CrossOver+. So that you will automatically get the update to CrossOver 22 upon its release. If your subscription has lapsed (and you did not renew in the two-week time period), you can save 35%. Plus you will automatically get the update to CrossOver 22 upon its release. If your license is current, you can buy a one-year renewal at 35% off. This will be added to your current subscription. AND obviously, you too will automatically get the update to CrossOver 22 upon its release. Likely this price change is due to Proton support for games. As well as Lutris, but this is a changing landscape. Unless you rely on CodeWeavers to give you an alternative install of Steam functionality. OR many of it's supported Windows PC apps. According to CodeWeavers, this decision did not come lightly, and we wish, instead, that it was a simple case of corporate greed. CodeWeavers does thank all users and will be serving up an amazing experience with CrossOver 22. With the 35% discount, the price will $37.88 USD / £31.20 / 36.91 on the official website. Along with continuing support for Linux for Windows PC applications.

I'm experimenting with installing Sims 3 on CodeWeavers Crossover again. They've had some major updates since I tried the last time. So far, with all the expansions and my stuff packs installed, it's playing pretty well.
I'm stuck on the store, though. I can't install store Sims3Packs anymore. This is true even on my current Windows installation. Did they do anything to Sims3Packs to prevent them from being installed on 1.67 games? I downloaded all the Sims3Packs from the store and archived them in 2022, but I guess that was too late for whatever they did.
I get the error that says "Installation Failed: Be sure you're running the most recent version" or something like that.
I heard you could copy over the contents of your DCCache folder to get your store content, but when I tried, the game didn't recognize it.
I don't really want to install Games for the World's cracked store content because I'm pretty sure it's decrapified. That causes all sorts of trouble with functional items. It's better to just remove the encryption with s3rc when you convert to package. Decrapifying also renumbers stuff, which confuses the game when it tries to reference the object. I think Pescado's stupid name for that procedure left the entire fanbase thinking it was something magical.
ANYWAY. Google has not found a solution for getting the old Launcher to install store Sims3Packs, at least any downloaded 2022 or later. If anyone knows anything, let me know!
I can convert all my store Sims3Packs to package myself. It'll just take a long time.....
