All I ask is ask an ask in return. 😘
What is the silliest place reader has ever found König asleep?
König hasn’t stayed asleep for 8 hours a night in forever, so those minute long naps truly mean the world to him.
Being a soldier, you quickly learn to crash on location. If the military has taught you anything, it’s how to view everything like a bed. König has slept on the floor in storerooms if it meant having a moment’s peace at KorTac.
He’s lost a couple people he didn’t want to talk to doing this.
Colonel König is a man who firmly believes in the saying: “mind over matter” and regularly pushes his limits. He isn’t so careless as to shrug off an alarming signal his body’s giving him, however if there’s nothing actively tugging his concern, he’ll wear himself to the bone.
Bone tired König is a different breed.
Overtime he slowly did lose the ability to fall asleep on a dime, but not completely. It takes a lot to nod off mid conversation. But it does happen and he‘ll even do it standing up.
When no response came on his end, you paused your speech and frowned deeply. What relaxed your features some was the lack of a piercing blue staring back at you, the smeared eyeblack made it seem like both holes in his makeshift hood were completely empty. The dim, flickering lights in the hallway did nothing to soothe your jittery nerves.
You felt a weird cocktail of both pride and horror swirling in your stomach being on this one’s team.
The first time you caught him snoozing on top of an M1 Abrams you had to double check. Sleeping inside of a tank is one thing, trying to snooze with your unit packed in there like sardines is another, he’d rather kick rocks.
He’s slept on top of vehicle hoods, under said vehicles just to get away from people, used a rock as a pillow while he slept on top of another larger rock; surprisingly that fixed his back but left a nasty crick in his neck.
When König’s not sleeping in odd places, he is taking a nap with his eyes open. Imagine the terror felt when he finally woke up to you and four of your coworkers surrounding him betting whether or not he was dead.
He was very much alive, cussed the shit out of you all for not doing your work and standing there like a bunch of idiots.
Speaking of idiots.
Both Aksel and Horangi have photos on their phone of the two of you huddled together on the floor catching a few winks in a ready room before a pre-flight briefing. Neither had the heart to wake you until the last minute.
But his favourite place to fall asleep is right in your arms, König’s not afraid to let others know that you are an item, at least not in subtle ways, like napping in the common room on the couch.

At least this confirms the radio station has been around since 1983.
I'm still curious about the military's role in S5. They've already established Colonel Jack Sullivan and his troops as antagonists, but the question is are they going to remain that way (even as they're containing the threat of the Upside Down) or will they actually have a Heel-Face Turn? Spoilers have indicated that Mike, Will, Lucas, and Joyce will be with the military, but that could mean anything. They may be working with the military willingly, or they could be their prisoners (similar to what happens with the kid characters in J.J. Abrams Super 8 who were briefly taken into custody by the military before the monster attacked them).
Also, will the military be battling the Mind Flayer's army at the Radio Station in Hawkins? Or in the Upside Down? Or at both locations?

I Miss You, I'm Sorry
***Thank you to @hawkeyes-darling for Beta reading! And thank you to @starwritingbri for sending me the song and the idea! This fic is for you!***
Riza sits forward and rubs her temples with a sigh.
Being an adjutant and bodyguard to Brigadier General Hakuro is an utterly exhausting and thankless task. He’s sloppy with his work and brusque with his subordinates. She also doesn’t like the way the odious man’s eyes wander over her body as she moves around the office.
Hughes peers closely at her.
“You doing okay?”
Part of her wants to tell him the truth. She barely sleeps. She eats even less. She spends long hours at the range and longer hours at work, trying to gather any scrap of intel that might be useful and frequently failing at that. She wants to be able to do more, to contribute further to their effort to overthrow the current regime.
Most days, she feels like she’s tied to the end of a piece of string, being bounced around roughly at the will of forces outside her control.
“I’m just tired,” she says instead.
He clearly doesn’t believe her, but he doesn’t comment further as he checks his watch and grimaces.
“It’s almost 2000.”
“Right,” Hawkeye mutters, rising.
Hughes clasps his hands together on the table and regards her over the rim of his glasses.
“You could stay.”
She presses her lips into a thin line.
“You know I can’t.”
If she stays any later, she risks running into Roy. Lieutenant Colonel Mustang, that is.
She gathers her bag and tries to give Hughes a confident smile, but she’s certain it falls flat when he continues to frown at her, so she turns towards the door.
It opens before her to reveal the person she equally longs and dreads to see.
It’s the first time they’ve come face to face since their argument at Central HQ not long after they stopped seeing each other. They’ve passed each other in the halls a time or two, been included in the same meetings once or twice, but this is the closest she’s stood to him.
She can smell his aftershave and a trace of whiskey on his breath and can see the hint of a five-o’clock shadow at his chin.
He blinks, and she steps back.
“Roy!” Hughes stands with every appearance of delight at his arrival. “Hey, how’s it going? Did you see Gracia upstairs? She made a quiche for a late dinner! Why don’t we all go up and—”
“What are you doing here?”
His tone stings like a snake’s bite, and Riza lowers her eyes.
“I’m leaving,” she says curtly. “Excuse me.”

The claim: The Texas National Guard has deployed tanks to the border with Mexico
A Jan. 27 Instagram video (direct link, archive link) shows a train carrying dozens of military vehicles through a town.
“The Texas National Guard begins transporting armored vehicles to the border with Mexico, the post caption reads in part.
Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.
A similar post spread on X, formerly Twitter, and a Spanish version of the claim was also shared on Facebook.

Our rating: False
The Texas National Guard said it is not sending tanks to the U.S. southern border. The transportation of military equipment around Fort Cavazos in Texas, where the video was taken, is routine, according to one military expert.
The video was taken in Texas, but it’s not going to the border with Mexico
The video was taken at the intersection of College St. and 761st Tank Battalion Ave. in Killeen, Texas, close to the U.S. Army's Fort Cavazos. Street signs indicating the location are visible in the video.
But there is no evidence the train is carrying tanks from the Texas National Guard to the U.S. southern border. There are no credible news reports about such a development.
“The Texas National Guard is not sending tanks to the border,” a spokesperson for the Texas Military Department in said an email to USA TODAY.
The state of Texas is currently feuding with the federal government over how to control the southern border as it faces a surge of migrants. The state set up razor wire along the Rio Grande to deter migrants from crossing the border, a move the federal government sees as a step too far. The Supreme Court ruled on Jan. 22 that the federal government can cut and remove the razor wire, but the state continues to set up the wire in certain areas.
The transportation of army equipment around Fort Cavazo is a daily occurrence, according to Eric Rojo, a retired U.S. Army colonel.
“The movement of armored equipment is constant,” Rojo said. “Fort Cavazos is one of the largest armored infantry bases in the U.S. It's the home to the First Cavalry Division, which includes mechanized infantry, using Bradley Fighting Personnel Carriers, armor units such as M-1 Abram tanks, and other combined arms units. Some of these vehicles are what we see in the video.”
Rojo also said the vehicles on the train are not tanks but Bradley Fighting Vehicles, which blend elements of a tank, an armored personnel carrier and other armored vehicles.
"Many people confuse them," Rojo said.
Fact check: False claim Putin, Russia pledged arms to Texas in dispute with US government
USA TODAY reached out to the user who shared the post for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
A similar claim about tanks at the Mexico-U.S. border was debunked by Factchequeado.

you shall become a master of hoof and lance in a world of sloped armour plating and millimeters measured in dozens
you shall be chortled at by the other fat men with graying whiskers, failing to adapt arabians' strategies to abrams
you will be a failure where you were a champion, and i will laugh at you
i lay this curse at your feet, filled with words you cannot understand yet, and know that you will fall to it even despite this warning
and in years to come you will feel a twinge in the heart at every new development: is this the word the prophetess spoke, masked in a more primitive form?
goodbye, colonel. May your scars ache for all your days and your dreams haunt all your nights.

This Veterans Day, we remember a few of the Princetonians who have served in the U.S. military: 1. Col. Abram Zabriskie, Class of 1859, was wounded in action while serving in the Union Army during the Civil War and died in May 1864 at the age of 23.

2. Col. William Libbey, Class of 1877, joined the New Jersey National Guard in 1900. He taught marksmanship as captain of the Princeton Company. After the outbreak of World War I, he was promoted to major in the regular army and continued to teach soldiers how to use their rifles. Ultimately, by war's end, he held the rank of Colonel, and held the curious distinction of becoming a war veteran at 63.

3. Lt. John Winant, Class of 1945, left during his sophomore year to fight in World War II as a pilot. After his plane went down, he was feared dead before word reached the United States that he was being held prisoner. Winant remained in captivity in Southern Bavaria from October 10, 1943 to May 7, 1945.

4. Lt. Lisa Bryant, Class of 1993, was killed on July 10, 1993 by an enlisted soldier at Fort Bragg. She was 21.

U.S. Army
The U.S. Army is made up of its active regular Army and two reserve components—the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve. Since the end of the Vietnam War, the U.S. Army has been all-volunteer— meaning no one is drafted—and as always, everyone receives a salary.
Military Leaders in Vietnam
The three commanders of the U.S. forces during the Vietnam War were: General William Westmoreland, from 1964 to 1968. General Creighton Abrams, from 1968 to 1972. General Frederick Weyand, from 1972 to 1973.
Field Army
A field army is the U.S. Army’s largest unit structure (50,000 and more soldiers). The last use of a field army was in 1991 during Operation Desert Storm, which took place in Iraq, Kuwait, and outlying areas of Saudi Arabia. A four-star general commands a field army. The five-star rank of general has only been issued in times of war and the last to hold it was General Omar Bradley, who died in 1981. The other five-star generals in the history of the U.S. Army were G
Corps
The corps is treated as an operational unit of employment by the U.S. Army and can be comprised of 20,000-45,000 soldiers. Corps are commanded by the rank of Lieutenant General (LTG), a three-star general.
Corps in Vietnam
The U.S. Army, Vietnam (USARV) controlled all U.S. Army service and logistical units in South Vietnam until May 1972, when it merged with the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV) to become USARV/MACV Support Command.
The U.S. Army called its corps-level headquarters I Field Force and II Field Force to avoid confusion with the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) corps areas. I Field Force, Vietnam was responsible for the 12 provinces of the Central Highlands and II Field Force, Vietnam was responsible for the 11 provinces surrounding Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City). Both field forces were deactivated in 1971.
Division
The number of modular units in an Army division is flexible and the total number of soldiers is 10,000-15,000. A two-star major general commands a division.
Divisions in Vietnam
Here are just some examples of divisions that served in the Vietnam War.
The 82nd Airborne Division, an elite infantry division specializing in parachute assault operations, entered Vietnam in 1966. The 101st Airborne Division (“Screaming Eagles”) fought in major battles including the Battle of Hamburger Hill in May 1969. Both airborne divisions were called to duty within the U.S. itself in 1967, to help quell the Detroit riot.
From 1966 to 1970, the 4th Infantry Division’s battles in Vietnam included the tough Battle of Dak To (1967-68).
MORE HISTORY: See our Summer of ’69 documentaries or a Summer of 1969 timeline.
Brigade or Regiment
Brigades are made up of 2,000-5,000 soldiers, normally split among three to five battalions. The armoured cavalry and ranger forces of this size are called regiments or groups, not brigades. Commanders of brigades or regiments are one-star brigadier generals or colonels.
Brigade in Vietnam
enerals Marshall, MacArthur, Eisenhower, and Arnold.

Mike Stock stated that the Colonel Abrams hit "Trapped" (1985) was a big influence on "Never Gonna Give You Up", saying: "For Rick Astley's song I didn't want it to sound like Kylie or Bananarama so I looked at the Colonel Abrams track 'Trapped' and recreated that syncopated bassline in a way that suited our song."
