I don't think I'll ever be able to stop thinking about how fucking misguided Gideon and Harrow are when it comes to their feelings for each other.

Gideon's convinced that the love of her life is only capable of feeling the way she wants her to feel about herself, for the Body. Harrow loves Gideon in a way she could never love the body. She covets the body, she childishly adores Alecto.

But she isn't willing to destroy herself for Alecto, she isn't willing to shatter her mind to ensure Alecto's survival. She lobotomizes herself to save Gideon, and I don't believe that she would do the same for Alecto.

Harrow meanwhile, is a complete disaster zone at expressing and communicating her feelings. Her note to Gideon, her letter, the one that would be given to Gideon with the assumption that Harrow was going to get Gideon into a body at some point could have explained it all plainly.

How she feels about Gideon, how she loves Gideon more than anything. How she's going to do everything she can to get back to her. How she needs her so badly.

Instead she hides that all behind the cryptic message, their message for sure, but Gideon misses it. "One flesh, one end."

can't stop thinking about how tamsyn muir regularly includes foreshadowing in the most bizarre and mundane places (like harrow threatening to make bone meal explode out of gideon, and then she does do that to a Different Gideon).

anyway on a totally unrelated note, remember how they're fighting in GTN and harrow says "when I release you from my service, Nav, you will know about it"? and remember what harrow knows now about the meaning of lyctorhood and cavalierhood, and the fact that she likely no longer wants gideon to just be her cavalier? and remember that there's almost no way they won't have at least one blowup fight in Alecto the Ninth?

Okay but let's talk about Dan and Ghost King Danny. Yeah, sure the angst is well and good but what about the sheer hijinks that could ensue?

Thus, I propose the following: Community Service AU. It's exactly as it says on the tin. King Danny who puts Dan through community service in the zone, doing stuff to help his reign, and improve the realm as a whole. Soup time is well and good, and well, Walker is a possibility but c'mon. It's Walker. Community Service sounds much more reasonable. Danny is the Ghost King, it's not like Dan can get into too much trouble.

He gets banished to the dreaded paperwork realm to help sort through the backlog because does anyone think Pariah Dark was any good at clerical work before he went off the rails? Nah, I don't think so! There's certain tedious things that Danny just Doesn't Have The Time for but look! Here's Dan, who's just enough of Danny to be able to do some tedious kingly duties but also not being Danny enough to actually contest for the throne. Dan gets to help nurture and while it's forced at first, he gets to see a positive impact that he has on those around him (Eventually, with good enough behavior he gets to finally see his sister again.)

Smash cut to a JLA meeting where Constantine is there for Reasons and then the whole of the JL members present gets the shock of their lives when a terrifying mass of vicious teeth, a body that doesn't move right, too many eyes, and freezing cold rips a hole in reality.

Dan was helping Ghost Writer find some books that were never returned years before. Honestly, Danny would've just written them off as Lost but Dan had been really good lately and Danny thought he earned a little harmless fun. Besides, those occultists really should've known better than try to steal from the Dead.

Last Blast of Summer!

Seabreeze, Luau and Soda have one last beach day in before the summer comes to a close!

I'd mentioned that Luau and Seabreeze would be friends with Soda before I think, given how they all share a love for water/the beach, so I wanted to finally make something with that idea! I thought of that thing you sometimes see surfers do where they run towards the water with their surfboard held above their head like this. Of course, it started off as just a Seabreeze idea but then it evolved to include Luau and I swapped out the surfboard for Soda :3

It was great to draw Soda again! I hadn't drawn him since before Art Fight and he's been in my brain a lot again lately bc I love him so much <33 This also helped me to flesh out sort of, how big I want him to be I guess lmao. I've drawn him smaller than both Luau and Seabreeze in my Seafoam vs Stardust pre-Art Fight piece, but I'll probably just make it official that he can like, scale up and down in terms of size depending on what he wants to do and who wants to float on/with him hehe. Which to be fair is an idea I've been toying with (aheehee) for awhile now, so maybe this is just the first depiction of that :3
