Danny and Damien are twins au, but a slightly redeemed vlad makes Danny the CEO of Vlad Co and DALV and all his other shell companies. Danny is danny, he got pushed into this against his will and is very overwhelmed by CEO duties, so he reaches out to one of his father's sons, Timothy Drake-Wayne, for advice

So, danny definitely knows his heritage in this au. He was the spare to Damien's heir, and while their relationship was strained by the constant competition, they still love each other, even when Danny started to show more proficiency in infiltration and subterfuge than assassination. Damien and Danny have a huge fight before Danny leaves, with Damien swearing to never forgive Danny for his betrayal, while Danny is like "what betrayal??? I just cant bring myself to kill someone outside of self-defense??"

(One of the things I hate about Danny and Damien Twin AUs is this depiction that, just because (usually) Danny is unwilling to kill, that makes him weak and a traitor. You think the medical staff in the LoA are assassinating people? Or the lawyers? He's not useless, he's just not good as an assassin)

He was sent to the Fentons at like... seven? eight? to study how the Fentons are purifying lazurus waters from Jack and Maddie, both of whom are partly sponsored by the League of Assassins. He's also learning more about spying from Jack, surprisingly, because no one would expect him of being a top tier spy. He has the occasional mission as a child, but it's mostly shadowing Jack to learn how to spy.

Danny sends letters to both Talia and Damien regarding updates on his training and the Fenton's research, but after a year of no reply from Damien, it's only to Talia. He's feels super hurt by this, and abandoned by the LoA, but the Fentons are kind and familial, and Talia visits once a year. She's unwilling to risk visiting more often, lest she risk getting the JL or the Spiders attention, but sometimes she even manages to visit on his birthday!

(Meanwhile, Talia starts sending birthday assassins to kill Damien so she can spend their birthday with Danyal. She's a really hot and cold mom.

Talia: You can choose me, and have a birthday dinner. Or you can choose your father and have a birthday assassin. You're choice. )

When Slade blows up the LoA, Danyal is given permanent orders to remain as Daniel Fenton until Talia, and only Talia, brings him back to the League. No missions and only one letter every six months. But when Ra's comes back to life and the League is back in power, Talia... never tells Danyal. Because she's seen how happy Damien is being a normal child with their father and wants that for Danyal too. Plus, she wants to continue to have a good relationship one of her children, sue her bruce.

So Danny is completely convinced that the League is mostly gone other than his mother, her zealots, and knows that his brother is living with their father. and he's... relieved. His brother is safe, and his mom told him their grandfather was avenged, so Danny can just enjoy his life. Which he does.

He sends out his six month report days before the portal accident.

Canon stuff happens until Danny is sixteen and Vlad, the fruitloop, steps down as CEO and strong-arms Danny into becoming CEO in his place. Jack and Maddie (who at this point know [or have always known in Jack's case, adn Danny didn't appreciate his dad using his his poker face against him like that] about Phantom) are thrilled.

Vlad is using his "foster son" (Dark Danny, but in this idea, he's Dante Masters) as an excuse as to why he's stepping down, since Dante needs all the attention he can give as a "troubled youth". Danny secretly hopes Dante kills Vlad in his sleep, but signs the papers away.

And there's so much work.

Danny has some idea of what he's doing (Vlad co is a tech company and DALV is weapons manufacturing, plus vlad gave him a crash course on CEOing). Sam and Tuck even help! But he wishes there was someone who could understand the pain of being a CEO while still a teen. But... his father's son, his brother, is one such person. And even though the other would never know, he really wanted to get to know his other siblings. So Danny reaches out for advice to Timothy Drake-Wayne.

Tim is immediately on guard when this Damien clone walks into his office claiming to be the new Vlad Co CEO. The clone acts nothing like Damien, but he still thinks this Danny Fenton is a league plant.

His paranoia doubles when Damien freaks out and confesses that A) Danny is apparently his twin brother and B) that he's been with the League of Assassins this whole time. Damien, who really doesn't want to admit that the reason he forced himself to forget his brother was because said brother didn't want to kill people, says "Tch. I didn't want to associate with the likes of him, so I put him out of my mind." Tim now believes that he's dealing with a master assassin with a huge grudge against Damien and Danyal showing no signs of malicious or aggression in their meetings only convinces him that Danyal is a master actor too.

Which, Danyal is a master actor. But all that other stuff is just Tim reaching.

I think the most beautiful thing about writing of Howl and Sophie's pair is that they are written as people before being written as a pair. Let me explain this very quick.

The thing about book Sophie and Howl is that they are not really fully fitting into any "classic" romantic trope. They are not exactly enemies to lovers, as their angry chats are definitely cannot be considered a life or death battle, they are not rivals to lovers because the only aspect of rivalry between them is the cleaningness of Howl's room. They are not friends to lovers, as their relationship just doesn't fit into "friendship" structure at the very start, nor they are roomates (yes, they live in the same house but that's not the core aspect of their relationships). Of course, you can go on and fit the name of the trope you found specifically for them, but that's the thing.

They simply cannot be processed through a pairings lenses only, in order to understand how they act in relationship you need to analyse them separately, as a characters first of all. Cause that's what the book itself does!

Sure, it doesn't have a whole lot of romance instead, but it gives us time to learn and observe the life of incredibly written, alive characters, understand them as personalities first of all, while slowly immersing the dynamic between two characters (in this case, Howl and Sophie) into work. They are written as personalities, both being fully separated and interviewing, changing eachother's point of view.

It's difficult to find a trope for them. They're are not a trope. They are Howl and Sophie, and that's probably the only way their dynamic can be properly described. Just as real people, they are not really fitting into the boxes of linial character progression, but go way deeper into being complex, filled with little differences and moments only people with their personality can have in romantic (or any different) kind of interaction. They're imperfect, and silly, and multidimensional and the reader knows them well enough to imagine them interacting way beyond of what the book says to them.

They are being people before being a ship, a pair of a trope — and that's why they work so perfectly charming in the end.

Howl and Sophie are unique in being themselves.

So they sit down and play but obviously nene is sweeping the floor with tks because it's muscle memory for her already and she's way too fast meanwhile tks is like aahh... uhsh. AAHH NOO MY CHSRAVYER??! and keeps looking into the instructions book during the fight and after like 15 consecutive loses nene finally decides its too boring anf sighs and is like alright come. And they switch to practice mode or playing against bot or smth like that and nene shows him how to actually use those combos and let's him train with them so that hr actually gets used to them that they come naturally

And then tks actually manages to beat a bot and he's like!!! I did it@!@ hahah nene did you see that look how amazing that was!!! And nene just smiles soft but exasperated at her lame ass troupe leader like you sure did congrats but then tks starts being like but it's thanks to uou you showed me all those controls and all thanknyou nene!!! omg ty. twirls hair. to preface i truly haven't thought about this That Much outside of specific au-dependent scenarios so tgis will probably be very disorganized but i'll do my best

i think he has like. really mild one sided beef with crozier. he respects him a lot and begrudges how much he comes to like him, but for a while, especially while they're still on the ships, he haaaates him. he gets really protective of his friends, and hates the way crozier frustrates james and burdens ned by isolating himself and leaving them to essentially run and lead the ship / expedition without his senior authority.

dundy's got some real fierce blind loyalty to all his friends, but Especially james. he hates crozier on james' behalf because he knows james can't fully hate him himself. he encourages james to yell at crozier and tell him off etc etc etc. he's the "aren't you tired of being nice all the time? don't you just wanna go apeshit?" voice in james' ear. he tells james that crozier isn't worth his time and doesn't deserve his respect etc etc etc. and Then. when they're out of the ships out hauling on the ice and james and crozier are becoming actual friends, dundy starts getting jeaaalous. but like he keeps it to himself because he knows it's a good thing that their captains are getting along even if he doesn't like it. regardless he probably gets really clingy with james and more affectionate and posessive and pathetic. i think he's the most pathetic about james. that's his #1 guy who he'd go to the ends of the earth with, not out of duty but out of love. fully committed to never leaving his side if only he has the power to do so. he tries to shoulder as much of james' burden as he can and support him in any way possible, bc he knows him better than anyone else. mostly

and for ned i think he gets a whole different kind of protective over. dundy is someone i see very much wanting everyone he considers in his group to feel included and seen and cared for (he probably would listen to hodgson yap and yap for hours and be genuinely engaged in the conversation where most others would be completely clocked out), and when ned starts visiting erebus more for command meetings without crozier or coming to steal james' alcohol and whatnot, he just. attatches to him and essentially assimilates him into the erebus family unit. constantly makes sure ned is taking careof himself and getting enough sleep often by seeing to it himself. he'd probably sleep on top of ned if it meant ensuring he rested for any prolonged duration of time, because he's just dramatic and unserious like that. i hate terms like mom friend or mother hen but he is kinda those things. he sees a sad neglected adult man and goes "is anyone gonna emotionally support and adore that?" and doesn't wait for an answer. he gets even More pissed at crozier for making ned deal with everything alone and burdening him with so much responsibility. he's kind of an eternal optimist "we always deserve better than these horrid circumstances" type guy. perfect support for ned's misery. i also think he really pitys ned, and i think he's someone unafraid of pitying people. he doesn't see it as like. condescending or belittling. he sees things in the cold harsh reality that they are and wants everyone to be able to be happier than they are. and i think that is fully epitomized in his relationship with ned

with gore it's a little more difficult because gore has like 8 seconds of screentime in the whole show (which is only slightly less than dundy's 12 seconds, alas). i think gore is incredibly competent and reliable and calm and reassuring and sweet and attentive and caring and dundy just adores him. i mesn i think dundy adores a lot of people he has a heart full of love but yk. they can depend on each other and relax in each other's presence and really trust each other to be Capable and Alert and feel very safe around each other. i think dundy flirts with gore more than anyone else (i don't think he really has to Flirt with james in the typical way it's more unspoken action or dramatic displays or direct love confessions) and gets really theatrical with it. something abt gore being generally quite calm and polite and dundy trying really hard to make him properly laugh. in an unrealistic scenario where gore didn't get merc'd immediately, he'd also rope gore into his ned little defense league and they're all veryvery close. dogpiling for warmth and such. they try and kidnap ned and not let him go back to terror because they can treat him better and keep him safer than anyone over there (smth smth dundy getting selfish and disregarding the greater good in favor of the well being of those he is closest with and prioritizes in his mind). in the realistic situation where gore Does get merc'd i think dundy loses a lot of trust in himself and his own ability because he bounced so much of his confidence off of gore. not to mention every person he loses would Majorlyyyy damage him emotionally. if he ever found out crozier used gore's eulogy on sir john i think he'd flip tf out

like i said earlier i think he very much thinks of himself as having a Group. he's very outgoing and loud and friendly and affectionate within his group and his people but Isn't Suuuper outgoing outside of it? like at a party or social event he'd rather talk to his two friends for three hours than go meet new people, not because he's shy or anything but because he just likes his own people so much, why should he go find someone else? that being said he's very accepting of new people within the Group and will gladly accept new people into his heart, if they deserve it. i think he's got some standards for that though. he thinks very very highly of his people. and Within his group he tries to make sure everybody is included and seen/heard etc. at full command dinners with all the lieutenants he's gonna be asking like irving questions and nudging shoulders and elbows to make sure no one feels left out

also he loves theater. he and james love doing theater together. he's just as much a fan of drama and theater as james is. awwww

I think I accidentally uncovered yesterday why my family generally are fine with generative AI, especially when it comes to arts and "creative" matters.

I am (famously) quite bad at taking compliments (though I have gotten WAY better at it, and am actively working on it), and was drawing on my tablet while my parents sat next to me. My mom complimented my drawing skills, following it up with "I can barely draw a stick figure".

(Side note: this might be a me-problem, but I think that combining a compliment with a "comparison to the speaker" gives the compliment a sour undertone, but again, that might just be me. I've seen too many posts and things about "comparison is the theif of joy" or whatever the quote is, to feel comfy with accepting a compliment that essentially boils down to "holy crap you're so much better than me!!" 🫠🫠)

I thanked her, and replied with something along the lines of "it's all about practice, and I have practiced a lot," to which she countered with "no but like, you've always been good at drawing," to which I tried explaining that, like a muscle, I have been drawing and doodling a lot, in other words, practiced, right? I have always had an interest in drawing, which of course helps keeping me motivated to actually get better at it. And if she wanted to be able to draw more than a stick figure, I am certain she would be able to if she did practice (I brought up PewDiePie's drawing videos as an example), but she dismissed it entirely as something she wasn't able to do.

Even though my mother, having an interest in the human body and as a result knowing damn near every single muscle in the body by the latin name because she studied that, refused to accept that I have done the same to get better at my own skill, because, of course, I never went to school for it, right? I don't have a diploma to prove that I have practiced an ungodly amount of hours and watched more tutorials than I will ever care to count.

Being "good at drawing" (and other arts) is (I think) something my family simply believes that you either are born with, or you're not.

And that's where the justification for gen AI comes in, right? Because if arts is not a thing you practice and study to get better at, it is probably, in their minds, ableist to talk bad about gen AI, because "how can you gatekeep expression in art like that?" (My brother once pulled the argument that "well what if someone wants to make a comic and has the story and all but can't draw? Don't you think they deserve to create that comic in other ways, then?" to which I have never been more confused because what the entire fuck do you think other comic artists did to achieve that in the past, my guy??)

I eventually gave up when my mom kept asking me to "just accept the compliment" but I haven't quite been able to. Because if the compliment is just regarding something "I had since I was born", what has all my practice been for? Why have I "wasted" all this time trying to get better if I was born with the skillset I have now? Why is the compliment directed at me if my parents were the ones bringing me into this world? Shouldn't they be patting themselves on the back for bringing such a creative spirit to life?

Ranking the Trio based on how they'd potentially parent

Makoto - He definitely has the most in regards of handling kids. I doubt he just sat their and did nothing while Komaru was growing up. Not that he'd be able to do TOO much since Makoto and Komaru aren't that far in age, but I feel he would have had the opportunity to observe and learn that way. Being an older sibling as well lends him to have a bit more experience with caring for those younger than him. Thus, I can see Makoto being pretty good at this. Or well, he'd say it's average but this guy can't help but undersell himself like that. Feel he'd be a good, classic dad.

Byakuya - Yeah. He has absolutely nothing. Or does he...??? OoOoOo! After all, there could be a SLIVER of chance though that he was educated in how to care for kids due to the fact that he's the heir. He's gotta make a ton of them. Buuuuuut, he could just, give the kids off to the maids or butlers something. So yeah. Circles back around to nope. He's got nothing. The added part is that he was the youngest in his family too, specifically in the competition though still the youngest there. Thus, he'd probably have a lot to learn before he can start potentially raising the kid.

Kyoko - Like Byakuya, she probably has minimal experience due to both her personality and how she was raised. However, unlike Byakuya, she doesn't have the "she might have learned at least something about childcare due to rich boy" excuse that might give her a change of having prior knowledge on kids. She legit has nothing. However, unlike him, I feel she'd be quicker to learn and, in adulthood, understand kids more than he does though both of them would be in a bit of a learning curve together regardless. Byakuya's just going to take more time and be petty with the fact that Kyoko and Makoto are excelling at this child care stuff more than him.

In regards on how I feel the three would work together in a parenting scenario (either the three are a thing or they're all just helping out), I feel they'd work good together! They'd really be able to cultivate a well rounded child with their differing approaches and ways of handling a child. Feel Makoto would be good with giving the kid a good sense or morality, Byakuya would ensure the kid knows their worth and can be proud of their achievements, Kyoko can teach the kid good critical thinking skills, and that's just scratching the surface of the possibilities! The trio would also be able to help each other out if the other's not as well versed with a certain task. For example, I feel Byakuya would have trouble changing the baby. There's also the mix of just general parenting troubles they'd face along the way. Furthermore, some other general thoughts I have on this concept is Hiro would be such a goofy uncle. He gives such good weird uncle energy. The kind of uncle one would wanna hang out with for sure and hear crazy stories from. Maybe a few conspiracy theories might be told as well though I'm sure the kid could eventually snuff out the truth eventually, no matter if one, two or all of the trio are parenting the kid. All three of them are smart in their own ways, that's for sure! Moreover, I feel Hina would be a cool ass aunt, definitely trying to get the kid into swimming and being nice to have donuts around every time they visit. Feel she'd also just be really fun to be around (she IS the older sibling in her own family too), the type of aunt who'd spill embarrassing stuff the trio might of done as in their youth. Feel Toko would also have good aunt potential too in a different way than Hina. She'd be the type one would get good book recommendations from. Also, while Hiro and Hina are more high energy, Toko's a lot more reserved so visits with her would be a lot less chaotic and more of an opportunity for learning for the kid whenever they're around. (Syo can supply any chaos anyway) Not saying Toko can't be fun to be around on her own! Feel she'd definitely say some memorable things around the kid, maybe roasting Hiro behind his back which would be humorous. Additionally, feel Toko would underestimate her ability regards to being around kids. Like, she'd think she wasn't doing as good as she was or just have those seeds of doubt in her about it. She has good potential to be just as cool of an aunt as Hina though, Komaru too which one can't forget her! Feel Komaru would be around when Toko is too so Toko isn't just doing it all alone, she's got some help with Komaru in terms of the kid and their potential visits. Also, no clue how to squeeze this in but I just have that weird gut feeling that Komaru would bring the kid to the zoo or the park or just some form of outing. I just feel she would.
