If the entertainment industry is in crisis (as everyone loves to say when things are in crisis) and one could argue you’re at the top of your game with like the prince where you write stuff you star in, have you thought about doing crowdfunding for something you’ve written but need to finance? Like how again again was an indiegogo campaign. I feel like with patreon and super chats and nebula and how draculas ex girlfriend got funded it seems obvious that your fans want to make more content with you happen and aren’t afraid to put the money in to see more Abigail.
Yeah I mean, that's definitely an option! The kind of stuff I'm writing right now would have budgets measured in the low millions though, so probably a bit out of the reach of an indiegogo campaign lol

Why we’re against AI as a writing tool
Sophisticated AI tools like ChatGPT are the result of systemic, shameless theft of intellectual property and creative labor on a massive scale. These companies have mined the data of human genius… without permission. They have no intention of acknowledging their stolen sources, let alone paying the creators.
The tech industry’s defense is “Well, we stole so much from so many that it kinda doesn’t count, wouldn’t ya say?” Which is an argument that makes me feel like the mayor of Crazytown. I don’t doubt the courts will rule in their favor, not because it’s right, but because the opportunities for wealth generation are too succulent to let a lil’ thang like fairness win.
I’m not a luddite. I recognize that AI feels like magic to people who aren’t strong writers. I’d feel differently if the technology was achieved without the theft of my work. Couldn’t these tools have been made using legally obtained materials? Ah, but then they wouldn’t have been first to market! Think of the shareholders!
We’re lucky to have the ability and will to write. We won’t willingly use tools that devalue that skill. At most, I could see us using AI to assist with specific, narrow tasks like transcribing interview audio into text.
At a recent industry meetup, I listened as two personal finance gurus gushed about how easy AI made their lives. “All my newsletters and blogs are AI now! I add my own touches here and there—but it does 95% of the work!” Must be nice, I whispered to the empty void where my faith in mankind once dwelt, fingernails digging into my palms. It’s tough knowing I’m one of the myriad voices “streamlining their production.”
I feel strongly that every content creator who uses AI has a minimum duty to acknowledge it. Few will. It sucks. I’m frothing. Let’s move on.

Dylan O’Brien Sets ‘Twinless’ With James Sweeney Directing & Starring; Republic Pictures Takes Global On Three Point Capital & David Permut Production
Tumblr media
EXCLUSIVE: Dylan O’Brien is set to headline in James Sweeney‘s dark comedy Twinless, which the latter wrote and will also star in. Republic Pictures has taken global rights to the movie. Cameras are currently rolling on the movie in Portland, OR. O’Brien will executive produce.
The pic follows two young men who meet in a twin bereavement support group. An unlikely bromance develops between them. Twinless follow Sweeney’s directorial debut, Straight Up, which notched the filmmaker a Best First Screenplay nom at the 2021 Independent Spirit Awards.
Three Point Capital is financing the film with Ali Jazayeri, David Gendron and Liz Destro also serving as EPs.
Twinless is produced by Academy Award nominated producer David Permut and Permut Presentations (Hacksaw Ridge, Face/Off) whose most recent Netflix movie, Rustin, garnered Colman Domingo a Best Actor Oscar nomination.
Miky Lee (Parasite) Vice Chairwoman of CJ and who most recently executive produced the Oscar nominated film Past Lives, serves as EP.
Permut Presentations Director Of Development Alex Astrachan co-produces.
Permut said, “I was absolutely knocked out by James’ first film Straight Up and was determined to work with him. I immediately responded to the originality and provocative concept of Twinless. The dark comedy depicts complex characters in such an irreverent, emotional and hysterical way. The chemistry between Dylan, who portrays the role of identical twin brothers, opposite James’ character is absolutely combustible.”
O’Brien’s most recent film is the independent feature Ponyboi, in which he plays a villainous pimp and small-time drug dealer, recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He will next be seen in the upcoming films SNL 1975 (from director Jason Reitman) as Dan Aykroyd, Caddo Lake (from the writing-directing team of Logan George and Celine Held, and producer M. Night Shyamalan), and Anniversary (a thriller co-starring Diane Lane, Kyle Chandler, Zoey Deutch and Phoebe Dynevor). The $1.7 billion grossing star is well-known to audiences from his work in The Maze Runner franchise, as well as the hit MTV series Teen Wolf.
Permut also recently produced the Paramount+ series hit, Lawman: Bass Reeves from Taylor Sheridan, which stars SAG nominee David Oyelowo. His upcoming high priority slate includes Being Heumann written and directed by Academy Award winner Sian Heder (CODA) at Apple, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris’ (Little Miss Sunshine) film The Invite, and Face/Off II at Paramount, the sequel to Permut’s 1997 hit film, to be directed by Adam Wingard.
Sweeney is repped by UTA, 2AM and Brecheen Feldman Breimer Silver and Thompson. O’Brien is repped by WME, Principal Entertainment, and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark and Permut is repped by John Tishbi at Pearlman & Tishbi.
Three Point Capital, established in 2009, is a financier and service provider in the film, television, and commercial industries. They have financed over 400 films, including The Butler, Clerks III and the Oscar-winning Manchester by the Sea. They most recently provided funding for the upcoming Michael Keaton starrers Know Goes Away and Goodrich, the Nicholas Cage starrer Longlegs, the Tina Fey/Jon Hamm comedy Maggie Moore(s) and the recent Sundance premiere Rob Peace.
Paramount Global Content Distribution is revitalizing the former Republic Pictures label, originally founded in 1935. The newly branded acquisition label will leverage Paramount Global’s vast worldwide distribution channels, across home entertainment and third-party distribution platforms to distribute a wide range of acquired films. Republic Pictures is an acquisition-only label under Paramount Pictures.

“A recent Goldman Sachs study found that generative AI tools could, in fact, impact 300 million full-time jobs worldwide, which could lead to a ‘significant disruption’ in the job market.”
“Insider talked to experts and conducted research to compile a list of jobs that are at highest-risk for replacement by AI.”
Tech jobs (Coders, computer programmers, software engineers, data analysts)
Media jobs (advertising, content creation, technical writing, journalism)
Legal industry jobs (paralegals, legal assistants)
Market research analysts
Teachers
Finance jobs (Financial analysts, personal financial advisors)
Traders (stock markets)
Graphic designers
Accountants
Customer service agents
"’We have to think about these things as productivity enhancing tools, as opposed to complete replacements,’ Anu Madgavkar, a partner at the McKinsey Global Institute, said.”
What will be eliminated from all of these industries is the ENTRY LEVEL JOB.  You know, the jobs where newcomers gain valuable real-world experience and build their resumes?  The jobs where you’re supposed to get your 1-2 years of experience before moving up to the big leagues (which remain inaccessible to applicants without the necessary experience, which they can no longer get, because so-called “low level” tasks will be completed by AI).
There’s more...
Wendy’s to test AI chatbot that takes your drive-thru order
“Wendy’s is not entirely a pioneer in this arena. Last year, McDonald’s opened a fully automated restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas, and deployed more AI-operated drive-thrus around the country.”
BT to cut 55,000 jobs with up to a fifth replaced by AI
“Chief executive Philip Jansen said ‘generative AI’ tools such as ChatGPT - which can write essays, scripts, poems, and solve computer coding in a human-like way - ‘gives us confidence we can go even further’.”
Why promoting AI is actually hurting accounting
“Accounting firms have bought into the AI hype and slowed their investment in personnel, believing they can rely more on machines and less on people.“
Will AI Replace Software Engineers?
“The truth is that AI is unlikely to replace high-value software engineers who build complex and innovative software. However, it could replace some low-value developers who build simple and repetitive software.”

here for the free mini readings!
🥳, Libra sun, A.D
my question(s) are:
When I do eventually publish (a book), will it have a good outcome?
will I meet my Fs before next year? (I keep getting mixed signals 💀)
what should I be focusing on right now?
thank you so much for your time and energy in advance ❤️ I hope you have a great day/night.
Hello AD!!! Thank you for joining me today! Get ready for a lot of reading bc damn…😳
Q. 1 + 3
Ok so first things first, I’m picking up aggressive energy, frustration towards this book. There’s an air of impatience and dissatisfaction. I’m getting the feeling that it’s less on creativity and more on what the public will enjoy. It sucks bc how the book gets received will bounce back and you may be prone to the negative criticism. “Is it even worth it? What’s the point anymore?” There has to have been inspiration before, but now there’s just a lot of conflict going thru your mind. I don’t think you’re going to publish it anytime soon bc there’s still a lot of dissatisfaction with it, and you’re still very stuck in a period of stagnancy and worrying. Even if you were to release it like “*shrugs* whatever- I’m just glad I got it over with,” you’re still gonna be unsatisfied with it. This could be due to the content of the book being heavily filtered or changed to fit what people would wanna read, instead of writing what you truly want to write about, raw creativity and everything you’d wanted to put in it. You’ll be struggling to find inspiration for a while and this stagnancy could last you well enough until financial issues finally get you in the gut. I have to tell you: put your soul into this project. Welcome your bouts of creativity. Anything can be as inspiration. A part of this huge bubble of stagnation is how competitive people can get in the creative industry, but don’t let that get you down too much either. Don’t worry about time, bc you will align with what you were meant to do if you truly sit down and listen to yourself. Stop worrying about the outcome and just write whatever you want. “Just fucking write.” I felt urged to say that 😂 There also has to be some kind of ego death happening in order for you to finish your book as yourself. Also, if you’re afraid of running out of time for whatever reason, don’t be. If you rush things, they’ll fall and crumble as fast as they were found. Good things take time. I’m urging you to keep that in mind!!
Additionally, if your time is reliant on financial needs, make sure you have something to support yourself on the side to gain extra.
Q. 2 + extra needed advice
Ok so the person who could be a person of love interest is possibly someone from the past (like someone you’d already had a relationship with, someone you knew of, or someone you just knew.) If this is not a returning person, it’s someone that you could’ve known from a past life. Don’t get fooled easily by people who come packed with money btw!
There are too many things atm to figure out, especially internally, before you meet a good future spouse. Otherwise, acting out of desperation and impatience to find the one will bring a worse outcome (especially someone who doesn’t take care of their finances well. Small hint.)
I would HEAVILY advise that if someone is toxic (past or new person) and you know it? Don’t chase after them. Also!!! Avoid possible swindlers or people who try to use/cheat you out of your money. Don’t make yourself vulnerable to these people, and don’t give yourself away so easily. Set boundaries and be more strict with the people around you. Don’t just let anyone in easily.
That’s about it! Thank you for taking the time to send in an ask AD!! Best of luck 😎👍

The Communist Manifesto - Part 14
[ ◁ First | ◃Prev | Table of Contents | Next ▹ ]
III. Socialist and Communist Literature
1. Reactionary Socialism
A. Feudal Socialism
Owing to their historical position, it became the vocation of the aristocracies of France and England to write pamphlets against modern bourgeois society. In the French Revolution of July 1830, and in the English reform agitation‡, these aristocracies again succumbed to the hateful upstart. Thenceforth, a serious political struggle was altogether out of the question. A literary battle alone remained possible. But even in the domain of literature the old cries of the restoration period had become impossible.*
‡ A reference to the movement for an electoral reform which, under the pressure of the working class, was passed by the British House of Commons in 1831 and finally endorsed by the House of Lords in June, 1832. The reform was directed against monopoly rule of the landed and finance aristocracy and opened the way to Parliament for the representatives of the industrial bourgeoisie. Neither workers nor the petty-bourgeois were allowed electoral rights, despite assurances they would.
* Not the English Restoration (1660-1689), but the French Restoration (1814-1830). [Note by Engels to the English edition of 1888.]
In order to arouse sympathy, the aristocracy was obliged to lose sight, apparently, of its own interests, and to formulate their indictment against the bourgeoisie in the interest of the exploited working class alone. Thus, the aristocracy took their revenge by singing lampoons on their new masters and whispering in his ears sinister prophesies of coming catastrophe.
In this way arose feudal Socialism: half lamentation, half lampoon; half an echo of the past, half menace of the future; at times, by its bitter, witty and incisive criticism, striking the bourgeoisie to the very heart’s core; but always ludicrous in its effect, through total incapacity to comprehend the march of modern history.
The aristocracy, in order to rally the people to them, waved the proletarian alms-bag in front for a banner. But the people, so often as it joined them, saw on their hindquarters the old feudal coats of arms, and deserted with loud and irreverent laughter.
One section of the French Legitimists and “Young England” exhibited this spectacle.
In pointing out that their mode of exploitation was different to that of the bourgeoisie, the feudalists forget that they exploited under circumstances and conditions that were quite different and that are now antiquated. In showing that, under their rule, the modern proletariat never existed, they forget that the modern bourgeoisie is the necessary offspring of their own form of society.
For the rest, so little do they conceal the reactionary character of their criticism that their chief accusation against the bourgeois amounts to this, that under the bourgeois régime a class is being developed which is destined to cut up root and branch the old order of society.
What they upbraid the bourgeoisie with is not so much that it creates a proletariat as that it creates a revolutionary proletariat.
In political practice, therefore, they join in all coercive measures against the working class; and in ordinary life, despite their high-falutin phrases, they stoop to pick up the golden apples dropped from the tree of industry, and to barter truth, love, and honour, for traffic in wool, beetroot-sugar, and potato spirits.†
† This applies chiefly to Germany, where the landed aristocracy and squirearchy have large portions of their estates cultivated for their own account by stewards, and are, moreover, extensive beetroot-sugar manufacturers and distillers of potato spirits. The wealthier British aristocracy are, as yet, rather above that; but they, too, know how to make up for declining rents by lending their names to floaters or more or less shady joint-stock companies. [Note by Engels to the English edition of 1888.]
As the parson has ever gone hand in hand with the landlord, so has Clerical Socialism with Feudal Socialism.
Nothing is easier than to give Christian asceticism a Socialist tinge. Has not Christianity declaimed against private property, against marriage, against the State? Has it not preached in the place of these, charity and poverty, celibacy and mortification of the flesh, monastic life and Mother Church? Christian Socialism is but the holy water with which the priest consecrates the heart-burnings of the aristocrat.

Tumblr media
11 years ago today, my first novel The Brotherhood was published. 5 years ago today, the second edition of The Brotherhood was published.
The Brotherhood remains my most popular book. I've been talking with some people in TV about making it into a limited TV series. If so, it would be as groundbreaking, if not more so, than the book: the first mystery/drama TV series with mostly Indian-American characters set in the USA, that I can think of.
Because of that, the project still remains an up-hill battle. Almost all American TV series with People of Color are comedies, and despite what they claim, very few industry insiders are interested in financing and screening content that's genuinely original and challenging. I'm looking to connect with more people in the TV/film industry, particularly of South Asian descent, who can make this happen: content acquirers, writers, directors, producers, actors, actresses, agents etc. If you know anyone who can help, please send them my way.
It's been 4 years since the publication of The Run and Hide, the second volume of The Brotherhood Chronicle. Despite getting the least acclaim and having won no awards, this remains my personal favorite book, and a darling for Desai diehards.
The Dance Towards Death was published 3 years ago, and it's won 13 literary honors in that time, my most acclaimed book so far.
In about a month, it will be the 10th anniversary of Good Americans, my most provocative book and a subject of divided opinion. Its anthology sequel, Bad Americans, is my longest and most ambitious book to date, a novel and short story collection in one. I'm working hard on it, and the polished manuscript should be ready to send out to agents etc. around January 2024.
I've stayed the course and maintained my literary independence for more than a decade. Let's see if I can do that and still convince a major publisher to bring Bad Americans out into the literary sphere and get it the wide acclamation and readership I believe it deserves.
The New Wei Literary Movement and its associated Salons are gaining traction. I've met many writers, artists, musicians, actors and filmmakers over the last six months and I hope we've inspired them to produce new dynamic projects.
I'm also working to interview provocative artists of many mediums and produce articles on them. Ultimately I plan to write a book on the wider literary/artistic scene, our tumultuous decade and The New Wei.
Then there are my travels: recently to Germany/Austria/Italy, across the USA and soon to Greece and Turkey too. I know a lot of people have been screaming for me to write a non-fiction book about all these crazy adventures, and that might finally happen.
In addition, there's plenty afoot at the library too: our annual Southeast Queens Author Festival at Cambria Heights Library on 9/30 at 1:30pm, dynamic planned panels for ALA in Baltimore and San Diego, a renovated Teen Center, new art installations, and plenty more.
Things have been busy in the best possible way, and I'm grateful for it.

Good evening, folks. I'm Elsa. I'm a freelance editor with an English degree and eight years of experience in the industry.
And you know what?
We're a week into November. We're a week into NaNoWriMo. I know just from scrolling my dash that a lot of you are well on your way to reaching your goal. Once the month ends, a lot of you are going to be contemplating the process of getting that first draft edited. And you know what? Editing your own writing is hard! You know what it's supposed to say--you wrote it! Your brain's going to just skip over typos or missed words. And not everyone wants to shelve a project long enough to be their own set of fresh eyes.
That's where I come in.
My credentials:
I have a Bachelor’s degree in English and I’ve been freelancing as an editor since 2014.
I primarily use the Chicago Manual of Style.
I’ve handled fiction and nonfiction.
Nonfiction topics I’ve dealt with include law, business, finance, marketing, tech, travel, wellness, and medical.
I’ll handle any genre of fiction. That includes gore, horror, and smut. I have no triggers.
The shortest piece I’ve edited was 95 words. The longest piece I’ve edited was 115,000 words.
Things I’ll do:
Beta reading: During this stage, I don’t do any correcting of typos or grammar or anything like that, but instead offer my input on anything that stands out or seems weird or noteworthy. Like if I get to the end of the book and still have no idea what a prominent character looks like, if it feels like a plot thread didn’t get tied up, or if I just think parts of it are a bit dull. Or if I think something works really well! If you have a list of questions you want me to keep in mind, I will do so, but otherwise I’ll just make observations as they come to me. $1.00 per page.
Line editing: This is when I go through the story line by line to spice up the prose, while also adjusting sections that are awkwardly or confusingly worded. (Don't worry, it will still have your voice at the end.) There won’t be much of a focus on basic proofreading since the contents aren’t quite finalized yet, though I’ll probably fix any errors that jump out at me. $1.50 per 100 words.
Copy editing: Making sure the writing is as clear and consistent as it can be. I’ll fix spelling and grammar issues. If a number is spelled out on one page but typed as a digit on another page, I’ll make sure those sorts of things are consistent. If a page switches from present tense to past tense halfway through, I’ll fix it. Misplaced modifiers? I’ll iron them out. Subject changing halfway through a sentence? That will also be addressed here. Would a section make more sense with a different order? I'll rearrange it. $1.00 per 100 words.
Proofreading: Checking spelling and punctuation and so on. English is a pinata of spelling and grammar rules, and even people who have been speaking the language since birth can’t always write it. There’s no shame in needing some spring cleaning. $0.85 per 100 words.
Rush Orders:
In the event that you need something done very quickly, a rush order fee will be applied. Regardless of the length, if you need it within less than three full days, a rush order fee will be applied. Beyond that, take the final word count and then divide by 4,000, and that is the number of days in which the rush order fee applies.
Ex.: If you have a 52,000-word novel, then if you divide that by 4,000, you get 13. If you need me to finish the document in under 13 days, a rush order fee will apply.
For the rush order fee, take a quarter of the price for work and add that on.
Ex.: If we say that 52,000-word novel is 104 pages and you want the full works–beta reading, line editing, copy editing, and proofreading–then that would be $1,846. The rush order fee would be $461.50, bringing the full total up to $2,307.50.
I take payment through Paypal or Venmo. If I have multiple takers lined up, then I’ll work through projects in the order they’re presented to me, though rush orders will be allowed to jump the queue. We’ll address scheduling discrepancies in advance, obviously. If you need something done within two weeks and there are three people ahead of you, I will say as much.
If you can’t or don’t want to pay all at once, then I’m happy to work out a weekly, biweekly, or monthly payment plan.
My ask box and my DMs are open. If you don’t want to get in touch with me through tumblr, you can also email me ([email protected]) or use Discord (shaicarus#8286).

How to Earn Online Money In the USA
There are various ways to earn money online in the USA. Keep in mind that like any other form of income, online earning requires effort, time, and sometimes initial investment. Here are some legitimate methods to make money online:
Freelancing: Offer your skills and services on freelance platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer, or Toptal. Depending on your expertise, you can find opportunities in writing, graphic design, web development, digital marketing, and more.
Online Surveys and Market Research: Participate in paid surveys and market research studies on websites like Swagbucks, Survey Junkie, and Vindale Research. While this won't make you rich, it's an easy way to earn some extra cash.
Content Creation: If you have a passion for creating content, you can start a blog, YouTube channel, or podcast. Once you gain an audience, you can monetize through ads, sponsorships, and affiliate marketing.
Online Teaching: If you have expertise in a subject or skill, consider teaching online. Platforms like VIPKid and Teachable allow you to create and sell courses to students worldwide.
Selling Products: Start an online store using platforms like Shopify or Etsy to sell physical or digital products. You can also leverage Amazon's FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) to sell products without the hassle of shipping and handling.
Stock Photography: If you're a photographer, you can sell your photos on stock photography websites like Shutterstock or Adobe Stock.
Virtual Assistant: Offer virtual assistant services to businesses and entrepreneurs. Tasks may include managing emails, scheduling, data entry, and more.
Affiliate Marketing: Promote products or services through affiliate links, and earn a commission for every sale made through your unique referral link.
Online Investing: Consider investing in stocks, cryptocurrencies, or peer-to-peer lending platforms, but always remember that investing involves risk.
Online Gaming and Streaming: If you're skilled in gaming, you can earn money through live streaming on platforms like Twitch, YouTube Gaming, or Facebook Gaming. Additionally, some games offer opportunities to earn money through in-game items and currencies.
Dropshipping: Start an e-commerce business without holding any inventory. With dropshipping, you sell products to customers, and the supplier ships the products directly to them. Platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce can help you set up your online store.
Remote Work: Many companies offer remote job opportunities. Websites like Remote.co and FlexJobs list remote positions across various industries.
Transcription Services: If you have good typing skills, consider providing transcription services to convert audio or video content into text. Websites like Rev and TranscribeMe offer such opportunities.
Online Consulting: If you have expertise in a particular field (e.g., business, finance, marketing, health), offer consulting services online via video calls or email.
Rent Out Your Space: If you have extra space, you can rent it out through platforms like Airbnb for short-term rentals or use Peerspace for events and meetings.
Online Surplus Sales: Sell items you no longer need on online marketplaces like eBay, Facebook Marketplace, or Craigslist.
Language Tutoring: If you are fluent in multiple languages, offer language tutoring or translation services through websites like italki or Verbling.
Remote Programming: If you're a programmer or software developer, you can find remote coding projects on platforms like GitHub, GitLab, and Stack Overflow Jobs.
Online Data Entry: Some companies offer data entry tasks that can be completed remotely. Look for opportunities on job boards or freelancing platforms.
Social Media Management: Help businesses manage their social media presence and create content for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Create and Sell Printables: If you have design skills, create printable templates or digital products like planners, calendars, and artwork to sell on platforms like Etsy or your website.
Online Gaming Tournaments: If you're a skilled gamer, participate in online gaming tournaments that offer cash prizes.
Remote Customer Service: Some companies hire remote customer service representatives to handle customer inquiries via phone, chat, or email.
Virtual Events and Webinars: Host virtual events or webinars on topics of interest and charge attendees for access.
Remember that success in online ventures often requires consistency, dedication, and adaptability. It may take time to build a sustainable income stream, so be patient and keep learning and improving your skills. Always be cautious of scams and never invest money you can't afford to lose in any online opportunity.
