On characters...
So, I love writing characters and also love giving advice to people who want to have more interesting characters in their stories.
I happened to remember something about a character I'm currently writing for and wanted to share it.
So, I sometimes write "test stories" for characters to test their personalities, roles in the story, appearance, and even their conflicts. I totally forgot I did this with one character where I pretty much wrote a fanfiction for him before using him in the main story he's in now.
What that did was allow me to pick how I wanted him to be and solidify that before putting him in the main story. Essentially, that story is the exact same and his role is the same also; but writing the fanfiction allowed me to explore parts of him I'd never do in the actual story.
So, if you're ever struggling on making a character in any sense, try this!

Follow Me
I will do more smut and maybe take it all the way next time. Love y’all💗😦
CW: Some smut, some language.
Villain laughed with humour as soon as they caught sight of Hero trying to escape the binds again.
“Oh dear, you know that won’t work again.” Villain lifted up their weapon and saw Hero tense their shoulders. They were locked in a sturdy bind with their arms cross behind their back.
“I’d like to test that.”
Hero pushed themselves up from the ground and dodged a blow to their chest. They tried again to free their arms with much frustration.
Villain stumbled foreword but regained their posture. “You’re quick. But I’m quicker.” Hero huffed with annoyance and raced out of the building to the streets. People scattered all over the place and ran to seek shelter from the debris falling from the sky.
A bombing nearby had caused enough ruckus to distract police from Villain’s true intention. Hero tripped on a fallen bicycle and fell flat on their face. From behind them they could barely make out the sounds of Villain’s footsteps compared to the loud noise of the city surrounding them.
Villain cackled and caught up.
Their weapon immediately came into sight as their feet stood planted in front of them.
Hero clenched their teeth and watched Villain kneel down until their eyes met. “Cmon, everyone knows they predator always catches their prey.”
In response their nemesis gave them an obvious eye-roll. “Shut up.” They sat up slowly again and backed up slowly, their back unexpectedly meeting the bumper of a car.
Villain scooted closer in response. Their damned smile had given them the same feeling like always. The ache in their chest kept growing each day and Hero knew they were falling for them again.
“You’re coming with me, love.” Villain tapped the tip of their nose, and what Hero wished more than ever was for their touch to linger.
“I’m not.” They mumbled.
“But you want to.” They tilted their head.
Hero blushed and looked around the streets that emptied out. This wasn’t what they were aiming for, and it would only be a matter of time before authorities arrived.
“I don’t.”
If they looked into Villain’s gaze one more time they would surely give in to their desires. It was then that Hero felt the tingling sensation of their hand glide smoothly up their chest and to their chin forcing them to face Villain.
“Hero...” They firmly spoke. “You want to. I know you do, love.” Their voice lowered almost with lust and again, Hero fell for the trap laid out before them.
Villain left their weapon to the side and pressed their lips against theirs with a passion they hadn’t experienced. Hero instantly melted and reciprocated the feeling to their lips. They remained still for a moment just before the unexpected moans escaped their lips as soon as Villain pushed further and went to explore other parts.
When Villain’s eyes fluttered open they captured the sight of Hero’s guard lowering. Finally succumbing to the temptation. They smiled with delight and ran down the palm of their hand to the side of their hips and thighs.
It was almost too easy to play out their wildest dreams and in public much less.
Villain worked their lips down their neck and left a trail of teeth marks. The other shuddered at them. Their hips finally responding to the touch and pushing upwards with want. Villain smiled as soon as they realized the results were coming in positively. They gripped the back of Hero’s head and tightly pulled their head back by the hair.
“See?” They whispered to their ear. “Don’t you want to come with me now?”
“Mmm…” Hero bit their lip. There was no way they could leave their job.
Their nemesis slipped a hand between their legs and padded them softly. “Come on dear we don’t have all day.”
The other groaned heavily and felt their legs shift to lift up to the touch. It was so light and distant it couldn’t possibly be more teasing than this.
Villain raised their head to gaze down at Hero’s figure; their face was burning with embarrassment and want. It made Villain want to kiss them again. “What’s wrong, Hero?”
They shut their eyes trying to rid of the feeling of desire and return their professional self. “Villain, please…”
“You know you’re making this so difficult for me.” They stared down with eyes full of pity and continued pressing and stroking their most sensitive part. Hero let out a whine that sent shivers down Villain’s back. Of course they couldn’t leave them here, but kidnapping was certainly still an option if they weren’t willing to come voluntarily.
They panted heavily as soon as the motion between their legs sped up. “Villain! I—”
“You?”
They finally cracked open an eye lid and saw the criminal’s waiting expression. “S-stop!”
“Oh no, no, dear. Don’t say that.” They pulled their head in closer and laid another deep kiss towards them. This time Hero couldn’t stop them from pushing their tongue around their mouth without concern for their circumstance.
But it felt so good.
And Villain’s touch was always so careful with them.
Eventually, Villain thought, they would agree.
Villain pulled away again and watched their glassy gaze roll up to the back of their head. Villain paused their action and went to remove their suit with eagerness. There was little effort to stop them by the time they got Hero to flip over onto the ground, now just partially dressed. Though now Villain had gained access to their paints where their pleasure was the highest. Their face was pushed up against the gravel.
Villain leaned down once more; watching their lover’s face brighten in hue, “I’ll take you right here, darling.” Their hips weighed down to the back of the city’s favourite protector.
“Aahhh… no..” Hero had become a little bit of a mess and wasn’t in their usual state of mind. That much Villain could recognize. Hero attempted with pathetic intent to free themselves but Villain was already over it. The heavy breathing, the moaning it was getting too obvious.
“What do you want, then? Look at you, Hero. I’ve already bitten you in every area an onlooker could spot.” Their eyes widened with curiousity and grabbed onto Hero’s hips encouraging them to continue their desperate pursuit to pleasure. “Is that what you want? You want people to know that you’re a slut for me? Huh?” They chuckled heavily and bit onto the crest of their ear. Hero moaned again and it brought a satisfying smile to the criminal’s eyes.
After a moment Villain let out their classic cackle again and Hero could only whine while blushing in shame. They could sense their enemy’s impatience with each squeeze that travelled up and down their ass to their thigh.
Villain was desperate like that and their dominance was one of their biggest traits.
Maybe lust was all they were after. Nonetheless, it didn’t stop Hero from also taking the invitation and excitedly responding to their constant groping with another audacious grind of their hips.
“What’s this?” Villain pulled them closer and crawled a single hand up to their nipples which were drawn out from the tight clothes. “Are you sure you want to do this here?”
“Villain…” they panted, “please Villain!~ I can’t take it anymore…”
“Aren’t you overt? This isn’t very heroic of you.”
“Uhnnn… please..”
“Please what?”
Hero had enough with the teasing and their counterpart could tell it had made them agitated. In their attempt to use their body against their nemesis Villain found themselves in a situation that left them irreversibly needy as well. All Villain could hear was the resounding thoughts of tainted ideas on how to solve their lust right there and then.
Hero hadn’t responded to their question yet.
“Fuck Hero,” the tension in their groin was not one to be taken lightly, Villain wasn’t this easy to suppress for long periods of time. “if you’re gonna make it this hard I might actually just do it”
“Mmm..!~” Hero kept their eyes shut and tried facing away from their rival.
It was growing darker outside. The sounds of the city were fading and somewhere in the distance Villain could hear the reinforcement returning to the area. They’d have to be quick in either getting their hands all over Hero or leaving the scene.
One option was clearly more difficult to implement right then. For Villain that meant putting aside their selfishness.
They cussed themselves inwardly and with narrowed eyes, they pushed the bulge in their pants away from their ass. “Fuck!”
Hero was getting better at rejecting any advancements with only limited time on their hands. There were times when this operation could be easily performed and Villain would reward their love greatly.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the case this time.
Villain grabbed their weapon and carried their weight back up. They stared at the tired Hero who laid on the ground. Their suit was messily fixed by them even though nothing truly happened.
“You’ve grown confident, Hero… and aggravating.” They sternly mumbled the second part.
A distressed part of Villain worried that Hero had lost interest in their pursuits or was pulling an act all along. Though that would have to be a well done act if they were able to go through with it a few times in the past.
Either way, it didn’t deter Villain from trying again next time. And when they did, they wouldn’t wait.

tw: violence, murder & gore
we need more insane characters, let’s be fr. and not insane in the “omg i love you sm i’ll kill anyone and everyone for you 😍😍” yandere way.
no, i mean in the bloodthirsty, violent, snarky kind of way. the way that has them soaked in blood, from head to toe, but they only click their tongue in annoyance as they swipe some of that red off their cheek and grind their boot into the crushed skull of one of their victims.
that kind of way that has them laughing raucously at the brazenness, the naivety, the foolishness of the people that dare to face them—before their face sobers in an instant, and suddenly, they’re hacking limbs off with a broadsword, and snarling as they brutally mutilate their victims’ bodies.
but they’re not stupid. instead, they’re quite smart. they just don’t care. they have no inhibitions. they kill because it pleases them to. they’re careful, calculated—but also egotistical and unpredictable.
they’ll ruin you.
wouldn’t that just be so nice?

A Writeblr Introduction
I'm new to these parts so I figure I might as well introduced myself as seems to be customary from my understanding.
You can call me Luchador Bard. A wandering enjoyer and creator of stories of the written word. I'm a big fan of Pro-wrestling, TTRPGS, Video games, Sci-fi, fantasy and speculative fiction at large.
I'm currently aspiring to be formally published in some form or another some day! Until then, hope you enjoy the journey as much as I do.
I've got a few short stories involving my various OC's (Both from own settings and fan fiction work) Here are some short story examples.
A D&D villain of mine's backstory
My Jedi Consular from SWTOR
I hope to further hone my craft, improve as a writer and meet some fellow writers who share this crazy hobby of mine.
Nice to meet you all.

He was in hell, and hell was full of glitter. Only the brown roses stuffed into the eye sockets of the gleaming skulls at the corners of the table provided any relief from the nauseating refraction of light.
Just giving my character my vision disorder, don't mind me.

Been working on a hurt/comfort BeaRaph one shot but have restarted and rewritten and reckoned an almost finish piece because of it tackling mentions and portrays of her mental health.
And I don’t know what i’m doing with it because I don’t have a clear consensus of what her mental health is like. Even though I discussed in the comments it didn’t feel right? i’m not sure how to word it- it reckoned pre established Bea. It felt to much? I apologize if the wording comes off weird and rude that is not my intention.
With my plans to redesign her which turned into rebuild her character, it’s a struggle. Because I really want to tackle things like mental health in my writing hopefully. I want my blog in general to be a safe space for people’s mental health.
Dissociation was very present in the set up of the one-shot. But as I don’t have a clear consensus and because most importantly Beatrice is my self-insert and I am (as far as I know of as I have never seen a doctor about any diagnosis) a neurotypical person. As much as I do not a perfect mental health and do have my own issues it doesn’t feel right giving a character who’s me- something I don’t have.
I want advice on this situation, whether to turn this oneshot into just fluffso I can focus on getting a grasp on Beatrice’s character change and mental health, go down a different route with the hurt/comfort, or attempt the original idea and when I have her and her mental health fleshed out go back and rewrite it?

Elsa's 'Diabetes Is Expensive' Writing Commissions
Hi there!
I'm Elsa. If the title of this post didn't make it obvious enough, I have diabetes and it's expensive, and my insurance is doing the bare minimum to make it less expensive.
I've been informed that I'm a fairly good writer, and I've done writing commissions in the past, so I figure I may as well see if it helps!
PRICING:
$0.03 per word.
So, 500 words would be $15.
You give me a ballpark of the length you want. So, if you're willing to spend between $20 and $25, the story will be between 666 and 833 words.
I'll round down to the nearest $0.10. So if the finished product is 526 words, I'll report it as being $15.70, rather than $15.78.
I take payments through Paypal or Venmo.
GUIDELINES:
500-word minimum
You don't need to supply a full outline, but you do need to have some idea of what you want to happen in the story. The longer the story, the more detail I'll need. If you just want, like, 500 words, then 'X and Y cuddling' will suffice, but if you want 5,000 words, I'll need more to go off of than that.
I will write about your OCs, as long as you can provide info on them.
I will write fanfic, as long as I know the source material well enough (list provided below).
I will write smut, just double-check any kinks you want first. (I won't write any involving bodily fluids or feet, sorry.)
If I'm super uncomfy with the subject matter, I'll turn down the commission, if only because it would be a really badly written end product.
You can check my writeblr tag, my (very tiny) ghostwriting portfolio, or my AO3 account for examples of my writing.

Something that bugs me about a lot of writing advice is the assumption that writing is linear and therefore a writer’s skill will improve and improve and improve.
This is not true.
There are days when the words don’t come, when the “great writing tip” that saved a previous work becomes claustrophobic in a current work, when everything seems more difficult than it used to even though nothing on the outside has changed.
Yes, some of this is higher expectations as we improve or try more ambitious works.
And some of it is just being a writer who, like everyone else, has good days and bad days.
It’s okay.
Writing is an art.
And art isn’t linear.

Ideas I'm never going to make
So, I have a lot of ideas I am never going to write because they're not my style. So, instead of never talking about them, I'll leave them here to maybe give some inspiration to others. Most of these ideas are 1-5 years old with a handful being over ten years old and I would love to see them written, I just have no drive to write them.
Don't know how often I'll do this, but don't worry I get a ton of ideas that never go anywhere, so I'm sure there will be more!
Onto the ideas:
A dystopia where only two people actually exist, like actually. The planet and everything on it is destroyed and by the end, it's revealed the other party caused this to happen so they could be alone with the other survivor (romantic or platonic).
A passionate romance where the two parties are dangerously obsessed with each other. It starts where only one party seems dangerous, but is revealed later on they both are. Knowing this is bad, they decide to embrace those feelings for a short time to hopefully get it out of their system.
Two enemies end up stranded together. The injured party is cautious when the healthy is trying to help them. It's revealed later that their bosses were conspiring together to kill the pair.
A mature magical girl. It's still your normal Sailor Moon, but the MC is an adult with children. Specific to what I outlined, her husband was kidnapped because of his research and she gains magical powers to go and save him.
The origin story of a pirate girl. She starts off apart of a fairly kind crew, but she wants to make a name for herself and leaves only to find a mythical being of some kind and be cursed to travel with them. In my case, it was a grim reaper.
A vampire and a vampire hunter who end up on bad (putting it lightly) terms after the hunter assumes the vampire killed their newborn child. Plot twist for me was it was actually the hunter's father and the vampire had to find a way to prove it.
A detective agency that is the center of mysterious murders. Their agency is accused of killing their detainees as anyone who goes in never comes out. Is the killer one of the detectives or is the killer just trying to frame them? The setting for me ended up where the whole group was trapped in the police department like Resident Evil 2 almost.
This one is about to be ten years old and has more detail than the others. Two kids (in about the Gothic Era) go to a toy maker's shop. This is to pick up a toy before their families embark on a long trip somewhere. The toy maker is a mysterious man, but one of his toys end up cursing the children to age backwards. In this reality, objects hold memories so they're told by the toy maker to find objects that have sentimental value as that will maintain their age until they can rid of the curse.
The tale of a sun deity and moon deity creating the sun and moon cycle. The moon was a shy anxious child and the sun was a bright cheerful child for me.
An unassuming tale of a newly wed prince and princess where the story begins as "normal" until night falls and the prince is unable to stay awake. His princess then undergoes her own form of unconsciousness where her daytime "Princess Peach" version is switched for a warrior "Biscuit Krueger" version. Who is duty bound to protect her sleeping beauty. This transformation is similar to Greed and Ling from FMA:B where there's two souls inhabiting one body.
I actually had way more than I thought, so I'm gonna cap it at ten -_-;
Thanks for reading and here's to hoping one day I can read these ideas in their entirety~ 🍂

Remember Last Night
Hero stretched out their tired limbs after the sound of a passing garbage truck woke them up. Their eyes adjusted to the light rays melting into the room and a stir of their blankets around them was met with an unexpected guest. Beside them in bed laid a stranger. Their back was turned and they breathed quietly, almost too subtly for them to notice had they not felt the sheets move.
Hero shot up and looked around lost in thought, they didn’t recall having ever brought anyone home or even being bold enough to think about it. Yet, this stranger seemed oddly familiar. Their eyebrows raised as they took a closer second look at the features of an upturned jawline and a mess of hair that reminded them of… Villain.
But that couldn’t be right, could it? Their head pondered on what exactly occurred the night before and immediately a hand rose to their exposed chest. A heavy blush formed around their cheeks and at last, Hero picked up on the severity of their situation.
As calmly as they could, Hero stepped out of bed, painfully wincing at the sound of low creaking from the bed and the floorboards beneath them. They quickly hopped around on their toes in search for whatever remnants of clothes they could find.
Some were sprawled up against the lamp or on the couch, while others were tossed on higher locations, but nonetheless their eyes remained focused on tending to themselves.
Hero forced their attention away from Villain to stop the creeping sense of unbearable guilty attraction. The urge to take a glance to double-check it was all real, but they knew that was an excuse to deliberately satisfy their hunger to simply stare with awe.
With sore hips and an empty memory, Hero decided it was best to leave for about an hour or two before Villain woke up. That way they didn’t have to confront them and even more so they would leave on their own. Never to mention any of this again and hopefully forget one day.
But, the universe seemed to have planned something else for them. As Hero search for their keys the loud yawn of the other waking up caught them off guard. Their body stilled and turned to look at Villain rise from bed, their eyes meeting in a silent conversation which led to an awkward discussion.
“Good morning…” Hero shyly spoke, still risking if they should go.
Villain rubbed their eyes and let their thoughts wander for a bit before replying the same back to them.
Well, there was no way out of this now. They would have to put up with whatever they were given and pray for a change of heart. If Villain didn’t already hate them that is, otherwise they’d be doomed.
With little left to hide, Villain casually stood from the bed. Hero frantically turned around to face away from what they knew would have stopped their heart right then and there.
The sound of Villain’s footsteps entering the bathroom was what finally put them at ease and let out a breath. “How could I do this to myself?” They whispered with a hint of confusion. No matter how hard they tried to recollect any details of last night, nothing came about. They wondered if Villain’s natural reaction without any panic meant that they knew what was going on. If so, they’d need to get the information out of them without looking totally lost.
Hero wasn’t sure if they were going to be used or fed false memories so it was best to seem collected. For now, all Hero knew was that they definitely weren’t getting drunk last night because they weren’t currently experiencing any hangovers. It didn’t mean it was any better though because it meant that when they chose to share the same bed with their enemy, they were in fact, fully aware and present in making their decisions.
They sat at the kitchen table after preparing breakfast. Their eyes hiding their own distress.
Villain had finally exited from the bathroom and strode into the kitchen, still seemingly acting normal.
“Oh, what’s this?” They sat down and stared at the meal in front of them, “you’ve decided to make breakfast for a change?” They laughed and picked up a spoon.
Change? Was this a ritual that they did often or… they never made breakfast for more than one person before so this would be their first time.
With the way their nemesis was acting though, it made it seem like they were giving them a hint at what the entire picture may be. Though this wasn’t the sort of hint Hero was looking for.
With their brows furrowed, and still trying to connect the dots, Hero took a look around the home.
It looked like their house and the layout was all the same, but there were a few parts to it they couldn’t recognize. Whatever it was, they were sure to figure it all out by the time they got just the slightest of clues.
Ideally, they would’ve preferred if Villain would just hurry up and tell them what sort of witchcraft they might’ve used to get Hero to climb into bed with them so easily, but this was reality. And Villain was known for their strange mind games as a favourite tactic.
They ate silently, Hero catching the easy stance of their enemy but they didn’t even bother to pass them a skeptical look. They looked almost too comfortable with being around Hero, like they’ve done this one too many times.
Their head turned to face the clock, it was noon.
Villain stood up and thanked them for the breakfast, “I’m gonna be back by 10 tonight. I’ll probably call a little before that.” They watched Villain set their dishes into the sink and take a glass of water before continuing, “So don’t bother waiting for me.”
“Oh.”
Their clouded gaze met Villain’s again. Were they missing something? It felt like there was a part of Hero that had went on a vacation and left them in their place. The growing unfamiliarity made them worried. How could Villain act so nonchalantly?
The other had finally caught on to their expression and tapped a finger to the counter slowly deciphering their face. “What’s wrong?”
Everything, or that’s what they wanted to say, but how would that turn out?
Villain noticed their extended silence and walked their way, they pushed a chair close and leaned over. Hero flinched the second their forehead met. A reaction that apparently didn’t sit well with Villain at all. “Does your head still hurt?”
They licked their lips and shook their head. Hero didn’t know if they ever notified Villain of any of their health or wellbeing if anything it would be stupid to do just that.
“I’m not…” they trailed off.
“Hero, you don’t look too happy. What’s the matter?” They pushed.
It wasn’t going to help them to keep quiet any longer, so they figured they might as well give in with all the concern they’ve received. “I can’t… remember last night.” They murmured feeling the warmth spread across their face already. Their longtime enemy however didn’t mirror that response and it made them anxious all over again.
“What do you mean?” They asked.
Hero swallowed and looked for a better way to clarify, but there really wasn’t any other way to put it. “I just can’t remember.”
“What about the medicine I gave you? Did your headache at least go away?”
“What headache?” With the way the conversation kept continuing Hero was slowly becoming convinced that it wasn’t just last night they were forgetting.
Villain leaned back into their chair and watched the scene unfold in front of them, “Do you at least remember our anniversary, honey?” They gave them an opportunity to let the question sink in, but to Villain’s surprise Hero turn to them with an unusual response.
“What anniversary?”

Whether it was a broomstick, a flagpole, or a mop--Instincts of training and fighting returned instantly. Mipha felt a piece of her spirit return when Kolla, the Rito guard, presented a beautifully carved spear.
"You're sure about this?" He asked, hesitantly letting go. Mipha took a step back, her hands sliding into place. One close to the colorful feathers and blade, the other to the blunt end of the weapon.
She twirled it and lunged--Kolla's feathers swaying in the sharp jab--and his shoulders were immediately relieved.
"I see. You should take this, then." He passed her a smaller knife and belt to attach. "Just in case."
He looked back at Urbosa, already prepared with her Gerudo weapons, sword, and shield in their glory.
Set for the weather and enemies, the guard took to the sky, guiding Mipha and Urbosa as they traveled on foot over bridges and rocky roads.
Then, Mipha looked up at Urbosa, one thought present in her mind.
"You chose me to accompany you."
"I did. Does that surprise you?"
"I thought you would ask me to stay behind. After all, I have no Zora weapons. My trident has broken, my healing abilities are absent still. What can I contribute?"
Mipha watched Urbosa's eyebrows knit together.
"You are still a renowned fighter, with or without a trident. And your healing, well...Speaking from my own experience, it takes time, Mipha. Yes, the days are short and nights shorter, but time passes regardless of our actions. You may as well refocus your energy until that muscle is strong enough to return to you."
Urbosa hummed after her words fell and sank into Mipha. The Zora Princess took a deep breath and held her spear tighter. "Right. I just need to..."
"Dodge!"
Kolla shouted from above, bowstring already pulled taut and an arrow docked. The cold wind cut  Mipha's cheek, and something shrieked from the snow beside her. A white Lizalfos scrambled out from its hiding place, scuttling with its metal weapon as its eyes swiveled in circles.
Mipha aimed her spear forward, scanning the snowbanks. Urbosa spun around the other way.
When it came to Lizalfos, there was always more than one. At the leap and shriek of the monsters, lumps in the snow broke free; Ice-made chuchus rolled out with hazardous frost, daring anyone to risk contact.
"Hey! This way, hurry!"
Mipha jumped over a swinging branch, lunging for one last attack, while Urbosa swung high, keeping the monsters away enough for them to run. Kolla flew much faster, rising and falling above snow clouds to guide the way; Mipha took a deep breath, following his scent as the clouds began to smother and disguise.
The makeshift camp was overrun with chaos; Mipha swooped low as a dead Keese went flying over her head and barreled into the snow; Sharp stakes were tied together to keep intruders at bay; Peculiar skulls were rattling on the stakes, cackling in death at the wounded and irritated. In one corner, makeshift beds held Rito tending to their frostbitten feathers or sliced skin. Mipha's heart tightened, but she kept her focus on Kolla.
He whipped his head around, darting to rushing soldiers and the overworked, underwhelmed, and understaffed environment.
Urbosa stepped forward, sheathing her swords. "This place is in chaos. Who is in charge here?"
"...Revali." Kolla winced.
"Ah. I see." Urbosa pursed her lips together. "Who is next to lead, then?"
Another voice snapped out from behind Mipha; A wounded Rito leaned over the bedside, nursing his side with a cloth pressed tightly to the skin. "Kolla. The young ones were fighting the Lynel at South Summit; Nngn…You will have to be the one to make the next move."
Kolla's feathers poofed up for a moment. "Me?" He glanced at Urbosa's expectant look. "Ugh…I guess so. I apologize, I thought our time would be brief. Here's the rundown, then."
He pointed towards the north gate. "We are the last defense before Rito Village. Revali has taken the unharmed soldiers to the summit, but we are running low on supplies, and there is not enough to tend to the wounded. You get the idea?"
Urbosa nodded. "Of course. However, Revali is the key to your Divine Beast. If Revali and Zelda can work together, I am certain that machine will be the key to stopping this monster problem."
"Right. Revali will not come back so easily. He is stubborn, especially so this time around. For what reason or another, I wish I knew. If you can carry your weight in battle, you can follow the soldiers to Hebra South Summit."
As they spoke, Mipha glanced around the camp; many soldiers were already wounded and unattended. She broke from Urbosa and Kolla to the elder Rito at the nearest bed. Something inside switched, and all sounds became background noise; She rummaged through boxes and bags, arms piled up with tools and cloth.
"What's your name?" She asked the man.
He lifted his head, dense clouds evaporating with each breath. "Kaneli."
Mipha opened a pot lid; An earthy smell, like plaster, wafted up immediately. A smaller jar was filled with honey-colored oil. Perfect.
"I am Mipha, from Zora's Domain. I can help heal you, if you'd let me."
Kaneli chuckled and looked down at his wound. "Do what you can, Miss Mipha."
Mipha pulled over a chair with her foot and sat down. Her hands worked faster than her brain; all thoughts focused on tending to the spear wound in Kaneli's side. She barely heard Urbosa's voice as she laughed at something.
"-I am not the Chief of the Gerudo for my looks. Let's go, Princess Zelda is waiting. Mipha. Mipha?"
Mipha hummed as she cleaned the wound, bent over, and focused intensely. "I shall take care of the soldiers here. That much I can manage."
It wasn't ideal, but magic nor energy sang for Mipha; Luckily, she had specifically chosen to study under the healers in the domain, and tending to such awful wounds was not her first time around. Though when the moment paused, Mipha steadied her hand over the most minor cuts, squeezing her eyes shut and focusing. Come on, come on…
She thought of her baby brother, grinning teeth and tail dragging along the ground. She thought of her father, his bellowing laugh, and the gentle way he could pick up both siblings in one hand. Muzu--his particular morning walks, and Calla--Returned from a sister domain deep underwater.
Zelda's smile flashed across her vision, making her heart beat faster, but no magic returned to her fingertips.
"Huh." Kaneli adjusted his position slowly and leaned to a more comfortable place, gazing down at his wound. "It looks….Better. Not great, obviously. If it looked great, I would be back out there."
"How do you feel?" Mipha blinked away her grief, wiping her hands clean of medicinal honey and oil. "I recommend keeping a keen watch on it; It must require time to heal properly. No more fighting for now, I'm afraid."
"Of course, doctor's orders." Kaneli gave a small smile, his eyes weary and spent. He lifted his wing, the feathers dirtied and wet from melted snow. "You saved my wing, you know. What is your name, again?"
"Mipha Naphela of Zora's Domain." Mipha bowed. "But you can call me Mipha."
Kaneli murmured Mipha's name, nodding. He took a deep breath and leaned back into the pillows under his back. "I'll remember that name."
Mipha filled her arms with the pots and jars, smelling the thick blood around her. Three healers worked tirelessly, but soldiers outnumbered them and the number of cots.
Her eyes landed on a few soldiers crowded around a campfire and readied her worries for the next patient. Her smile and words put their tense shoulders and exhausted eyes at ease.
---
"Hey! Mipha!" Kolla called out.
Dust and snow flew up at Kolla's landing as Mipha set the plaster for a soldier's last shoulder wound.
Her eyes widened as she watched many more Rito land, some stumbling and others brooding. She searched the crowd until bright red hair appeared through the gates.
"Oh, you made it back!" Mipha jumped up and faltered.
A familiar warrior came to a swift landing in the center of the camp, shoveling snow and ice from his feathers. He lifted his head, narrowing his eyes at Urbosa's nonchalant attitude.
The Gerudo Chief walked past Revali to Mipha, giving her a warm smile. "I see you've been busy. Do you have time for one more patient?"
"Oh please," Revali sighed. "I won that battle with not a scar to show for it."
"I was referring to myself." Urbosa peeled back her sleeve to show a bleeding wound. Mipha could hear Revali's beak snap shut.
"Hmph." His eyes landed on Mipha, studying her momentarily and building something to say.
"Champion Revali, it's an honor to meet you. Though these circumstances are not so pleasant."
Mipha was humid with a haunting of embarrassment, but there was no excuse for silly behavior.
"Sunny days in the meadow are not common here." Revali huffed, plucking debris from his feathers. "I had everything under control back there, you know. I only returned to end this business with the princess."
Mipha applied healing salves to Urbosa's arm. "The princess will be thrilled to see you become the next pilot of Vah Medoh."
Revali lifted his beak, smugly nodding towards Rito Village. "I don't blame her for choosing the most uniquely skilled warrior to control that machine."
Mipha snuck the bandages on Urbosa's arm, setting her arm down carefully. She glanced around at the camp, at Kolla speaking with more stable soldiers. It seemed as if things were calmer, steadier.
"Have the monsters subsided?" Mipha asked and waited for Revali to finish his assessment before meeting her eyes.
"For the meantime." Revali trailed off, eyeing Mipha carefully. "You tended to the wounded this whole day? With your healing powers I heard about?"
"Oh, well…" Mipha slowly shook her head. "I made do without it, I cannot rely on magic forever. I used what was around me. Was that a mistake?"
Revali lifted his head, an aura of surprise overtaking him. He quickly snuffed it and shrugged. "I see no corpses, so…I will take your work here…As a good sign."
"...Is that a thank you?"
Revali crossed his arms behind his back, marching away. Urbosa chuckled, finally moving to stand slowly.
"In an irritating sense, yes." Urbosa said. "Now, let's go complete this ceremony before my bones begin to freeze."

The tension on Zelda's shoulders dropped when the pilots and Rito guards were gathered at the foothill, Vah Medoh only several yards away.
She gestured excitedly towards the moving beast. "Ta-da! Isn't this great!"
Mipha grinned, raising a hand over her eyes. Urbosa nodded once, a soft smile on her face.
Revali stepped forward, less enthusiastic and impressed than the others. Zelda spun around and jogged alongside Revali towards the stone feet of the Divine Beast.
"We're making great progress in traveling, don't you agree?" Mipha asked, watching the princess and Rito from afar. Zelda's hands moved around, gesturing towards the feet and wings, her hair swaying in the wind.
Urbosa nodded. "Our next stop is no small feat, either. Though I've never been, I can't imagine Death Mountain is a relaxing vacation destination."
Zelda and Revali stopped. Vah Medoh's head froze in its swaying motion. Zelda hesitantly lifted her Sheikah Slate to the humming pedestal. She moved and gestured for Revali to take her place.
"Oh? Boiling lava isn't your style, Urbosa?"
Revali, one hand on his hip, raised his hand to wave over the pedestal, reaching to touch the Sheikah's eye and staring back at him.
Mipha could not hear what had been said, only saw Zelda speak and smile as she watched Revali. Maybe she was saying, "Take your place as the chosen Pilot of Vah Medoh, Revali of the Rito."
Urbosa chuckled. "No, I can't say I like my skin melted off my bones. I have heard that even the air is unbearable--You can simply burst into flames at the summit."
A voracious groaning rumbled the hill. Orange blood ran through Medoh's veins, and her hollow eye became furious with red. Zelda and Revali stumbled back, and Mipha felt her heart shatter at the unknown sight.
"What's going on?!" Urbosa lunged forward to catch her footing and ran towards Zelda without waiting for an answer. Mipha watched as a shimmering red shield protected Medoh from intruders; Trespassers.
"It's rogue!" Somebody shouted, and spears were drawn. Bows docked and ready to fire.
"There must be a mistake!" Mipha's words were drowned out by Rito flown to the skies; Medoh's ancient wings unfurled, talons releasing chunks of earth as she lifted. A boulder of rock teetered then tumbled--Revali pushed Zelda to Urbosa's side as it slammed into the dirt, and loose soil and pebbles flew.
"Not on my watch!" Revali announced and dropped to a stance; his wings hit the ground in one swoop; A gust of wind shot Revali into the heavens at breakneck speed.
As Mipha shielded her vision, her eyes landed on Revali's quill of arrows and made a mental note to prepare for deafening sounds.
"Urbosa! Zelda!" She called out as Urbosa urgently escorted Zelda away from harm. Zelda's head was angled upwards, frozen at Vah Medoh, shaking side to side.
"I don't understand…Urbosa…?" Zelda trailed off. "It--It rejected him."
Urbosa was silent, watching with furrowed eyebrows. Mipha looked at both of them, wishing she had an answer, a prophetic explanation. Vah Medoh was protected by a barrier of shimmering red waves reflected from the sun as it rippled down the body. She had angled her canons, her weaponry, aimed with no intention of firing (yet).
Mipha ran the scenario through her head thrice over. "It was calibrated--"
"Activated…" Zelda followed the bird with her eyes.
"You had it activated before we arrived, so it couldn't have been a mistake on your end. You approached Vah Medoh with Revali…"
"I asked him to place his hand on the pedestal. I recited the Champions' Ballad ... .And Vah Medoh did not accept."
Revali fired bomb arrows at Vah Medoh's barrier, unrelenting. Mipha lost count after seven times.
Vah Medoh turned her canons, and a thin line pierced the daylight sky.
"I have picked the wrong Champion…" Zelda whispered, her fist clenched tight around the brooch of her coat.
