Downfall has only just started, but already I'm deeply curious what Bells Hells reaction will be to seeing it play out. I've mentioned before that I suspect the dislike or outright disdain some of the party feels for the gods - most notably Ashton and Laudna, but also Imogen at times - is in part a product of the gods being so distant as to not feel like real people to them, and therefore being easy scapegoats.

It’s easy to see the mortal victims of Ludinus and the Vanguard as just that: victims. The Hells have met them, have been them. They have not seen or felt the gods suffer in the same way. Laudna even went so far as to blame the gods for mortal deaths and suffering after the solstice, even as the gods are the ones under attack. They feel uniquely abandoned by the world, and it's easy to blame these distant, powerful figures for their hardship. Certainly much easier than to see the mortal systems that enabled their harm, or to actively seek improvement on their own.

But to see the gods now, not just as people but as mortals, with all the flaws and vulnerabilities and fears of any of the Hells, with loved ones of their own and the same desperate sense of self-preservation as any living thing, will they be able to hold onto the disdain that they’ve clung to for so long?

Sunny weather calls for quiet morings at the beach reading with friends. The Garden of the Finzi-Continis is inspiring me to go out more and organise meet-ups with friends.

I know narratively-speaking it'd be lame, but I also think it would've been very funny if Izutsumi walked into that changeling circle and came out a normal tallman, experienced life as what she's been pining for all her life, and realized it sucked absolute ass.

Izutsumi spends the entire time losing her mind over the fact that her hearing is terrible, she can't smell anything, she has no claws, and her balance is like ten times worse??? Laios very vehemently agrees with her, and they actually bond over this. Everyone else is Very Tired but Very Used to it.

Izutsumi, realizing she wanted to stay as a beast-man, cleans up that personal dilemma, and TRIPLES in cattitude. It's not just instinctual anymore- girl is genuinely being a little shit about it to irritate her companions because she's seventeen and she likes them enough to keep going because, like, what else does she have going on rn? Tade will be there when she's done, and she's surrounded by people who hate her ass specifically, so it'll cause less stress overall to avoid them after breaking that seal on her throat.

Room allocation are decided by students' wishes. If there are many applicants for the same room it's decided by merits or duels

1st floor is the lounge and manager's office

2-3rd floor is for 1st years

4-5th floor is for 2nd years

6-7th floor is for 3rd years

4th floor rooms: 401 (Malcolm), 404 (Levis), 406 (Galuf), 407 (Kenny), training room

Unlike Easton, there's an option to either commute to school or stay in dorm

Cleaning staffs are always present and students can change the interior to their wishes

many students are picky eaters so they are able to cook

Headcanons

Domina wasn't listed so I'm assuming he's commuting from InnoZero base to Walkis and after the final battle he signed up to dorm life

Students getting better rewards based on what they can do is entwined in the culture so deeply that the Easton students was shocked at how (perceived) corrupt the academy is

medical suppliers make a fortune since students are injured all the time

there's a garden somewhere dedicated to growing the weirdest stuff for the most eccentric students that got taken over by levis when he joined. it's a good way to make connections with weirdos who can't be bought with money and keep a leash over the students who need a specific food

malcolm is his official soil manager/fertilizer supplier (remains of fishes he caught and bugs) since he's strong enough to not let the other walkis students scam him out of a deal. in return he can freely use the garden and see which plants/bugs makes the best meal for his insects

galuf sometimes come by and namedrop levis to get hands-on experience with the herbs they grew there

domina tried to get an apple tree planted to which levis declined since apples aren't special enough to merit a lot. domina got his tree after one ass-kicking duel, but he couldn't be bothered to maintain it so the fruit ended up on the bitter side. levis swindled favors out of him in exchange for managing the apple tree, cackling all the way from his hospital bed.

charles, being the strongest 3rd year, would be allowed to not attend lecture if he keep up his grades and beat other students in duel. he spends most of his time drawing his mom before going to see the real thing
