I'm not sure whether KJ Parker is a good writer. However, he writes about divinity in a way that I---the bane of Catholic high school Theology teachers, someone who read Aquinas and Augustine specifically to prove said teachers wrong and then became a lawyer for mysterious reasons definitely unrelated to this---recognize intimately. So he gets a pass.

heyyyy so my lore drop is i got to work on a bway show this season so i like really do have opinions ngl. here are some & i apologize if you do not get all ‘em

the missing best actress nom shouldn’t go to helen j. shen, bless her heart. it belongs to natasha hodgson, who plays monty in operation mincemeat. that performance of an entitled man done by a woman, while still giving his satirical character nuance, is obscenely impressive. and it’s insane no one’s said this.

death becomes her should not be nominated for best musical, let alone best book. christ, of all things. it’s based off a meryl streep movie it didn’t reinvent the wheel. i genuinely think it was only nominated because megan hilty and jennifer simard are really fantastic comedic actresses in this and broadway just loves divas. i think the testament to DBH’s entire success is solely those two women (who. absolutely deserve their individual noms) and idk if that should earn the show as a whole a tony nom. cause the actual content is like? not incredible.

everyone should see buena vista social club, because i’m so sure no one here fucking has… the most genuine musical on bway right now besides maybe happy ending and real women have curves (sorry u didn’t make the cut girl but… it was a fair cut. bvsc got you beat.)

dead outlaw is too adjacent in concept to both operation mincemeat (dead body) and floyd collins (old timey southern man dies) and both the other shows do it just a little more streamlined. which is tough bc dead outlaw is good, it just doesn’t shine for me? and the sad thing is it would’ve in any other season. the concept was more fire than the execution unfortunately. also andrew durand literally says and does nothing the entire second half and got a best actor nom, which…. do we not all think that’s kind of odd, god bless?

floyd collins is the best acting performance of jeremy jordan’s career, tony nom was well-earned. it’s nice to see him genuinely act fr. also that rock/cave climbing sequence was so fire

did anyone see just in time. should jon groff have that nom or is it more honorary and for kicks. like im sure he’s good but is it an actual stand out do ykwim.

julio monge (bvsc) deserves a featured actor in a musical nom too if the only requirements are comedic scene stealer. because, um…. looks like they are. and he’s perfect as compay segundo

^on that same note he’d take jeb brown’s place (dead outlaw), because jeb brown should’ve been put up for best actor. he does as much if not more work than andrew durand and carries quite literally the entire narrative of the show. as the narrator.

what was so special abt DBH’s scenic design besides a pretty staircase. tell me. quickly. the climactic scene in the second act was Entirely empty and dark. what

as an american who saw operation mincemeat in london during its second week of previews…. they have done amazing work to revise and perfect it to come to the states. every american that does not think this show is good i kind of do think is just wrong. i know when it needed improvement and this is a fantastic final product. smh

people were like bummed that smash didn’t get nominated and i have to laugh. it’s just very. regular

"A little bit of relief at the end to get back into the points, for a while we dropped out. For a few reasons, we had a - I got told we had a 5s penalty for a jumped start but I know I didn't jump the lights, so I was a bit confused. I questioned it but then I remembered that when I was finding the revs for the start, when I was watching the lights, I felt like maybe the car was moving, but Pierre said we had a bit of an issue.

That obviously was a back step, but then when we pitted for an inters, we left a few positions. The race was kind of getting away from us, but then as it dried towards the end, we were able to pick our way through a few cars. Happy then to finish with 4 points. It was never going to be perfect because these conditions are so hard to get right. We'll obviously try to keep cleaning it up, but in general, for a race like that, we walked away with some points. A good weekend from start to finish - I won't complain!

It's been good. I feel like these weekends are sometimes are the hardest when you lack the momentum - you know we had all conditions this weekend. So it was nice to keep it on track, keep it steady, keep it smooth. Yeah, we needed it. Of course, I needed it. So yeah, I won't say anything else to the others, but that's good. We'll keep it quiet, but I'm happy"

James Milner opens up on nine-month absence: ‘I didn’t know if I could walk properly again’

James Milner has opened up over the freak knee surgery complication that left him unable to move his foot for months and fearing he would not walk normally, let alone return to football.

However, Milner was more keen to reflect on the journey he has taken since being forced off at Arsenal last August in the third game of the league season. He needed a knee reconstruction and the idea was for him to return in early December. That was before he sustained nerve damage to a tendon during the procedure.

“I had a contact injury in training before the Arsenal game on my knee,” he said. “It was stable and we gave it a go and my hamstring reacted. I had a knee operation and knee reconstruction, which was fine and I would have been back at the start of December.

“After the operation, I couldn’t lift my foot or my toes,” Milner said. “December 31 was the first time I saw any flicker of life. It [the complication] wasn’t age-related. It was just a bit of bad luck – one in however many thousand.

“There was a chance I might not have come back at all. I didn't know if I could walk normally again, never mind play football. But thankfully the hard work's paid off. And to get on the field today [Sunday] with the boys and see them turn it around in the second half and be a part of that was special.

“I've been on the grass for a good few months now but I just need to be careful with contact. I've just run out of time. If the season was next week I think I would have been fit from now on.

Milner was asked whether any medics had told him he might have to retire. “Nobody said quit the game,” he replied. “There were obviously doubts from some people that I would get back but nobody said quit it. Not many people have had this and with my age it was highly unlikely I would get back. But I think that was one of the things that drove me most.”

Milner turns 40 in January and he is determined to have an impact next season in what would be his 24th in the Premier League. This time out, he became the first player to play in 23 seasons in the competition. He made his debut for Leeds as a 16-year-old at West Ham in November 2002.

“I would like to keep playing,” he said. “I’ve definitely got another year left in me. We’re in talks with the club and quite close so it will be nice to be here and be part of the team and help the boys.”

I think tumblr is better at talking about the severity of Covid than a lot of platforms, but the posts I see on here do a terrible job at highlighting that you can do everything right and *still get it*. And I don't say that to be a pessimist, but because it can be incredibly invalidating for people who have been masking, up-to-date on boosters, etc. and got Covid bc even though we did everything we could, it still feels like our fault that we had it. So if that describes your experiences with Covid I just wanna say I see you, I feel you, and you are not alone
