The three-part story is set after the conclusion of Star Trek: Discovery Season 2. After discovering Michael Burnham’s personal log, Spock begins to unravel the story of Burnham’s journey from orphan to Starfleet officer - and the secret history of the Red Angel as well. But as he confronts the secrets of Burnham’s past, he’ll also have to grapple with his own.

In the two sample pages above, Pike comes to Vulcan to let Spock know his time off the Enterprise is almost up and that Spock must return soon. He adds he’d let Spock’s seat open for as long as he needed but that it wasn’t up to Pike. When they beam up, Number One compliments Spock’s beard. :)
