Sorry for the delay y'all! University decided it wanted my attention more so I didn't get to finish my Eyes until today. So, introducing to everyone, EyeAvatar!Ivy Alexandra from @girlwholovesturtles's Craniopagus fic! Main thing that hurt doing this was honestly trying to figure out how to get them both mousey and Eye coded. For those unaware; Craniopagus (which you should go read) places The Mechanisms in The Magnus Archive's space, and most of the cast have some connection to an Entity. Ivy is - obviously - tied to The Eye, to the point she eventually Became an Avatar. She is also a mouse humanoid, which means I spent an insubordinate amount of time researching mice eyes, sobbing over the mouse eyes, getting sucked into several Pinterest rabbit holes for no particular, discernable reason, and then deciding to just wing it based on Craniopagus' description and that alone. It's most likely not 1:1 with Kila/CopperRose's "large, doe like, and entirely black" description thanks to the lighting tricks I had to do, but rest assured without the glows they are pure black with very, very, very dark green for the iris. I tried to do a version as well that was more mid-Becoming, but it honestly lacks compared to the final product lmao- Anyway, I gotta play catch-up now, so after my proper Ivy drop later I will either tackle more Craniopagus characters, draw candlecoo's Toy Soldier, or mess with the third, spoopy idea of that Buried rant I did last night. We'll see. The resident Eye Lady definitely makes no clear promises on swift returns, but will try!

It was just so damn entertaining and also slightly messed up; my favorite type of Time Travel / Alt merging fic. Literally impossible to put down no matter how hard I tried.

Thinking of which medical condition does sukuna's multi-limbed body fits in:

As we all know he attained that multi-limbed body(four arms,four eyes and two mouths)by eating his twin brother in the womb when his mother was starving and was born as this deformed mutated baby. So I tried to diagnose what kinda medical condition it comes under.I always thought it was vanishing twin syndrome but I was wrong,sukuna leans towards all in some kinda degree and I can't put him under just one medical condition.Remind ya I am not treating him like a subject to be studied, nor trying to point out his flaws,I love this man so much that he even made me start this blog out of pure impulse along with one of the @hermitw 's hc/theory about sukuna having DID.I want to do this so I could understand my babygirl and his body further beyond just his deformed bones in the ear and what other further uncomfies he might suffer,which I will cover later.

HERE ARE SOME MEDICAL CONDITIONS I THINK I CAN DIAGNOSE FROM HIS BODY:

Fetus in Fetu (FIF) – "Absorbed Twin" Phenomenon Occurs when one twin is partially absorbed by the other in early fetal development.The absorbed twin’s body parts (limbs, organs, even a face) may remain inside or fused onto the surviving twin.Often results in extra limbs, partial faces, or organs growing within the host twin.

2. Polymelia – Extra Limbs

A rare birth defect where a baby is born with extra arms or legs due to an incomplete twin merging.This Can be caused by genetic mutations or incomplete twin resorption.This is probably why sukuna has two extra arms and well... maybe the rumors might be true, polymelia and fetus in fetu can result in extra genetalia,but one might be underdeveloped,unusable or maybe both functional ones in rare cases.

3. Craniopagus Parasiticus – "Parasitic Head" Condition

This occurs when a twin fails to fully separate but remains attached to the dominant twin’s skull.The absorbed twin may have eyes, nose, mouth, or even partial brain function, though usually nonfunctional.Since it's attached by the skull it could probably explain his deformed bones in his ears. I wonder if the deformed bones sticking out is also due to that fleshy mask taking up space in his face forcing the ear bones to grow out.

4. Epigastric Heteropagus (Belly Mouth / Parasitic Twin Abdomen Fusion)

A rare form of conjoined twinning where the absorbed twin’s mouth or face is fused to the dominant twin’s abdomen.This could explain why sukuna's second mouth is located in his belly rather than an another one on his face like his eyes.

The twin boys we meet in this chapter are both named Jan Marchand (their parents are quite horrid, not differentiating them by name is just one of the awful things done to these boys.) Jan is a German equivalent of "John" and Marchand is French for "merchant," but the name Jan also alludes to their condition... another name for twins fused at the head, craniopagus, twins is "Janiceps or Janus twins usually share one body with one head and two faces." [Source] This is an allusion to a two-faced Roman deity named Janus.

"The site of attachment could be one of eight (thoracopagus, omphalopagus, craniopagus, cephalopagus, parapagus, ischiopagus, pyopagus or rachipagus).

The etiology of heteropagus twinning is yet to be determined but there are 2 dominant theories. The “fission” theory suggests incomplete separation of the embryo while the “fusion” theory proposes coalition of 2 originally distinct parts. The most advanced theory postulates that it occurs due to vascular compromise in utero, leading to death and partial resorption of one of the twins."

We had to memorize a lot of -pagus names for these depending on where they're attached... given Pinoko's backstory involving her being a fetus-in-fetu / deformed parasitic twin (likely due to a lack of understanding of how fetiform teratoma arise in the 70's, although she's not called that in the manga, but "teratoid cystoma")... perhaps if she wasn't so absorbed into her twin's belly, they would have been born omphalopagus!

There's a similar sci-fi aspect to this story as with Pinoko's (re)birth, but despite his moral misgivings against the idea of experimenting with these twins... he got talked into it for a Nobel prize. It's a younger Kuroo... like Pinoko, the excised Jan is being kept alive as a brain, floating in culture medium... but he's to be used as a test subject. No prosthetics or Frankenstein-esque strange science used to create him a body for him to exist as a separate person in...

He's a living brain, fully aware, if unable to see or even hear [so even more limited than Pinoko], but still possessing his memories and feelings and capable of feeling pain, a child's mind held captive, with no way to communicate with anyone. Maddening. He's not even shown to have psychic powers like Pinoko did before she had a body of her own. He'll just be trapped, subjected to experiments, but unable to voice his opinions on anything done to him, unable to communicate with anyone, even his brother, ever again.

His brother waking up, finding his brother's brain, others confirming that's who it was, and immediately killing him was easily understandable in that light. They promised each other to kill the excised brain to spare the twin without a body from being subjected to human experimentation.

Notably, the Vertical translators made a point of having the doctors refer to Jan as "it"... they're not treated as fully human. Pinoko chose to trust Black Jack because he was the first to treat her as human and talk to her, whereas other doctors just saw a lump/tumour/something to be excised and discarded. A lot of fans also seem to disregard Pinoko's whole existence before her "birth," despite her being alive and learning and aware, just severely disabled as she could only hear [speaking only in her mind and manipulating things physically through unnatural means]...

I wonder if Black Jack saw Pinoko as an absolution? Or just wanted to avoid repeating the tragedy of Jan and Jan.

The demons called me to action; we doing some more practice in @candlecoo-sideb-art's art style! I kinda felt bad lying in bed after drawing the Somewhere Else (In Space) AU dudes, and only doing a canon art style emulation for Jonny. It just felt like I was kinda cheating out on my own learning opportunities, and given I need to draw in a no-clear-line style for an assessment... Probs best to practice on the eyes. After posting my Martin versions, its more than likely I'll tackle Craniopagus characters, and leave candlecoo's Toy Soldier for another day. I may cave, we'll see.
