see, the problem with this is nobody can agree what the "middle ground" actually is. for some people a kink like, for example, painplay is the most morally reprehensible, extreme thing there is, whereas for other people it's super vanilla, barely even considered a kink at all. how do you decide who is right? how do you decide which kinks are not too extreme, and which ones are? you could say "well EVERYONE agrees XYZ kink is extreme" but... does everyone? I never even CONSIDERED that feral porn could be considered "extreme" until I saw people clutching their pearls over it for lusthounds, and I've been talking kink with people for ages. is oviposition extreme? is furry porn extreme? I don't know, because no single person seems to agree.

in the end, trying to create a "moderately kinky" space won't work because everyone's idea of "moderately kinky" is different. censorship is a slippery slope, because doubtlessly you will get users demanding the censorship of a kink that you wouldn't consider extreme at all. the best solution remains a robust tagging system, which, from what I've read, lusthounds implemented.

Hello new chow vent!

Came to say: I love the species.

But currently am pretty upset about how things are going.

Site is still in disarray even though it just had maintenance. Seems like everything is more broken than it was when they made the move, which is beyond dumb. Im sorry, but the coder seems to be more on about fixing symp site stuff than Chows. The sucky part is? The coder went on vacation or something irl, but was still fixing symp site stuff? Oh! And pretty sure there was a sale where proceeds went to the coder, but the site is even more broken now than before. Pretty fishy imo.

We STILL don't have foraging or trait items. But myo drops have been more frequent (thankfully). Even if it still seems the SAME people keep getting them, or even winning premade sales etc. Idk... Just seems like they're pumping out a bunch of useless shit (pavo, pyxis, etc) that have 0 use until everything is done... Just to keep people from crying.

And we did just have a suggestion thread about all this. There were some minor updates where they said they were working on things, and what the plan was... But they're also still releasing things no one can do much with until MONTHS down the road (stardrake things are best example).

I just wish there was better transparency.

I also wish people had talked to saunt about the lineage swapping. Saunt even stated it IS OKAY, that the rule was put in plave without them knowing. That they jave okayed plenty of lineage swaps. We still cant swap either because they've been talking about it. Seriously though? If the owner states something was put in place without them being talked to about it, that rule should be invalid period. That's a shitty move to whoever did that. And oko really should not be putting up any kind of "talk about it" kind of thing. Regardless of the status now, if that rule was not EVER THERE according to the owner/creator, than imo, they really do not have a say. It wasn't even supposed to be there in the first place.

Personally, I have never seen any lineage swaps outside of one (Final Girl) which was done by Oko themself. If there is an actual conversation going on between the moderators and Saunt, then they should be more transparent about it.

It really does suck to hear that Symprites has access to the coder more often than Chowlings does. If the coder is so busy as the moderator team claims, then how does Symprites get updates during these supposed "busy" periods.

I was happy to learn that Tanucakes lets you make child characters but sad when I got hyped and told friends to be met with not the most pleasant response. I worry the rest of the server will see it as a red flag but what is wrong with having young ocs as long as they’re sfw you know? 😭 not everyone is a creep just because they have young oc; 18+ isn’t for the species itself but the community…

I didn’t say the mods weren’t unprofessional lmao, and I did read the screenshots. I’m saying it’s cherry-picked bc where’s the screenshot of them giving the initial brief? And as for lying, p sure that’s when gutter said they only spoke to their partner irl instead of the full mod team? The lie being that they didn’t talk to the full mod team? And once again, I DO feel bad for the artists! This was terribly mismanaged and horribly executed, but this doesn’t mean gutter & co did so maliciously?

And once again, what was the point of the call out? It’s not for the benefit of artists, bc again I can see this being an issue going forward. “Oh you’re a GA for Unbleeders? Yeah sorry we don’t like that so we won’t work with you” If you can genuinely say that that won’t happen… well, I’m glad you’re so optimistic.

But yeah, I again would say that this is wildly overblown now, also by you anon. No one has specifically pulled the disabled, etc. card but I read it as rather a “hey we understand your struggle bc we have our own too” bc the artists in question brought their personal situation up. Of course, you can go ahead and read every little negative thing into what mods say, but cmon man, do you REALLY think this was a deliberate, malicious thing they did, and not just plain stupidity/incompetence?

I'll calm down for this bit. There's both a positive and negative side to me seeing Arcane on Netflix that is related to me writing my AU. Let's talk about it

Upside: I feel like i ended up predicting the show! And it played out SO WELL for Arcane and the development of all characters, plots, and dynamics for literally everyone in the show. I feel so amazed that my ideas for my upcoming projects related to CS-BLANK-AU ended up showing up in such a life changing show such as Arcane

Downside: Now that Arcane has released such an amazing piece of media, i feel like i'm stealing my own plans because someone beat me to it. It feels selfish of me to feel this way. Yes the context is different for Arcane and CS-BLANK-AU, Yes they're different in their own ways, but i can't help but feel like i'm stealing and that i was stolen from.

I understand that nobody owns ideas and that people are capable of having the same ideas without ever knowing someone else had the idea. But this had taken a mental toll on me because of the fact that this both proves that my skills (in the context of Art and Writing) and creative thinking are at the very least, good; and that Arcane is amazing in all the ways ineffable to me and has quite literally changed my life. (ESPECIALLY AS SOMEONE WHO DEEPLY RELATES TO JINX.)

The worst part about this is that someone beat me to it. and now that Arcane is published, whatever i have already written for CS-BLANK-AU will end up looking like i just ctrl c + ctrl v'ed it from Arcane. Straight up plagiarism.

A project i've been working on solo since August 2023 will end up looking like a copied version of Arcane. I'm torn because of it.

Don't get me wrong, i still love Arcane with all my heart. i love the artworks, the animation, the storytelling, and the characters. honestly i love everything about it in such a deep level because of everything between the lines in it. But i can't help but feel hurt.

I won, but at what cost?

The one habit i picked up from the old meaner blog helped me detach from the cs community... just right click and save the images of designs i felt fomo for. I saved so many designs that i felt strongly for in the moment. It scratched the itch in my brain enough that i stopped feeling like i wanted my name on all those masterlist entries.

I just like looking at them, sorting them in my file folders like an isolated simulation of toyhouse. And when i stop getting dopamine from them i just delete them, no trade/sell hassle, no worrying about getting what i paid back bc lol i paid nothing to save a png.

I understand somewhat why you wouldn't allow patientia to be resold. if that happened some folks would probably not bother trying out the roulette while others price gouged what they got. I don't agree with it, but to some extent I understand.

however: why tf aren't we allowed to DONATE them?? I've been on the site multiple years and I have too many of these bitches but I see people who have been rolling daily (for as long as I have or longer) with none!! like abuse of the pillow pile is already not allowed, which would cover any folks tryina sell that way

I doubt I'd ever be able to make as many cherubuns as I have patientia, so atm they're just clogging up my inventory. could delete them ig but I feel bad about it, it's like killing them :(

They obviously cant stick to their schedule either. Seeing as the 16th was supposed to have a batch raffle for the community. Yet they made Taiyaki batch instead, of which one was preclaimed/sniped/bribed before the batch was posted. Which wasn't supposed to be happening anymore. Even trying to make a theme that was already taken! Makes me wonder if that's what happened to someone elses chow (they are no longer on the ML and it happened around the time saunt made the "copycat" announcment.) Makes me wonder if saunt is really the one copying (look at bamboo dragon & the other bamboo chow on ML. They are eerily similar). But because they are big and popular, they can get away with all this B.S.

Community really needs to start calling out the staff and saunt on this crap more often. It's getting super old. They keep introducing new crap (with no use still), but still haven't even gotten traits done yet.

Not only did they miss the initial date set for the 16th but the date Oko stated as the new one, the 20th, has passed as well. Saunt clearly has scheduling issues.
