how to set goals and actually achieve them ✧⋆⭒˚。⋆
nonbasic tips from a girlie who’s learning to do just that!
1. goal-setting strategies
Start with a vision aka the big picture, but that sounds boring. Think about what you want to achieve. I know it’s hard, but you want to know exactly what you’re striving towards. Think about where you want to be in 6 months, 1 year, or maybe even 6 years.
Write down your goals. Now that you have a vision, write goals (or smaller steps) that cater to your larger vision.
Are your goals specific? Are they detailed enough for you to know exactly what you are doing when you’re working towards the goal? For example, “study more” is not a specific-enough goal, but “improving my physics grade from a B to an A” is a clearer goal. The more specific you are about exactly what each goal is, the easier it will be to achieve them.
Are they measurable? Is it clear how you will determine when you have met your goal, or even how you will track your progress? For example, if I say I want to study physics more, there’s no quantification for what “more” means. A more measurable goal might be “I will study physics every day for at least 30 minutes”
Do they align your vision? I really want to finish my CS50P coding class by the end of May, but it won’t align with my goal of improving my academic marks by a letter grade this semester. So, I disregard this goal for now, and I can come back to it once the school year ends. Same with many other goals. Make sure that they are actually relevant to your vision, not just seemingly relevant.
Are they time-bound? Similar to procrastination, your goals will fit in the time frame you give it. Because of this, it is always best to set goals with deadlines. One thing I’m doing this year is improving my timed essay writing for the AP exam. So, my time-bound goal would be “I will complete one essay per week and improve my writing speed before the AP English Language exam in three months.”
2. getting it done
Success really is just a numbers game. How much time you put into your goals is how much progress you’ll see in return. It’s really that simple! Some days you’ll see more progress, and other days you will see a bit less. But every bit of effort adds up, even when it doesn’t feel like it. (those days you see less progress are the reasons why there are those special days with a lot of progress)
Every second poured into your goal counts. It’s really true! No matter where you are, even a few minutes of consistent effort count more than inconsistent huge efforts. As for me towards my goal of improving my grades in certain classes and preparing for the AP exams in May, I found that studying anytime anywhere really helped lessen the burden of having to worry about studying and doing homework. I’ve even looked like a maniac doing homework on the floor of the band room in the times when I’m not playing.
Do everything towards your goal. If it doesn’t align with your goals/vision, don’t do them. It’s much easier said than done, but sometimes you just gotta check yourself when you find yourself working on something that’s not towards the goal you want to achieve.
Don’t think about it too hard. Action beats overthinking every time. Even if certain aspects of your plans change, or something doesn’t go as intended, just start, and the rest will fall into place.
you've got this!! sending all my best wishes <33

Studying for the GMAT exam day 6/150
I'll be going to the library to study again tomorrow, so I also created an action items list that I need to get done. Over the weekend I feel so productive and motivated but then when I get to having to balance work and studying on the weekdays it's hard not to lose that motivation. I feel as though it's a bit easier when I actually have a routine- such as on in person days when I get to work 2 hours early so I can study and then leave 2 hours late so I can study again. I've also been trying to get other parts of myself together including doing tons of skin care and actually setting up a routine every morning that involves skin and hair care, which helps me feel put together even when I'm working from home.
Today was a pretty quiet day, had my tea and went back to the questions I bookmarked before that I got wrong. I bookmark all the questions differently-based on if I got it wrong before, if I struggled, or if I decided it would be best to do it later on (ie. the diagnostic test, since i'd rather start from scratch).
What I got done today:
Re-did everything I bookmarked as I got wrong before
Read a few more chapters with the 'Pumpkin Plan'
Completed a CS50P assignment about APIs/libraries
Found a simpler way to do a task at work that's been bothering me
Binge watched desperate housewives

5 Mistakes Beginners Make When Learning Python
Python is one of the easiest and most beginner-friendly programming languages out there. But many new coders fall into the same traps early on. Let’s help you avoid them.
1. Skipping the Basics
A lot of people jump straight into building AI apps or automation scripts without understanding variables, loops, functions, or data types. This backfires fast when errors pile up.
Fix: Spend your first week mastering the fundamentals.
2. Ignoring Error Messages
Python’s error messages are actually helpful if you read them. Beginners often panic, Google random fixes, and copy-paste code without understanding the problem.
Fix: Read the error carefully. It usually tells you what went wrong and where.
3. Not Practicing Enough
Watching tutorials is fine, but real learning happens when you code. Beginners often binge-watch Python videos but write very little code themselves.
Fix: Follow a 70-30 rule — 70% coding, 30% watching.
4. Jumping Between Resources
Switching from one course to another leads to confusion and a messy knowledge base.
Fix: Pick one beginner-friendly course (like freeCodeCamp or CS50P) and finish it.
5. Building Projects Too Late
Waiting too long to build your first project kills your momentum.
Fix: Start small projects after your second week — like a calculator, quiz game, or to-do list app.
Master these mistakes, and your Python journey will be way smoother.

100 days of code, days 1 - 7 thoughts! ♡
was interested in learning python so i decided to try CS50p after hearing good things about it. this has been fun so far! also challenging, i am very much a beginner. struggled the most with the einstein and tip problem sets mostly because my 0 knowledge of math was confusing me and making it hard for me to understand what i had to do lol<3 i love the feeling of when you've been stuck on a code and then you solve it, it's so addicting<3 i also have very minimal knowledge of c and felt like i was walking into a trap when i saw the semicolons were not required ♡
#posting on here to force myself to stick w the 100 days<3#accidentally stayed up til 6am working on the week 0 problem sets#and that's on hyperfixating<3#100 days of code#coding#programming#python#cs50#cs50p#cyber#aesthetic#studyblr#study#computer science#comp sci#nymph.txt#100 days of productivity

a few minutes ago while on pinterest i had seen a ship dynamics post. intrigued and curious, i looked to the comment section to see if there were characters i could check out that suit the dynamic.
i saw this particular comment—

[image desc: a comment that reads: "Dare I say Atushi as A and Akutagawa as B?" // end id]
—and read it only up to "atushi as a."
my brain immediately interpreted it as "ah yes, we are importing the atushi library with a as its alias," and then moved on.
i kept scrolling for two seconds before stopping and staring.
we did not import the atushi library as a.
i am ashamed

Interesting that my solutions this time are different from my previous ones. Most of them are better, not all lol. 😅
I kinda fell of the wagon with CS50P few months ago and now I started doing it from the beginning again. (I'm currently doing Week 3 if anyone wants to join me :3)

CS50P -Week6- 28.8.2023
PSET 6 - CS50 P-Shirt - done - I wanna say it took me like 2ish hours
*Definitely was struggling with sizing and overlaying an image. Also someone on Discord mentioned that you should use mask parameter in paste operator and half an hour of struggle was solved in a second. Thanks to that person. <3*
