The house was tiny.

Steve took a moment to take in the peeling paint and rusty doorframe (god he didn’t want hepatitis) before knocking as confidently as possible when it felt as if the door might cave in.

The things he did to see his boyfriend more than once a week.

(Steve would remember later that Billy used to live with a father who called him “that damn Jew” whenever they “hung out”. So maybe the new situation wasn’t that bad.)

A man who looked like, despite being eighty, he could still probably take on a bear, opened the door with a suspicious look on his face. He then gave an even more suspicious look at Steve’s footwear.

“Billy’s lad?”

The man spoke with a heavy Irish accent and Steve quickly realised he was speaking to Billy’s grandfather.

He nodded and was then ushered inside, choosing to ignore the grumble of “Americans”, which he could have done without.

Billy was sitting behind the kitchen counter, wearing a soccer uniform and chatting animatedly with an elderly woman. She pinched his cheek and then addressed Steve in the same cadence.

“Will you be wanting any tea love?”

Her voice was like being plunged into a hot bath, but pleasantly so. Steve grabbed a mug, tracing his fingers over the intricate designs. Billy decided to acknowledge him at last by loosely cupping their hands together.

“How’s it been Harrington?”

How had life without Billy been? Steve being stuck in the same old small town while Billy had moved an entire continent away?

Cold. Lonely. A depressing amount of crying.

Steve forced a wafer thin smile to curl up onto his lips.

“Fine. It’s been fine. So how’s Killarney?”

Billy’s face lit up. He loved Ireland, maybe even more than he had California. The only people he’d really missed had been Steve, Max and Eddie Munson (Munson’s Welsh, he gets it).

And Heather.

They didn’t bring up Heather.

Billy’s grandparents seemed to choose to ignore when they left to go upstairs together, only throwing out a “be down for dinner love” at Billy.

Not even Steve’s family cared that little. And yet it was so clear that the O’Connors cared very much.

Billy was fed, clean and healthy. He was in sports, and while he didn’t seem softer exactly, there was a happiness to him that Steve had never really seen before. He’d even began to lose his American accent, vowels mellowing out when he spoke.

They lay under the covers of Billy’s bed, Billy complaining about no decent metal bands coming to an area as rural as this, and Steve reached out. Melted further in his boyfriend’s arms.

Billy huffed out a small laugh and kissed him.

“We’ll be alright Steve. I promise.”

Steve did his best to believe him but already felt like he was being forgotten.

I'm just thinking that Uraume is a great cook, but the real masterpieces are made up of people. I understand that Sukuna will be a little uncomfortable eating people's kebabs (that usually scares teenagers, you know). BUT. The moral mobility of His Evil Majesty's mentality simply says to me: Find the enemy, and the big guy will finally get a nice meal. He worked so hard, he deserves dinner. ("Fu_k, Marry, Eat" game. Start). SO. ONE DAY. People tempura — yes or no? How much Curse is in our King?

Uraume is indeed a great cook, ridiculously even lol

- I mean afaik it's canon that, whilst human meat is supposedly difficult to prepare well, they managed to do it; which is one of the main reasons why Sukuna kept them around aside from the fact that they're a powerful sorcerer lol

(he most probably liked the unaltered taste by itself too (he did in my Series Canon for sure), but Uraume made it additionally enjoyable - so for Mr. I Do What I Want it was definitely a unique plus lol)

As for SIkuna eating people, hmm

Although he's pretty deeply in denial about it, he doesn't actually directly feel anything negative at the prospect

(as showed in Part 4, he actually found the little taste of Yuji's blood he got by accident ridiculously enjoyable, if in terms of Identity Issues and 'Ah Shit That's The Kid's Blood' extremely distressing as well. What a fun combination)

- it's Everything Else around it that makes him uneasy; like the fact that he Knows It's Wrong, The Kids Would Most Freaking Likely Not Like it, and just overall the Character Dissonance he feels about it all

because how the fuck can he be a protective inner marshmallow that would just like to hug the kids, and give them headpats, and heal their wounds, and just overall take care of them as best as he can 🥺

and someone that gets absolutely freaking giddy at the idea and acts of violence and bloodshed (as long as it doesn't involve Some People but especially if it involves Other Ones) at the same time y'know?

As for the two of them... Well, it's quite simple, I believe. They are interesting to each other. Of course, there's the novelty of them being the same person, but it also comes down to very personal needs. Jonah needs answers, and Elias has them. Elias... I do not know what his goals are, exactly, but I assume there's some desire to guide Jonah. To help him – whatever he imagines that to be.

It's only natural that they would be drawn to each other, given their natural curiosity. Besides, Jonah is restless, always chasing something, even when he knows not what he is looking for. Why wouldn't he leave? I cannot expect him to stay in one place – I struggle to even imagine that.

I miss you as well, Barnabas. You could... If you aren't ready to return yet, you could at least come to visit us. I- I wish I could warm you right now. Perhaps I could visit you? Do you think Elias will allow it?

So in Failsafe, actually, the whole Robin romance in the original drafts happened a lot quicker but was also more pushed aside? Like, it was focused mainly on Failsafe and (Y/n) and Robin actually had a PoV for chapter 26 that I’m definitely cutting when the chapter is posted. But like, yeah, (Y/n) and Robin’s relationship wasn’t very well thought out past “let’s have her kiss him at the end of episode 26 harhar” and then I started posting it, thinking about it, and actually writing and getting feedback on the early chapters and then realized that was fucking dumb. So we got some great Robin and (Y/n) moments because my older self realized how bad of a writer my younger self was. And also the readers did too. Good for you guys!

Life update under the cut. Cw illness.

I'd like to start this off with an apology for all the threads and asks I still have to answer. I promise I'm not ignoring or abandoning any of them, but I also can't push myself to answer when I don't have the energy to because I know I will just burn out faster.

Now, onto the actual update. As some of you may know, I've been sick for quite some times now, and it doesn't seem to be getting better. I'm not able to get a doctor to check me out because of family reasons, but I'm hoping that taking it easier than I have will help. I'm doing everything I can to come back full swing, I promise.

What does this mean for my blogs? Well, it means I'm going to go on a semi-hiatus. I'll still be around to answer messages and send in memes, and maybe participate in dash comms, but I will not be posting anything. My queue is paused and I plan to reactivate it after I've finished all emptied my drafts and inbox.

I'll be working on doing so whenever I feel I can, which means you may not see a response to your thread or ask for months, and I deeply apologize for that.

Yeah. Tbf I think all of the abusive father figures in HTB go about it differently from one another, but this is a good video to get the understanding behind some of the behaviours they exhibit. I mean, I know I haven't gone into too much detail about the abuse people like Mark and Cian went through yet, but there will be more about it in Part 6 - especially regarding God, Lucifer, Peter, and John and the way they've behaved/still behave. In fact, there's even a few chapters from Lucifer's POV, so you'll actually get to experience his thought process and why he does what he does. Because he genuinely believes he's justified in doing it.

And then you have Cian, who doesn't become an abuser but who does begin to exhibit traits his abusive dad had and would use on him. And you get to experience his POV of that too, and learn his thought process. (Not saying that I am writing from their POV to try and, like, excuse the behaviour btw. It is absolutely called out for what it is in Cian's case, and in Lucifer's it is presented/shown to be a bad thing that he's doing regardless - it's more about the wild mental gymnastics he is performing to make it out to be a somehow good and justifiable thing he's doing. It's meant to make you uncomfortable and go 'ew, gross'.)

i revisit ur tags on my recent ficpost often (tysm for leaving such glowing feedback 😭 i love how u dissected it and were so specific in what u enjoyed, i smile ear to ear irl everytime i think about it 😫🤧) and i was thinking to myself that you’d totally like a little more of what i’m cooking for this universe! i hope i’m not wrong 😭

i have 9(-10???) ocs i’d like to include into the narrative, four of which are gonna be slot into the scarabia dorm, with the fifth on the nrc staff! three are twisted from the aladdin show series, one is from an aladdin-based game, and the third is twisted from bagheera (the black panther/leopard that helps mowgli in the jungle book!) because i learned that the plot of the jungle book is based in asia, much like aladdin 🎉🥳

the other five are alotted in different dorms! i’ve got an anglerfish (based off the finding nemo one), a mad hatter, a leopard based off the one in tarzan, a wildebeest from the stampede in the lion king, and a mystery boy from the ignihyde dorm!

one of mine from the scarabia bunch is gonna be scorpion-themed, and i have a feeling (based off no real evidence cjdnfnks) that you might be fond of that one in particular 😭 call it my spidey sense cjcjdn

i got major inspo from the hottentola tamulus or indian red scorpions that are found in sri lanka, pakistan, nepal, and india!

they are considered one of the world’s deadliest scorpions with venom very dangerous and sometimes fatal ☺️ i wanted him (and the other three boys) to be antagonist-types to kalim and jamil in terms of dorm-specific yandere infighting lmfaooo;; i think the inclusion of my oc’s will give abstruse’s spin of twst a unique and intriguing flair in comparison to og yan!twst~

my goal with these characters is to give the main cast a run for their money! i’m of the opinion that a lot of the boys will team up with each other, so i think my making of an original third party will create more layered conflict and lore in-verse that the main story writing just lacks imo 😓
