From the corner of his eye, the man’s brow tightens. Lucifer watches shoulders stiffening under a black suit, a red beak pulling into a frown. The imp's eyes remain cemented in the same spot of the table, however, an empty murkiness tredging the edges. Too recognizeable. Too familiar.

one plot hole in the fail dads au is that sonic canonically has at least some sense about family cuz otherwise he would've abandoned tails as well... they may be brothers but sonic adopted him nonetheless

hey there. this is a really good question! i woulndt say its a plot hole tho.... but im going to clarify it with the ancient techinique called "theyre just dumb" you see, when Tails joined Sonic's life, Sonic was a bit confused for why this kid wouldnt move on. He made sense of it thinking that since he's of a different species, maybe he needed someone to take care of him.

i have to say that although i didnt think about everything, the actual hedgehog behaviors backs it up. Lets say that mobian biology is more like ours, but with a spice of the actual animal's.

foxes tend to live with small family groups, so its all making sense to me. BTW according to SCIENCE Sonic is way above average when it comes to raising children.
