Any tips for someone starting a new job? Not exactly my first one, but hey, can't get enough words of wisdom from someone more experienced!

Find yer community. If you want to be able to succeed at a job it's important to find friends within' it; people you can depend on and also help out in return. Say in a few months you're really ill and need coverage? Well hopefully you've made a few friends and one is willing. It also just makes the job less lonely; yer bound to have tough days, and having someone to talk to especially when they can understand on a practical level? Helps out plenty. Don't give up. It'll start tough, maybe even scary, but you've got this kiddo.

And if you do harm, the best thing you can do is ACKNOWLEDGE IT AND DO BETTER. No, you won't be able to fix that broken plate seamlessly, but you can help pick up the pieces, help mend it, help replace it if necessary. "You're right." <-- admitting that you're wrong is not weakness, it's not failure, and it's not a bad thing. It is good and healthy to recognize when you're wrong and be willing to admit it. "It's my fault." <-- not in a self-deprecating way. If you're one of those people that tries to take the blame for things you had no control over or outright didn't do, this post isn't for you. "I'm sorry." <-- MEAN it, motherfucker. "I'll try to do better." <-- Not "I WILL do better." Recognizing you fucked up is important but recognizing you're probably going to fuck up again in the future is also important. NO ONE IS PERFECT. What matters is learning from your mistake and recognizing when you're in the middle of fucking up or about to fuck up and pumping the brakes and saying "oh shit I'm fucking up again, I need to not do that, what do I need to do to stop this" and then STOP so that you CAN DO BETTER.

We all know those people who fuck up and just don't give a shit. Unfortunately this post only applies to people who are aware of others around them and are willing to admit they're in the wrong, so some (many) of those people will flat out deny they need to do better. Fuck them. Fuck them especially if they're making you feel like shit. Do not give someone the tools to hurt you.

But also do not be the tool that hurts someone else.

You're not immune to being the bully btw. You're not immune to being in the wrong

Hi dad!!

So I really really love webcomics and also your blog, and I managed to stumble across a webtoon called Dadvice! that’s really super cool and I wanted to share it with everyone here.

It’s not like other stories with a plot, but instead readers can ask the creator a question and it’ll be answered during an episode!! It’s made by a queer person and talks a lot about queer things and there’s a lot of queer outfits of like masc characters wearing skirts and that kinda stuff and it’s just so good and comforting to read. And the art is amazing! And sometimes there’s ducks!! (And it also talks about a lot of important things in general too, I just got exited about the queer stuff lol).

Liberty (Quarantine edition)

I missed writing, I figured I would go back to it with something cute. I have an exam tomorrow, but I will be writing more afterwards ❤️ To read more from little Peter: dAdvices

- - - - - - - - - - - - - Shawn and his wife were cuddled up on the sofa with the TV on. That was a rare occasion, especially in quarantine, but their son had run the entire day playing and went to sleep earlier than usual, or at least they thought that.

“I kinda missed you, Baby,” Shawn said, smiling and kissing her neck softly while she sipped her tea. “I was talking with Andrew, and I think I will do more spaced out tours from now on, like 2 weeks on the road, 3 weeks home.” He said, catching her attention. “I know these are some very messed up times, but I really like being home, and it’s been so long that I was home for that much at once, I really missed you and Peter. And I... sometimes I feel like I am missing out on him, he is growing up too fast, I know we talk on the phone every day when I am away, but it’s not the same.” He explained.

“I understand, I just don’t want you to think you need to stop living your dream.” She said, being too kind with him, as always.

“I don’t think that... to be honest my dream at the moment is to go to all school rehearsals from music class, and all the art expositions, and to see him swim alone for the first time in the swimming class... I really don’t want to miss the little things anymore, life is just so fragile.” Shawn said, kissing the top of her head and smelling her shampoo. “And there are also the things you want to do, I know we talked before Peter, and I know you are okay with slowing down a bit, but I want for you to have what you are allowing me to have this past 4 years.” He said, knowing she could have had more opportunities but that she allowed him and his career to come first.

“I love you.” She said, grabbing his hand and planting a kiss on it. “And don’t worry, I feel happy, I am still working, I am not travelling around as much for volunteering... but  I can’t complain, I love the projects around the city too. But of course, I would love to have you around more, I am not gonna complain about that.” She said, making him smile.

Their cosy little moment was interrupted by quick, small steps coming from the stairs.

“Peter, you know you are not supposed to run down the stairs” Shawn said as soon as he reached them.

“But Dad, I need you to come up with me, fast.” He said preparing to run up the stairs, but before he could, Shawn was faster and to grab and place him on his shoulders.

“No running the stairs little one, you could get hurt, and we don’t want that.” He explained and started to go up the stairs.

“Okay, sorry, Dad, but go fast.” He said making Shawn look at his wife one more time only to see her smiling at both of them.

“Can mommy come too?” Shawn asked.

“Yes, busy fast, we are losing time.” Peter urged.

Once they were upstairs, Shawn placed him on the ground again, and he started running one more time in the direction of his room.

“Oh my God” Shawn said, worried that he would trip because of how fast he was running.

“Let’s just go, I am sure he will be fine” His wife said, grabbing his hand and directing both to Peter’s room.

When they got there, Peter was looking out okay the window in silence, very focused on something.

“What are you seeing, Pete?” Shawn asked.

“Shhhh.” He said, putting his little finger on his mouth. With the spare hand, he motioned for them to come near the window.

Once the couple came closer, there were 2 butterflies is a hand distance from them. A couple seconds later, they flew away from the window, and Peter whispered:

will try to use the advices dad, thanks, I'll probably not talk to the busy friend bc they get too worried (?), I had an incident before, talked to them, didn't go well. But i feel so weird trying to talk to friends about stuff like that, it's like they know too much (that's why i like anon here so much, it'd probably be easier to talk to them that way)

if anon etc appeals to you, then you might want to look up anonymous chat or text helplines - they might be a help in a pinch or appeal if you don't want to discuss personal stuff with people you know.

there are country specific ones and idk where you are, but the likes of Give Us A Shout or Go Lead and their equivalents might be helpful!
