hii !! i really enjoyed your works so far and saw that your requests are open ! could i request the hq boys reacting to you running up to hug them after they win a tournament? not sure how many characters i can req so just however many you would like :D
HUGS AFTER A TOURNAMENT - HQ BOYS
ft. kei tsukishima, ryuunosuke tanaka, tobio kageyama, daichi sawamura
KEI: him being the salty guy he is (or can be) he’s not one for physical affection. but when he’s out on the court with his team celebrating their win and he catches you out of the corner of his eye—he’s hooked. and even if he’d never admit it, you were the only one he wanted to celebrate his big win with.
you came running up from behind him and wrap your arms around his waist.
“kei! that was amazing. you did great—you all did great!” you beamed, your voice muffled into his jersey.
“yeah, yeah. let’s get off the court, dumbass. people can see us.”
you smiled, noticing the red tinge on his cheeks; his hand holding yours tightly as he guided you both off the court.
RYŪNOSUKE: of course he’s one of the first to celebrate their big win. after each team thanks each other and makes their way off the court, he goes off to find you in the stands.
spotting you, he excitedly runs up to you and sweeps you off your feet and into his arms, before you could even get a chance to hug him yourself. “y/n! babe! did you see that? hey, we won!”
you laugh, “i saw, ryuu! you did amazing, baby. i saw you when you—”
he cut you off with a kiss. yeah, he was drenched in sweat, but you couldn’t have been happier to be with him in this moment after their big win.
suga was the one who needed your moment. “if you two are done, we’re heading over to change and get some food to celebrate—”
tanaka gave you a quick kiss and ran off to get changed. you couldn’t help but smile to yourself the entire walk out of the arena and back to the bus.
TOBIO: it had been a close game. but karasuno had turned the tables during the final set. offering to help clean up the court before heading home, tobio stayed back with a few other players.
you had made your way down to the court to find tobio, a broom in hand, sweeping the court. you ran up behind him and wrapped your arms around him.
“you did amazing, tobio!” you beamed. you could feel him first stiffen at the feeling of your arms around him, but his figure softened once he heard those words from you.
“you.. you really think so, y/n?” he questioned.
“yeah, tobio! i know so. i watched the whole thing!”
his cheeks burned red in the moment. you really were that proud of him.
DAICHI: he had ended up in the floor, engulfed by suga and asahi. this game had meant everything to them.
you laughed to yourself on the sidelines next to kiyoko, watching the whole thing take place. you wanted nothing more than to run up to your sweet boyfriend and hug him, but that would have to wait until the teams had said their thank you’s and goodbyes.
at the last moment, you finally watched as daichi made his way over to your spot in the bench.
“y/n, hey! did you—” you immediately cut him off with your embrace, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling his body close to yours.
you smiled to yourself in the moment.
“hey, you’re that excited for us too?” he laughed.
you pulled back to have your eyes meet with his. “of course i am! you guys did amazing. you did amazing!”
you planted a soft kiss to his cheek.
“yeah, we really did, huh?” he smiled.

Karasuno, Nekoma and Seijoh:
Miss Manager and the Mystery Man
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Karasuno x Fem! manager; Nekoma x Fem! manager; Seijoh x Fem! manager
Warnings: jealousy, mostly fluff
AN: this is a request, I kept it kind of generic and mostly platonic
Karasuno
Most chaotic reaction goes to Karasuno 🏆
It happens at nationals
The team is brimming with excitement and nervousness as they prepare to take on Inarizaki
You, on the other hand, are relatively calm
You know your boys and how talented each and every one of them is
There’s no doubt in your mind that they will win
While they stretch, you mindlessly jot down things to remember, stats you want to collect
“YN is that you?” A voice rings from behind you as you turn to see your cousin standing right there
“Omg hi!! It’s so good to see you!” You bellow in excitement as you quickly leap into his arms from a big hug
The team is watching, utterly confused
Why are you hugging this person? Why is this person a man??
They instantly go on guard
Tanaka and Noya are growling low
Suga and Enoshita watch with narrowed eyes
Kageyama isn’t even paying attention let’s be real 😅
Asahi is concerned
Kiyoko is all smiles because she knows who the man is and is happy for you
Hinata looks confused, as does the rest of the team
Daichi narrows his eyes, but decides to approach
“Uhh hey YN, who is this?” He questions, guard up but still giving the stranger the benefit of doubt
Of course, that is before Hinata jumps in and says
“Is this your boyfriend Yn??” He screeches as the entire team stops
Some hold their breath, others just stand there
And some, well some freak out
“Who the heck do you think you are city boy??” Tanaka provinces, getting right into said city boys name
“Some guy who apparently thinks he’s good enough for OUR YN!” Noya shouts, only encouraging Tanaka
Poor Yachi is standing there, no idea how to react
You just stand there, rolling your eyes because of course this is the conclusion they would come too 🙄
You quickly stand in front of your cousin, pushing the two one brained celled teammates back
“This is my cousin! He lives far away and I don’t get to see him often!” You shout
The team instantly relaxes
Daichi quickly grabs Tanaka and Noya, whose mouths gape at the realization and apologizes
“Sorry about this,” he says to you and your cousin
Your poor cousin is probably scared for life 😂
But deep down you don’t mind, you know the team love and care for you
Nekoma
Chillest team? Definitely not 😂
Today was a beautiful day for a run
Of course, your enthusiasm wasn’t shared by all teammates involved
See example 👉🏻 Kenma
But nevertheless the team needed to work on their endurance
Normally you wouldn’t go with them, opting to stay behind and fill water bottles or chat with the coaches
But lev and Yamamoto had been begging you to go so you figured why not
You didn’t exactly hate running (only god knows why) so you thought it would be a great team bonding activity
Per the usual Yamamoto is leading the pack, followed behind Kuroo and Yaku who are silently racing
Kai, Fukunaga, Lev and Inuoka trail behind
And last but certainly not least, is you and Kenma
While you and Kenma run, you talk a little but mostly Kenma tries not to die
Then you see him
As he approaches, you make sure it’s actually him before freaking out
“Omg Hi!” You screech, as Kenma looks from you to the mystery man who is now stopping and smiling back at you
“Hey YN, how are you?” He asks as Kenma continues to stare, taking advantage of the break but still wondering who this man is
Could it be your boyfriend?
By now the rest of the team has stopped and are quietly observing
No one does anything yet, at least not until the mystery man goes in for the hug
“Whoa whoa who the heck do you think you are?” Yamamoto quickly jumps in, halting the man’s movements
“Excuse me?” The man says before stopping and looking at you like you can control these guys 🙄
Then Kuroo and Yaku step up to the plate 🙄 because why not
“This is our manage dude, better back off!” Yaku snarls as Kuroo just smirks
“Yaku don’t be mean to the man, not like he has anything remotely close on us,” Kuroo sneers as the man looks so utterly confused
Kenma is definitely recording this whole thing because he knows something’s up
You just stand there unimpressed
“Guys will you knock it off! This is just my cousin! He lives here but I don’t see him much because he’s in college!” You shout as all the guys freeze
“Cousin??” Some say
“In college?” Others chime
“I’m so sorry about them,” you apologize, “they all share a braincell and it seems it’s not made an appearance yet today!”
Your cousin looks from you to them before speaking, “it was nice to see you Yn, I gotta head out.”
Your cousin quickly jogs away before he has to deal with anymore crap
“Do you guys have one ounce of chill in you?” You grind out
“Sorry YN,” they all say in unison
But you can’t be mad at them for long and soon you are back enjoying your run with your boys
Seijoh
Definitely the most jealous
It’s the interhigh tournament and you are busy filling water bottles for the team
Usually one of the boys would accompany you but coach needed them for a quick meeting
And your an independent woman, you can handle yourself
As you fill, someone comes besides you and taps your shoulder
“Hey Yn, long time no see!” The guy says as your face lights up and you hug him with all your might
You haven’t seen your cousin in ages, despite living in the same prefecture
“Hey how is it going? I see your team made it to interhighs. Congrats!” You say as you carry on a nice a sweet conversation
But that’s not what it looks like from afar
Because you see, a certain second year setter spots you and quickly runs to tattle on you for having any contact with boys outside the team 🙄
“Some guy is hitting on Yn!” Yahaba screams at the team as Makki, Mattsun, Iwaizumi and Oikawa RUN towards you
Mad dog, Watari, Kindaichi and Kunimi are calm about it but still head out to see what’s happening
Before you know it, your engulfed in a squeezing hug by Oikawa who is glaring at your cousin
“My YN back off!” He shouts as Iwaizumi smacks him upside the head
“What are you doing with our YN?” Makki probes as your cousin seems to be completely and utterly confused
“Umm I was just talking with her,” he says as you try and wiggle out of the caged arms of Oikawa
“Just talking?” Mattsun glares as you quickly make your way through the tall players
“He’s my cousin!” You shout as Mattsun, Makki, Iwa and Oikawa all go stiff
In unison they all say, “cousin??” And look back and forth from you to your cousin
“Yes and I was just talking with him about you guys!”
“Awe you were talking about me YN-Chan??” Oikawa squeals as Iwa again smacks him
“I’m so sorry about them,” you say before budding yourself cousin farewell and pushing the team away
“Sorry YN,” they bellow in unison again as you roll your eyes
Try not to be too mad at them Yn 😂

how the blue jay loves the sparrow
"kageyama used to be our shortest," iwaizumi notes, proudly, with an air of confidence no one under six foot should ever have. suga decides then and there he wants to kill him.  2k. oikawa/iwaizumi/kageyama. also on ao3.
what will survive of us is love.
The first practice match with Seijoh doesn’t go as planned.
Not only does Hinata projectile vomit four different ways on the bus and sours Tsukishima’s already sour mood into nearly murderous, no one listens to Daichi’s militant scoldings or even bat an eyelash at Suga’s thinly veiled threats. A strong case could be made for both their captainship styles losing its potency; because when you have a Hinata challenging virtually everyone he sees into a jumping contest and a Daichi who yells at him to get off the damn ceiling nearly every day, intimidation tactics are only going to get you so far.
It’s not even any of those things that completely wrecks the already atrocious bus ride over to Aoba Johsai.
It is, of all people, Kageyama.
Kageyama who, frozen in his spot by the school’s gym entrance, Daichi runs into that Suga runs into that Tanaka runs into that Asahi trips and falls over into and so on and on.
“What the hell?” Noya grimaces, rubbing the back of his neck that Yamaguchi unfortunately elbowed when he tried to cushion his landing because going near Tsukki in his still homicidal state wasn’t an option. “What just happened?”
Tanaka is trying to shake Hinata out of it, eyes swimming in a loop at having violently bounced off Asahi’s back and straight into the ground. “Stay with us, Hinata!”
Ennoshita is quick to follow with a handheld fan he kept for emergencies, directing it straight to Hinata’s face. “At least win us Nationals first!”
Daichi manages to get his bearings first. He already has his mouth open to school Kageyama five hundred different ways into obedience, rolling up the sleeves of his jacket, the beginnings of an you idiot, don’t just stand there when you know your senpais are—
“Wait,” Suga is quicker to apprehend him, placing a hand on his forearm. “Wait, Daichi. I don’t think Kageyama even heard us coming.”
“What?” Daichi frowns, stomping over to peer up at his face more closely.
It’s then they see all the color drained out of Kageyama’s face. His usually sunkissed complexion just bled dry of all pallor, the lines of his face set in a tense expression; the corners of his lips trembling just so. He even looks smaller, somehow, a little more muted.
“Kageyama?” Suga tries, a gentle hand coming up on his shoulder. “What’s wrong?”
Kageyama can’t hear them. There’s no sign of any comprehension in his eyes; blue grey that usually twinkled with so much activity and excitement, his gaze endlessly tracing all the dimensions of a court and its players. An incomparable imitation to now: eyes that just looked out of focus, pale, and; most importantly, nervous.
What the hell?
Suga traces his line of vision and meets eyes with someone wearing a mint green and white jersey, the colorway he knows belongs exclusively to Aoba Johsai. He strains his eyes to note the jersey number, #4, and tries to recall who it belongs to in Takeda’s information packet.
Unlike Kageyama, #4 at least isn’t wearing an expression that resembles someone being summoned to their execution.
On the contrary, Suga notes with some confusion, Seijoh #4 almost looked… curious. And maybe even a little expectant. Some of the players surrounding him looked unsure at this weird exchange between their first year and someone who was obviously around Suga’s age and could only be their senpai, if the worried glances they all kept shooting each other were anything to go by.
Daichi coughs to break the tension.
“You must be Aoba Johsai’s captain,” he steps forward, hands poised for a handshake. “I’m Sawamura Daichi, captain of Karasuno’s volleyball team.”
#4 stepped forward as soon as he did, but stopped short when he heard him speak. “Ah,” he rights himself, reluctantly shaking his hand. His grip wasn’t as firm as Daichi expected, almost hesitant. “No, no. Our captain is running late today. I’m the vice captain, Iwaizumi Hajime.”
“I see,” Daichi’s eyebrows shoot up just a fraction before regaining his composure. “Then, let’s have a good game.”
“Let’s have a good game,” parrots Iwaizumi back in return, voice molding itself more confidently. “Daichi-san.”
As soon as Daichi steps back, he hears Suga hissing in Kageyama’s ear to get it together for christ sake and no ones going to bite you. More murmurs of agreement are volleyed within the team, the loudest of them being Hinata, who is annoyed at Kageyama’s uncharacteristic jitterness and wants to make it known to every single person in the gymnasium. I didn’t know kings got cold feet!
At the mention of the reclaimed nickname, some people in the Aoba Johsai team avert their eyes away. Iwaizumi, however, doesn’t budge.
“So it really is you,” Iwaizumi says, voice levelled and controlled. “Kageyama.”
Kageyama, Suga notes, responds to the voice in a way he was only starting to see for himself. The square in his shoulders when one of them or the second years told him off or ordered him to do something, and the almost instinctive way he listens and does and services without complaint.
This, Suga thinks, is maybe where he got it.
“Iwaizumi-san,” Kageyama bows his head respectfully. “Let’s have a good game.”
“We were wondering which school you’d end up in,” Iwaizumi muses, tone gentler now that they’ve gotten the formalities out of the way. It’s easier to hear the familiarity in it now, too. “But I have to admit the crows weren’t even in my top five.”
“What’s wrong with Karasuno?” pipes Tanaka from behind, maybe a little too quickly and harshly, that Ennoshita has to wring his ear back.
Iwaizumi is quick to clear any misunderstanding. “Sorry,” he says, hands coming up in a pacifying gesture. “I didn’t mean it like that. Only that I know by the time Kageyama graduated, he had offers from other prefectures. Our coach even said so himself. I guess we’re just surprised, is all.”
Calm, level-headed, isn’t easily baited by overemotional underclassmen. Definitely the vice captain, Suga surmises with a hint of respect.
“Who is this we?" Hinata this time, voice laced with so much distrust and body poised like someone ready for battle. Daichi sends a sharp look his way to pipe it down.
This time someone from Iwaizumi’s back, who had for all this time been cowering behind him despite being significantly taller than most of his team, is the one who speaks out; albeit hesitantly. “Y-you didn’t tell them?”
Kageyama at least looks partly sheepish, glancing down to look at his feet. “Maa.”
Iwaizumi somehow finds all this amusing. “Kindaichi hasn’t stopped asking about you since he joined the team and noticed you weren’t here,” he says, gesturing to the kid behind him. “Kunimi too.”
The Kunimi and Kageyama share a look. There’s a little history in it, a language somehow only a few people in the room were capable of understanding.
What exactly, Suga thinks, has got all of them this tense?
“We all used to be in a team together,” Iwaizumi explains to the rest of the room, a hint of pride slithering its way in his declaration. “And your Kageyama over there is our captain’s precious kouhai.”
The doors to the gym swing open then.
-
Seijoh obliterates them.
No, really. Literally.
Hinata is so underequipped to handle any of Oikawa’s serves that he even intentionally softens them sometimes, to give the kid a fighting chance to at least make contact with it. But it all ends up with Hinata being bludgeoned off to the floor as soon as he tries diving for any of his serves. Tsukishima is no better, all the height in the world and nothing to show for with those twig arms. Daichi and Noya are at least able to put up a front, but most of their first years—aka half the starting team—still have a long way to go.
“Jesus Christ,” Iwaizumi hisses under his breath, swiping a towel over his forehead. “Is this going to be another Kageyama and friends show?”
Oikawa is trying to get his breathing level before responding, glancing at the other side of the court in time to see Suga force-feeding Kageyama a bottle of water all the while murmuring words of affirmation. Don’t mind, don’t mind! he says gleefully, and to Oikawa’s horror, actually means it.
Before he can get a reply in, the referee whistles for the post-game greetings.
-
Oikawa, unlike Iwaizumi, has a more confident gait about him. His handshake is firm and absolute, no room for hesitation and almost like a calling for you to level yourself with him and not the other way around.
“Good game, captain,” Oikawa says, smiling in that skittish way, that Daichi somehow finds both genuine and unnerving.
“Thank you,” Daichi replies. “You too.”
Beside him he can hear Suga and one of Seijoh’s third years—Mattsun, was it?—going into a semi-passionate reiteration of one of their earlier plays, both seniors coming from a place of genuine curiosity for the game and looking for ways to improve. That block was good, Suga-san, Mattsun says. But what about if you.. To which Suga replied, I see. I see.That makes sense!
Iwaizumi and Kageyama, on the other hand, are in the middle of a conversation that’s nowhere near as casual as it should be. Kageyama has his head bowed in turn, on the other side of the net, listening keenly on all the pointers Iwaizumi was rattling off about how he could do better in this and that and pointing out all the plays he did flawlessly. Listen here, Kageyama, he starts. How many times have I told you to use your height to your advantage in court?
Daichi feels Oikawa observing them closely too.
“Iwa-chan always had a soft spot for that kid,” he hears him say quietly, almost to himself. “I guess it’s hard not to be when you have someone like Tobio as your kouhai.”
Daichi is just about to ask what he meant when the Aoba Johsai coach calls for all the third years—Karasuno’s included—to huddle as he gave them his personal notes for the practice match.
The coach is lenient on Karasuno’s plays, and even anticipative of their first years, sensing some of their potential; but as his speech trudges on, Daichi notes in welcome surprise, that he was assessing Kageyama the same way he was assessing Seijoh’s players. Not with clinical interest like he did with Hinata or Tsukishima, but with a vested, personal stake at his development; so like he was on his own players.
After he leaves them alone with a promise from Oikawa to have his team perform suicide runs for their missed plays this time, Suga is the first to break the silence.
“Is is just me or did your coach sound angry Kageyama didn’t enroll here?” Suga glances unsurely at the senior crowd.
“Not just you,” Makki waves him off casually. “He regularly gets mad at Kindaichi for scaring Kageyama off from enrolling.”
“Kindaichi did no such thing,” Iwaizumi retorts at the same time Suga says, “Kageyama never even considered Aoba Johsai.”
Oikawa is quick to defuse and butts in before things escalate. “My my,” he muses, looking between the two. “I guess all of us have very spirited first years this time around, huh?”
Suga is still apprehensive, glancing unsurely at Iwaizumi who, for the first time, is showing signs of subtle hostility. It makes sense even Seijoh got territorial over first years—
“Kageyama used to be our shortest," Iwaizumi notes suddenly, proudly, with an air of confidence no one under six foot should ever have.
Suga decides then and there he wants to kill him.
“Are you saying our setter is short?" he quips back, taking a step into his space. “He’s still a first year. He’s still a growing boy. And really, how tall are you to even—”
Oikawa, feeling Iwaizumi flare up at the slightest slight to his height, is even quicker this time to get in between them. “Iwa-chan didn’t mean it like that,” he placates, smiling. “Just that Tobio was really tiny when we met him. Really. Like a round volleyball.”
Suga huffs, unconvinced.
“A-and well, he’s one of your tallest now, isn’t he?” Oikawa continues, a dip in his voice when he says “now”; like it was the first time he tasted the words and confronted the reality. That their “now” didn’t include Tobio. He wavered a little, then. “Kunimi-chan and Kindaichi-chan were taller than him then. They’re still taller now, but, I guess—”
“You didn’t expect Kageyama to grow as tall as he is?” Daichi finishes for him, feeling the air in the room settle into something less confrontational. Something more nostalgic.
Oikawa pauses. So does Iwaizumi.
History then, Suga notes. Obviously unresolved.
“The last time I saw Kageyama was after our graduation, when he was running around after us to teach him one last serve toss before we leave,” Iwaizumi says mildly, his gaze softening. “He couldn’t have been as tall as I am then.”
Suga deflates at that. There’s fondness in the tone of voice Iwaizumi takes on when he speaks of Kageyama, a little like his own, but restrained, somehow; like he felt he didn’t have the right to be as fond as he was. Suga wonders why that is.
“Sounds just like Kageyama,” is what he says instead, meeting eyes with Iwaizumi. A flash of recognition weaves its way in, the familiarity expanding itself, making room for Suga in Kageyama’s life in the “now”.
“Just—” Iwaizumi continues, still unsure. It’s a stark contrast to how he attacks the court, with a booming confidence in his steps and all the violence of an ace spiker. He looks a little unsteady on his feet now, like he’s stepping on someone’s toes. “Just be patient with him. He’s—he can be—well. He listens to his seniors well, but just don't give up on him right away if he doesn’t.”
Suga is stunned.
The way Kageyama talked about his middle school days—so riddled in isolation and anger—had maybe influenced Suga’s and the rest of Karasuno’s early prejudice towards Seijoh and met them with their own brand of ire that allowed for a child all of thirteen to have felt as alone as he did. But then he also wouldn’t put it past Kageyama to completely misread situations as often as he did. Even Suga had to remind himself not to take the things he said so personally.
Suga’s just about to reply, let Seijoh know that for whatever reason Kageyama who didn’t even consider enrolling in their school is now in good hands, when someone beats him to it.
“Tobio is a special kid,” Oikawa says somberly, not a single hint of that sarcasm or easy-going charisma in place. His face was the most serious they’ve seen of him today, his voice the most loaded with something close to a warning. “I didn’t teach him a single thing in middle school and yet he can still play like that. Watch out for him, inside and outside the court. He—ah—needs a lot of attention.”
-
Just as they’re about to leave the gym, the rest of Karasuno having long filed out, Oikawa calls after them suddenly.
“Sorry?” Suga strains his ears to hear.
Oikawa seems to be going through a hundred internal battles before shaking himself out of it, face morphing into determination, as he says in a clearer voice that echoes off the gym walls: “Milk yoghurt.”
What, Suga thinks at the same time Daichi blurts exactly, “What.”
“Milk yoghurt,” Oikawa repeats himself with more conviction and no hesitation. “Tobio always feels better after losing a match if you give him milk yoghurt.”
Behind him they can see Iwaizumi, the ghost of a smile on his face.

~Back In The Game~
~Chapter Thirty-One~
-Masterlist-
What happens when a girl who loves volleyball joins a boys' volleyball club? Does she find love? Will she relive her past or move forward? Join (L/N) (Y/N) on a journey with fun twists and turns.
I don't own Haikyuu or any of the characters.
Tumblr media
-Last Time-
“The practice game between Nekoma High School and Tsukinokizawa High School will now begin.” The referee announces.
“Let’s go.” Kuroo says firmly.
-Karasuno High School, Gym 2-
The boys are practicing their receiving skills. After everyone has successfully received five times in a row they move on to practicing serves. When Kageyama calls Asahi’s name it catches your attention. You listen as Kageyama asks Asahi if they can run a few sets before afternoon practice. Asahi agrees happily. Ukai and Takeda are talking about how much stamina Hinata and Kageyama have until Ukai asks Takeda a question.
“Do you think Nekoma’s made the trip up here yet?”
“They should be coming in on the bullet train today. I hear they’ll be staying at the Karasuno Sports Park Facilities and will hold practice games with various schools every day. On the last day of their stay, of course… they’ll be playing us. What sort of team is Nekoma?”
“Can’t say what they’re like now, but back in the day, they had a really solid defense. Every so often they’d have a star player on offense. But even when they didn’t, they were a team with no holes whatsoever. Totally the opposite of us!... The “Cats”... like their name implies…are agile.”
‘And cute.’ You think with a smile.
-Tsukinokizawa High School, Gym 1-
Kuroo dives to receive the ball and it’s successful. He gets praise from his teammates.
“Man, even that big middle blocker of theirs is fast on the digs!” A Tsukinokizawa player on the side of the court says.
‘What the heck is going on here?! We keep attacking, but nothing ever gets through!’ A player on the court thinks.
The ball is heading to Kenma as he stands looking at it. He sets the ball to number 7, who spikes it past the block and earns Nekoma a point. The whistle is blown indicating the end of the game. Nekoma wins with a score of 23-21 in the first set and 25-13 in the second set.
“They don’t have a single stand-out star on either offense or defense…” A Tsukinokizawa player begins as he and a few of his teammates watch Nekoma walk off the court. “...So how the heck are they that good?!”
-Karasuno High School, Gym 1-
“LUNCH BREAK!” Daichi announces.
“Yeah!!” Everyone responds happily. You’re about to follow everyone until you see Ukai looking troubled.
“Everything okay, Coach?” You ask. He doesn’t reply. You see the magnetic board with the player’s names on it and realize what’s going on. “Having trouble with the starting lineup?”
“Yeah. It’s the setter spot.” He replies. “I just…can’t pick.”
“...Try thinking out loud. It helps me sometimes.” He looks at you uncertainly. You smile and nod reassuringly. He hesitates then sighs, giving in.
“If we’re looking at pure athletic ability, it’s Kageyama for sure. But… right now, Sugawara has the best chemistry with Azumane, our Ace. While their two years of experience playing is Sugawara’s biggest strength… Kageyama has such overwhelming talent that I wouldn’t be surprised if he finds some way to overcome even that deficit in no time flat. He’s already using the rough-edged weapon that is Hinata with precision…as well as making good use of the other hitters. It only took him a month to manage that. If he was letting his talent go to his head and sitting back to rest on his laurels, that would be one thing… but the kid is one of the most dedicated players on the team.”
“...” You stand listening to Ukai, not saying anything.
“So. Say I put Kageyama into the starting slot for this upcoming practice match. If he can find some real chemistry with Azumane, even though the two of them have just met…then he’ll end up being the obvious choice for the starting setter when we start playing real games.” As Ukai continues you notice Suga look back at you two with a concerned look. “But that spot has been Sugawara’s for years. He’s worked hard for it and he has the complete trust of all his other teammates.”
“Could I be brutally honest with you?” You ask.
“...Go for it.”
“Could the reason you’re having trouble deciding is because Suga is a third year?”
“...!”
“This tournament season is special for the third years. This could be the last chance they have to play.”
“You’re probably right, kid. When I was in High School…in the whole three years on the team, I only ever cracked the starting lineup once. And that’s because the regular starter, a junior of mine, was injured and couldn’t play. At the time, the fact that I never managed to get a chance to play in a real game frustrated me like you wouldn’t believe.”
“...”
“But! Sure I’m technically a coach now…I can’t let myself think like I’m still a player. I’ve gotta leave personal baggage at the door.”
“Well, whatever you decide I know it will be the right choice.”
“Thanks, kid.” Ukai says,
“Don’t worry about it.”
-Later-
Ukai is getting a drink from a vending machine when someone calls out to him from behind. He turns around and sees Suga standing there.
“Yeah?” Ukai asks before taking a sip of his drink.
“For all of us third years…” Suga begins. “...there’s no next year.”
“...!”
“That’s why… we want to win as many games as possible now. Even just one more victory, to give us a ticket to play one more time. If Kageyama is the one who will give us the best chance of getting that next win… then I think there’s no reason not to pick him as the team’s starting setter.”
“...!”
“Oh…That was rude of me. I’m sorry, sir. Daichi, Asahi and I have been playing together since we were rookies. And frankly, I want to be out there on the court with them. I want to be out there as much as possible… even if it’s just for one rally. When Kageyama’s tired. A trick play. If something goes wrong… sub me in. Throw me in as a stopgap. I don’t care if it’s something so minor that everyone pities the “poor third-year forced into that.” If it means another chance for me to get out on the court during the game, I’ll do anything. Even if I’m not the starting setter, I still won’t give up on getting out there. The more chances I get, the better. That means more games…and that means more wins. I’ve already talked this over with the other third years.”
“...Sugawara.”
“?”
“Heck. To be honest, you’re scaring the crap out of me right now.”
“What?!”
“I’m still a novice when it comes to coaching, but…I promise you that I’ll do everything I can to make sure you keep on winning.”
“Thank you, Coach!”
“Sure thing.”
“...”
“...”
“Time to buckle down. We’re gonna win as many as we can.” Daichi says determined. He’s leaning against a wall around the corner from Ukai and Suga.
“Yeah.” Asahi replies next to Daichi.
-Later-
Hinata is walking down the hallway after using the restroom when his attention is pulled to someone behind him.
“AHA! There you are, Hinata. Do you have a minute?” Suga asks, walking up to him.
“Oh! Sugawara-san.”
“I’ll pass this to the rest of the rookies later…” He says getting something out of his pocket. “But here.” He hands Hinata a folded-up piece of paper.
“?”
“They’re hand signs…” Suga explains as Hinata unfolds the paper. “I’m not Kageyama. I don’t have the skill to set the ball perfectly for you wherever you jump. So instead, I want to establish some signs so that you’ll know ahead of time what set I’m going to use. Either that or I’ll do a simple “Jump here.”
“OOH!”
“I know it may sound boring to try to memorize all of these…”
“No, not at all! Secret hand signs are super cool, so they’ll be easy for me to remember!”
“Great! Then we’ve just got to have to practice together to get our timing down. Whenever you happen to have enough energy left after normal practice would be cool.”
“Sure!! I’ll practice with you whenever you want! I wanna learn how to hit every kind of set!”
-Cafeteria-
There’s a massive amount of food on the table. Tsukishima and Yamaguchi look at it and sigh. Across from them sit the other two first years. Hinata and Kageyama are scarfing down their food.
“Eat! Both of you! Stuff your face even if you’re not hungry!!” Noya exclaims while pointing at Tsukishima and Yamaguchi. “If you don’t build up your strength now, what’re you gonna do when summer comes?! You’ll dry up into sticks and blow away!”
“Yamaguchi, are you going to eat that? Can I have it?” Hinata asks.
“Hey! Let him eat his own food!” Noya scolds.
“You sure do have a big appetite today, Suga.” Ashai points out.
“Oh? I’ve got work to do, so I need to be sure I eat enough.” Suga replies, which earns knowing looks from Asahi and Daichi.

Haikyuu!! Coffee Shots #101-110
A collection of the Haikyuu sentence starters I’ve done, compiled for the sake of ease. These are all stand-alone stories.
~~~
101) Lee Oikawa, Ler Iwa
“I’ll do anything!” Oikawa squeaked, backing into the lockers in the clubhouse with wide eyes. “Just don’t – don’t tickle me, Iwa!”
Iwaizumi rolled his eyes. “Stop being so dramatic. You know you don’t hate it as much as you pretend to.”
Oikawa growled, but he still proved his friend right by staying put as he approached despite having ample opportunity to get away. “I…I swear, I’ll do anything. Anything you want!”
“You just don’t want me to go for your bad spot.” Iwa wasted no time in clawing at his ribs, making him sputter out helpless giggles. “Right, Toru?”
“Plehehehehease!” The setter gripped Iwa’s arms but didn’t fight back yet, squirming against the hard lockers behind him, mixing discomfort and ticklish sensations together. “Iwahahahaha!”
“This is for smacking me in the back of the head with your crappy serve this afternoon,” Iwa grumbled playfully, squeezing up and down his sides. “And this is for refusing to help take out the gear this morning.” He dug into his underarms. “And this—”
“I gehehehehet it, I get it! I’m a hohohohohorrible peheheheherson!” Oikawa squealed.
“I never said that.” Iwa chuckled, stepped right up against him to dominate his personal space, and grabbed his hips. “This is for putting words in my mouth.”
“CRAP!! NOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!!” The setter exploded into laughter, struggling and pushing against his assailant, squeaky cackles and embarrassing snorts interspersing his hysterics in a hilarious symphony of sounds. “GAHAHAHAHAHAHA NOHOHOHOHOHO!! STOHOHOHOHOP!! IWA!!”
“Will you still do anything?” Iwa teased.
“YES, YEHEHEHEHEHEHES!! ANYTHIHIHIHIHIHING!!”
“Then promise you’ll actually do good tomorrow. We have a game to win. We can’t afford to lose because you can’t serve worth a darn.”
“I – AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! I PROHOHOHOHOMISE!! PLEASE, IWAHAHAHAHA!!”
At last Iwa freed him from his ticklish torture, allowing Oikawa to gasp for breath as he slid down the lockers to collapse in a heap, still giggling quietly.
“Tch.” Iwa rolled his eyes, but he was smirking. He nudged his friend’s foot with his own before stalking off to his own locker across the room. “You really are a drama queen.”
*
102) Lee Daichi, Ler Suga
Daichi walked up to Suga, grabbed him by the shoulders, looked him dead in the eye, and asked, “Can you tickle me?”
“Wha-huh?” Suga stuttered, blinking several times. “Wait…what?”
“I swear I’m losing feeling in my feet and I do not want to have to miss god knows how many games if I’m actually infected with something.”
“You…might just be tired…?” Suga suggested, then realized what an awesome opportunity this was. “But yeah, of course, I’ll tickle some feeling back into you if you want.”
Daichi looked mildly embarrassed but mostly determined as he nodded and plopped to the floor, taking off his shoes. Suga was beyond shocked that this was even happening, but he wasn’t about to complain. “Okay. I’m ready.”
Suga smiled, held Daichi’s left ankle to the floor, and gently scribbled his fingers over his friend’s socked sole. He wasn’t at all surprised when the brunette burst into giggles and tried pulling his foot away, but Daichi certainly seemed to be.
“I swehehehehear I couldn’t feheheheheel anything else – okay, stahahahahahap, Suga!”
At this point, Suga’s smile became wicked. “You expect me to stop after just a little tickling? You literally asked me to do this; how can I stop so quickly?”
Daichi’s eyes widened. “W-Wait—”
Sugawara quickly straddled his shins to keep him from squirming away, dragging his fingers up and down both of his feet, enjoying the startled shriek he pulled from the team captain. “Seems like you still have feeling in your feet to me, but I think we should keep going a little longer just to be safe.”
“Sugahahahahaha! I can feheheheheheheel just fihihihine! S-Stop it! Plehehehease!” Daichi begged, falling back with heaps of laughter when his friend switched tactics and started squeezing his thighs instead. “AHAHAHAHAHAHA NO, WAHAHAHAHAIT!!”
Suga laughed along with him. “Sorry, Dai. I simply can’t stop at just one ticklish spot!”
*
103) Lee Suga, Ler Daichi
“Hey! Don’t do that!” Suga giggled, swatting Daichi away when his friend poked his side. “You know I’m ticklish!”
Daichi grinned and poked him again, snatching his wrist when he tried to fight back to keep his target open to attack. Suga squeaked and snickered, wriggling in Daichi’s grip desperately, trying to cover up his side with his opposite hand now.
“Stohohohohop! Dahahahahaichi!”
The brunette merely grinned at him and kept tickling.
“Why ahahahaharen’t you sahahahaying anything?!”
“Because you get so flustered when I stay quiet. You can’t handle being the only one filling the silence, especially when you’re being tickled.” Daichi chuckled, using the grip he had on his friend’s wrist to pull him closer so he could wrap his other arm around his middle. “Unless you’d like me to tease you with some of your favorite words?”
“Ah! No!” Suga dissolved into helpless giggles at the sudden light skittering across his belly, blushing bright red. “Thahahahahat’s not nehehehehehecesssary!”
“Tickle, tickle~”
“Gahahahahahahaha!” Suga tossed his head back against Daichi’s shoulder, gripping his tickling, hugging arms with what little strength he had. “Nahahahahahahaha!”
“Ticklish little Kou~”
“Nohohohohohoho—!”
“With his ticklish, ticklish…” Daichi found his navel and wiggled into it. “…belly button.”
Suga exploded with laughter, struggling fruitlessly for a few moments before his hyena cackles finally escaped him, his legs wobbling as he struggled to remain upright.
“AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! DAHAHAHAHAICHI YOU SUHUHUHUHUHUHUCK SO MUHUHUHUHUCH!! STAHAHAHAHAHAP IT!!”
“Ouch! I suck? That’s mean. Guess I’ll have to keep tickling you until you learn to be nice, Sugawara.”
Suga laughed so hard at the combination of teasing and tickling that his hysterics went silent, followed shortly by his knees finally giving out. Daichi helped ease him to the ground so he wouldn’t hurt himself, finally letting up and ruffling his hair in the process. “Feeling better?”
“Shuhuhuhut up.” The setter let out some leftover giggles and sat up shakily. “Jeheheherk…”
Daichi chuckled and gave him a quick hug. “Sorry. I just couldn’t help myself.”
*
104) Lee Hinata, Ler Kageyama
“Hang on, let’s talk about this!” Hinata cried, struggling to pull his arms free of Kageyama, who had chased him out of the gym, across campus, and halfway up the nearby hill the team sometimes used for training before finally managing to catch up and tackle him. Really, the fact that he’d caught up at all was a testament to how determined he was to make Hinata pay for his prank.
“You replaced my milk box,” the setter growled, using his height and strength to his advantage to pin Hinata’s arms to his sides before straddling him, “with a strawberry milk box? Strawberry?!”
The redhead couldn’t help but giggle a little, recalling Kageyama’s horrified face when he first took a sip after practice, immediately spluttering it right back out with such vigor that Yamaguchi had panicked, thinking he was choking on blood.
“Come on, it was funny!” he tried, offering a wobbly smile up at his friend, who merely glared at him. “You can still have a regular milk box.”
Kageyama made a show of bringing his fists to his chest to crack the knuckles, preparing, Hinata assumed, to pound him to a pulp fit for his favorite orange juices.
Then the setter wiggled his fingers, and Hinata’s eyes went wide.
“Wait! Wait, no, it was just a prank! It was funny!”
“If it’s so funny,” Kageyama growled, his tone playful and eyes mischievous now, “then let’s hear you laugh, boke.”
Hinata yelped, shuddering when his friend’s wiggling fingers touched down on his ribs, biting his lip to try and stifle the giggles that came out of him whether he wanted them to or not. He lasted for all of five seconds before finally bursting into laughter, tossing his head back to let it all out unfiltered into the air.
“NAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! STAHAHAHAHAHAHAP, KAGEYAHAHAHAHAMA!! NOT THE RIHIHIHIHIHIBS!! PLEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEASE!! I’M SOHOHOHOHORRY!!”
Kageyama chuckled at the mess he was making of the redhead with just the lightest presses and pinches to his lower ribs. It was effortless for him to keep Hinata pinned to the ground, unable to free his arms to fight back, and so he decided he’d take his time finding ways to make him laugh even louder, beg even harder.
“PLEASE, KAGEYAHAHAHAHAHAHAMA!!”
“Since you seem to like strawberries so much,” Kageyama replied easily, smirking at his friend’s boisterous, contagious laughter, “let’s see if I can turn you into one. It’s only fair, don’t you think?~”
*
105) Lee Hinata, Ler Kageyama
“Just because you’re taller than me doesn’t mean you’re better at volleyball,” Hinata grumbled as he slung his backpack over his shoulder. He and Kageyama were leaving the gym together as per usual, and somehow they’d gotten onto the topic of rival players and their skills, leading Kageyama to point out that most of the really good ones were tall, just like he was.
Hinata knew this already, and it bugged him that Kageyama felt the need to point it out.
“It helps, though,” the raven-haired setter said now, grabbing his gym bag and stuffing his hands in his pockets as they began to walk. “I’m not saying you don’t measure up to them; you know I know you’re good. But still.”
“Height doesn’t equal strength!” Hinata snapped, frustrated at constantly being the butt of short jokes. “I can be stronger than you. All of you!”
“Yeah, right,” Kageyama scoffed a laugh. Then he giggled for real when he felt a sharp poke to his ribs. His head snapped to Hinata, eyes wide as the redhead smirked at him.
“I can take you down easily enough if I tickle you, Kageyama~”
The setter dropped his bag and latched onto Hinata’s ribs in retaliation before either of them even realized he was moving. Still, when a loud screech filled the air followed by frantic hands clamping down on his wrists, Kageyama couldn’t help but grin in satisfaction.
“Maybe, but you’d have to tickle me first. We both know you always lose our tickle fights.”
“Nuh-uh! I wihihihihin plehehehenty of them! Lehehehehehemme go!” Hinata cackled, squirming desperately in his friend’s strong grip. “Kahahahageyama!”
“If you think you’re so tough, prove it.” Kageyama smirked. “Fight me off. Push me away. Tackle me to the ground and tickle me to tears. Oh, wait…you’d have to reach me first, wouldn’t you?” He expertly stepped as far away from the redhead as possible while still tickling him silly. “Too bad you’re such a shortstack.”
“I’ll mahahahahake you eat those wohohohohohords, stuhuhuhupid Kageyahahahahama!” Hinata cried, laughter rising in pitch with each failed attempt to wiggle away. “Juhuhuhuhust you wahahahait!”
Kageyama chuckled along with him. “Oh yeah? Come and get me then, Hinata~”
*
106) Lee Oikawa, Ler Iwa
“You’re blushing.”
“I’m not blushing.”
“Yes, you are.”
“No, I’m not!” Oikawa insisted, turning his face away from his friend defiantly, crossing his arms. His cheeks were stained pink, but of course, he wasn’t owning up to that. “It’s just warm in here.”
Iwa grinned at him. “You’re a terrible liar.”
“I’m not—”
“All right, fine,” Iwa said, holding up his hands in surrender. “You’re not in a mood. I get it.”
Oikawa huffed but said nothing, still looking away from him.
“I won’t do it unless you ask me to. There’s no point in making you laugh until you don’t remember your name anymore unless you’re enjoying yourself.”
“Right.” The setter shifted, daring a peek at him. “Exactly.”
“So I won’t. Your ribs and sides and knees and feet and—”
“Iwa.”
“—especially your hips are safe from me today. No tickling you until you’re begging me for mercy. None at all.”
Oikawa was gradually turning even pinker, shifting anxiously in his seat. It was adorable, really, how obviously he wanted exactly that, but if he was going to be stubborn, then so was Iwaizumi.
“It’s fun to tickle you, but only when you want it,” the brunette continued easily, smirking, waiting for the inevitable cracking façade. “Your ticklish laugh is fun to hear.”
“Iwa.” This time it came out as more of a whine. “Stop teasing me.”
“Oh? I’m just enunciating my point. I won’t tickle you unless you want me to.”
Oikawa was silent for a long time. So was Iwa. The ball was in the setter’s court now. It was up to him to set it so Iwa could spike it.
After a long moment, Oikawa finally huffed again and turned to face him, eyes averted in a cute, sheepish kind of way. He mumbled something under his breath.
“What was that?” Iwa teased one more time. He couldn’t help himself. He cupped his hand around his ear. “I didn’t quite hear you.”
“I said I want it, okay? I want you to tickle me! Quit being such a tease and just do it already!” Oikawa snapped, flushing redder with every word. Almost as an afterthought, he tacked on a tiny, desperate, “Please.”
Iwa grabbed his sides, digging in viciously, all of that pent-up tickler energy coming out of him at once, making Oikawa screech in surprise and toss his head back with elated giggles. “Like this? You finally admit you want tickles, huh? Just like this? Does this tickle, Toru?”
Oikawa nodded, and Iwa plopped himself in his lap as his fingers traveled down to his hips, both of them laughing together at the silly playfulness of the situation.
Both of them got exactly what they wanted that day.
*
107) Lee Akaashi, Ler Bokuto
Akaashi’s eyes were wide and terrified, and Bokuto couldn’t get enough of it. He grinned mischievously and wiggled his fingers. “Hey, hey, hey, Akaashi~”
“Don’t,” was all Akaashi could manage. Annoying as his friend was, being on the threatened end of something like this was enough to override his irritation. He put up a hand defensively, looking very much like a crossing guard trying to stop an oncoming train. “Don’t you dare.”
“Go ahead, try to run,” Bokuto teased.
It was a trap. Akaashi knew this. Yet he turned and bolted anyway. He could hear his friend right on his heels, but even so, he reached the door of the gym with enough time for him to think he might actually manage to get away.
No such luck.
“Ah! Bokuto, no! Get ohohohohoff! Get away! Bohohohoho!” Akaashi giggled despite himself as he was dragged away slowly from the door and his escape to the safety of the outdoors. Fingers were wiggling into his sides from behind, followed by playful nips along his neck that had the smaller boy squealing in seconds. He frantically tried to smack any part of Bokuto he could reach. “You jeheheherk! Don’t dohohohoho that! That’s weheheheheird – aieeee!!”
“It makes you make funny noises, though,” Bokuto chuckled into his ear, quickly twisting around so that he could push his friend to the floor face-first and then sit on his waist to keep him there. He hummed. “Now, what to do with you?”
“Nothing!” Akaashi shrieked, wiggling uselessly under his friend’s weight. “I swear I’ll kill you for this, you idiot! Let me go!”
Instead, Bokuto placed his fingers at the hem of Akaashi’s shirt. Not doing anything yet – just resting there. The suspense was killing the smaller boy. He trembled in anticipation.
“W-What are you doing?” he asked nervously, gasping when the first scribbles along his lower back shot a strong, ticklish jolt through his body. He bit his lip, but the giggles came anyway. “D-Don’t – Bokuto, I swehehehear, you’ll regrehehehet this! I’ll gehehehehehet you bahahahahahahack for this! Wait! Wahahahahahahahahait…!”
Bokuto grinned and kept up his gentle, ticklish assault. “Sorry, bud. You’re just way too much fun for me to tickle!”
*
108) Lee Noya, Ler Asahi
“Really?” Noya asked incredulously and with mild disgust as he eyed the handheld electric massager Asahi had bought. “What happened to going to the spa?”
Asahi took the item back from his smaller friend and replied, “Who has the money to go to the spa after every rough game? I’ve already used this a couple of times and it works great. Don’t knock it until you try it, Noya.”
The libero rolled his eyes. “I prefer having a person massage me, not some machine.”
Asahi grabbed his arm and sat him on the couch beside him. “Just try it, all right? It works, I promise.”
Noya grunted and crossed his arms. “Fine, whatever. Go ahead.”
Feeling victorious and eager, Asahi switched on the little machine and gently began to let it work its magic on his friend’s neck and shoulders, smirking when the stubborn libero began to relax despite himself, relief evident in his body language.
“See? Feels nice, right?”
“Shut up.” Noya groaned. “Hey, could you try my lower back? It’s been bugging me lately.”
“Yes, your highness,” Asahi teased, but obligingly glided the massager down his back along his spine.
Noya jolted about halfway down, arching away from the massager, giggling a little. “Hehey, that tihihickles.”
Asahi paused. He pressed the massager against his friend’s ribs without thinking about it. “Tickles, huh?”
“Hey!” Noya squealed, arching away again, falling to the side. Before he could recover, Asahi was straddling his legs and fighting to grab his arms, the massager having been abandoned momentarily, pressed against the libero’s stomach. “Ahahahahasahi! Gehehehehet it off!”
“No way,” Asahi chuckled, finally managing to push both of Noya’s wrists above his head, leaving him wide open. He grabbed the massager with his free hand and returned it to the smaller boy’s ribs, watching in amused satisfaction as his friend threw his head back and laughed.
“GAHAHAHAHAHA NOHOHOHOHOHO!! THIS ISN’T A MASSAHAHAHAHAHAGE!!”
“I don’t know, Noya. They do say laughter is the best medicine~”
“YOU JEHEHEHEHEHERK!! YOU KNOHOHOHOHOW HOW TIHIHIHIHICKLISH I AM!! KNOHOHOHOHOCK IT OFF!” Noya bucked his hips and let out a scream of wild, uncontained laughter when Asahi pressed the tool to his inner thigh instead. “GOD NO PLEHEHEHEHEASE NO NOT THEHEHEHEHEHERE ASAHI!! STAHAHAHAHAHAHAP IT!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!”
Asahi grinned, settling in comfortably to watch his friend come apart, pleased to have found another useful function for his massager. “Nah. I think you need a little more massage time, Nishinoya~”
*
109) Lee Iwa, Ler Oikawa
“Um. Oikawa?”
Oikawa glanced at Iwa, who was holding up a makeup brush with confusion and curiosity written all over his face. His friend looked at him, smirked a little, and said, “Why do you have makeup brushes in your house?”
“Don’t get the wrong idea, idiot,” Oikawa snapped, grabbing the item from Iwa. “My sister was here with my nephew this weekend and she left some of her stuff on accident. They’re not mine.”
“She left makeup brushes in the living room?”
“Yes!” Oikawa threw his hands up in exasperation. “I don’t know why.”
Iwa chuckled. “Sure, sure. Whatever you say.”
Oikawa glared at him. “I know you’re not laughing at me.”
“Me? Noooo.”
The setter growled, then smirked and waved the makeup brush around teasingly. “Fine. If you really think they’re mine, I must be good at doing makeup, right? Let me show you how good I am, Iwa-chan~”
“No way,” Iwa laughed, taking a step back and then booking it entirely when he realized his friend was serious. “Back off! You suck at makeup!”
“How would you know?!”
“I know you were helping the drama club with their production last year because you liked one of the girls,” Iwa called over his shoulder as he scurried into the kitchen and toward the stairs.
“I wasn’t doing makeup! That’s an insult to the ladies who were!” Oikawa yelled, chasing him up the stairs and into his own bedroom, where Iwa tried to lock the door behind him before the setter could catch up.
No such luck. Oikawa burst into the room after him and tackled him onto the bed, dragging the brush all over his face. “Ha! See that? I can do makeup! You look beautiful, Iwa-chan~”
“T-Tohohoru!” Iwa giggled, squirming and tossing his head back and forth, trying to escape the tickly bristles of the brush. “Stohohohohop thahahahat!”
“Aww, too ticklish to get your makeup done? Too bad~” Oikawa teased mercilessly, dusting the tool over the shell of Iwa’s ear, enjoying the girlish squeal he got for his efforts. “I have to prove to you that I know what I’m doing, so lay still and take it like a good, ticklish little Hajime~”
Iwa cackled, his face blushing red, but he knew he was stuck here now no matter how much he laughed and pleaded. “Tohohohohohohohohoru…!”
*
110) Lee Kuroo, Ler Daichi
A loud crash from within the gym’s storage room startled Kuroo out of his zombie-like haze of doing a final sweep of the building before locking up for the night. He faced the closed – and, he had thought, locked – double doors and waited for another sound, but nothing came.
He turned to where Kenma was waiting for him by the door of the gym, playing a video game. “Kenma?”
“Huh?”
“Didn’t you hear that?”
“Hear what?”
Kuroo couldn’t decide if he was serious or not. “That giant crash from the storage room?”
Kenma finally looked up at him, giving him a quizzical stare. “Uh…no? There was no crash.”
They stared at each other in silence.
Kuroo sighed and fished out his keys. “Dang it.”
“You’re just imagining things. Maybe it was a ghost,” Kenma muttered behind him, but the captain was going to do his job and check it out anyway, so he didn’t bother raising his voice too much. He just went back to his game.
Meanwhile, Kuroo unlocked the doors, stepped inside, and fished around for the light. Before he could find it, though, something grabbed his wrist and yanked him further inside, the door slamming shut behind him.
“Ken—mmph!” Kuroo tried to scream, but a hand slapped over his mouth, silencing him, and then hot breath was on his neck and he couldn’t help but let out a tiny whimper, more terrified than he wanted to admit.
“Hey, honey~”
Kuroo breathed out a huge sigh of relief, his heart pounding. He was going to kill his boyfriend for this.
Daichi chuckled, unwilling to remove the hand covering his mouth as he drew his partner in closer, snaking a hand around his waist and curling his fingers into his side.
Kuroo jerked, giggles bubbling up but unable to break free thanks to Daichi’s makeshift gag. He squirmed and tried thrashing, but tickling was always enough to weaken him immediately, and between that and the scare he’d just had, he suddenly found he had no strength to fight.
“Let’s have a little fun, hmm?” The Karasuno team captain cooed into his ear, and Kuroo whined again, for different reasons this time
When the laughter finally became loud enough that even Kenma could hear it from across the gym, the second-year smirked to himself.
Get him good, Daichi.
I am going to review the movie I saw yesterday. I suppose this is where I should warn for full spoilers for the movie, I suppose? The movie is Ronin of the Earth.
The movie begins with the main character, a nameless ronin, entering a small village, Kusanomura, in the state of Aoba, accompanied only by their young Cubone companion. They ask for lodgings, but have no money, offering to work for their stay instead. The innkeeper tells them they may stay, but they have to leave early the next day, before they are discovered.
In the night, the ronin and Cubone are awoken by a fire. Bandits had heard of an extra head arriving, and demanded taxes for the ronin- Fifty thousand zeni. The ronin, of course, simply defeated the bandits with powerful strikes, while Cubone watched. The bandits fled, but warned that the shogun would hear of this defiance.
Talking to the innkeeper, the ronin learned that the state of Kaen had been on an expansionist streak, conquering all the lands around- Izumi, Kigan, and Daichi had all fallen already, and it seemed Kaen would become the masters of all the land, by burning all dissidents.
There are scenes interspersed throughout the movie where the ronin trains with their sword, and watching them, the Cubone trains with its bone in the same motions.
In the second act, a great samurai comes to try to attack Kusanomura to defeat the ronin, and the ronin can only win by using their secret technique, a slash so powerful it erupts into flames. The samurai then recognizes this technique, the signature of the former general of Kaen, Homuramaru.
It is revealed that the ronin was formerly Kaen's greatest warrior after all. The ronin, Homuramaru, led the campaign against Daichi despite her own misgivings. However, witnessing the destruction caused by her own forces, including the death of a Marowak, she turned against her own side to protect the infant Cubone left behind. Abandoning her nation, her honor, and even her own name, she became a nameless ronin roaming the land.
Hearing of the traitorous Homuramaru, the shogun musters all his forces to descend upon Kusanomura to destroy the village along with the ronin. Standing against them, alone, Homuramaru does her best to defend it, but is forced to sacrifice her life to protect Cubone. There, she tells the Cubone that she never gave it a name, due to feeling unworthy as one who had cast aside her own name, but with her dying breath, gives Cubone the name Gou'u.
Gou'u then stands alone in front of the oncoming soldiers who plan to destroy Kusanomura, and, using his bone, uses the same technique as Homuramaru. But rather than flames, the slash instead projects the power of the earth, destroying the army in one attack, as rain falls to douse the fires.
One year later, Gou'u, now a Marowak, sits in front of a nameless grave adorned only with a sword. His slash seemingly revitalized the earth around the burned Kusanomura, and the city has been rebuilt into the beautiful Hananomura, a city of flowers. But once the city has been rebuilt, with his bone and Homuramaru's sword at his side, he departs from the city to continue to wander as a ronin.
Overall, I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. The core of the movie was not the action scenes nor the set pieces, but the quiet bond of the ronin and the Cubone, as well as the ronin's guilt for her past crimes. The emotional nature of the movie culminated in an illogical 'miracle' in the end with Cubone's attack, but I did not mind.
It was overall, a very good movie.
In which Arista understands Kane's plan, the outcome to the Varsity/JV showdown is revealed, and Tyson is a smooth operator and comes to Hilary's (unnecessary) rescue.
They clustered together near the net where Tala had scored, loudly jeering and celebrating their win. He pushed off to join them and drew up when he nearly collided with Tyson, the boy's gaze up in the stands. "You still trying to stop me, Tyson?" Tyson pulled up short and then a grin spread, creasing his cheeks. "I think I did a pretty good job!" Kai snorted, and feeling magnanimous, he inclined his head. "You weren't bad." He paused. "You know, you could be an asset for Varsity." Tyson sobered, and he swept his stick up to rest on his shoulders, holding it on either side of his head as he observed his team mingling by the bench. "I know, but, I want to play with my friends. I still have the luxury of choice in this game, so I'm gonna take it." Six months ago Kai wouldn't have understood that concept. Playing in the NHL meant giving up all control of who you played with. Bonds with a team were superficial. They could trade you in the blink of an eye, and force you to play with a brand new set of players, some of whom might have been your bitterest enemies. That had never bothered him; in fact, it had frustrated him when he joined the Tigers to realise they didn't have that mindset. But now, having played with a core of extremely talented players he actually liked as people, he understood completely. He couldn't blame Tyson for wanting to stay. He drifted to his teammates, smirking when Enrique jumped on Johnny's back to yell in his ear, only to get knocked back on his rear. "Told you we'd bring our 'A-game'!" Ian screamed across the ice. Hitoshi spread his arms, a bewildered furrow on his brow. "We all know you only won because of Mariah," Daichi muttered, as he passed by. "Your laces are undone," Tala pointed out, and when Daich's gaze dropped to look, Tala caught his stick and sent it skidding over the ice.
afterglow || your hand in mine (fictober day 09)
fandom: haikyuu!! pairing: kagehina fic summary: Kageyama has learned a lot of things since befriending Hinata Shouyou. Things about Hinata, things about himself. How to open up. How to be vulnerable. How to love. And Hinata? Hinata learns more about Kageyama than he ever thought he would. First-year Kagehina/Hinakage drabble collection ft. the rest of Karasuno, written for sarahenany. Slowly working through the remaining Fictober 2022 prompts! fictober day 09: "sounds like 'you' problem" by @fictober-event ch summary: After practice one day, Hinata feels insecure about his size. This isn't unusual, but Kageyama says something that makes Hinata rethink his position on the court and his place on the team.
entire drabble below. :) find the whole collection: ao3 // tumblr
Hinata narrowed his eyes. “I… I can’t tell.”
Noya brought his face closer to their hands, squinting as well. He frowned in concentration. “I can’t… either. You know what that means, right, Shouyou?”
“What?”
“It means I win.”
“Whaaa?!” Hinata jerked his hand away, giving his upperclassman an offended look. “That’s not fair, Noya-san!”
“Of course it is.” Noya’s frown vanished and was replaced a second later with a toothy grin. “I have seniority!”
“How does that make your hands bigger than mine?”
“Because seniority~” Noya sang as if it made perfect sense, even though it didn’t make any sense at all.
“Yeah, well,” Hinata began, scrambling to think. “Well, I’m still an inch taller than you!”
Noya gasped, now looking just as offended as Hinata felt. “Going for that single inch? Shouyou! You wound me.”
“Oh, knock it off, you two,” their captain said. “You’re supposed to be helping clean up! Did you forget your promise this morning?”
Noya slumped forward, and in a defeated voice: “To work with everyone to clean up for the event this evening.”
“And?”
“And that’s why practice ended early,” Hinata added with a sad sigh.
“Good.”
“You’re both short to me,” Tsukishima said suddenly.
“Yeah, yeah, that’s what I’m known for these days.” Hinata rolled his eyes as he stood up to fulfill Daichi’s orders. “Nobody’s gonna let me live it down.”
“Sounds like a ‘you’ problem.”
“Don’t you worry, Shouyou,” Noya said, standing as well after giving Tsukishima a dirty look. He clapped Hinata on the back with enthusiasm, their argument now long forgotten. “I’m not giving up on you. We’ll always suffer together!”
Across the court, Tanaka burst into laughter. Despite this, Hinata smiled at his upperclassman, trying to remain in good spirits. “Thanks, Noya-san.”
Twenty minutes later, when they’d finished cleaning up and changed out of their practice clothes, Hinata walked in step with Kageyama like he usually did when practice concluded for the day. It was oddly quiet—but then again, it wasn’t unusual for Kageyama to stay silent while Hinata babbled away. This time, though, Hinata didn’t feel like talking, either.
Unfortunately, it seemed like Kageyama noticed.
“What’s with you?”
“Hm?”
“You’re moping.”
“I’m not moping,” Hinata defended, giving him a heated look.
“Are too.”
“Hush it."
“It’s the hand thing, isn’t it?”
Hinata opened his mouth to deny it once more but then paused, irritated because Kageyama was right. And maybe that was stupid or made him seem childish, but he didn’t care—he’d always been self-conscious about his size, and while Noya didn’t seem particularly worried back in practice, it did bother Hinata, because, well…
He’d always thought it was cool that other players—Kageyama included—could hold a volleyball with one hand. Hinata hated that he couldn’t do it, himself. His hands just weren’t big enough.
 “Oi,” Kageyama said when Hinata remained silent. “What’s your deal? Why does that matter?”
It took Hinata a few moments to realize that he’d stopped walking, causing Kageyama to pause in his steps as well, only a foot or so ahead of him.
“Shut up,” Hinata said sourly. He gripped his handlebars tightly, gazing at the pavement. “You wouldn’t get it.”
“Why not?”
“’Cause you’re tall! Nobody picks on you for being short. Nobody would pick on you for having tiny hands.”
Kageyama didn’t respond, at first. Hinata risked a glance up at him to see why and found that Kageyama wasn’t even looking at him—instead, his eyes were locked on Hinata’s hands.
“Your size is actually your greatest weapon,” he said eventually.
Hinata’s frown deepened. “I know. Volleyball is all about size. You don’t have to keep reminding me.”
“No, I mean, it’s your greatest weapon, personally,” Kageyama went on. “You’re short, so everyone looks at you and thinks, ‘This guy isn’t a threat.’ But you are. You’re the biggest threat we have.”
Hinata’s breath caught in his throat upon hearing the words, eyes blown wide. Something fluttered in his stomach—a sensation that he’d associated with Kageyama time and time again—and he thought, in the safety of his own mind:
How come you know exactly what to say to make me speechless?
“...oh.” A tiny, excited smile pulled at his lips. “You think that?”
“You’ve proved it, you idiot.”
“Me,” Hinata echoed, suddenly extremely giddy. “A threat. The biggest threat in Karasuno.”
“You still have a lot to learn,” Kageyama warned abruptly. "Don't let it go to your head."
“As if you have any room to say that to me.”
Hinata’s grin shifted into something less gleeful and more teasing as he spoke. Still, he couldn’t deny the joy that spread through him brought by Kageyama’s words. It was so strong that he wanted to take off on his bike with a celebratory cheer, and he was getting ready to do just that when something curled around his wrist.
Hinata froze. “Wh…”
He glanced down to check and yeah, that was Kageyama’s hand. When he lifted his gaze to give Kageyama a questioning look, Kageyama wouldn’t meet his eyes.
“S—” He stumbled, cheeks pink. “So, uh…”
“...Kageyama?”
“Don’t. Um.”
Hinata blinked, waiting.
“Just don’t let it bother you,” Kageyama finally spat out. “It’s—it’s not like it has to be a bad thing.”
It took him a few moments to realize that Kageyama was trying to reassure him. It was… almost funny how Kageyama could say something that would stick with him for a long time without even trying, but when he actually put the effort into cheering him up, he didn’t know how.
Once again, Hinata’s smile changed. Grew softer. Sweeter. His wrist felt warm underneath Kageyama’s fingers, and slowly, experimentally, he moved his hand to touch Kageyama’s.
Unlike Noya’s, Kageyama’s hand was much larger than his own. He rested his palm against Kageyama’s, lining up their fingers, and for once, the size difference didn’t bother him.
He... kind of liked it.
“Alright,” he said softly, with that same smile. Kept their hands pressed together. Found the warmth to be pleasant. He didn’t pull away.
Neither did Kageyama.
Parasite Game
Regulos: Regulos is able to overpower Volcan despite the forbidden technique he used. Dying, Volcan notices Regulos' intense eyes and questions if he is from "that planet" and when realising Regulos doesn't know who he is, he dies laughing at being able to keep that knowledge from him. The spirits of Alude, Phoros, Tubahn, Albeo and Pharood acknowledge Regulos, and with him as the new Grand Master, he and Spica plan to revive the Cosmo Beast School. Dias suddenly appears alive, and fires a blast at Regulos, Spica takes it, and regretting she can't see the future with him, passes on the Cosmo Leopard, entrusting him with the Cosmo Beast Style. Dias reveals the man Regulos knew doesn't exist, revealing himself as a disguise for Absolute Diavolo, and declaring himself the Cosmo Beast inheritor, having bonded with the Cosmo Buffalo. Dias had made to strike Alude, but the Master was no fool, and hitting with a killing blow, he revealed his Absolutian nature, Alude aware of them, and then draining the Cosmo Buffalo from him. Thanks to his Absolute Hearts he was revived, he also reveals he lured the Magma Seijin there to attack so he could get Alude with his guard down. Enraged, Regulos went to attack, but was knocked down by the arrival of Tartarus, who wanted him held so The Kingdom could study the Ultra Warriors. And thus Regulos was chained up in a certain room in The Kingdom, until the day another prisoner was brought.
New Generation Stars: After learning from his father that they're done collecting data on other Ultras, Zero has one more Ultra collect data on, himself. He recalls his battles with Belial and his allies in Ultimate Force Zero, then after activating his data recalls the battle with Hyper Zetton. This leads him to remember that Dyna is crossing dimensions, and is connected to Decker's future. Could that be the reason the Dimensionizer is designed after him? The one responsible for the data loss seems excited to learn it has all been restored.
Geats: Geats removes Neon from danger, then defeats the Parasite Jamato, before Michinaga and Keiwa approach. At the rest area, they explain about Beroba and Kekera, Keiwa still wants to restore the victims, but recognises protecting what is left is most important right now, while Michinaga wants to get rid of the leftovers, Beroba and the Jamato, so Tsumuri gives them their Drivers. Neon's mother watches news about Kousei's arrest and mourns, when Neon comes back to see how she is. She now doesn't care about her replacing Akari, she considers her her daughter, begging her to stay, but she refuses. With Keiwa focusing on Rider duty, Sara decides to look for more work to keep them afloat. Jitto and Samas approach Kekera and Beroba, offering Premium Black cards if they help oust Geats and awaken Tsumuri. Ace and Tsumuri have seen the hooded figure in footage, but can't ID them. Daichi is the one responsible, cultivating Jamato and refusing to use the Nadge-Sparrow ID Core Beroba got him, instead getting bis knowledge by consuming cultivated Jamato. Sara is given a new job, when Jamato attack, she fights them off and Daichi approaches her, his disfigurement hidden, and reveals info on the Jamato in the guise of being helpful, including stage 2 being permanent. She never returns home, only sending a text very late about seeing Daichi. Keiwa is very anxious, asking for a stronger buckle Tsumuri cannot offer, and is prepared to go after Daichi. Ace takes him to meet Daichi, who lets slip he knows about the parasite state. Win goes to question Samas and Jitto, telling them he'll stand against their schemes. At Sara's new workplace, police have a Jamato cocoon cordoned off, Michinaga arrives and goes to fight the emergent Jamato. He's given up his Rider-killing powers now, telling Beroba his enemies are now her and the Jamato. Daichi reveals his new Jamashin form, and tells them it's too late, as Geats fights him and sends Keiwa to find Sara, he arrives as Buffa lands the killing blow on the Jamato, Sara, who Daichi infected with multiple parasite Jamato as he explained stage 2. She dies still wishing to protect the world with him. Keiwa and Michinaga are both distraught at this, as Beroba and Kekera enjoy the despair, and e rage Kekera believes will make Keiwa a true Kamen Rider, as Keiwa in his anger questions Michinaga, who merely confirms he killed her, and Keiwa strike him, Michinaga refusing to act. Daichi gloats and leaves, as Tsumuri prays in despair over what has happened. Hours later, in the rain, Keiwa still sits where his sister died, and Tsumuri's prayer resonates with him, and a new Tycoon is born.
Kingohger: Rita wants a premium mini-Moffun and has one in evidence, but refuses Morphonias' suggestion they go to Ishabana on the 15th anniversary of their becoming Supreme Justice, as they have to do the annual review of the evidence against the first person they sentenced, Shiron, husband to the previous justice Karras. Shiron has always maintained he killed her using a poison they never identified, but remembering talk of the Fury of the Gods, Rita goes to Ishabana with Morphonia after all, briefly discussing how Morphonia, as retainer, is next in line to be Supreme Justice, a role she feels ill suited for, as Rita was chosen as Karras' retainer at age 5, 5 years before her death. Prisoners shifting snow discuss the snow elf, responsible for keeping the snow in front of the Palace tidy. Racles won't give Kaguragi details of the negotiations, and Jeramie is praising the achievement to Gira and Yanma, but Gira doesn't trust Racles, and Yanma shows Jeramie Bugnarok are still acting in N'Kosopa. Morphonia finds the mini-moffun's sold out, as Rita requests to Himeno the poison Shiron used be compared to Scorpi's. Kamejin sends the "snow elf" to continue the work, mentioning Shiron, claiming Jerakie shouldn't worry about it. In court, Himeno confirms the poison was from God Scorpion, meaning Shiron had some connection to the one who killed Himeno's parents. KuwagataOhger and TonboOhger fight Bugnarok in N'Kosopa. Shiron confirms the Fury of the Gods was caused by a person, but the crime couldn't b3 proved in the court of law, so Karras stepped down so she could arrest them, faking her death in the process, and jailed them, intending to guard them in secret, this was all for the sake of Gokkan's absolute neutrality, even he doesn't know where they are. He's able to tell Rita now that they've discovered the secret of the venom, and passes on Karras' last message. Declared innocent, he intends to find Karras, but the Bugnarok appears, targeting him. Rita leaps to defence, as does Himeno, and drives it off. He reports to Kamejin his failure, but he knows Shiron knows nothing, and encourages him to grow giant and at least kill a king or two. And annoyed Spider Kumonos uses Tarantula Knight with the Cicada Blade, angry at the peace disruption. Afterwards, Himeno thanks Rita for finally confirming her belief, presenting a mini-moffun, Rita accepting in their own way. In the middle of the battle with the Bugnarok, they declare to Yanma that Racles wants to talk, as Shugoddom's King appears on screen to tell Yanma they will he discussing peace terms between them.
Metropolis: Aku no Himitsu Kessya stew in their cell, but Hatena reveals to Yabai Kamen the suspension of Hero activities that happened as he and Maid Shitsuji were taken away, further, Shaberryman is planning their next step. With all the Dogengers gathered at the Station, the commissioner reiterates the banning of hero activities aside from Hyakutoban, though it's clear Akuta thinks this is a mistake, warning that Yuz-Yuz is more dangerous than the police think. Shiraishi gives respect to Yoriki, and declares his appreciation to the heroes, before heading out on patrol with Akuta. The two disagree on whether Yuz-Yuz must be destroyed, but Akuta is impressed by Shiraishi's declaration of what being police means, and finally got a winning ice cream, Shiraishi noticing first. Yuz-Yuz chats away about Shiraishi and what she wants to do while Shaberryman improvises extra armour using YABAI copies, before forcing the SSA on her, putting her in a dark state, her orders her to target the prison tower, resulting in her firing a blast that goes through him to the locale. Their cell blasted open, Aku no Himitsu Kessya begin their escape, Shiraishi is resolved to stop them. Alone, Shiraishi confronts Shuraomaru, Gallia, Gulf, Maid Shitsuji, Nectaris, Uzagi, Hatena and the Caramis. Hyakutoban is fighting valiantly, but is overwhelmed, the Commissioner questioning the decision, as Ohgaman appeals to a politician. As he keeps fighting, Hyakutoban asks that Akuta disengage the SSA. When he sees his subordinate's resolve, and the need, he throws him the Master Key. Shuraomaru knocks him off the building he's hanging from, but he's caught by Ohgaman, but exhausted and beating. The Dogengers all arrive, acknowledging him as a true hero. A furious Commissioner starts making calls to get the Dogengers stopped, but the news reports the fact that the real life mayor of Fukuoka has had the Dogengers recognised as part of Fukuoka defence as entities sponsored by private business, and giant Sekikaguo 208 is in action to help fight the villains. Akuta is happy with this development. Ohgaman schools Nectaris and Maid Shitsuji in proper health habits, Fukuokaliber teaches Hatena about Aojiru, El Brave shows wrestling techniques to Gulf and Gallia, followed by Great 2 delivering a pizza right to them. MAKO teaches Hatena about mentaiko, Bincho Fire promotes yakiniku, Kitaqman does SNS, Sekikaguo 208 promotes itself, Ex studies tourism advice, Yamashiron lectures Shuraomaru, Uzagi and Kage on proper cooking, the curry is so good Kage does a Rise to fight Sekikaguo 208. Akuta tells Shiraishi he doesn't have to fight alone, everyone needs support, even Yoriki getting paperwork help from Ex's comrades. Rookie and Ohgaman pair up, Yamashiron helps Ex, Fukuokaliber and MAKO and Metal are back-to-back, Bincho Fire breaks a squabble between Great 2, El Brave and Kitaqman, and Sekikaguo 208 defeats Kage. Shiraishi entrusts this fight to the heroes, as he has one more person he has to save. Yuz-Yuz looks out, her memories trying to break free from the programming the SSA forces on her, her mind seems near collapse.
Tycoon Meets Shinobi: Well here we are. It's february, and we have the penultimate episode of Shinobi, with a special episode 46. At least we know who the antagonist is here, for Donburis it could still be literally anyone. Shinobi has been very gimmick-lite compared to almost all series recently. The closest would be Dobutsu Sentai Go-Busters a decade ago. And who would have thought they'd actually follow through on making Shinobi the 2022 Rider? Just don't everyone get ahead of themselves and actually expect to see Quiz in 2040, okay? If Suzuki does reprise a toku role that year, I feel fairly confident it will be for a Great 2 anniversary. Anyway, we all know who's returning for this episode, tying in to the ninja world that has permeated the whole season. ZX in the flesh again, Kenzan, bloomin Fuma????. Now you might be confused about the secondary lead, Sakurai Keiwa, Kamen Rider Tycoon and his sister Sara. Now for those of you who don't remember the TTFC special Kamen Rider Geats from a few years ago, that detailed a hypothetical 2023 series where Riders compete for a wish to create their ideal world. Now Keiwa was not a Rider there, merely being a bystander caught in the devastation during the 3rd and final episode, but the cliffhanger ending indicated that, in the hypothetical continuation he, and fellow bystander Kurama Neon, would be chosen as Riders in the next tournament, which is borne out here. Tycoon's helmet is I think modified from the one used by Garun or Lancer from that special, while he uses the Ninja buckle used by the first episodes surprise elimination, Groovy. Anyway, I've rambled a lot for what's really just a regular episode happening to feature past characters, I should get on with summarising. I didn't talk this much about Revi did I?
It's been a wild year. The early arc featuring Shinobi first saving Iroha and her developing her crush, then the flashback arc where Gamano saved Rentaro, gave him his powers and informed him of Iroha's being the Niji no Hebi Princess, then the classic Hattari debut arc, which confirmed Isamichi's love for Iroha and gave the shock revelation of Yaminin's own love for her, as well as getting some hinting at Gamano's more sinister plans. Since then we have had 4 more Riders appear, all naturally falling in love with Iroha in various ways, then the The introduction of Niji no Hebi's true leader, Amakusa Shiro Tokisada, and the legendary 7 way battle between all 6 Riders and Yaminin that ended with Kagenosuke dying. But now Niji no Hebi have taken the Konjo Group, finally have Iroha in their grasp, and have stolen all 6 gourds, Isamichi being killed trying to defend Rentaro, at last knowing Shinobi was his best friend.
Still desiring power from more Ninja Riders to build his strength, Tokisada tries to gather Ninja Riders from other worlds, which is how Sakurai Keiwa is dragged into out story, alongside Sara. Due to Sara picking up Keiwa's dropped Desire Driver as they find themselves disoriented, the ninjas abduct her as the Ninja Rider, and Keiwa is dragged to the Gekonin base, where Rentaro is depressed, and Gamano, who Keiwa mistakes for yakuza...frog...statue... named Kekera, must be something from later in the hypothetical show, requests his help to solve both their problems. Amakusa Shiro explains to Iroha that when she turns 18 tomorrow and becomes the successor to Kamen Rider Shinobi, replacing the bushin, their marriage will therefore make him all powerful. Sara is brought, but he recognises she isn't the Rider, keeping her to serve Iroha. After being manipulated by Gamano to act, Keiwa helps motivated Rentaro with a good meal, while Sara and Iroha bond over their brothers, and plan. As wedding prep is underway, Iroha and Sara start fighting their way out, but Amakusa Shiro bewitches Iroha, she forces Sara to flee. Niji no Hebi attack Gekonin, and Keiwa rushes Rentaro to Konjou Company, where they run into Sara. Together they storm the chapel, but Iroha is not herself, and Amakusa Shiro has otherworldly Ninja Rider allies, Fuma and Kenzan, who mop the floor with outer powerless heroes. But then who should arrive but one Murasame Ryo, star of the 1982-84 series ZX, whose cyborg body prevented the mind control from affecting him, and becoming Kamen Rider ZX, he holds off the two Ninjas. Sara recognises the crystal being used by Amakusa Shiro to control everyone, and distracts him with a dance from Kurama Neon, who she's a fan of so she can shatter it, freeing everyone's minds. The Ninja Riders fight the footsoldiers, as Keiwa and Renataro grab their powers without letting their sisters see, Iroha is perfectly capable of defending herself. The 3 Ninja Riders defest their foes, and Rentaro and Keiwa confront Amakusa Shiro, who reveals he has revived Isamichi as a puppet, capable of becoming Hattari Yami. Rentaro doesn't want to fight his friend, and when he dries the gourd is dried up, but Keiwa can't help because as Kamen Rider Tycoon he needs to hold off Amakusa Shiro, transformed into Geronimo. Tycoon is defeated, but Keiwa's refusal to give up ignites a fire in Rentaro, and reactivated his powers, the in turn resonate with the Ninja Buckle, turning it into a Shinobi Buckle. They fight them all off, and their powers uniting trigger the holy ninjitsu, and restore Isamichi. ZX, Kenzan, Fuma, Tycoon and Shinobi unite and defeat Geronimo. The Legend Riders return via portal to their worlds. Isamichi seems like he's about to freak out about Iroha being in a wedding dress, but he actually remembers he died and turns back into Hattari Yami, Amakusa Shiro Tokisada grabs him and escapes. Keiwa and Sara have to return to their own world. But Rentaro and Iroha need to save Isamichi. Iroha asks why her brother is holding Shinobi's gourd, he claims the Ninja gave it to him for her, she reminds him she has no intent of succeeding. He has to save his friend, and face his enemy, in the finale next week.
info & tw: smoking, minor bullying, y/n being a baddie, fluff, kiyoko time-skip spoiler ✧*。she/her pronouns
Yankii: a Japanese subculture whose members are seen as trashy and uneducated ,, commonly rebel with altered/ customized uniforms and a tendency to fight.
• as a third year over time you've grown accustomed to weird stares and whispers,, waltzing down the hallway with leg-warmers over your tights and a baseball bat casually resting over one shoulder
• your mom fits into the yankii stereotype as a highschool dropout and teenage parent,, in fact you're from a whole line of proud yankiis 😌 your aunts practically raised you with their gyaru influence, so you have a lot of 80s/90s wardrobe hand-me-downs
• you stand on the sidelines watching practice while blowing bubblegum and smacking your glossy lips
• write every note you can think of in your hello kitty notepad (with fluffy pen obvs),, then switch to your pocket mirror to touch up your eye-shadow
• something like 'yamaguchi's float serve is coming along nicely' surrounded by hearts and cute drawings <33
• scrunchies always on your wrists to give out to long haired players or simply style kageyama's hair on the sidelines,, pinching his cheeks and chatting about who dumped who in your year while he just nods along without complaint
• normally a quick smoke before practice so you'll creep around the side of the gym and find a tired ukai already there
• the first time you joined him and offered your bedazzled Bic™ lighter he was shocked,, but now he's so accustomed to it he just raises his hand as you yell "yo, old man!"
• it's common for takeda to smack you both on the back of the heads,, leaving you both grumbling while stubbing out your ciggs before hopping on the mini-bus
• karasuno,, unfortunately,, lacks a yankii community-- shiritorizawa and aoba johsai however ‼️ you love seeing people that look like you at practice games and you'll often sneak away to hang with them
• people always assume you're mean when this is lit-rally you:
Tumblr media
• you don't back down from fights tho,, anyone badmouthing your team?? heard the asahi slander enough times?? you're rolling up your sleeves while daichi sighs,, holding his hand out to take your hoops
• you & him are the definition of "kick his ass babe I got yo flower"
• speaking of babe,, you call everyone that platonically!! Unless they're uncomfortable with it then you resort to something a little calmer like 'bro' or 'lovely' ( first time yachi heard it she fainted)
• you're very affectionate and can't help but give cheek kisses and random squeezes,, nishinoya practically floats when you praise his skills
• let's just say the first time you met atsumu he was rendered a stuttering,, flustered mess after the constant flurry of nicknames like "honey, babe, sweetheart"
• your team just glared at him as if to say "you're not special"
• and the way you can talk to people so easily as if you've been besties since you were a twinkle in your mom's eye-- futakuchi was floored when he found you and the scary iron-wall middle blocker and you sat criss cross gushing about his pet tortoise
• all in all you can get along with anyonee,, everyone adores you,, and you actually have a bright future ahead of you much to your haters' dismay 😘 stay mad and stan elle woods ya pussies
• saeko was the one to give you driving lessons and you loved every second of it,, ukai as your supervisor hated it and hurled in a plastic bag more times than he could count
• in the time-skip era you're a successful nail technician-- getting to gossip all day with customers and always drag your highschool friends over for sleepovers + manicures in your hello kitty pj's💅🏻
• you also did kiyoko's nails for her wedding 😭 and you returned the favour of kissy lips by applying a final coat of gloss before she walked down the aisle
A/N: first post,, hope you enjoy <3
Rejecting you and regretting it
genre: angst to fluff
warnings: slight cursing, rude behavior (resolved), do message me if I forgot any.
ft. sakusa kiyoomi, tsukishima kei
Tumblr media
Sakusa Kiyoomi
you're not oblivious to the fact that kiyoomi is a very conscious person
that's one of the things you loved about him
he was hygienic and he always made sure that his health was his utmost priority
but one downside is that kiyoomi had the tendency to push people away because of his straightforwardness
you were used to it and in fact, you were one of those people he tolerated
but everyone has their bad days
and unfortunately for you, today was kiyoomi's and since you were always attached to him by the hip, he unintentionally snapped at you
what's worse is that he snapped at you the moment you confessed to him
"Omi!" you shouted happily as you entered the gymnasium, giving Komori a small wave before making your way to where Kiyoomi was sitting.
He looked at you with a frown. He wasn't wearing a mask since they were training awhile ago and only took a quick break. "Y/n, what are you doing here?"
You sat beside him making Kiyoomi grimace and slightly move away. You frowned at him, completely displeased at the action. "I just wanted to give you a visit. Plus, I have something to tell you."
You started to fiddle with your fingers nervously. You practiced your confession several times already but doing it seemed harder than you thought.
"What is it? Talk, I'm not in the right mood to socialize right now."
Out of panic, you quickly blurted out a rather loud, "I like you!" You immediately covered your mouth with your hand and stared at him wide eyed.
The other players looked at you with sympathy, knowing what's about to happen. Out of all days, you really had to confess today, when Kiyoomi was in a pissy mood after several fangirls pushed themselves against him this morning, not minding his personal space.
Kiyoomi stared at you with a serious expression before standing up. "I don't like you. Leave."
"But Omi.."
"You're irritating and you always bother me when it is clear that I don't want your company." He turned around and left you on the bench, your head casted down in humiliation.
You whispered a small sorry before running out of the gym with tears falling from your eyes.
For the next few days, you did your very best to stay away from Kiyoomi. You changed your route to school knowing that your usual route meant that you have to pass by his house. Even if you got scolded several times for being late, you did not stop.
You sat near the door so you can easily exit the room after class. You even stopped eating with Komori and Kiyoomi during breaks and lunch. Even your usual routine of visiting the gym during practices was stopped.
At first, Kiyoomi didn't mind. He knew that you'd come back in a few days just like you always did. You like him after all, right?
But when a few days turned into weeks, He started getting bothered. Why weren't you pestering him like always? Why did you stop visiting him? You said you like him, right?
It was the second week that Kiyoomi took action. He woke up extra early to wait for you infront of your house, aiming to confront you about your behavior.
When you went out, your eyes widened slightly upon seeing Kiyoomi waiting for you outside. He was wearing his face mask while staring at you intently, letting you know that he purposely waited for you.
You looked down and was about to walk pass him when you felt him tugging on your wrist. Your gaze snapped to his hand, not believing that he was indeed touching your skin.
"Sakusa?"
His eye twitched at the weirdness of you not calling him like usual. Sighing, he stepped a little closer to you, hand still holding your wrist to ensure that you won't run away from him.
"You're ignoring me," he said while eyeing you. "Why?"
You took your hand from him and furrowed your brows. "I'm just doing you a favor. I don't want to be a bother anymore. Isn't this what you wanted?"
"I-"
"It's fine, Sakusa. You don't have to force yourself to apologize just because you feel bad or obliged to."
He ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. "I'm not apologizing because I feel bad."
"Then what? You're apologizing just to make fun of me? I know I said I like you but that doesn't mean that you have the right to-"
"You don't get it!"
At this point, you were both raising your voices. Some passersby were looking at you two weirdly, some even running as to not get caught up in the fight.
"Get what, Sakusa? Why don't you tell me so I can understand?!"
"I like you!" Kiyoomi exclaimed. "I... Fuck. I like you, okay? I wasn't in the mood when you confessed and I rejected you without thinking. I messed up. The moment I saw you walk out, I knew I fucked up real bad and I-"
"Om-"
"And I thought that you'd come back the next day to bother me again like usual. I wanted to apologize but my pride-"
You sighed as he continued to ramble. With fast movements, you stood on your tiptoes and encircled your arms around his neck to pull him down to you, kissing him over his mask.
When you let go, Kiyoomi was silent. His eyes were wide and you thought that you went over board. Panic made its way to your face as you try to find the words to explain.
"Sorry, I didn't me-"
This time, he was the one to cut you off. Kiyoomi took off his mask and bent down to kiss you on your lips. One of his arms snaked around your waist to support you while the other settled on your nape, angling you to him.
"Be my s/o."
Tsukishima Kei
Everyone in Karasuno knew how much you like Tsukishima
In fact, you remind him everyday
You often give him fresh strawberries from the market and even bake him strawberry cake
Sometimes, you would put little sticky notes on his belongings and write some encouraging words like "you can do it", "I believe in you" or "take it easy!"
On his birthday, you even gave him a hoodie with a dino design (which he secretly loved)
There are times that you knew Tsukishima gets irritated when you visit and even snaps at you but you didn't mind. You liked him and a small snap will not discourage you
But what you didn't know was that it would only take one conversation to completely shatter your heart
"-And they're back," Sugawara said as he saw you enter the gym, a bubbly smile present on your face as usual.
"Kei!" You skipped your way towards Tsukishima and handed him his water bottle which you voluntarily refilled with hot water.
He only gave you a 'tsk' and took the water bottle. Adjusting his glasses, he stared at you from head to toe as if analyzing you, a small blush appearing on his cheeks.
"What are you looking at? Have you finally come to realize that you like me back?" you cheekily asked, poking his bicep.
"No. I was just wondering how someone could look so ugly."
Despite what he said, you forced yourself to giggle, covering your upset feeling with an eye roll. "Oh shut up, Kei. You don't have to hide it, you know? Don't worry, I'm not going to reject you."
You winked at him causing Tsukishima to blush even more.
The rest of the boys snickered and laughed at his reaction which made Tsukishima more embarrassed than he already is.
"Just confess to the girl already, Tsukishima. Can't you see she's trying hard to win you?" Daichi said with a small chuckle while patting Tsukishima's back.
Tsukishima just huffed and pushed his glasses up. "What's there to like? They're nothing but an eyesore anyway."
"What?" you asked in disbelief.
Having a playful banter with Tsukishima was normal in your routine but this was the first time he called you such an offensive term. Does he really think of you that way?
"Oh come on, stop acting dumb. I don't even get why there are guys running after you. I mean, there's really nothing much to look at, right?"
Everyone grew quiet at what he said, clearly not expecting Tsukishima to be at such level of rudeness.
You swallowed the lump forming in your throat as your insecurity skyrocketed. "I try hard every single day to look presentable to you. I-"
You paused for a moment to laugh pathetically at yourself. "I exert a lot of effort to make you notice me. I cook for you, I give you gifts. Heck, I even stay after class to help clean the gym so that the task would be easier for you and I'm not even asking for anything in return."
Tsukishima glared at you sharply that you immediately felt extremely smaller than him. "I never asked you to do those things for me."
"Can't you at least show me that you care?" You wiped your tears with the back of your hand. "Because I'm slowly getting tired of this push and pull game."
"Don't you get it? I don't like you. Why don't you stop pushing yourself to me and start getting a life, hm?"
"Tsukishima, that's enough!" you heard Daichi yell at him.
"Y/n?" Sugawara was immediately beside you, his hand rubbing circles on your back in attempt to calm you down.
"No-" You lifted your face up to meet Tsukishima's eyes. "I think he's right. I should stop being a nuisance and focus on myself."
"I'll leave you alone. I'm sorry," you said before giving Tsukishima a bow and leaving the gym with everyone's eyes following your figure until the door shut.
Everyone could only look at Tsukishima as he cursed under his breath.
"Shit."
The moment you left the gym, you headed straight to the comfort room to let your tears out. You stared at yourself on the mirror as tears cascaded down your cheeks.
"You're beautiful," you reassured yourself while pointing at your own reflection. "What he said doesn't make you any less. Know your worth."
You wiped your tears and splashed your face with cold water before getting out and heading to class without sparing Tsukishima any glance.
You ignored Tsukishima, stopped visiting the gym and focused on yourself. You even made made friends with some of your classmates that you didn't bother getting associated with last time because you were too focused on capturing the attention of Tsukishima.
Unbeknownst to you, a certain male was eyeing you as you interact with other people. He blamed himself for pushing you away. He didn't talk to you, thinking that you only wanted space for a couple days before bothering him again.
He knew that what he said was out of line and he regret everything he did. He even asked Yamaguchi and the rest of the team for advice but all of them responded with the same answer - apologize and tell you how he feels.
Tsukishima gripped the pen tightly as he watched you laughing at something your classmate said. The said classmate was too close to you and it was obvious that he was trying to flirt with you.
"Tsukki?" Yamaguchi called out. He followed Tsukishima's gaze and sighed. "Why don't you go and talk to them?"
"Tsk. Why would I do that? Can't you see they're enjoying his company?" Tsukishima bitterly said.
"You'll end up losing them if you don't do something about it now. Who knows, they might already be lo-" Yamaguchi stopped as Tsukishima instantly stood up and made his way to where you are.
Taking your wrist, he pulled you towards him, heading out of the classroom.
"Tsukishima, what the hell?!" You tried to resist but his grip on your wrist only tightened.
You gasped as he suddenly stopped, trapping you against a wall with his arms beside your head.
"I'm sorry." Tsukishima closed his eyes, balling his fist as he bowed his head. "I said hurtful words to you and no amount of apology will take those away but I want you to know that I regret every single one of it."
You bit your lower lip as you felt yourself tearing up once again. "Do you really think that I'm ugly? I was hurt, Kei. It's just.."
"I'm sorry." His hand made its way to your cheek, cupping your face while he wiped your tears with his thumb. "You're not ugly."
You shook your head and averted your gaze from him, a sob escaping your lips as you felt yourself falling for him deeper. "Don't. Just stop. I'll accept your apology but please just leave me be. I won't be able to stop my feelings for you if you keep leading me on."
"But I don't want you to stop."
"What?"
"I've fallen for you." He tipped your chin up with his hand making you look at him and you were surprised to see the vulnerability in his features. "Please look at me again, y/n. Keep loving me because I swear that I'll do things different this time. Give me a chance."
You can't help but encircle your arms around him, burrying your face on the side of his neck as you nodded repeatedly. "One chance, Kei."
Tsukishima hugged you tightly, lips pressing on the side of your head. "One chance." He leaned away from you and held your face with his hand, eyes boring to yours admiringly.
"You're beautiful."
GODDESS
haikyuu third years x fem! y/n
context : sugawara , daichi , asahi , have a big crush on a certain girl. the problem begins to start when it’s a love battle between the three on who can win her heart first.
who will succeed?!
— this is a oneshot republished from my wattpad account
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
the third years watched from a distance the beautiful girl walk by, her flawless face being illuminated by the sun and the calming winding giving a flow and pushing the hair out of her face.
the three sighed happily, feeling cheered up by her presence. " she's gorgeous.." muttered Sugawara,, while the other two males only nodded in agreement.
" n-no she's an angel.." asashi said, his face showing a visible tint of pink on its cheeks.
" no, she's a goddess.." murmured daichi.
coincidentally, the boys came to have a crush on the same girl. the girl being you,, the three constantly would have their arguments over who you liked bettered and what you preferred.
. . .
" she likes tulips!" sugawara said, clutching the flowers tightly. he glared at his fellow teammates while Daichi only shook his head.
" no, it's roses." daichi retorted, carefully holding the flowers in his hands, careful not to hurt any of them.
" I-i saw her admiring some petunias the other day.." asahi said, quietly as he noticed both of his teammates glare daggers at each other.
he out of the three being more calmer about his inevitable crush towards you.
...
arguments like those happened in a regular basis every now and then.
each one of them trying their best to win your heart, but you.. well being you, were completely oblivious of their crushes towards you, you only saw it as a friendly way of them being kind to you.
one day,, you overheard that the boys volleyball team had won against seijoh and were going against shiratorizawa next.
Some students had decided to stay after school just to congratulate the boys and wish them luck for the upcoming game.
you personally wanted to congratulate face to face. you left the classroom and grabbed your bags and rushed to the boys gym.
you heard voices and chattering from a distance already,, as you got closer you only began to walk slower and slower.
you peeked inside and saw the boys sitting in a circle gathered around their coach. seeming they were discussing something for the game tomorrow.
your friend, shimizu notice you standing in the door way and she made her way over to you.
" oh y/n, is there anything I could help you with.?" shimizu said, pushing her glasses up and waiting for your answer.
" a-ah yes, shimizu-san.. I actually wanted to congratulate the boys personally for their victory for today and I wanted to wish them luck for tomorrow as well. do you mind if I.. take a minute of two to speak with them?"
you smiled, and she only nodded in return
" give me a second." She replied, and went over to the coach and whispered to him. you notice him nod and wave over to you to come.
the team's attention went you and three particular boys started to blush madly by your presence.
each one of them thinking the same exact thing.
what's she doing here?
you stood in front of them and turned to bow at the coach, as an apology for interrupting.
as you looked at the team,, you smiled a bit before starting to speak.
" I wanted to congratulate you for today's win, I know seijoh was a tough opponent but I had faith that you'd win, and you did. each one of you has a amazing talent which contributes into the team. I hope you keep on and soar high. show those shiratorizawa boys what you're made of!"
you grinned,, everyone stayed quiet before saying thank you and giving you their signature 'yeah!' as a team.
but as for three certain boys, their faces were as red as it has ever been. they knew that the message and congratulations was for the whole team. but as for them, they couldn't stop thinking about the fact that it was you.
You bowed again, and left the gym and the coach started to speak again about the plans.
sugawara raised his hand to speak, and granted permission. he asked if he could be excused for a bit.
receiving the nod and 'yeah' from the coach, he stood up and walked after you. the other two third years only stared at him, what was he planning to do..? oh.
" H-hey y/n, wait up!" he said, slightly waving as a signal and you turned around and raised an eyebrow.
" oh hey sugawara, is there anything you need?" you asked, placing your bag down for a moment to fix your uniform.
" o-oh yeah, well I wanted to thank you for that message of encouragement. It means a lot to us as seijoh was a tough opponent and going up against shiratorizawa right after that.. is going to be really hard if you get what I mean. but I have faith—"
he started to ramble but you stopped him, you reached out and held his hands together making him lose his train of thought.
he looked up and looked surprised by your actions.
" sugawara, don't worry. you'll do fine, I believe in you and everyone else. think positive, and the outcome will be shocking. trust me, okay?"
you said, letting go of his hands to pick up your bag. and began to walk away, he stood there dumbfounded by what had just happened .
Finally figuring out what to do, he bowed and said..
" Thank you, l/n-san!" he blurted out, the same blush from earlier reappearing on his cheeks ( his face ones y'all- )
You have a simple small nod before smiling at him,, " it's no problem! good luck."
His blush deepened and he stood back up nonchalantly. he couldn't believe that had just happened.
His hands stayed in the same position in which you held them by, clearly he didn't want to do anything but recall that moment—
" Hey Suga, the meeting ended, where did you-" Daichi asked, meeting up beside the setter who still maintain the same position.
Asahi, followed right behind and stood on the other side of sugawara.
" uhh suga-?"
" she held my hand.." he finally spoke, as for most it a small happy sigh came at the end of his sentence.
" Huh-.. you did not-" Daichi began to argue but was stopped by the gray haired third year.
" N-no! but she.. she told me to think positive and that the outcome will come out shocking. she held my hand as she said that, it was quiet lovely-" the setter murmured, as the scenario replayed in his head.
But little did he know that those words were enough to make both of his teammates jealous.
" O-oh sorry for going on like tha—" suga nervously chuckled but before he could finish his sentence.
Both of his teammates were slowly walking closer to him,, suga took a step back and furrowed his eyebrows.
" If you wanted someone to hold your hands suga, you could've just said so." Daichi said, before asahi added something to that.
" I could hold your hands.."
And with that being said, both teammates were trying to hold sugawaras hands.
" H-hey! You'll throw away her scent.." sugawara said, raising his hands in attempt to keeping them away from his teammates.
They continued on before being yelled at by their coach and told them to come clean up to head home.
Though even still, in their eyes.. you were a goddess.
“Looking back from where we started, we’ve really come together. Before, we were just a bunch of high schoolers with a passion to play on a club team—now we’re a team. A real team. We’ve come together; we have a bond like no other. At the spring tournament, we’re going to show everyone that bond! Together, we will fight, and we will win!” Daichi cheered loudly, encouraging his team to stand up and come together for a chant.
“Fight!”
The spring tournament was still a little far in the future, but it was sure to take them over before they knew it. Since the training camp, each player had a new individual skill they wanted to work on. Once the team broke apart, they all grabbed a one or two balls to fine tune their skills. What before was just a few players staying after practice, was now all of them. They separated out the gym and took advantage of the walls and their managers that were eager to toss balls to them; some even took turns going outside to practice.
They were starting to put their skills together, making one well-oiled machine. However, Suga didn’t grab a ball like he normally would. Instead, he went towards his bag and began to pack up—and it didn’t go unnoticed.
“Suga is leaving?” Hinata tugged on Kageyama's sleeve and pointed in Suga’s direction.
Kageyama pushed the hand off his shoulder and shrugged. “Looks like it. Don't worry about it now. Go work on your spiking while I work on positions. I’m gonna get this toss perfect before I let you try to hit it.”
Hinata nodded understandingly. If it was one thing he knew about Kageyama, it was that he wouldn't do anything that would bring their acceleration to a halt. Hinata kept a close eye on Suga. Suga was constantly checking his phone, typing a few messages here and there as he packed up.
However, Hinata wasn't the only one hindered and dazed by his actions. Tanaka sprinted towards Suga, stopping just before knocking him over. “Where do you think you’re going? We’re so close to nailing the synchronized attack!”
“I think it's pretty obvious that I’m going home,” Suga explained, tucking his volleyball shoes in his backpack and started to put on his outside shoes at the gym doors.
“You can't leave! We need our setter! What could be more important than-”
Daichi cut Tanaka off, “Practice is over. He doesn't need to stay. If he wishes to go home then he can go home. In the meantime we can work on some receives.”
“Alright!” Tanaka dropped the question and went over to Asahi, who was hitting against the wall.
Daichi waited for everyone to be out of ear range and placed a hand on the back of Suga’s shoulder. “If you need to take a personal day tomorrow, you’re more than welcome to. The spring tournament is getting everyone's edge.” Suga quietly smiled and looked down for a second, debating if it was worth bringing up. It was Daichi after all, the only person he could talk to about it. “y/n told me earlier that she was feeling sick today. She took some medicine and went to school but…”
“But you’re worried. Nothing is wrong with that,” Daichi assured. “I get worried all the time when you guys are feeling sick. Go take care of her, Suga. Will you be at practice tomorrow?”
“I’ll be back tomorrow. Like I said, she went to school but I could tell she wasn’t feeling well. She tends to not take getting sick seriously, so I wanna make sure she doesn't get any worse.”
A faint knock echoed in your room. You had turned off the overhead light, but left the lamp on, softly illuminating the room like a comforting cave. The dim lights made you feel relaxed and took strain away from your eyes.
“Who is it?” You called in a near whisper.
The door slowly opened up. Suga kept his hand on the door knob and waved at you. His smile, that welcoming smile that made you feel like you were at home wherever you were, greeted you.
“It’s just me,” He replied. “Is it okay if I come in?”
“Suga…” You whined. “Did you really skip practice to come over? I told you I was okay. A little cold hasn’t killed me.”
“Practice ended a while ago, I only stayed for the coaches and Daichi’s feedback.”
You rubbed your palm against your forehead, running it down your cheek and neck. You knew you should have never told Suga that you had to take medicine this morning for your sore throat and headache. When you woke up this morning, you noticed how you were snuggled tightly to your sheets, but your body was cold to the touch. You had no clue where it came from, but the pounding in your head told you that you were sick. But you weren’t the nonfunctioning, stay in bed and rot all day sick; you just had a little cold. Everyone gets them from time to time. You haven't had one in a while; it was inevitable that you would get one soon.
“No one else left, didn't they?” You asked. There was an underlying disappointment to your tone. You tried to cover it up, but it was hard to suppress that guilt you felt. This was Karasuno’s year, they were going to win it all, and yet you took one of their third years away from them. You told Suga time and time again that you were fine and that the medicine was doing wonders, but he couldn't stay away.
“They have other skills to work on, they don't need me for those.” He tried to wash your worries and guilt away, but it just wasn't enough. “I thought you said coach was going to work you into being a substitute server. You should be in that gym right now, with your teammates, working on your serves and attacks. Being here with me isn't helping you, especially when I’ve been fully functioning.” Suga sighed and shut the door behind him. He walked over and sat on the edge of your bed next to you and put his phone on the nightstand. “I worked myself hard in practice today. If I overwork my body, then I won't play at all. Having rest is good, especially if it's rest with you,” he added.
You turned to your side, glancing up at him. His eyes remained soft and stared back into yours like he was holding them safe. As much as you didn't want to admit it, but his presence alone did more magic than that medicine ever did. You didn't notice at first, but the second you heard his voice you relaxed deeper into your sheets. Your once pounding head turned into a barely noticeable tapping feeling. “So why are you here?” you questioned.
“To make sure you’re taking good care of yourself. I could go on one of my lectures about how important keeping up with medicine, cleaning up, laying down, and not thinking too hard is what you need, but I know you too well. Just because I say you should do it doesn't mean that you will. I wanted to come here and well—” he interrupted himself with a blush starting to form on his cheeks. You smiled contentedly to yourself. “—I just wanted to take care of you, put you to sleep better than when you woke up.”
Although he couldn't see it, you were internally gushing. His heart, his passion, his empathy, it was all yours; only yours. He could've gone anywhere else tonight: his home, the gym, the convenience store, but he chose to come to you. But not because you asked him to, but because he wanted to. “Suga…” you awed out, but was interrupted by a brief cough.
“See?” Suga swiped your hair out of your face, resting his palm and fingertips against your forehead. “That’s why I’m here, to make that go away.” He held your head in his hand, rubbing his thumb over your hairline. He pressed a soft kiss to your forehead, smiling down at you. Suga smoothed your hair down, making sure you were comfortable. His hand remained on your forehead, soft and warm. “Do you want more blankets? You feel a little chill.”
You shook your head, which caused his hand to fall onto the mattress below. “I told you I’m fine. The room is dark and the sun has set, it's not going to be the normal temp you’re used to. I’m good, really.”
Suga glanced over at your nightstand and noticed the bottle that fell on its side next to a scrunched up tissue. “How long ago did you take these?”
“Before I left for school.”
He held the bottle close to his face and peeled back the label and read the dosage suggestions underneath it. Using his phone he checked the time. Upon seeing it he sighed and grabbed the bottle by the lid, undoing the safety lock. He tapped the bottle twice, allowing two pills to fall into his hand. “Do you have water?”
You rolled your eyes, “I don't need any more medicine. I told you I took some earlier.”
Suga found the water bottle next to the bed leg beneath him. He brought it up and took off the cap, placing it next to the other red one. “It says two pills every ten hours, it's been well over that. Drink up,” he demanded, not leaving any room for questions.
You pushed his hand away, “If I feel fine then there’s no need for me to take any more medication. I went to school just fine today and made it back here safe. I don't need more medication.” “You probably made it through the day because you took the pills in the morning,” Suga explained. “They kicked in by the time you got to school. y/n, you look weak right now. You didn't use as much force as you normally would to push me away. Just please take the damn medicine, it's not going to kill you if you don't really need it.”
“Will you shut up if I take them?”
“Only about the importance of taking medicine. I didn't come here just to get you to take medicine. I want to rest and spend some time with you.”
You sighed and used your arms to push you up into a seated position. Reaching behind you, you grabbed onto the soft pillow and leaned it against the bed frame. You scooted back into the pillow and put your hand atop of Suga’s, grabbing the two round pills. The pills fell into the back of your tongue, edging you to swallow them. You gestured at Suga to hand the water over. He watched intently as you dipped your head back and brought the head of the water bottle to your lips. Just as you were about to pour some in, you coughed once again, which caused the water to miss your mouth and dribble down your cheek.
You huffed out, annoyed at how weak you felt. A comforting hand held your jawline, sliding across to your chin and cleaning the water off. You looked at Suga, who was biting his bottom lip.
“Don’t you dare laugh.”
“I’m not go—” The second he released his lip from his teeth, he started to laugh. He tried to suppress it by talking, but that only led to a full laugh.
As much as you tried to hate it, you just couldn't. Suga had the most adorable laugh, even when you are mad at him. He closed his eyes, knowing that if he saw your reaction he would only laugh more and get you riled up. He brought his closed fist to his lips and forced it shut, muffling his adorable heaves.
“You’re an asshole.”
“I’m your asshole.” Suga took the water back from you and brought his other hand to your chin. He took a deep breath, calming himself down, before using his finger to tilt your head back. His hand followed the outline of your neck to the back of your head, supporting it as he brought the water to your lips. “Open up~” he teased.
Without moving your head, you looked away. “I can take my own medicine. Stop babying me.”
“I wasn't going to baby you until you failed miserably at drinking water. It’s just water, nothing to be scared of.”
He already had you this far into the palms of his hands, there wasn't much room to run away now. You looked back at him and nodded. He smiled and dipped the water forwards. He knew you so well it shocked you. He poured a little in at first, making sure that the water didn't take you by surprise, then allowed the effortless flow into your mouth and drew back. You swallowed the pills with ease—much easier than you would have on your own.
“There you go…” Suga cooed at you. He twisted the cap back on and placed it back in the night stand. “Scoot over.”
“No, no, no. You’re going to get sick. You said you were putting me to bed. I have taken the medicine and I will now go to bed. Make sure you shut the lamp off before you leave.” You scooted back down the bed, laying down and turning away from him.
Two hands gripped your side and pushed you over, causing you to roll onto your stomach. Your hand hit the mattress and you pushed yourself up. “What was that for!?”
Suga pulled the blanket back before turning off the light. He grabbed the pillow you used earlier for your back and laid it next to the one that you were using. “I told you to scoot over.”
“What the hell? Get out of my bed before you catch my cold! You can't be sick and miss practice!”
He grabbed your wrist gently and pulled you on top of him, your leg brushing against his below you. Instinctively, you buried your face into his neck and gripped onto his shoulders, tracing his collarbone with your fingers. You didn't mean to get this close with him, but it was what your body wanted.
“I will once you’re asleep, I promise,” Suga whispered to you. He brought one hand to your back, soothing it from built up tension as the other played with your hair.
There was no complaining; just like him you also wanted this. You loved the feeling of his fingers brushing against your head and down your spine at the same time. Nothing in the world could ever compare to the safety and compassion you felt in this moment. “Thank you,” you whispered to him. It was soft; you weren't sure if he heard it, but he squeezed you tighter to him.
“Go to sleep, I promise I’ll be right here.” One last time, he pulled the hair out of your face and pressed a gentle kiss to your temple.
Just like that, you were out. The last thing you remembered was smiling to yourself with how happy and content he made you feel. Suga stroked your hair while you slept. He knew he told you that he would leave right away, but he just wanted to stay, just for a little longer. He found peace while you slept on him, trusting him with everything you had. Just as he was about to get up and leave, his phone lit up. A ding sounded. He looked back down at you, making sure you didn't stir. Once he was sure your sleep wasn't interrupted, he turned his attention to his phone.
Suga debated if looking at the notification was worth it. On one hand, it might be Daichi, which means that it would be important. But on the other hand, y/n looked so comfortable. Could he really risk moving and waking them up? He decided it was better to check to see if it was Tadashi. There was a chance that something happened during practice, like a new skill or rotation. He reached his arm out, his fingertips shuffling the phone into his hands. It was a snapchat, from…Tadashi?
That's weird. Suga thought to himself. It wasn't like Tadashi to privately message him.
He tapped the red box:
Tumblr media
Suga felt his pupils dilate when the timer hit zero. There was no way in hell that anyone knew besides Daichi…right? He always made sure that he was careful about when he texted back, and he made sure that he didn't stare at y/n more than the normal person would.
Going with his gut, Suga decided that it might have just been a lucky guess. y/n doesn't even go to his games, there's no way he connected the dots that easily. He held his phone up to the blank wall in front of him:
Tumblr media
Suga was still on edge. Sure, Tadashi was observant, but there’s no way he picked up on his relationship. He thought he’d covered his tracks pretty well…right?
Tadashi’s response proved him wrong:
Tumblr media
“Oh shit,” Suga mouthed to himself. That first year really was more observant than he first thought. He thought for sure that no one took that way to the gym—it was on the other end of the school. Well, he has been showing up to practice later than normal. Normally, he was one of the first ones there unless a teacher stopped him. Maybe seeing you more often drew him out of the reality that he was not being as nonchalant as he thought.
If Tadashi noticed his changes, did anyone else? Suga thought. Maybe Asahi? We’ve played together for a long time. He would be the only other person. And Daichi wouldn't tell anyone else.
Before Suga could form a reply, another snap appeared:
Tumblr media
Suga sighed in relief. Out of everyone on the team—besides Daichi—Tadashi was the only one he could trust. He felt that everyone would make a big deal out of it; he was the only one with a girlfriend after all. He sees the way that everyone reacts when the captain of the girl’s team talks to Diachi, he didn't want y/n to get overwhelmed by them.
Thinking about it, Suga almost laughed. Hinata would lose his shit, jumping up and down and doing laps out of excitement. He would be supportive, but he would also try to talk too much. Tanaka would be basically drooling; y/n might even steal his attention away from the managers—not that they would care anyways. Tadashi is able to stay quiet, and he’s clearly known for a long time and hasn’t said anything to the others yet. Suga felt his heart warm a little at the new found trust he has with him.
The corner of his mouth raised when he looked down at y/n. He might have some crazy teammates, but they were good teammates nonetheless. y/n has been dying to go to a game; maybe the spring tournament was a good time to bring her along? Of course he would have to convince his coaches to let her on the bus—they did have one spare seat. And maybe a lecture to his teammates about boundaries would need to be in place too. The thought of bringing y/n excited Suga. Overwhelmed with happiness, he held her back a little tighter. Not enough to wake her up, but just enough to remind her in her sleep that he was still there with her.
Tadashi already knew, so there was no need to hide it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Suga sighed and smiled at how relaxed you felt in his arms. He could tell that he was helping you feel better. “I really am a simp, huh?” he whispered.
karasuno boys as boyfriends
a/n: im just basically astral projecting myself into these situations; ALSO if you want more detailed ones, just ask, and you shall receive! (also this is my first post i’ve written on here! but if you want plenty of kpop content i’m @hyucksong where i’ve been writing and I am still active! :))
---
[KARASUNO BOYS AS BOYFRIENDS HEADCANNONS]
-tsukishima, yamaguchi, hinata, kageyama, tanaka, nishinoya, sugawara, daichi, and asahi
---
tsukishima kei.
the type to look you straight in your eyes when you ask for a hug and say “no, who do you think i am, your boyfriend?”
runs his hands through your hair from the front and then when his hand reaches the back of your head he pulls you into him and kisses you either on the forehead or the lips <3
in order to be in a relationship with him you HAVE to have the same type of humor.
i don’t think he could date someone who doesn’t make fun of people with him
you guys are like best friends who make fun of each other and. make out a little every once in a while
he’ll hold your hand and hug you in public but he will NEVER do anything else, especially not in front of the boys
he thinks the blush that ignites on your kissable cheeks should be for his eyes only
he gave you a keychain that had a cute little strawberry shortcake on it. and it’s your most prized possession
will shoot a glare at anyone who watches you too closely. like no. don’t get googly eyed over MY girlfriend.
and you don’t have a problem with that ;)
yamaguchi tadashi.
he likes to watch you when you’re not looking to pick out the little habits you do
he thinks that knowing someone’s little hardly noticeable habits is one of the most intimate things on mother earth
he knows that you stir the milk in the bowl three times before you pour the cereal in to check for chunks because you accidentally drank spoiled milk when you were younger
NEVER has an issue getting you a gift for any occasion. he ALWAYS knows what you’re looking at and what you want and you lowkey think he can read your mind but in reality he just pays attention <3
you’re either just as shy as him to bring out his more assertive side or more assertive than he is to bring out his more timid side -- both are good
kisses you on the forehead and holds your hand in public -- he loves PDA because he can show you off :’)
yes. he kisses the back of your nape in public. so what.
YES. HE CLOSES HIS EYES WHEN HE DOES IT AND ACCIDENTALLY INHALES YOUR SCENT AND WHISPERS IN YOUR EAR THAT YOU SMELL GOOD. IDC IF YOU THINK THAT’S CREEPY. IT’S CUTE. YES. HE GIVES YOU THAT LOOK THAT SAYS HE’S CRAZILY IN LOVE WITH YOU. SO WHAT.
kageyama tobio.
he probably fell in love with you because you were just as passionate about something else as he is about volleyball; music, drawing, writing, math, science, reading -- whatever
i see this relationship as being one that’s like...accelerated friends. like,,, you act like him and hinata except you kiss sometimes and he can see you at the end of the wedding aisle
DEFINITELY reads cosmopolitans once you start dating because he wants to be a good boyfriend for you <3
PDA is literally little to NONe,,, not because he doesn’t like it...it’s just because he doesn’t realize that he’s not showing you affection lololol
like in one arm he has his athletic duffel bag and the other he has a volleyball
he doesn’t mean to neglect you he just does AGAGAG
realized he liked you when he thought about you when he was drinking his milk and mindlessly bought you one too
the first time y’all kissed. he literally stared at you so intensely for a SOLID ten minutes debating in his head whether or not he should just go for it or wait or just smash his face into yours and hope your lips connect
he chose to cross his fingers and ended up smashing his forehead and nose into yours
it was cute tho <3
hinata shoyo.
YALL HAVE DATES WHERE YOU BABYSIT HIS SISTER. WTF SO CUTE
when yall cuddle and you’re the little spoon he likes to put his head on your shoulder/between your neck and watch as you scroll through tiktok or instagram and just mindlessly talk about his day
the type of boyfriend where neither of you can cook and you both confusedly look at recipes on google like: ????? wtf is the difference between brown sugar and regular sugar
it’s his INSTINCT to hold your hand. no matter what. his hand just...gravitates to yous.
AND HIS LIPS JUST FIND YOUR CHEEK??? like it’s so natural to him to kiss your cheek when he sees you, even in public. it’s so adorable i--
THE TYPE OF GUY TO WIPE OFF FOOD FROM THE CORNER OF YOUR MOUTH AND STILL EAT IT AND SAY “you taste good!~” AND NOT EVEN REALIZE WHAT HE SAID. BUT WHEN YOU DO IT TO HIM HE BLOWS A FUSE
he loves to tickle you. like you’ll be vibing, drinking whatever you drink in the morning and he’ll come up to you all casually and kiss you cheek...and then he’ll pounce
he holds you close to his chest when he tickles you, partally because he likes feeling your laugh vibrate on his chest, and partially because it’s easier to not get tickled if he’s right behind you
his sister LOVes you and it just. makes him so happy
tanaka ryuunosuke.
you CANNOT remove his hand from your ass. it is permanently glued there. it is attached to you. yes, even in public.
number 1 hypeman! he will always support you, no matter what! you could be in a competition to raise the biggest beetle and he’ll be there rooting you on and staying up late with you as you rear your award-winning beetle
you two lay next to each other on the couch/on his bed and he’ll have his arm around you and you’ll lay your head on his chest as you watch netflix shows
YOU, NISHINOYA, AND TANAKA? UNSTOPPABLE TRIO. POWER TRIPLET.
i don’t imagine him being shy when he first kisses you; the first time he kissed you, you were literally just. existing and he literally just...couldn’t hold it in...and he just went for it
literally CATAPULTS himself into you and kisses you senseless
yes you and saeko are besties she gives you ALL the tea about young tanaka
the type to take off his shirt more during practice if you’re there watching, and literally BURN red if you mention anything about his muscles
you once traced a vein in his arm and commented on how hot it was and he literally short-circuited
kiss his biceps. kiss his abs. kiss his cheek. please. it’s all he wants. he’s touch-starved
nishinoya yuu.
SUCH an excited boyfriend
like he seriously gets so hype doing ANYTHING with you pleaSE give this man an award. you’ll be at the amusement park and the line to get into a ride will be three hours and he’ll be like
“I get to spend three hours with you?!! fucking sick! absolutely radical!”
he’s bold in public, but only because he wants to rub you in his teammates faces, but his ears will be Red
at home, he’s calmer :) he just loves to spend time with you, even if you’re sitting on a bench watching him practice receives for five hours straight in the blazing sun.
he just treasures your time so much, you treats you like a precious gem -- he will NEVER treat you wrong. deadass has no problem admitting when he’s wrong -- but if he thinks he’s right then he WILL stand his ground
he’s a passionate man, who loves just as passionately.
his favorite time to kiss you is after you’ve taken a sip of a soda because he likes the taste of the syrup and the burn of the carbonation, but most of all because he likes the taste of your lips in combination with all of them
NIPS AT YOUR EAR. DEADASS JUST LOOKS AT YOU BRUSH A PIECE OF HAIR BACK WHEN YOU’RE DOING HOMEWORK AND IS LIKE “free real estate” AND C H O MPS
the day nishinoya told everyone yall were dating, kiyoko stopped you in the hallway and deadass got on her knees and thanked you LITERALLY she was like “i’ll buy you anything. give the word and it’ll be yours.”
sugawara koushi.
would kiss you on the first date. deadass. he’ll just drop you off at your doorstep and you’re still high on adrenaline, and you’re lowkey hoping he’ll kiss you and you get  little disappointed when he doesn’t and then when you least expect it. bam. his lips on yours
his smell oh god, he literally smells like fresh sugar cookies. it’s like as soon as you get anywhere near him his smell just invades you nose and. you’re powerless. you just wanna hug him
never smells bad. try me, bitch. NEVER.
his hugs are literally god’s gifts. he loves hugging you. he just completely envelopes you with his pretty setter arms and his smell takes up all the space in your head and nothing else exists for that moment, just you two
loves tucking your hair behind your ears or just moving it out of your face; doing homework and your bangs are in the way? not for long because he’ll clip them up for you <3
he’s pretty mischievous and will playfully put his hand next to your head and lean down with such a HOT look in his eyes
and he’ll say some shit like “i wanna devour you” and then he’ll laugh afterwards and give you a kiss on the forehead and you’re standing there. like -.- o.o -.- o.o
whenever he feels insecure about his position on the team, you’re always there to comfort him and he’ll just lay between your legs and rest his face on your stomach as you comb your fingers through his hair and scroll through tiktok
PDA? yes please. uh huh. mhmm. he doesn’t care who sees his love for you he just wants to love on you baby. kisses you on the lips, no problemo
daichi sawamura.
you and suga are the only ones who can scare him when yall are mad lol
boyfriend where you’ve dated for like a year but it feel like 50 have already passed. in a good way!
this relationship is so ungodly domestic. like from the first day it’s just pure comfort and he’s like your rock and you’re his anchor
you two bicker a lot but it’s lighthearted and you just feel so secure with him that poking fun at him and at yourself is just natural
daichi. gives. god. hugs. he does. it’s fact.
his arms are just so big and he has so much body warmth and he probably smells like some bullshit cologne like “smoldering woods” and it’s just so. daichi
you two spend the night at each other’s house so often it’s like you already live with each other and people always forget that you don’t lolol
totally sleeps with his shirt off and only with underwear. isn’t awkward about it either;  when he wakes up he puts on sweats but still remains topless (not that you’re complaining)
you two are like. the strict parental couple, when you walk together whether it be down the street or in the hallways, you just look so right for each other it’s. mind blowing
doesn’t mind kissing you a little in public but really thinks that stuff should be for private; so normally he just kisses your temple and always has an arm either around your shoulder or around your waist
WHEN THE TEAM SEES YOU KISS ON THE LIPS THEY GO “EW” EVEN SUGA AND ASAHI AFIEFHEWIF
asahi azumane.
literal fucking teddy bear. god please cuddle him. please kith him. please comb through his hair with your fingers and kiss his nape and kiss the back of his head. please i beg of you.
did NOT ask you out first. he wrote love letter to you and then waiting behind the gym because he thought being near the volleyball gym would give him some luck and them you got in front of him and he was. deer in the headlights
needless to say you asked him out and kissed his cheek. he DIED
even once yall are comfortable in the relationship he still needs reassurance every once in a while because he’s a little insecure, not that you’ll leave him for someone else, but that he’s not good enough
his PDA skill are. subpar. he usually just holds your hand and that’s it, but sometimes kisses the corner of your eye or nose and you just combust
OH RIOGEH TOTALLY DOES BUTTERFLY AND BUNNY KISSES. YES GOD YESSSSS
when yall cuddle he doesn’t like spooning. he likes to be able to see your face and the expressions you make, so doesn’t like being the little or big spoon; yall face each other and just lets your head lay on his arm even tho it’s numb. im: soft
kisses are so sweet, slow, and hesitant. he doesn’t really kiss you often because he has terrible timing but...when he does it’s like the whole world just becomes still in that moment and nothing matters but his hands on your waist and yours in his hair
Haikyuu Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tsukishima had only looked away for a moment. He walked towards a fresh fruit stand, glancing at the peaches and wondering if you wanted one to snack on on the way home. He glanced back and his lips parted to ask you, but you were no where to be seen.
His lips turned into a frown, trying not to give into that small moment of panic as his eyes scanned the outside market. You were no where to be found nearby. His heart pulsed harder against his chest as his mind reminded him of that news story of girls going missing in public places. Tsukishima pushed through people, giving half-assed apologies as he thought about you being dragged away and no one noticing. How had he not noticed? How would he find you? What should he do now?
His heart raced as he continued to look for you, giving out a small yelp when he felt someone grab his hand.
“Tsukki?” You were suddenly next to him, smiling innocently up at him. “Are you okay?”
The rush of relief that came with seeing you next to him was followed with frustration. “Idiot! Where did you wander off to?” He scolded, his hand tightening on yours.
“There was a puppy,” you admitted with slight embarrassment, smiling shyly. “I just gave him a couple of pats - he looked so lonely. Everyone was ignoring him,” you explained, nodding towards an older man who was dozing off on a bench. He had a leash in his hand and a large dog sat next to his feet, eagerly watching people was if begging for someone to pet him.
Tsukishima shook his head in disbelief, “You scared me for a dog? Moron,” he grumbled, pulling you further into the market. He didn’t want to be in such a big crowd right now.
You giggled, trying not to note the redness in his ears, “Aw I’m sorry Tsukki, I didn’t mean to scare you.” You tugged on his arm gently, trying to give him an apologetic smile but he kept looking away from you.
“Whatever, get yourself lost for all I care,” he pouted slightly and you tried your best not to laugh at how such a tall boy could act like a 4 year old.
“I’ll stay with you, promise. Won’t ever leave your side!” you insisted, clutching his arm and beaming up at him.
Tsukishima glanced at your smile, noticing it looked... almost playful? “What?” He raised an eyebrow, already knowing he wasn’t going to like the answer.
“You care about me,” you teased, reaching up to poke his nose playfully. “You were worried about me because you careeee about me.” You had expected him to pull his arm away, stomp off until you apologized for making fun of him.
But instead he just rolled his eyes, flicking your forehead gently, “Maybe just a bit.”
That surprised you just a little, your heart skipping a beat or two in response, “I am sorry, Tsukki, I didn’t think I went off that far. It just got really crowded,” you told him sincerely, squeezing his hand gently. “But lucky for me! You’re so tall so it’s easy to find you!”
Tsukishima scoffed some more but blushed anyways, feeling now like he had overreacted, “Whatever. You’re buying me a snack to make it up to me, idiot.”
“Mmkay!” You beamed, the two of you roaming the market together. Tsukishima pretended like he had completely forgotten the whole thing, but you noticed that he never let go of your hand that easily after that. And he always kept you close in crowded areas.
So yeah, maybe Tsukishima Kei really did care for you.
Daichi is a calm cool collected dude. Calm. Cool. Collected. It was as if he was chanting these words in his brain, eyes frantically trying to find you. CALM COOL COLLECTED, he desperately tried to remind himself. Everything is FINE.
But that still didn’t answer the question: where the hell could you have gone off to?
It was one of the first big matches that Daichi ever invited you too and the crowds were 10x bigger than anything you’ve been to. Daichi’s whole body trembled with the idea that you were completely lost and waiting for him to find you.
“I’m sure she’s alright, Daichi! Y/N’s probably just exploring,” Asahi clapped a hand onto his friend’s shoulder, though Daichi could tell he was nervous too.
“Stop being such worry-bums,” Suga insisted, smacking both of their arms. “Y/N can be as scary as the rest of us! No one would pick on her!”
You were fully capable of dealing with things yourself, Daichi knew this. But he felt a surge of protective energy anytime he felt you needed him. “I’ll be right back,” he mumbled to his friends, his feet quickly running around the gyms to try and catch a glimpse of you.
“Daichi!” Your voice made his eyes widen, darting around to try to find you. Suddenly, he was attacked with a full on jump hug, staggering backwards to keep them upright.
“Y-Y/N! Where’ve you been?” Daichi asked with a laugh, holding you tightly and trying to avoid showing you how nervous he was.
“Coach Ukai told me Hinata left his shoes in the bus so I went to grab it before the game! Shimizu-san and Yachi were both busy so I wanted to help!” You explained, smiling up at him while holding the little bag up for him to see. Your eyes flickered over Daichi’s for a moment, noting the slight blush on his cheeks and the way he couldn’t fully meet your gaze. You couldn’t help but let out a giggle, your lips turning into a little smirk, “Were you worried about me, Daichi?” You teased and laughed as his face turned even more red.
“Well I can’t win without my lucky charm on the stands,” he chuckled, ruffling your hair.
“Oh and I just thought you liked me,” Y/N shot back with a laugh. “Didn’t know it was just cause of your game.”
You turned on your heel, starting to walk back to the gym, Daichi following while stammering out a, “I-I do liked you!” He tried to laugh off his nerves, rubbing the back of his neck as he gave you a smile, “Don’t make me all nervous before a game, love!”
You two shared some more laughs as everyone warmed up, and just before you headed to the stands, you pressed a quick kiss to his cheek. Daichi tried to play it off cool but he was wobbly the whole walk towards the team and the group of boys just laughed, all slapping his back in pride.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unlike the Cap’n, Asahi is not calm, cool, or collected. I mean I think he’s cool but not in this sense LOL.
Asahi and you decided to have a picnic for lunch in a nearby park. But while he was setting up, you magically disappeared and Asahi felt all of his panic just intensify.
Did you? Leave him? To be on his own? Was this your way of breaking up with him?
No, Asahi tried to convince himself, you loved him. You guys had been together for almost a year now, that’s not how you’d end thins... is it?
Maybe you got lost? Did Asahi walk a little too fast to this spot? He knew sometimes you had a hard time keeping up with his long legs but he thought you had been holding his hand this whole time.
His eyes scanned the somewhat busy park. He couldn’t find you anywhere. His heart was starting to beat way too fast and his fingers were shaking while he tried to text the other third years to ask what the hell he should do.
Suga: LOL knowing Y/N she probably saw some cute chipmunk or something and stopped to take a photo of it
Daichi: don’t worry, Asahi, she’ll probably find you soon - you’re this gigantic dude in a park. I doubt she’d lose you
That didn’t help. Now Asahi was noticing how parents and kids were specifically avoiding him. His bottom lip pouted as he wondered just what he could do to seem less intimidating. Should he sit down? No, what if you were trying to see him? Sitting would only make it harder!
Just as he was considering climbing up the nearby tree to see the park from a higher distance, you popped out from some nearby bushes, holding a few wildflowers.
“Asahi?” You blinked in surprise, finding him trying to find a foothold on the tree. “Are we... eating in the tree?”
“Y/N!” The poor boy almost knocked his head on the tree when he turned around to see you, eyes widening. He immediately ran over to you and twirled you around in a hug, “God, you scared me!”
You quickly apologized profusely seeing how nervous he was, “I’m sorry, Asahi! I saw some pretty flowers over there and thought maybe it would be nice to decorate our tablecloth with!” You kiss his nose and cheeks over and over again trying to get him to calm down (but really that’s just making him more flustered).
The two of you share a gorgeous meal together, and you spend the rest of the day with his head in your lap and you braiding his hair, intertwining some of the flowers you found. The two of you talked about everything and anything and Asahi made sure from that day forward, he could always spot you. Any time you guys weren’t holding hands or standing next to each other, everyone noticed that Asahi’s eyes would dart over to you every now and then, whether consciously or unconsciously.
When he got home that night, he pressed the flowers you put in his hair in a book and kept them as a keepsake. And then gave them to you in a gift for your anniversary later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kageyama would start feeling panic and wouldn’t even know why. The game was starting soon and something just didn’t feel right. His muscles? No… he felt in tiptop shape. He stretched a little extra today too to make sure he wasn’t feeling stiff. His stomach? No, he made sure to have some food and milk a little earlier. And he wasn’t feeling nauseous so it couldn’t be that. His hands? No, they felt perfect in fact. He was so excited for this game earlier, he had felt the anticipation running to his fingers to just set the perfect ball. So why was he feeling so uncomfortable?
His eyebrows furrowed as he tried to think about what was making him feel different. His eyes scanned the crowd unconsciously before realizing what it was.
You weren’t standing up there with the rest of the Karasuno fans.
Where the hell were you?
His feet moved towards the gym doors before Ukai yelled at him, “Where the hell do you think you’re going, Kageyama? The game is staring soon!”
Kageyama’s eyes widened, noting the whole team watching him curiously. Why did Kageyama seem so nervous? He never seemed nervous.
“Don’t worry, Kageyama, with my spikes better than ever, we’re definitely going to win!” Hinata grinned, trying to lighten the tense air in the team.
“I’m not worried, just don’t be stupid on the court,” Kageyama replied, shrugging it off. But his eyes still scanned the stands. Where were you? You had said hello to the whole and wished Kageyama luck just a few minutes ago? So how come you weren’t standing up there with Coach’s friends and Yachi?
The whistle blew to indicate the game starting and Kageyama felt his stomach turn. Why was he feeling like this? You were probably fine so what did it matter?
You had been buying some milk from the nearby vending machines to make sure that Kageyama had some after his game. You knew that he had accidentally finished all the ones he had packed earlier and had been kinda crabby about it so you thought maybe it would cheer him up. You had stood in line for the vending machine for what felt like forever but it was all worth it knowing that you could throw the milk boxes into your lunch bag to keep them cool. Knowing Kageyama would be excited about it made you really happy.
As you walked back towards the gym, you could hear cheering. Your eyes widened as you realized that the game had already started and you ran towards the stands.
“Y/N! There you are!” Yachi’s smile looked oddly nervous. Not that she wasn’t normally nervous at these games, but this one seemed different. “I think something’s wrong with Kageyama.”
Your eyes shot down to the court, seeing how stiff Kageyama looked next to everyone else. They were patting him on the back, yelling “We’ll get the next one!” and Noya screaming, “BRING IT ON!”
“He was looking for you in the stands earlier I think,” Yachi told you with a small giggle, “He looked really nervous when he couldn’t see you.”
Your heart swelled slightly, wondering if Kageyama was off his game because he hadn’t been able to see you. “Kageyama!!” You yelled from the stands, cupping your hands around your mouth. The dark haired boy’s head shot up to look at you, a sense of relief growing on his face. “You can do it!!” You screamed some more, the people on the stands behind you yelling in support.
Even from far away, you could see his lips turn upward in a smile.
