Daisuke adjusted his cufflinks as he walked towards the entrance of his penthouse, his usual cold look never leaving his face. His butler greeted him at the door before taking his gloves and briefcase. Daisuke ran a hand through his sleek hair as he made his way to the parlor where he was offered tea by his maid.

Moving to sit down on the plush couch, he froze as he heard sobs coming from upstairs. His brows furrowed as he realized that the sobs sounded too much like your voice. His ice blue eyes darted towards the maid, agitation rising in his eyes as he demanded an explanation.

“She’s been like that since the moment she got home from her classes, Kanbe-san. The moment she came home she burst into tears... I asked her what was wrong but she wouldn’t answer, and I tried to offer her something to eat or drink but she just went and closed herself into her room. Please talk to her,” the maid said perplexedly.

Daisuke nodded, his frown even more prominent as he subconsciously racked his mind for the worst-case scenarios of what could have possibly happened to you as he marched up to the room you resided in.

He stopped at your door, his heart clenching at the broken sobs emitting from the other side. He knocked.

“(Name)? It’s me. Are you alright?”

Inside your room, you were curled up under your sheets, trying to muffle your sobs with the back of your hand as tears continuously flowed down your cheeks as you realized your boyfriend could most definitely hear your crying. But since the start, he felt that something was off about those “friends” of yours. Maybe it was the way they looked in the candid pictures you had taken, maybe it was the overtly feigned smiles in the selfies you had taken with them. Or maybe it was just the bad vibe they gave off when he was around them. Whatever it was during then, he wasn’t sure, but he didn’t like it. However, he didn’t say anything; he saw how happy they made you.

But God, how he regretted not doing anything beforehand as the realization pieced together in his mind at this moment like a puzzle piece, his fists tightening as the resentment and fury towards those idiots boiled his blood.

They had hurt you. How dare they?

He breathed a sigh as he walked around before kneeling at your side of the bed, peeling off the tear-stained blanket from your face.

He felt his heart tear in half as he saw your distraught state. Your eyes were bloodshot as tears streamed down your cheeks, your eyes glassy, darkened, and twisted with pain as the sobs wreaked havoc on you once more, your voice echoing with pure anguish. The emotions he felt, seeing you in such a state of agony, were comparable to the pain of a knife driven through the chest. He hated seeing you this way. He just wanted you to live your life at ease, but you had been hurt. No, you had been damaged.

One hand made its way to your hair, fingers soothingly carding through your soft locks as another hand tenderly gripped yours, a thumb rubbing gentle circles over the back of your palm as he hushed your cries.

“They just... left me...” you choked out between hiccups and sobs, moving your head to bury your face into the wrinkled covers.

“I’m so, so sorry this happened to you, my love. They didn’t deserve you in the first place, you’re just too precious for them,” he assured you, his voice ever so calm and sturdy as he consoled you, arms moving to wrap around your torso as he lifted you up and pulled you into his chest as he sat on your bed. His hand found purchase in your hair again, slowly massaging your scalp while he rubbed your back. “Hush now, my angel. Everything will be alright. You’re safe with me,” he whispered, pressing gentle kisses to your temple, nose, and cheeks. His hands moved to cup your face, his blue eyes filled with love as he gazed at you, a soft smile making its way to his lips before he gave you a soft peck on the lips.

Daisuke pulled you closer to him, a warm arm sliding securely around your waist as a gentle hand guided you to rest your head on his shoulder. He cradled you, your pained sobs gradually fading away before all he could hear were your occasional sniffles in the quietness of your room.

He stroked your hair, planting a kiss to your neck as he hummed you a song into your ear, his deep voice lulling you to sleep as you leaned into his gentle touch.

“I love you. I promise nothing like this will ever happen to you again.”

And he stuck to that promise. After a couple days, you would find your now ex-friends in a complete financial crisis, having messed with Daisuke Kanbe’s one and only true love. You were reluctant to believe it at first, but this just proved that Daisuke would never let anyone who so much layed a finger on you, get away with it. Dating Daisuke Kambe is a chore all on its own. Dating him when you’re shy? You would seriously reconsider whatever made you think this was a good idea.

How you even ended up together with him is still beyond your comprehension. He’s rich and suave and so unfairly good-looking, the first time you saw him you went so red in the face that the people around you thought you were having a heart attack.

To be fair, that wasn’t all that far from the truth.

He finds your shyness very endearing. Will hold your hand in public and even steal a few discreet kisses on the cheek just to see your brain go into overdrive.
