do you ever have to like. check references to remember cat names. or do you just have a mental database of every cc cat ever

Great question! For like the first two years of running this blog it was basically just a mental database. Like genuinely I just knew them. There's a few cats that I've always had trouble telling apart (like Minx's cats or Martyn's cats) but I used to be able to ID most of them off a photo without you even telling me which CC owned them.

These days it's a bit more to keep track of, I update this blog less often, and I spend less time stalking CCs on social media for cat photos. It is much more difficult for me to remember all their names. So right now, if I forget a cat name, I normally just search this blog for the CC name. My tagging over the years has benefitted me because it allows me to double check things very easily!

Anon, I believe Astra has discussed this: Types are an arbitrary classification schema that has utility, not an ontological fact about the organism in question. There are many flaws in the system, and I do not think it is sufficiently useful to continue to justify its existence in my own studies. This would have no impact.

For just a bit of context, I have IRL very recently gotten back from a few weeks at scout camp, which I have missed dearly. Also, this dream isn't very Cap-centric, but he's in there.

So, in the dream, I am told I'm going back to scout camp for another week! I am absolutely over the moon, so I pack my stuff and go there on a stick that I can fly on like a magic broom because it and I stood near a radioactive power source (I'm quite sure this transferred from another dream, so that's interesting). So, now I'm at scout camp. We skip to it being dinner time. It's weird and doesn't look like the dining hall, and there's couches for some reason, so I put my extraneous stuff down on a couch. Sorry for the long wait, but here's the Captain! He's just kinda there, and so is someone else, but I forget who. Dinner takes a break (?) and everyone goes back to their rooms to change. I drop in on the Captain and the other person, and they're both figuring out their outfits. Cap doesn't take his uniform off, because technically it's still dinner time and we should all have our uniforms on, and the other guy says something about how "it doesn't have to be from Dungeons & Dragons, it just has to be pink," so I guess this night is Barbie themed and also we're in DnD world. Cap proceeds to put on a small feather boa with a bunch of cute pins on it, and there's some more cute pins on his uniform, too. Anyway, we go back to dinner, and the rest of the dream is kind of irrelevant to the Captain, but he was in fact there :)
